Analysis Of The Great Migration Reflections On By step...
The New Victory Theater produces the history of the Great Migration to light with its second
production of the season, Step Afrika! s The Migration Reflections on Jacob Lawrence. Directed and
Choreographed by Jakari Sherman, the production highlights the historical movement in the early 20th
century of African Americans to the North from the South. Founder and Executive Director C. Brian
Williams takes legendary artist Jacob Lawrence s colorful, influential paintings and brings them to
life. Through the use of African traditional stepping, tap dance, and powerful percussion, the cast takes
the audience through the brave journey of these migrants years ago. With it s New York Premiere
November 10th to 26th, it makes for a pronounced experience for the whole family.
Bringing both a sense of history and thrilling dance forms Step Afrika! s The Migration Reflections on
Jacob Lawrence calls the attention of the audience to a simpler period. Based on the series of sixty
paintings by Jacob Lawrence in the year of 1941, all demonstrating the relocating of millions of
people from the rural South to the industrial North. With his commanding paintings now celebrated in
both the Museum of Modern art in New York and Washington D.C s Phillips Memorial Gallery, C.

Pagodes, Pour Le Piano, And The Javanese Gamelan
1889 was the year where Claude Debussy became particularly interested in Javanese Gamelan.
Northern European musicians constantly searched for new and exotic sound worlds, different to the
Nineteenth Century German Romanticism from which they were trying to move away. It was when
Debussy visited the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition that he became intrigued with the exhibit from
Java, (an island in the Malay Archipelago). The Java exhibit was a model village which presented
many aspects of the communal village life whereby Gamelan played one of the main roles in the
religious and social areas. Javanese Gamelan, consisting of a collection of instruments, mostly
metallic with gong or bell like sounds caused enthusiasm and excitement among the European
musicians, due to its well developed, powerful and beautiful style that had complete uniqueness and
broke all rules of what music could and should be. Robert Godet (a friend of Debussy) remarked that
many fruitful hours were spent in the Javanese Kampong (Village) . Debussy was said to be captivated
with Gamelan, listening to the Percussive rhythmic complexities and its inexhaustible combinations of
celestial, flashing timbres. Amidst Debussy s works, Pagodes , Pour Le Piano and L isle Joyeuse ,
incorporate into their pieces numerous aspects of Javanese Gamelan, whether it be the interlocking
patterns between the left and right hand, or using melodies influenced by the Slendro pentatonic scale.

Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (Wto)
Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (WTO)
1. The WTO only serves the interests of transnational corporations
The WTO is as democratic as its member governments; and between the members it is ultra
democratic because decisions are taken by consensus all members have to be persuaded. The rules are
written by member governments, no one else has access to the negotiations. However, governments,
which are elected democratically by their citizens, do take into account the views of various groups in
their societies. How they do that is up to them and their citizens. Governments regularly cite pressure
from consumer, environmental, human rights and labor organizations, as well as business. The
structure of negotiations also helps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
7. The WTO undermines local development and penalizes poor countries
Most favored nation treatment means non discrimination between countries. Equal treatment is an
overwhelmingly important and useful principle for both fairness and efficiency. Most favored nation
does not mean treating all corporations equally. A government can reward or penalize corporations,
but the same criteria for doing this must normally apply to all foreign companies. (There are some
constraints on what those rules might say.)
8. The WTO is increasing inequality Free trade is not working for the majority of the world. During a
most recent period of rapid growth in global trade and investment 1960 to 1998 inequality worsened
both internationally and within countries. The UN Development Program reports that the richest 20
percent of the world s population consume 86 percent of the world s resources while the poorest 80
percent consume just 14 percent. WTO rules have hastened these trends by opening up countries to
foreign investment and thereby making it easier for production to go where the labor is cheapest and
most easily exploited and environmental costs are low. This pulls down wages and environmental
standards in developed countries that have to compete globally.
9. The WTO undermines national sovereignty By creating a supranational court system that has the
power to economically sanction countries to force them to comply with its rulings, the WTO has

The Day I Had A Patient With Septic Shock
I completed my seventh and eighth shift during the nights of !0/14 and 10/28. Both nights I had a
fairly heavy patient load caring for four patients each night. The census on the unit was also relatively
high. The first night I had a patient with septic shock, a man who was experiencing chest pain, blurred
vision and periods of near syncope, a woman with CHF exacerbation and hypoxemia, and finally a
woman with hematuria with a history of chronic kidney disease stage III. The second night I was
assigned 59 year old man diagnosed with rapid A fib with a history of COPD, CHF, and
cardiomyopathy, a 52 year old woman with a lower GI bleed with anemia status post colonoscopy that
day and had a history of breast cancer with left mastectomy, a 53 year old woman with sepsis and
necrotizing fasciitis from her right buttox to her vulva, and 81 year old woman with fungal pneumonia
and SIRS. On this shift I performed many actions like performing a wound dressing change on my
patient with necrotizing fasciitis, performed hygiene care, administered medications, performed head
to toe assessments, called the doctor regarding critical information, and assisted in range of motion
exercises. In a lot of my interactions I continually saw how necessary forgiveness is in nursing. One
interaction in particular was when I was cleaning out the wound on my patient s buttox and vulva. The
wound was so deep that it was excruciatingly painful. We premeditated her giving her a bolus of

Chris Mccandless Escaping The World s Foolishness
Escaping the world s foolishness
Every one of us sometimes thinks that we need a break from life, and that s what Christopher Johnson
McCandless wanted. The book Into the Wild by john Krakauer talks about Chris s journey the
wilderness. Chris was brave to take the decision to go live in the wilderness and hitchhike to Alaska

he was courageous. Chris didn t go there to kill himself, but he was enjoying every moment in his

society and wanted to live on his own away from all of that.

Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The...
The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks,
destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated significant
backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming systems
miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks associated with
conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate flushing rates,
offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column and had diminished
water and benthic pollution. By producing fish in less polluted marine environments, offshore
operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access, and increase profit.
However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges that jeopardizes the
ecological and economical integrity of the sector.
 Fish Escapes
Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that
escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the risk
of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages are
able to withstand and avoid storms. Escapes can occur from human error during cage maintenance and
harvesting, from collision of ships, and vandalism. Escaped fish can cause potential harm to the
marine ecosystem and native species by

The Ancient Empires Are The Maya, Aztec And Inca
The three ancient empires are the Maya, Aztec and Inca. Indigenous had no resistance to smallpox and

specifically Amerindian and Spanish ancestry. Indigenous traditions, European derived music, and
African inspired musical activity make up the music of Central America, South America, and Mexico.
African influence is evident in African secular and religious practices, in instruments modeled after
African instruments, and in the use of musical traits associated with Africa s ethnic groups.

Arnold Shapiro and narrated by Peter Falk. The documentary followed 19 juvenile delinquents as they

Michael Royster, professor of Criminology at Prairie View A M University, would agree. In analyzing
the results of the original Scared Straight pilot program in 1978, Royster notices a large discrepancy in
the rates of recidivism of the pilot program compared to modern day Scared Straight style programs.
The rates of recidivism among participants in the pilot program are significantly lower than those who
participate today. In Petrosino s research, he found that 41% of children who participated in a Scared
Straight style program in New Jersey committed a new crime after the program, while a control group,
who came from the same background, but did not go through the program, showed only 11%
recidivism. In contrast, the results of the pilot program showed only 6% of the participants returned to
crime (Petrosino). Royster offers several explanations for this gap in rates of recidivism, one being the
Hawthorne Effect. The Hawthorne Effect describes the phenomenon in which one s reaction is
modified due to their awareness of being observed. The pilot program was televised, therefore,
Royster claims, the original participants felt significant pressure to not return to a

The Symbols Of Christianity During The Roman Era
Symbols are utilized as a way for human beings to give expression their abstract ideas. Every religion
and ideology has its own visual symbol, which illustrates a significant feature of its history or beliefs.
Christianity is rich in tradition and symbolism. The most recognized symbol is the cross, the
implement of the salvation. William Penn said, No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no
glory; no cross, no crown. In Matthew 10:39 Jesus also stated, He that findeth his life shall lose it; and
he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Jesus s crucifixion on the cross made the cross become
one of the most influential symbols of Christianity for its victory over sin and death. The Christian
cross comes in many different forms. According to Echol Lee Nix, there were four main types of
crosses with significance during the Roman Era (pg. 75). First of all, the Latin Cross or crux ordinaria,
also known as the Protestant Cross, is the most familiar symbol of Christianity. Even though it was
once used as a pagan symbol for millennia before the Christian church was founded, the Latin Cross
most resembles the shape of the structure upon which Jesus Christ was crucified. Second, there was
the Crux Commissa also called the Cross of Tau , which was named after the Greek letter it resembles.
It is also known as St. Anthony s Cross for its association with one of the most prominent saint in the
Catholic faith. The Cross of Tau had been used as a pagan

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby: A Life Foolishly Lived
Released in 1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby cleverly demonstrates the manners
and morals commonly practiced throughout the time period. The plot revolves around several main
themes and effectively expresses Fitzgerald s unique perspective. With an objective standpoint, Nick
Carraway narrates the story as Jay Gatsby, a foolish racketeer, tries to win over his lifelong love,
Daisy Buchanan. Although pecuniary matters can often be too large of an influence on human
relationships, the novel unveils several powerful battles entangling love, morals, and money.

Transforming his name and developing new life values are only parts of the lifecycle in which Jay
Gatsby participates in order to follow his dreams. Although not always successful in creating new
individualities, Gatsby s attempts are fully genuine.
Gatsby struggles to fit into social groups in to which Daisy Buchanan belongs. Daisy and her husband,
Tom Buchanan, often attend parties hosted by Gatsby. Although these parties may be essentially
hosted by him, Gatsby does not wholeheartedly attend. As he shrinks away to other areas of his home,
Gatsby is able to avoid socializing with his guests. I made an attempt to find my host but the two or
three people of whom I asked his whereabouts stared at me in such an amazed way and denied so
vehemently any knowledge of his movement (46). This quote demonstrates how many of the
partygoers have become used to Gatsby s nonattendance. Therefore, the primary motive of his
characteristic social gatherings is revealed, to attract the attention and win the heart of Daisy
Buchanan.
Although Gatsby believes his parties may be bringing him somewhat closer to his love, they further
extend the gap between him and other social groups. At many parties, guests often speak of him and
his fictitious past with little concern of his reputation. For example, one guest at a party speaks of ...he
was a German spy during the war (48) and another speaks of him saying, I ll bet he killed a man (48),

The Principal Crusades
The Crusades were a series of Holy Wars launched by the Christian states of Europe against the
Saracens and the rescuing of holy places of Palestine from the hands of the Mohammedans. (Alchin 1)
There were eight Crusades in number; the first four were sometimes called the Principal Crusades, and
the remaining four were the called the Minor Crusades. (Alchin 1) The Principal Crusades, however,
were considered to be the most important. (Alchin 1) The Principal Crusades started because of key
people or key events, which led to affect history. Every crusade contained key people, which helped
spark the crusades, or contained key leaders that were important in conquering them. The first impulse

(Alchin 6) Then the grand assault came. The first assault made by the Christians upon the walls of the
city was repulsed; but the second was successful, and the city was in the hands of the crusaders by
July 1099. (Alchin 7) Once inside the city, the crusaders massacred their enemies without mercy.
(Alchin 7)
The fall and massacre of the city of Edessa sparked the second crusade. In the year 1146, the city of
Edessa, the bulwark of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem on the side towards Mesopotamia, was taken
by the Turks, and the entire population was slaughtered, or sold into slavery. (Alchin 9) This disaster
threw the entire West into a state of the greatest alarm, lest the little Christian state and all the holy
places should again fall into the hands of the infidels. (Alchin 9) The second crusade, though begun
under the most favorable auspices, had an unhappy ending. (Alchin 12) Of the great host that set out
from Europe, only a few thousands escaped annihilation in Asia Minor at the hands of the Turks.
(Alchin 12) Louis and Conrad, with the remnants of their armies, made a joint attack on Damascus,
but had to raise the siege after a few days. (Alchin 12) This closed the second crusade.
The capture of Jerusalem by Saladin stimulated the third crusade. Having made himself sultan of
Egypt, Saladin united the Moslems of Syria under his sway and then advanced against the Latin
Kingdom of Jerusalem.

The Battle over Safe Injection Sites
Insite: The Battle over Supervised Injection Sites
In the 1990 s there was an epidemic of HIV outbreaks in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.
Injection drug users were found to be the leading cause of this, and a public health emergency was
declared (Fafard, 2012). The mortality and morbidity resulting from this increasing injection drug use
became a major political issue. This resulted in the adoption of harm reduction by the government as
one of their four pillars of their drug strategy (Fafard, 2012). Harm reduction is a set of practical
strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use (Boyd, 2013).

There was also no increase of users relapsing into injection drug use, nor did it negatively influence
those seeking to stop drug use (Kerr et al., 2006). The research shows that Insite has not promoted
increased illicit drug injection, but rather it has attracted individuals with histories of injection drug
use.
Another claim put forth by the Conservatives is that SISs are harmful to communities. They believe
SISs create public nuisances, and threaten public safety (Broadhead, Kerr amp; Alice, 2002). Research
on the other hand argues that SISs can address issues related to public. Since Insite opened the public
has noticed less public injections, less syringe droppage, and less complaints about drug user
nuisances (Potier et al., 2014). It also cleans up public environment such as streets and alleyways.
Drug use is still an illicit activity and it takes place in unsterile environments such as behind
dumpsters and shooting galleries. SISs provide sterile environments for users and are a lot safer than
shooting up in the streets. This leads to less public injection and a better community environment
(Potier et al., 2014). Local police data was also evaluated and there has been no increase in crime,
violence, or drug trafficking around Insite. There were no significant statistical changes in rates of
drug trafficking. There were 124 incidents in the year before and 116 incidents after. There were 147

species is only finding in the levees of the lower Tana River in Kenya. They live in the riparian forest
fragmentation, some of forest fragmentations are less than one hectare, and even the largest one is not
up to 500 hectares. The habitat loss is one of the main threats of the Tana River red colbus. The range
of this species is significantly small. The forest loss and fragmentation is mainly causing by
agriculture, the increasingly smaller and more isolated patches of habitat, for instance, forest convert
into buildings. Furthermore, if human need to build a house, human will get the material such as
wood, from forest which increases the loss speed of the habitats. David points out that there is a 50%
decrease of the forest loss in last 20 years due to those activities. Colobus monkeys are vegetarians,

Merchant of Venice Antonio
Bigoted and spiteful and well intentioned and loyal , which of these views best describes the character
of Antonio in your question. In Merchant of Venice , Antonio is the main character as he is the
merchant in the story in Venice. As Antonio is a Christian, he is quite anti Semitic and rude to
Shylock, making some people believe that he is spiteful and bigoted. However, most of the play
centers on him being the victim of the villain of the play, Shylock due to their bond they made. As
Antonio is willing to give everything for Bassanio without any payment and he strikes at any chance
to help Bassanio, I believe Shakespearian and modern audiences would believe him to be more of a
well intentioned and loyal friend. At the start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word dare shows his bravery in helping Bassanio, seeing as his first time bounding himself for
Bassanio turned out to be a life and death situation. This time, Antonio doesn t need Shylock or
anyone else s taunting to agree to a bond, but for the sake of Bassanio and Portia s happiness, he is
willing to put his soul upon the forfeit . He not only gives his life, he also gives his soul. This sounds
more religious and important than dying, so Antonio shows his most extreme means and greater
commitment in ensuring Bassanio s happiness. This strongly displays his well intentions behind his
actions. However, this also suggests that this bond will not end well, because in the first bond, Antonio
failed to return the money. All in all, Antonio is well intentioned and certainly very loyal towards
Bassanio, as he helps his friend as well as he can quite a few times and the only reason behind his
actions is their friendship, showing his benevolence. Even though Antonio is quite mean to Shylock,
showing anti semitism but overall, this main character is surely seen as a kind hearted and faithful
friend in audiences of all ages and

Analysis Of Katherine Gobles Johnson s The Space Race
Katherine Gobles Johnson was the first African American to join the Space Task Group at NASA. This
was a prestigious group in NASA that was dedicated in winning the Space Race. Octavia Spencer

Bio Engineered Foods Essay
The advancements in the field of biotechnology have enabled scientists to aid the production of bio
engineered food products. Bio engineered foods are created with the insertion of a new gene into a
plant or organism to change it s traits. This altercation of DNA produces new proteins that create this
change. In order to better fill consumer demands and receive a larger profit, farmers use genetically
modified crops to: help assure a longer plant life, improve nutrition in food, and resist certain
herbicides. With these changes comes fault, after the plantation when this food hits the market there is

As the dangers begin to pile the possibilities become dire, Many children in the US and Europe have
developed life threatening allergies to peanuts and other foods. There is a possibility that introducing a

Extensive testing of GM foods may be required to avoid the possibility of harm to consumers with
food allergies (4). It is obviously necessary that genetically modified foods be closer studied before
they can be declared safe. Other risks pertain to consumer health, Many people believe that
organically produced foods are, in some way, healthier than conventionally produced foods, and they
seek out products that are labeled organic because organic agriculture shuns synthetic chemical

genetically modified foods are so safe then why has it become an issue to label them? Without the

Gertrude Stein s Speech On Deconstruction In Theatre
Gertrude Stein on Deconstruction in Theatre In Laura Schultz s speech on Gertrude Stein s plays, she
suggests how Stein s deconstruction of dramatic conventions greatly affected contemporary theatre
today. She focuses on Stein s deconstruction of the mimetic relationship between the text and
performance, as well as the deconstruction of the unity of the dramatic character. Schultz discusses
how Stein was inspired by avant garde theatre in Europe, and is now one of the most influential
theatre artists (especially in the field of performance art), but is often overlooked in the academe in
theatre and performance studies, her plays are rarely read or researched. What is fascinating about
Stein s plays is that her language is open to new readings, without preference to one reading ... Show

Art and reality should not be represented through stable and mimetic means only; the transformation
from text to performance must also be considered in different terms. While the text is a work of art in
its own right, performance should not be limited to just the illustration of the text. The play is a
literary genre which implies that there is a performative aspect in all forms of writing and language.
She then points out that in a theatrical event, concretizing the play involves space and light, which are
more important to a child than the action on the stage. Generally speaking, all the early recollections
all a child s feeling of the theater is two things. One which is in a way like a circus that is the general

The Music Of Guns N Roses
Guns N Roses is a heavy metal band that helped the rise of heavy metal as the mainstream genre in the
1980 s. Their music has a unique sound with influences from heavy metal and hair metal/glam metal
periods. One song that illustrates both of these musical influences is the song Welcome to the Jungle
on the album Appetite for Destruction .
The members of Guns N Roses got their start as a band in Los Angeles, California. At the time of their
band rising to fame, America was still in the transition of heavy metal becoming a mainstream genre
again. Although metal was present throughout the 1980 s it was not until the late 80 s when it achieved
mainstream success. The popular music genres at the time were hip hop, electronic music, soft rock,
alternative rock, and pop music. Country music was also a popular genre of music in the early 1980 s
but eventually got less popular. While Guns n Roses were building up their popularity it took nearly a
year to get the gigs they were looking for. In that year the odds were against the band. They had a hard
time when it came to getting gigs because ... a series of frenzied, violent shows landed the Gunners on

In addition to setting, the use of symbols in Everyday Use also helps shape the theme of honoring

rejection of the oppression implied by the taking of black slave names, she tells her mother that her

Mama begins the story and describes herself as a large, big boned woman with rough, man working
hands who wears flannel and overalls while working outside all day (Walker 136, 137). She also
mentions that she never had an education (Walker 138). Maggie is described in a similar way with
little education to speak of and badly scarred on her arms and legs ( Overview: Everyday Use ). The
characterization of Mama and Maggie as hardened, hardworking women reflects the way they are
honoring their heritage. Both women have taken the skills and useful meaning of their heritage and put
it into everyday use even when it is not always a pretty reality. Contrastingly, Dee is characterized as
being dressed in bright clothing and gold jewelry accompanied by a man with wild looking hair (

reflects her attitude toward her heritage. Her appreciation for her cultural heritage miss the mark as
she describes her plans to decorate her home with old household items as if they are folk art (

artifacts which she can possess and appreciate from a distance instead of as a process in which she is
always intimately involved (Piedmont Marton 1). While Dee s heritage is in reality the same as

Censorship Of A Wide Range Of Books
From fiction to nonfiction, from romance to horror, from children s to adults, and from classics to
newcomers, censorship of a wide range of books is becoming more popular. Many forget how much
influence a person can receive through the words in a book or the pictures throughout a story. The
issue of morally destructive and offensive literature has become a common concern among people
worldwide. However, the banning of certain books can be looked at in two completely different ways:
protecting the precious minds of humankind, young or old, or forbidding those minds from reading the
particular topics that were put in place to be learned. Regardless of the content inside of them, books
are the greatest teachers in the world. Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, just because people do not agree with each other or with what is being said, that is not a
reason to take it all away. Taking away books based on their content provides this idea that people are
wrong in expressing their ideas and that they do not have a right to speak their mind and show their
individuality. Parents, educators, librarians, and the government would beg to differ because they
believe some books can be harmful to the mind. These poisonous factors would include racism,
profanity, sex, violence, religion and so many other themes. Not all people are affected and
challenging these themes, so it is not fair to take them away just because some people do not approve.
It is important for the mind to learn about these topics because the world is not filled with all
positives. Being aware of the negatives in the world and learning lessons from them is quite important
to those young and old. Prohibiting books from people will not do them any good; let them self censor
and choose what they like and do not like to explore instead of taking away their privileges all
together. Although many would say that a book serves as the greatest teacher a person could have,
many do not realize how great of a best friend that a book could essentially be. Books act as an outlet
and safe haven for many people based on how they relate to the content it contains. Readers often

The development of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) has become an interest for Federal health reform
as well as public and private sectors, consumers, and providers; subsequently, when research is
adequately funded and evidence based treatment options become available and ready to be introduced
into practice, this is achieved through translational research. In the early 1990 s, translational research
appeared in mainly cancer related studies. More recently, the National Institute of Health (NIH)
definition of translational research has been cited as the process of applying discoveries generated
during research in the laboratory, and in preclinical studies, to the development of trials and studies in
humans; and the second area of translation concerns research aimed at enhancing the adoption of best

however, there has been a growing perception by cancer specialists and patients that the onset and
treatment of cancer may be affected by psychological factors. A new field of research called psycho

breast cancer, and consisted of interviewing them after a significant event involving their cancer (such
as diagnosis, or an operation). The patients were then followed up after a number of years. However,
the results often proved contradictory, as has occurred in several retrospective studies. In one well
known case, 16Ramirez et al. (1989) found that there was a prognostic association between severe life
stressors and the recurrence of breast cancer. Barraclough et al. (1992) 17 on the other hand, 18 found
that psychosocial adversity such as depression, or a severe life event, was not conducive to a relapse
of cancer and this conclusions has since been supported. 19 There is good evidence for any relation
between stressful life events and breast cancer (McGee 1999, p.1015).
Certain studies found that patients could be classified into different psychological groups, and that a

Persuasive Essay On How To Take A Penalty In Soccer
How to take a penalty in soccer Part of being a soccer player, you will encounter taking a penalty kick
either one way or another. If you are put in a situation of a game where there can be no tie and there
needs to be a winner. If your team cannot defeat your team and the other team cannot defeat yours.
Then you will both go to penalty kicks as a result of no winner being named after 90 minutes of play.
If you are chosen to shoot a penalty kick in this situation then you will need to follow the following
steps. The steps are, grabbing the ball then proceeding to walk towards the penalty spot, picking a side
to shoot to, then shooting towards the goal. Of course these steps will come with sub steps with more
details to ensure you are successful at taking a penalty kick in soccer. Grabbing the ball and then
proceeding to walk towards the penalty spot. This is where a lot of people struggle. Most people
freeze up at this step and they chicken out of taking a penalty kick. This is where the mental aspect
comes in. The first and most important sub step in this step is to have confidence in yourself. You will
be at the half field line, waiting for your turn to take the penalty kick. When your name or number is
called up to take your penalty kick. The ball will be kicked to you, this is when you grab the ball with
your hands, you start taking steps towards the penalty spot. The referee will be standing at the penalty

Philadelphia Eagles Case Study
Throughout this season, the Philadelphia Eagles have been the proverbial underdogs as many analysts
did not believe that they were a good football team. Despite losing second year quarterback Carson
Wentz in Week 14 the Eagles proved their doubters wrong and clinched the NFC s number one seed
behind veteran backup Nick Foles. However, when the playoffs began, the doubters and oddsmakers
came out and full force once again. Las Vegas pegged the Eagles as underdogs against the Atlanta
Falcons in the divisional round and in the NFC championship game versus the Minnesota Vikings. But
just like they did all season, the Eagles proved everybody wrong outside of the city of Brotherly Love,
defeating both Atlanta and Minnesota to make it all the way

While the Statement of Cash Flows is discussed at the end of the text, the concepts that are needed to
understand that information were introduced in Chapter 1.
DEBBIE BENSON, KENNESAW STATE UNIVERSITY
Typically, we show the statements model immediately after each journal entry. For example, the
settlement of a liability for interest would be shown as follows:
Account Title Interest Payable Cash Debit 8,400 8,400 Credit
Assets (8,400)
5
Liab. (8,400)
1
Equity NA
Rev. NA
2
Exp. NA
5
Net Inc. NA
Cash Flow (8,400) OA
The number one strength of the text is the financial statement model approach and delaying
introducing debits and credits for several chapters.
LEAH KRATZ, EASTERN MENNONITE UNIVERSITY
This approach provides a direct visual connection between journal entries and financial statements. It
enables students to see how each individual accounting event affects decision making. Executives
make few decisions without considering how those decisions affect bottom line financial performance
measures. The statements model approach encourages students to develop real world thinking
patterns.
● A UNIQUE APPROACH TO THE STATEMENT OF CASH FLOWS
We not only cover the income statement, statement of stockholders equity, and the balance sheet, but
we also provide comprehensive coverage of the statement of cash flows. Coverage of the statement of
cash flows starts in Chapter 1 and is discussed

Essay on Nonsense for APA Formatting
This paper isn t going to make any sense at all; it s written just to practice APA formatting for various
references and to practice various in text citations. I can tell that this paper is going to be boring to
write; therefore, it is probably going to be boring to read. Even so, it s still good practice for future
reference. The first type of references I m using in this paper is two academic journals. I m going
online to find two random academic journals to do so. In the journal, African Journal of Business
Ethics, Ogunyemi (2013) starts his writing with the quote, Ethical reasoning is the process of arriving
at moral judgements. I have no idea of what else Ogunyemi writes about next. Nevertheless, another
random academic journal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the chosen book, the first statement is; When I was little, my dad used to tell me, Will, you can
pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can t pick your friend s nose. (Green Levithan,
2011). I have no idea what this book is about; I just know it s intended for a juvenile audience.
Newspapers are widely used for information, so I m going to cite one as well. The nearest newspaper
to me is The Sun Star, and an interesting article in this newspaper is written by Kurtis Gosney. He
states in his article that, The UAF Men s basketball team played in the annual GCI Alaska Invitational
last Thursday... (Gosney, 2012, p. 1), and I got bored of reading the article from there. Nonetheless,
good job Nanooks for being champions. Speaking of champions, writing champions know how to cite
websites in APA format! A website that is used by millions every day was first made possible by a
person named Mark Zuckerberg; that website is known as Facebook. On the homepage of the website
there s a bold statement, Connect with friends and the world around you on Facebook (Zuckerberg,
2013). This website has been a breakthrough for social interaction on the internet.
A film is the last on my citation list, so let s make it an awesome movie. Nothing is as awesome as
Full Metal Jacket. In the beginning of the movie, a boot camp officer actually makes a cadet choke
himself with the officer s hand, (Kubrick, 1987).

DESIGN OF FPEZ SOURCE NETWORK WITH REDUCED SWITCHES FED INDUCTION
MOTOR K.Vasudevan1 and L.Parimala2 1Research scholar (PT) Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE,
Sriram Engineering College 2L.Parimala, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE, Sriram Engineering
College, Chennai kp_vasu1@yahoo.com ABSTRACT: This Project deals with a fully parallel
Embedded Z source inverter to control the three phase induction motor. Z Source inverter is a single
stage converter which performs both buck boost energy conversions using the LC impedance network.
The further advancement in the Z Source inverter is the partially parallel Embedded Z Source inverter
that can produce same gain as Z Source inverter. Energy from the solar cell is taken as input to the EZ
source inverter. The ripple content of the solar cell output voltage is reduced using Parallel EZ Source
(PEZS) inverter. In order to overcome the drawbacks of PPEZS, Fully parallel EZ (FPEZS) Source
inverter is proposed. The proposed inverters provide high boost voltage inversion ability, a lower
voltage stress across the active switching devices, a continuous input current and a reduced voltage
stress on the capacitors. In addition, they can suppress the startup inrush current, which otherwise
might destroy the devices. The proposed system reduces six switch three phase inverter to four switch
three phase inverter. This makes system compact which reduces cost and switching losses, line
harmonics, improves power factor, reliability

Causes And Policies Of Financial Crises
Causes and Policies in Financial Crises
Financial Crises are well known phenomena in economics history; however, after the Great Financial
Crisis of 2007 2009 the role that Central Banks play in order to prevent Financial Crises has been
questioned. To begin with, it is important to understand that crises consist of highly complex macro
financial linkages that reflect the interactions between the financial sector and the real economy
(Claessens 2012). Additionally, it is important to highlight two different financial crises groups:
Currency and sudden stop crisis, which have strictly quantitative definitions; and debt and banking
crises that depend on qualitative and judgmental analysis (Claessens 2012). Nevertheless, the
interconnectivity of the financial sector demonstrates that major crises are a blend of the different
types; thus, the effects on real economy are larger (Laevene 2008). In consequence, governments and
central banks have the responsibility to develop monetary and macro prudential policies to
appropriately supervise and regulate the financial industry (Norgren 2010). However, central banks
have failed to appropriately understand the main symptoms that precede financial crises: credit booms
and asset booms (Bijapur 2015). In fact, it is essential to comprehend these symptoms in order to
develop policies that strengthen the fragility of the financial industry; hence, upholding stable growth
and inflation.
The last major financial crises demonstrate that the

Burj Khalif An Embodiment Of Islamic Architecture
Burj Khalifa is the largest megatall skyscraper in the world, standing at an astounding 828 meters
(2716.5 feet). It serves as the centerpiece for downtown Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up
its country, and was designed by Adrian Smith, then representing Skidmore, Owings Merrill. It was
under construction from January of 2004, until December of 2009, finally opening its doors on
January 4th of 2010. The building is an embodiment of Islamic architecture, incorporating both
cultural and historical elements of the region into the visage of the building. This style was chosen
very deliberately, meant to enrich the, at the time, recently developed downtown Dubai. The building
has since received widespread international attention for various reasons. Some laud the records that
the building shattered and the many awards it has received, while others commend the manner in
which it has elevated the city of Dubai.
The Dubai government decided to build the Burj Khalifa as a way to diversify their economic
portfolio. Their economy had long been based solely on oil and they decided that they wanted to
generate more interest and international recognition for Dubai, thus increasing tourism and overall
improving the emirate s economy. The skyscraper served its purpose and drew a lot of additional
interest towards Dubai, receiving many awards. For example, the Burj Khalifa is recognized as the
tallest existing, or ever built, free standing structure. It is also the building

The Nature Of Village Life In The High Middle Ages
The Nature of Village Life in The High Middle Ages
One Ox and Luttrell Psalter are texts that I think give an interesting perspective on village life. Based
on my readings of One Ox, I would characterize village life in the High Middle to have been ruled
with aristocracy, secularism, and church, with a strong emphasis on farming, money, and markets
showing an agrarian society. The Luttrell Psalter shows images of agriculture labor by peasants, men,
women, and children alike showing the importance of agriculture, as well as a wealthy class of
magistrates, showing the same ruling systems present in One Ox , but a market system, and secularism
are absent. The ruling class of a village are shown in One Ox who are aristocrat and clergy figures, the
officials the mayor of the village, provost, and celebrated priest of the church. Though it seems they
are on the lower end of wealth, as they even have to partake in agriculture, There is no need for us to
plow any longer in rainstorms. The mixture of church, and magistrates are seen between these three
officials showing how the two must probably have to work together to run a village.
There s different points in the story where the officials do many illegal things, but only get
reprehended once in the market for inflation, ...in response to the abuse the assembly of shoe makers
increases, with angered minds This shows something like guilds are present in markets. Then, They
are led off by bailiffs, presented to

The Batman And Nihilism
In the Dark Knight, the Joker did not prevail in showing that the city of Gotham was Nihilistic. The
practice of Nihilism is that of showing how the world has no morals and or beliefs that matter or are
true. The Joker, an active Nihilist, or one that takes action upon his feelings, is looking to prove that
nothing matter in the city of Gotham. He puts the people of Gotham through many dilemmas and
situations in which the Joker was looking forwards to prove and show accuracy of his beliefs. The city
of Gotham, the Gotham City Police Department or (GCPD), and Batman succeed and prevail, not
falling back on their morals which include Batman s one rule, which he does not break, which is
(Batman) never kill(s). Overall, three situations that show the Joker s defeat are the ferryboat situation,
Batman not killing the Joker, and Harvey Dent becoming Two Face in which Harvey Dent dies a hero,
or lives long enough to see himself become the villain. One of the Joker s great scenes in which he
tries to put Batman to the test is in the many and countless situations in which the Joker tries to get
Batman to kill him. The Joker almost gets Batman to kill him many times such as in the interrogation
room, on the street when Batman is on the motorcycle, when the Joker is hanging upside down from
Batman s hand off of a ledge of a building, etc. Batman s one rule is that he will not kill anyone, as
seen in the rest of the movie. The only thing that makes the Joker different from

  • 3. Pagodes, Pour Le Piano, And The Javanese Gamelan 1889 was the year where Claude Debussy became particularly interested in Javanese Gamelan. Northern European musicians constantly searched for new and exotic sound worlds, different to the Nineteenth Century German Romanticism from which they were trying to move away. It was when Debussy visited the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition that he became intrigued with the exhibit from Java, (an island in the Malay Archipelago). The Java exhibit was a model village which presented many aspects of the communal village life whereby Gamelan played one of the main roles in the religious and social areas. Javanese Gamelan, consisting of a collection of instruments, mostly metallic with gong or bell like sounds caused enthusiasm and excitement among the European musicians, due to its well developed, powerful and beautiful style that had complete uniqueness and broke all rules of what music could and should be. Robert Godet (a friend of Debussy) remarked that many fruitful hours were spent in the Javanese Kampong (Village) . Debussy was said to be captivated with Gamelan, listening to the Percussive rhythmic complexities and its inexhaustible combinations of celestial, flashing timbres. Amidst Debussy s works, Pagodes , Pour Le Piano and L isle Joyeuse , incorporate into their pieces numerous aspects of Javanese Gamelan, whether it be the interlocking patterns between the left and right hand, or using melodies influenced by the Slendro pentatonic scale. • 4. Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (Wto) Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (WTO) 1. The WTO only serves the interests of transnational corporations The WTO is as democratic as its member governments; and between the members it is ultra democratic because decisions are taken by consensus all members have to be persuaded. The rules are written by member governments, no one else has access to the negotiations. However, governments, which are elected democratically by their citizens, do take into account the views of various groups in their societies. How they do that is up to them and their citizens. Governments regularly cite pressure from consumer, environmental, human rights and labor organizations, as well as business. The structure of negotiations also helps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 7. The WTO undermines local development and penalizes poor countries Most favored nation treatment means non discrimination between countries. Equal treatment is an overwhelmingly important and useful principle for both fairness and efficiency. Most favored nation does not mean treating all corporations equally. A government can reward or penalize corporations, but the same criteria for doing this must normally apply to all foreign companies. (There are some constraints on what those rules might say.) 8. The WTO is increasing inequality Free trade is not working for the majority of the world. During a most recent period of rapid growth in global trade and investment 1960 to 1998 inequality worsened both internationally and within countries. The UN Development Program reports that the richest 20 percent of the world s population consume 86 percent of the world s resources while the poorest 80 percent consume just 14 percent. WTO rules have hastened these trends by opening up countries to foreign investment and thereby making it easier for production to go where the labor is cheapest and most easily exploited and environmental costs are low. This pulls down wages and environmental standards in developed countries that have to compete globally. 9. The WTO undermines national sovereignty By creating a supranational court system that has the power to economically sanction countries to force them to comply with its rulings, the WTO has essentially ... • 12. Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The... The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks, destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated significant backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming systems miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks associated with conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate flushing rates, offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column and had diminished water and benthic pollution. By producing fish in less polluted marine environments, offshore operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access, and increase profit. However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges that jeopardizes the ecological and economical integrity of the sector.  Fish Escapes Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the risk of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages are able to withstand and avoid storms. In analyzing the results of the original Scared Straight pilot program in 1978, Royster notices a large discrepancy in the rates of recidivism of the pilot program compared to modern day Scared Straight style programs. The rates of recidivism among participants in the pilot program are significantly lower than those who participate today. In Petrosino s research, he found that 41% of children who participated in a Scared Straight style program in New Jersey committed a new crime after the program, while a control group, who came from the same background, but did not go through the program, showed only 11% recidivism. In contrast, the results of the pilot program showed only 6% of the participants returned to crime (Petrosino). Royster offers several explanations for this gap in rates of recidivism, one being the Hawthorne Effect. • 17. The Symbols Of Christianity During The Roman Era Symbols are utilized as a way for human beings to give expression their abstract ideas. Every religion and ideology has its own visual symbol, which illustrates a significant feature of its history or beliefs. Christianity is rich in tradition and symbolism. The most recognized symbol is the cross, the implement of the salvation. William Penn said, No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown. In Matthew 10:39 Jesus also stated, He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Jesus s crucifixion on the cross made the cross become one of the most influential symbols of Christianity for its victory over sin and death. The Christian cross comes in many different forms. According to Echol Lee Nix, there were four main types of crosses with significance during the Roman Era (pg. 75). First of all, the Latin Cross or crux ordinaria, also known as the Protestant Cross, is the most familiar symbol of Christianity. Even though it was once used as a pagan symbol for millennia before the Christian church was founded, the Latin Cross most resembles the shape of the structure upon which Jesus Christ was crucified. Second, there was the Crux Commissa also called the Cross of Tau , which was named after the Greek letter it resembles. It is also known as St. Anthony s Cross for its association with one of the most prominent saint in the Catholic faith. The Cross of Tau had been used as a pagan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby cleverly demonstrates the manners and morals commonly practiced throughout the time period. The plot revolves around several main themes and effectively expresses Fitzgerald s unique perspective. Daisy and her husband, Tom Buchanan, often attend parties hosted by Gatsby. Although these parties may be essentially hosted by him, Gatsby does not wholeheartedly attend. As he shrinks away to other areas of his home, Gatsby is able to avoid socializing with his guests. I made an attempt to find my host but the two or three people of whom I asked his whereabouts stared at me in such an amazed way and denied so vehemently any knowledge of his movement (46). This quote demonstrates how many of the partygoers have become used to Gatsby s nonattendance. With no heir to the throne, Scotland was easily captured and taken over by the King of England. The film Braveheart is an adaption of these historical events. In the film, the national identity of the Scottish people evolved in comparison from the beginning of the film to the end of it. There had always been a huge chasm between the different classes. With peasants on one end and the nobles on the other. This class separation resulted in the people of these groups to hold different views. As the legend of Wallace grew, so did the support. Clans from all over Scotland decided to join him in his fight that originally started as revenge, but transformed into a fight for freedom. As more and more battles were won, the legend of Wallace travelled all across the vast lands of Scotland. The death of the leader of the rebellion didn t stop the movement towards freedom there. William Wallace became a martyr to the people of Scotland. Towards the end of the film, there was a sense of patriotism towards the country, which wasn t present at the start. DESIGN OF FPEZ SOURCE NETWORK WITH REDUCED SWITCHES FED INDUCTION MOTOR K.Vasudevan1 and L.Parimala2 1Research scholar (PT) Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, Sriram Engineering College 2L.Parimala, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE, Sriram Engineering College, Chennai kp_vasu1@yahoo.com ABSTRACT: This Project deals with a fully parallel Embedded Z source inverter to control the three phase induction motor. Z Source inverter is a single stage converter which performs both buck boost energy conversions using the LC impedance network. The further advancement in the Z Source inverter is the partially parallel Embedded Z Source inverter that can produce same gain as Z Source inverter. Energy from the solar cell is taken as input to the EZ source inverter. The ripple content of the solar cell output voltage is reduced using Parallel EZ Source (PEZS) inverter. In order to overcome the drawbacks of PPEZS, Fully parallel EZ (FPEZS) Source inverter is proposed. The proposed inverters provide high boost voltage inversion ability, a lower voltage stress across the active switching devices, a continuous input current and a reduced voltage stress on the capacitors. In addition, they can suppress the startup inrush current, which otherwise might destroy the devices. The proposed system reduces six switch three phase inverter to four switch three phase inverter. This makes system compact which reduces cost and switching losses, line harmonics, improves power factor, reliability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Causes And Policies Of Financial Crises Causes and Policies in Financial Crises Financial Crises are well known phenomena in economics history; however, after the Great Financial Crisis of 2007 2009 the role that Central Banks play in order to prevent Financial Crises has been questioned. To begin with, it is important to understand that crises consist of highly complex macro financial linkages that reflect the interactions between the financial sector and the real economy (Claessens 2012). Additionally, it is important to highlight two different financial crises groups: Currency and sudden stop crisis, which have strictly quantitative definitions; and debt and banking crises that depend on qualitative and judgmental analysis (Claessens 2012). Nevertheless, the interconnectivity of the financial sector demonstrates that major crises are a blend of the different types; thus, the effects on real economy are larger (Laevene 2008). In consequence, governments and central banks have the responsibility to develop monetary and macro prudential policies to appropriately supervise and regulate the financial industry (Norgren 2010). However, central banks have failed to appropriately understand the main symptoms that precede financial crises: credit booms and asset booms (Bijapur 2015). In fact, it is essential to comprehend these symptoms in order to develop policies that strengthen the fragility of the financial industry; hence, upholding stable growth and inflation. The last major financial crises demonstrate that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It serves as the centerpiece for downtown Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up its country, and was designed by Adrian Smith, then representing Skidmore, Owings Merrill. It was under construction from January of 2004, until December of 2009, finally opening its doors on January 4th of 2010. The building is an embodiment of Islamic architecture, incorporating both cultural and historical elements of the region into the visage of the building. This style was chosen very deliberately, meant to enrich the, at the time, recently developed downtown Dubai. The building has since received widespread international attention for various reasons. Some laud the records that the building shattered and the many awards it has received, while others commend the manner in which it has elevated the city of Dubai. The Dubai government decided to build the Burj Khalifa as a way to diversify their economic portfolio. Their economy had long been based solely on oil and they decided that they wanted to generate more interest and international recognition for Dubai, thus increasing tourism and overall improving the emirate s economy. • 50. The Nature Of Village Life In The High Middle Ages The Nature of Village Life in The High Middle Ages One Ox and Luttrell Psalter are texts that I think give an interesting perspective on village life. Based on my readings of One Ox, I would characterize village life in the High Middle to have been ruled with aristocracy, secularism, and church, with a strong emphasis on farming, money, and markets showing an agrarian society. The Luttrell Psalter shows images of agriculture labor by peasants, men, women, and children alike showing the importance of agriculture, as well as a wealthy class of magistrates, showing the same ruling systems present in One Ox , but a market system, and secularism are absent. The ruling class of a village are shown in One Ox who are aristocrat and clergy figures, the officials the mayor of the village, provost, and celebrated priest of the church. Though it seems they are on the lower end of wealth, as they even have to partake in agriculture, There is no need for us to plow any longer in rainstorms. The mixture of church, and magistrates are seen between these three officials showing how the two must probably have to work together to run a village. There s different points in the story where the officials do many illegal things, but only get reprehended once in the market for inflation, ...in response to the abuse the assembly of shoe makers increases, with angered minds This shows something like guilds are present in markets. The practice of Nihilism is that of showing how the world has no morals and or beliefs that matter or are true. The Joker, an active Nihilist, or one that takes action upon his feelings, is looking to prove that nothing matter in the city of Gotham. He puts the people of Gotham through many dilemmas and situations in which the Joker was looking forwards to prove and show accuracy of his beliefs. The city of Gotham, the Gotham City Police Department or (GCPD), and Batman succeed and prevail, not falling back on their morals which include Batman s one rule, which he does not break, which is (Batman) never kill(s). Overall, three situations that show the Joker s defeat are the ferryboat situation, Batman not killing the Joker, and Harvey Dent becoming Two Face in which Harvey Dent dies a hero, or lives long enough to see himself become the villain. One of the Joker s great scenes in which he tries to put Batman to the test is in the many and countless situations in which the Joker tries to get Batman to kill him. The Joker almost gets Batman to kill him many times such as in the interrogation room, on the street when Batman is on the motorcycle, when the Joker is hanging upside down from Batman s hand off of a ledge of a building, etc. Batman s one rule is that he will not kill anyone, as seen in the rest of the movie.
