Parasitic computing involves solving large problems across various physically separated web servers to take advantage of distributed computing power. While TCP checksums help detect corrupted messages during transmission, internet-wide parasitic computing is only a theoretical consideration currently due to communication delays outweighing computation benefits and security risks to target nodes. For parasitic computing to be practical, the communication to computation ratio would need to be high enough to blur the line between the two.
