Gold Mining By Saudi Arabia
Far into one of Saudi Arabia s mud fields, which is measured to be greater than five soccer fields.
Saudi Arabia is known to have heaps of gold. Adam tries to remove gold, by diving profound into the
surface of a gold mining site. The gold mine had been prohibited by the town s nearby government,
because of the spread of different diseases, caused by the gold extraction. Many notices have been
given to the general population who endeavor to burrow for gold, however despite the fact that, Adam
s steadiness to keep burrowing is imperative. He has nothing left any longer; neither does his
significant other and his two kids. He wishes to desert destitution and carry on with a more

the magma is on the precarious edge of taking him in totally, Adam all of a sudden observes himself in
his home, with his eyes completely open, and heart beating redundantly, his better half remaining at a
short separation cooking lunch, while his kids playing and snickering. A sudden thump at the entryway

the entryway, shockingly he turned out to be a foundation development work enrollment specialist. An
extraordinary feeling of happiness is filling his heart, however by the by, he wouldn t have any desire

The Influence Of Homer s Odyssey On Margaret Atwood
Explain the influence of Homer s Odyssey on Margaret Atwood.
It is very clear that Atwood was influenced by The Odyssey when writing The Penelopiad. After
reading The Odyssey, it left Atwood with more questions than answers about the maids and Penelope.
Atwood waned to explore the poem from a female perspective. Atwood found many inconstancies in
the story of the maids which she wanted to explore. She also wanted to explore Penelope s role as a
wife, mother and materfamilias. Margaret Atwood said that after reading The Odyssey she had two
questions; what led to the hanging of the maids and what was Penelope really up to? In writing The
Penelopiad, she felt she was able to answer those questions. Atwood acknowledged that The Odyssey
recorded by Homer in a Patriarchal time period. This helped to shape and influence her desire to find
out the answers to her questions and inspired her to write The Penelopiad with a modern perspective.
I believe The Penelopiad was loosely based on some of the events that take place in The Odyssey. It is
a re interpretation of Penelope s life story, including her early childhood, marriage, the events leading
up to the hanging of the twelve maids and the reuniting of Odysseus and Penelope. Penelope, through
Atwood, retells her story from the Greek underworld. She wanted to break the cultural myths and
stereotypes about women that Homer had portrayed in The Odyssey. The Penelopiad does not retell
the story of The Odyssey.
The Odyssey is from

Plateau Colville Analysis
Do you know anything about how the Coastal and the Plateau use their surroundings? Or especially
how they survived? The Puyallup and the Colville tribes interacted with their environment to provide
food, shelter and clothing for their people.
The environments that the Coastal and plateau groups lived in affected the resources they had
available and impacted how they obtained their food and what they ate. For example on page 1234 the
text said, Some of the food that the Coastal Puyallup ate was, five kind of salmon that they caught.
Also they hunted deer, elk, black bear, beavers, raccoons, marmot. Similar to Coastal Puyallup The
Plateau Colville also hunted deer, elk, etc. But the Coastal Puyallup s primary food is salmon. And for
their dessert was fish eggs. However the Plateau Colville didn t eat salmon. Although on page 926 the

Essay On The Difference Between Civil Law And American...
Compared to the rest of the industrialized world, the United States is a fairly young country. As a
result, the U.S. has many institutions that differ from other advanced industrial democracies. One of
the most prominent differences between the U.S. and the rest of the industrialized world resides in our
legal systems. While the most common democratic judicial tradition, especially in social democracies,
is the civil law tradition, the U.S. differs and has a common law legal tradition. Many differences exist
between civil and common law traditions and the United States legal system would have stark changes
if it switched to a civil legal system.
A key difference between civil and common law legal systems is the role of the legal code. In civil
law, the legal code is the supreme source of justice in a society; a handbook on citizen rights,
responsibilities, and the law (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.97). In civil law, the the legal ...

In common law systems, less emphasis is placed on strictly following the words of the legal code, but
rather following the precedent set by previous cases findings. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier,
judges in common law nations have a prestigious connotation attached to their role. They hold a
highly sought after position and earn their black robe through the culmination of their legal career.
With the defendant under the presumption of innocence, these judges and the court act as neutral
actors and let the two opposing sides argue their case in front of a jury. Because of this, the common
law system is referred to as adversarial (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.100). One of the biggest
differences amongst common and civil law systems is the role of judicial review. Unlike in nations
with civil law, common law societies have a tremendous amount of judicial review oversight of
legislative or executive actions by the judiciary (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016,

Mental Illness In Macbeth
Shakespeare, Browning, and Carol Ann Duffy attempt to display their characters in such ways in order
to address heavy social issues within the times in which they were alive, through various writing
techniques.
It is important that we define the term disturbed in order to answer this question to high quality
standard. An adjective that describes the symptoms of mental illness, and psychosis. All traits of
which the writers characters possess.
Shakespeare evidentially displays Macbeths committing regicide in order to address the consequences
of treason towards the reader. Regicide was considered more than just murder back in Shakespearian
time; it could be compared to killing a God. Shakespeare deservingly uses the three witches in order ...

The use of guilt and sin must have been eccentric for Shakespeare, living amongst such a religious
audience, and yet writes so powerfully to which was seen against the words of God. Macbeth s sins
plunge him into a pit of guilt, leading him to an unstable state of mind, contributing to his disturbed
mind set. This slightly contrasts to Carol Ann Duffy s Education for Leisure as the orator doesn t seem
to feel any guilt or sympathy for the sins in which he has committed, unlike Macbeth who to which
changed his attitude., One cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other, as they had seen me with these
hangman s hands. List ning their fear, I could not say Amen, when they did say God bless us .
Methought, I heard a voice cry, Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep . This quote is spoken to
which by Macbeth after he is finished murdering King Duncan, the phrase Macbeth does murder sleep
cunningly refers to how Macbeth will suffer horribly from his actions by his guilt. The insomnia that
Macbeth suffers displays how he is uncomfortable after making a decision to try and claim his
manhood. Robert Browning The laboratory contrasts immensely to Macbeth, as the orator gets
pleasure out of the sins in which he/she has committed. Furthermore to which goes against the belief
of God, Empty church, to pray God in, for them! I am here so to which, his sins have no meaning,
which means there is no barrier blocking him from gaining his pleasure from his doings. However it
does slightly link in with another one of Robert Browning s pieces Porphyria s lover , it is clearly
evident that the orator has no sympathy what so ever for his victim, which he strangles to death, seen
as one of the most painful ways to die, but in order to cover his sins he try s to persuade himself that it

How Indian Stock Market Is Affected By Other Foreign Market
The world today is more connected that it has ever been. We are buying and selling things from and to
almost every other country in the world. The economies have financial relationship with large number
of countries and to some or greater extent they affect our economy and we affect theirs. Some of the
global market indices that have a key influence on Indian market are NYSE, NASDAQ, NIKKEI,
Dow Jones, FTSE, S P500, Kospai etc. So the aim of this project is to understand how Indian stock
market is affected by other foreign market. This study will help us in understanding the level of
interdependency among the major stock markets in the world and its impact on india s market. As the

However if the value of stock index is decreasing it indicates that in general corporate in the country
may be facing trouble. Increasing value of stock index also means that investors are gaining faith in
the economy.
Stock index can be constructed for entire world called global indices like S P global100, MSCI global
(MSCI which include over 6000 stocks from different parts of the developed world), for a particular
continent like (S P Latin America 500), for entire country like (sensex and nifty for India), or for a
particular sector like (BSE BANKEX for top banking companies in India).
How stock index is calculated?
A stock index is created by selecting a group of high performing stocks. Like the index of nation stock
exchange (India) is nifty50 and it comprises of 50 stocks. So if the value of the nifty index goes up it
means that most of the stocks in nifty are performing well.
A stock index can be calculated in two ways
1.By considering the price of the component stocks alone. This method is called the price weighted
method.
2.By considering the market value or size of the company called the capitalization weighted method.
Mostly for calculating the value of a index weighted market capitalization of the companies is used.
Example of index calculation:
Lets us see how the value of a stock index is calculated by taking the example of hypothetical stocks.
Consider the base index value is set to 100 for the stocks.

The Philosopher And The Filmmaker Michael Moore
At every point in history there are individuals who disagree with the norms of his or her society and
who advocate for social and political change. These individuals are referred to as agitators. While
these agitators come from across different historical time periods and locations some of them have
quite a bit in common. Even from as early as 399 BC to 2002, from as far as Athens, Greece to the
United States, there are agitators that had similar motivations and ways of achieving them. An
example would be the philosopher Socrates and the filmmaker Michael Moore. Despite some small
differences in approach, these two have many significant similarities as agitators. The most obvious
similarity between Socrates and Moore is that they are agitators, but it is more than them just
advocating social and political change. It s the methods in which they did so that were so similar. Both
of them seemed to address issues or put forth information that generated a lot of discomfort from the
people around them as well as criticism. For example, Moore has a part in his film that displays
instances of America supporting or creating corruption in other countries which leads to high levels of
violence (Moore). This among many of the other topics he discussed in the documentary caused a lot
of discomfort which led to harsh criticism such as an article entitled Bowling For Columbine:
Documentary or Fiction by David T. Hardy. He states that Bowling for Columbine is dishonest. It is

Climate Change Is A Real Threat
Climate Change is a Real Threat Climate change is happening, humans are causing it, and I think it is
perhaps the most serious environmental issue facing us. This quote from Bill Nye illustrates the
serious nature of climate change. Climate change is the most serious issue that is plaguing the world.
Global temperatures have been increasing in recent years and it is clear that our climate is changing.
Climate change is the change of temperature of our environment. A majority of scientists suspect that
humans are causing climate change by emitting CO2 into the atmosphere which creates a greenhouse
effect and warms the planet. The effects of climate change are far reaching, impacting ocean life and
plant life across the globe. It also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be disastrous for cities that are near the water. Business Insider states, Scientists have
identified 414 towns and cities in the United States that are guaranteed to eventually be underwater
(Sherlock). Climate change will not only be disastrous for people who live above ground, but also sea
life that lives in the ocean. As CO2 concentrations increase in the atmosphere, larger quantities of CO2
becomes dissolved into the oceans. This creates carbonic acid in the oceans and makes the ocean more
acidic. The increased acidity of the oceans is known as ocean acidification. According to the Pacific
Marine Environmental Laboratory, the pH of surface ocean waters has fallen by 0.1 pH units. Since
the pH scale is logarithmic, this change represents approximately a 30 percent increase in acidity
(Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory). Shellfish and coral cannot withstand a large increase in
acidity and this causes coral reefs to become bleached. Coral dies when the acidity becomes too high
and this causes the rest of the reef to die along with it. Scientific American states, growth and
calcification of massive Porites in the Great Barrier Reef are already declining and are doing so at a
rate unprecedented in coral records reaching back 400 years (Biello). Coral bleaching continues to
happen in coral reefs and will

What Is Segmentation and Marketing Strategy
Segmentation
Segmentation may be defined as the process of dividing a heterogeneous market into homogeneous
sub units.
To get a product or service to the right person or company, a marketer would firstly segment the
market, then target a single segment or series of segments, and finally position within the segment(s).
Segmentation is essentially the identification of subsets of buyers within a market who share similar
needs and who demonstrate similar buyer behavior. Segmentation aims to match groups of purchasers
with the same set of needs and buyer behavior. Such a group is known as a segment .
Importance of segmentation
The essence of the marketing concept is the idea of placing customer needs at the centre of ... Show

Is it easy for you to target and reach your segment? Can they be reached with basic communication
tools such as radio and TV advertising? If you cannot target your segment effectively with marketing
communication then it is not viable. The marketer must be able to reach the segment. It is no good
identifying a potential segment if you cannot serve it because of government regulations or location,
etc.
3. Suitability of segment: Is there enough spending power within the segment for the company to
sustain itself.?
4. Meaningful The base(s) used must lead to segments, which have different preferences or needs and
show clear variations in market behaviour, and response to individually designed marketing mixes.
5. Substantial The base(s) used should lead to segments, which are sufficiently large to be
economically and practically worthwhile, serving as discrete market targets with a distinctive
marketing mix. It must be large enough to warrant activity on the part of the marketer. In the extreme
example above, the woman with green hair could not be described as a substantial segment.
6. Actionability of segment: Does the organisation have enough resources to reach their segments?. It
is no point in targeting segments you do not have the resources to cater for. If you were a car
manufacturer the organisation

Theme Of The Boy In The Jacket By Gary Soto
Elementary school is a big step, especially getting ready for middle school. For example, if one is
bitter towards someone, meaning jealous or angry, then their middle school years won t go very well.
They will go through being angry and it will make them focus on less important things rather than
their studies or sports. Similar to the boy in The Jacket by Gary Soto, he goes through his life being
jealous of kids that are happy or have good relationships and new clothes. The boy does not like the
jacket his mother got him and, does not appreciate it enough, even though it gets the job done. In other
words, one does not get what they always want, one has to appreciate what they get, this supports the
overarching theme and is represented by the symbolism, the setting, and the metaphors.
First, the metaphors in The Jacket support the theme because they help clarify that everything one has
is important. In the article the boy says, That green ugly brother who breathed over my shoulder that

story says, I wanted to cry because it was so ugly and so big that I knew I d have to wear it a long

it. He is just complaining about it, he doesn t realize what good it will do to

Modern Day Society And Creative Industries
Scriptwriters and Their Role in Modern Day Society
What would Hollywood and its producers do without scriptwriters? A person with a camera can only
do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to build a movie up from. Essentially, an
excellent script is the foundation for a brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest
of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama. I
was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the writing aspect of the class.
I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without having to look them directly in the eyes,
and I still feel this way today. Due to this feeling, I sense that I would make a decent scriptwriter.
Carrying on, this paper further examines the substantial role of the scriptwriter in modern day society
and creative industries. According to the National Careers Service, a career search website based in
the United Kingdom, scriptwriters are writers who create screenplays (2015). Constructing characters,
shaping dialogue, and writing an engaging plot are all part of a scriptwriter s profession
(AllAboutCareers Ltd, 2015). As a screenwriter, one might expect to develop their own original ideas
through writing and words to sell to producers. Some producers may even commission a scriptwriter
to create a screenplay based on an idea or true story. Additionally, scriptwriters are often asked to

Speech On Beauty And Beauty
A girl, just a normal girl. One who attends a Middle School in the city she lives in. She wakes up and
skips breakfast in order for her to have time to fix her appearance that she believes, or tries to make
others believe is not up to social standards. When she gets to school, she rushes through the hallways
full of makeup and expensive clothes, goes to choir. There, she leans over to a fellow student and asks,
or rather says, my hair is actually trash. Curls without a single strand of hair out of place is what she is

Theme Of Tradition In The Good Earth
Tradition is defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as an inherited, established, or customary
pattern of thought, action, or behavior (such as a religious practice or a social custom) . The role of
tradition plays an important part in Pearl S. Buck s The Good Earth as it the characters live their life
around the customs. It especially shapes Wang Lung s life as he followed certain practices, but defied
others that he did not feel were so important to him. This influenced the way he related to his father
and uncle and it played a part in his daily life. He tried to stick to his family rituals of working on the
land, wearing a braid, and respecting his elders. Even though he strayed away from these values as he
got older, he mostly found his way back. Tradition (culture?) plays a huge role and the start of The
Good Earth and later diminishes. People believe that you should respect your elders, listen to the gods,
and follow what life is planned for you. If one were to speak against their elders, they would no longer

The major values that they challenge are respecting your elders and the value of the land. They did not
respect their father s wishes, especially the third son. Wang Lung s third son became a soldier even

because they did not grow up poor and ??. At the end of the novel, when they want to sell the land is

text it states, If you sell the land, it is the end. ... Rest assured, our father, rest assured. The land is not

Compare And Contrast Queen Elizabeth I And King Elizabeth I
Cedric Lancaster Professor Weaver Organizational Leadership Queen Elizabeth I vs. King Henry V:
Comparison and Contrast of Two Leaders Throughout history select individuals have been
documented as a result of their ability to lead, or lack there of. The documentation over the years has
been helpful to historians, scholars, and the general population when trying to better understand the
characteristics of a leader. Two of the most memorable leaders in world history are Queen Elizabeth I
and King Henry V who both shared the duty of ruler over England at some point in their life. Both
Queen Elizabeth I and King Henry V are held in high regard as a result of their accomplishments and
their over all success as a leader. This essay will discuss both Queen Elizabeth I and King Henry V in
regards to their leadership, how they displayed leadership and the outcomes of their individual
leadership processes. In order to gain a sufficient understanding of a leader, or person in general, it is
important that you understand the background from which the person originated. A person s family
life and experiences as a young child are the building blocks for the foundation in which that person
refers to when making decisions. Queen Elizabeth I was born to the Tudor family on September 7,
1533 in Greenwhich to King Henry VIII and Anne Boelyn. Elizabeth was welcomed in to the world

A Madman s Diary By Lu Xun Analysis
Many authors use their work to express their thoughts about the flaws in the societies in which they
live. Lu Xun masks his criticisms of the once feudal society in China in his story, A Madman s Diary,
by comparing the feudalistic society to cannibalism. The story begins with the narrator going to visit
two brothers. Upon arrival, the narrator learns that the younger of the two brothers has recently been
cured of madness, and moved away. The older sibling offers the narrator his brother s diary for the
narrator to read. After the narrator s explanation of how he got the madman s diary, the rest of the
story is composed of various entries from the diary the narrator was given. In the diary entries, it is
learned that the madman is very fearful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Madman s Diary, the madman is the only one who is truly in touch with reality. He is the only
one who is seeing the true cannibalistic nature of the feudal system. The metaphor between
cannibalism and feudalism is meant to convey to the readers the flaws of the feudal system without Lu
Xun directly criticizing the system. Even though the madman is currently terrified of the society he is
living in, he shows hope for a better future. In the last diary entry, he ponders the possibility of the
nature of this society changing. He questions whether or not there are children who have not
consumed other people. He says that the children need to be saved from the nature of this society of
consuming other people to live. This represents Lu Xun s belief that the feudalistic society can change
if the ways of that society are not taught to the children and that he has hope for the future of society.
...The narrator cultivates and maintains the courage to hope that the future for the children of China
will be separate from the past (Laws 51). Lu Xun conveys a sense of hope for a better future in China
through the madman s hope in the story. The madman is the only one who is truly aware of the
problems of the society that they live in. Everyone else around him simply seems to accept the ways
of life. Metaphorically, this is representative of how normal people are blind to the problems of the
feudal system, and that it would take a madman to see the issues behind how they are living. Lu Xun
uses the madman s fear of cannibalism in society to convey to readers his own fear of

Social Construction Of Gender And Masculinity
Throughout childhood children are exposed to many factors, which may influence their actions and
attitudes regarding the social construction of gender, specifically masculinity and femininity. Children
s attitudes are influenced by a variety of external sources, but are most strongly influenced by their
home life and parents. Parents are responsible for nurturing and teaching children about multiple
aspects in life, including gender norms; this occurs both consciously and unconsciously. One way
parents pass on their beliefs about gender and gender norms are through the giving of heteronormative
toys. Toys children play with and are exposed to subtly and not so subtly teach gender norms and
mores that are accepted in society; furthermore, the association of color and toy genre reinforce the
social construction of gender and how males are supposed to exhibit masculinity while females exhibit
femininity.
Masculinity and femininity are social constructions based on the biological terms male and female,
respectively. Masculinity is often associated with the terms active, strong, dominant, and not
nurturing; whereas, femininity is often associated with the terms passive, weak, submissive, and
nurturing (Shaw Lee 123, 126, 131). In today s society, due to gender socialization, people generally
believe that men should display masculinity while women should display femininity; this social belief
is learned and initially taught to young children through heteronormative toys.

Fossil Fuels And Renewable Energy Essay
Finding energy sources is an issue that polarizes scientists, politicians and citizens alike. The most
critical points of this debate are at fossil fuels and renewable energy. Energy efficiency is arguably the
most dire concern facing the planet, because it significantly impacts all areas of everyday life.
Common ground can be found in this controversy because both parties do agree that humans have a
responsibility to future generations. That responsibility is to preserve the resources of the Earth, while
offering this generation energy that is affordable and accessible.
Many people contend that fossil fuels, while being the most cost effective source of energy, have
detrimental effects on the environment. Others argue that fossil fuels have little negative
environmental impact and that producing alternative energy is too economically prohibitive to be
feasible. In 2010, the Gallup Poll conducted a national poll that found half of the Americans surveyed
favored expanding energy production via fossil fuels even if it harms the environment. This was the
case in nearly every major demographic subgroup, although self identified liberals remained constant
in supporting environmental protection as the higher priority (McDermott).
Of these two types of energy production, fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal make up about ninety
percent of the world s energy usage. Nuclear power takes up five percent of this equation, with the
remaining renewable energy resources splitting

Art Essay
The context, of which art is created, clearly reflects its history and where it is from. Society s values

The Spanish Empire, in an effort to increase its size and spread Catholicism, carried out many
conquests overseas. In Bautista s work Still Life with Grapes, Flowers, and Shells, 1628 reflects the
new delights that the new world had to offer . The arrangement of shells and exotic birds and flowers,
is a combination of old and new: with a traditional style of painting depicting exciting and unexplored
goods. This could possibly be a metaphor for the rather old and powerful Spanish empire, exploring
into the unknown. The subtle uses of bright bold colours of peach and chartreuse, as well as warm
earth tones are a clear reflection of the South American tropics, along with their exotic flora and fauna,
and humid climate. It also creates moods of excitement in anticipation of what else there is to explore.
The lusciousness of the brush strokes and use of highlights give the painting a new life, in the both
things harsh like the foliage of the plants and soft like plumage of the birds. The sombre background
and traditional table ground the contrasting arrangement and forms the basic structure of the piece. It
also competes with the display, just like Spain and its conquest against other nations.

Egalitarianism In The 1700s
Starting in the late 1700s there has been an adjustment in the various countries of the Middle East and
North Africa. It is a known fact that in these areas there is a hierarchy of tribal, ethnic, familial;
despite the weakening of the traditional social framework and the erosion of the status of the
traditional tribal, ethnic, and religious notables. While this is still true to this day there have been
many changes from the 1700s to the second colonial areas that have brought about new political

where young intellectual elites would be studying and benefited from the exposure to Western ideas.
Bashir Sfar believed that the French could benefit the lives of the Tunisians through rural colonization.
However, this idea did not get implemented and the official colonization left Sfar bitter and angry.

In the last century and a half, the United States Government has grown significantly in size, scope,

Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction
According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous
conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) .
When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as
well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements
are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the
operations of disparate business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when

Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have
become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as
operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to
increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies
provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite
the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will
focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In
a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea
that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption
behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are
at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated
(organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The
goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by
each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased
revenues, and in some instances a

The Island Of Jamaica, Jamaica
For our travel report project I chose the island of Jamaica, a place that I have been longing to visit for
quite sometime. Jamaica is an island that is a part of the Greater Antilles located 90 miles south of
Cuba and 100 miles west of Haiti. The island has an area of 4,243 square miles and a 635 mile
coastline. This beautiful island is covered in rugged mountains, with some being volcanic, and has its
highest peak on Blue Mountain at 7,401 feet! (Briney) As of July 2014 the population of Jamaica is
2,930,050 people, which is completely understandable considering its awesome climate! The island s
climate varies depending on your location on the island. On the coast the temperatures tend to be
tropical, hot and humid, but more temperate inland. The capital of the island, Kingston, has average
July high temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and January average low temperatures of 66 degrees
Fahrenheit. (Briney) The first inhabitants of Jamaica were the Arawaks who were from South
America. Later on, in 1494, Christopher Columbus was the first European to explore the island. In
1510, decedents from Spain began to settle in. After the Europeans began to settle, they brought war
and disease to the island and this greatly affected the Arawaks and eventually they died off. The
British arrived in 1655 and took Jamaica from Spain. Then, in 1670 Britain took full formal control of
Jamaica. Near the 1930s, Jamaica began to gain its independence from Britain and in 1944 it had its

Essay On Dynamic Range
Dynamic range defined as the range of the lightest and darkest areas of an image which camera can
successfully capture without losing detail. Our real world environment dynamic range is high that
exceeds the capabilities of modern display devices with limited dynamic range. A problem appears
when displaying high dynamic range image in low dynamic range display devices, so the tone
mapping technique has been used to solve this problem. In this paper, new adjustment tone mapping
technique is presented for displaying high dynamic range image on a low dynamic range device
without any lose in image details and maintains contrast of the image. Instead of linearly scaling the
luminance of all pixels or introduce local gamma correction with ... Show more content on

Tone mapping technique used to map high dynamic range images to low dynamic range image that
will be displayed on recent devices, thus keeping the image looking realistic. The tone mapping
operators can be classiïŹed into two categories: global operators and local operators. Global operator
task depends on the same mapping function is used for all the pixels of the input HDR image so,
global operators can be described as spatially uniform methods. Global tone mapping operators are
computationally very simple and maintain the intensity orders of the original scenes thus avoiding
halo artifacts, but cause loss of details in the mapped images. Local operators which reproduce the
tonal values in a spatially variant manner because mapping function processes for each individual
pixel. Local operators characterized that more satisfying than global operators in terms of the detail
preservation and compression ratio of the dynamic range. Also, there are two tone mapping model
linear tone mapping model and nonlinear tone mapping model. Linear model does not need multiscale
decomposition or segmentation of the images into binary or fractional maps, where the problems
associated with layer decomposition are not found. Linear model not only interested in making the
output images looks natural by enhancing the pixel intensity more significantly in highlights, but also
satisfies high radiance similarity with

Women in Ancient Rome Essay
Women in Ancient Rome
In Roman times women were treated differently depending on their class, and family background.
However Roman women off all social classes were expected to assume, that they were merely
possessions of their fathers and then of their husband.
Many Romans told a story (below) about a woman named Cornelia, a Roman woman of the second
century BC:
An upper class women from Campania was staying with Cornelia, a mother of the Gracchi brothers.
She continually boasted about her jewels which were the most beautiful to be seen at that time,
Cornelia kept her talking until her children returned home from their lessons, then she said to the
women: these are my jewels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In AD 14, the Emperor Augustus, on his death bed, is reported to have told his wife, Livia;
always remember whose wife you have been .
Freeborn Roman women were never allowed to forget that people always regarded them as someone s
daughter, wife or mother, but never as an individual who has their own rights.
Daughters
Roman daughters, much like Greek daughters, were always in the custody of the oldest male in her
family and had to obey their rules. (The paterfamilias) the head of the household. In the Roman law,
the paterfamilias was so important and powerful that he had the right over everyone s life in his
family.
The daughters name as simply the name of her fathers but in a feminine form, there was nothing
personal in a daughter s name. If the father was called (Marcus Tullius Cicero) the daughter would be
simply be called Tullia. If however more than one daughter was born in that family then to prevent
confusion she would be called Tullia the younger, or Tullia the second, and so on.
We know this because historian s found evidence of this, from letters written on papyrus sheets that
have survived from Roman times.
Laws passed by Roman emperor s show that unwanted children were exposed and left to die in public
places, often on rubbish heaps. The precise number of female babies left to rot like this is unknown;

Etha-Not a Good Idea Essay
Etha Not a Good Idea Ethanol is the fuel of the future. Really? How so? Ethanol will solve the energy
crisis. That sounds a little far fetched. Ethanol stimulates time travel. Alright, that s just a flat out lie. It
seems that these days everybody and their brother thinks that ethanol is the magic key to the future of
powering automobiles and solving the problem of dependence on foreign oil. Well, that is not the case.
Ethanol is not the energy source of the future; in fact ethanol only creates more energy problems.
When Nicolaus Otto built his famous four stroke engine in 1876, he chose it to use gasoline (Gilles 2).
It was probably because gasoline was the most abundant fuel, and because it had a relatively high
energy density ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the final results came in, gasoline came out on top. Surprise, surprise. To go 667 miles, it took
36.5 gallons of gasoline, whereas it took 50 gallons of E85 to go that same distance. That s a 26.5
percent drop in fuel economy. And having to drive all the way to find a service station that has ethanol
will definitely not help keep the tank full, which shows that gasoline is better for mileage, kit and
caboodle. (Edmunds and Reed)
These two authorities in the automotive field made an addition to the experiment: performance of the
same Tahoe on ethanol and gasoline. Not only were the standard 0 60 and quarter mile tests done, but
also a test for something more common in everyday driving, a 50 70 miles per hour highway test. In
the quarter mile test, gasoline eked out a win, taking the gold by three tenths of a second and finishing
about two miles an hour faster. The naught to 60 test is where good ol fashioned gasoline blew ethanol
out of the water. Gasoline was faster than ethanol by five tenths of a second in reaching the mark of 60
miles an hour. The only time ethanol was faster than gasoline was when there was a mechanical glitch
in the transmission in the 50 70, but without glitches, gasoline was still faster. (Edmunds and Reed)
One might say, Oh, well gasoline may be fast now, but how fast will it be when there isn t any more
gasoline left? Valid point, gasoline won t

The Sinaloa Cartel Is Considered The Largest And...
The Sinaloa Cartel is considered the largest and wealthiest organized crime syndicate in the Western
Hemisphere. Run by drug kingpin Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, the Sinaloa Cartel is the biggest player
in the Mexican drug trafficking trade. Mexican drug trafficking is estimated by analysts to be worth
$13 billion US a year, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC, 2015, par. 2). Heavily
involved in the production and distribution of marijuana, cocaine and opium, the Sinaloa Cartel is also
operates prostitution rings and deals in human trafficking. According to CBC, analysts estimate that
since 2006, 70,000 people have been killed in drug related violence. The Sinaloa Cartel is the United
States Government s biggest obstacle in the international war on drugs and its diabolical leader is once
again free. In order to understand the magnitude of the Sinaloa Cartel, it must be compared with other
cartels from the past. In the 1970s and 80s, the marijuana and cocaine trades were dominated by the
Columbians, most notably, the Medellin Cartel. Making its prominent rise under the direction of drug
queen pin Griselda Blanco, the Columbians reached their height of power while following the lead of
the legendary drug trafficker Pablo Escobar. A Columbian, Blanco made her name on the streets of
New York and Miami. She is responsible for an estimated 250 deaths. Many of the murders Blanco
committed personally (McGasco, 2015, par. 12). In relation to the Medellin Cartel s

Suicide Prevention For The Kern County Mental Health Hotline
My family and friends don t quite understand my motivations to become a mental health counselor.
Personally, I can think of nothing more rewarding than helping people through dark times and giving
hope for a brighter future. Deep down, I m an idealist with enough life experience to pepper my
expectations. There are countless possible research topics within the mental health field, but I ve
recently developed a deep appreciation of suicide prevention since volunteering for the Kern County
Mental Health Hotline. I ve also become acutely aware of the relationship between suicide and mood
disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. According to the CDC, suicide is the second
leading cause of death for people aged 15 34 years old, and the 10th leading cause of death overall. An
estimated 90% of those who have died by suicide suffered from mental illness. That makes mental
illness the top risk factor (NAMI, 2016). I was able to find these statistics quite readily, but I couldn t
find anything relating specifically to mood disorders. Since I am not sure of what type of research
already exists on the subject matter, a literature review would be the perfect place to start. Not only
would a review help verify that this is direction of research has potential, it would help to develop my
understanding of the topic. If I do find that work has been done on the topic, I could narrow my scope
to focus on points not previously covered. If I review the preexisting work and

  • 3. The Influence Of Homer s Odyssey On Margaret Atwood Explain the influence of Homer s Odyssey on Margaret Atwood. It is very clear that Atwood was influenced by The Odyssey when writing The Penelopiad. After reading The Odyssey, it left Atwood with more questions than answers about the maids and Penelope. Atwood waned to explore the poem from a female perspective. Atwood found many inconstancies in the story of the maids which she wanted to explore. She also wanted to explore Penelope s role as a wife, mother and materfamilias. Margaret Atwood said that after reading The Odyssey she had two questions; what led to the hanging of the maids and what was Penelope really up to? In writing The Penelopiad, she felt she was able to answer those questions. Atwood acknowledged that The Odyssey recorded by Homer in a Patriarchal time period. This helped to shape and influence her desire to find out the answers to her questions and inspired her to write The Penelopiad with a modern perspective. I believe The Penelopiad was loosely based on some of the events that take place in The Odyssey. It is a re interpretation of Penelope s life story, including her early childhood, marriage, the events leading up to the hanging of the twelve maids and the reuniting of Odysseus and Penelope. Penelope, through Atwood, retells her story from the Greek underworld. She wanted to break the cultural myths and stereotypes about women that Homer had portrayed in The Odyssey. The Penelopiad does not retell the story of The Odyssey. The Odyssey is from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Puyallup and the Colville tribes interacted with their environment to provide food, shelter and clothing for their people. • 5. Essay On The Difference Between Civil Law And American... Compared to the rest of the industrialized world, the United States is a fairly young country. As a result, the U.S. has many institutions that differ from other advanced industrial democracies. One of the most prominent differences between the U.S. and the rest of the industrialized world resides in our legal systems. While the most common democratic judicial tradition, especially in social democracies, is the civil law tradition, the U.S. differs and has a common law legal tradition. Many differences exist between civil and common law traditions and the United States legal system would have stark changes if it switched to a civil legal system. A key difference between civil and common law legal systems is the role of the legal code. In civil law, the legal code is the supreme source of justice in a society; a handbook on citizen rights, responsibilities, and the law (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.97). In civil law, the the legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In common law systems, less emphasis is placed on strictly following the words of the legal code, but rather following the precedent set by previous cases findings. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, judges in common law nations have a prestigious connotation attached to their role. They hold a highly sought after position and earn their black robe through the culmination of their legal career. With the defendant under the presumption of innocence, these judges and the court act as neutral actors and let the two opposing sides argue their case in front of a jury. Because of this, the common law system is referred to as adversarial (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, p.100). One of the biggest differences amongst common and civil law systems is the role of judicial review. Unlike in nations with civil law, common law societies have a tremendous amount of judicial review oversight of legislative or executive actions by the judiciary (Poloni Staudinger and Wolf 2016, ... The Philosopher And The Filmmaker Michael Moore At every point in history there are individuals who disagree with the norms of his or her society and who advocate for social and political change. These individuals are referred to as agitators. While these agitators come from across different historical time periods and locations some of them have quite a bit in common. Even from as early as 399 BC to 2002, from as far as Athens, Greece to the United States, there are agitators that had similar motivations and ways of achieving them. An example would be the philosopher Socrates and the filmmaker Michael Moore. Despite some small differences in approach, these two have many significant similarities as agitators. The most obvious similarity between Socrates and Moore is that they are agitators, but it is more than them just advocating social and political change. It s the methods in which they did so that were so similar. As CO2 concentrations increase in the atmosphere, larger quantities of CO2 becomes dissolved into the oceans. This creates carbonic acid in the oceans and makes the ocean more acidic. The increased acidity of the oceans is known as ocean acidification. According to the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, the pH of surface ocean waters has fallen by 0.1 pH units. • 19. Modern Day Society And Creative Industries Scriptwriters and Their Role in Modern Day Society What would Hollywood and its producers do without scriptwriters? A person with a camera can only do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to build a movie up from. Essentially, an excellent script is the foundation for a brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama. I was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the writing aspect of the class. I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without having to look them directly in the eyes, and I still feel this way today. Due to this feeling, I sense that I would make a decent scriptwriter. Carrying on, this paper further examines the substantial role of the scriptwriter in modern day society and creative industries. According to the National Careers Service, a career search website based in the United Kingdom, scriptwriters are writers who create screenplays (2015). Constructing characters, shaping dialogue, and writing an engaging plot are all part of a scriptwriter s profession (AllAboutCareers Ltd, 2015). As a screenwriter, one might expect to develop their own original ideas through writing and words to sell to producers. Some producers may even commission a scriptwriter to create a screenplay based on an idea or true story. Additionally, scriptwriters are often asked to adapt an existing ... She wakes up and skips breakfast in order for her to have time to fix her appearance that she believes, or tries to make others believe is not up to social standards. When she gets to school, she rushes through the hallways full of makeup and expensive clothes, goes to choir. There, she leans over to a fellow student and asks, or rather says, my hair is actually trash. Curls without a single strand of hair out of place is what she is supposedly putting down. She does this everyday and each time the other student feels pressured into complimenting her and bringing her spirits back up to know that her curls are in fact; flawless. Approximately 80% of U.S women, including teens, don t like how they look, says Heather G. Gallivan of the Park Nicollet Melrose Center. Parents, family members, and friends a girl keeps can also affect how they feel about their body. If a girls surroundings never mention anything or comment on anything about a girls look in a kind and honest way, they search and search for anyone simply to compliment how they look, by insulting themselves to hear that they look good out of pity. Lu Xun masks his criticisms of the once feudal society in China in his story, A Madman s Diary, by comparing the feudalistic society to cannibalism. The story begins with the narrator going to visit two brothers. Upon arrival, the narrator learns that the younger of the two brothers has recently been cured of madness, and moved away. The older sibling offers the narrator his brother s diary for the narrator to read. He is the only one who is seeing the true cannibalistic nature of the feudal system. The metaphor between cannibalism and feudalism is meant to convey to the readers the flaws of the feudal system without Lu Xun directly criticizing the system. Even though the madman is currently terrified of the society he is living in, he shows hope for a better future. In the last diary entry, he ponders the possibility of the nature of this society changing. He questions whether or not there are children who have not consumed other people. He says that the children need to be saved from the nature of this society of consuming other people to live. This represents Lu Xun s belief that the feudalistic society can change if the ways of that society are not taught to the children and that he has hope for the future of society. ...The narrator cultivates and maintains the courage to hope that the future for the children of China will be separate from the past (Laws 51). Social Construction Of Gender And Masculinity Throughout childhood children are exposed to many factors, which may influence their actions and attitudes regarding the social construction of gender, specifically masculinity and femininity. Children s attitudes are influenced by a variety of external sources, but are most strongly influenced by their home life and parents. Parents are responsible for nurturing and teaching children about multiple aspects in life, including gender norms; this occurs both consciously and unconsciously. One way parents pass on their beliefs about gender and gender norms are through the giving of heteronormative toys. Toys children play with and are exposed to subtly and not so subtly teach gender norms and mores that are accepted in society; furthermore, the association of color and toy genre reinforce the social construction of gender and how males are supposed to exhibit masculinity while females exhibit femininity. Masculinity and femininity are social constructions based on the biological terms male and female, respectively. • 25. Fossil Fuels And Renewable Energy Essay Finding energy sources is an issue that polarizes scientists, politicians and citizens alike. The most critical points of this debate are at fossil fuels and renewable energy. Energy efficiency is arguably the most dire concern facing the planet, because it significantly impacts all areas of everyday life. Common ground can be found in this controversy because both parties do agree that humans have a responsibility to future generations. That responsibility is to preserve the resources of the Earth, while offering this generation energy that is affordable and accessible. Many people contend that fossil fuels, while being the most cost effective source of energy, have detrimental effects on the environment. Others argue that fossil fuels have little negative environmental impact and that producing alternative energy is too economically prohibitive to be feasible. In 2010, the Gallup Poll conducted a national poll that found half of the Americans surveyed favored expanding energy production via fossil fuels even if it harms the environment. This was the case in nearly every major demographic subgroup, although self identified liberals remained constant in supporting environmental protection as the higher priority (McDermott). Of these two types of energy production, fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal make up about ninety percent of the world s energy usage. However, the area was sparsely populated until the first quarter of the 18th century. As traffic on the road between Philadelphia and Trenton increased, the community that would become Langhorne became a transportation hub for the stagecoach line. Originally, the community was known as Four Lanes End before its name was changed to Attleborough. When the village was incorporated in 1876, the name was changed to Langhorne in honor of an early resident, Jeremiah Langhorne. Termites feed on wood, so any structure with wood siding, wood studs in the walls, wood floor joists or any other component that attracts termites can fall victim to an infestation. Unfortunately, termite infestations can go undiscovered for many years, and by the time that termites are identified, they may have caused thousands of dollars in damage. Whether you own a residential or commercial property, you will need expert, effective treatment to eliminate termites and prevent additional damage. Bed Bug Control Once thought eradicated in the United States, bed bugs have made a comeback in recent years. Contrary to what some people believe, bed bugs are seldom a reflection on the cleanliness of the property. Bed bugs have been found in expensive hotels, upscale boutiques, hospitals and airplanes as well as movie theaters, taxis and libraries. They may be brought home from a cruise or a train ride. Bed bugs are difficult to see and are quite reclusive. Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) . When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the operations of disparate business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when synergies are used to initiate certain business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated (organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased revenues, and in some instances a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was able to get blood return and hit the vein; however, I was not able to advance the guidewire. I was able to advance it one time and put the catheter in, and it was nonfunctioning. I had to take the catheter out and tried multiple other times on the right IJ vein without success. That procedure was terminated. Pressure was applied. There was no cervical hematoma whatsoever. Hemodynamically, he was unchanged, and his oxygen saturations remained stable.I prepped the IJ vein area in the usual fashion. One percent lidocaine was used for local anesthesia. • 41. The Island Of Jamaica, Jamaica For our travel report project I chose the island of Jamaica, a place that I have been longing to visit for quite sometime. Jamaica is an island that is a part of the Greater Antilles located 90 miles south of Cuba and 100 miles west of Haiti. The island has an area of 4,243 square miles and a 635 mile coastline. This beautiful island is covered in rugged mountains, with some being volcanic, and has its highest peak on Blue Mountain at 7,401 feet! (Briney) As of July 2014 the population of Jamaica is 2,930,050 people, which is completely understandable considering its awesome climate! The island s climate varies depending on your location on the island. On the coast the temperatures tend to be tropical, hot and humid, but more temperate inland. The capital of the island, Kingston, has average July high temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and January average low temperatures of 66 degrees Fahrenheit. (Briney) The first inhabitants of Jamaica were the Arawaks who were from South America. Later on, in 1494, Christopher Columbus was the first European to explore the island. In 1510, decedents from Spain began to settle in. After the Europeans began to settle, they brought war and disease to the island and this greatly affected the Arawaks and eventually they died off. The British arrived in 1655 and took Jamaica from Spain. Then, in 1670 Britain took full formal control of Jamaica. Near the 1930s, Jamaica began to gain its independence from Britain and in 1944 it had its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tone mapping technique used to map high dynamic range images to low dynamic range image that will be displayed on recent devices, thus keeping the image looking realistic. The tone mapping operators can be classiïŹed into two categories: global operators and local operators. Global operator task depends on the same mapping function is used for all the pixels of the input HDR image so, global operators can be described as spatially uniform methods. Global tone mapping operators are computationally very simple and maintain the intensity orders of the original scenes thus avoiding halo artifacts, but cause loss of details in the mapped images. Local operators which reproduce the tonal values in a spatially variant manner because mapping function processes for each individual pixel. Local operators characterized that more satisfying than global operators in terms of the detail preservation and compression ratio of the dynamic range. Also, there are two tone mapping model linear tone mapping model and nonlinear tone mapping model. Linear model does not need multiscale decomposition or segmentation of the images into binary or fractional maps, where the problems associated with layer decomposition are not found. Linear model not only interested in making the output images looks natural by enhancing the pixel intensity more significantly in highlights, but also satisfies high radiance similarity with ... However Roman women off all social classes were expected to assume, that they were merely possessions of their fathers and then of their husband. • 45. Etha-Not a Good Idea Essay Etha Not a Good Idea Ethanol is the fuel of the future. Really? How so? Ethanol will solve the energy crisis. That sounds a little far fetched. Ethanol stimulates time travel. Alright, that s just a flat out lie. It seems that these days everybody and their brother thinks that ethanol is the magic key to the future of powering automobiles and solving the problem of dependence on foreign oil. Well, that is not the case. Ethanol is not the energy source of the future; in fact ethanol only creates more energy problems. When Nicolaus Otto built his famous four stroke engine in 1876, he chose it to use gasoline (Gilles 2). It was probably because gasoline was the most abundant fuel, and because it had a relatively high energy density ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the final results came in, gasoline came out on top. Surprise, surprise. To go 667 miles, it took 36.5 gallons of gasoline, whereas it took 50 gallons of E85 to go that same distance. That s a 26.5 percent drop in fuel economy. And having to drive all the way to find a service station that has ethanol will definitely not help keep the tank full, which shows that gasoline is better for mileage, kit and caboodle. (Edmunds and Reed) These two authorities in the automotive field made an addition to the experiment: performance of the same Tahoe on ethanol and gasoline. Not only were the standard 0 60 and quarter mile tests done, but also a test for something more common in everyday driving, a 50 70 miles per hour highway test. In the quarter mile test, gasoline eked out a win, taking the gold by three tenths of a second and finishing about two miles an hour faster. The naught to 60 test is where good ol fashioned gasoline blew ethanol out of the water. Gasoline was faster than ethanol by five tenths of a second in reaching the mark of 60 miles an hour. The only time ethanol was faster than gasoline was when there was a mechanical glitch in the transmission in the 50 70, but without glitches, gasoline was still faster. (Edmunds and Reed) One might say, Oh, well gasoline may be fast now, but how fast will it be when there isn t any more gasoline left? Valid point, gasoline won t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personally, I can think of nothing more rewarding than helping people through dark times and giving hope for a brighter future. Deep down, I m an idealist with enough life experience to pepper my expectations. There are countless possible research topics within the mental health field, but I ve recently developed a deep appreciation of suicide prevention since volunteering for the Kern County Mental Health Hotline. I ve also become acutely aware of the relationship between suicide and mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. According to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death for people aged 15 34 years old, and the 10th leading cause of death overall. An estimated 90% of those who have died by suicide suffered from mental illness. That makes mental illness the top risk factor (NAMI, 2016). I was able to find these statistics quite readily, but I couldn t find anything relating specifically to mood disorders. Since I am not sure of what type of research already exists on the subject matter, a literature review would be the perfect place to start. Not only would a review help verify that this is direction of research has potential, it would help to develop my understanding of the topic.
