Henry Viii Influence
Literature has become the most important factor in the construction of the English monarchy. It
has become the way in which people communicate and share their ideas throughout the world.
English literature is the essential piece in ruling a country and determining the future for that
country. In England, English literature has evolved through a number of versions due to the
changes made to the policies and laws, religion, culture, and the monarchy. Henry VIII was born
on June 28, 1491 by Elizabeth of York and Henry VII at Greenwich Palace (BBC News). In his
early age, he was very interested in the arts and enjoyed reading literature. In 1509, Henry VIII
succeeded his father Henry VII (1457 1509), but had originally become heir to the throne after his
older brother, Prince Arthur, died in 1502 (Henry VIII (r.1509 1547)). He reigned during the
House of Tudor monarchy when he was only eighteen years old until he died in 1547, having
Edward VI succeed him. Throughout his years of reign, he married six women including: Catherine
of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. In
1527, Henry divorced Catherine of Aragon, since she could no longer conceive children, and
became infatuated with Anne Boleyn (Henry s Divorce). This decision led to the English Protestant
Reformation which were a series of events...[in] which the Church of England broke away from the
authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church (English Reformation).

Mammogram Vs Women
Why is it that the regulations on receiving a mammogram are always changing? I believe it has to
do with the different generations of women. Society s views are always adapting with new facts
and inventions. Upcoming generations are becoming more informed with the evolution of
technology. This knowledge plays a significant role in how we manage our lives. One important
aspect of our life is our health. Today, people are proactive about staying healthy and learning
about their body. Since technology is now a major factor in our lifestyle; people who grew up in
this era are more familiar with it. This group of people are called Generation X and Generation Y.
The time span for this generation are people born between 1965 and 1986. Generation X and
Generation Y have a different mind set than the generation before them (Andolina LillГ©, 2011).
The Baby Boomers are a generation that grew up in a time before technology started to expand.

Generation X and Generation Y are more likely to research their physician, disorder, and
medication. In earlier time, it used to be that what the doctor said was correct, and you had to do
what they said. With having the internet and being able to communicate all over the world,
people now question if their doctor has the best plan. Generation X and Generation Y are most
known for this type of action. They are comfortable working with technology and finding a
possible better solution to their health. A portion of Baby Boomers are still prone to take their
doctor s advice to heart. They still hold onto the idea that what the doctor says is best. However,
the majority of Baby Boomers have some similarities of Generation X and Generation Y because
unlike their parents, they are proactive. If something is wrong, you fix it before it becomes a
serious problem. This new change in mind set lead to mammography becoming as important as it is

The North American market is very price sensitive, and some components, like OE and spares
which are in the mature period of their life circle, the traditional cost system seems to be a method
for them in this company. Thus, in the situation that price is almost the most important order
winning criterion. Traditional cost system is judged in that it is suitable to manufacture the
required product at minimum cost and efficiency.
However, as a new member with a new product, electronic product in North American market, the
reputation is also an important attribute. Especially, quick delivery time is a key attribute for this
company, due to the demand of quick delivery in all markets. Moreover, the manufacturing process
of the new product, electronic product, on which our company will definitely focus, has a lot
demands. Such as, technology, innovation and quick delivery time even the ability to make the
product be the first one appearing in the market (other company, which is developing the same
product, may become our competitive opponents). Especially, technology is predicted to play the
most important role in the manufacturing process. On the other hand, the traditional cost system
has a lot of limitations. Traditional costing system focuses on the cost reduction and the efficiency,
particular the products with relatively few standardized components; Clifton, however, produces a
wide range of airplane components. In addition, nonfinancial aspects of

What Are The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Coca Cola
Coca Cola is an extremely recognizable company. Popularity is one of its superior strengths that
is virtually incomparable. Coca Cola is known very well worldwide. It s branding is obvious and
easily recognized. Things like, logos and promos shown on t shirts, hats, and collectible
memorabilia. Without a doubt, no beverage company compares to Coca Colas social popularity
status. Some people buy coke, not only because of its taste, but because it is widely accepted and
they feel like they are part of something so big and unifying. At the other end of the spectrum,
certain individuals choose not to drinkcoke, based solely on rebelling from the world s idea that
coke is something of such great power. Overwhelming is the best word to describe... Show more

However they do have a variety of weaknesses that need to be addressed if they want to rise to
the next level. Word of mouth is probably a strength and weakness of every company. While
many people have good things to say, there are many individuals who are against Coca Cola as a
company, and the products in which they produce. Word of mouth unfortunately is something
that is very hard to control. While people will have their opinions, you have to try to sway their
negative views. If bad comments and views are put out to people who have yet to try Coca Cola
products, then that could produce a lost customer which shows why word of mouth is a
weakness. Another aspect that could be viewed as a weakness is the lack of popularity of many
of Coca Cola s drinks. Many drinks that they produce are extremely popular such as Coke and
Sprite but this company has approximately 400 different drink types. Most are unknown and
rarely seen for available purchase. These drinks do not probably taste bad, but are rather a result
of low profile or non existent advertising. This is a weakness that needs to be looked at when
analyzing their company. Another weakness that has been greatly publicized is the health issues
that surround some of their products. It is known that a popular product like coke is not very
beneficial to your body and your health. With today s constant shift to health products, some
products could possibly loose

Mexican Immigration Essay
Mexican immigration in the early 1900 s was a huge issue that impacted the United
States in areas such as urban population, employment and many other ways. The mass number of
Mexican immigrant s that migrated to the United States from Mexico was at nearly half million
in between the years of 1920 and 1929. Mexicans left their native land and moved to the United
States not only to achieve financial prosperity, but to get out of the chaotic environment that
Mexico was in at the time due to the Mexican revolution which began in 1910. Many Mexicans
that were seeking work found jobs in farming, mining, and railroad construction work this help

part this was the objective goal of the Protestant denominations, the Catholic Church and the
corporate world which wanted Americanized workers.
The year 1910 marked the start of the Mexican Revolution which pushed many Mexican
citizens north of the border into the United States. Not only were they pushed to America by the
Mexican Revolution but they were also lured here by the numerous employment opportunities
such as farming, railroad work, and mining that s could be found in Midwest states
such as Chicago, Colorado and Iowa. In a report that Reverend Robert N. Mclean did on Colorado
Mexicans in 1924, he stated evidence that showed at the time 35 percent of the
population in Las Animas County, Colorado was Mexican which amounts to 17,000 or 18,000
people. The majority of these Mexicans worked in the mining camps.
Another example of this is found in a report that was done in 1928 by Anita Edgar Jones
in which she surveyed Mexican Life in Chicago. She stated that The Mexicans in Chicago
live for the most part either in railroad camps or in well defined colonies.... The most important
colonies are those which may be described as the Hull House colony, the University of Chicago
Settlement colony, the South Chicago Colony.... ( Anita Edgar Jones

The Loose Cinematic Retelling Of The Novel Mildred...
The loose cinematic retelling of the novel Mildred Pierce into a more marketable noir murder
mystery greatly changes aspects of the story s literary point of view : how the story is portrayed or
narrated. The film employs a third person point of view giving us extremely limited access to the
thoughts of the characters. In the novelJames Cain utilizes a third person limited perspective,
allowing the reader to know Mildred s thoughts and emotions. As a result the meaning of the story
greatly varies between the two. While Mildred s actions in the two versions of the story are, for the
most part, similar, access to her thoughts change their meaning. Without knowing her thoughts and
emotions, Mildred s devotion to Veda in the film appears... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both stories Mildred gives everything she has for Veda. She devotes all her energy searching
for a job to support Veda s expensive lifestyle. Here the difference in perspective between the two
versions greatly changes the significance of her actions. In the film she is rejected from every
job until accepting the chance to be a waitress without hesitation. In the novel Mildred is
presented with multiple job opportunities. Despite these openings Mildred rejects them and is
repulsed by the idea of menial labor. The reason being is because she is terrified by how Veda
will look down on her for doing such work. It isn t until she realizes the graveness of her
situation that she resigns herself and accepts the job as a waitress. Access to Mildred s internal
conflict in the novel during her search greatly changes the meaning of her actions. Her
willingness to be a waiter in film characterizes her as a mother willing to do anything for her
daughter s wellbeing. Mildred rejecting similar positions and shamefully accepting the job in the
book characterizes her as more concerned with what her daughter will think of her than actually
taking care of her. When Veda discovers Mildred s job as a waitress she mocks her. Both
versions of the story have Mildred striking Veda to punish her and breaking down into tears after
doing so. The film portrays her crying because she is saddened by causing harm to her

Full Inclusion In Early Childhood Education
In early childhood, many five to eight year olds, are included in general education classes for at
least part of the day. School districts implement full inclusion. I could not stress the enough.
When I was younger in elementary school I had an IEP. Having an IEP already made me feel
like an outcast and having to go to a separate room made that feeling even worse. I understand in
some severe cases children have to be separated. In my case I just need the teacher to go a little
slower and explain the concept a few times. The schoolshould have had teachers equip to handle
this situation. I did not need a separate room to learn the information I just need a little help, which
the teacher could have easily applied.

Essay on War on Drugs
The so called War on Drugs, as declared by the Nixon administration in the signing of the
Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, marked the beginning of the
current era of mandatory minimum sentencing, racism, privatized prisons, and a powerful
constituency that profits as a result of the prohibitionof drugs. Psychoactive substances have been
apart of the human experience as long as humans have walked the earth. There is little hope that
drugproduction will ever be curtailed, so long as there is a demand; a demand that has remained
steady even though it has been forty years since the beginning of said war. As Judge James P.
Gray from the Superior Court of Orange County has so plainly put it: Where did this policy... Show

One thing that must be made obvious is that the government makes money regardless of the
results that they produce. A good majority of the criminal justice system is paid with this
budgeted drug money. There has been a historical increase in judges, lawyers, police officers and
the creation of entire government organizations that directly make money as a result of the
prohibition. It is not only law enforcement side that would like to see prohibition remain intact; it
is also the drug dealers that would like the policies to remain as they are. (Harvey) Prohibition
causes the handling of drugs to become a risky business and, therefore, drives the prices up
astronomically allowing for a business that has a profit in the thousands of percent with no tax.
Ricky Ross, the most infamous crack cocaine dealer in Los Angeles, while being interviewed in
jail told the interviewer, I became addicted to the money and also the power too I believe (Booth).
These people will have the opportunity to make extraordinary amounts of money so long as current
prohibition stays intact. There is clearly something wrong if both the government and drug dealers
would both like to see prohibition perpetuated.
In some cases, it so happens that the government is working both sides of the law. It has been
alleged that the CIA, with its support of the Contra resistance group in Nicaragua, has actively
participated in the importation of cocaine while being protected from prosecution as a

How Did Conscription Change Canadian Identity
Firstly, the Conscription Crisis of 1942 provoked conflict between the French and English
Canadians, but also changed Canadian identity positively during the 1940s. Ever since World War
ll began and Canada joined the war the French Canadians highly opposed to the idea of
conscription; [...]English Canadians, who were mostly in favour of conscription, and French
Canadians, who were strongly opposed. To begin with, the prime minister of Canadaat the time,
Mackenzie King had acknowledged the great disagreement the French Canadians had against
conscription and made a promise to the nation: King s government [...] had promised the nation, and
particularly Quebec, that it would not send any conscripts to serve overseas. The last thing that
King wanted to do was to impose conscription especially when Quebec strongly believed in anti

King was thrust between two forces, the French Canadians and the English Canadians and two

ignoring the call for conscription, but enforcing it right away would alienate Quebec completely.
So King performed one of his classic political sidesteps by declaring, Not necessarily conscription

The Zebra Mussels
ZEBRA MUSSELS DREISSENA POLYMORPHA
Zebra Mussels are small fingerlike size about two inches in length. They have a hard white shell
with black strips. So that s where they get their name. The Zebra Mussels originated from the
Caspian Sea region of Asia. They are fresh water mussel species capable to attaching to hard
surfaces. The Zeba Mussels can tolerate a wide range of environment conditions. Adults can live
out of the water for about seven days.
In 1988 it was discovered that the Zebra Mussels were discharged into Lake St Clair near Detroit,
Michigan. Lake St Clair connects to Lake Huron and Lake Erie. By the next year the Zebra
Mussels traveled from these fresh water lakes into the Illinois and the Hudson Rivers.

Personality Traits Of A Personality Trait Essay
NZ Personality Trait Research Gender differences in personality traits
A lot of research has been done regarding gender differences in personality traits; which have
given observable differences in previous research done on different levels of traits. This study
addresses the gender differences in the levels of neuroticism and agreeableness in New Zealand.
Results show that there are significant differences between the levels of neuroticism and
agreeableness in males and females with women having higher levels in both traits.
Introduction(600 900)
Are women and men largely different in terms of personality traits? Agreeableness and Neuroticism
are two conflicting traits Do they differ in terms of gender? This research will address if there is a
significant difference in the levels of personality traits between males and females. NZMA
collected data on New Zealand participants responds to questionnaire based on personality trait
(Sibley, 2014). This research will look at how the data shows gender differences on whether men
have higher levels of one trait than the other or do females have a lower level of one trait that the
men are higher in. Previous work has been done on looking at the different five traits on the
Hexagon model and relating it to the gender differences. Studies similar to this have been many
times replicated with the traits agreeableness and neuroticism. A more recent study similar to our

The Transportation Revolution began in the early 1800 s as an effort to dramatically improve
transportation in America. The Transportation Revolution included greatly improved roads, the
development of canals, and the invention of the steamboat and railroad. In 1800, there were only
23 cities with over 100,000 citizens by 1900 there were 135 cities with over 100,000 citizens.
There were several types of cities: cities that focused on the textile industry, cities that produced

The road initially was a free road but soon became a toll road. Although these roads helped,
shipping freight across them was expensive.
Next introduced were steamboats. Shipping by steamboats was cheaper and faster. If one used a
wagon, there was the cost of lifting the cargo off the ground and keeping it there as well as the
cost of moving the vehicle forward. A water vessel had the advantage of only having the cost of
moving forward because the water lifted the cargo. The shallow draft steamboat, however, could
carry large amounts of cargo even against the flow of a river. Robert Fulton s Clermont proved
the practicality of steamboats in 1807. The Enterprise was introduced by Henry Shreve in 1814
and proved to be the answer to transportation across shallow western waters. By 1820, there were
60 steamboats on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and countless others elsewhere.
Steamboats could ply the waters of lakes and rivers but could not go where there was no
waterway so people built canals. The first successful canal was The Erie Canal in New York
stretching from the Hudson River at Albany, New York westward to Buffalo, New York. The canal
on Lake Erie stretched 364 miles and operated twenty four hours a day seven days a week,
opening the old Northwest and connecting it to New York Harbor. Its production started in 1817;
it turned a profit long before it was finished in 1825. It sparked a canal boom as others tried to

Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep Analysis
Philip K. Dick s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? provides a deep, insightful
commentary on the real meaning of humanity through the refreshing context of a disconcerting
depiction of the future. By utilizing the internal conflict of android bounty hunter Rick Deckard, the
novel is able to bring into question the very way humans define humanity, suggesting that society s
moral principles apply even to non living beings. Primarily, Deckard s changing thoughts
concerning the humanity of the androids he sought to kill portray to the reader that the sanctity of
life is not limited to biological creatures alone. In the novel s beginning, Deckard had little reason
to question the morality of his job of retiring androids. Through the

because it picks up on her ideal of women empowered to cheat on doting, trusting, forgiving
husbands.

It s trebly clever, actually, because the last line can be read both as sexual solicitations to the
women in his flock, as well as an insult to the three priests present on the pilgrimage.
His next con is even more wickedly clever; he demonstrates how he subtly manipulates
his flock into coming forward and making offerings to his relics in order to avoid suspicion that
they have committed some horrible sin.

Hills Like White Elephants, a Theme Analysis Essay
Ernest Hemmingway uses time, place, and symbolism in Hills like White Elephants to intensify
the central dilemma in a story about a man and a woman deciding on whether to go through with
an abortion. Although a literal reading of the title may not seem to have any relation to the story,
the title is rich in implications. Critics suggest that Hills refers to the shape of a woman s stomach
when pregnant, and Webster s 21st Century Dictionary defines white elephant as: [An] awkward,
useless possession. The term is also defined in Webster s as an item that is worthless to some but
priceless to others. According to Victor Lindsey, the child in the story is a white elephant in the
view of the man, who is trying to convince the girl to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The train depot is surrounded on both sides by fields: one side with trees and fields of grain, and
the other contains nothing but dust (Hemingway 324). The two sides of the train tracks represent
the choice Jig will have to face between pregnancy and abortion.
Every time the man or the woman try to change the subject and avoid talking about the abortion,
they end up saying something that refers to or alludes to the baby or the abortion. The woman
suggests that the hills look like white elephants (324), which the man fails to acknowledge. The
lack of clear communication between the two causes tension and arguments at every turn. When
the woman agrees sarcastically that the man has never seen white elephants, he says, Just because
you say I wouldn t have doesn t prove anything (324). The woman is clearly annoyed at the
insensitivity of the man s negative feelings toward her pregnancy. For her, the baby is a priceless
treasure, but for him it is a worthless fetus.
Time and place are very significant in the story. The author describes where the train is boarded
and where it is headed to, but he never tells the reader where the man and woman are at the
moment. Hemingway notes that the train stopped at this junction for two minutes and went on to
Madrid (324). Baker argues that this limited time symbolizes the time she has to have the abortion
(Baker, 145). Baker further

Client Violence Case Study
The podcast with Dr. Christina Newhill defines client violence and stresses the concern social
workers should have in working with their clients. Newhill acknowledges the risk social workers
face in working with potentially violent clients and identifies ways in deescalating and assessing
violent clients. One aspect I found surprising of the podcast was how informative it was on client
violenceand the recognition of the potential violence social workers face within the field. Having
previously worked inpatient on a psychiatric unit I am fully aware of the risk social workers and
clinical staff face in regards to potentially violent clients. I believe more awareness of potential

Political Corruption And Political Scandals
Corruption has always been present, not just in the government, but in other institutions too.
Although corruption has always existed, it has not been prevalent nearly as much in the past as it
is today. Political corruption is when people at the highest levels of the political system misuse
their power in order to make private gains. Political leaders are figures that are supposed to be
looked up to and are supposed to make moral and rational decisions, not like the kind of decisions
that are increasingly being made today. Considering that most of these political leaders work for the
government, and the government is what this country ultimately depends on, this makes for a
terrible situation. A slight bit of corruption is inevitable, but it does not have to be as extreme as it
is today. The Watergate scandal, the Lewinsky affair, and the corrupt bargain are political scandals
that have played a huge role in defining political corruption in America, and they have had an
enormous impact on trust, people, and elections. Political corruption has undermined the American
public s trust in government and politics. A recent Gallup analysis asked Americans of the
confidence level that they have in their nation s governmental institutions (Gingrich 1). According
to the results, a stifling thirty percent was very confident in the Supreme Court, twenty nine percent
felt positively about the Executive Office, and only seven percent felt assurance in Congress
(Gingrich 1). Another

The Parliamentary Power Of Finland
Finland is a parliamentary democracy with a multiparty political system. It has a mixed
presidential and parliamentary system with executive powers divided between the president and
the prime minister. The president is the head of state and the commander in chief of the Defense
Forces who oversees national security and foreign affairs. The president is elected for a term of
six years and may hold up to two consecutive terms maximum. The president s power has been
slightly reduced since the constitutional change in 2000 giving the prime minister, who is
appointed by the president, a little more power. Although its power has weakened, it still plays an
important part in political affairs. The legislative power of Finlandis allocated to the Finnish
Parliament. It consists of 200 members that are elected every 4 years. The Parliament has three
main function; it passes laws, it approves the national budget, and it oversees the government. The
executive power is exercised by the Council of State, which is led by the prime minister. The
Council of State is the government and it has 12 ministries that are responsible for their own
department of the government such as the Ministry of Finance, Justice, etc.
Finland s economy is highly industrialized and very dependent on its exports, primarily on high
tech manufactured goods and its forestry industry. It s so dependent that exported goods make up
nearly a third of Finland s GDP. It s three main importing and exporting partners are

Flower Morphology And Honey Bees
Flower Morphology. Flowers in blueberry are characterized by their bell shaped corollas, with
stamens and anthers inside and a stigma sometimes protruding past the flower aperture (Eck and
Mainland, 1971) (Figure 1). Blueberry flowers have elongated corolla tubes and poricidal anthers,
which tends to make pollination by honey bees difficult (Ritzinger and Lyrene, 1999). Variation in
flowersize and morphology between cultivars has been shown to impact insect foraging activity
and, as a result, fruit set (Courcelles et al., 2013). Corolla length and aperture diameter appear to be
some of the most important floral traits for pollen and nectar accessibility to honey bees, which
impacts pollination and fertilization. As shown by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is well established that fertilization and yields are significantly increased when
flowers are cross pollinated (Ehlenfeldt, 2001; Krebs and Hancock, 1990; Vander Kloet, 1984;
Vander Kloet and Lyrene, 1987; Wood, 1968). Yields are also generally increased through cross
pollination with the aid of insect pollinators (Ehlenfeldt, 2001; Krebs and Hancock, 1990).
Generally, fewer tetrads of outcrossed pollen are required to reach pollen load saturation than
with self pollination (Parrie and Lang, 1992). However, pollen tubes from self pollinated plants
grow at the same rate as outcrossed pollen once germination occurs (Krebs and Hancock, 1988;
Vander Kloet and Lyrene, 1987). Only a fraction of ovules develop into seeds, with over 100
ovules being common to highbush blueberry fruit and fewer than 50 seeds forming (Pritts et al.,
1992). Seed number is positively correlated to fruit size (until saturation occurs) and seed abortion
is dependent on the level of self fertility (Pritts et al., 1992; Vestrheim et al., 1996).
Pollination in highbush blueberry. In blueberry production, commercially managed honey bees,
specifically the Italian honey bee (Apis mellifera ligustica ; commonly referred to as honey bee )
are primarily responsible for pollination. Wet and cool spring weather limits honey bee activity and
subsequently can negatively affect pollination and fruit set. The Northeastern region of the United
States, including Michigan, is

book says that mental intelligence will get you into a management position but it stops being
helpful after entry into that position. A leader needs to have good emotional intelligence to
continue to lead. Self awareness has to do with my purpose and I am working towards finding
that in this class. I know that I worry about how other people perceive me but I do not think that
is the same thing as recognizing it, which is social awareness. I think that I will have to spend
some time mastering the first two elements of emotional intelligence before I can work on self
regulation. I do not know how I can stick to a path and make corrections to get back to it, until I
have established a clear path. There were some interesting comments made about behaviors that
help us get closer to our purpose. A reflective practice of checking in twice a day was brought up.
I thought about how I might do this and I know that I would struggle with this significantly. I
worry about how honest I would be with myself, so I would have to check in with my wife or a

Mount Everest Pros And Cons
Nepal has eight of the 14 highest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest
Nepalese authorities say that the number of visitors to Sagarmatha National Park, where Everest
lies, has roughly tripled in the past 20 years. With the increasing number of tourists comes a
growing amount of rubbish left behind on mountains: food wrappers, climbing gear, oxygen
cylinders, and even the bodies of climbers who died along the way. The frigid temperatures mean
trash does not biodegrade.
Over the past six decades, an estimated 50 tons of trash has been left on Mount Everest, giving it the
nickname the world s highest garbage dump. Mountaineering associations have complained about
the growing number of inexperienced climbers leaving their garbage behind in an attempt to save
the energy they need to reach the summit or return to base camp alive.
Famous climbers such as Reinhold Messner have said Mount Everest has been trivialized, calling
for Nepal to close off access to the mountain for a handful of years to allow it to recover.
New clean up rules
Now Nepal s tourism ministry has acted, deciding that from this April forward, every climber
going beyond the base camp will be required to bring back at least eight kilograms (17.6 pounds)
of their personal waste and hand it over to officials stationed there. That s the amount the
government estimates an exhausted climber discards along the way. The aim is to make sure that
no new trash will be left on Everest.

Termite Color
During the lab of testing whether the color of a pen will affect the movement of a termite, it was
discovered that termites are more likely to follow a black and purple pen, rather than a red,
blue, or green pen. It was hypothesized that if a blue, red, black , purple, and green pen were
used, then the termite would follow the black pen because of it s comparable scent of that of
pheromones. This was proven correct based on the data and graph. Also the purple pen had
pheromones in it s scent like the black pen, concluding that only black and purple pens contain
pheromones. But, the purple pen resulted in a much slower travel time from the termite.
Approximately 15.83 average seconds were trimmed off from the black and purple pen. These
results can be due to the black and purples containing properties that the red, blue, and green pens
do not. According to ChemistryWorld, pens contain pigments...pH modifiers, humectants to retard
premature drying, polymeric resins, wetting agents such as surfactants to control surface properties,
biocides to inhibit the fungal and bacterial growth that lead to fouling, and thickeners or rheology...

It wasn t valid due to the improper lighting conditions in the room, the pen ink drying out, and
sometimes the misstart of the stopwatch. The lighting is problematic because it irritates the
termites, making them uncomfortable, and potentially causing them not pick up the scent of the
pheromones and follow the lines. Over time the pen ink drys up causing the pheromone smell to
fade away, making it hard for the termite to pick up the pheromones and traveling slower or less.
Lastly, the stopwatch not being completely accurate can account for missing 2 seconds for the data,
table, and graph. In conclusion, black and purple pens contain the scent pheromones, that attract
termites, allowing them to follow the trail due to their

War I has been particularly exclusive in history in comparison to previous battles, by reason of the
first major involvement of the world s major powers in warfare in addition to the war s foundation
of causes that eventually led to the unavoidable commencement of bloodshed. The First World War

These nationalistic feelings allowed European citizens to grow extreme morale in their nation, in
addition their country s individual strength in military and government. With the birth of these
sentiments, however; neighbouring countries that made up the continent were denounced and
portrayed to the public as untrustworthy, uncivilized, and threatening in regards to their country.
Due to this, many rivalries and tensions between borders occurred, with the inclusion of the public
in addition to their powerful leaders. Nationalistic pride was launched in European countries for
multiple different reasons, depending on the state of the country at the time. For example, Great
Britain s views regarding nationalism was apparent in relation to the country s past of maintaining
strength and prosperity through peaceful relations, while nationalism was clear in Germany as a
symbol of future imperialism and overwhelming continental strength. Either way, strong feelings of
nationalism allowed Europe s borders to become even more divided than usual, as a result of
providing an outlet for national superiority and the encouraging antagonization of surroundings
nations. In short, nationalism allowed the First World War to become even more unavoidable,
since tensions rose to the brink of both fear and confidence of the major powers: a perfect setup

The Evolution Of Species Extinction
Globally, most of the species (both flora and fauna) are under serious threat from direct and indirect
human activities; while the direct activities such as deforestation leads to species habitat
fragmentation and loss, on the other hand modifies climatic conditions coupled with gas emissions.
The synergistic impact of these human driven activities questions the survivability of organisms in
the morphed climatic environments. At one level fragmented habitats increase intra and inter
species competitions, resulting in decline of population of species, grouping them under rare and
threatened category. At other level, the amplified global temperatures in parallel with low
precipitation rates, not only creates unsuitable external habitat conditions but also impose internal
changes in biological clock and physiological processes of the organisms, in additions to their life
history traits (Reynold et al. 2003, Price and Gittleman, 2007). This kind of changed scenario both
externally and internally, brings incompatibility in the organism to cope with fluctuating climatic
conditions, finally making the species as vulnerable and forcing into the process of extinction.
The process of species extinction accelerated with rapid human activities and in the current
scenario, many species are in the queue of extinction. We are losing our uncounted valuable
biodiversity, in a sense, we still don t have exact idea of how many species are surviving globally,
and we are losing them before we

Myth Of The Jezebel Myth
During the early 1500s and throughout the early 1900s, slavery was committed by white men,
against African Americans in order to maintain white supremacy. Slavery consisted of farming,
working hard labor, and turning African Americans into servant by their white owners. Enslaved
African Americans would not receive any form of money for hard labor because black men and
women were thought of as property. Black enslaved and freed men and women were also raped by
both white men and women, because white peoplebelieved that black peoplewere hypersexual.
Many white men believed that it was impossible to rape a black woman because the belief was
that black women were inherently rapeable (Block 141).
One of the myths that reflected the belief that black women were inherently rapeable was the
Jezebel myth. When white men first visited Africa, they noticed that black women wore little to
no clothes because of the hot African heat, therefore created the believe that all black women
were sexually submissive (29). Deborah White states that white men believed that... [black
women] invited sexual overtures from white men, and that any resistance they displayed was
mere feigning. (30). This is how the Jezebel myth came into play. Jezebel was characterized as
the opposite of the mid nineteenth Victorian lady and were defined as sexual beings (29). By
creating a believe that black enslaved women wanted to be raped by white men not only created a
sense of power to white men but it was

Interpretation and Analysis of Wallace Stevens The Snow Man
The Snow Man by Wallace Stevens is a poem which creates a unique dramatic situation through an
effective imagery, and which compels the reader to employ another way of thinking in order to both
understand the poem and realize its very theme.
The first thing that is noticeable about the poem is that it is actually just one long, complex
sentence. There is no rhyme, and there is no particular meter. Each foot varies: the poem becomes
a combination of iambs ( the frost, and not, the sound, that is ), trochees ( winter, glitter, ), anapests
( to regard, to behold, of the land ), dactyls ( junipers ), and others that are not of those kind ( that is
blowing unstressed, unstressed, stressed, unstressed). Also, each line has ... Show more content on

One particular image contained in these lines is that of the distant glitter (of the January sun). In
this, the poem uses sound of the short i in an assonance to support this idea of something so distant
that it is almost not there. The enjambment and the separation of the phrase of the January sun into
another stanza, also relates this idea of distance.
The second group contains multiple instances of the word sound, as well as the words listener and
listen. And there also is the prevailing sibilant sound of s misery, sound, leaves, same, listener,
listens, and snow which mimics the hissing sound of the wind...that is blowing in the same bare
place. It is clear, therefore, that these lines aim to appeal to the reader s sense of hearing.
What this grouping achieves is the recognition of the process that one goes through in leaving
behind his own mind and assuming another s mind, in this case that of the snow man. He is able
to view the world through different eyes, and thus is able to see the vivid little details of

The Three Components Of Robert Sternberg s Theory Of Love
The triangular theory of love is a theory of loved developed by psychologist Robert Sternberg.
Presented in 1985, Sternberg was a member of the Psychology Department at Yale University.
During his time as a professor, Sternberg emphasized his research in the fields of intelligence,
creativity, wisdom, leadership, thinking styles, ethical reasoning, love, and hate. In the context of
interpersonal relationships, the three components of love, according to the triangular theory, are an
intimacy component, a passion component, and a decision/commitment component. ^(5)
There are three components of love as follows:
Passion: Passion can be associated with either physical arousal or emotional stimulation. Passion is
defined in three ways:
A strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something^
A strong feeling (such as anger) that causes people to act in a dangerous way
strong sexual or romantic feeling for someone
Intimacy: Intimacy is described as the feelings of closeness and attachment to one another. This
tends to strengthen the tight bond that is shared between those two individuals. Additionally,
having a sense of intimacy helps create the feeling of being at ease with one another, in the sense
that the two parties are mutual in their feelings. Intimacy is primarily defined as something of a
personal or private nature; familiarity.^
Commitment: Unlike the other two blocks, commitment involves a conscious decision to stick with
one another.

The Realism Theory Of The War On Afghanistan
There are, however, aspects that disqualify the realism theory in examining the War in Afghanistan.
For example, realism explicitly applies to relations between nations and consequently, war between
countries. This was not the case, since the war did and still does not involve conflict between
America and Afghanistan. Rather the war was between America and the Taliban
government that
supported the infamous terror group, al Qaeda. For this reason, realist theory does not explain this
highly controversial war. Another aspect that contravenes realism as an appropriate theoretical
approach to understanding the War in Afghanistan is that fact that, America toppled the Taliban
government within its first few months of the invasion. Realism cannot, as a result, explain why
American troops and those of allied forces have not yet been pulled out of Afghanistan more than a
decade after war started (Bird and Marshall 37).
Another principal attribute that disqualifies realism in debunking the Afghanistan War is the fact
that America made concerted efforts to gain support from the United Nations (UN) before
commencing the invasion. This contravenes the assertion put forth by the realist theory that, a
nation does not take the international system or organization into consideration when taking
actions directed towards safeguarding its survival. The autonomous action stipulated in realism is
particularly essential when a state is threatened and cannot afford to trust other nations. In

The On People s Daily Lives
Kokusaku kamishibai emphasis more on people s daily lives. They were formerly categorized
as educational kamishibai, but later emphasized more on the promotion of government policies
(Horner, 23). Typical themes of kokusaku kamishibai would be promoting thrift during wartime,
encouraging people to go to the hospital to visit the wounded soldiers, reminding people to keep
healthy so that they could contribute more to the nation, glorifying Japan and its emperor,
stressing the honorable legends of the Japanese nation, and instilling the Bushido, or the way of
the warriors (Horner, 23) For example, kamishibai Bokura no chikai ( Our Promise ) and O
rusuban ( Home Alone ) depict how children should behave when they are left alone by their
parents. Children were encouraged either help with their mothers housework or talking about their
fathers who were at the war in an aspiring tone (Horner, 23). Considering the main viewership of
kamishibai consists of young children, Japanese government employed kokusaku kamishibai to
instruct the young generation how they should behave everyday and remind them of the
characters they had to play in regard of the prosperity of the Great Imperial of Japan. This kind of
kamishibai is very much similar to the moral education, but they ultimately have characteristic of
wartime propaganda because the issues related to the war exist from time to time in the storyline.

Workaholics Essay
INTRODUCTION
Why did I choose to write about workaholics? The main reason is that the general picture about
these people is bad, but there are a lot of them around us and very often we admire them. They are
doing exactly what they love work and they can never have enough of it. Although they spend most
of their time working, surprisingly they are happy. They show so good results in what they do. But
the consequences are great. Family life is disrupted, intellectual horizons narrow and the
consequences to the workaholic s health are severe: fat, lack of exercise and stress. Why do people
become workaholics? When a person becomes workaholic is there a way back? How should

Nobody can tell exactly how but there is a theory that workaholism starts at really early stages of
life. Marilyn Machlowitz says in her book Workaholics supports this theory and says that this
whole process starts when children play games that are connected with real time jobs or they play
games connected with getting money such as selling lemonade or old magazines. She also says
that children of workaholics are about to become ones in their later life development. The addiction
to the child of a workaholic is not passed actively. The workaholics don t tell their children to
work or not to work a lot. The reason is that children often want to be as successful as their
parents. Machlowitz later on in her book also says that some children think if they don t show the
best results in school their parents will not love them and therefore start working more than they
should. But however it is not only the childhood that makes people workaholics. Although it might
be the best period to make person think like a workaholic, the adult phase of life is the most
important. The most common target of workaholism is people that have high responsibility jobs.
Their motivation is fear. Workaholics on high positions just hate to fail and feel inferior to all other
workers that are bellow them. Therefore they are double checking all possibilities that are

Early Modern Europe – Major Forces for Change
Early Modern Europe Major Forces for Change
There are a lot of events that shaped the history of early Europe. Our ancestors had a lot on their
plate when they discovered new lands and fought new diseases. One of the early forces that had a
major impact were the crusades. The Crusades were a bunch of religious wars that were called on
by the Pope and the Catholic Church in order to defend Christianity against the Muslims and get
closer to the holy cities and other places in ancient Palestine. So what exactly does crusade mean?
The word comes from an old French word crois , which means cross (if you haven t guessed it).

Another event that caused a massive change in Europe was The Black Death , a very deadly
epidemic that claimed a massive number of victims. The plague was believed to be brought by
rats from the eastern trade routes. There were 3 ways to get infected. First one was bubonic
which gets its name from the massive swellings that the victim had on their head and arms. The
swellings were usually the size of a small apple. This type was mainly spread the same way as
malaria, via insects. Fleas would usually attach themselves to rats or other infected animals and
then come in contact with humans, and infected immediately, the life expectancy was no more
than one week. The second type was the pneumonic plague, as the word suggests it usually
attacked the lungs first, because it was spread just by breathing the same air as another victim, in
turn it was much more dangerous and life expectancy was no more than 2 days. The third type of
the plague was the septicemic which translates to a disease which attacks the bloodstream.
Suffice to say that no doctor at that time could cure it, either because they were too afraid to even
go near the victims or perhaps they were just ignorant. The reaction to the plague was mixed. One
of the scenarios that happened is best described in the story The Masque of the Red Death by
Edgar Allan Poe. A group of nobles shut themselves in a

succeed and prevail, not falling back on their morals which include Batman s one rule, which he
does not break, which is (Batman) never kill(s). Overall, three situations that show the Joker s
defeat are the ferryboat situation, Batman not killing the Joker, and Harvey Dent becoming Two
Facein which Harvey Dent dies a hero, or lives long enough to see himself become the villain.
One of the Joker s great scenes in which he tries to put Batman to the test is in the many and
countless situations in which the Joker tries to get Batman to kill him. The Joker almost gets
Batman to kill him many times such as in the interrogation room, on the street when Batman is on
the motorcycle, when the Joker is hanging upside down from Batman s hand off of a ledge of a
building, etc. Batman s one rule is that he will not kill anyone, as seen in the rest of the movie. The
only thing that makes the Joker different from

Richard III Foreshadowing Analysis
Shakespeare uses foreshadowing in Richard III, to show the reader the fate of each characters.
For every character we see some type of foreshadowing that predicts their future. We see
foreshadowing in Margaret s curses, Anne s curses, Richard and Richmond s dreams, and the
prophetic dream of Clarence. Shakespeare uses curses as a big part of foreshadowing. He uses
Margaret s and Anne s curses to foreshadow the fate of the main characters. Almost every character
in Richard IIIfalls to the fate of Margaret s curses. In Act 1 of the play Margaret curses King
Edward, Queen Elizabeth, Edward Prince of Wales, Rivers, Dorset, Lord Hastings, and finally
Richard of Gloucester. Margaret curses King Edward with death due to eating too much, Rivers,
Dorset, and Lord Hastings are cursed with death by an unexpected accident, Edward Prince of
Wales is cursed with death, and Queen Elizabeth is cursed with living a miserable life like
Margaret. All of these curses foreshadow the fate of these characters. Margaret concludes her curses
on the York s with Richard saying:
The worm of conscience still begnaw thy soul.
Thy friends suspect for traitors while thou liv st,
And take deep traitors for thy dearest friends.
No sleep close up that deadly eye of thine,
Unless it be while some tormenting dream
Affrights thee with a hell of ugly devils.

The night before Clarence is murdered; he has a dream of Richard pushing him overboard a ship
to his death. Even though, that is not how Clarence is murdered, he is murdered by two men that
were hired by Richard. Also, after they stab him, they place him in a barrel of wine. In his dream
he dreamt that he died by drowning and that is sort of what happened. Shakespeare once again uses
foreshadowing to give readers a clue about what is going to happen to the character,

The Effect Of Gestational Age And Gender On Fetal And...
A study conducted on Wistar rats at two time points in late gestation investigating the impact of
gestational age and gender on fetal and placental weight. This study demonstrated that fetal and
placental weight increased significantly between days 16 and 21 of gestation whereas gender
showed minimal effect on growth.
Introduction
Fetal development during pregnancy is predominantly related to the placenta and its function in fetal
maternal exchange (Ishikawa et al. 2006). Alterations in the interactions between the fetus and
maternal uterine environment thus permit for the modification in fetal growth. In addition, the
placenta also acts as an endocrine organ that produces hormones necessary for the establishment and
maintenance of pregnancy as well as fetal growth and wellbeing (Malassine, Frendo Evain Brion
2003). Literature suggests fetal growth relies on the mobilisation of maternal nutrients, which
involves placental growth hormone and that dysregulation of the hormone may have an adverse
impact on fetal growth (Newbern Freemark 2011). The placenta consists of two distinct regions,
which are the junctional (JZ) and labyrinth (LZ) zones that differ in morphological and functional
terms (Ishikawa et al. 2006). This complexity therefore reflects the placenta as a highly specialised
unit required for the exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between mother and fetus as
alluded to earlier. The interrelationship between the fetus and placenta has been made

Essay On Death Cloud By Andrew Lane
Death Cloud By Andrew Lane The book I read was Death Cloud by Andrew Lane, it is about
when Sherlock Holmes started detective work. Most of us know about the great detective that
Sherlock Holmes was known as, but have you ever wondered how he got that way. This book
gives you the opportunity to find out the past behind the genius detective. I chose this book because
I like Sherlock Holmes.
This book changed my outlook by taking a character I already knew about and cared for. Sherlock
Holmes has been in many movies and shows that I have been a part of while watching. A way of
connecting to a character is to watch what they are a part of and putting yourself in the situations,
and the moment you find out something new your whole thoughts of that character changes.
There are many other books and stories that I would compare to this book, such as Study in Scarlet
, The Sign of the Four , The Adventures of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two of these words are names, one is the name of a person the other is the name of a place. This
story takes place in the 1800 s and at that time people were still scared of another outbreak of a
plague, and with the death of two people back to back with the same symptoms people began to
spread rumors using the words death, plague, and pox often. In the late 1800 s the only form of
transportation besides trains and boats were carriages, so often the carriage is referred to. Both
smoke and cloud were used to describe the mysterious fog Sherlock saw.
To conclude Death Cloud by Andrew Lane is altogether a good book. It has many ways to keep
a reader interested. The book takes a character that already exists and adds more story to them. I
would love to read more of this author because of the fact that this book is a series. This series
could possibly shed more light on how Sherlock Holmes became the detective that we know

The Importance Of A Modified Barium Swallow Study At...
I had the opportunity to observe a Modified Barium Swallow Study at Arkansas Children s
Hospital this semester. It was informative, interesting, and sparked left me researching unfamiliar
terms as I left the study. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this observation experience and I
feel as though it is one of the most, if not the most, beneficial hands on experiences I have had
thus far. The differences between pediatrics and geriatrics have been discussed, taught, and even
viewed through video in class, but there is nothing quite like seeing all of those differences in
person. I would like to start off mentioning that I had pre conceived idea of what my experience
was going to be with a 9 month old. I had prepared myself for crying,... Show more content on

There were various cups set out with different labels on the side. Legally they have to put labels
on everything used by the patient that has their name, D.O.B, and that barium was used. The
SLP poured barium into the cups, which she then flavored with Kool Aid and then barium was
added to applesauce. This allowed the SLP to test various consistencies and see how the patient
tolerated them. Thin, Nectar, and Puree consistencies were observed during the study. The study
requires several disciplines to be presented in the room in order for it to be completed. There was
a radiologist, radiology technician, nurse, an SLP, and the mother of the child. This made for a
tight space during the study itself. Once the room was prepped and all required personnel was
ready the SLP went to get the family.
The steps were explained in detail to the mother and then instructions were given to her on which
way the child should be facing while being fed the samples. I was surprised to learn that the child s
mother was actually the one feeding him the test consistencies and not a trained professional. There
were so things happening in the room all at once. The SLP was trying to watch the monitor for
penetration and aspiration all while trying to help the mother keep the baby s attention. Then the
radiologist says deep penetration and two seconds later silent aspiration . The nurse wrote this
information down on a sheet which specifies exactly when, where, and what consistency was

The firm s profit maximizing output is less than the output associated with minimum average
cost. The firm s demand curve is not flat but is downward sloping. Thus in the long run the
demand curve will be tangential to the long run average cost curve at a point to the left of its
minimum. The result is excess capacity. Also according to Investopedia (2013), These types of
firms are inefficient; it is usually the case that the costs of regulating prices for every product
sold far exceed the benefits of such regulation. However, it would not have to regulate every
product and every firm just the most important ones. A firm could be said to be marginally
inefficient because it produces at an output where average total cost is not a minimum. This type
of market is a productively inefficient market structure because marginal cost is less than price in
the long run. Markets are also inefficient as the price given is higher than marginal cost. The
competitive strategies the analysis recommends are as follows: 1) Continue with plans to
automate inventory and ordering systems, 2) Hire someone with financial background to help

Essay On The Moment Of Happiness In 1988
The year 1988 was filled with a variety mixed emotions. There were moments when people fell
into depression from losing their loved ones, but also moments of happiness because of large
achievements that have been reached. Airplane, train, and helicopter crashes played a major role in
the depressing portion of the year, but the death of many famous people and the tropical storms that
took place in Rio De Janeirowas also included. Some of the happier moments from 1988 were when
Barry Sander s won the Heisman Trophyduring his junior in college, and when scientist found a

Evaluation Of A Good Argument
7.3 Neutralization of the fallacy:
In paragraph 4 the author has violated the sufficiency criterion of a good argument. The author
has violates the sufficiency criteria by committing the fallacy of false analogy. In paragraph 4
the author states, In the mid 1940s before publicly funded healthcare my grand parents sold their
car to pay the hospital bill related to my father s birth, so purchasing the birth of a child is
nothing new. This is a wrong analogy. Just because you pay for hospital bill and cloning, does not
make them the same. In one situation, two persons life is preserved, and in the other a person s
life is changed. The author could have avoided this fallacy by not comparing these two totally
different situations at all or giving an analogy that has the same situation as human cloning.
7.4 Positive Critique:
In the fifth paragraph the author argues that the paternal and maternal linages are not the most
important thing as what we identify ourselves with us humans, which is quite convincing. As his
first premise he states, Most people I know do identify with both their maternal and paternal
lineages. As his second premise he states, Dual heritage may be normal, but it is seems central to
our conception of ourselves as humans. And as third premise he sates, And identical twins seems
none worse for the knowledge that they are not genetically unique individuals. Even though that
was said that this argument is convincing, it is not without

What Are The Similarities Between Soccer And Soccer
Hockey and soccer are two vastly different sports, both requiring different skillsets and being
played very differently. Both games do not only vary athleticism needed to properly play them,
but also in how the game is generally played, and how easy each game is to pick up and play. First
of all, both soccer and hockey require very different athletic skillsets in order to be played at a
professional level. To start off, hockey and soccer both have different objects they are trying to
handle, hockey is a puck that you try to control with a stick, and soccer has a ball and uses the player
s feet. In soccer you mainly use your feet to control the object, and since people naturally already
use their feet in everyday life as opposed to hockey sticks,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hockey players, as compared to soccer players, need to keep track and control a much smaller
object that moves at significantly greater speeds, requiring them to be extremely well
coordinated. However, soccer players need to control something bigger than their own heads
that moves a lot slower than a hockey puck. Speaking of speed, hockey goalies need insanely fast
reflex times in order to actually save a shot. Some may argue that goalies in hockey may take up
to 50% of the goal compared to the less than 10% which is taken by soccer ones, but that doesn t
mean it s easy to save a goal. The puck still moves at up to 175 km/h and the goalkeeper s view is
usually blocked by multiple people standing in front of him. Finally, since hockey players tend to
move a lot faster around the rink than soccer players do on the field, they need to make much
quicker decisions on what plays to make since they ll reach the opposing team s goal faster and
have the constant threat of being knocked down. My final point is how easy each game is to pick up
and play, and for this one, soccer wins. Soccer is much easier to simply pick up and start a game
with your friends since it requires much less practice to be able to do okay in and needs much less
equipment. Two pairs of shoes for goals, and a soccer ball and you re

What Is The Forced Nature Of Assimilation
In her short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri depicts various scenarios of
Indian immigrants moving to and living in the United States. A particularly salient theme discussed
throughout is the issue of assimilation vs. integration. Though the terms are often considered
interchangeable, in this book assimilation argues for adoption of American culture. Conversely,
integration advocates for the coexistence of foreign and American customs and allows immigrants
to establish a sense of home away from their original countries. The story entitled, The Third and
Final Continent specifically recounts a young Indian man s experience trying to establish himself in
Cambridge, Massachusetts after living in London. Prior to his immigration, the narrator had his
marriage arranged by his family in Calcutta, and much of the story illustrates the narrator s
apprehension for his wife, Mala s arrival from India. Recognizing that food is a significant aspect of
most cultures, Lahiri uses it as a motif to indicate the transformation of the narrator s cultural status
in the United States. Through food, she ultimately asserts the possibility of positive integration,
rather than just assimilation, into American society.
Lahiri demonstrates the forced nature of assimilation through the narrator s relationship with
American food. When the narrator first arrives in Cambridge and checks in at the YMCA, he
notices a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Henry Viii Influence Literature has become the most important factor in the construction of the English monarchy. It has become the way in which people communicate and share their ideas throughout the world. English literature is the essential piece in ruling a country and determining the future for that country. In England, English literature has evolved through a number of versions due to the changes made to the policies and laws, religion, culture, and the monarchy. Henry VIII was born on June 28, 1491 by Elizabeth of York and Henry VII at Greenwich Palace (BBC News). In his early age, he was very interested in the arts and enjoyed reading literature. In 1509, Henry VIII succeeded his father Henry VII (1457 1509), but had originally become heir to the throne after his older brother, Prince Arthur, died in 1502 (Henry VIII (r.1509 1547)). He reigned during the House of Tudor monarchy when he was only eighteen years old until he died in 1547, having Edward VI succeed him. Throughout his years of reign, he married six women including: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. In 1527, Henry divorced Catherine of Aragon, since she could no longer conceive children, and became infatuated with Anne Boleyn (Henry s Divorce). This decision led to the English Protestant Reformation which were a series of events...[in] which the Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church (English Reformation). ... • 3. Mammogram Vs Women Why is it that the regulations on receiving a mammogram are always changing? I believe it has to do with the different generations of women. Society s views are always adapting with new facts and inventions. Upcoming generations are becoming more informed with the evolution of technology. This knowledge plays a significant role in how we manage our lives. One important aspect of our life is our health. Today, people are proactive about staying healthy and learning about their body. Since technology is now a major factor in our lifestyle; people who grew up in this era are more familiar with it. This group of people are called Generation X and Generation Y. The time span for this generation are people born between 1965 and 1986. Generation X and Generation Y have a different mind set than the generation before them (Andolina LillГ©, 2011). The Baby Boomers are a generation that grew up in a time before technology started to expand. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generation X and Generation Y are more likely to research their physician, disorder, and medication. In earlier time, it used to be that what the doctor said was correct, and you had to do what they said. With having the internet and being able to communicate all over the world, people now question if their doctor has the best plan. Generation X and Generation Y are most known for this type of action. They are comfortable working with technology and finding a possible better solution to their health. A portion of Baby Boomers are still prone to take their doctor s advice to heart. They still hold onto the idea that what the doctor says is best. However, the majority of Baby Boomers have some similarities of Generation X and Generation Y because unlike their parents, they are proactive. If something is wrong, you fix it before it becomes a serious problem. This new change in mind set lead to mammography becoming as important as it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The North American market is very price sensitive, and some components, like OE and spares which are in the mature period of their life circle, the traditional cost system seems to be a method for them in this company. Thus, in the situation that price is almost the most important order winning criterion. Traditional cost system is judged in that it is suitable to manufacture the required product at minimum cost and efficiency. However, as a new member with a new product, electronic product in North American market, the reputation is also an important attribute. Especially, quick delivery time is a key attribute for this company, due to the demand of quick delivery in all markets. Moreover, the manufacturing process of the new product, electronic product, on which our company will definitely focus, has a lot demands. Such as, technology, innovation and quick delivery time even the ability to make the product be the first one appearing in the market (other company, which is developing the same product, may become our competitive opponents). Especially, technology is predicted to play the most important role in the manufacturing process. On the other hand, the traditional cost system has a lot of limitations. Traditional costing system focuses on the cost reduction and the efficiency, particular the products with relatively few standardized components; Clifton, however, produces a wide range of airplane components. In addition, nonfinancial aspects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Are The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Coca Cola Coca Cola is an extremely recognizable company. Popularity is one of its superior strengths that is virtually incomparable. Coca Cola is known very well worldwide. It s branding is obvious and easily recognized. Things like, logos and promos shown on t shirts, hats, and collectible memorabilia. Without a doubt, no beverage company compares to Coca Colas social popularity status. Some people buy coke, not only because of its taste, but because it is widely accepted and they feel like they are part of something so big and unifying. At the other end of the spectrum, certain individuals choose not to drinkcoke, based solely on rebelling from the world s idea that coke is something of such great power. Overwhelming is the best word to describe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However they do have a variety of weaknesses that need to be addressed if they want to rise to the next level. Word of mouth is probably a strength and weakness of every company. While many people have good things to say, there are many individuals who are against Coca Cola as a company, and the products in which they produce. Word of mouth unfortunately is something that is very hard to control. While people will have their opinions, you have to try to sway their negative views. If bad comments and views are put out to people who have yet to try Coca Cola products, then that could produce a lost customer which shows why word of mouth is a weakness. Another aspect that could be viewed as a weakness is the lack of popularity of many of Coca Cola s drinks. Many drinks that they produce are extremely popular such as Coke and Sprite but this company has approximately 400 different drink types. Most are unknown and rarely seen for available purchase. These drinks do not probably taste bad, but are rather a result of low profile or non existent advertising. This is a weakness that needs to be looked at when analyzing their company. Another weakness that has been greatly publicized is the health issues that surround some of their products. It is known that a popular product like coke is not very beneficial to your body and your health. With today s constant shift to health products, some products could possibly loose ... • 6. Mexican Immigration Essay Mexican immigration in the early 1900 s was a huge issue that impacted the United States in areas such as urban population, employment and many other ways. The mass number of Mexican immigrant s that migrated to the United States from Mexico was at nearly half million in between the years of 1920 and 1929. Mexicans left their native land and moved to the United States not only to achieve financial prosperity, but to get out of the chaotic environment that Mexico was in at the time due to the Mexican revolution which began in 1910. Many Mexicans that were seeking work found jobs in farming, mining, and railroad construction work this help them in their pursuit of financial prosperity. But did Mexican immigration affect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the most part this was the objective goal of the Protestant denominations, the Catholic Church and the corporate world which wanted Americanized workers. The year 1910 marked the start of the Mexican Revolution which pushed many Mexican citizens north of the border into the United States. Not only were they pushed to America by the Mexican Revolution but they were also lured here by the numerous employment opportunities such as farming, railroad work, and mining that s could be found in Midwest states such as Chicago, Colorado and Iowa. In a report that Reverend Robert N. Mclean did on Colorado Mexicans in 1924, he stated evidence that showed at the time 35 percent of the population in Las Animas County, Colorado was Mexican which amounts to 17,000 or 18,000 people. The majority of these Mexicans worked in the mining camps. Another example of this is found in a report that was done in 1928 by Anita Edgar Jones in which she surveyed Mexican Life in Chicago. She stated that The Mexicans in Chicago

  • 8. The Loose Cinematic Retelling Of The Novel Mildred... The loose cinematic retelling of the novel Mildred Pierce into a more marketable noir murder mystery greatly changes aspects of the story s literary point of view : how the story is portrayed or narrated. The film employs a third person point of view giving us extremely limited access to the thoughts of the characters. In the novelJames Cain utilizes a third person limited perspective, allowing the reader to know Mildred s thoughts and emotions. As a result the meaning of the story greatly varies between the two. While Mildred s actions in the two versions of the story are, for the most part, similar, access to her thoughts change their meaning. Without knowing her thoughts and emotions, Mildred s devotion to Veda in the film appears... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In both stories Mildred gives everything she has for Veda. She devotes all her energy searching for a job to support Veda s expensive lifestyle. Here the difference in perspective between the two versions greatly changes the significance of her actions. In the film she is rejected from every job until accepting the chance to be a waitress without hesitation. In the novel Mildred is presented with multiple job opportunities. Despite these openings Mildred rejects them and is repulsed by the idea of menial labor. The reason being is because she is terrified by how Veda will look down on her for doing such work. It isn t until she realizes the graveness of her situation that she resigns herself and accepts the job as a waitress. Access to Mildred s internal conflict in the novel during her search greatly changes the meaning of her actions. Her willingness to be a waiter in film characterizes her as a mother willing to do anything for her daughter s wellbeing. Mildred rejecting similar positions and shamefully accepting the job in the book characterizes her as more concerned with what her daughter will think of her than actually taking care of her. When Veda discovers Mildred s job as a waitress she mocks her. Both versions of the story have Mildred striking Veda to punish her and breaking down into tears after doing so. School districts implement full inclusion. I could not stress the enough. When I was younger in elementary school I had an IEP. Having an IEP already made me feel like an outcast and having to go to a separate room made that feeling even worse. I understand in some severe cases children have to be separated. In my case I just need the teacher to go a little slower and explain the concept a few times. The schoolshould have had teachers equip to handle this situation. I did not need a separate room to learn the information I just need a little help, which the teacher could have easily applied. The book notes that Children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on War on Drugs The so called War on Drugs, as declared by the Nixon administration in the signing of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, marked the beginning of the current era of mandatory minimum sentencing, racism, privatized prisons, and a powerful constituency that profits as a result of the prohibitionof drugs. Psychoactive substances have been apart of the human experience as long as humans have walked the earth. There is little hope that drugproduction will ever be curtailed, so long as there is a demand; a demand that has remained steady even though it has been forty years since the beginning of said war. As Judge James P. Gray from the Superior Court of Orange County has so plainly put it: Where did this policy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that must be made obvious is that the government makes money regardless of the results that they produce. A good majority of the criminal justice system is paid with this budgeted drug money. There has been a historical increase in judges, lawyers, police officers and the creation of entire government organizations that directly make money as a result of the prohibition. It is not only law enforcement side that would like to see prohibition remain intact; it is also the drug dealers that would like the policies to remain as they are. (Harvey) Prohibition causes the handling of drugs to become a risky business and, therefore, drives the prices up astronomically allowing for a business that has a profit in the thousands of percent with no tax. Ricky Ross, the most infamous crack cocaine dealer in Los Angeles, while being interviewed in jail told the interviewer, I became addicted to the money and also the power too I believe (Booth). These people will have the opportunity to make extraordinary amounts of money so long as current prohibition stays intact. There is clearly something wrong if both the government and drug dealers would both like to see prohibition perpetuated. In some cases, it so happens that the government is working both sides of the law. It has been alleged that the CIA, with its support of the Contra resistance group in Nicaragua, has actively participated in the importation of cocaine while being protected from prosecution as a ... Next introduced were steamboats. Shipping by steamboats was cheaper and faster. If one used a wagon, there was the cost of lifting the cargo off the ground and keeping it there as well as the cost of moving the vehicle forward. A water vessel had the advantage of only having the cost of moving forward because the water lifted the cargo. The shallow draft steamboat, however, could carry large amounts of cargo even against the flow of a river. Robert Fulton s Clermont proved the practicality of steamboats in 1807. The Enterprise was introduced by Henry Shreve in 1814 and proved to be the answer to transportation across shallow western waters. By 1820, there were 60 steamboats on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and countless others elsewhere. Steamboats could ply the waters of lakes and rivers but could not go where there was no waterway so people built canals. The canal on Lake Erie stretched 364 miles and operated twenty four hours a day seven days a week, opening the old Northwest and connecting it to New York Harbor. Critics suggest that Hills refers to the shape of a woman s stomach when pregnant, and Webster s 21st Century Dictionary defines white elephant as: [An] awkward, useless possession. Every time the man or the woman try to change the subject and avoid talking about the abortion, they end up saying something that refers to or alludes to the baby or the abortion. The woman suggests that the hills look like white elephants (324), which the man fails to acknowledge. The lack of clear communication between the two causes tension and arguments at every turn. When the woman agrees sarcastically that the man has never seen white elephants, he says, Just because you say I wouldn t have doesn t prove anything (324). The woman is clearly annoyed at the insensitivity of the man s negative feelings toward her pregnancy. For her, the baby is a priceless treasure, but for him it is a worthless fetus. Time and place are very significant in the story. The author describes where the train is boarded and where it is headed to, but he never tells the reader where the man and woman are at the moment. Although corruption has always existed, it has not been prevalent nearly as much in the past as it is today. Political corruption is when people at the highest levels of the political system misuse their power in order to make private gains. Political leaders are figures that are supposed to be looked up to and are supposed to make moral and rational decisions, not like the kind of decisions that are increasingly being made today. Considering that most of these political leaders work for the government, and the government is what this country ultimately depends on, this makes for a terrible situation. • 30. Flower Morphology And Honey Bees Flower Morphology. Flowers in blueberry are characterized by their bell shaped corollas, with stamens and anthers inside and a stigma sometimes protruding past the flower aperture (Eck and Mainland, 1971) (Figure 1). Blueberry flowers have elongated corolla tubes and poricidal anthers, which tends to make pollination by honey bees difficult (Ritzinger and Lyrene, 1999). Variation in flowersize and morphology between cultivars has been shown to impact insect foraging activity and, as a result, fruit set (Courcelles et al., 2013). Corolla length and aperture diameter appear to be some of the most important floral traits for pollen and nectar accessibility to honey bees, which impacts pollination and fertilization. Yields are also generally increased through cross pollination with the aid of insect pollinators (Ehlenfeldt, 2001; Krebs and Hancock, 1990). Generally, fewer tetrads of outcrossed pollen are required to reach pollen load saturation than with self pollination (Parrie and Lang, 1992). However, pollen tubes from self pollinated plants grow at the same rate as outcrossed pollen once germination occurs (Krebs and Hancock, 1988; Vander Kloet and Lyrene, 1987). Only a fraction of ovules develop into seeds, with over 100 ovules being common to highbush blueberry fruit and fewer than 50 seeds forming (Pritts et al., 1992). Seed number is positively correlated to fruit size (until saturation occurs) and seed abortion is dependent on the level of self fertility (Pritts et al., 1992; Vestrheim et al., 1996). It was hypothesized that if a blue, red, black , purple, and green pen were used, then the termite would follow the black pen because of it s comparable scent of that of pheromones. This was proven correct based on the data and graph. Also the purple pen had pheromones in it s scent like the black pen, concluding that only black and purple pens contain pheromones. But, the purple pen resulted in a much slower travel time from the termite. Approximately 15.83 average seconds were trimmed off from the black and purple pen. These nationalistic feelings allowed European citizens to grow extreme morale in their nation, in addition their country s individual strength in military and government. With the birth of these sentiments, however; neighbouring countries that made up the continent were denounced and portrayed to the public as untrustworthy, uncivilized, and threatening in regards to their country. Due to this, many rivalries and tensions between borders occurred, with the inclusion of the public in addition to their powerful leaders. Nationalistic pride was launched in European countries for multiple different reasons, depending on the state of the country at the time. For example, Great Britain s views regarding nationalism was apparent in relation to the country s past of maintaining strength and prosperity through peaceful relations, while nationalism was clear in Germany as a symbol of future imperialism and overwhelming continental strength. Either way, strong feelings of nationalism allowed Europe s borders to become even more divided than usual, as a result of providing an outlet for national superiority and the encouraging antagonization of surroundings nations. • 35. The Evolution Of Species Extinction Globally, most of the species (both flora and fauna) are under serious threat from direct and indirect human activities; while the direct activities such as deforestation leads to species habitat fragmentation and loss, on the other hand modifies climatic conditions coupled with gas emissions. The synergistic impact of these human driven activities questions the survivability of organisms in the morphed climatic environments. At one level fragmented habitats increase intra and inter species competitions, resulting in decline of population of species, grouping them under rare and threatened category. At other level, the amplified global temperatures in parallel with low precipitation rates, not only creates unsuitable external habitat conditions but also impose internal changes in biological clock and physiological processes of the organisms, in additions to their life history traits (Reynold et al. 2003, Price and Gittleman, 2007). This kind of changed scenario both externally and internally, brings incompatibility in the organism to cope with fluctuating climatic conditions, finally making the species as vulnerable and forcing into the process of extinction. The process of species extinction accelerated with rapid human activities and in the current scenario, many species are in the queue of extinction. • 36. Myth Of The Jezebel Myth During the early 1500s and throughout the early 1900s, slavery was committed by white men, against African Americans in order to maintain white supremacy. Slavery consisted of farming, working hard labor, and turning African Americans into servant by their white owners. Enslaved African Americans would not receive any form of money for hard labor because black men and women were thought of as property. Black enslaved and freed men and women were also raped by both white men and women, because white peoplebelieved that black peoplewere hypersexual. Many white men believed that it was impossible to rape a black woman because the belief was that black women were inherently rapeable (Block 141). One of the myths that reflected the belief that black women were inherently rapeable was the Jezebel myth. When white men first visited Africa, they noticed that black women wore little to no clothes because of the hot African heat, therefore created the believe that all black women were sexually submissive (29). Deborah White states that white men believed that... [black women] invited sexual overtures from white men, and that any resistance they displayed was mere feigning. (30). This is how the Jezebel myth came into play. Jezebel was characterized as the opposite of the mid nineteenth Victorian lady and were defined as sexual beings (29). • 37. Interpretation and Analysis of Wallace Stevens The Snow Man The Snow Man by Wallace Stevens is a poem which creates a unique dramatic situation through an effective imagery, and which compels the reader to employ another way of thinking in order to both understand the poem and realize its very theme. The first thing that is noticeable about the poem is that it is actually just one long, complex sentence. There is no rhyme, and there is no particular meter. Each foot varies: the poem becomes a combination of iambs ( the frost, and not, the sound, that is ), trochees ( winter, glitter, ), anapests ( to regard, to behold, of the land ), dactyls ( junipers ), and others that are not of those kind ( that is blowing unstressed, unstressed, stressed, unstressed). In this, the poem uses sound of the short i in an assonance to support this idea of something so distant that it is almost not there. The second group contains multiple instances of the word sound, as well as the words listener and listen. And there also is the prevailing sibilant sound of s misery, sound, leaves, same, listener, listens, and snow which mimics the hissing sound of the wind...that is blowing in the same bare place. It is clear, therefore, that these lines aim to appeal to the reader s sense of hearing. What this grouping achieves is the recognition of the process that one goes through in leaving behind his own mind and assuming another s mind, in this case that of the snow man. Presented in 1985, Sternberg was a member of the Psychology Department at Yale University. During his time as a professor, Sternberg emphasized his research in the fields of intelligence, creativity, wisdom, leadership, thinking styles, ethical reasoning, love, and hate. In the context of interpersonal relationships, the three components of love, according to the triangular theory, are an intimacy component, a passion component, and a decision/commitment component. ^(5) There are three components of love as follows: Passion: Passion can be associated with either physical arousal or emotional stimulation. Passion is defined in three ways: A strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something^ A strong feeling (such as anger) that causes people to act in a dangerous way strong sexual or romantic feeling for someone Intimacy: Intimacy is described as the feelings of closeness and attachment to one another. This tends to strengthen the tight bond that is shared between those two individuals. Additionally, having a sense of intimacy helps create the feeling of being at ease with one another, in the sense that the two parties are mutual in their feelings. Intimacy is primarily defined as something of a personal or private nature; familiarity.^ Commitment: Unlike the other two blocks, commitment involves a conscious decision to stick with one another. ... • 40. The Realism Theory Of The War On Afghanistan There are, however, aspects that disqualify the realism theory in examining the War in Afghanistan. For example, realism explicitly applies to relations between nations and consequently, war between countries. This was not the case, since the war did and still does not involve conflict between America and Afghanistan. Rather the war was between America and the Taliban government that supported the infamous terror group, al Qaeda. For this reason, realist theory does not explain this highly controversial war. Another aspect that contravenes realism as an appropriate theoretical approach to understanding the War in Afghanistan is that fact that, America toppled the Taliban government within its first few months of the invasion. Realism cannot, as a result, explain why American troops and those of allied forces have not yet been pulled out of Afghanistan more than a decade after war started (Bird and Marshall 37). Another principal attribute that disqualifies realism in debunking the Afghanistan War is the fact that America made concerted efforts to gain support from the United Nations (UN) before commencing the invasion. This contravenes the assertion put forth by the realist theory that, a nation does not take the international system or organization into consideration when taking actions directed towards safeguarding its survival. The autonomous action stipulated in realism is particularly essential when a state is threatened and cannot afford to trust other nations. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were formerly categorized as educational kamishibai, but later emphasized more on the promotion of government policies (Horner, 23). Typical themes of kokusaku kamishibai would be promoting thrift during wartime, encouraging people to go to the hospital to visit the wounded soldiers, reminding people to keep healthy so that they could contribute more to the nation, glorifying Japan and its emperor, stressing the honorable legends of the Japanese nation, and instilling the Bushido, or the way of the warriors (Horner, 23) For example, kamishibai Bokura no chikai ( Our Promise ) and O rusuban ( Home Alone ) depict how children should behave when they are left alone by their parents. Children were encouraged either help with their mothers housework or talking about their fathers who were at the war in an aspiring tone (Horner, 23). Considering the main viewership of kamishibai consists of young children, Japanese government employed kokusaku kamishibai to instruct the young generation how they should behave everyday and remind them of the characters they had to play in regard of the prosperity of the Great Imperial of Japan. This kind of kamishibai is very much similar to the moral education, but they ultimately have characteristic of wartime propaganda because the issues related to the war exist from time to time in the storyline. The main reason is that the general picture about these people is bad, but there are a lot of them around us and very often we admire them. They are doing exactly what they love work and they can never have enough of it. Although they spend most of their time working, surprisingly they are happy. They show so good results in what they do. But the consequences are great. Family life is disrupted, intellectual horizons narrow and the consequences to the workaholic s health are severe: fat, lack of exercise and stress. Why do people become workaholics? When a person becomes workaholic is there a way back? How should people around him act in order to keep both him and themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nobody can tell exactly how but there is a theory that workaholism starts at really early stages of life. Marilyn Machlowitz says in her book Workaholics supports this theory and says that this whole process starts when children play games that are connected with real time jobs or they play games connected with getting money such as selling lemonade or old magazines. She also says that children of workaholics are about to become ones in their later life development. The addiction to the child of a workaholic is not passed actively. The workaholics don t tell their children to work or not to work a lot. The reason is that children often want to be as successful as their parents. Machlowitz later on in her book also says that some children think if they don t show the best results in school their parents will not love them and therefore start working more than they should. But however it is not only the childhood that makes people workaholics. Although it might be the best period to make person think like a workaholic, the adult phase of life is the most important. The most common target of workaholism is people that have high responsibility jobs. Their motivation is fear. Workaholics on high positions just hate to fail and feel inferior to all other workers that are bellow them. Therefore they are double checking all possibilities that are ... The Crusades were a bunch of religious wars that were called on by the Pope and the Catholic Church in order to defend Christianity against the Muslims and get closer to the holy cities and other places in ancient Palestine. Another event that caused a massive change in Europe was The Black Death , a very deadly epidemic that claimed a massive number of victims. The plague was believed to be brought by rats from the eastern trade routes. There were 3 ways to get infected. First one was bubonic which gets its name from the massive swellings that the victim had on their head and arms. The swellings were usually the size of a small apple. This type was mainly spread the same way as malaria, via insects. Fleas would usually attach themselves to rats or other infected animals and then come in contact with humans, and infected immediately, the life expectancy was no more than one week. The second type was the pneumonic plague, as the word suggests it usually attacked the lungs first, because it was spread just by breathing the same air as another victim, in turn it was much more dangerous and life expectancy was no more than 2 days. The third type of the plague was the septicemic which translates to a disease which attacks the bloodstream. Suffice to say that no doctor at that time could cure it, either because they were too afraid to even go near the victims or perhaps they were just ignorant. The reaction to the plague was mixed. • 46. The Effect Of Gestational Age And Gender On Fetal And... A study conducted on Wistar rats at two time points in late gestation investigating the impact of gestational age and gender on fetal and placental weight. This study demonstrated that fetal and placental weight increased significantly between days 16 and 21 of gestation whereas gender showed minimal effect on growth. Introduction Fetal development during pregnancy is predominantly related to the placenta and its function in fetal maternal exchange (Ishikawa et al. 2006). Alterations in the interactions between the fetus and maternal uterine environment thus permit for the modification in fetal growth. In addition, the placenta also acts as an endocrine organ that produces hormones necessary for the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy as well as fetal growth and wellbeing (Malassine, Frendo Evain Brion 2003). Literature suggests fetal growth relies on the mobilisation of maternal nutrients, which involves placental growth hormone and that dysregulation of the hormone may have an adverse impact on fetal growth (Newbern Freemark 2011). The placenta consists of two distinct regions, which are the junctional (JZ) and labyrinth (LZ) zones that differ in morphological and functional terms (Ishikawa et al. 2006). This complexity therefore reflects the placenta as a highly specialised unit required for the exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between mother and fetus as alluded to earlier. • 54. Evaluation Of A Good Argument 7.3 Neutralization of the fallacy: In paragraph 4 the author has violated the sufficiency criterion of a good argument. The author has violates the sufficiency criteria by committing the fallacy of false analogy. In paragraph 4 the author states, In the mid 1940s before publicly funded healthcare my grand parents sold their car to pay the hospital bill related to my father s birth, so purchasing the birth of a child is nothing new. This is a wrong analogy. Just because you pay for hospital bill and cloning, does not make them the same. In one situation, two persons life is preserved, and in the other a person s life is changed. The author could have avoided this fallacy by not comparing these two totally different situations at all or giving an analogy that has the same situation as human cloning. 7.4 Positive Critique: In the fifth paragraph the author argues that the paternal and maternal linages are not the most important thing as what we identify ourselves with us humans, which is quite convincing. As his first premise he states, Most people I know do identify with both their maternal and paternal lineages. As his second premise he states, Dual heritage may be normal, but it is seems central to our conception of ourselves as humans. And as third premise he sates, And identical twins seems none worse for the knowledge that they are not genetically unique individuals. Even though that was said that this argument is convincing, it is not without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. What Are The Similarities Between Soccer And Soccer Hockey and soccer are two vastly different sports, both requiring different skillsets and being played very differently. Both games do not only vary athleticism needed to properly play them, but also in how the game is generally played, and how easy each game is to pick up and play. First of all, both soccer and hockey require very different athletic skillsets in order to be played at a professional level. To start off, hockey and soccer both have different objects they are trying to handle, hockey is a puck that you try to control with a stick, and soccer has a ball and uses the player s feet. In soccer you mainly use your feet to control the object, and since people naturally already use their feet in everyday life as opposed to hockey sticks,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hockey players, as compared to soccer players, need to keep track and control a much smaller object that moves at significantly greater speeds, requiring them to be extremely well coordinated. However, soccer players need to control something bigger than their own heads that moves a lot slower than a hockey puck. Speaking of speed, hockey goalies need insanely fast reflex times in order to actually save a shot. Some may argue that goalies in hockey may take up to 50% of the goal compared to the less than 10% which is taken by soccer ones, but that doesn t mean it s easy to save a goal. The puck still moves at up to 175 km/h and the goalkeeper s view is usually blocked by multiple people standing in front of him. Finally, since hockey players tend to move a lot faster around the rink than soccer players do on the field, they need to make much quicker decisions on what plays to make since they ll reach the opposing team s goal faster and have the constant threat of being knocked down. My final point is how easy each game is to pick up and play, and for this one, soccer wins. Soccer is much easier to simply pick up and start a game with your friends since it requires much less practice to be able to do okay in and needs much less equipment. Two pairs of shoes for goals, and a soccer ball and you re ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. What Is The Forced Nature Of Assimilation In her short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri depicts various scenarios of Indian immigrants moving to and living in the United States. A particularly salient theme discussed throughout is the issue of assimilation vs. integration. Though the terms are often considered interchangeable, in this book assimilation argues for adoption of American culture. Conversely, integration advocates for the coexistence of foreign and American customs and allows immigrants to establish a sense of home away from their original countries. The story entitled, The Third and Final Continent specifically recounts a young Indian man s experience trying to establish himself in Cambridge, Massachusetts after living in London. Prior to his immigration, the narrator had his marriage arranged by his family in Calcutta, and much of the story illustrates the narrator s apprehension for his wife, Mala s arrival from India. Recognizing that food is a significant aspect of most cultures, Lahiri uses it as a motif to indicate the transformation of the narrator s cultural status in the United States. Through food, she ultimately asserts the possibility of positive integration, rather than just assimilation, into American society. Lahiri demonstrates the forced nature of assimilation through the narrator s relationship with American food. When the narrator first arrives in Cambridge and checks in at the YMCA, he notices a ...
