The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British...
The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British Parliamentary System
Successive Kings of England, George I (1714 1727) and George II (1727 60), both proved highly
disinterested in the political aspects of their country. As a result of this disinterest, each in turn had to
leave national ruling to the Government. Subsequently, in 1716 the Septennial Act was passed, which
extended the life of parliament from 3 to 7 years. This provided for an unprecedented period of
parliament stability, and ultimately limited the powers of the king. (Barnett, 2002 p654). Political
power had now shifted from the king to his chosen first minister. Parliament at this time could not be

However, they were patiently awaiting their position as minister in the House of Lords. It is in the
House of Lords they would have most power. House of Commons members had no social
responsibility at this time. The running of Government was very corrupt and members were not
concerned about keeping their seats as they inherited their positions. The use of sinecures is at an all
time high and a mere 4% of the population had the right to vote. The Monarchy had indirect power
and was able to use taxes and funding to achieve beneficial results in Parliament that suited their own
interests.
William Pitt was raised in a highly politically aware family. His father William, who was the First Earl
of Chatham (1766) |took great interest and William junior was sent to Cambridge for his university
education. The Earl of Chatham was determined that his son would eventually become a member of
the House of Commons and at an early age, William was given lessons on how to become an effective
orator (Sparticus, 2005 Pg1). At Cambridge, William Pitt studied political philosophy among other
subjects. At university, Pitt worked hard and showed a reserved, aloof and self controlled character
(Biography of William Pitt, 2005 p1). Pitt suffered with gout and this combined with an antiquated
privilege that allowed noblemen s sons to graduate without examination, meant that Pitt was able to

How Does Proton Pump Acid Affects The Body
Nutrition and lifestyle can change the body s response to drugs; conversely, a nutrient drug interaction
also affects the nutritional content in the body. Drugs may also change food absorption and
metabolism in the body. Some drugs can increase GI motility, increasing or decreasing food digestion.
Other drugs decrease GI motility. Some drugs are better tolerated if taken with food.1
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most important drugs in order to treat gastrointestinal
diseases. Proton pump inhibitors are a group of drugs whose main action is reduction of stomach acid
production. 2
Iron is an essential mineral in the body and there is iron in all cells in the body. It is the mineral that
should be in our diet, it is necessary for transport of oxygen through hemoglobin. Iron is also vital for
oxidation by cell.3 Dietary iron consist of two forms: heme or organic iron is found in animal product
such as meat and fish which attached to proteins called heme proteins. None heme iron is found in
vegetable such as bean and spinach. Heme iron is typically absorbed at a higher rate (20%) rather than
non heme iron (2%).4 Hydrochloride (HCl) secretes in order to help digestion of the food at beginning

God Save the Green: Are the Royal Family a Luxury we can no Longer Afford? Cheers rise from the
jubilant crowd as the crowning moment we ve all been waiting for finally arrives. Thousands fill the
Mall, craning their necks as Queen Elizabeth II steps out onto her balcony, offering a smile to her
adoring subjects. Clad in her bedazzled hat, she surveys the scene: a vast sea of British flags, frantic in
their support of sixty years on the throne, waving in time to a raucous rendition of God Save the

Research and Development and Financial Performance of UK...
Research and Development and Financial Performance of UK Manufacturing Firms
UK manufacturing firms have many factors which influence their financial performance. Research and
Development could be a key factor in determining a firms success, however it does not assure
financial improvement in all businesses due to the extensive variety of business types. Research and
Development can be defined as the scientific investigation necessary to discover new products and the
process of bringing these products onto the market. A manufacturing firm, which generally refers to a
business that makes or processes raw or semi processed materials into either a finished product or
further processed materials, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Research and Development can also be used by small shops and retailers, by means of
questionnaires, staff suggestion boxes, feedback forms and market research etc.. This low amount of
Research and Development is typically normal, as small shops rely more on customer service, niche
markets, and reasonable quality and price products.
Research and Development can often be a very risky process, since much money can be spent on ideas
that will never be commercialised. In product oriented firms, such as manufacturing companies have
many factors which affect their financial performance. Research and Development is a useful way of
improving profits, if there is significant funding, to employ scientists and researchers to produce and
develop the most technically advanced products to date, which can then be marketed and turned into
cash cows or stars. Also Research and Development could develop new methods to produce existing
products, to lower average costs. However this depends on the skill of the scientists and researchers,
because despite how much money is pumped into the Research and Development department, without
ideas, invention and innovation the business will have no rewards. Furthermore, even if Research and
Development does
its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment, which is unable
to be flexible enough to

The American Dream In The Day Of The Locust
It s called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it. George Carlin. In the
novel, The Day of the Locust, Nathanael West is able to depict the falsity behind the American Dream.
The dream is dangerous. West views Hollywood s version of the phenomenon known as the American
Dream as a myth that many people fall victim to, which is shown through the recurring themes of
despair in the novel.
Through the characters of The Day of the Locust, Nathaniel West is able to illustrate the dangers of the
Hollywood dream. According to Christenson The virtues that were once associated with the dream
have all but disappeared from the societies depicted in American literature as the quest for fame,
fortune, and power has replaced them. (2). Each character in the novel has a different background, but
ultimately came to California for a better life. They are blinded by their desires, with each of them
desiring something they can t have. In pursuit of this fictitious lifestyle, each character has to put on a
certain persona. They all are a representation of a failed attempt at accomplishing the Hollywood
dream. When people think of the American Dream, most think of the good that arises with it. They
don t consider the hardships and obstacles one must overcome. Many immigrants come to America in
hopes of accomplishing their dreams and aspirations, and if they can t, maybe their children can.
Haspel debates how The U.S. has changed drastically in the last several decades. The middle class,
which was the heart of the American Dream, is dwindling, and the disparity of wealth among social
classes continues to grow. (41) This defends the popular phrase The rich get richer while the poorer
get poorer. In essence, the American Dream can be viewed as the aim to climb the economic ladder.
As the economic gap between the different social classes grow, it becomes harder for certain groups to
see the American Dream as an attainable goal. The American Dream entails a variety of opportunities,
and it is hard for minorities to grasp such opportunities with limited resources. Haspel also debates
that Another issue contributing to the decay of the American Dream is the country s changing family

Translation Of Evidence And Practice
Translation of Evidence to Practice Does the compliance with a sedation protocol improve after nurses
receive a sedation competency over a three month period? The available data supported the hypothesis
that nursing education and competency can lead to consistent best practices and positive outcomes for
patients. The answers to this research question can help develop interventions that support best
practices for patients who are mechanically ventilated and receiving intravenous sedation. The
literature supported a positive impact on patient outcomes when sedation awakening trials (SAT) and
spontaneous breathing trials (SBT) were coordinated (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012,
Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The literature also supported the compliance of the
coordination was more predictable when the nursing division was provided with protocol education
(Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The summation of
findings indicates that when education was integrated with the research methods, the outcomes related
to nursing compliance were consistent and led to the completion of best practices. Nursing education
was a controlled variable in research that found a positive correlation with SAT and SBT and
outcomes for patients. Additionally, research without this controlled variable found inconsistencies
with the performance of SAT/SBT and related outcomes. As a result, the particular relationship

extent was the Indian Removal Act necessary in the eyes of the U.S. Government? The first source is

support the teaching of American History in K 12 schools and colleges. A U.S. history textbook is
included on this web site. The site also includes a historical overview, and image, links to Digital
History textbook chapters, historic maps, bibliographies, classroom handouts, chronologies, film
guides, charts, primary source documents, historic newspaper articles. Digital History offers fact
checks, an interactive timeline that links to primary source documents, and an overview of American
history. They also have learning modules; each of which includes recommended documents, films, and
historic images, and teaching resources including lesson plans, fact checks, and activities. The purpose
is to give accurate historical references for both teachers and students. This is valuable, for it indicates
that an extended period of time has been examined, and gives a detailed timeline of events that
happened related to my question. However, the fact that the author covers about 70 years of history
when my question is looking at about 10 years of time takes away from the detail that could have been

Emily Dickinson Essay
amp;#8220;Best Things dwell out of Sight ;(#998) describes one of America amp;#8217;s greatest
poets. She dwelled out of sight for most of her life and her poems, with the exception of seven
published anonymously, remained out of sight until well after her death. Many literary scholars have
attempted a biography on this mysterious woman and poet and yet none are conclusive. Dickinson
remains an enigma even today but biographical speculation allows us to analyze some of her poetry
even though we may be completely inaccurate about what we presuppose.
There are some facts about Emily Elizabeth Dickinson that we know for certain. She was born on

After leaving school she returned home and spent the remainder of her life there. She took occasional
trips but always returned home to her sanctuary and eventually stopped travelling and even leaving her
house completely. She corresponded with her confidantes and friends through letters, rarely seeing

The men she corresponded with during her life include Benjamin Newton, a law student; Reverend
Charles Wadsworth, a Philadelphia minister; Thomas Higginson, a literary critic and Civil War hero,
and Otis Lord, a judge who had been her father amp;#8217;s closest friend. She regarded these men as
intellectual advisers as well as friends. Although many of them found her poetry to be fascinating,
none advised her to publish them.
Dickinson wrote the majority of her poetry during the 1860 amp;#8217;s at which time she had
become increasingly reclusive. She began wearing only white dresses and she hardly left her home, let
alone Amherst. Although she occasionally visited friends, by the time she was forty years of age, she
refused invitations to leave home and spent the remainder of her life taking care of her parents until
they died (her father died in 1847, her mother died in 1882). Emily herself became bedridden during
the last year of her life and her sister, Lavinia, nursed her until

Oberoi Mall until Burger King opened up right next to it. If Taco Bell want to increase its sales they
should consider relocating its store to an area with high youth population, for example; around school

The Code Of The Street
Everyone wants to be a part of the streets but not everyone has the heart, dedication, or strength to live
the lifestyle. There is a law of ethics when running around in the streets. There are rules that one
always has to follow in order to survive. There is no love when dealing with those that follow the
code, ones heart has to be made coal because anything can happen and anything goes. Out there in the
streets you are a family that continuously looks out for each other and let nothing separate the bond
that you have on the streets. In this paper I will discuss what the code of the street is and what is
consist of, also residential segregation and how it hold those in the streets back from achieving
success.
For those that are not from the streets or have only seen what is portrayed on television, they may not
get a clear picture of what the code pertains to. The code of the streets are certain rules one has to
follow when dealing with police or even other people in the streets that do not run with the same
people you run the streets with. The code includes rules such as no snitching, stealing from one
another and no talking about what goes on in the streets. The concept of not snitching means that even
when something has happened to you and you know who did it, you are not allowed to tell because it
could get everyone in trouble for more than what happened to you. You don t steal from one another is
saying that you do not steal from the hand that feeds you, the life in the

Circumcision, Abortion, And The Procedure Of Genital Cutting
Circumcision, possible for both males and females, implies the procedure of genital cutting. This
process is one of the oldest surgical procedures done in a variety of countries. However, circumcision
can not only be accepted for medical reasons but also tend to appear defining for one s religious,
cultural, as well as social lives. Thus, traditional circumcision is usually undertaken in worse
conditions than the traditional medical one. With recent research, numerous advantages for a
circumcised person s health have been proven. In particular, circumcision is now known to reduce the
risk of becoming infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), reduce the risk of penile
cancer as well as cervical cancer in women. Another medical benefit is the reduced risk of UTI (World
Health Organization, n.d.). Due to these benefits, more parents are opting for circumcision, for the
medical profits of the procedure. In addition, in spite of the found benefits of circumcision, the matter
has caused a range of legal and ethical issues that cannot be neglected. Still, from the overall
perspective, circumcision is known to be a rewarding procedure.
One popular form of circumcision in developing countries is female circumcision, which is also
known as female genital cutting or genital mutilation. This practice is a mostly seen for cultural
reasons in Africa and Asia (Nour, Mann, Falk, 2016). The procedure can appear in two types: excision

Examples Of Self Reconciliation In A Raisin In The Sun
We often forget our moral development in life. It tends to lead us to a sense of confusion, and anger.
But what we should find most valuable in ourselves, is our conscious that sends us a right or wrong
feeling in our integrity. In the play A Raisin In The Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, she precisely executes
the true meaning of self reconciliation within the characters in their scenes. The development among
each character helps them understand what they need in life; opposed to what they did. The growth
they signify adds to the plot of each character in their finest form.

Drum Solo Research Paper
A drum solo is defined as being a instrumental solo played on the drum kit. A drum solo may be
preconceived or improvised, and of any length. Rock solos often times have little to absolutely no
accompaniment from the other band members and don t necessarily have to stick to the tempo, form
or structure of the song. Jazz drum solos on the other hand, often trade fours (or eights or even
twelves, in the case of blues) with other soloing instruments and will stick with the form and structure.
The 1980 s actually saw a decline in drummers recording drum solos because too many drummers had
done a lot of solos on record, but that doesn t mean some of the best solos didn t come out in this
decade. I put together a list that features 15 well known drum solos from the 1980 s.

The Theme of Heritage in Everyday Use Essay
Readers of Alice Walker s, Everyday Use , discusses how the narrator realizes that Maggie
understands her own heritage. What does the narrator mean when she says, Just like when I m in

amazing that she has not done before? Some readers opine that the narrator knows what it really feels
like to have family. Others say that the narrator recognizes the importance of giving. However, both
these readings are not with the point. The narrator realizes that Maggie should have the quilts because
they embody her heritage.

During an evening after dinner, while Wangero rummages through Walker s trunk, she finds two
quilts. The quilts that Wangero holds were sewn by Grandma Dee. The quilts each symbolize Maggie
s heritage. For instance, One quilt is the Lone Star Pattern. The other is Walk Around the Mountain. In
both of them are scraps of dresses Grandma Dee wore fifty and more years ago. Another one has bits
and pieces of Grandpa Jarrell s Paisley shirts. And one teeny faded blue piece, about the size of a
penny matchbox, that is from Grandpa Ezra s uniform that he wore in the Civil War (125).
The general meaning of heritage is the characteristics and traits of a family passed from one
generation to the next. In this case, the quilts are being passed down from Grandma Dee and Grandpa
Ezra to Walker. But now the question is, who will the quilts pass down to next? Just right after the
controversy, Wangero is unsure about if Maggie should have the quilts because Maggie knows how to

Wangero is attempting to explain to Walker that the quilts have sentimental value. In her own mind,
Walker questions Wangero, what would she do with the quilts? Wangero s response is that she would
display the quilts. Wangero looks over at Maggie and contemplates about the quilts which she holds in

Descriptive Essay On Dystopia
Dystopian Setting
The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever, was
now a contaminated wasteland. The land looked dry, destroyed and lonely. The morning breeze felt
like crying sorrows, and the grey deceitful sky awed down at us. In the deepest corner of despair lies
dystopia where hope dies. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his utopia. Only
visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew. Stretching
away from the wall was a humongous bridge that towered the wall. Standing tall on the bridge was a

The reek of death hangs in the air throughout the land. Filling the mouths of those who lived in this

Aggressively, the wind walked past the building with its cruddy feeling, blowing away all signs of life.

Devaux et al. (2009) noted that the involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation systems
have enhanced rapid diffusion, adoption, development of knowledge and technological output.
Consequently, the active involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation system has been
integral in enhancing sustainable growth in agriculture (Ojijo et al., 2013). Correspondingly, the
collaboration of diverse heterogeneous stakeholders bring about active interaction, strong linkages and

Proper Strategy Implementation And Evaluation Of Dish Network
This essay will react to the proper strategy implementation and evaluation that should be adopted by
Dish Network. Dish is an American based corporation that provides broadcasting services to clients
via television and the internet. A strategic management plan such as that possessed by Dish can be
successfully implemented when a high focus is placed on measuring the level of performance and
commitment in the implementation and evaluation phases. The strategic plan should be evaluated
before, and after it is implemented. Some of Dish s past strategies have been unsuccessful, while some
were implemented successfully. Before a strategic plan is implemented at Dish Network, the
organization has always ensured that it has several parameters in check. The delivery process that is to
be utilized in the implementation of the specific strategy is usually aligned to the vision of the
corporation.
Dish Corporation s strategy has in the past been successfully achieved based on correct timing in
merging policies, operations, and incorporating the required changes within the organization. In the
past, the company has ensured that its financial and administrative capabilities are matched to the
tasks to be executed within specified durations. The management also selects the projects that are most
likely to be achieved and contribute to the attaining of set goals and profits; in line with the
organization s short and long term strategies. All organizations have competing projects since

Educator and Human Rights Activist, William Edward...
There comes a point and time in history when certain individuals excel and stand out above their
peers. They fight for humanity and justice as if the hope for tomorrow has started to slip away. They
personally take blame and are ridiculed for their beliefs but this does not hamper their efforts as it only
gives them more ambition to be heard. As you will see in this paper there is one individual that not
only stood for human rights but he stood for a culture that has been repressed for centuries. Born on
February 23, 1868 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts William Edward Burghardt Du Bois s official
job titles were to include educator, civil rights activist and journalist (Bolden, 2008). He was known as
a social reformer to the psychology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This story, while hard to believe because of the scenario does represent what he stood behind all of his
years. His story is a real basic psychological theory that so simple to follow and understand. His
ideology was that it comes to the choice of the individual to discriminate, hate and be racists because
it is a personal choice not a biological one. His journalistic background enabled him to use his writing
talents to help try and shift the socio and politico economic settings that had been long in place in our
society.
As a skilled writer/scientist he wrote about a study called the, Suppression that studied the slave trade
and in 1896 it was published allowing Du Bois to speak to the world about ending racism and how
that evil, if stopped, could have prevented the civil war (Lewis, 1993). He was able to gather
documented material to build a very impressive study on how this era had become so damaging to the
American culture and added fuel to racism that was now a commonplace. Another great achievement
that Du Bois had accomplished was the writing of his study, The Philadelphia Negro , in which he was
asked to study the Seventh Ward. This area was the poorest of Philadelphia and the city was blaming
the African Americans that were living there for giving the city a bad reputation (Bolden, 2008). The

Weathering And Erosion Of Soft Rocks
Soft rocks are very important geomaterials since they are heavily used in construction for example,
buildings, road and dams but they sometimes seem to cause some problems due to their sedimentary
properties like fast weathering and low strength. Weathering is a process in which rock break down or
dissolve with the help of natural agents. Weathering and erosion are constantly changing the earth s
surface, so that has a big impact on construction and usage of soft rocks over time. Weathering can be
either mechanical or chemical. Some regions in the world mainly possess weak sedimentary rocks and
very low in other stronger rock like igneous or metamorphic. Because of the these weak
characteristics, it might be tough to use soft rocks especially since some methods and systems are
made mainly for hard rocks. These issues that we are dealing with lead to the need of the
understanding of soft rocks, how they work and how to prevent them from breaking up and crumbling
in order to maximize their usage.
Weathering and Erosion
Weathering is the process where rocks and minerals break down or dissolve into smaller pieces and
fragments. Erosion is then the transportation of weathering remains. This is done with the help of
natural agents such as water, wind, animals..etc. It all depends on the composition of the rock,
different agents such as temperature change and rainfall amount. Water for examples is the most
common, like when it seeps in the pores of rocks, freezes overnight and

The Fantasy Story
Today I #8217;d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all about it but I #8217;ll
try to do it as good as possible and not being boring. First fantasy motifs were shown in romanticism.
We all know the mystical and unreal characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for building the special
mood and charm of that epoch used that figures.
But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner experiences of the main
character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of explaining the unreal and difficult to
understand visions or event. In the course of time it began to live it #8217;s own life more and more
the writers started to use these motifs. And what had happened? They created ... Show more content

But one day, after many happy years on the throne, they got lost in a forest. While walking the trees
became coats and they suddenly fell out of the closet. Long years in Narnia were just few minutes in
the human world. Children have big imagination so crossing the line between fantasies and real is not
a problem, but it is a big challenge for readers. Lewis created the magic land and as he once said:
#8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon, stars and Aslan, there is no doubt:
this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;. The next kinds, beloved by fantasy fans
are #8220;never lands #8221;. They are perfectly defined by one of first never lands creators Lord
Dunsany. He named it as places #8220;beyond the fields we know #8221;. And we are really crossing
the line of human perception. Authors don #8217;t blink their eye, don #8217;t pretend like in the
Venice carnival. Not everything is from the beginning land of fantasy. Tolkien made never lands legal,
gave them autonomy and independence, full rights in authors imagination. He said that artistic
imagination has no borders and cannot be restricted by what is real. We can see what we want to see,
also the land of never. Never lands can use the cultural heritage of our world, but it all depends on the
author. Of course playing in never lands must be based on understanding and agreement between
writer and reader, we have to accept all the rules and it

My Student Leader Interview, A University Of Toledo And...
For my student leader interview, I interviewed Cordaro (Cord) Murry H. He is a junior here at the
University of Toledo and someone I personally look up for multiple reasons. Cord gives off a vibe that
just says, Hey! I m a natural leader! It makes band flow easier when he gives instructions and it also
makes him much more approachable than the head director. Cord is what I imagine a leader who is
dedicated to their followers looks like.
Cord is highly involved in both the Rocket Marching Band and in his fraternity, Triangle. For the
Rocket Marching Band, Cord was a squad leader in the fall of 2015 and is now the Piccolo section
leader. As a squad leader, Cord ensured that those around him knew the marching drill so that practice
ran smoothly. He also assisted underclassmen with learning traditions about the Rocket Marching
Band. As the piccolo section leader, Cord gives advice and instructions to the help the piccolo section
get through practices and performances. He is also our voice and our connection to the drum majors
and directors. Cord gained his positions of leadership in the Rocket Marching band through an
application and an interview process with the directors. In his fraternity, Triangle, Cord has assumed
many positions throughout his time with the fraternity. Cord began his leadership journey for Triangle
as the treasurer during the spring and summer semesters of 2016. As treasurer, he collected dues, paid
bills, and set up fundraisers for the fraternity.

Three Foot Wave Term Papers
As soon as I get on my yellow five foot surfboard, my tiny heart starts pumping heavily. A muscular
coach with tan skin pushes me past the collapsing waves. Then, out of nowhere, a three foot
gargantuan wave rolls quickly toward me. THIS IS NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND! I screech in my
mind. A coach quickly swims toward me, Hey, get ready kid, this is your first wave. Brace yourself for
the ride of your life. I gulp and quickly paddle as hard as I can, so hard I forget to stand up like people
normally do. As I stay there lying and paddling on the yellow surfboard, I think, Well, this is an
embarrassing way to kick the bucket. Immediately, a thought pops into my head. HEADLINE: Boy
Drowns at the Foot of a Three Foot Wave. With urging from the coaches, I decide to paddle as hard as
I can, towards the shore. Unexpectedly, the tip of my yellow surfboard hits and buries itself into
millions of eroded rocks and shells. I tumble very roughly clinging to my yellow surfboard. For a
second, I feel as if I am going to drown because of a three foot wave, but I persist and finally burst
suddenly out of the water, which had become my enemy. After getting sent back to the inviting shore,

Coming Of Age Quotes
You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view until you climb
into his skin and walk around in it (Chapter 3). This quote was taken from the novel To Kill A
Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee. Throughout the novel, Jem and Scout begin their journey to the
coming of age as they interact and learn more about Boo Radley and the secrets of the Radley Manor.
This key scene significantly contributes to their coming of age because as Scout learns to consider
other people s perspectives, she gains a wider view on the world and the people who live in it. She
becomes more conscious of the actions she chooses to make and how they affect her, as well as the
people who surround her.
Throughout the novel, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One character that shows a strong motif is Dolphus Raymond, who teaches Scout that what you see on
the outside, may not be exactly what is truly there. He is portrayed as a drunk man who doesn t care
about anything and has a Co Cola bottle full of whiskey in there (Chapter 16) with him at all times. He
is a man that Maycomb county takes as a joke. But when further reading, you find out that his coke
bottle really is filled with just coke as stated by Scout in chapter nineteen, You mean all you drink in
that sack s Coca Cola? Just plain Coca Cola? . He lets others believe what they want to about him
because he has a black wife, and that wasn t acceptable to society during the nineteen twenties. He
would rather let them think that his actions are due to his alcoholism, and not his free mind because
having a black woman as a wife was illegal. These motifs are littered throughout the entirety of the
book. Atticus s advice is shown in this situation because Scout is learning more and more about why
people do things. She learned that people have reasons for the actions that they do and that she cannot
judge someone based off of rumors, like she had done prior with Mr. Boo

Dualism In Stephen King
Aside from Shakespeare and Stevenson there are a plethora of authors who are as proficient or
possibly more adept at portraying the theme of a book, play, or poem. One considerable example is
Stephen King. He is an otherwise unusual author. King s books seem to depict theme in a
extraordinary way. His atrocious book IT has a rather nightmarish way of illustrating plot and theme.
The book, though rather monstrous and horrifying, is a great read for young adults. King does an
exceptional job at representing duality in IT. The story follows the lives of seven children as they are
tormented by a infernal entity that feeds off the fears and phobias of its victims to disguise itself while
preying on little kids. The creature, or It predominantly appears in the form of a clown to draw its
preferred prey of young children. All the while each member of the group has encountered the
terrifying life forms manifestation in its various shape shifting disguises; these include a malevolent
clown for Richie, a headless boy for Ben, a fountain of blood for Beverly, a diseased and rotting man
known as a Leper for Eddie, a creepy painting come to life for Stan, Mike s parents burning alive, and
finally an apparition of Georgie for Bill. King s main motive was to insinuate fear in the lives of kids,
in his book IT. Most children, around the age of 10 12, are afraid of something.. King stated in a 2013
interview that he came up with the idea for Pennywise after asking himself what scared

Patient Dissatisfaction Of Piv Catheter Replacements
Introduction
In a local San Diego County hospital, on a 28 bed progressive care unit specializing in cardiac
telemetry, the current protocol for replacing peripherally inserted intravenous catheter is every 72
hours or less if clinically indicated. The average daily census of patients on the unit is roughly 23
patients with an increase of 5% during the winter months. There are nearly 50,000 patients admitted
annually to this unit with 47,670 discharged home. The hospital is located in Serra Mesa and serves
the residents of this region as well as the surrounding area with a mean age of the patient being 52.
The patients seeking care are mostly English or Spanish speaking, but represent a wide variety of
cultures. The RNs on this unit are working with patients in a 4:1 ratio leading to a fast paced workflow
and heavy workload for the nurses.
Staff nurses on the unit expressed their frustration with the current practice regarding the frequency of
PIV catheter replacements, stating that it was time consuming and contributed to patient
dissatisfaction. The process of replacing a PIV can often be time consuming and may take multiple
attempts in order to successfully insert a new PIV. Research supports a change in practice that address
these concerns. A pilot study performed in 2012, by Rickard, Webster, Wallis, Marsh, McGrail, French
and Whitby indicated that replacing PIV catheters only when clinically indicated did not lead to
catheter related complications, as previously

2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report
SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes Schiff
condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the formation
of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole
transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV
spectroscopy which is attributed to the π π* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n π* transition of
C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at
411nm.
The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a
direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the
azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad
shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping
with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak absorption in the
visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching the light absorbing
molecules.

Kamehameha s Account In The Ka Nupepa Kuokoa
There are differing versions of Kamehameha I s birth. Hawaiian historian Samuel Kamakau published
an account in the Ka Nupepa Kuokoa in 1867, which was widely accepted until February 10, 1911.
The version written by Kamakau and held by Fornander was challenged by the oral family history of
the Kaha family as published in a series of newspaper articles also appearing in the Kuoko. After the
republication of the story by Kamakau to a larger English reading public in 1911 Hawaii, another
version of the story was published by Kamaka Stillman, who had objected to the Nupepa article. Her
version is verified by others within the Kaha family
Kamehameha is considered the son of Keōua, founder of the House of Keoua, and Kekuʻiʻapoiwa II.

Never shall I forget that night, the first night in the camp, which has turned my life into one long

Night opens in 1941 when Eliezer is 12 years old. At the time he is living in the Hungarian town of
Sighet. He is the only son in an Orthodox Jewish household, highly observant of Jewish tradition.
Eliezer keen interest in Judaism brings him to avidly study the Cabbala, a book based on Jewish
mysticism. His instruction is cut short, however, when his teacher, Moche the Beadle, is deported.
Moche returns after a few months with a horrifying tale. The Gestapo, or German secret police, took
charge of his train, led everybody into the woods, and systematically butchered them. Nobody
believes Moche and the small town quickly takes him for a lunatic. Yet, the reality of Moche s
experience becomes evident when a series of increasingly repressive measures are passed by the Nazi
s who occupy Hungary in the spring of 1944. The Jews of Eliezer s town are herded onto cattle cars,
commencing a nightmarish journey: after days and nights crammed into the car, exhausted and near
starvation, the passengers arrive at Birkenau, the gateway to the concentration camp, Auschwitz.
At Aushwitz, he and his father are separated from his mother and sisters, whom they never see again.
They are then stripped, shaved, and disinfected while their captors treat them with almost
unimaginable cruelty. Eventually, they are marched to a work camp, Buna, where Eliezer is put to
work in an electrical fittings factory. Under slave labof conditions, severely malnourished and

  • 2. The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British... The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British Parliamentary System Successive Kings of England, George I (1714 1727) and George II (1727 60), both proved highly disinterested in the political aspects of their country. As a result of this disinterest, each in turn had to leave national ruling to the Government. Subsequently, in 1716 the Septennial Act was passed, which extended the life of parliament from 3 to 7 years. This provided for an unprecedented period of parliament stability, and ultimately limited the powers of the king. (Barnett, 2002 p654). Political power had now shifted from the king to his chosen first minister. Parliament at this time could not be described as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, they were patiently awaiting their position as minister in the House of Lords. It is in the House of Lords they would have most power. House of Commons members had no social responsibility at this time. The running of Government was very corrupt and members were not concerned about keeping their seats as they inherited their positions. The use of sinecures is at an all time high and a mere 4% of the population had the right to vote. The Monarchy had indirect power and was able to use taxes and funding to achieve beneficial results in Parliament that suited their own interests. William Pitt was raised in a highly politically aware family. His father William, who was the First Earl of Chatham (1766) |took great interest and William junior was sent to Cambridge for his university education. The Earl of Chatham was determined that his son would eventually become a member of the House of Commons and at an early age, William was given lessons on how to become an effective orator (Sparticus, 2005 Pg1). At Cambridge, William Pitt studied political philosophy among other subjects. At university, Pitt worked hard and showed a reserved, aloof and self controlled character (Biography of William Pitt, 2005 p1). Pitt suffered with gout and this combined with an antiquated privilege that allowed noblemen s sons to graduate without examination, meant that Pitt was able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Discursive Essay God Save the Green: Are the Royal Family a Luxury we can no Longer Afford? Cheers rise from the jubilant crowd as the crowning moment we ve all been waiting for finally arrives. Thousands fill the Mall, craning their necks as Queen Elizabeth II steps out onto her balcony, offering a smile to her adoring subjects. Clad in her bedazzled hat, she surveys the scene: a vast sea of British flags, frantic in their support of sixty years on the throne, waving in time to a raucous rendition of God Save the Queen. It probably never entered anyone s heads that the funding was taken from their taxes as they donned absurd red, white and blue creations in the name of patriotism. Whether or not the money was raised seems to be an undisclosed matter, perhaps a stark indication that the profit they originally anticipated wasn t reached. The fact that the Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated worldwide perhaps shows what a prominent figure the Queen is the whole world over. Maybe that has gone to her head, as it is no doubt her British loyalists paying for the commuting and security for her. Why should we cough up so she can swan off to Timbuktu or the like? Perhaps she s caught onto the fact that her position isn t quite what it used to be when the monarchy could order a criminal to be beheaded as easily as calling their maid for a cup of tea. Perhaps she s upset now that she has so few powers, besides handing out awards to heroes and celebrities. She even had a role in the James Bond sketch for the Olympics to boost her appeal. It s sad to see what antics the old dear has been reduced to just to gain public appreciation, but then again, maybe it s time she paid attention ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research and Development and Financial Performance of UK Manufacturing Firms UK manufacturing firms have many factors which influence their financial performance. Research and Development could be a key factor in determining a firms success, however it does not assure financial improvement in all businesses due to the extensive variety of business types. Research and Development can be defined as the scientific investigation necessary to discover new products and the process of bringing these products onto the market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Research and Development can also be used by small shops and retailers, by means of questionnaires, staff suggestion boxes, feedback forms and market research etc.. This low amount of Research and Development is typically normal, as small shops rely more on customer service, niche markets, and reasonable quality and price products. Research and Development can often be a very risky process, since much money can be spent on ideas that will never be commercialised. In product oriented firms, such as manufacturing companies have many factors which affect their financial performance. Research and Development is a useful way of improving profits, if there is significant funding, to employ scientists and researchers to produce and develop the most technically advanced products to date, which can then be marketed and turned into cash cows or stars. Also Research and Development could develop new methods to produce existing products, to lower average costs. However this depends on the skill of the scientists and researchers, because despite how much money is pumped into the Research and Development department, without ideas, invention and innovation the business will have no rewards. Furthermore, even if Research and Development does its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment, which is unable to be flexible enough to ... • 6. The American Dream In The Day Of The Locust It s called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it. George Carlin. In the novel, The Day of the Locust, Nathanael West is able to depict the falsity behind the American Dream. The dream is dangerous. West views Hollywood s version of the phenomenon known as the American Dream as a myth that many people fall victim to, which is shown through the recurring themes of despair in the novel. Through the characters of The Day of the Locust, Nathaniel West is able to illustrate the dangers of the Hollywood dream. According to Christenson The virtues that were once associated with the dream have all but disappeared from the societies depicted in American literature as the quest for fame, fortune, and power has replaced them. (2). Each character in the novel has a different background, but ultimately came to California for a better life. They are blinded by their desires, with each of them desiring something they can t have. In pursuit of this fictitious lifestyle, each character has to put on a certain persona. They all are a representation of a failed attempt at accomplishing the Hollywood dream. When people think of the American Dream, most think of the good that arises with it. They don t consider the hardships and obstacles one must overcome. Many immigrants come to America in hopes of accomplishing their dreams and aspirations, and if they can t, maybe their children can. Haspel debates how The U.S. has changed drastically in the last several decades. The middle class, which was the heart of the American Dream, is dwindling, and the disparity of wealth among social classes continues to grow. (41) This defends the popular phrase The rich get richer while the poorer get poorer. In essence, the American Dream can be viewed as the aim to climb the economic ladder. As the economic gap between the different social classes grow, it becomes harder for certain groups to see the American Dream as an attainable goal. The American Dream entails a variety of opportunities, and it is hard for minorities to grasp such opportunities with limited resources. Haspel also debates that Another issue contributing to the decay of the American Dream is the country s changing family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Translation Of Evidence And Practice Translation of Evidence to Practice Does the compliance with a sedation protocol improve after nurses receive a sedation competency over a three month period? The available data supported the hypothesis that nursing education and competency can lead to consistent best practices and positive outcomes for patients. The answers to this research question can help develop interventions that support best practices for patients who are mechanically ventilated and receiving intravenous sedation. The literature supported a positive impact on patient outcomes when sedation awakening trials (SAT) and spontaneous breathing trials (SBT) were coordinated (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The literature also supported the compliance of the coordination was more predictable when the nursing division was provided with protocol education (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The summation of findings indicates that when education was integrated with the research methods, the outcomes related to nursing compliance were consistent and led to the completion of best practices. Nursing education was a controlled variable in research that found a positive correlation with SAT and SBT and outcomes for patients. Additionally, research without this controlled variable found inconsistencies with the performance of SAT/SBT and related outcomes. As a result, the particular relationship between ... The Indian Removal Act Necessary Section 1: Identification an Evaluation of sources This investigation will explore the question: To what extent was the Indian Removal Act necessary in the eyes of the U.S. Government? The first source is www.digitalhistory.uh.edu. The origin of this source is valuable because the web site was designed to support the teaching of American History in K 12 schools and colleges. A U.S. history textbook is included on this web site. The site also includes a historical overview, and image, links to Digital History textbook chapters, historic maps, bibliographies, classroom handouts, chronologies, film guides, charts, primary source documents, historic newspaper articles. Digital History offers fact checks, an interactive timeline that links to primary source documents, and an overview of American history. They also have learning modules; each of which includes recommended documents, films, and historic images, and teaching resources including lesson plans, fact checks, and activities. The purpose is to give accurate historical references for both teachers and students. This is valuable, for it indicates that an extended period of time has been examined, and gives a detailed timeline of events that happened related to my question. Weathering And Erosion Of Soft Rocks Soft rocks are very important geomaterials since they are heavily used in construction for example, buildings, road and dams but they sometimes seem to cause some problems due to their sedimentary properties like fast weathering and low strength. Weathering is a process in which rock break down or dissolve with the help of natural agents. Weathering and erosion are constantly changing the earth s surface, so that has a big impact on construction and usage of soft rocks over time. Weathering can be either mechanical or chemical. Some regions in the world mainly possess weak sedimentary rocks and very low in other stronger rock like igneous or metamorphic. Because of the these weak characteristics, it might be tough to use soft rocks especially since some methods and systems are made mainly for hard rocks. These issues that we are dealing with lead to the need of the understanding of soft rocks, how they work and how to prevent them from breaking up and crumbling in order to maximize their usage. Weathering and Erosion Weathering is the process where rocks and minerals break down or dissolve into smaller pieces and fragments. Erosion is then the transportation of weathering remains. This is done with the help of natural agents such as water, wind, animals..etc. It all depends on the composition of the rock, different agents such as temperature change and rainfall amount. He shared the podium that day with Martin Luther King Jr., who would deliver his famous I Have a Dream speech during the event. Randolph and King were among the handful of civil rights leaders to meet with President John F. Kennedy after the march. The following year, for these and other civil rights efforts, Randolph was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Soon after, he founded the A. Philip Randolph Institute, an organization aimed at studying the causes of poverty. In 1966, at a White House conference, he proposed a poverty elimination program called the Freedom ... • 31. Dualism In Stephen King Aside from Shakespeare and Stevenson there are a plethora of authors who are as proficient or possibly more adept at portraying the theme of a book, play, or poem. One considerable example is Stephen King. He is an otherwise unusual author. King s books seem to depict theme in a extraordinary way. His atrocious book IT has a rather nightmarish way of illustrating plot and theme. The book, though rather monstrous and horrifying, is a great read for young adults. King does an exceptional job at representing duality in IT. The story follows the lives of seven children as they are tormented by a infernal entity that feeds off the fears and phobias of its victims to disguise itself while preying on little kids. The creature, or It predominantly appears in the form of a clown to draw its preferred prey of young children. All the while each member of the group has encountered the terrifying life forms manifestation in its various shape shifting disguises; these include a malevolent clown for Richie, a headless boy for Ben, a fountain of blood for Beverly, a diseased and rotting man known as a Leper for Eddie, a creepy painting come to life for Stan, Mike s parents burning alive, and finally an apparition of Georgie for Bill. King s main motive was to insinuate fear in the lives of kids, in his book IT. Most children, around the age of 10 12, are afraid of something.. King stated in a 2013 interview that he came up with the idea for Pennywise after asking himself what scared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Patient Dissatisfaction Of Piv Catheter Replacements Introduction In a local San Diego County hospital, on a 28 bed progressive care unit specializing in cardiac telemetry, the current protocol for replacing peripherally inserted intravenous catheter is every 72 hours or less if clinically indicated. The average daily census of patients on the unit is roughly 23 patients with an increase of 5% during the winter months. There are nearly 50,000 patients admitted annually to this unit with 47,670 discharged home. The hospital is located in Serra Mesa and serves the residents of this region as well as the surrounding area with a mean age of the patient being 52. The patients seeking care are mostly English or Spanish speaking, but represent a wide variety of cultures. The RNs on this unit are working with patients in a 4:1 ratio leading to a fast paced workflow and heavy workload for the nurses. Staff nurses on the unit expressed their frustration with the current practice regarding the frequency of PIV catheter replacements, stating that it was time consuming and contributed to patient dissatisfaction. The process of replacing a PIV can often be time consuming and may take multiple attempts in order to successfully insert a new PIV. Research supports a change in practice that address these concerns. A pilot study performed in 2012, by Rickard, Webster, Wallis, Marsh, McGrail, French and Whitby indicated that replacing PIV catheters only when clinically indicated did not lead to catheter related complications, as previously ... As they began discussing potential strategic management frameworks and tools, they came up with a short list of options: Total Quality Management (TQM), Balanced Scorecard, Lean and Six Sigma. After speaking with other non profits, health care organizations and target vendors clients, as well as researching each methodology on the internet and in best selling business books, Boo s staff prepared a white paper detailing the pros and cons of each given NMDP/Be The Match s organizational culture and capabilities, non profit business structure, employee and Board requirements, along with considering the time constraints for implementation. They decided to take a three phased approach to their selection process. Phase I was to select a process that could be easily implemented and fit the non profit business model and organizational requirements. As a result of Phase 1 analysis, the balanced scorecard was selected due to the fact that not only was it applicable to NMDP/Be The Match s business model and organizational requirements, but the balanced scorecard provides an overarching strategic framework that ... • 34. 2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes Schiff condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the formation of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV spectroscopy which is attributed to the π π* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n π* transition of C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at 411nm. The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak absorption in the visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching the light absorbing molecules. The FTIR spectrum of 2 Aminoantharquinone shows the stretching frequency for amine group around the range of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. Kamehameha s Account In The Ka Nupepa Kuokoa There are differing versions of Kamehameha I s birth. Hawaiian historian Samuel Kamakau published an account in the Ka Nupepa Kuokoa in 1867, which was widely accepted until February 10, 1911. The version written by Kamakau and held by Fornander was challenged by the oral family history of the Kaha family as published in a series of newspaper articles also appearing in the Kuoko. After the republication of the story by Kamakau to a larger English reading public in 1911 Hawaii, another version of the story was published by Kamaka Stillman, who had objected to the Nupepa article. Her version is verified by others within the Kaha family Kamehameha is considered the son of Keōua, founder of the House of Keoua, and Kekuʻiʻapoiwa II. Keōua and Kekuʻiʻapoiwa ... • 36. Book Review of Night and Dawn Essay Book Review of Night and Dawn Never shall I forget that night, the first night in the camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky. Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever. Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live. Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never. At the time he is living in the Hungarian town of Sighet. He is the only son in an Orthodox Jewish household, highly observant of Jewish tradition. Eliezer keen interest in Judaism brings him to avidly study the Cabbala, a book based on Jewish mysticism. His instruction is cut short, however, when his teacher, Moche the Beadle, is deported. Moche returns after a few months with a horrifying tale. The Gestapo, or German secret police, took charge of his train, led everybody into the woods, and systematically butchered them. Nobody believes Moche and the small town quickly takes him for a lunatic. Yet, the reality of Moche s experience becomes evident when a series of increasingly repressive measures are passed by the Nazi s who occupy Hungary in the spring of 1944. The Jews of Eliezer s town are herded onto cattle cars, commencing a nightmarish journey: after days and nights crammed into the car, exhausted and near starvation, the passengers arrive at Birkenau, the gateway to the concentration camp, Auschwitz. At Aushwitz, he and his father are separated from his mother and sisters, whom they never see again. They are then stripped, shaved, and disinfected while their captors treat them with almost unimaginable cruelty. Eventually, they are marched to a work camp, Buna, where Eliezer is put to work in an electrical fittings factory.
