Party Polarization

Latin America, 1995 2009. Latin American Research Review 51, no. 2 (April 2016): 174. MasterFILE
Premier, EBSCOhost (accessed December 12, 2016).
The research article developed an idea of party polarization being an essential factor in the
continuation and development of modern democracy. This is represented within graphic organizers of
latin american countries that carry varying levels of party polarization that affect voter belief and
direction. Singer utilized legislative surveys to find voter placement and how differentiated the chosen
party was from an ideological norm in a specific country. He also found that in poorer countries

The Pros And Cons Of The World Bank And The IMF
far from being the solution to global economic instability and poverty, these two international
institutions are a major problem. For one thing, their lending practice deters growth because the
money they loan removes incentives for governments to advance economic freedom, and breeds
corruption. For these reasons, the vast majority of recipient countries have been unable to develop
fully after depending on these institutions for over 40 years.2
Later in the same article she says that the World Bank and the IMF
create disincentives in the countries they are trying to help. Sending money to countries with
misdirected policies and weak rule of law increases the recipients debt without visible economic
growth. Nevertheless, no significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5:11). We have not done so, and as a result the evildoers continue to get away with their evil. When
we Christians obey our orders to expose the unfruitful deeds of darkness, the IMF will be exposed and
eventually defunded and ended. When the light comes on, the cockroaches scurry for dark corners.
They may escape for a little while, but the truth will hunt them out and squash them. Our pietist,
antinomian, mindlessly passive brand of Christianity once again reveals itself as impractical to deal
with challenging issues of life. But biblical Christianity light and truth will act and will rout the IMF.
None of the above excuses the politicians in companies receiving IMF loans. They are not pure
innocents, receiving unwanted money forced upon them by the IMF. The politicians saw the chance to
leech onto IMF money, a good portion of which ends up in their own pockets or in those of their
cronies. Their receipt of IMF loans indicates they did not have the best interests of their own countries
in mind. They fell to the temptation which the IMF offered. Nor does it excuse the ordinary citizens of
the countries receiving the loans! If you want to be self governed, then self govern. You hired, or
tolerated, the wretched politicians accepting money from the

The Beloved Country By Alan Paton
Family in Cry, the Beloved Country
One cannot run from hardships, for they occur every day, appear suddenly, and can quickly consume
hope. Instead one must face these difficulties and overcome them. However, to rise above obstacles
alone would only cause further misery and despair. The struggler s family should rally behind him to
comfort and assist him in his time of need. In Cry, the Beloved Country, a 1948 contemporary novel,
Alan Paton uses parallelism to emphasize the importance of family because when individuals
encounter hardships they need support from others to help them.
Primarily, tribal families encourage those who suffer with kind words and actions. Stephen Kumalo, a
man filled with pain and suffering , speaks of the hope he receives from others when he says, There is
my wife, and you, my friend, and these people who welcomed me, and the child who is so eager to be
with us here in Ndotsheni so in my suffering I can believe (261). Paton uses the parallel structure
polysyndeton to show how many people from one s family will go out of their way to lift one s spirits
and renew one s faith in God. Cry, the Beloved Country shows readers that even in difficult times one
can find family eager to provide solace to those in need. Whenever there comes trouble, one can
always count on family to rekindle lost hope.
Although family cannot entirely relieve one of misery, their presence can soothe the pain. When
Kumalo hears of his sister s sickness and must leave

The Qualities Of A Professional Team
Popular theories such as Myers Bridge personality type states that a high performing team is
comprised of both distinctly defined roles and a well rounded collection of personality archetypes. In

and how the different personalities can be a useful tool building and leading a project team. After
taking the personality test, my personality type was identified as ENFJ Extravert (26%) Intuitive

their degree of strength on how they each think and behave. Alyssa Collison, Brittany Scott and Haley
Radle were all identified of having ESFJ personality type, they are known as the provider. Alyssa,
Brittany and Haley all scored higher in extravert and feeling. Having a higher percentage in extravert

Should The Federal Government Continue Funding Planned...
Should the Federal Government continue funding Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood is an
organization that has been around since at least 1921. Recently, it has been in the limelight due to the
on going Presidential debates leading up to the 2016 election. It appears that the Republicans want to
take away all federal funding to shut down the clinics where as the democrats believe that the
republicans are misguided in their claims. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America is a non
profit organization, funded by the Federal Government, in which it provides reproductive/maternal
health services among the United States as well as internationally, since 1952. In recent news
developments, there have been rumors that Planned Parenthood practices inhumane procedures when
aborting an unborn baby to harvest their organs and that a law should be passed to stop this. The
supporters for Planned Parenthood claim that these claims are unfounded and believe that Planned
Parenthood is a wonderful association that helps women and men all around the world. This issue has
caused a series of debates that have been going on for years, but Planned Parenthood still lives on.
This current debate whether Planned Parenthood should be funded by the Federal Government is a hot
issue in the current election. It has become, not only a nationwide issue, but also worldwide where
people from all around the world are able to put in their input on the argument. There are many people

Xamarin Vs Titanium Vs PhoneGap Vs Cordova: A Comparison Xamarin Vs. Titanium Vs. PhoneGap
Vs. Cordova: A Comparison The statistics in favor of app development for eCommerce leave little
doubt that apps have become the most rapidly growing mobile technology that consumers have
embraced at all levels. Even B2B customers use apps to compare product prices, features and
important shipping options before placing orders, and social media s popularity with app users
promises to deliver extraordinary exposure to ideal potential customers. Therefore, key decision
makers in major eCommerce companies have some important decisions to make: whether to develop a
proprietary app, how to write and test it, which partner to use in the development and whether their
current eCommerce platforms can handle any ancillary issues that arise when integrating one or more
apps into regular business operations. Cross development tools have simplified writing apps for all
devices and systems, which becomes increasingly important when customers, employees and tech
support often bring their own devices to work. Xamarin offers some astonishing efficiencies for cross
development applications that appear and perform like native apps on Windows, Android and iOS
devices. Regardless of the cross development tools that programmers use, seamless integrations with
their companies systems are essential to get the most from code sharing or building native apps for the
major systems. App Statistics Keeping up

The Psychology of Serial Killers Essay
The Psychology of Serial Killers Many things today confuse, yet enthrall the masses. War, murder,
medical science, incredible rescues, all things you would see on The History Channel. There is another
topic that is also made into documentaries however, serial killers. Dark twisted people that commit
multiple murders are of interest to the population, but what caused them to be this way. What horrible
tragic set of events could twist a man to murder one or many people. Could Schizophrenia,
psychopathy, or sociopathy? Many people have researched this topic and believe that childhood
trauma, heavy drugs during the growing phase of life, as well as many other things have twisted the
minds of men such as Jeffery Dahmer, Charles Manson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The case is very different with incipient serial killers. Fixated at a shockingly primitive stage of
emotional development, they never lose their craving for cruelty and domination. Quite contrary: it
continues to grow in them like a cancer. Eventually when dogs, cats, and other small, four legged
creatures can no longer satisfy it, they turn their terrifying attentions to a larger, two legged breed:
human beings.? The author mentions the ?primitive stage of emotional development? in which the
person would be retaining that would also explain the bed wetting as one of the characteristics.
Pyromania is another clear sign when in conjunction with the triad. Fire is something that can be
controlled by a man and twisted into an idea of power. Fire for these individuals brings power and
excitement. Henry Lee Lucas, who murdered over 450 people, burned down a house near his own at
the age of six. Pyromania and animal torture/mutilation is a manifestation of the need for power that
serial killers posses and never progress past in their mental age. The triad, according to The
Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, hold evident for nearly 60% of serial killers. These characteristics may
later develop into sexual sadism, necrophilia, or other similarly disturbing social disorders. This
cookie cutter triad is a basis developed my many in the psychological

Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Bianca Barreto
Texas Tech University Abstract
In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the
opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in
language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field.
Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing screen
with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right side of the
plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the words was
recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between males and females.
In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the right side being
significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater differences between visual
fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right hemisphere is more selective in
word processing and that males are more lateralized than females. Cerebral Isolation Using Word
Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are processed by the brain. Within the
scientific community, the brain is believed to be lateralized (Tucha, Aschenbrenner, Lange, 2000). In
this case, the left hemisphere controls the right side of the body and the

Viruses, Antibiotics, And Antibiotics Essay
Diseases are humans enemies. There are million kinds of diseases among the world. Some of them
were created by ever changing human activities; some of them cause infections by microorganisms,
such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. Those tiny things are truly annoying to us when we
suffer sickness. They could even be fatal to us. If we want to cure ourselves effectively we will have to
kill them and inhibit their growth using the drugs called antibiotics . Antibiotics are great against these
infections, but they are not perfect. Pathogenic bacteria gradually evolve to survive in different
environments just like the ways all creatures do. Though we can kill most of them after using
antibiotics. A little group of them still live and become resistant to the antibiotics aimed at killing
them. They multiply their population and create stronger bacteria in order to keep on infecting us. The
bacteria s ability of fighting with antibiotics is named as antibiotic resistance .
Antibiotic resistance does not evolve frequently. However, due to the rapid social development, more
and more bizarre diseases are appearing around us. The diversity in the standards and perceptions of
living has brought us bunch of consequences, including the illogical treatments toward illness and
pharmaceutical production. Many people don t know how to use drugs correctly or refuse to do so;
some industry owners know how to properly manage their production lines but refuse to do that.

Honors American Literature
26 September 2016 Sacrifice as a Value Trade off Between Society and Individual
In any conception of the human condition, sacrifice inevitably accompanies the choices that life
presents. Yet, the definition of sacrifice is ambiguous and relies on individual interpretation: it can be
willingly trading lesser possessions for more desirable goals or forcibly relinquishing values. Despite
the distinct social contexts and time periods, Jon Krakauer s Into the Wild and Kate Chopin s The
Awakening reflect similar notions of sacrifice through their protagonists, Chris McCandless and Edna
Pontellier respectively. Chris McCandless and Edna Pontellier perceive sacrifice as a trade off

Edna becomes increasingly dissatisfied as a mother woman once she realizes that sacrifice means
choosing between an outward existence which conforms and an inward life which questions (13).
After the summer at Grand Isle, Edna begins to pursue her own interests, relieving herself of
obligations because she no longer feels content to feed upon opinion when her own soul had invited
her (94). Edna s awakening is directly caused by her perception of sacrifice. Realizing that fulfilling
social roles necessitates giving up her autonomy, Edna fights against the sacrifice that her culture
expects from women. She moves out into a pigeon house and refuses to entertain guests on reception
day, small actions which resist the social pressures threatening her personal identity. Edna consciously
destroys the facade of a traditional life for her genuine desires, noting that it is better to wake up after
all, even to suffer, rather than to remain a dupe to illusions (112). Self discovery is worth life s
delirium to Edna; the possible social repercussions and stigma are painful but necessary sacrifices.
Edna dismantles the false life she leads, and with it social benefits and status, believing that the the
suffering is preferable to sacrificing and repressing her true self. Her understanding of sacrifice as

Hester Prynne Symbolism
In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses Hester Prynne to provide an audience with ethical
lessons. Caught for committing adultery, the protagonist of the novel transforms her life through
dealing with her punishment. Using symbolism and evident themes, the author clarifies the meaning
of his work, which is to teach a moral lesson, making him a contemporary author.
In the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, Hester s society treats her like a convict for committing
adultery, as it is considered a sin. Due to this, people alienate Hester, which significantly magnifies her
shame and loneliness. By doing charitable works around the community, Hester attempts to atone and
repent for her sin of committing adultery. However, the people who benefit the most from Hester s

The NFL National Protests
In 2017 controversy struck when the NFL tried taking a stance and protesting the National Anthem. In
this protest, many NFL players one by one knelt down while the National Anthem played at their
sporting event. The National Anthem is a song for our country and symbol to represent all of the men
and women who have fought in our military. This song is not played just for our entertainment, it is to
honor the flag and what it stands for. The protesting was started by Colin Kaepernick, last season,
when he was the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He was the first player to take a knee during
the playing of the National Anthem, now many other NFL players this season are following in his path
and doing the same thing. Many players and viewers claim it is for police brutality and the injustice
that is being served, while other viewers see it as entitled millionaires disrespecting the flag and the
military. Everyone has different opinions on the issue, but no matter what the country needs to respect
one another as humans and be united; the American Flag is a symbol of our freedom and the NFL
needs to recognize the National Anthem rather than kneeling and disrespecting what it stands for. On
one side of the controversy are the people who agree with the protesting and kneeling for the National
Anthem. Both the players and viewers agree with the message they think is getting across. They are
kneeling against police brutality and the injustice they think is being served. In

Martin Luther s 95 Theses Analysis
Martin Luther wrote his 95 theses at a time when Europe was changing, over the years it had garnered
a greater sense of nationalism in part brought on by the failings of the church. It is these failings that
Luther wrote about and ultimately helped lead to the success of the Reformation (Kagen 322). Some
of the key issues that Luther raised were the indulgences and general corruption of the church (Adolph
Spaeth). The indulgences were created as a way for the Catholic church to generate revenue and they
functioned as a get out of jail (purgatory) free card. Catholics believe that the soul goes to purgatory to
be cleansed of their sins before moving on to heaven (Hollingsworth 11). Indulgences could be
purchased from the church to either absolve the living or the dead from their sins without an act of
repentance. The usual acts of repentance included prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and retreats and were
meant to absolve the person of their sins (Hampson 89). Luther believed that an important part of
being a Christian was to do charitable service over a lifetime, the ability for a person to buy their way

The indulgences were created in 1343 as a way for the church to raise money. They cited that the
church had a pool of good deed points that could essentially be doled out for a fee. In 1517 Pop Leo X
created the jubilee Indulgence to finance the rebuilding of St. Peters Basilica in Rome. This
Indulgence absolved the sinner of all outstanding sins that had been perpetrated allowing them to skip
purgatory (Kagen 324). Luther felt that the church was undermining the very foundation of
Christianity as a way to make money (Hampson 89). Luther says, Why does not the pope, whose
wealth is to day greater than the riches of the richest, build just this one church of St. Peter with his
own money, rather than with the money of poor believers? (Adolph

Examples Of Abigail Williams In The Crucible
Abigail Williams: A Despicable Person In the 17 century those who practiced the Devil s magic were
executed in Gallows Hill. In the spring of 1692, three girls by the names of Abigail Williams, Betty
Parris, and Mary Warren accused a numerous amount of Puritans with the practice of witchcraft. In
The Crucible, Abigail harms many people of Salem. Her affair with Proctor causes her to believe that
she is in love with him. She plans to get rid of her by casting a death spell, so she can have Proctor to
herself. However, when that does not work Abigail accuses Elizabeth of being a witch. Abigail
Williams is the most despicable person in The Crucible because she is revengeful, manipulative, and a
liar. Through her actions, the reader can tell that a despicable person is someone who hides the truth.

Her first lie is when her uncle, Reverend Parris, asks her what really happened in the woods the night
Betty went into the fit. Abigail claims that we did dance, uncle... And there s the whole of it (Miller 9).
This tells us that Abigail told Parris that she and the girls only danced in the woods, but as the reader
continues to read forward they will realize that Abigail was lying like a demagogue. Abigail insisted
that they only danced, yet Betty says Abigail drank a charm to kill Elizabeth. She evidently lies about
practicing witchcraft. Abigail also lies when she accuses Tituba of bewitching her. She says She sends
her spirit on me in church... She comes to me every night to go and drink blood (Miller 41). The
preceding sentence tells the reader that Abigail is lying. She is trying to protect the fact that she is the
one who was practicing witchcraft. In order to save herself from being executed she lies by accusing
others of her involvement in witchcraft. She hides the truth by telling a lie making her a despicable

Third Person Perspective Analysis
The reflection
Well it looks like this is where the third person perspective ends.
This assignment itself wasn t too hard it was just the thinking/remembering that was difficult. I
personally had trouble remembering of a few of these things and had to ask my parents to refresh my
memory just, so I could do this assignment. The third perspective way of writing this was a challenge
though, I got really messed up quite a few times and after reading a page over realizing that I had
written it in first perspective. I had decided not to use my picture on the cover but rather a turtle
because turtles are cooler than all of us. But yeah, I chose a turtle because I have always admired
turtles ever since the first time my parents took me to an aquarium.

hearing of Caesars death he started to head back to Rome, learning on the way that he was now Caesar

However, in the year 43BC after a period of unstableness in Rome, Octavian and Antony came to the

The Salem Witch Trials occurred in January of 1692 and 1693 in Salem, Massachusetts(Salem Witch

witchcraft(Salem Witch Trials). Abigail knew the consequences of the accusations would be to hang

Effects Of Automatic Word Reading And Identifying Direction
The Effects of Automatic Word Reading and Identifying Direction
Whether it is the modern day issue of texting and driving or simply studying for an exam in a noisy
room most people experience distraction every day. What people may not know is how those
distractions cause interferences when processing information; this is the underlying problem and has
been known to be tested through something called a Stroop experiment. From referencing the original
Stroop test that examined the interference of color word association to other variations using shapes,
emotions, or spatial locations, we can still learn a lot from Stroop experiments. When the stimulus
contains both the target and distraction, perceptual load increases and suggests higher interference
also. This is due to the fact more attention is brought to the target and when this is shared, it also
brings more focus to the distracter. (Lavie 2005) When referencing and building off the original
Stroop test it is important to know the original theories and ideas. In the first experiment, Stroop
(1935) used 5 different colors; purple, brown, green, blue, and red. Each individual color was written
in the 4 other colors the same amount of times. For example, the word blue would be written in the
color red and the participants had to name the color that the word was, not what it said. The subjects
were selected randomly and were shown a list of 10 words and were told to read them as fast as they
could. They first did this

The Mafia And The Mafia
original name in Italy.Mafia originated in Sicily today in Italy and Corsica in France, and refers to the
criminal organization of a local secret association.
Today, these criminal organizations are not only active in Italy. For more than 100 years (mainly in the
early 20th century), they have spread all over the world, especially on the east coast of the United
States, with the migration of Italians. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great
Depression and reached their height by the mid 20th century until a series of FBI investigations broke
down in the 1970s and 1980s. Their actions include assassinations, illegal trade and obstruction of
justice. Although their power is far behind, they still affect the trend culture of the United States.
Many movies, TV shows and even advertisements are related to their image or life.
Today, the term mafia refers not only to these Italian offenders. Affected by the organization, similar
groups of mafias, such as the Russian mafia, have emerged in other parts of the world. Sometimes
referred to as local mafia, these elements are still referred to by the daily mafia, still referring to the
group of Sicilian criminals in the United States. On the other hand, the same is Italian, but the criminal
organization located in Napoli is not called the mafia, but another name is Camorra . Mafia English

The Great Depression In Canada In The 1930 s
The Great Depression was an economic plunge that consumed the world creating poverty,
unemployment and other hardships to almost everyone who lived through the 1930 s. One
controversial question that can be asked in Canada is if the government had an adequate response to
the hardships that were faced at that time. Based on the points that are provided in my research it is
clear that the government responses were not adequate and several hardships could have been
prevented if the government had produced better ideas and responses.
The government s initial reaction was not adequate enough for the sake of the people in the
depression. A few things that were inadequate were for one, both Prime minister Bennett and William
Lyon Mackenzie King believed that it balancing Canada s budget was of a higher significance.

The Pros And Cons Of Capital Punishment
The death penalty is put into place when a person of some sort commits murder or rape or something
to an extreme extent, is lethally injected and put to death because of the crime.
To put it in perspective think about it this way, you re a thirty four year old with a spouse, and three
young children, a man the age of sixty seven brutally murders your spouse, would you want that man
to spend the rest of his life with a roof over his head and three square meals a day, or would you prefer
he be lethally injected and slowly and put to sleep? Although there are many reasons to stick with a
life sentence for criminals, there are even more reasons to implement capital punishment, or the death
penalty.
The history of the death penalty, or capital punishment dates all the way back to colonial times, when
the Europeans came to the new world. One of the first executions on record was Captain George
Kendall in 1612. Kendall was executed for being a spy for Spain.
In the mid to late 1800 s criminal began to receive a reformation sentence, which would be a twenty
five Years to life sentence. A reformation sentence is exactly as it sounds, it gave prisoners a second
chance. The reformation sentence failed because prisoners learned that they could just commit a crime
and get out on good behavior and continue the cycle. Master Sergeant Maurice L. Schick was
convicted in 1958 for the murder of a eight year old girl on a military camp in Japan. Schick was
sentenced to death, six years later

Antigone buries her brother Polynices s corpse, against the decree of Creon, the ruler. She has several

brother deserves a proper burial. Lastly, she says that she must try to bury Polynices, because it is in
her nature to act according to love and not to bear grudges.

Literary Devices In The Hunger Games And The Road
Oftentimes when reading books set in the middle of societal unrest or deterioration, we find the
characters struggling with difficult, and sometimes impossible, decisions. These types of decisions
delve into an individual s sense of humanity. At what point will their actions carry them over the line
they thought they would never cross? How do you preserve your humanity when everyone else around
you have compromised their own? In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The Road by
Cormac McCarthy the theme of preserving your humanity amidst an inhumane society is carried
throughout the narration. The argument can be made that when leaders begin crossing the line and
losing the basic humanity of protecting life, society as a whole falls in line.
There are many different literary devices that are used in writing to enhance a theme or to carry those
themes throughout a storyline. In The Hunger Games and The Road, irony is used in bringing
attention to the theme of humanity and carrying it from beginning to the end of the novels. It is used in
writing to contrast between what is expected or understood and what actually happens or is meant
(Puchner i). In The Road, McCarthy uses irony to show the difference between what we would expect
from a humane perspective and how those left have fallen so far from those expectations. One instance
of this irony occurred when the father and son observed two men and a pregnant woman traveling on
the road. Later, when these travelers were

NFL with MCI
In the article, NFL Football Players May Be More Susceptible to Alzheimer s and Dementia, the
clinical professor Christopher Randolph makes a scientific study to whether or not former professional
football players are prone to head trauma related diseases such as MCI and Alzheimer s. This study
can be proved to be valid, because the author states his theory through clinical studies comparing
different groups of people with and without a former history in a professional sport.
The main idea of this article is to determine whether NFL football players are subjects to have more
head trauma related diseases later on in life such as MCI and Alzheimer s. The purpose of this
experiment is to prove this theory to be true. Christopher Randolph executed this study by comparing
the neuropsychological test results from two groups of without a history in participating professional
sport (1) 41 demographically similar adults with no cognitive changes and (2) a clinical sample of 81
people diagnosed with MCI (Randolph). After all the testing and surveys, the results were clear;
professional athletes are more likely to have a form of MCI or Alzheimer s when they get older.

Crystallization Is A Pure Substance
The main objective in crystallization is to produce a pure substance. A chemist is able to achieve this
by isolating the pure form from the impure form, using methods of dissolving, cooling/crystallizing,
and filtration. It is also important to select the best solvent to crystallize the material; the best solvent
shows the desired solubility behavior (Pavia et al 26).
These techniques were used to produce the pure forms of sulfanilamide and fluorene. After the
filtration step in the first experiment, the pure sulfanilamide appeared to be a mix of small, white and
yellowish crystals, resembling a powder. However, sulfanilamide should have crystallized into large
needles, which indicated that either there was too little solvent or the crystals formed too quickly. As
shown on Data Table 1, the percent yield was 69%, therefore implying that the crystallization of
sulfanilamide experiment was not completely successful a lower yield will indicate purer results.
Therefore, there are still amounts of impurities in the pure sulfanilamide. Several errors throughout the
course of the experiment could have contributed to a high yield, such as not adding enough solvent to
dissolve the solute completely, or not completely separating the crystals after crystallization. By not
separating the crystals, this most likely caused the crystals to regain its yellow color; the pure
sulfanilamide should have looked white. Another possible error could have not been letting the heated

Barthelme s Not-Knowing

step by step thought process he has when beginning to write a story. He highlights different writing
styles and how they can convey the point one would be trying to make. Barthelme also allows us to
see his personal method for writing stories, addressing the necessity that is not knowing as well as
how not having a traditional plot structure ahead of writing is what calls for good, artistic pieces of
literature to be produced. He displays that his characters do not typically come with preplanned life
stories beforehand, but rather life stories that come into being at the instant it s inscribed. Another
useful piece of advice is making sure that the lifestyles one does construct for their characters lean

Supporting Moral Subjectivism
To begin, the term moral subjectivism implies that beliefs are individualized and correct for the said
individual. In essence, there is no real definitive truth that can be applied to moral sentences or beliefs.
For example, two people can have beliefs about the number 13 (or number 4 in the Chinese culture)
One highly religious person can believe it s the devil s number and will lead to murder, chaos, and
violence and for another person, possibly of a different moral code or of time period, (such as the
ancient Egyptians), it can be their lucky or spiritual number. Our text provides four reasons for
supporting moral subjectivism. These reasons include: The fact that feelings are subjective, often

Odors Memory
Sleep Supports Memory of Odors
Smells trigger memories on an emotional level. We, as humans, have a stronger emotional response to
odor triggered memories than any other sense. Smells of a perfume or a ripe banana brings back
memories of old. As for new experiences, memories consolidate in our sleep. Even though it is not
known what stage of sleep this consolidation occurs, plenty of research qualifies this idea. In the
research article Sleep Supports Memory of Odors in Adults but Not in Children, Prehn Kristensen,

Silent Differences Between American And British English Essay
Silent Differences in English that Divide American and British Spelling (Rough Draft)
Guiding Question: What is the origin of and reasoning for different word endings that have no effect
on pronunciation between American and British English?
Does one go to the theater or does one go to the theatre? Are one s eyes the color blue or the colour
blue? The answer to both of these questions will differ depending on where they are asked. In
England, the answers will most likely appear as theatre and colour respectively. However, in America,
the opposite answers would be given, but only if the questions were in written format. If these
questions were posed verbally, the answers would appear the same and no difference would be
discerned. Therefore, why is one considered correct and one considered incorrect if they are
phonetically equivalent and why do such differences exist? The answer to these questions is rooted in
the history of the language itself. Whether it is the French influence or the American Revolution,
British and American English are products of their history and culture. The evolution of phonetically
equivalent word endings in British and American English reflect political situations, language shifts,
and foreign influences while evoking historical pride on both sides that carry the differences into
present day. The move towards standardization of spelling for word endings can be seen in the
seventeenth century. The fluidity of spelling was still prevalent as shown

Latin American Research Review 51, no. 2 (April 2016): 174. MasterFILE Premier, EBSCOhost (accessed December 12, 2016). The research article developed an idea of party polarization being an essential factor in the continuation and development of modern democracy. This is represented within graphic organizers of latin american countries that carry varying levels of party polarization that affect voter belief and direction. Singer utilized legislative surveys to find voter placement and how differentiated the chosen party was from an ideological norm in a specific country. He also found that in poorer countries current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The period between the civil war and World War two were seen to carry a more centralized policy agenda between the two parties. Since World War two, the author concluded that the ideologies have split very quickly, and that is because of the lack of the Southern Democrats in this century. The author saw this as a problem, because hostility between the parties is on a continuous climb. Growing aggressiveness between the parties is negative, because the parties will have a much more difficult time coming to a conclusion on how to agree on things, in this author s ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of The World Bank And The IMF far from being the solution to global economic instability and poverty, these two international institutions are a major problem. For one thing, their lending practice deters growth because the money they loan removes incentives for governments to advance economic freedom, and breeds corruption. For these reasons, the vast majority of recipient countries have been unable to develop fully after depending on these institutions for over 40 years.2 Later in the same article she says that the World Bank and the IMF create disincentives in the countries they are trying to help. Sending money to countries with misdirected policies and weak rule of law increases the recipients debt without visible economic growth. Nevertheless, no significant ... When we Christians obey our orders to expose the unfruitful deeds of darkness, the IMF will be exposed and eventually defunded and ended. When the light comes on, the cockroaches scurry for dark corners. They may escape for a little while, but the truth will hunt them out and squash them. Our pietist, antinomian, mindlessly passive brand of Christianity once again reveals itself as impractical to deal with challenging issues of life. But biblical Christianity light and truth will act and will rout the IMF. None of the above excuses the politicians in companies receiving IMF loans. They are not pure innocents, receiving unwanted money forced upon them by the IMF. The politicians saw the chance to leech onto IMF money, a good portion of which ends up in their own pockets or in those of their cronies. Their receipt of IMF loans indicates they did not have the best interests of their own countries in mind. They fell to the temptation which the IMF offered. Nor does it excuse the ordinary citizens of the countries receiving the loans! If you want to be self governed, then self govern. • 4. The Beloved Country By Alan Paton Family in Cry, the Beloved Country One cannot run from hardships, for they occur every day, appear suddenly, and can quickly consume hope. Instead one must face these difficulties and overcome them. However, to rise above obstacles alone would only cause further misery and despair. The struggler s family should rally behind him to comfort and assist him in his time of need. In Cry, the Beloved Country, a 1948 contemporary novel, Alan Paton uses parallelism to emphasize the importance of family because when individuals encounter hardships they need support from others to help them. Primarily, tribal families encourage those who suffer with kind words and actions. Stephen Kumalo, a man filled with pain and suffering , speaks of the hope he receives from others when he says, There is my wife, and you, my friend, and these people who welcomed me, and the child who is so eager to be with us here in Ndotsheni so in my suffering I can believe (261). Paton uses the parallel structure polysyndeton to show how many people from one s family will go out of their way to lift one s spirits and renew one s faith in God. Cry, the Beloved Country shows readers that even in difficult times one can find family eager to provide solace to those in need. Whenever there comes trouble, one can always count on family to rekindle lost hope. Although family cannot entirely relieve one of misery, their presence can soothe the pain. When Kumalo hears of his sister s sickness and must leave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even B2B customers use apps to compare product prices, features and important shipping options before placing orders, and social media s popularity with app users promises to deliver extraordinary exposure to ideal potential customers. Therefore, key decision makers in major eCommerce companies have some important decisions to make: whether to develop a proprietary app, how to write and test it, which partner to use in the development and whether their current eCommerce platforms can handle any ancillary issues that arise when integrating one or more apps into regular business operations. Cross development tools have simplified writing apps for all devices and systems, which becomes increasingly important when customers, employees and tech support often bring their own devices to work. Xamarin offers some astonishing efficiencies for cross development applications that appear and perform like native apps on Windows, Android and iOS devices. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Bianca Barreto Texas Tech University Abstract In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field. Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing screen with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right side of the plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the words was recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between males and females. In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the right side being significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater differences between visual fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right hemisphere is more selective in word processing and that males are more lateralized than females. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are processed by the brain. If we want to cure ourselves effectively we will have to kill them and inhibit their growth using the drugs called antibiotics . Antibiotics are great against these infections, but they are not perfect. Pathogenic bacteria gradually evolve to survive in different environments just like the ways all creatures do. Though we can kill most of them after using antibiotics. A little group of them still live and become resistant to the antibiotics aimed at killing them. They multiply their population and create stronger bacteria in order to keep on infecting us. The bacteria s ability of fighting with antibiotics is named as antibiotic resistance . Edna s awakening is directly caused by her perception of sacrifice. Realizing that fulfilling social roles necessitates giving up her autonomy, Edna fights against the sacrifice that her culture expects from women. She moves out into a pigeon house and refuses to entertain guests on reception day, small actions which resist the social pressures threatening her personal identity. It is these failings that Luther wrote about and ultimately helped lead to the success of the Reformation (Kagen 322). Some of the key issues that Luther raised were the indulgences and general corruption of the church (Adolph Spaeth). The indulgences were created as a way for the Catholic church to generate revenue and they functioned as a get out of jail (purgatory) free card. The usual acts of repentance included prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and retreats and were meant to absolve the person of their sins (Hampson 89). • 32. Effects Of Automatic Word Reading And Identifying Direction The Effects of Automatic Word Reading and Identifying Direction Whether it is the modern day issue of texting and driving or simply studying for an exam in a noisy room most people experience distraction every day. What people may not know is how those distractions cause interferences when processing information; this is the underlying problem and has been known to be tested through something called a Stroop experiment. From referencing the original Stroop test that examined the interference of color word association to other variations using shapes, emotions, or spatial locations, we can still learn a lot from Stroop experiments. When the stimulus contains both the target and distraction, perceptual load increases and suggests higher interference also. This is due to the fact more attention is brought to the target and when this is shared, it also brings more focus to the distracter. (Lavie 2005) When referencing and building off the original Stroop test it is important to know the original theories and ideas. In the first experiment, Stroop (1935) used 5 different colors; purple, brown, green, blue, and red. Each individual color was written in the 4 other colors the same amount of times. For example, the word blue would be written in the color red and the participants had to name the color that the word was, not what it said. The subjects were selected randomly and were shown a list of 10 words and were told to read them as fast as they could. They first did this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Mafia And The Mafia original name in Italy.Mafia originated in Sicily today in Italy and Corsica in France, and refers to the criminal organization of a local secret association. Today, these criminal organizations are not only active in Italy. For more than 100 years (mainly in the early 20th century), they have spread all over the world, especially on the east coast of the United States, with the migration of Italians. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great Depression and reached their height by the mid 20th century until a series of FBI investigations broke down in the 1970s and 1980s. Their actions include assassinations, illegal trade and obstruction of justice. Although their power is far behind, they still affect the trend culture of the United States. Many movies, TV shows and even advertisements are related to their image or life. Today, the term mafia refers not only to these Italian offenders. Affected by the organization, similar groups of mafias, such as the Russian mafia, have emerged in other parts of the world. Sometimes referred to as local mafia, these elements are still referred to by the daily mafia, still referring to the group of Sicilian criminals in the United States. On the other hand, the same is Italian, but the criminal organization located in Napoli is not called the mafia, but another name is Camorra . The Great Depression In Canada In The 1930 s The Great Depression was an economic plunge that consumed the world creating poverty, unemployment and other hardships to almost everyone who lived through the 1930 s. One controversial question that can be asked in Canada is if the government had an adequate response to the hardships that were faced at that time. Based on the points that are provided in my research it is clear that the government responses were not adequate and several hardships could have been prevented if the government had produced better ideas and responses. The government s initial reaction was not adequate enough for the sake of the people in the depression. A few things that were inadequate were for one, both Prime minister Bennett and William Lyon Mackenzie King believed that it balancing Canada s budget was of a higher significance. Secondly PM king believed that unemployment was just a seasonal thing and would soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unemployment Camps were one of Bennetts ideas during the Great Depression and were great in theory but had very poor living conditions and was also very hard to qualify for and didn t cover everyone that needed it. The unemployment camps did not alleviate unemployment like Bennett had promised when he proposed the idea. The poor living conditions in the camps led to the riot towards Ottawa. PM Bennett took content from a previous idea that was created called Roosevelt s new deal and created what is known as Bennett s new deal. Although he may have thought it was beneficial to the people to produce the unemployment camps it did not alleviate unemployment but rather angered the citizens living within. If Bennett had put more resources and thought into the unemployment camps there might not have been the riot. • 35. The Pros And Cons Of Capital Punishment The death penalty is put into place when a person of some sort commits murder or rape or something to an extreme extent, is lethally injected and put to death because of the crime. To put it in perspective think about it this way, you re a thirty four year old with a spouse, and three young children, a man the age of sixty seven brutally murders your spouse, would you want that man to spend the rest of his life with a roof over his head and three square meals a day, or would you prefer he be lethally injected and slowly and put to sleep? Although there are many reasons to stick with a life sentence for criminals, there are even more reasons to implement capital punishment, or the death penalty. The history of the death penalty, or capital punishment dates all the way back to colonial times, when the Europeans came to the new world. One of the first executions on record was Captain George Kendall in 1612. Kendall was executed for being a spy for Spain. In the mid to late 1800 s criminal began to receive a reformation sentence, which would be a twenty five Years to life sentence. A reformation sentence is exactly as it sounds, it gave prisoners a second chance. The reformation sentence failed because prisoners learned that they could just commit a crime and get out on good behavior and continue the cycle. Master Sergeant Maurice L. First, she argues that Creon is unjust and she should not obey him. Second, she says that the gods are not defied by her actions, since she believes Creon is not accurately interpreting their wishes. Third, she believes that regardless of his political standing, her brother deserves a proper burial. Lastly, she says that she must try to bury Polynices, because it is in her nature to act according to love and not to bear grudges. I do not think Creon is being unjust. • 38. Literary Devices In The Hunger Games And The Road Oftentimes when reading books set in the middle of societal unrest or deterioration, we find the characters struggling with difficult, and sometimes impossible, decisions. These types of decisions delve into an individual s sense of humanity. At what point will their actions carry them over the line they thought they would never cross? How do you preserve your humanity when everyone else around you have compromised their own? In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The Road by Cormac McCarthy the theme of preserving your humanity amidst an inhumane society is carried throughout the narration. The argument can be made that when leaders begin crossing the line and losing the basic humanity of protecting life, society as a whole falls in line. There are many different literary devices that are used in writing to enhance a theme or to carry those themes throughout a storyline. In The Hunger Games and The Road, irony is used in bringing attention to the theme of humanity and carrying it from beginning to the end of the novels. It is used in writing to contrast between what is expected or understood and what actually happens or is meant (Puchner i). In The Road, McCarthy uses irony to show the difference between what we would expect from a humane perspective and how those left have fallen so far from those expectations. One instance of this irony occurred when the father and son observed two men and a pregnant woman traveling on the road. Later, when these travelers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. NFL with Mild Congnitive Impairment NFL with MCI In the article, NFL Football Players May Be More Susceptible to Alzheimer s and Dementia, the clinical professor Christopher Randolph makes a scientific study to whether or not former professional football players are prone to head trauma related diseases such as MCI and Alzheimer s. This study can be proved to be valid, because the author states his theory through clinical studies comparing different groups of people with and without a former history in a professional sport. The main idea of this article is to determine whether NFL football players are subjects to have more head trauma related diseases later on in life such as MCI and Alzheimer s. The purpose of this experiment is to prove this theory to be true. Christopher Randolph executed this study by comparing the neuropsychological test results from two groups of without a history in participating professional sport (1) 41 demographically similar adults with no cognitive changes and (2) a clinical sample of 81 people diagnosed with MCI (Randolph). After all the testing and surveys, the results were clear; professional athletes are more likely to have a form of MCI or Alzheimer s when they get older. The author of this article exhibited a scientific study by analyzing the likelihood of an American professional football player being diagnosed with a certain degree of a head trauma compared to the general population. By accomplishing this experiment the author views his theory to be true, through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Crystallization Is A Pure Substance The main objective in crystallization is to produce a pure substance. A chemist is able to achieve this by isolating the pure form from the impure form, using methods of dissolving, cooling/crystallizing, and filtration. It is also important to select the best solvent to crystallize the material; the best solvent shows the desired solubility behavior (Pavia et al 26). These techniques were used to produce the pure forms of sulfanilamide and fluorene. After the filtration step in the first experiment, the pure sulfanilamide appeared to be a mix of small, white and yellowish crystals, resembling a powder. However, sulfanilamide should have crystallized into large needles, which indicated that either there was too little solvent or the crystals formed too quickly. As shown on Data Table 1, the percent yield was 69%, therefore implying that the crystallization of sulfanilamide experiment was not completely successful a lower yield will indicate purer results. Therefore, there are still amounts of impurities in the pure sulfanilamide. Several errors throughout the course of the experiment could have contributed to a high yield, such as not adding enough solvent to dissolve the solute completely, or not completely separating the crystals after crystallization. By not separating the crystals, this most likely caused the crystals to regain its yellow color; the pure sulfanilamide should have looked white. Another possible error could have not been letting the heated solution with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barthelme s Not-Knowing In his short story, Not Knowing , Donald Barthelme brings the audience into the typical planning and step by step thought process he has when beginning to write a story. He highlights different writing styles and how they can convey the point one would be trying to make. Barthelme also allows us to see his personal method for writing stories, addressing the necessity that is not knowing as well as how not having a traditional plot structure ahead of writing is what calls for good, artistic pieces of literature to be produced. He displays that his characters do not typically come with preplanned life stories beforehand, but rather life stories that come into being at the instant it s inscribed. In essence, there is no real definitive truth that can be applied to moral sentences or beliefs. For example, two people can have beliefs about the number 13 (or number 4 in the Chinese culture) One highly religious person can believe it s the devil s number and will lead to murder, chaos, and violence and for another person, possibly of a different moral code or of time period, (such as the ancient Egyptians), it can be their lucky or spiritual number. Our text provides four reasons for supporting moral subjectivism. These reasons include: The fact that feelings are subjective, often disagreed on, and no one feeling or belief ... Smells of a perfume or a ripe banana brings back memories of old. As for new experiences, memories consolidate in our sleep. Even though it is not known what stage of sleep this consolidation occurs, plenty of research qualifies this idea. In the research article Sleep Supports Memory of Odors in Adults but Not in Children, Prehn Kristensen, Lotzkat, Bauhofer, Wiesner, and Baving put these areas of memory together and conducted a study in sleep consolidation involving the recollection of smells. • 44. Silent Differences Between American And British English Essay Silent Differences in English that Divide American and British Spelling (Rough Draft) Guiding Question: What is the origin of and reasoning for different word endings that have no effect on pronunciation between American and British English? Does one go to the theater or does one go to the theatre? Are one s eyes the color blue or the colour blue? The answer to both of these questions will differ depending on where they are asked. In England, the answers will most likely appear as theatre and colour respectively. However, in America, the opposite answers would be given, but only if the questions were in written format. If these questions were posed verbally, the answers would appear the same and no difference would be discerned. Therefore, why is one considered correct and one considered incorrect if they are phonetically equivalent and why do such differences exist? The answer to these questions is rooted in the history of the language itself. Whether it is the French influence or the American Revolution, British and American English are products of their history and culture. The evolution of phonetically equivalent word endings in British and American English reflect political situations, language shifts, and foreign influences while evoking historical pride on both sides that carry the differences into present day. The move towards standardization of spelling for word endings can be seen in the seventeenth century. The fluidity of spelling was still prevalent as shown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
