An Essay About Edm
A New Type Of Music EDM EDM is a real music. Since 1980, electronic music first appeared in
nightclub, and soon became popular. It also being highly accepted in nowadays society. Furthermore,
EDM had been widely used in many singer songs, for instance, Not today , a song from a Korea s boy
band, also a famous song let me love you , which made by both DJ Snake and Jutin Bieber. EDM is
not just a club music. However, cause the electronic music doesn t involve any instrument, some
critics oppose the idea that EDM is a genre of music. The argument about EDM has been sustained for
a long time, it s time for those rigid people accept the new technology. EDM doesn t really mean
electronic dance music. ( ) I saw this sentence in a justification article for EDM. ... Show more content

As a popular music in nowadays, EDM doesn t involve any instrument in it. In people s common
sense, musics are all create with instruments, can EDM also count as a music, which break up the
tradition. The definition for music shouldn t be that confined. In the ancient time, there s no
instrument , people knocked desks, bowls, bows as the beats for their songs. With time elapsing,
instrument been created, and defined as instrument. Let s say instrument is a thing which give people
beats and complete the song. As well as electronic device also can give people beats and complete
songs, electronic dance music can also be a music. I had read a article about whether EDM can be a
genre music. In this article, author mentioned a important idea that who or which group of people can
decided the genre of music. In my opinion, no one can decided it. Music is a thing about emotion,
everyone have different emotion. We can t say somebody s emotion is wrong. The things is, when we
heard a song, a group of people may have the same felling about it, they may like it and become fans,
they may not like it, then just skip it and find another song they like. We have no right to deny

Substance Abuse And Addiction
Based on our readings and my understanding some of the cause(s) of substance abuse and addiction
have many factors that can play a key role. For example our text book points out that some people
want to escape their reality, or numb their emotional pain. It can also be social pressure from peers or
our own upbringing (Doweiko 2015). I believe we as a society should look at the individual and not
just the problem. Looking at ones soul and finding the root cause why the person abuses or has
become addicted to a substance or substances is a very important start of the journey of sobriety. We
cannot brush off the fact somewhere the soul lacks something that the substance is fulfilling or once
had fulfilled for that person. We read about Gods love

Tragic Comedy In Catch-22
You can t stop flying unless you re crazy; you cannot not stop flying if you re sane; and the only
people who want to fly are crazy. This absurd logic, hilarious at first, is the root of Catch 22, and is but
one such absurd joke among many in the book. In Catch 22, Joseph Heller employs comedy to
illustrate how initially comical characteristics can, when pulled to the extremes, lead people to enact
cruelties. Many of the most memorable moments of Catch 22 are indisputably hilarious. One such
example is Colonel Cathcart, an indecisive squadron leader obsessed with his own self image. Plagued
by constant doubts about his every choice, Colonel Cathcart oscillates rapidly and randomly between
relying on his subordinate Colonel Korn for advice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In retrospect, Colonel Cathcart s blatant goalpost manipulation isn t funny anymore once you consider
that all the deaths it causes had no other reason than pointless posturing. In fact, upon seeing its
results, his actions are sickening. When has it ever been funny to give soldiers hope of returning home
just to snatch it away? Why were we laughing at this tragedy? The darker implications of Cathcart s
actions reflect twistedly on the humor of those first scenes. These cherished, humorous moments of
the book cannot be laughed at anymore without a sense of unease. This evolution of scenes is
especially clear with the novel s name. The Catch 22 in the beginning is but a series of elaborate and
absurd paradoxes. Yossarian cannot go home until he reaches the required number of missions, but the
required number of missions always increases. It s impossible to enter Major Major s office if he s in
it, but you can talk to him in his office when he s not in the office. The initial uses of Catch 22 is that
of a comedic device that revels in the absurdity of the world. Our ability to twist logic for our own
means entertains us in the novelty of what can result from it. As the book draws to a close, however,
Catch 22 starts being used with a distinctively different connotation, shown when Yossarian escapes to
Rome. There, upon entering the

Walden Rhetorical Analysis
We can t live without nature. It s our home and way of life. Henry David Thoreau wrote a piece about
Walden Pond in the springtime. Thoreau discusses how nature has so much to offer. His use of
anaphora, diction, and imagery helps to show not only his love for nature, but the impact it has on us.
One device he uses to come across to the reader is anaphora. His love of nature was clear and he had
an eye for detail. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most ethereal flight I had
ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was almost too perfect for this
world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was thy sing? O Grave, where was
thy victory, then? Thoreau is leaving the reader wondering with these questions. Thoreau is
questioning nature now. When he goes in depth with anaphora it makes you think: why does nature
leave a sting? Why is death apart of this world? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diction is the author s choice of style to He wants the reader to understand more about nature.
Thoreau claimed, At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that
all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be infinitely wild, and unfathomed by us
because unfathomable. This discusses the author s purpose because he wants us to understand there is
so much more to learn. If we never explore we never grow. Thoreau also uses poetic diction like, We
need the tonic of wildness. This diction also tells us nature is it s own medicine. Without nature or
sunlight we wouldn t

Refusal to Return: Finding Bliss at Upton Although Tom Jones by Henry Fielding is appropriately
known as a comic novel written to no set of absolute rules, the work shows many characteristics
similar to epics. In epic novels the main protagonist is normally known for following a set series of
events called the hero s journey. The hero s journey is often a three part adventure consisting of a
departure, an initiation, and a return, through which the protagonist learns much about their strengths
and weaknesses having departed from their world to another. In the new world they face challenges,
enemies, and temptations that usually lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being cast out by Mr. Allworthy and having no hope of being with Sophia, Tom decides to leave his
home and set out for Bristol. The speaker if the novel remarks ...we left Mr. Jones...on his Road to
Bristol; being determined to seek his Fortune at Sea; or rather, indeed, to fly away from his Fortune o
Shore (234). These unfortunate events led to Tom s call to adventure and puts him on the road that
leads him to the inn at the town of Upton as well as to a state of mind that insulates him from any call
to return to his previous world. In the traditional epic the call to adventure is normally tied to the
reason the hero needs to return. During his time in his new world before he arrives at Upton, Tom
befriends Benjamin Partridge, who is actually also a cause of Tom s going to Upton. According to the
epic hero s journey, Benjamin is considered part of the second step known as tests, friends, and
enemies. He is for the most part a good friend to Tom throughout the series of events in the novel.
When Tom sets out at his first stop prior to Upton, he decides to join the army and meets Benjamin
Partridge when he needs both a haircut and a wound tended. Tom finds fellowship with Benjamin and
leaves the army to go with Partridge in another pursuit which leads him to Upton where he goes

Swot Analysis Of Boeing Bell Telephone
SWOT Analysis The SWOT analysis is a tool used for strategic planning. SWOT stands for strengths,
weaknesses, opportunity and threats. It is an internal analysis of a firm s strengths and weaknesses and
an external analysis of threats and opportunities. A firm s strengths and weaknesses in the organization
are what will determine if a condition in the external environment is a threat or opportunity. In this
paper, I will write a SWOT analysis on Cincinnati Bell Telephone. Internal Environment Analysis The
internal analysis is based on factors inside the company that the company has some control over. A
company s resources, capabilities, and core competencies are the foundation of competitive advantage.
The firm combines individual tangible and intangible resources to create capabilities. In turn,
capabilities are used to complete the organizational tasks required to produce, distribute, and service
the goods or services the firm provides to customers for the purpose of creating value for them (Hitt,
et al., 2013). Strengths: The following strengths are attributes that enhance Cincinnati Bell s
competitive advantage. Cincinnati Bell Telephone was the first telephone company in their service
area and has been in existence for over 140 years. The brand name Cincinnati Bell is both well known

Cardiac Arrests Of Children, And Opening The Reality Of...
Abstract Almost everyone who works in EMS has this one thing in common, the fear of the pediatric
call. Due to those calls being few and far between, the skills needed for a pediatric call are rarely at
their best. There are also some who don t keep their pediatric skills as sharp as others, because of the
low amount of calls they might run on kids. This paper will be focusing on cardiac arrests in children,
and opening the reality of how common it is becoming. Everything from what causes it, what is the
most common cause, and the unexplainable. The what s, how s and whys are all questions that we will
be expected to know. There is so much that goes into these patients, physically and mentally. Knowing
these things and understanding how to handle these situations is just as important as knowing the
information for a registry test. In almost most of these incidents the family doesn t care how much you
know, they care about how much you care. Cardiac Arrests in Children We have heard it more than
once, the high school football player who has never had a health issue in his life, playing on a chilly,
friday night, collapses in the middle of the game. The player dies instantly. What was the cause, why
did it happen, and how can it be prevented are all common questions that friends, family and the
strangers that share the story on facebook, are all asking. As an autopsy is finished it is concluded that
the young athlete died of a heart abnormality that was never

Gout Prevention
Discussion
After mentioning the risk factors, causes and dietary recommendations, it may seem strange for
normal individals to consider gout prevention. However, prevention of gout should not to be
neglected, especially for male and postmensual women, as they are also the high risk group for
develpoing gouty arthritis.
Prevalence of gout in male is the double of that in female.3,11 The age specific and sex specific
incidence of gout in the UK in 2012 is shown in Figure 3 below.
Figure 3. Age specific and sex specific incidence of gout in the UK in 2012

After menopause, the effect of estrogen is lifted and the risk of hyperuricemia increases rapidly,
leading to the increase in gout incidence in women. In contrast, low estrogen level in male do not
provide them with the protective effect, resulting in the higher incidence of hyperuricemia and gout.
Therefore, man and postmenopausual women is suggested to prevent hyperuricemia by adopting
healthy lifestyle. Apart from following the dietary recommendations stated above, adopting low fat
and low salt diet and mantaining normal weight by regualr physical exercise could prevent Metabolic
syndrome, a risk factor of gout.
Conclusion
This passage addresses some risk factors of gouty arthritis and discussed dietary recommendations for
different groups to prevent developing or worsening of gout. Overall, hyperuricemia and gout patients
should adhere to the treatment regimen provided by medical professionals and follow the dietary
recommendations suggested, aiming to reduce sUA by medications and lifestyle changes so as to
prevent gout attack. High risk group, such as man and postmenopausal women, should take actions to

Lack Of Funding For Presidential Elections
With the upcoming presidential election, it has been interesting to learn about things as they are
actually happening in our country today. Among the many issues that surround the race to the office,
financing the presidential election seems to be a major topic that is always in the public eye. There are
many different views on how the election should be financed but it is hard to tell how far government
funding and donations can go before democracy is left behind.
After President Nixon and the Watergate controversy in 1971, the United States began to put limits on
how much a candidate could receive and spend within a campaign. In order to enforce fairness
between candidates, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than government providing millions of dollars for the campaign and putting harsh restricts on
individual donations, I believe that the limits should not be put on the American people but on the
candidates themselves. Spending on the campaign has gotten out of control within the last decade.
Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spend on mobile campaigns, advertisements, and media
exposure. This funding could easily go towards other areas of society, benefiting the very people that
the candidates wish to govern. Rather than directing negative attention, I believe that candidates
should reach out to the public to gain support. Campaigning for presidency should not be about
winning or who raises the most money. Presidency should be about protecting and caring for the
American people. The conduct of campaigns should be monitored in order to limit spending and to
prevent negative advertising towards opposite candidates.
Candidates running for office should depend less on government funding and turn towards the public
for their support. Rather then concerning ourselves with prohibiting the use of soft money we should
control the amount of taxpayers dollars that are being spent. How can we claim that the use of soft
money goes against Democracy when we allow our government to fund

Burke And Anna s Life In Hungary
Life in Hungary
Living in Europe was a dream of Burke and Anna s. An opportunity in 2011 to teach young children in
Hungary to speak English was just what they needed to pack their bags and move to Hungary for 6
months. They became volunteer teachers for local schools in Hungary. Burke and Anna taught
children of all different ages.
They stayed in the city of Szeged, Hungary. The apartment they were living in was very large and
inexpensive for the size of the apartment, however it was very outdated. Living in Hungary was a very
different experience for Burke and Anna. For example, they were perplexed when they found that the

I asked them if they met anyone special in there time spent in Hungary. They responded by telling me
a story about a boy named Norby. Norby was one of the young children they taught. While learning
English Norby could be described as Tigger, always excited and having so much to say. His dream
was to work for the Peace Corps and he knew he needed to be a great English speaker to do so.
according to Burke and Anna. Norby would talk to Burke and Anna as much as possible. One time he
even invited them to dinner at his house. Burke and Anna gladly agreed to to have dinner with Norby
and his family. Something they learned about Norby was he was the only one in his family that spoke
English. We did our best to communicate with them and, by the end, we were all laughing and having
a great time together, even though we couldn t actually speak the same language. It is one of our
favorite memories from our time there. Burke and Anna said. It is important when traveling the world
to meet new people. Meeting new people especially in a different country can open your eyes to lots
of new experiences and you can also learn so many new things.
Burke and Anna experienced so many special moments during their 6 month stay in Hungary. One in
particular moment that stood out to them is a time to a Hungarian dog show. One of the teachers from
their school had a dog competing. In Hungary they have so many dog breeds that Burke and Anna
never heard of before. They had so much fun and saw super cute dogs. That was one of Burke and

Origins And Influence Of Automobiles
Origins and Influence of Automobiles in the Early 1900s
Sean Francis
AP United States History Mr. Ehrie June 5, 2015
Throughout history, engineers and scientists have achieved breakthroughs that allow the invention of
the world s most influential products to come into existence. Johannes Gutenberg s printing press of
the fifteenth century allowed for books to be printed, copied, and spread as seen never before. The
introduction of the Bessemer process by Andrew Carnegie in steel manufacturing brought about the
construction of modern cities. Thomas Edison s electric light of the 1800s lit up a world previously
reliant on the light of daylight and candles. Innovations such as these are remembered for the same
reason, which is that society and the way in which we live in it is still affected to this day by them.
Following the victory by Americans of securing independence and sovereignty for Great Britain, the
nation became a political, economic, and military, and scientific powerhouse within a very short time.
By the late nineteenth century, a new marvel had appeared across the Atlantic in Europe: the
automobile. Though transportation such as trains or steamboats had been widely available since the
early 1800s, the automobile would allow people to trade in their horse drawn carriages. In the late
1800s to early 1900s when the invention of the car made it across the Atlantic, a monumental change

Evaluate how well the company has addressed these two (2) forces in the recent past.
The degree of rivalry among established companies within eBay industry is very high. This high
degree of rivalry is very common in discount retail industry due to the high concentration on being the
price leader. EBay competition is very broad and varies with each of its different products. eBay
competes closely with many well know broad based companies such as traditional department and
general merchandise stores, as well as a large variety of online retailers. Due to this complex
competitive industry, eBay must concentrate on many competitive factors such as: ability to attract
buyers, volume of transactions and selection of goods, customer service, system reliability, brand
recognition, and many others to keep their edge.
The bargaining power of buyers is low because the seller sets the prices of the products and because a
majority of the sales are in an auction platform. This gives eBay and the buyer less control of the
products prices, but in most cases the large amount of sellers per product keeps the prices low and
competitive. The buyers benefit from the competition of the sellers, convenience of a trade
environment, and not on the power of price bargaining.
The bargaining power of suppliers is relatively high because eBay must keep its fees and commissions
low in order to attract and keep loyal sellers. Sellers are the suppliers of the products and are able to

Bedouins In The Arabian Peninsula
Between 200 to 800 CE, the Arabian Peninsula went through drastic changes over time in a time
period of 6 centuries. People from the Arabian Peninsula started to convert to Islam from Animist
Polytheist. The main focus of these 2 time periods were based heavily on religion and the status of
women increasing then suddenly deteriorating following Prophet Muhammad s death in 632.
In 200 CE, The majority of the Arabian Peninsula was Animist Polytheist, people who believed in
nature spirits. The social structure of the Bedouins in the Arabian peninsula were tribal clans. Their
structure is based upon a kinship and the leader of family is part of a bigger social structure consisting
of councils and elders. Women also had a high status in comparison to the other empires, as their
advice was also considered valuable. Many of the Bedouins who lived in Arabian Peninsula carved
and worshipped idols whom they believed to be intermediary to the almighty Gods. Arab polytheism,
the dominant form in pre Islamic Arabia was based on veneration of deities and other rituals. The

on a lot of sectors in many ways. However, it is expected that especially sports industry which has

Because of this, Manchester City cannot spend as much money on signing foreign talent as these
players will face difficulty to work in the UK, meaning the club can instead invest the money that they
would have spent on players in their youth academy. Home grown players could benefit from a Brexit
(Slater 2016). Appendix 1 shows that Manchester City is in the bottom 4 of the Premier League for a
number of British players used by the club, so to switch from buying players abroad to investing into
the youth academy means that it is a positive for Manchester City as it will make it a more traditional
British club. What this does for Manchester City is inherit the squad to become more of a Manchester
like club as they can focus on bringing up home grown players from their youth academy meaning
there will be an increase in the amount of British players in the club as at the moment there are only 4
British players within the 24 men first team of Manchester City. What this also does for Manchester
City is help the economic situation they face themselves with as for example a player who recently has

of £2,236 however a player such as Yaya Toure has a weekly salary worth £220,000. (in text citations

American blacks are the unfortunate end product of an enforced breeding process that has left them at

These days, a college degree serves as one of the few tickets into a socially and economically
comfortable lifestyle. College itself, ideally, should vastly increase the knowledge, skills, and capacity
for critical thinking in its students. However, in this racially imbalanced society, college is the
culmination of a white weighted education, and often ignores its own participation in long standing
racial injustices and inequities. Minority students are expected to jump headlong into white standards
of behavior, without regard for the unique circumstances that render that expectation difficult, if not
impossible, to meet.
My schooling gave me no training in seeing myself as an oppressor, as an unfairly advantaged person,

thought she stated that aging is simply advancing in age. Upon further questioning she explained that
her definition is a view of the total process of aging. She does not define aging in a biological,
functional, psychological, sociologic or spiritual domain. #61623; What are you key accomplishments
(e.g., active in specific areas, social contributions, volunteer activities, and unique or adventurous
activities)? Maxine explained that what she considers her key accomplishments are not actions which
society typically views as dramatic. Her most notable accomplishment is living to be seventy two
years old. Once we acknowledged her age, she began to detail her almost life long connection with her
church and subsequent Christian community. She stressed that she has been an active, almost lifelong
member of this Christian community for the last fifty four years. During a humorous moment she
acknowledged that she

From Living on the Prairie to Designing Prairie Style...
From Living on the Prairie, to designing Prairie Style Houses When people think prairie style, they
associate it with Frank Lloyd Wright. But why? Frank Lloyd Wright was a famous 19th and 20th
century architect that shaped the style of houses, as we know them today. Although he grew up in a
small town, it didn t hold him back as a successful man. Frank Lloyd Wright is, and will continue to
be, the world s best architect because from the time he was little, to the times he traveled across the
world, he found inspiration in nature all around him. Growing up, Frank Lloyd Wright was inspired
very easily. He was born on June 8th, 1867 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, to the proud parents of
Anna Lloyd Jones and William Carey Wright. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He worked with two companies, before he was hired by Adler and Sullivan. Adler and Sullivan had
started off as two separate architects, but in 1880 they joined forces and created their own firm. Frank
Lloyd Wright signed a six year contract with Adler and Sullivan, as one of their apprentices. Frank
was finally getting back on his feet again.
Frank Lloyd Wright started putting pieces of his life together at this point. He was a man that knew
exactly what he wanted, and how to get to that goal. In 1889, Frank Lloyd Wright married Catherine
Lee Tobin (Rubin, 1994). Tobin and Wright met while he was working for Adler and Sullivan, causing
Anna to object. Frank Lloyd Wright signed a five year contract in return for all of the supplies he
needed. Shortly after negotiating the contract, he bought a lot in Oak Park, Illinois, where he built his
first house. His house reflected the subtleness of prairie style. His house consisted of east coast
shingles, roof gable, and geometric shapes. In this house he raised six children; John Lloyd Wright,
Lloyd Wright, Catherine Baxter, Svetlana Milanoff, Iovanna Wright, David Wright, Catherine Wright,
and Frances Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright saw prices rising, so he decided to accept private residential
commission in Oak Park. When Sullivan found out in 1893, he charged him for breaking the contract.
Wright s first commission was William H. Winslow. Frank added very few aspects of the prairie into

Elizabethan Music
Music During The Elizabethan Era
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First (1558 1603), English art and culture reached a high
point known as the top of the English renaissance. Elizabethan music experienced a change in
popularity from sacred to non religious music and the rise of instrumental music. Experienced
musicians were hired by the Church of England, the wealthy, and rising middle class. Queen Elizabeth
I greatly enjoyed music and played the lute and virginal herself. She also believed that dancing was a
great form of physical activity and hired musicians to play for her while she danced. While she was
queen, she employed about 70 musicians and her interests were to be adopted by those she ruled over.

They were equal to a modern town s band. The role of the Waits was to perform at public events that
would be viewed by the town and were supposed to play original composed music.
Street musicians or travelling minstrels were frowned upon. They were often feared by the community
and grew out of style when they were replaced by tavern and theatre musicians. Street music was
often heard at markets and fairs, and was usually light and quick. They performed using instruments
such as fiddles, lutes, recorders, and small percussion instruments gathering crowds when they played.
According to elizabethan era.org.uk/elizabethan music, the songs they played and sang were
traditional favorites, a far cry of the sophisticated and refined music of the Elizabethan court .
Due to the increasing popularity of music, theater became popular itself. Location was very important
to a theater musician, as the location gave different effects to the sound produced. This could create
the illusion of distance or providing an atmosphere to the plays and performances. With the rise of
William Shakespeare in 1556, theater music became even more popular.
Composers Many composers of the Elizabethan period are still known today. William Byrd (1539
1623) is one of which and is considered by many to be one of the greatest of the Elizabethan
composers. He was the main composer of religious music and many of his songs still

Theory Of Moral Development In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
Jem s Analysis
Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development reflects on the idea that people s decisions are based on
how they process the importance of a situation. According to his theory, there are three stages of moral
development: preconventional, conventional, and postconventional. Each level is based on how a
person s reflects to making a moral decision. In each level there are two stages on how their level of
sophistication affected their way of thinking.
The book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is an example of moral development because as the
book progresses the reader can tell how Jem finds himself having to make moral decisions. Although
the book is narrated by Scout (Jem s younger sister) the reader can see that Jem changes his way of
thinking as the situations that occur makes him think a certain way. Jem has to experience and observe
situations that make him question his way of seeing the world around him. Jem begins the moral
development at conventional because in the beginning of the book Jem is more worried about winning
the approval of his friends and showing his bravery.
The first stage in Kohlberg s Moral Development is called Preconventional and that is when a person
is more worried about the reward and the punishment that comes with a certain situation (powerpoint).
When a person is at this stage they are more worried about what would happen to them than to the
people around them. A child who is at this stage has not yet adapted to the society s

The texts to be examined in this assignment are all from the Fantasy Fiction Genre and will cover Key
Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 as these are both relevant to those covered within lectures. We will begin
with Key Stage 2 and The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien looking for examples as to why this would be
considered Key Stage Two. The same process will be followed with The Silmarillion by the same
author for Key Stage 3. Once the key stages have been confirmed for each piece of literature we can
then begin to compare the texts and determine what elements of each make them unsuitable for
classification into alternative key stages. The results of such a comparison may show some unexpected
and interesting results when taking the series as a whole and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is now listed as Key Stage 2 and for the purposes of this assignment we shall be examining the piece
with this level in mind. It is essentially a simple story of a Hobbit who reluctantly undertakes a great
adventure with a band of dwarves and a wizard to assist in the regaining of treasure lost to a dragon in
times gone by. However, the trials faced during this journey and it s descriptive manner mean that the
book is far from simple at times and it would be fair to assume that this would place it at the higher
end of Key Stage 2 readership, perhaps aged 10 to 11 as it is commonly accepted that children read
books typically written approximately 2 years older than their own age. Using Christopher Booker s
theory of The Seven Basic Plots and taking each of the seven individually we see many examples of

The Circle Eggers
Circle by Dave Eggers
Introduction
The Circle is an American novel that was written by Dave Eggers and was published in the year 2013.
It is a book of fiction and is the author s tenth publication (Eggers 12). The novel is about a lady by
the name Mae Holland who is employed by an internet company that is flourishing well and has high
rewards. However, with time and as she continues to work there systems and things begin to fall apart
and the success story begins to diminish (Eggers 19). The major theme of the book is the ability to
handle and manage the right to independence and self governance of understanding and elucidation
over a person s life in the future (Eggers 49).
Text to self The novel the circle is a depiction of the day to day life of an individual. From the
incidence of how Mae got a job to the rest of the scenes in the book show a person having a daily
routine of life (Eggers 112). However, it is important to note that the book is a string of ideas that
mainly concern the social edifice and deconstruction of privacy. Privacy can either be termed to be
personal or corporate but has effects to either of them. This therefore means that something that is held
to be private can be explained to be that which is disclosed. For instance the fact Mae kept her health
condition to be private had its own repercussions (Eggers 199). Therefore, as human beings, we ought
to live an open life and not everything can be termed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several similarities between the circle by Dave Eggers and You are not a gadget by Jaron

and also spells out the dangers of living online and the impossibility of measuring

How Did The Soviet Union Develop A Command Economy
The industrial expansion of the Soviet Union resulted in one of the greatest economic growths for a
single country that the modern world has ever seen. This economic growth ultimately led to the USSR
becoming one of the world s only two superpowers in the post WWII era. Much of the country s
economic growth occurred because of the USSR s use of a command economy, which is an economy
in which production, investment, prices, and incomes are determined centrally by a government [1].
Using a command economy, the USSR was able to force industrialization in certain sectors in which
pre Soviet Russia highly struggled. One of these sectors was the Nuclear Power sector. Ultimately,
Soviet successes in the nuclear power industry were highly evident ... Show more content on

the discovery of their failure to speak up lead to the questioning of Soviet leadership [5]. Additionally,
these issues became worse upon the discovery of KGB classified documents that discussed various
issues with the construction of the Chernobyl plant between 1971 and 1988 [7]. These compounding

The Old Testament Research Paper
Love is very prevalent throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Some can say it has evolved,
while others say it has only strengthened to be greater love for God s people. In the Old Testament,
there are around 12 various Hebrew words meant to recognize love. Each word also has its own
meaning for the context of which it is used. Romantic love as is used as one of them. A prime example
includes Jacob and Laban. Jacob desired to marry Rachel because of her beauty and requested to work
for Laban for seven years in order to obtain her hand in marriage (Genesis 29). This is a prime
example of romantic love. Even though he loved Rachel, Laban required that he marry Leah first
because she is the oldest. That being said, Jacob did what he had ... Show more content on

The exposure of love is used in the Greek word Agape (Sakenfeld, 2006). Agapao is the verb form of
the noun agape . The word is distinctive in this framework because it appears to have been basically
created by the Christian church because it does not appear in classical Greek at all (Wuest, 1997. The
New Testament constantly expresses the love that God has for humans. If it were not for this love,
things would not be the way that they are today. The term also comprises the conception of
unrestricted love. The writings of the New Testament stood to strengthen the idea of love from the Old
Testament. It was always understood that man might and more than likely would die for God. But the
idea that God would die for man seemed to be unprecedented and unheard of in the name of love.
Love throughout both testaments is something that did evolve, but in a stronger sense of the world. It
was always going to exist, but how it was spoken about in the New Testament was built on the strong
foundation of the Old

Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder Research Paper
Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is part of many veteran s lives in the U.S. today. PTSD is a
serious mental and emotional disorder that people often don t understand or don t know about. It s
defined as a mental illness that develops after a person has lived through a traumatizing event, such as
sexual assault, physical abuse, threat of death, or serious injury. Most people who experience a
distressing event don t develop PTSD, but for those who do, it s extremely terrifying to go through.
Many U.S. veterans have to deal with serious emotional and mental trauma after their time of fighting
is over. There aren t any statistics that show exactly how many people and veterans in the U.S. have
PTSD, because most veterans don t know they have a mental disorder. They don t seek help; therefore
statistics aren t certain. Studies have shown that at least 70% of adults have gone through a traumatic
event, and 20% of those people develop PTSD. That s approximately 31.3 million people. Further
investigation confirms that women are more likely to develop the illness than men are; approximately
1 out of 10 women will or have had PTSD. Combat veterans are even more likely to be diagnosed
with PTSD after returning from the military, and an estimated study says that one out of every five
veterans have or will develop the disorder. The military consists of 17% women, and 71% of those
women develop PTSD from sexual assault within the ranks. These are studies and estimates

The Scarlet Letter, By Nathanial Hawthorne
Envisage living in a community where one could only be intimate with their husband. Sounds insane,
right? Though being sexually active with more than one partner in a lifetime is moderately common in
today s society, it was severely looked down upon in the 1800s. In The Scarlet Letter, Nathanial
Hawthorne communicates the story of Hester Prynne, an adulteress. Hester Prynne lived in a Puritan
Society in which women were held to high, difficult, and unjust standards by men. Evidently, she
undergoes unusual punishments for her infidelities against her estranged husband. She forcibly wears
an embroidered, scarlet letter A on her breast for the remainder of her life. Though physically benign,
its call of attention to Hester s transgression is emotionally straining. As a man or woman, adultery
must always be perceived as improper and unlawful. However, the author exhibits transcendentalist
values when one can conclude that Hawthorne s words were not demeaning Hester, but more so
commending her. His execution of rhetorical devices applauds Hester s individuality in a conforming
society. Through the author s implementation of diction to illuminate Hester and debase the rest of
society, manipulation of symbolism to compliment Hester s individuality, and application of irony to
manifest Hester s gained dignity from rebelling, Hawthorne illustrates Hester s journey in a culture
against change as one of dauntlessness, and conveys his purpose that individuality is precious.

The Physics Of American Football
The Physics of American Football In America, sports are an important part of the culture. People
watch them for pure fun and entertain or because they simply love the game. American sports such as
football all have some aspect of physics that are tied into the sport. Football is not just simply
throwing a ball to a wide receiver or kicking a field goal for an extra point. There are ways in which
players, from Pop Warner to professional players alike, play the game that may look simple from a
television screen or from a stadium seat. Newton s laws of motion can be applied to many aspects in
the game of football. By learning the physics of football, a fan can become an expert on this
seemingly simple sport. To begin, explaining how the game of football works, will help any reader
understand why knowing the physics can be important. According to James Adler, from about.com,
Football is a sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts on each
end. The offense, or the team with control of the ball, attempts to advance the ball downfield by
running or passing the ball, while the opposing team aims to stop their advance and take control of the
ball themselves. (Adler) The main objective of the game is have to most points by the end of four 12
minute quarters. To score, the quarterback tries to advance the ball up the field to score as many
touchdowns, or field goals as possible, while holding the other team to as few as possible (Adler).

It also being highly accepted in nowadays society. Furthermore, EDM had been widely used in many singer songs, for instance, Not today , a song from a Korea s boy band, also a famous song let me love you , which made by both DJ Snake and Jutin Bieber. EDM is not just a club music. However, cause the electronic music doesn t involve any instrument, some critics oppose the idea that EDM is a genre of music. The argument about EDM has been sustained for a long time, it s time for those rigid people accept the new technology. EDM doesn t really mean electronic dance music. In people s common sense, musics are all create with instruments, can EDM also count as a music, which break up the tradition. The definition for music shouldn t be that confined. In the ancient time, there s no instrument , people knocked desks, bowls, bows as the beats for their songs. With time elapsing, instrument been created, and defined as instrument. Let s say instrument is a thing which give people beats and complete the song. As well as electronic device also can give people beats and complete songs, electronic dance music can also be a music. I had read a article about whether EDM can be a genre music. In this article, author mentioned a important idea that who or which group of people can decided the genre of music. In my opinion, no one can decided it. Music is a thing about emotion, everyone have different emotion. We can t say somebody s emotion is wrong. The things is, when we heard a song, a group of people may have the same felling about it, they may like it and become fans, they may not like it, then just skip it and find another song they like. • 4. Substance Abuse And Addiction Based on our readings and my understanding some of the cause(s) of substance abuse and addiction have many factors that can play a key role. For example our text book points out that some people want to escape their reality, or numb their emotional pain. It can also be social pressure from peers or our own upbringing (Doweiko 2015). I believe we as a society should look at the individual and not just the problem. Looking at ones soul and finding the root cause why the person abuses or has become addicted to a substance or substances is a very important start of the journey of sobriety. We cannot brush off the fact somewhere the soul lacks something that the substance is fulfilling or once had fulfilled for that person. We read about Gods love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Tragic Comedy In Catch-22 You can t stop flying unless you re crazy; you cannot not stop flying if you re sane; and the only people who want to fly are crazy. This absurd logic, hilarious at first, is the root of Catch 22, and is but one such absurd joke among many in the book. In Catch 22, Joseph Heller employs comedy to illustrate how initially comical characteristics can, when pulled to the extremes, lead people to enact cruelties. Many of the most memorable moments of Catch 22 are indisputably hilarious. One such example is Colonel Cathcart, an indecisive squadron leader obsessed with his own self image. Plagued by constant doubts about his every choice, Colonel Cathcart oscillates rapidly and randomly between relying on his subordinate Colonel Korn for advice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In retrospect, Colonel Cathcart s blatant goalpost manipulation isn t funny anymore once you consider that all the deaths it causes had no other reason than pointless posturing. In fact, upon seeing its results, his actions are sickening. When has it ever been funny to give soldiers hope of returning home just to snatch it away? Why were we laughing at this tragedy? The darker implications of Cathcart s actions reflect twistedly on the humor of those first scenes. These cherished, humorous moments of the book cannot be laughed at anymore without a sense of unease. This evolution of scenes is especially clear with the novel s name. The Catch 22 in the beginning is but a series of elaborate and absurd paradoxes. Yossarian cannot go home until he reaches the required number of missions, but the required number of missions always increases. It s impossible to enter Major Major s office if he s in it, but you can talk to him in his office when he s not in the office. The initial uses of Catch 22 is that of a comedic device that revels in the absurdity of the world. Our ability to twist logic for our own means entertains us in the novelty of what can result from it. As the book draws to a close, however, Catch 22 starts being used with a distinctively different connotation, shown when Yossarian escapes to Rome. There, upon entering the ... • 6. Walden Rhetorical Analysis We can t live without nature. It s our home and way of life. Henry David Thoreau wrote a piece about Walden Pond in the springtime. Thoreau discusses how nature has so much to offer. His use of anaphora, diction, and imagery helps to show not only his love for nature, but the impact it has on us. One device he uses to come across to the reader is anaphora. His love of nature was clear and he had an eye for detail. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most ethereal flight I had ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was almost too perfect for this world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was thy sing? O Grave, where was thy victory, then? Thoreau is leaving the reader wondering with these questions. Thoreau is questioning nature now. When he goes in depth with anaphora it makes you think: why does nature leave a sting? Why is death apart of this world? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diction is the author s choice of style to He wants the reader to understand more about nature. Thoreau claimed, At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be infinitely wild, and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. This discusses the author s purpose because he wants us to understand there is so much more to learn. If we never explore we never grow. Thoreau also uses poetic diction like, We need the tonic of wildness. This diction also tells us nature is it s own medicine. Without nature or sunlight we wouldn t ... Tom Jones Essay Joy Thompson Mrs. Larson AP British Literature and Composition December 11, 2011 Refusal to Return: Finding Bliss at Upton Although Tom Jones by Henry Fielding is appropriately known as a comic novel written to no set of absolute rules, the work shows many characteristics similar to epics. In epic novels the main protagonist is normally known for following a set series of events called the hero s journey. The hero s journey is often a three part adventure consisting of a departure, an initiation, and a return, through which the protagonist learns much about their strengths and weaknesses having departed from their world to another. These unfortunate events led to Tom s call to adventure and puts him on the road that leads him to the inn at the town of Upton as well as to a state of mind that insulates him from any call to return to his previous world. In the traditional epic the call to adventure is normally tied to the reason the hero needs to return. During his time in his new world before he arrives at Upton, Tom befriends Benjamin Partridge, who is actually also a cause of Tom s going to Upton. According to the epic hero s journey, Benjamin is considered part of the second step known as tests, friends, and enemies. He is for the most part a good friend to Tom throughout the series of events in the novel. When Tom sets out at his first stop prior to Upton, he decides to join the army and meets Benjamin Partridge when he needs both a haircut and a wound tended. It is an internal analysis of a firm s strengths and weaknesses and an external analysis of threats and opportunities. A firm s strengths and weaknesses in the organization are what will determine if a condition in the external environment is a threat or opportunity. In this paper, I will write a SWOT analysis on Cincinnati Bell Telephone. A company s resources, capabilities, and core competencies are the foundation of competitive advantage. The firm combines individual tangible and intangible resources to create capabilities. In turn, capabilities are used to complete the organizational tasks required to produce, distribute, and service the goods or services the firm provides to customers for the purpose of creating value for them (Hitt, et al., 2013). Due to those calls being few and far between, the skills needed for a pediatric call are rarely at their best. There are also some who don t keep their pediatric skills as sharp as others, because of the low amount of calls they might run on kids. This paper will be focusing on cardiac arrests in children, and opening the reality of how common it is becoming. Everything from what causes it, what is the most common cause, and the unexplainable. The what s, how s and whys are all questions that we will be expected to know. There is so much that goes into these patients, physically and mentally. Knowing these things and understanding how to handle these situations is just as important as knowing the information for a registry test. In almost most of these incidents the family doesn t care how much you know, they care about how much you care. Cardiac Arrests in Children We have heard it more than once, the high school football player who has never had a health issue in his life, playing on a chilly, friday night, collapses in the middle of the game. The player dies instantly. Among the many issues that surround the race to the office, financing the presidential election seems to be a major topic that is always in the public eye. There are many different views on how the election should be financed but it is hard to tell how far government funding and donations can go before democracy is left behind. After President Nixon and the Watergate controversy in 1971, the United States began to put limits on how much a candidate could receive and spend within a campaign. In order to enforce fairness between candidates, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than government providing millions of dollars for the campaign and putting harsh restricts on individual donations, I believe that the limits should not be put on the American people but on the candidates themselves. Spending on the campaign has gotten out of control within the last decade. Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spend on mobile campaigns, advertisements, and media exposure. This funding could easily go towards other areas of society, benefiting the very people that the candidates wish to govern. Rather than directing negative attention, I believe that candidates should reach out to the public to gain support. Campaigning for presidency should not be about winning or who raises the most money. Presidency should be about protecting and caring for the American people. The conduct of campaigns should be monitored in order to limit spending and to prevent negative advertising towards opposite candidates. Candidates running for office should depend less on government funding and turn towards the public for their support. Rather then concerning ourselves with prohibiting the use of soft money we should control the amount of taxpayers dollars that are being spent. An opportunity in 2011 to teach young children in Hungary to speak English was just what they needed to pack their bags and move to Hungary for 6 months. They became volunteer teachers for local schools in Hungary. Burke and Anna taught children of all different ages. They stayed in the city of Szeged, Hungary. The apartment they were living in was very large and inexpensive for the size of the apartment, however it was very outdated. Living in Hungary was a very different experience for Burke and Anna. His dream was to work for the Peace Corps and he knew he needed to be a great English speaker to do so. according to Burke and Anna. Norby would talk to Burke and Anna as much as possible. One time he even invited them to dinner at his house. Burke and Anna gladly agreed to to have dinner with Norby and his family. Something they learned about Norby was he was the only one in his family that spoke English. This Essay presents a plot summary of Jamaica Kincaid s Girl as well as providing historical, societal, religious, scientific and biographical context for the short story. Kincaid s unusual land difficult to classify piece of short fiction consists of a brief monologue by an Antiguan mother to her adolescent daughter (Kim Bencel, 2) This is a story, not in verse or order that will remind you of days gone by. This is an Antiqua, British story where things are different, but really no different, than the upbringing in rural United States. Born in the West Indian Island of Antigua, Kincaid admits that her desire to write came while she was young, but it seemed like avocation that would elude her because she knew so little about what it involved (ProQuest Learning, 1). Themes that included things she had perhaps experienced personally. The poem stresses that the conditions are so poor that mother must prepare her daughter for womanhood and to find a decent man. It teaches her to cook certain baked goods and to be a good housekeeper. It alerts her to the not so nice part of life, and that smiling at a person you dislike is not the same smile you render to a person you really approve. Girl is rebellious and is reminded at every stop what to do and what to not do. Mother thinks girl is hell bound and about to be a tramp, (slut). She feels that she may never get one of the good boys if she acts in a certain way. Being a woman in poverty, her anger seems to get the best of her in different ways. The voice of the poem gets harsh after a while. It explores the things of today s taboo headlines such as abortion. This means, if the man girl choses don t work out, there is a remedy for ... He scouted England over seven years to get testimonies from the suffering that slavery had on its victims. From hard facts, he described actual slaves on the hell ships that were barely surviving. Origins And Influence Of Automobiles Origins and Influence of Automobiles in the Early 1900s Sean Francis AP United States History Mr. Ehrie June 5, 2015 Throughout history, engineers and scientists have achieved breakthroughs that allow the invention of the world s most influential products to come into existence. Johannes Gutenberg s printing press of the fifteenth century allowed for books to be printed, copied, and spread as seen never before. The introduction of the Bessemer process by Andrew Carnegie in steel manufacturing brought about the construction of modern cities. Thomas Edison s electric light of the 1800s lit up a world previously reliant on the light of daylight and candles. Innovations such as these are remembered for the same reason, which is that society and the way in which we live in it is still affected to this day by them. Following the victory by Americans of securing independence and sovereignty for Great Britain, the nation became a political, economic, and military, and scientific powerhouse within a very short time. By the late nineteenth century, a new marvel had appeared across the Atlantic in Europe: the automobile. Though transportation such as trains or steamboats had been widely available since the early 1800s, the automobile would allow people to trade in their horse drawn carriages. EBay competition is very broad and varies with each of its different products. eBay competes closely with many well know broad based companies such as traditional department and general merchandise stores, as well as a large variety of online retailers. Due to this complex competitive industry, eBay must concentrate on many competitive factors such as: ability to attract buyers, volume of transactions and selection of goods, customer service, system reliability, brand recognition, and many others to keep their edge. The bargaining power of buyers is low because the seller sets the prices of the products and because a majority of the sales are in an auction platform. This gives eBay and the buyer less control of the products prices, but in most cases the large amount of sellers per product keeps the prices low and competitive. The buyers benefit from the competition of the sellers, convenience of a trade environment, and not on the power of price bargaining. • 23. Theory Of Moral Development In To Kill A Mockingbird By... Jem s Analysis Kohlberg s Theory of Moral Development reflects on the idea that people s decisions are based on how they process the importance of a situation. According to his theory, there are three stages of moral development: preconventional, conventional, and postconventional. Each level is based on how a person s reflects to making a moral decision. In each level there are two stages on how their level of sophistication affected their way of thinking. The book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is an example of moral development because as the book progresses the reader can tell how Jem finds himself having to make moral decisions. Although the book is narrated by Scout (Jem s younger sister) the reader can see that Jem changes his way of thinking as the situations that occur makes him think a certain way. Jem has to experience and observe situations that make him question his way of seeing the world around him. Jem begins the moral development at conventional because in the beginning of the book Jem is more worried about winning the approval of his friends and showing his bravery. The first stage in Kohlberg s Moral Development is called Preconventional and that is when a person is more worried about the reward and the punishment that comes with a certain situation (powerpoint). Though being sexually active with more than one partner in a lifetime is moderately common in today s society, it was severely looked down upon in the 1800s. In The Scarlet Letter, Nathanial Hawthorne communicates the story of Hester Prynne, an adulteress. Hester Prynne lived in a Puritan Society in which women were held to high, difficult, and unjust standards by men. Evidently, she undergoes unusual punishments for her infidelities against her estranged husband. She forcibly wears an embroidered, scarlet letter A on her breast for the remainder of her life. Though physically benign, its call of attention to Hester s transgression is emotionally straining. As a man or woman, adultery must always be perceived as improper and unlawful. However, the author exhibits transcendentalist values when one can conclude that Hawthorne s words were not demeaning Hester, but more so commending her. His execution of rhetorical devices applauds Hester s individuality in a conforming society. Through the author s implementation of diction to illuminate Hester and debase the rest of society, manipulation of symbolism to compliment Hester s individuality, and application of irony to manifest Hester s gained dignity from rebelling, Hawthorne illustrates Hester s journey in a culture against change as one of dauntlessness, and conveys his purpose that individuality is precious.
