Drinking College Campuses
Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in
CintroГЊn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over consumption (A
Sober Assessment of High Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps
taken to address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals
enter college, it is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking
age or do not. Many of these college students, specifically freshmen, are experiencing freedom for
the first time in their lives and it can be relatively easy for them to get carried away, resulting in
irresponsible decision making which often involves alcoholic... Show more content on

They returned to the house and left Carson on a mattress, he never woke up. Carson died
unresponsive, unmonitored, and abandoned on a mattress. He died from acute alcohol poisoning;
his blood alcohol level was .40. (Carson s Story)
Carson was not the first person to lose his life as a result of a stupid mistake and the inaction of
others. Rather than being able to learn from his poorly made decision, Carson s life came to an
abrupt end.
At the end of the day, if an individual over consumes alcohol, that shouldn t be the last decision they
make. A person s life, dreams and future shouldn t depend another s hesitation to call for medical
attention due to fear of legal repercussions. By implementing medical amnesty legislation in all
communities hosting college campuses, an increase in individuals seeking help, will contribute to
the decreasing of college students dying due to alcohol over consumption and substance

The Death Of A Man s Obedience
Obedience You have to make choices whether to follow the rules of not. To be obedient means to
comply with an order, request, or submission to another s authority. This authority has the power
to make an individual obey in ways that go against their personal and moral values. Because of
this the authority can make individuals commit terrible acts without question. An example of this
can be the abhorrent and inhumane acts carried out by German soldiers in WWII. All the German
troops orders were from one single individual, Adolf Hitler. Why is it that man is so prone to obey
and why is it hard for him to contravene? The reason for man s obedience is a mixture of social
influences, authorityfigures, and their own self conscience. A person s obedience can be derived
from social pressure and group minds. Most all people live their lives in groups such as with
family, work groups, school peers, political groups, etc. Also most people want to belong to a
group and can t stand being unaccompanied. We are group animals and tend to think as the group
thinks which makes it hard for an individual to maintain their own opinions. According to
Lessing, People who have experienced a lot of groups, who have observed their own behavior,
may agree that the hardest thing in the world is to stand out against one s group, a group of one s
peers. Many agree that among our most shameful memories is this, how often we said black was
white because other people were saying it (653). A person s

Robert Frost s Desert Places
Robert Frost s Desert Places
One of the most monumental poetic works of T.S Eliot is The Waste Land . The poem emerges as
a gigantic metaphor for melancholy, loneliness, solitude the unavoidable companions of human
existence. Similar kinds of feelings are evoked by Robert Frost in Desert Places .
The very title is suggestive of a mood of emptiness. Throughout our life we cross various deserts to
find our destiny. The beauty of the poem lies in the conjunction the meetingpoint desert outside in
the nature with the desert inside. This becomes the focal point of the poem. The dreary opening is
indicated by the falling snow and the advancing night. The poet observes the scenario as the snow
blankets the earth and the darkness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the poet finally gives to the whole scene. The tiny man feels shrouded by the layers of snow.
The lonesome man crystallizes his loneliness in this snowy covering.
Such is the impact of the natural cohesiveness that the poet, as he observes the natural panorama,
regards himself as an intruder in this unit. The poet relishes the pleasure that the animals are
having as they crouch in their lairs, becoming a part of the nature. The animals manage to develop
a correlation with the nature because they don t complain due to a feeling of unconsciousness
while the poet does complain, he does give vent to his feeling as his perceptive mind ponders over
the cold hard realities.
Realities that whether he matters in this whole setup? The strain in the emotional chords of the
poet endow a strange minor tone to the whole poem as he realizes that his benumbed mind has
failed to draw a relation and so he grooves back into his own self.
The whole of the second stanza is brimming with the realization of being deprived.
It becomes his callousness and stubbornness to enter the realm of nature and endowed to him by
the sense of being lonely and deprived. The recognition of this sense of loneliness and
dispossession results in his mind being at a loss to emotional response. In this mind set he gives
way to the benumbing mood all around. The whole nature is showing a moodic deceleration
because of the snow and the night. In direct contrast to its nature, this

School Dress Codes And Stereotype Girls
A distraction is defined as anything that prevents someone from giving full attention to
something else. Schools ridicule and stereotype girls as distractions . School dress codes have
been modified to fix the distracting criteria. From filling ideals of modern day sexism,
diminishing personal expression, and finally targeting self esteem.Ideals of modern day sexism
are a huge problem in our society. From a young age girls are taught our bodies are always
sexualized and we must cover them. Schools enforce dress codes for more than one reason, the
most common is to represent professionalism and the blatant excuse of it s too much of a
distraction to the boys. Schools sexualize our bodies in a similar way that the modern day society...

She had watched me walk into the hallway and followed me to my locker, and confronted me in
front of everyone . Students shouldn t have to feel ashamed of what they re wearing, and they
shouldn t have to hide their bodies. When staff and administrators aim at girls whose dresses
may not be a full knee length or shoulder straps that aren t quite three fingers; it effects their body
image and their self worth. This not only affects attitudes inside the school, but outside as well.
Girls are viewed as a distraction the more we scold and repudiate girls on how they dress, the
more boys will begin to as well. Students feel ridiculed and ashamed of what teachers, admins,
and even other students say about their choices in clothing, or the fact of them being dress
coded. Businesses and other professional places will want employees to dress appropriately, but
is it appropriate to ask someone to change because their skirt is too distracting for other workers?
The answer is most likely not, in a work setting each person is responsible for getting their own
work done. In schools each student is responsible for their education. Girls have a hard time being
responsible for their work if they re being taken out of class to change

The Movie Les Miserables ( 2012, United Kingdom )
This project focuses on the movie Les MisГ©rables (2012, United Kingdom). The film is an
epic romantic musical directed by Tom Hooper. As a film, Les MisГ©rables is based on a
musical by Claude Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil that goes by the same name (Les
MisГ©rables) and is also based upon Victor Hugo s French novel Les MisГ©rables, 1862 (Shoard
n.p). This analysis looks at various elements of the movie ranging from the themes used in the film,
its genre, artistic movement, the director s style and the film s representation on its country s culture.
The movie tells the story of an ex convict by the name of Jean Valjean. Mr. Valjean resorts to
change his life after getting inspiration from a kind hearted pastor. He ends up being a factory
owner as well as a mayor in a one of the town s in France. Even though he is focused on making
positive strides, his past is something he is wary of. Valjean is wary of being recaptured by
Monsieur Javert, a ruthless police inspector with the reputation of hunting down criminals and a
strong belief that law breakers are not capable of change. One of Jean Valjean s workers, a
woman by the name of Fantine ends up as a prostitute after being cast out of the factory. She ends
up dying and Valjean ends up feeling responsible for her demise. To make up for it, he adopts
Fantine s daughter Cosette offering to take care of her. When Cosette matures, they end up being
embroiled in the political unrest that took place during the 1832 Paris

Analysis Of Kelly Sue Deconnick s Bitch Planet
Contextualizing a Visual Motif In Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick there is another world
built through the cartoon. Women are dictated by their fathers, or controlling men of the society,
and punished for being obese or not what the men perceive as perfect. It brings the reader into a
futurist world which has some of the same twisted ideas of the modern world. It enlarges the idea
that bigger women are unwanted and sexualizes thin women in advertisements and in casual
conversation. This is can be seen throughout multiple panels of the comic. The comic is repetitively
sexualizing the thin women and shamming the bigger women with the use of language and
background images. There are two images of a womaneatingfood in a seductive... Show more

Celebrities everywhere are cutting out things from their diet that they do not need to in order to
lose weight. Thousands of people will also starve themselves because they think that it helps
them to lose weight, but it just hurts their body more. The writer exemplifies the problems in
today s pop culture to a new level to allow the reader to see how insane it really is. On the next
page we can see the men casually speaking poorly of the bigger woman who is working. One of
them talks about having sex with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on
his coffee with no cares about who overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have
little shame in what they say and are proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after
that there is a close up of the larger woman. This forces the reader to focus on her face and her
face alone. From this image you can see the pure anger and frustration in her face from what
these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is amplifying the emotion in order to ensure
that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important detail. Following that we see the
news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that is positive and makes it
sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. By using words like wish and dream

Analysis Of My First Selected Poem By Jane Hirshfield
My first selected poem is a poem written by Jane Hirshfield called The Poet . The Poet is about
a female poet trying to re discover her skill of creating beautiful poems. When reading this poem,
the reader can infer that this poet is in distress and frustrated because the poet sets a depressing
mood. You almost start to feel a little sympathetic for her, but the mood lightens when the poet
finds out that her poems aren t discovered in a calm and perfect situation. This changes the mood
from depressing to encouraging in just a few lines. My second poem is a poem called Starry
Night written by Shirley Geok lin Lim. The poem is focused on a mother and her son s

The Effects Of Divorce On Our Society
The United States is a country that takes pride in the fact that no matter what religion, race or
sex you are you can join together in the unity of marriage. Many people dream of growing up
and marrying the love of their life and having a family, but they do not take into consideration
there are 2.3 million marriages a year, with over 1.2 million divorces ( The Impact of Divorceon Our
Society ). Divorce is not limited to breaking apart the husband and wife; it destroys families,
siblings and the future of the American children. Divorces cause money, crime and education issues
and an overall effect on the children caught in the middle, which follows them into their adult life.
A $1,000 of taxpayer s money is spent dealing with the consequences of broken families ( The
Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). The amount of money spent in divorce procedures and in
the long run is astronomical. From divorce lawyers to child support, there is no denying this
bonus part of life is expensive. It impacts families as well as tax payers and the government. The
median household net worth is $132,000 for marrieds, $35,000 for singles, and $33,670 for
divorced individuals ( The Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). If people get married, they have a
far better chance to earn a comfortable living, but they have to stay together. If not, the taxpayers
and government have to pay consequences for divorces. If people took the time to make sure their
partner was for life, then the expense would

Essay On Prisons In The 1800 s
We have changed for the better. During the 1800 s prisons were horrendous; the general
condition of these prisons were disgusting. To add onto that, the prisoners were not even treated
like people. These prisons in the 1800 s were sort of as if the guards and high authority figures
had a tight leash and the prisoners would be on the end of the leash, being under complete
control of the higher ups. Why, were prisons this bad? Why, were prisoners treated like pets?
Well, today we will go over all the basics of prisons in the 1800 s by looking at their designs, what
the rules/regulations were in place, and what punishments were put in place for the prisoners. To
start things off, we will look at the overall design of prisons in the 1800 s. First, the overall look of
an average prisonhad a center point and cells would surround and also face the center point. The
point of the center point was so that the guards could be in one area and look outwards to see all
the cells at once. If you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start things off, one form of punishmentwas treadmills. Instead of people using treadmills for
exercise, prisoners we forced to run and run for as long as they were assigned for as their
punishment (Allen, 32). Another form of punishment was the sweat box. A sweat box was a
small enclosed area, or a small cell, that was extremely hot which would torture the prisoner and
also dehydrate them. The last form of punishment that we will cover is going to be solitary
confinement. Allen state that solitary confinement is A punishment program requiring isolation of
an inmate in a cell, as known as a prison with in a prison (Allen, 32). Prisoners were locked in a
room with nothing but themselves and the walls surrounding them for hours upon hours. Solitary
confinement is still a debated topic now a days. Hopefully now you have a basic understanding of
what prisons in the 1800 s were

Keiurig Green Mountain Coffee Marketing Strategy
Coffee is a highly recognised aphrodisiac: the caffeine in the coffee endorses hormones that
create sexual drive. But, if you re looking to get laid tonight, don t choose Keurig Green
Mountain coffee for your sweet nothings. Keurig Green Mountain Coffee is a waste of desire, the
brew is weak and watery, there is no fine line between bitter or acidic and overly creamy, and the
lasting residue is something you don t want on your tongue.
Keurig is a nationally renowned company. It was founded by some guy somewhere, that nobody
really cares about, and apparently he liked coffee. And apparently it wasn t a passion strong
enough to make good coffee. As of today the company has sold out 80 various brands and
demeaned their 575 beverage varieties. Some of the the brands include, Van Houtte, Donut House,
Tierney s Iced Tea Co., Green Mountain Coffee, and Starbucks. Truthfully, I ve never even heard
of half of these companies that must explain the situation. As for the Keurig brewing system, it is
specialized in making tea, iced coffee, hot coffee, and cold brew coffee. Honestly, the only girl

My Hero Essay
Flames shot twenty feet into the air. Drums blared, guitars strum, and one tear escaped my eye.
This was the greatest experience of my life, I was finally getting to see my hero, Paul
McCartney. While most kids of the generation look up to the the likes of Justin Bieber, and
Ariana Grande, I differ. My hero has integrity, he stands up for what he believes in, even if it s
not a popular opinion. Even better is his ability to inspire, his lyrics and rhetoric make people
change for the better. A true hero has the ability to make people act, not by force, but because they
want to.
It is not easy to stand up for what one believes in when he is criticised by the public or media.
Being able to stand against the regular cultural norms and do what is right is a strong identifier of
integrity, and that is what Paul McCartney does. The greatest example of this was in the late 60 s,
when Paul was a Beatle. This was the stadium era, a time for concert goers that was ushered in by
The Beatles. The unfortunate piece of the however, was the fact that this era still involved
segregation. Paul and the Beatles would not stand for this tolerance, the most amazing piece to
keep in mind is that at the time they were just teenagers. They showed integrity when after hearing
that a concert of theirs would be segregated they released this statement We never play to
segregated audiences and we aren t going to start now. I d sooner lose our appearance money, it s
embarrassing to admit that these

The Market Structures Of The Village Of Forest Park, Illinois
Introduction
When discussing microeconomics, there are several market structures that may have an impact the
economy in the Village of Forest Park, Illinois. These market structures including perfect
competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly have many characteristics and
have an impact on the market as a whole. There are many barriers to entry, competitive pressure and
price elasticity that also impact the economic growth of the village. Other areas that affect the
village s economy include governmental roles and international trade.
Two Characteristics of the Four Market Structures
The major market structures that impact our current economy are perfect competition, monopolistic
competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opposite of a perfect completion is another market structure called a monopoly. A monopoly
is a situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given
type of product or service. By definition, monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition,
which often results in high prices and inferior products (Investopedia, 2014). A characteristic of
this market structure is when there is a single supplier, which carries a unique product, or service,
which dominates the entire market. There is a high barrier to entry in a monopolistic market due to
other firms being unable to enter the market easily to provide the product or service at a
competitive price.
A monopolistic competition describes a common market structure in which firms have many
competitors or sellers, but each one sells a vaguely distinctive product or service. One of this
market structure s characteristics is that each individual firm makes independent decisions about
price and output, based on its product, its market, and its costs of production (Economics Online,
2015). Another characteristic is there is freedom to enter or leave the market, since there are no
major barriers to entry or exit. The opposite of this market structure is an oligopoly. Oligopoly
means few sellers. Oligopoly is the market structure in which there are only a few firms or a few
firms dominate the market (Amacher Pate, 2013). In an oligopolistic market, each seller supplies a

My Life Span Development Class
On February 17, 2016, our Life Span Development class observed the physical, cognitive, and
social development of Asher, a 5.5 month old male. The observation was conducted at Dordt
College in room CL2260 and the infant s parent consented to participate in the live observation.
Asher was quite sick and later saw a doctor, so the findings of this report may not entirely represent
Asher s development.
Asher was 5 weeks along when his mother, Abby, found out she was pregnant. Asher is the third
child and has a 4 year old sister and a 3 year old brother. Abby tried to eat as healthy as she could
during her pregnancy to ensure that Asher would be as healthy as possible. Thus, she avoided
lunchmeats, seafood, and soft cheeses. At 20 weeks, Abby had an ultrasound, in which no
structural abnormalities were found. Since this was her third child, Abby chose not to take part in
prenatal counseling. Labor lasted only about an hour, and Asher was born by Cesarean Delivery
like his two siblings. Asher was born on September 2nd, 2015, weighing 7lbs., 10oz. at a length of
21 inches. These are both above average for both height and weight of newborns in North America
but within two standard deviations of the average (Santrock, 2014). At 5.5 months, Asher weighs
17 pounds. This is about the normal weight, for Asher is on pace to triple his birth weight by age
one (Santrock, 2014).
In terms of reflexes, Asher is mostly on pace with the average 5.5 month old, but there are a few

Essay Fairy Tales
Fairy Tales
Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm are famous for their renditions of some of the most beloved children s
fairy tales. Among the hundreds is the well known (Schneewittchen) Snow drop. This fairy tale is
in many aspects common, imperfect, and vulgar, as are most of the fairy tale translations of the
Grimm Brothers. These characteristics are what depict the Grimm fairy tales. The tales were
primarily written to entertain and relate to the common peasantsof the 1800 s. The stories are not
what you would call a perfect fairy tale in that the end is not always as you would predict, but
there is always a happy ending. In Snow White, there were many versions that the Grimm Brothers

approximately four years to research and complete. Veteran Disney art director and designer
Ken Anderson recalls, One night in 1934, we came back to the studio to work after dinner, and
Walt called 40 of us on to the small recording stage. We all sat in folding chairs, the lights went
down, and Walt spent the next four hours telling us the story of Snow White and the Seven
Dwarfs. He didn t just tell the story, he acted out each character, and when he got to the end he
told us that was going to be our first feature. It was a shock to all of us because we knew how
hard it was to do a cartoon short. He was doing something no other studio had ever attempted, but
his excitement over Snow White inspired us all. Walt Disney took his story line for Snow White
directly from the Grimm s fairy tale even though there are over 20 adaptations of this particular
fairy tale.

The Test Of Patients Admitted At The Massachusetts General...
2. a) The study used a consecutive non randomized, non probability sampling method. The study
selected records of patients admitted to the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) between
September 1997 and August 2008 in a consecutive manner until a specific number was obtained. In
this study, the number was 297. The study excluded 62 records that did not fit the sampling
requirements. The final samplewas n = 235 (Salinas et al., 2012). When using consecutive
sampling techniques, the researcher includes all patients who agree to participate, provided that
they meet specific pre established criteria. The researcher will stop the selection process when the
desired sample is achieved. This sampling technique is similar to the convenience sampling
technique except, that it aims to represent the whole cohort of the population (Fain, 2013). It is
considered the most reliable non probability sampling technique. This sampling method is more
credible and possesses a higher validity level than any other non probability sampling method. It
also decreases the possibility of researcher s bias. However, this sampling technique faces the same
issue of all the non probability sampling techniques as the possibility of bias is always present
(Fain, 2013). Another drawback of the consecutive sampling technique lies within the possibility
that the response rate and the type of individuals responding may influence the findings. The
responding individuals may have life circumstances or personal

The changes were significant and included:

Flexibility is demonstrated with options to cash out sick leave, penalty rates, overtime pay, shift
loadings, allowances, redundancy pay and the extra week of annual leave where it exists (ACCI,

negotiation (OAE, 2008).
Certain requirements must be met in order to undertake industrial action under WorkChoices. These
requirements are designed to significantly reduce the occurrence of protected industrial action
(APH, 2008). The management and resolution of disputes pre Work Choices 2005 involved a
massive commitment of both time and energy to work through the resolution processes (ACCI,

All workplace agreements contain a dispute resolution procedure clause. Work Choices makes third

First, when a company is large, as is Wal Mart, it is harder for that company to grow rapidly.
Secondly, Wal Mart has underinvested in its stores and staffed them with too few employees to
keep their shelves stocked and answer customers questions (Berr, 2015, para. 7). A third
challenge is the sluggish economy. Challenge four is how Wal Mart s competitors are not
standing still by appealing to teen shoppers and competing with the prices of groceries. The fifth
challenge facing Wal Mart and McMillon is the raise in employees wages that will pressure Wal

Analysis Of Roe V. Wade
In modern days when the term abortion came up a lot of people felt quite uncomfortable because it
usually is a lightly touched subject that nobody speaks about. It is known as a forbidden word.
Abortion really means any variety of surgical methods for terminating a pregnancy, especially
during the first six months of the pregnancy. The background to the historical right of abortion

Diagnosing Car Repair
If you are thinking of car repair, there are certain things you should know. For starters, you must
realize that the exercise can be divided into various categories in order to address different issues.
For instance, there are basic repairs, which can be carried out even by a beginner or anyone who
owns a vehicle. Then there are the advanced repairs, which can only be carried out by people with
technical knowledge. Things like oil change and changing tirescan fit in the first category hence you
can carry them out yourself.
Another important thing to note is about checkups. Even though you might not intend to do any
repair work on your own, a huge percentage of checkups are your responsibility. For instance, you
have to keep checking the condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though there are many providers offering these services, you should note that some might not
be of much help. This could be due to the high price they charge or lack of the required expertise.
When trying to address this, you should visit different providers to find out how they go about
the process. The best providers should diagnose the problem first before stating the cost.
Remember, some of them might charge for the diagnostic process, so this should be stated before
they begin. Of course, it would be nice if you find a provider who does not charge for diagnosing
the problem.
Even though you might be interested in low cost providers, you should never compromise on
service quality. Most of the problems might have different fixes, but it is good to go for those that
do not compromise the safety of the vehicle and also offer a long term solution.
In most cases, you will find that the best car repair service will be offered at mid range prices.
With this in mind, you can be sure to get a good provider. Remember, regardless of your
knowledge level in car maintenance issues, your input is very important for satisfactory

System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
The Systems development life cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model that is used in the project
management which describes the stages involved in the information system development project,
from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. SDLC is used
to correct problems in existing system, and to improve the system quality and structure. It
certainly makes the process easy for building a system and helps to reduce failures such as
unclear objectives, possibility of not meeting the user needs, or cost overruns. We can generally
consider the SDLC in five phases. These 5 phases are repeated until the desired or efficient output
is achieved. The 5 phases of system development life cycle are:
1.Planning
2.Analysis
3.Design
4.Implementation
5.Maintenance
1.Planning:
This phase begins when the project is defined and the appropriate resources have been selected. The
first part of the planning phase involves collecting, defining and validating functional, support and
training requirements. The second part involves developing initial life cycle management plans,

Analysis of E.E. Cummings In Just
Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any

those risks to make his poems very spontaneous and out there such as in r p o p h e s s a g r .
This 19th century poet made great poems that won many honors and awards such as the Dial award

The setting of this poem occurs outside in spring. Where children are playing and doing what
one would see all little kids doing, playing hopscotch, playing in the mud, and dancing around.
This poem is an auditory as well as a visual read. It s meant to be read aloud, even the title
becomes part of the poem itself. The poem itself visually takes the reader along the trail in the
park in early spring when little children are running around and when the sun is out and shining
bright. Cummings has a sort of odd structure to this poem making it look like it dances around to
go with the theme of playfulness and dancing. The line Spring when the world is mud luscious
(cummings,1) goes with the title of Cummings poem it plays into the theme of it all. Also, the line

theme because of how the names are scrunched together symbolizing how a child would talk, and
the hop scotch and jump rope being the children playing. Therefor the poem In just by E.E

According to John Manfreda of Oilprice.com, even though fracking had always been around, the
first person to patent it was Col. Edward A.L. Roberts. Roberts had labeled the method The
Exploding Torpedo , the process involved placing a torpedo filled with powder into a well near an
oil spot, then explode the torpedo and immediately fill the whole with water. From what John
Manfreda has concluded later on Edward A. L. Roberts had expanded this method into creating
Roberts Petroleum Torpedo Company. This early type of fracking was much different than our
modern day hydraulic fracking. Manfreda explains how the first hydraulic fracking began in the
1930 s. Instead of using nitroglycerine like Col. Roberts had done this new and improved version

combining fracking with horizontal drilling, thus making up our modern day knowledge of
fracking. This method of oil fracking has become so popular because for one it produces a very
large amount of oil; much more than what original drilling method produces. Another reason is the
higher prices for oil in the world. Common knowledge tells us that if a country can produce its own

An Analysis Of The Torso Of Aphrodite

describing The Torso of Aphrodite, using my own viewpoints and the elements of formal art
analysis, in order to explain the uniqueness when compared to other pieces in The Classical World
exhibit.
The Torso of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century A.D. and is made entirely of marble.

As the robe simultaneously conceals and reveals, it blends nicely into the lower part of her torso.
Her body is proportioned smoothly, with no areas of obvious fault or imperfection. I think having
those sensual characteristics adds to her overall beauty.
This sculpture is comprised of marble, and due to its large size it was easier for me to develop
an impression about the piece because I can focus on specific parts in more detail. To understand
the piece, a very visual and detailed perspective is needed. Judging by the way the thighs are
represented, it appears as though she is striking a contrapposto pose, which makes her appear
static. She has most of her weight shifted on her left leg, but not all of it The focal point of this
piece I believe is her robe. It skillfully falls down her left side, while leaving other parts exposed,
drawing the main attention of this piece. Few different types of shapes are displayed, except the
shape of her legs and the form of the robe. The physical texture was smooth throughout the entire
piece, partly due to the material it is made of. There is only this one texture, as her robe and body
parts all feel the same.
The title of this piece is Torso of Aphrodite/Venus . This piece was discovered outside of Rome in
1771. Afterwards, it was purchased by a wealthy English collector, who displayed it in his home.

Nelson Mandela Courage Analysis
Leaders: Creating A Better Tomorrow Important leaders/activists have left an impactful effect
on not just our lives, but the worlds. But certain leaders, out of millions, have touched us
effectively. Leaving us with a strive and determination to change the world we live in today. For
Instance, Nelson Mandela a man full of courage, fought endlessly until he saw freedom rights
for all. Additionally, Gandhi was disgusted by the unequal treatment to certain races, so he
decided to stand up for an equal life, for all. Last but certainly not least, Morgan Brian who was
shocked and impacted by the unequal pay between women and men soccer players, and decided
to fight it. Although these individuals used different methods, they all had courage, passion, and
devoted followers, who helped them stand up for their cause. To start, Nelson Mandela had
courage, a large group that shared the same ideas that he did, and the dedication to his fight that
made him sacrifice so much. For instance, I learned the meaning of courage...showing a strength
and resiliency that defies the imagination (Mandela). This shows how Mandela had courage,
which ultimately was his inspiration for freedom to be widespread, for both the oppressed and the
oppressors. Additionally, I saw that it was not just my freedom that was curtailed, but the freedom
of everyone who looked like I did. That is when I joined the African National Congress, and that is

Literary Devices In Beowulf
Beowulf through the eyes of Tolkien Trilogies like the Lord of The Rings and the Hobbit have had
great historical and linguistic significance in the literary world, capturing the attention of many.
However, the aesthetic and craft like qualities of these works are at times ignored and not
appreciated enough to create more interest. For a literary giant like J.R.R. Tolkien, his speech of
Beowulfbeing noteworthy the way it is because of its artistic characteristics are only accomplished
by the use of specific rhetorical devices to achieve his point. Taken from his essay Beowulf:The
Monsters and the Critics. presented at the 1936 British Academy Lecture, he first starts off by
presenting the arguments that have been formed about Beowulf and continues to counter argue
them in order to make a stronger and more elaborate point, which is enhanced with his use of
authoritative language. Tolkien also dives deep into written technique that is embedded into
Beowulf, which is accompanied with a artistic like analysis. In the end, Tolkien is successful in
painting a picture to the audience his opinion about Beowulf s artful qualities, because his effective
use of rhetorical strategies throughout creates the poem to be more than a historical epic and piece
of fiction.
In starting his lecture, Tolkien lays out criticism that poem has received about placing more
importance to non literary aspects, and counter argues his own opinion to establish that the artful

Importance And Importance Of Team Building
Introduction
Team Building is essential to make the organization a better place to work. When we hear the term
Team Building we are drawn to the term team and then what can be done to help them grow and

are motivational as well as fun. These events can be used to determine strong points in the person s
personality, such as leadership skills, problem solving skills, etc. This can benefit the person by
giving them job satisfaction and the opportunity to progress to their full potential. Team building is
truly important as it also benefits the team as a whole. When employees of any company who

Typically, football is the primary sport studied. This is largely due to the convenience in the ability
to place sensors and other technologies inside a helmet which do not increase the risk of injuries for
the athletes, and the large number of athletes in the sport. For instance, six degree of freedom
measurement devices have been placed inside of football helmets so that the head acceleration
measures me be obtained. Instrumented helmets can then be used to directly measure the linear and
rotation accelerations, as well as the location of impacts without interfering with normal sporting
play [28].
Human surrogates Human surrogates include dummies and computational models. Surrogates allow
for investigation of impacts that could not be performed on human or animal models, while
additionally standardizing the contact phenomena. This allows for the differences in response to
impact to be said to be due to the treatment conditions or impact characteristics, rather than the
variations between the subject being impacted. Dummies can be made of a variety of materials.
What the dummy is made from helps determine its reliability and accuracy of the measurements
obtain from its use. Metal head forms produce more reliable data, while biofidelic heads produce
more realistic data [15]. The most accurate biofidelic dummies are based on the tissue

Asthma Pathophysiology
Pathophysiology Asthma is a disease of the lungs that can be influenced by different genes or
alleles. When the epithelial or mucosal barrier is exposed to pollens, allergens, microbes or
pollutants, these can stimulate the underlying antigen presenting cells (APC) which causes an
immune response to occur.17 This can cause a cell influx into the airway that is primarily
eosinophilic or neutrophilic. When the allergens present themselves, they can initiate a breakdown
in the physical barriers, causing further allergic, inflammatory responses.
Epidemiology
According to a 2012 report the incidence of adults with asthma ranges from 5.8 11.1% across the
states.10 According to the report, those reporting asthma have anywhere from a mild to a severe
form of the disease, the latter causing exacerbations or attacks. According to this report, asthma
incidence has increased from 2001 to 2010. At least 4% of the worldwide population is afflicted
with asthma.11 Depending upon how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new guidelines also recommend that if there are adults who are on high doses of continued or
frequent use of oral steroids, that they be referred for specialist care. Studies have demonstrated
that when clients have asthma and are given high doses of corticosterioids, this can lead to bone
density loss, and potentially osteoporosis, so it is important for clinicians to monitor their patients
with moderate to severe asthma for this side

Frito Lay Essay
Specifications As a summer engineering intern at Frito Lay, the importance of maintaining
standards and quality on all projects has been reinforced to me daily. Considering that Frito Lay is
an organization with worldwide product distribution, protecting both the brand and the consumer is
understandably important. To ensure product consistency, the use of specifications is leveraged
throughout the company to detail operating consistency, safety protocol, and product quality
standards. With the pressure placed on engineers to guarantee that implemented solutions are safe
and will perform as expected, there is a tendency to overuse specifications. In their attempts to cover
all the bases, engineers sometimes design excessive requirements... Show more content on

owns the design specification and will not share details with competing suppliers. In addition, the
GES specification document calls out specific quality and safety design requirements for vendors
to follow. Compliance to the National Electrical code to insure proper electrical safety protocol is
followed is the overriding safety specification throughout the GES specification document. On the
quality front, design specifications detail maximum system drop point acceptance to minimize
product (Potato Chips tend to break if not handled gently) breakage. Frito Lay s commitment to
excellent and the culture for detail that has evolved as a result help ensure that only high quality
products that are safe both to produce and to consume make it to market. To take a less structured
approach would come with high risk. As the upside of doing things correctly far outweighs the
downside related to the risk of failure, I recommend that Frito Lay continue to leverage the same
expectation for detail on all future projects. In order to assist new employees who may join existing
project teams, I would also recommend that the company provide training on how to interpret and

shall sleep in a bed. No animal shall drink alcohol. No animal shall kill any other animal. All
animals are equal. (Animal Farm, George Orwell). These commandments are the basic backbone
of the idea of Animalism. The idea of Communism brought up by Lenin which is the real life
counterpart of Animalism. Which was based of Marxism which was created by Karl Marx.
Communism is the political theory in which all property is publicly owned and each person works
and is paid according to their abilities and needs. The 7 commandments represent the basic laws of
communism stating certain things that an individual must follow, but the government does not
seem to think it applies to them. 1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of
land to public purposes. 2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. 3. Abolition of all rights
of inheritance. 4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels. 5. Centralization of credit

Drinking College Campuses Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in CintroГЊn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over consumption (A Sober Assessment of High Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps taken to address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals enter college, it is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking age or do not. • 3. The Death Of A Man s Obedience Obedience You have to make choices whether to follow the rules of not. To be obedient means to comply with an order, request, or submission to another s authority. This authority has the power to make an individual obey in ways that go against their personal and moral values. Because of this the authority can make individuals commit terrible acts without question. An example of this can be the abhorrent and inhumane acts carried out by German soldiers in WWII. All the German troops orders were from one single individual, Adolf Hitler. Why is it that man is so prone to obey and why is it hard for him to contravene? The reason for man s obedience is a mixture of social influences, authorityfigures, and their own self conscience. A person s obedience can be derived from social pressure and group minds. Most all people live their lives in groups such as with family, work groups, school peers, political groups, etc. Also most people want to belong to a group and can t stand being unaccompanied. We are group animals and tend to think as the group thinks which makes it hard for an individual to maintain their own opinions. According to Lessing, People who have experienced a lot of groups, who have observed their own behavior, may agree that the hardest thing in the world is to stand out against one s group, a group of one s peers. Many agree that among our most shameful memories is this, how often we said black was white because other people were saying it (653). A person s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poem emerges as a gigantic metaphor for melancholy, loneliness, solitude the unavoidable companions of human existence. Similar kinds of feelings are evoked by Robert Frost in Desert Places . The very title is suggestive of a mood of emptiness. Throughout our life we cross various deserts to find our destiny. The beauty of the poem lies in the conjunction the meetingpoint desert outside in the nature with the desert inside. This becomes the focal point of the poem. The dreary opening is indicated by the falling snow and the advancing night. The poet observes the scenario as the snow blankets the earth and the darkness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now the poet finally gives to the whole scene. The tiny man feels shrouded by the layers of snow. The lonesome man crystallizes his loneliness in this snowy covering. Such is the impact of the natural cohesiveness that the poet, as he observes the natural panorama, regards himself as an intruder in this unit. The poet relishes the pleasure that the animals are having as they crouch in their lairs, becoming a part of the nature. The animals manage to develop a correlation with the nature because they don t complain due to a feeling of unconsciousness while the poet does complain, he does give vent to his feeling as his perceptive mind ponders over the cold hard realities. Realities that whether he matters in this whole setup? The strain in the emotional chords of the poet endow a strange minor tone to the whole poem as he realizes that his benumbed mind has failed to draw a relation and so he grooves back into his own self. The whole of the second stanza is brimming with the realization of being deprived. It becomes his callousness and stubbornness to enter the realm of nature and endowed to him by the sense of being lonely and deprived. The recognition of this sense of loneliness and dispossession results in his mind being at a loss to emotional response. In this mind set he gives way to the benumbing mood all around. The whole nature is showing a moodic deceleration because of the snow and the night. In direct contrast to its nature, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Schools ridicule and stereotype girls as distractions . School dress codes have been modified to fix the distracting criteria. From filling ideals of modern day sexism, diminishing personal expression, and finally targeting self esteem.Ideals of modern day sexism are a huge problem in our society. From a young age girls are taught our bodies are always sexualized and we must cover them. Students shouldn t have to feel ashamed of what they re wearing, and they shouldn t have to hide their bodies. When staff and administrators aim at girls whose dresses may not be a full knee length or shoulder straps that aren t quite three fingers; it effects their body image and their self worth. This not only affects attitudes inside the school, but outside as well. Girls are viewed as a distraction the more we scold and repudiate girls on how they dress, the more boys will begin to as well. Students feel ridiculed and ashamed of what teachers, admins, and even other students say about their choices in clothing, or the fact of them being dress coded. Businesses and other professional places will want employees to dress appropriately, but is it appropriate to ask someone to change because their skirt is too distracting for other workers? One of them talks about having sex with a skin and saying how wild it is while smiling and sipping on his coffee with no cares about who overhears him (DeConnick 195). It shows how the men have little shame in what they say and are proud of themselves for doing such things. Directly after that there is a close up of the larger woman. This forces the reader to focus on her face and her face alone. From this image you can see the pure anger and frustration in her face from what these men are saying. By using this tactic, the writer is amplifying the emotion in order to ensure that the reader does not have a chance to miss this important detail. Following that we see the news report continue on about the parasite conveying it in a way that is positive and makes it sound as if it is something that everyone should experience. • 10. Essay On Prisons In The 1800 s We have changed for the better. During the 1800 s prisons were horrendous; the general condition of these prisons were disgusting. To add onto that, the prisoners were not even treated like people. These prisons in the 1800 s were sort of as if the guards and high authority figures had a tight leash and the prisoners would be on the end of the leash, being under complete control of the higher ups. Why, were prisons this bad? Why, were prisoners treated like pets? Well, today we will go over all the basics of prisons in the 1800 s by looking at their designs, what the rules/regulations were in place, and what punishments were put in place for the prisoners. To start things off, we will look at the overall design of prisons in the 1800 s. First, the overall look of an average prisonhad a center point and cells would surround and also face the center point. The point of the center point was so that the guards could be in one area and look outwards to see all the cells at once. If you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, if you re looking to get laid tonight, don t choose Keurig Green Mountain coffee for your sweet nothings. Keurig Green Mountain Coffee is a waste of desire, the brew is weak and watery, there is no fine line between bitter or acidic and overly creamy, and the lasting residue is something you don t want on your tongue. This was the greatest experience of my life, I was finally getting to see my hero, Paul McCartney. While most kids of the generation look up to the the likes of Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande, I differ. My hero has integrity, he stands up for what he believes in, even if it s not a popular opinion. Even better is his ability to inspire, his lyrics and rhetoric make people change for the better. A true hero has the ability to make people act, not by force, but because they want to. It is not easy to stand up for what one believes in when he is criticised by the public or media. Being able to stand against the regular cultural norms and do what is right is a strong identifier of integrity, and that is what Paul McCartney does. The greatest example of this was in the late 60 s, when Paul was a Beatle. This was the stadium era, a time for concert goers that was ushered in by The Beatles. The unfortunate piece of the however, was the fact that this era still involved segregation. Paul and the Beatles would not stand for this tolerance, the most amazing piece to keep in mind is that at the time they were just teenagers. They showed integrity when after hearing that a concert of theirs would be segregated they released this statement We never play to segregated audiences and we aren t going to start now. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The opposite of a perfect completion is another market structure called a monopoly. A monopoly is a situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service. By definition, monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition, which often results in high prices and inferior products (Investopedia, 2014). A characteristic of this market structure is when there is a single supplier, which carries a unique product, or service, which dominates the entire market. There is a high barrier to entry in a monopolistic market due to other firms being unable to enter the market easily to provide the product or service at a competitive price. A monopolistic competition describes a common market structure in which firms have many competitors or sellers, but each one sells a vaguely distinctive product or service. One of this market structure s characteristics is that each individual firm makes independent decisions about price and output, based on its product, its market, and its costs of production (Economics Online, 2015). Another characteristic is there is freedom to enter or leave the market, since there are no major barriers to entry or exit. The opposite of this market structure is an oligopoly. Oligopoly means few sellers. Oligopoly is the market structure in which there are only a few firms or a few firms dominate the market (Amacher Pate, 2013). We all sat in folding chairs, the lights went down, and Walt spent the next four hours telling us the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The study selected records of patients admitted to the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) between September 1997 and August 2008 in a consecutive manner until a specific number was obtained. In this study, the number was 297. The study excluded 62 records that did not fit the sampling requirements. The final samplewas n = 235 (Salinas et al., 2012). When using consecutive sampling techniques, the researcher includes all patients who agree to participate, provided that they meet specific pre established criteria. The researcher will stop the selection process when the desired sample is achieved. This sampling technique is similar to the convenience sampling technique except, that it aims to represent the whole cohort of the population (Fain, 2013). It is considered the most reliable non probability sampling technique. This sampling method is more credible and possesses a higher validity level than any other non probability sampling method. It also decreases the possibility of researcher s bias. However, this sampling technique faces the same issue of all the non probability sampling techniques as the possibility of bias is always present (Fain, 2013). Another drawback of the consecutive sampling technique lies within the possibility that the response rate and the type of individuals responding may influence the findings.
