Biography Of Glenn T. Seaborg
Glenn T. Seaborg was born into an educated family in Ishpeming, Michigan in 1912. When Seaborg
was ten, in 1922, the family moved to California in order to seek new opportunities. In high school, he
had no exposure to science and, therefore, little knowledge of its possibilities (290). Dwight Reid, the
teacher of his first chemistry course captured his imagination and caused him to realize his passion.
After graduation, he attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), due to its free
tuition and his family s financial situation. Financial hardships were common throughout Seaborg s
childhood and early adulthood due to the Great Depression. However, these financial barriers
exhibited throughout the book represent his ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adventure s in the Atomic Age displays the idea that financial barriers and difficult courses should not
be what is stopping someone from being successful in the field of science. Scientists would feel a
sense of purpose and inner satisfaction even if their efforts were not important to the world in which
we live. In actuality, of course, there is no group of persons on whom society as a whole depends so
heavily (292). Seaborg began working with one of the pioneers of nuclear medicine, Joe Hamilton,
while attending Berkley. Hamilton needed a radioisotope that had a half life long enough to be useful
in dealing with in the human body; a half life that was about a week. Seaborg and his long time friend
and partner, Jack Livingwood, used targets of tellurium and bombarded it with deuterons and some
with neutrons to reveal iodine 131, which had a half life of eight days. This element held major
sentimental value to Seaborg due to its aid in his mother s cure of hyperthyroidism. Iodine 131 is a
major component still today in cancer treatment, particularly thyroid cancer. Seaborg and Livingwood
also discovered cobalt 60, which is also a critical medical isotope. Cobalt 60 emits gamma radiation
which in turn focuses directly on cancer cells to destroy it. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have
had their cancers treated by cobalt 60 irradiation, and it is also used to sterilize medical products and
equipment (36). Shortly

Fate In The Play Oedipus By William Winter
Fate is always there. It always has, and it always will be there. We all can choose the decisions we
make, but fate cannot be changed, since it has already been predetermined. What happens will happen,
but what changes will not change fate. Fate is also what changes you, if you think about it. All the
events that have happened in the years of you being alive lead up to today; to who you are. All the
decisions you ve made would end up driving fate into taking its own toll on future, driving up to
where you currently are and making you who you are Fate is character William Winter. In the play
Oedipus by Sophocles, Jocasta s (who is Oedipus s wife and mother) character would wind up
changing because of fate. She did not choose for or expect for things to have change in such a
negative way. Jocasta was forced to see her husband figure out that he was married to his mother She
begged Oedipus not to go any further in the search of his true identity. Perhaps she did this because
she was romantically in love with Oedipus, or maybe because she wanted things to stay as they were.
This shows that Jocasta is secretive. When she found out that the prophecies (that were told about
Oedipus) were true, she automatically tried to hide it from Oedipus Or more so push Oedipus from the
truth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oedipus you must stop. I beg you stop!... I pray to god you never see who you are!... These are the last
words I will ever speak, ever Oedipus. (Sophocles|| 1344 45, 50,56,57). It was too painful for Jocasta
to watch the truth slowly yet quickly unfold right in front of Oedipus, so she ran off. Jocasta was
afraid to face her fate, and she was probably also ashamed since Oedipus would soon catch up to the
truth... There was no running from fate, or more so the truth

Down with Downloading
Throughout the whole time when you were able to gain access to free downloadable music, you have
been able to by pass the purchasing of music, but has it been morally right? People always insist that
download is great, but are you thinking of who you re talking it from. The artists are the ones losing
there money as well as positive recognition. Musicians should obviously get a cut as should small
record stores who are obviously going to lose out when the big chains all get together on this
(newsfactor.com). Also, the factor that you have to pay for theses programs, you mine as well go to

It s the same thing, people going into the computers and logging on and stealing our music, Brittany
Spears declares. The music industry struggles through one of its worst periods ever. CD sales declined
5 percent last year and are down an additional 7 percent this year (http://www.accessatlanta.com).
It appears to the press that the new Eminem CD was coming out. Two weeks prior to the CD was
coming out, people on the internet were trading and swapping the album. This is an outrage and these
are things that are occurring all the time to hurt the artists hard worked time and effort. If I m putting
my heart and all my time into music, I expect to get rewarded for that, Eminem says in a statement on
MUSIC s Web site. It s hard to stop the people from doing this, but there has to be some way to limit
this, even if takes time and money.
There have been several attempts to stop the illegal downloading process. One way they want to pass
the free downloading factor is to make sites charge a minimum fee to use the program. The biggest
problem with that are that all these illegal sites doesn t charge a fee, and have a more diverse selection
than the sites you have to pay for. So in doing this, basically will bring in the suckers and will detract
the people who know otherwise. Other companies such as Kazaa or Morpheous will charge a

Dorian Gray Choices
As J.K Rowling once said, It is our choices... that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities .
An individual s choices are reflective who they are and what they may become. In The Picture of
Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, Dorian s pivotal decision to strike a Faustian Bargain causes him to
incessantly make poor choices that eventually lead to his demise. This is illustrated through Dorian s
decision to befriend Lord Henry, become engaged to Sybil Vane, ignore his discovery of the portraits
power, and lastly his decision to murder Basil Hallward. In each of these cases, Dorian makes
increasingly worse choices that ultimately result in his destruction. To begin with, Dorian s decision to
befriend Lord Henry is the first choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first place, Dorian s intentions with Sybil were not genuine. This is illustrated when Lord Henry
inquires about Sybil from Dorian; I will tell you, Harry; but you mustn t be unsympathetic about it.
After all, it never would have happened if I had not met you. You filled me with a wild desire to know
everything about life. For days after I met you, something seemed to throb in my veins (35). He later
on continues to say; You said to me once that pathos left you unmoved, but that beauty, mere beauty ,
could fill your eyes with tears. I tell you, Harry, I could hardly see this girl for the mist of tears that
came across me (37). From this it is evident that Dorian s feelings towards Sybil were insincere.
Dorian pursues her out of the sake of curiosity Lord Henry evokes in him. The idea of love and
passion now greatly appeal to Dorian although he himself doesn t fully comprehend what it is. The
idea of what Sybil Vane could mean to him draws him to her. Also, under the continuous influence of
Lord Henry Dorian now feels that beauty is the most important aspect in life. One of the sole reasons
he is drawn to Sybil is because of her exceptional beauty and her artistic talents. As a result, this leads
to Dorian s feelings for Sybil to be misplaced. He does not know anything about her yet due to his
yearning for love, as well as a heightened

A Report For The Management Team Of An Organization Of My...
Information security is a critical issue for all organisations
I have been asked to write a report for the management team of an organisation of my choice. I will be
exploring the critical issues of information security within that organisation. To help with my research
I will be outlining the security risks, safeguards and contingency plans in case of a breach. The
technological application I will be focusing on is Email.
Executive Summary
To summarise, I have researched the history of Lloyds Bank, the general overview of how the
organisations information security is maintained and what methods and procedures they have in place.
I have talked about the security risks and how the bank can ensure that their company is fully secure
and how they can certify the protection of their customers.
I researched about the safeguards and the different types of methods that can be put in place to ensure
security. The last section explores what contingency plans are for damage limitations on the event of a
breach.
Overview
The organisation I have chosen is Lloyds Bank. According to (Wikipedia, 2015), Lloyds Bank is a
British retail bank with branches across England and Wales. It has traditionally been considered one of
the Big Four clearing banks .
Lloyds Bank was founded in 1765 in Birmingham , the bank then prolonged during the 19th and 20th
century and invaded smaller bank companies. In the mid 90 s it combined with the Trustee Savings
Bank and traded as Lloyds TSB Bank plc

The South And North Water Diversion Project
The South to North Water Diversion Project in China, established by Moa Zedong in 1952, is a water
diversion project that would divert 44.8 billion cubic meters of water annually to the drier north of
China ( South to North Water ). The project would link China s four main rivers the Yangtze, Yellow
River, Huaihe and Haihe. China plans on doing this by constructing three diversion routes moving
through the south to north ( South to North Water ). It would stretch across the central, eastern and
western parts of the country ( South to North Water ). This project is expected to cost around $62
billion dollars and take around 50 more years to complete ( South to North Water ). By trying to divert
the rivers and create an equal distribution of water, the project raises many environmental concerns
but has many positives. This paper will evaluate the different perspectives of the ecomodernist and
resilience theory. This will be shown by analyzing each perspective, evaluating the different concerns
and analyzing how each perspective would respond to the water diversion project. Ecomodernist s
believe that modernization is the major tool to resolving environmental issues. Ecomodernist s feel as
though society needs to always progress and that humanity cannot ever slow down or else
development would stop completely. Ecomodernist s view modernity as the human separation from
mastery over nature (Taylor). This perspective stresses the idea of using our technological and

Forest Deforestation Essay
Forest plays an essential role for local livelihood practices and considered as an important source of
national revenue as well. However, in developing countries such as Indonesia, forest degradation has
become at an alarming rate as a result of the over exploitation, unsustainable practices, forest fires,
and non eco friendly development projects in the forested areas like forest conversion into mining and
monoculture plantation. Massive deforestation naturally results in biodiversity losses and in many
places leads to soil erosion, siltation and damage of the forests hydrological functions, thus worsening
food security and compromising forests future economic and environmental attributes [1] and it has
been reported that Indonesia lost more than 6 million hectares of natural forest between 2000 and
2012 [2]. Not only rich in biological resources (10% of the world s remaining flowering plants
species, 12% of mammal species, 16% of reptile species, 25% of fish species and 17% of bird
species), these forests are also home to tens of millions of Indonesian citizens. Many, if not most of
these citizens are indigenous people with culturally rich and diverse customs and traditions [3].
Forest ecosystems provide homes and sources of livelihood for a majority of the indigenous peoples of
Indonesia. Indigenous peoples make significant contributions to the conservation and sustainable
management of forest ecosystems, nevertheless, rapid and growing deforestation rates in Indonesia

The Mormon Myth
The Mormon faith otherwise known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was founded
in the early 19th century in upstate New York. The mormon prophet and founder Joseph Smith found
golden plates that introduced a previously unknown third section of the bible. However, Mormonism
receives a heavy amount of criticism due to the fact that Smith told his disciples that only he could see
the plates, consequently, there is no proof of the plates existence. The religion itself is founded upon
the experiential aspect of religion. The founder of the religion, Joseph Smith, was visited by an angel
named Moroni and told of the location of golden plates and two stones; these plates were previously
unknown teachings of god written in a language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are prohibited as caffeine can be considered as a mind altering substance. Due to this rule, drugs and
alcohol are prohibited as well save for medical reasoning. Gambling and other acts considered crude
are not prohibited either. To be ethical one must do all things for god and serve him in life, to
transcend the human condition one must do this. Earth is simply a test to make sure one is worthy of
receiving eternal life with the heavenly father. One attains salvation the same way they transcend the

The Potential Of The Se Re Innovations
3. Literature Review 3.1 Potential for the SE RE innovations SE RE is a fairly new concept but many
researches proves the high potential of its development. First of all, embracing the social values is the
aim of social enterprises, including the environmental sector such as using green energy, recycling or
tracking the fuel poverty. Moreover, growing state support for developing RET and the technical
reserve of RETs (like unmanaged woodlands, garden waste going to landfill, etc.) (Kellett, 2007), are
giving SE a potential market to explore (Van der Horst, 2008). The Northern Periphery Programme
energy cluster has highlighted that social entrepreneurship has not been yet fully utilized in renewable
energy solutions (SECRE, 2013). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned in Section ‎
2.1, more constraints may appear including finance, staff, management,
marketing, legal status, etc. Many case studies state, as most investors prefer established and
commercially viable enterprises more than start ups and smaller enterprises, it is difficult to access
capital (Smith, at el., 2014). Moreover, many social enterprises cannot fund themselves entirely
through sales or investment to get a share in traditional financial markets, which resulting in a
financial social return gap (Bugg Levine, at el., 2012). The hybrid nature also brings challenges to its
management level. Except establishing and legitimating organization, managers also have to find
suitable way to committed volunteers and employers and enlarged governance structures (Borzaga, at
el., 2001). The sorry state of the non profit directors (Appendix ‎
G) is shown in the recent survey,
which is among 924 nonprofit directors carried out by Stanford researchers (HBR, 2015). Human
resources is also one of the challenges social enterprises need to face. Lack of expertise in business
planning, legal and marketing skills is one reason. Also, hard to provide competitive salaries and even
relying on staff commitment to the social mission to make up it, may lead to staff shortage (Smith, at
el., 2014). Social

Knossos Research Paper
Knossos is a palace that was first discovered in 1878 and excavated first in 1851 for 35 years by Sir
Arthur Evans. The site was occupied roughly around 2000 B.C. The site is located on the island of
Crete in Greece. The site has been destroyed and rebuilt twice due to catastrophes such as earthquakes,
tsunamis, and fire, but its not sure to what is actual natural disaster it was.
Knossos was inhabited by the Minoan civilization and was a very important city state. The city had
approximately 100,000 citizens. The city of Knossos flourished with trade and commerce with other
cities on the island of Crete. Knossos had flourished until around 1375 B.C.E where a volcano on the
island of Thera erupted which led to Knossos being abandoned.

Roppongi Hills Essay
Roppongi Hills in Tokyo is often mentioned as one of the largest and most successful city renewal
projects that have ever been made after World WarⅡin Japan. The project started in 1984 and took
about 17 years to complete. The plan involved the city government, the land developer Mori Building
Co., and the residents living in the construction area. Just to reach agreements with 500 right holders,
the company had spent over 15 years ( Roppongi Hills. ). The concept of the renewal plan seems
totally opposite from that of Jane Jacobs, but there is a point in the history of this Roppongi renewal

The site provides almost everything that a person needs for living and working in Tokyo. The most
distinct feature of Roppongi Hills, however, is not their immense and luxurious looks, but the
enormously long and complicated process to compete the project which may be unimaginable for Jane
Jacobs. In 1986, TV Asahi Co., which owned the main part of the location, decided to make a new
headquarters building there and consulted the Minato Ward Office and Mori Building Co. The Ward
suggested that they should also redevelop the surrounding area since it was packed with wooden
houses, small apartments, and condominiums with narrow streets which made it difficult for fire
engines to come into the area in an emergency. After the district was officially designated as a
redevelopment inducement area by Tokyo Metropolitan Government in the same year, Mori Building
started to negotiate with the residents there. According to Mori Building, their first contact with the
residents was totally unwelcoming. Most of the residents did not listen to them at all, but after their
repeated visits at each resident s house at least once in two weeks, many of them had gradually opened
their hearts and listened to what the developer said. The company explained to them that the plan was
not a buyout. It s the joint reconstruction of their houses and apartments. The company opened an

Examine the Effects of Globalisation on China
Examine the effects of globalisation on China
The process of globalisation in China has been a rapid one. China s exponential growth since the fall
of Mao has lead to increased international influence with China now operating on an international
scale.
Economically globalisation began in 1978 following Deng Xiaoping s Open Door policy. This opened
up China to foreign investment and the international markets. This lead to an influx of transnational
corporations, which was advantageous to Chinese companies who benefitted from technology transfer.
However, the TNC s moved to China for its cheap labour and manufacture, which presented an ethical
dilemma for China. Leaders had to decide whether to compromise on a lack of investment and poor ...

Globalisation has lead to the development of SEZ s along with Deng s Open Door policy.
Globalisation has given these SEZ s both advantages and disadvantages and has lead to rapid
economic growth but often compromised on the Chinese people.
Socially, globalisation has both increased levels of Westernisation and increased development in the
interior. Increased Westernisation has lead to both positive impacts with over 100 million Chinese
have internet access, with 360 million owning a mobile phone, whilst 380 million own a TV.
However, this can mean a loss of culture with the younger generation less willing to retain traditional
practices like farming and rice planting, but instead want to move into the city and enjoy a western
style living. Globalisation has lead to both the benefits from Westernisation eg McDonald s
sponsoring the 2008 Olympics, but also the negatives including a loss of cultures and traditional
Chinese practices. Development along the interior as also resulted from globalisation. As China has
been put under pressure to reduce rural urban inequality, it has begun development in rural areas. This
has lead to the transformation of White Horse Village into a major city. This has meant that the old
village was demolished and new high rise buildings replaced rice paddies. This has increased growth
in the area and had meant an influx of migrants back

They became legends in American military history with their acts of bravery and heroics they showed
in the face of the German army. From Normandy to Hitler s Eagle s Nest, their fame grew with each

We went to the top of Currahee and back with a couple of ambulances following, and men vomiting

Ambrose s argument the Easy Company was the best company in the Airborne s was Sobel s
determination to see them as the best company; demonstrated by some of the drills and inspections he
would do with the men. Ambrose stated there were many times before and after a run, Sobel would

Critical Analysis of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks...
The book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, was a nonfiction story about the
life of Henrietta Lacks, who died of cervical cancer in 1951. Henrietta did not know that her doctor
took a sample of her cancer cells a few months before she died. Henrietta cells that called HeLa were
the first immortal human cells ever grown in a laboratory (Skloot 22). In fact, the cells from her cervix
are the most important advances in medical research. Rebecca was interested to write this story
because she was anxious with the story of HeLa cells. When she was in biology class, her professor
named Donald Defler gave a lecture about cells. Defler tells the story about Henrietta Lacks and HeLa
cells. However, the professor ended his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gey found a cell that grows with mythological intensity in the lab. Usually, every cell will die or
survive for a while in the lab. However, the Henrietta s cancer cells seemed unstoppable as long as
they had food and warmth (Skloot 65). This was the first immortal human cells that they called HeLa.
This name came from the first two letters of the name Henrietta Lacks.
After Gey succeeded to find the immortal human cells, he started to sell HeLa cells without Henrietta
s consent. Gey sells HeLa cells to researchers in Texas, India, New York, and many others place
(Skloot 84). He did not give any credit to Henrietta. He only told Henrietta that her cells will help

Comparison Of My Math Strengths And Weaknesses
My Math Strengths and Weaknesses
As I am approaching the end of my educational career, it is time for me to evaluate how well I will do
teaching a subject I struggled in elementary school, math. Math is a subject I had a love hate
relationship with. I liked it when I was good and hated it when I struggled. I noticed this pattern not
only because of my abilities, but also of my teacher s abilities to teach the subject. My goal is not to be
a genius in math but I do want to be able to help and problem solve when my students have a struggle.
From kindergarten to the beginning of 1st grade, the math topic that is worked on is addition and
subtraction. According to the Texas Education Association, in kindergarten adding and subtraction ...

TEA say that students start doing repeated addition toward the end of second grade to help them
transition to multiplication in third grade (TEA, 2012). When I was in school I struggled in
multiplication, but I did not give up. What helped me get better was practice until I was able to master
each multiplication term. With the takeover of calculators, I became rusty, but in order to teach my
students, I will have to practice again just like when I was in elementary school. I also have to be
ready to take a step back and go over addition although the TEKS says to move on to multiplication.
I excel in shapes, and for elementary, shapes are taught all through out. In first grade the focus is to
identify and classifying 2 dimension shapes. In second grade they move on to composing their own 2
dimensional figure and classify 3 dimensional figures. (TEA, 2017.) For students just starting to see
shapes only know square and rectangle. There are far more variations of this common shapes like
parallelograms, and they might get confused. What I will do to prepare myself to teach these students

What Is Lennie s True Friendship
In the book Of Mice and Men the two main characters Lennie and George are just simple men trying
to find work during the American Great Depression, They encounter many challenges on their
adventure, but through it all both main characters remain true friends. This is why I feel that Lennie
and George have true friendship. The first example of George and Lennie s true friendship is the
loyalty and trust that George and Lennie share. George and Lennie live in a time when there wasn t a
great deal of money going around. They catch a break and get a job on a ranch. When they get there,
the owner of the ranch interviews them about their experience and other work related items. The boss
begins to notice Lennie s mental handicap so George explains that he was kicked in the head by a
horse as a child but that he is a hell of a good worker. I feel that this shows one of the most important
traits of true friendship, loyalty and trust(Karbo). George is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both Lennie and George share a dream of getting out of the West and settling down in a little house
where they can live, be free, do what they want, and go where they want(Steinbeck 22). Even though
their adventure leads them to hard times and hard work, both still hold onto this dream. This shared
intimacy is one of the cornerstones of true friendship(Karbo). This dream is one of the things that
keeps them together. Some may debate that their friendship cannot possibly be a true friendship. Why
would one true friend kill another? True friendship, remember, entails loyalty and trust and
understanding(Karbo). George knows if Lennie goes to jail or to an asylum, he is not going to live a
good life. Lennie will be abused and lead to suffer in those conditions. Only a true friend would be
willing to protect their friend from a life of pain and suffering, even if it involved killing them to

The Supreme Court s 1954 Brown V. Board Of Education
The Supreme Court s 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision ending de jure segregation was a
watershed moment in American history. The hope was that by striking down state laws that maintained
racially segregated public schools, America would embark on a new course leading to integrated
public schools. The Court recognized the critical role that public schools play in shaping American
culture and promoting the well being of the nation. In addition to ensuring Constitutional rights to
equal protection under the law, the Brown decision paved a path for students to receive educational
services in integrated learning environments that reflect the diversity of American society. In the

The Principles And Purpose Of Interactive Design
Search Method A wide search across the University library, Google Scholar and ACM Digital Library
and to widen the search out to popular literature from various magazines, blogs and articles was
conducted to discover information about the process of Design Thinking. To ensure the search results
were not overwhelmingly numerous, speech marks on the phrase Design Thinking were used before
entering it on the search engines. The purpose of this is to ensure there is appropriate information
returned. The books selected were Design Studies by Catherine Stones published in 2010, [8]; The
Principles Purpose of Interactive Design published by Jamie Steane in 2014 about the different ways
individuals design think [6], as well as, the book Wicked Problems in Design Thinking by Richard
Buchanan, broader understanding defining Wicked Problem early 1992 [3]. The aim for selecting
these books is because of their informative nature and the range of dates over which they were
published, which provides more information, both quite recent and then more of a design classic from
1992 [3]. Moreover, Tim Brown discussed in the Harvard Business Review in 2008 Design Thinking,
[2] and, Jon Kolko wrote an article about 20 Design Thinking Comes of Age [2]. This gives a clear
idea of different ways of Design Thinking. And Phil Brown recently discussed Why Design Thinking

News Stories That Changed the World
Introduction Rendell, Hart and Hollar have said broadcasting the truth can improve the world, while
news that twists or denies realities of our existence can have momentous consequences. We believe
this concept and to demonstrate it we have complied 3 major news stories since the year 2000 that
have had a major impact on our society both nationally and internationally and both for better or for
worse. These three examples are not meant to be a collection of the most historic stories of the past 12
years; but rather to demonstrate the power the media holds. It s no secret that journalism is under
attack in a myriad of ways; particularly the notion that it deserves to exist as a governmental
watchdog. Another river has feed into this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was filling with Iraqi detainees, ranging from petty criminals to former intelligence operatives for

document and disclose the obvious mistreatment arising behind closed doors. It led to a series of
pieces, culminating in a shocking report on November 1, 2003, based on interviews with sex released
detainees. However, this story was swept under the rug and no major newspaper picked up on his
reporting after it appeared. The disproportionate weight of credibility given to the statements of U.S

months after Hanley s article, the conditions at Abu Ghraib finally became international news after
several photos were aired on CBS 60 Minutes II, showing soldiers taunting naked Iraqi prisoners
forced to assume humiliating positions. Two days later, in addition to the global firestorm that the

The Nursing And Midwifery Council
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2008) states that nursing care must be evidence or best
practise based. In order to excellently provide such care Boswell and Cannon (2009, p. 2 7) states that
nurses must base their delivery of care on the most current, up to date health information available and
rigorous nursing knowledge. According to Melnyk Fineout Overholt (2005) defines Evidence based
practise (EBP) as a problem solving approach to clinical practise that integrates: A systematic search
for and critical appraisal of the most relevant evidence to answer a burning clinical question, one s
own clinical expertise and patient preferences and values. The benefits of EBP include resolving
problems in the clinical setting; provide clinicians with evidence based data, introducing innovation,
Achieve excellence in care delivery and improves efficacy and reducing variation in clinical
performance.
It is therefore vital for students to be able to evaluate and critique research papers in order for them to
regulate the validity of a study and to apply theories to practise. A research critique measures the value
and importance of a study and this is going to be determined by evaluating the strengths and
weaknesses of the study (Brockopp Tolsma, 2003, p. 400). Critical appraisal is the process of carefully
and systematically examining research to judge its trustworthiness, and its value and relevance in a
particular context (Astin 2009). The aim of this essay is to

Vlad The Impaler, The True Dracula Essay
Vlad the Impaler, a.k.a. Vlad III, Dracula, Drakulya, or Tepes, was born in late 1431, in the citadel of

Emperor Sigismund. Vlad Dracul was also a knight in the Order of the Dragon, a secret fraternity
created in 1387 by the Emperor, sworn to uphold Christianity and defend the empire against the
Islamic Turks. Transylvania, along with Moldavia, and Wallachia, are now joined together as

Vlad Dracula formed an alliance with Hunyadi, in the hopes of persuading him he was the rightful
heir to the throne, but it wasn t until 1456, that Vlad Dracula would make his move, killing his father s

Easter Sunday feast, Vlad Dracula had all the boyar families who had been attending arrested. Those
who were in good health were condemned to a life of slavery, and put to work on the construction of
his Poenari Castle on the Arges river. Those who were old and weak were impaled for all to see. Thus
began Vlad the Impaler s reign of blood and terror. Construction of the castle was difficult work, and
many of the slaves died in the process. Many were forced to work naked, for their clothes had fallen
off from wear. Needless to say, Vlad Dracula in no way considered these people human beings, and he
treated them worse than animals, severely punishing and torturing his captives, whether or not they
had done anything to provoke him. He abhorred weakness of any kind, and was determined to be the

Strategy Implementation Process Paper
In everything that we do, we have used some kind of strategy (plan). From driving to the store, which
street to take to get there the fastest, to selecting that perfect item at the high tech store, the newest
digital gadget. It is in our nature to formulate this kind of behavior when we are given a choice. In an
organization it is much harder to accomplish that same behavior because there is more than one
individual in the process, but still possible to do. Strategy is a guide by which an organization moves
from a current state of affairs to a future desired state. In this paper I will explain the strategy
implementation concept of the basic model of strategic management that we can use to make this
happen. Strategy implementation is the process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
William Shakespeare used the word and the concept of death many times throughout his writing. The
poem, The Time of Year, is one of the many sonnets that Shakespeare wrote. It is also known as
Sonnet 73 . In Western literary traditions, sonnets have played an important role because of the works
of authors such as Francesco Petrarca (Petrarch) and William Shakespeare, (Weagly, 2016). The Time
of Year (Sonnet 73) by William Shakespeare, conveys the theme that the idea of losing someone could
create a stronger feeling of love while they are living here on Earth. All sonnets are written in a
specific pattern. They consist of three quatrains and a couplet. Every line has ten syllables and follows
an a, b scale pattern. In Sonnet 73 , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sonnet is slightly tragic in aspect, because it is on wishful thinking. In the autumn of his life and
getting close to death, his loved one sees that he does not have much time left but still loves him the
same. That is the meaning of true love. There is a melancholic tone of his life deteriorating in front of
him and while he has lived some days of pure joy in his youth. He remains focused on his death by
describing it with a more pessimistic point of view. Then, towards the end, he employs a tone of regret
which explains why he lives his dying days with pure negativity. He finishes with an instruction
directed towards his audience to live and appreciates life s light, and joy and love better than he did.
Even though it is not intentional, the poem is an inspiration to live well and flourish and to be
appreciative of what you have before it is too late. Shakespeare apparently wrote this sonnet at a time
of uneasiness. It is captivating to a loved one to see the lengthiness of his youth, by embodying
himself as a season, a day or a burning fire, and allegories the respect endings of all those three. It is a
difficult feeling to describe, when something that you used to have such love for is no longer
interesting to you, but Shakespeare metaphors describe it perfectly. His writing style, in keeping
Shakespearian form, is of flowing sentences and elaborate descriptions, offering metaphors within
metaphors. Throughout these descriptions his

The United States and Australia are both industrialized countries with both English speaking
populations with challenges of providing health care coverage. Differences and similarities can be

as Medicare that is designed for the population in different circumstances, and both populations use
private insurance. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the United States is attempting

Medicare, Australia s national public health insurance, provides universal health coverage for citizens
and permanent residents in addition to people with temporary visas from countries with which
Australia has reciprocal arrangements. Medicare covers inpatient care in public hospitals for free or
subsidized access to comprehensive medical services (Mossialos et al., 2015). Citizens may choose to
buy private insurance to cover more health care options and to cover items not covered under
Medicare for example ambulance services. Medicare gives Australian residents access to health care
and is partly funded by taxpayers who pay a Medicare levy of 2.0% of their taxable income (Ato,
n.d.). The first contact with health services one may need would involve a visit to a general
practitioner, who may refer the patient to a specialist, diagnostic testing, medication for the need to in
a public hospital. Australia s health care system involves public and private providers. The
government funds the public hospitals, whereas those in the private sector operate the private
hospitals. As of June 2014 over 47% of the population had private health insurance (PHIAC, 2014).
The public perception of the Australian medical system is generally positive and strongly favors a
universal public health system funded by the public (Hardie Critchley, 2008). In the United States the
passing of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, established the

Jaffe V. Samsung Elecs
Jaffé v. Samsung Elecs. Co.
Qimonda AG, a German semiconductor manufacturer, had patent cross licenses with many of its
competitors. Such licenses, in industries like electronics, allow parties in effect to have a truce with
respect to patents, so that they may proceed their respective businesses. Qimonda file bankruptcy and
ceased operations, so no longer needed the protection of the cross licenses. Rather, it terminated the
licenses under German bankruptcy law, to replace them with licenses under which it would receive
royalty payments. Qimonda filed a chapter 15 bankruptcy proceeding in the United States, to do the
same with its American licenses. The representative committed to re license Qimonda s patent
portfolio to the Licensees at a reasonable and nondiscriminatory ( RAND ) royalty. However, the
American courts held that US bankruptcy law did not allow licenses. Chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy
Code allows the representative of a foreign bankruptcy proceeding to file an ancillary proceeding in
the United States. It also allows broad recognition of orders entered in the foreign bankruptcy
proceeding. But the recognition is subject to certain safeguards. The US bankruptcy court may refuse
to apply the foreign order if the action would be manifestly contrary to the public policy of the United
States. In addition, the court must ensure that the interests of the creditors and other interested entities,
including the debtor, are sufficiently protected.

Billy s Top Trait By Billy Essay
Throughout the semester, Billy took on a vocal yet non leadership role. The biggest drawback of Billy
s participation was his frequent absences. Billy s top trait according to StrengthQuest is Competition. I
think Billy strongly showed Competition in both positive and negative ways. In both BizCafe and
other minor activities, competition acted as a motivator for Billy, being more engaged when more was
on the line. This was a benefit in direct competition, like the dice stacking game early on in the
semester. The competition with others helped Billy focus, brainstorming new ideas and strategies to
defeat the other groups. However, this became a drawback when less was on the line. In more
straightforward activities, like creating an advertisement for hiring employees, Billy would be less
creative and less engaged when there was no competition. In non competitive scenarios, Billy would
complete his part of the work and contribute, but he would be less driven and less creative.
While displaying some traits of Initiator Contributor, I think Billy s main role in our group was
Energizer. Having a gregarious personality, Billy naturally adds energy to group work. This was most
evident in highly collaborative group work like weekly BizCafe decisions. When Billy was in class
and engaged, he helped us stay on topic and try to find the best solution. He did this primarily by
supporting the strategies of others. A recent example of this was our decision for week eleven in
BizCafe. When

Analysis Of The Documentary Blackfish Essay
Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite in the documentary, Blackfish (2013), argues that captivity triggers
aggression in killer whales. Cowperthwaite supports her argument by demonstrating shocking footage
and emotional interviews to present a convincing case against keeping these animals in captivity and
for human entertainment. The author s purpose is to show the problems that are caused by captivity in
order to aware the audience that keeping killer whales in captivity affects their behavior mentally and
physically. The author writes in resentful tone to Sea World, the people who visited Sea World, and
those who were present during the killer whale incident. Gabriela Cowperthwaite argues that keeping
killer whales in captivity at SeaWorld affects their mentality due to how they are being treated. She
makes this argument by applying pathos, ethos, and logos. In beginning of the film, the appeal to
pathos affects the audience as we listen to what these former trainers have to say about how they
became interested in the job and what made them realize that a trainer was what they wanted to be. As
a little kid each of these trainers were inspired by commercials, TV channels, and visiting SeaWorld

where and how these killer whales were captured. According to the SeaWorld of Hurt website, Dr.

After reading the book Against The Tide by Cornelia Dean I think that the national policy for
governing developing coastlines should be dependent on an areas geologic features. In order to do
this, government officials would have to evaluate and create detailed reports to battle erosion in
specific areas rather than simply proposing a project that worked in a different place. In terms of
development, I think that if a project is going to be undertaken over a large area coastal geologists and
engineers should make small scale models of the region containing the planned infrastructure. After a

Reed should focus on developing better sleep hygiene. She should work on a nightmare protocol with
her psychologist to decrease nightmares, avoid eating or exercising within several hours of bedtime,
and leave all electronic devices outside of the bedroom. It may also be beneficial to incorporate some
light stretching, yoga, or meditation before bed. By decreasing her sleep deficit, Mrs. Reed s cognitive
function will likely increase, especially in regards to concentration and memory. It may also be

The World And Expanse Of Time
Throughout the semester, evaluating different eras and event across the world and expanse of time, we
have studied how individual players and their actions contribute to our understanding of history itself.
Many of our readings were historical accounts centralized on the lives of single players, and these
players roles in greater historical events.
The outbreak and entirety of WWI, serves as an example of how many individual players, and their
actions, contributed to the overall outcome of an all out war. In class, we discussed how there were a
number of major players whom helped contribute to the outbreak and subsequent events of WW1.
One of the key actors we examined, was the Emperor to Russia at the time, Nicholas II, and the
qualities attributed to him as an individual. These are the qualities which may have not only led to
Russia s involvement in WWI, but also can be attributed to Russia s loss in Russo Japanese War,
further destabilization of Russia s central government under Nicholas II, and ultimately the collapse of
the Russian Monarchy, all culminating in the 1917 Russian Revolution.
Nicholas II was the first born child of Emperor Alexander III of Russia, and being so, his upbringing
was a rather quite and isolated, though he maintained a close relationship with both his father and
mother. In 1881, Alexander II, Nicholas grandfather (and Emperor at the time) was assassinated by
revolutionaries, quickly making Nicholas heir apparent at the age of thirteen. Though

imported from Germany, called Frankfurters and eventually popularized and renamed ,hotdog, in the
U.S. In Chicago, there s a specialty hotdog that almost all Chicagoans and tourist eat. It s so special
that there are over thousand made in small food stands throughout Chicago. On February 8th, 2014, I
went to Donald s Famous Hotdogs in Chicago Illinois. Donald s is a small diner serving soup,
sandwiches, and hotdogs. I ordered the best item on the menu, the Chicago style hotdog. The Chicago
style hotdog stands out from the rest because it s delicious flavor, colorful presentation and variety of
condiments.
What separates Donald s Chicago style the other Chicago style hotdog is not the topping but the
fundamental idea of hot dog, the sausage. There are two types of hotdog sausages, wieners which tend
to contain pork and chicken or turkey. Theses sausages are inexpensive but lack in flavor while
frankfurters or franks tend to more expensive, nevertheless are all beef and strongly seasoned. Equally
important is the hotdog s casing. Traditional casing is made from the small intestines of sheep; it s
known as natural casing franks. These sausages have firm texture and have a signature snap that

Quentin Tarantino s Film Pulp Fiction
You Are What You Eat Food has evolved from so much more than a source of nutrition in today s
society. It contains culture, traditions, and is shared with others. Quentin Tarantino s movie, Pulp
Fiction, briefly brings light to the importance and uniqueness of food from different cultures. There is
a scene where two men, Vincent and Jules, sit in a car having small talk about food in Europe. Parts of
their conversation, however, contain some very resonant discussions of food, place, and identity.
Vincent: But you know what the funniest thing about Europe is? Jules: What? Vincent: It s the little
differences. I mean, they got the same shit over there that we got here, but it s just, just, there it s a
little different. Jules: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, however, it has become so much more. According to a research paper written by Martin
Lindstrom, Branding is all about building emotional ties between consumer and product. (pg. 85)
Emotional connections are made with the synergy of all five senses, and such those brands that are
communicating from a multi sensory brand platform have the greatest likelihood of forming emotional
connections between consumers and their product. (pg. 84); Food and Beverage companies exploit
this fact to sell their products. Consider the Kellogg s breakfast cereal that goes snap, crackle, and
pop: Rice Crispies. Researchers at a specialized Danish laboratories worked to create the particular
sound and feel of the crunch was identifiably Kellogg s. (pg. 85). The crunch, smell, and taste, of the
cereal is accompanied by the tactile feel in your mouth pairing all five senses into one bite. Without
the simultaneous stimulation of multiple sensory receptors, however, the cereal would not be as
memorable. Take watching a scary movie for example. Visuals paired with audio make for a very
scary movie, but if you turn the audio off, suddenly the movie isn t so scary anymore. What we have
learned from Kellogg s is that their success lies in mastering the synergy of all five senses. Food can
stimulate all five senses at the same time to bring back past memories. In Carlos Eire starts his book
with a very descriptive

  • 2. Biography Of Glenn T. Seaborg Glenn T. Seaborg was born into an educated family in Ishpeming, Michigan in 1912. When Seaborg was ten, in 1922, the family moved to California in order to seek new opportunities. In high school, he had no exposure to science and, therefore, little knowledge of its possibilities (290). Dwight Reid, the teacher of his first chemistry course captured his imagination and caused him to realize his passion. After graduation, he attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), due to its free tuition and his family s financial situation. Adventure s in the Atomic Age displays the idea that financial barriers and difficult courses should not be what is stopping someone from being successful in the field of science. Scientists would feel a sense of purpose and inner satisfaction even if their efforts were not important to the world in which we live. In actuality, of course, there is no group of persons on whom society as a whole depends so heavily (292). Seaborg began working with one of the pioneers of nuclear medicine, Joe Hamilton, while attending Berkley. Hamilton needed a radioisotope that had a half life long enough to be useful in dealing with in the human body; a half life that was about a week. Seaborg and his long time friend and partner, Jack Livingwood, used targets of tellurium and bombarded it with deuterons and some with neutrons to reveal iodine 131, which had a half life of eight days. This element held major sentimental value to Seaborg due to its aid in his mother s cure of hyperthyroidism. Iodine 131 is a major component still today in cancer treatment, particularly thyroid cancer. Seaborg and Livingwood also discovered cobalt 60, which is also a critical medical isotope. Cobalt 60 emits gamma radiation which in turn focuses directly on cancer cells to destroy it. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have had their cancers treated by cobalt 60 irradiation, and it is also used to sterilize medical products and equipment (36). Shortly ... We all can choose the decisions we make, but fate cannot be changed, since it has already been predetermined. What happens will happen, but what changes will not change fate. Fate is also what changes you, if you think about it. All the events that have happened in the years of you being alive lead up to today; to who you are. All the decisions you ve made would end up driving fate into taking its own toll on future, driving up to where you currently are and making you who you are Fate is character William Winter. In the play Oedipus by Sophocles, Jocasta s (who is Oedipus s wife and mother) character would wind up changing because of fate. She did not choose for or expect for things to have change in such a negative way. Jocasta was forced to see her husband figure out that he was married to his mother She begged Oedipus not to go any further in the search of his true identity. Perhaps she did this because she was romantically in love with Oedipus, or maybe because she wanted things to stay as they were. This shows that Jocasta is secretive. An individual s choices are reflective who they are and what they may become. In The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, Dorian s pivotal decision to strike a Faustian Bargain causes him to incessantly make poor choices that eventually lead to his demise. This is illustrated through Dorian s decision to befriend Lord Henry, become engaged to Sybil Vane, ignore his discovery of the portraits power, and lastly his decision to murder Basil Hallward. In each of these cases, Dorian makes increasingly worse choices that ultimately result in his destruction. To begin with, Dorian s decision to befriend Lord Henry is the first choice ... This is illustrated when Lord Henry inquires about Sybil from Dorian; I will tell you, Harry; but you mustn t be unsympathetic about it. After all, it never would have happened if I had not met you. You filled me with a wild desire to know everything about life. For days after I met you, something seemed to throb in my veins (35). He later on continues to say; You said to me once that pathos left you unmoved, but that beauty, mere beauty , could fill your eyes with tears. I tell you, Harry, I could hardly see this girl for the mist of tears that came across me (37). From this it is evident that Dorian s feelings towards Sybil were insincere. Dorian pursues her out of the sake of curiosity Lord Henry evokes in him. The idea of love and passion now greatly appeal to Dorian although he himself doesn t fully comprehend what it is. The idea of what Sybil Vane could mean to him draws him to her. Also, under the continuous influence of Lord Henry Dorian now feels that beauty is the most important aspect in life. One of the sole reasons he is drawn to Sybil is because of her exceptional beauty and her artistic talents. As a result, this leads to Dorian s feelings for Sybil to be misplaced. To help with my research I will be outlining the security risks, safeguards and contingency plans in case of a breach. The technological application I will be focusing on is Email. Executive Summary To summarise, I have researched the history of Lloyds Bank, the general overview of how the organisations information security is maintained and what methods and procedures they have in place. I have talked about the security risks and how the bank can ensure that their company is fully secure and how they can certify the protection of their customers. I researched about the safeguards and the different types of methods that can be put in place to ensure security. The last section explores what contingency plans are for damage limitations on the event of a breach. Overview The organisation I have chosen is Lloyds Bank. According to (Wikipedia, 2015), Lloyds Bank is a British retail bank with branches across England and Wales. It has traditionally been considered one of the Big Four clearing banks . Lloyds Bank was founded in 1765 in Birmingham , the bank then prolonged during the 19th and 20th century and invaded smaller bank companies. • 8. The South And North Water Diversion Project The South to North Water Diversion Project in China, established by Moa Zedong in 1952, is a water diversion project that would divert 44.8 billion cubic meters of water annually to the drier north of China ( South to North Water ). The project would link China s four main rivers the Yangtze, Yellow River, Huaihe and Haihe. China plans on doing this by constructing three diversion routes moving through the south to north ( South to North Water ). It would stretch across the central, eastern and western parts of the country ( South to North Water ). This project is expected to cost around $62 billion dollars and take around 50 more years to complete ( South to North Water ). By trying to divert the rivers and create an equal distribution of water, the project raises many environmental concerns but has many positives. This paper will evaluate the different perspectives of the ecomodernist and resilience theory. This will be shown by analyzing each perspective, evaluating the different concerns and analyzing how each perspective would respond to the water diversion project. Ecomodernist s believe that modernization is the major tool to resolving environmental issues. Ecomodernist s feel as though society needs to always progress and that humanity cannot ever slow down or else development would stop completely. Ecomodernist s view modernity as the human separation from mastery over nature (Taylor). This perspective stresses the idea of using our technological and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Forest Deforestation Essay Forest plays an essential role for local livelihood practices and considered as an important source of national revenue as well. However, in developing countries such as Indonesia, forest degradation has become at an alarming rate as a result of the over exploitation, unsustainable practices, forest fires, and non eco friendly development projects in the forested areas like forest conversion into mining and monoculture plantation. Massive deforestation naturally results in biodiversity losses and in many places leads to soil erosion, siltation and damage of the forests hydrological functions, thus worsening food security and compromising forests future economic and environmental attributes [1] and it has been reported that Indonesia lost more than 6 million hectares of natural forest between 2000 and 2012 [2]. Many, if not most of these citizens are indigenous people with culturally rich and diverse customs and traditions [3]. Literature Review 3.1 Potential for the SE RE innovations SE RE is a fairly new concept but many researches proves the high potential of its development. Moreover, growing state support for developing RET and the technical reserve of RETs (like unmanaged woodlands, garden waste going to landfill, etc.) (Kellett, 2007), are giving SE a potential market to explore (Van der Horst, 2008). In order to excellently provide such care Boswell and Cannon (2009, p. 2 7) states that nurses must base their delivery of care on the most current, up to date health information available and rigorous nursing knowledge. According to Melnyk Fineout Overholt (2005) defines Evidence based practise (EBP) as a problem solving approach to clinical practise that integrates: A systematic search for and critical appraisal of the most relevant evidence to answer a burning clinical question, one s own clinical expertise and patient preferences and values. The benefits of EBP include resolving problems in the clinical setting; provide clinicians with evidence based data, introducing innovation, Achieve excellence in care delivery and improves efficacy and reducing variation in clinical performance. From driving to the store, which street to take to get there the fastest, to selecting that perfect item at the high tech store, the newest digital gadget. It is in our nature to formulate this kind of behavior when we are given a choice. In an organization it is much harder to accomplish that same behavior because there is more than one individual in the process, but still possible to do. Strategy is a guide by which an organization moves from a current state of affairs to a future desired state. In this paper I will explain the strategy implementation concept of the basic model of strategic management that we can use to make this happen. Strategy implementation is the process ... • 30. Shakespeare s Sonnet 73 William Shakespeare used the word and the concept of death many times throughout his writing. The poem, The Time of Year, is one of the many sonnets that Shakespeare wrote. It is also known as Sonnet 73 . In Western literary traditions, sonnets have played an important role because of the works of authors such as Francesco Petrarca (Petrarch) and William Shakespeare, (Weagly, 2016). The Time of Year (Sonnet 73) by William Shakespeare, conveys the theme that the idea of losing someone could create a stronger feeling of love while they are living here on Earth. All sonnets are written in a specific pattern. They consist of three quatrains and a couplet. Every line has ten syllables and follows an a, b scale pattern. In Sonnet 73 , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sonnet is slightly tragic in aspect, because it is on wishful thinking. In the autumn of his life and getting close to death, his loved one sees that he does not have much time left but still loves him the same. That is the meaning of true love. There is a melancholic tone of his life deteriorating in front of him and while he has lived some days of pure joy in his youth. He remains focused on his death by describing it with a more pessimistic point of view. Then, towards the end, he employs a tone of regret which explains why he lives his dying days with pure negativity. He finishes with an instruction directed towards his audience to live and appreciates life s light, and joy and love better than he did. Even though it is not intentional, the poem is an inspiration to live well and flourish and to be appreciative of what you have before it is too late. Shakespeare apparently wrote this sonnet at a time of uneasiness. It is captivating to a loved one to see the lengthiness of his youth, by embodying himself as a season, a day or a burning fire, and allegories the respect endings of all those three. It is a difficult feeling to describe, when something that you used to have such love for is no longer interesting to you, but Shakespeare metaphors describe it perfectly. His writing style, in keeping Shakespearian form, is of flowing sentences and elaborate descriptions, offering metaphors within metaphors. Throughout these descriptions his ... Medicare, Australia s national public health insurance, provides universal health coverage for citizens and permanent residents in addition to people with temporary visas from countries with which Australia has reciprocal arrangements. Medicare covers inpatient care in public hospitals for free or subsidized access to comprehensive medical services (Mossialos et al., 2015). Citizens may choose to buy private insurance to cover more health care options and to cover items not covered under Medicare for example ambulance services. Medicare gives Australian residents access to health care and is partly funded by taxpayers who pay a Medicare levy of 2.0% of their taxable income (Ato, n.d.). The first contact with health services one may need would involve a visit to a general practitioner, who may refer the patient to a specialist, diagnostic testing, medication for the need to in a public hospital. • 32. Jaffe V. Samsung Elecs Jaffé v. Samsung Elecs. Co. Qimonda AG, a German semiconductor manufacturer, had patent cross licenses with many of its competitors. Such licenses, in industries like electronics, allow parties in effect to have a truce with respect to patents, so that they may proceed their respective businesses. Qimonda file bankruptcy and ceased operations, so no longer needed the protection of the cross licenses. Rather, it terminated the licenses under German bankruptcy law, to replace them with licenses under which it would receive royalty payments. Qimonda filed a chapter 15 bankruptcy proceeding in the United States, to do the same with its American licenses. The representative committed to re license Qimonda s patent portfolio to the Licensees at a reasonable and nondiscriminatory ( RAND ) royalty. However, the American courts held that US bankruptcy law did not allow licenses. Chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code allows the representative of a foreign bankruptcy proceeding to file an ancillary proceeding in the United States. It also allows broad recognition of orders entered in the foreign bankruptcy proceeding. But the recognition is subject to certain safeguards. The US bankruptcy court may refuse to apply the foreign order if the action would be manifestly contrary to the public policy of the United States. In addition, the court must ensure that the interests of the creditors and other interested entities, including the debtor, are sufficiently protected. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Billy s Top Trait By Billy Essay Throughout the semester, Billy took on a vocal yet non leadership role. The biggest drawback of Billy s participation was his frequent absences. Billy s top trait according to StrengthQuest is Competition. I think Billy strongly showed Competition in both positive and negative ways. In both BizCafe and other minor activities, competition acted as a motivator for Billy, being more engaged when more was on the line. This was a benefit in direct competition, like the dice stacking game early on in the semester. The competition with others helped Billy focus, brainstorming new ideas and strategies to defeat the other groups. However, this became a drawback when less was on the line. In more straightforward activities, like creating an advertisement for hiring employees, Billy would be less creative and less engaged when there was no competition. In non competitive scenarios, Billy would complete his part of the work and contribute, but he would be less driven and less creative. While displaying some traits of Initiator Contributor, I think Billy s main role in our group was Energizer. Having a gregarious personality, Billy naturally adds energy to group work. This was most evident in highly collaborative group work like weekly BizCafe decisions. When Billy was in class and engaged, he helped us stay on topic and try to find the best solution. He did this primarily by supporting the strategies of others. A recent example of this was our decision for week eleven in BizCafe. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Analysis Of The Documentary Blackfish Essay Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite in the documentary, Blackfish (2013), argues that captivity triggers aggression in killer whales. Cowperthwaite supports her argument by demonstrating shocking footage and emotional interviews to present a convincing case against keeping these animals in captivity and for human entertainment. The author s purpose is to show the problems that are caused by captivity in order to aware the audience that keeping killer whales in captivity affects their behavior mentally and physically. The author writes in resentful tone to Sea World, the people who visited Sea World, and those who were present during the killer whale incident. Gabriela Cowperthwaite argues that keeping killer whales in captivity at SeaWorld affects their mentality due to how they are being treated. She makes this argument by applying pathos, ethos, and logos. In beginning of the film, the appeal to pathos affects the audience as we listen to what these former trainers have to say about how they became interested in the job and what made them realize that a trainer was what they wanted to be. As a little kid each of these trainers were inspired by commercials, TV channels, and visiting SeaWorld for the first time. In order to do this, government officials would have to evaluate and create detailed reports to battle erosion in specific areas rather than simply proposing a project that worked in a different place. In terms of development, I think that if a project is going to be undertaken over a large area coastal geologists and engineers should make small scale models of the region containing the planned infrastructure. • 42. The World And Expanse Of Time Throughout the semester, evaluating different eras and event across the world and expanse of time, we have studied how individual players and their actions contribute to our understanding of history itself. Many of our readings were historical accounts centralized on the lives of single players, and these players roles in greater historical events. The outbreak and entirety of WWI, serves as an example of how many individual players, and their actions, contributed to the overall outcome of an all out war. In class, we discussed how there were a number of major players whom helped contribute to the outbreak and subsequent events of WW1. One of the key actors we examined, was the Emperor to Russia at the time, Nicholas II, and the qualities attributed to him as an individual. These are the qualities which may have not only led to Russia s involvement in WWI, but also can be attributed to Russia s loss in Russo Japanese War, further destabilization of Russia s central government under Nicholas II, and ultimately the collapse of the Russian Monarchy, all culminating in the 1917 Russian Revolution. Nicholas II was the first born child of Emperor Alexander III of Russia, and being so, his upbringing was a rather quite and isolated, though he maintained a close relationship with both his father and mother. In 1881, Alexander II, Nicholas grandfather (and Emperor at the time) was assassinated by revolutionaries, quickly making Nicholas heir apparent at the age of thirteen. Though ... (pg. 84); Food and Beverage companies exploit this fact to sell their products. Consider the Kellogg s breakfast cereal that goes snap, crackle, and pop: Rice Crispies. Researchers at a specialized Danish laboratories worked to create the particular sound and feel of the crunch was identifiably Kellogg s. (pg. 85).
