Andrew Jackson Message Regarding Indian Relations Summary
Rhetoric of Message Regarding Indian Relations ; Andrew Jackson Unwrapped
When one hears the name Andrew Jackson, there are many feelings that are conjured up by an
individual. Some of these emotions include fear, disgust, and comedy. These sentiments are of
reason for substantial evidence exists to prove these emotions plausible. Andrew Jackson was the
seventh president under the Constitution of the United States of America who presided from 1829
until 1837. However, he was the first president to be impeached. With his controversial presidency,
Andrew Jackson implemented many policies that continue to impact the United States in the
modern era. His most controversial contribution was the Indian Removal Act. The Indian Removal
Act prompted the infamous Trail of Tears that killed many CherokeeNative Americans and moved
them westward to confined reservations. Of course, to implement such grand policy, Jackson had to
unduly convince Congress of those actions. In Andrew Jackson s speech given February 22nd,
1831 entitled Message Regarding Indian Relations, he tries to vindicate the Indian Removal Act,
outline the benefits of such legislation, and explain why such it was indeed important. Rhetorical
strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos are effectively utilized by Jackson to persuade Congress
to believe in the merits of upholding the Indian Removal Act which then lead to westward
expansion and Native American migration from their homelands.

Significant Role of the Hippocampus Essay
Significant Role of Hippocampus
Hippocampus is a small, curved region, which exists in both hemispheres of the brain and plays a
vital role in emotions, learning and acquisition of new information. It also contributes majorly to
long term memory, which is permanent information stored in the brain. Although long term
memory is the last information that can be forgotten, its impairment has become very common
nowadays. The dysfunction is exemplified by many neurological disorders such as amnesia. There
are two types of amnesia, anterograde and retrograde. Anterograde amnesia is inability in forming
new information, while retrograde refers to the loss of the past memory. As suggested by Cipolotti
and Bird (2006), hippocampus s lesions are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This implies that bilateral and unilateral hippocampus does not contribute majorly to familiarity and
recollection of unknown human s faces.
Since hippocampus plays an important function in the brain, it has become a great topic for many
conducted research not only on human but also animals, specifically primates and rodents. In
primate model of amnesia, the experiment is performed through three main tasks delayed nonmatch
to sample, object discrimination paradigm and motor skill learning across multiple trials
(Eichenbaum et al, 1992). In delayed non matching test, both amnesic and intact monkey show
nearly same performance rate in remembering objects across delayed in short period of time
(Eichenbaum et al, 1992). In contrast, amnesic monkeys show a great impairment for longer
delayed conditions, hours, in picking the right non matched samples (Eichenbaum et al, 1992).
Likewise, in object discrimination task, amnesic monkeys are unable to recognize objects, as
compared to control monkeys (Eichenbaum et al, 1992).These tests suggest the importance of
hippocampus in acquisition of new information and recollection old events from episodic memory.
Additionally, hippocampus also contributes largely to relational representation, as a characteristic
of declarative memory (Eichenbaum et al, 1992). This can be shown through odor discrimination

Western Society The Five Year Plans Analysis
To consolidate his power in the communist government, Stalin launched the five year plans with a
mission to increase the total industrial output by 250 percent and agricultural production by 150
percent. His government thought that economic development will help U.S.S.R to catch up with
the West. As part of this economic program, he ordered the collectivization of agriculture. His order
led to an economic disaster and shortage of basic necessities as large numbers of peasants opposed
to the change slaughtered their animals and burned the crops rather than turn them over to the state.
This resulted in a severe decrease in agricultural output throughout the years. (A History of Western
Society: The Five Year Plans, p. 903) To strengthen his position and solidify his control in the

individuals never previously seen in the city of Czernowitz streamed in from all corners of the

The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things by...
Hieronymus Bosch created The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things around 1500. Bosch
made the tabletop painting with oil paint on wood panels; He created it in Brabant, which is
presently known as the Netherlands. Incredibly, this masterpiece was conceived as a piece of
furniture to adorn the bedroom in King Philip s Escorial palace. The Seven Deadly Sinsand the Four
Last Things enlightened people about sins and stopped many from committing wrongdoings by
instilling fear in people; It stopped people in their tracks and brought ethics to attention.
Hieronymus Bosch masterfully applies symbolism and literalism to illuminate the seven deadly
sins and the process of death.
Hieronymus Bosch, was born in Brabant, now known as the Netherlands, around 1450. He was
a northern European painter of the late Middle Ages, and is considered to be mysterious and
elusive in history. His inspiration to become an artist began because his father, brother and
uncles were painters, and therefore it is believed he was trained, or mentored, by a relative
growing up. He may have been influenced by his religious group for a period time, because a
majority of his art had religious themes. In 1488 he joined the highly esteemed Brotherhood of Our
Lady, an arch conservative religious group of around 40 influential citizens of Hertogenbosch, and
7,000 outer members from around Europe.
Religion heavily influenced his style because of his Catholic beliefs, and a majority of his works

Roi and Variance Analysis
ROI and Variance Analysis ROI and Variance Analysis What are the four major budgets of a health
care organization? Briefly discuss each. Describe the four types of responsibility centers, including
the characteristics of each? The revenue center represents the organizational link in which the
activity is appreciated. The cost center represents the organizational link in which products/ services
are obtained which generate expenses (costs) with the help of which there can be measured the
efficiency and efficaciousness of the centers activity as value according to the revenue acquired,

Organizational leaders, investors and creditors should understand how to calculate key financial
ratios and their importance in analyzing the financial pulse of a firm. What does the term variance
analysis mean when applied of financial performance of health care organizations? The process of
portfolio selection that assumes that every rational investor, at a given level of risk, will accept
only the largest expected return. More specifically, mean variance analysis attempts to account for
risk and expected return mathematically to help the investor find a portfolio with the maximum
return for the minimum about of risk. Business information (BI) systems establish an automated
framework for making decisions. Effective BI systems provide a common platform and language
for key decision makers in an organization. Applications bring analytics and performance
management to health care. This insight gives management consultants the ability to gain insights
into the employees, management and business partners of any health care organization. For health
care this means increased revenue, reduced costs and less risk due to higher industry compliance
standards which translates into a more efficient experience for both health care professionals and
patients alike. From revenues to expenses, BI allows for detailed analysis of cash flow statements
and an efficient platform for comparing planned results to actual

Sanna Lund In The Simplicities Of Cider
The main character in the novel The Simplicities of Cider is Sanna Lund. SHe is a fifth
generation orchardist, and has some trouble along the way, which I will explain later. In my
opinion I do enjoy the main character of Sanna. She shows honesty and is very up front. Sanna as
well does anything to save her orchard which shows she is determined, as well as that she is
outgoing. Sanna Lund has learned to become an orchardist from her father who still is with her,
and both enjoy the quiet peaceful life of an orchardist. Until her business starts to have some
complications, and isn t as popular anymore. Her brother on the other hand left and went with their
mom, and later on came back trying to convince both Sanna and the dad to sell the orchard.

The Impact Of Low Socioeconomic Status On Health
The social determinants of health influences an individual s risk behaviours, their environmental
exposures and their access to resources to promote health. The social determinants refer to factors
of an individual s level of education and income, their occupation, their standard of housing, food
and water quality, air pollution levels, and the resources available to them. Studies have highlighted
a strong relationship between low socioeconomic statusand low health status which for an
individual may persist from birth, childhood, adulthood, elderly and may persist into the next
generation.
Study author Silvia Stringhini said Reducing poverty, improving education and creating safe home,
school and work environments are central to overcoming the impact of socioeconomic deprivation.
By doing this, socioeconomic status could be targeted and improved, leading to better wealth and
health for many. (Source: Huffington Post Title: Low socioeconomic status affects life expectancy
more than obesity, 1/02/2017).
New Zealand based doctor Martin Tobias also said there was no one issue that meant people from
low socioeconomic groups were more likely to be unwell.
Having low social rank means being powerless to determine your own destiny, deprived of material
resources, and limited in the opportunities open to you, which shapes both your lifestyle and your
life chances, Tobias said. (Source: Huffington Post Title: Low socioeconomic status affects life

Fighting For Love Or Letting It Go
Fighting for Love or Letting it Go No one ever stops to think or wonder what it would be like if
it were harder to get married. In my own opinion, I think that a majority of people take marriage
for granted. It is sad to say that divorce will always be an option as soon as a couple gets married.
It is important to understand the meaning marriageand how it will change life. If more people were
focused on making a marriage work, then divorce rates may lower. It is also important to
understand that a marriage is hard work and has the ability to be emotionally tiring at times. People
considering getting married need to realize that they have to be emotionally and mentally ready for
the time and requirements a marriage takes to survive. Even... Show more content on

In the state of Missouri, it is actually very easy to get hitched as some may call it. According to
U.S Marriage Laws, the legal age to get married is 18. Whomever is getting married must apply
for a marriage license which permits people to actually get married. The permit will expire 30
days after receiving one. People wanting to get married need to research all of the requirements
for getting married, even though there are few. Laws may vary from state to state; this is why it
is important to research all of the requirements for different situations. I find it interesting that
there is an age requirement to get married, but not a requirement to take a compatibility test. I
think that even if there wasn t a compatibility test that couples should have to be asked simple
questions to see how well the couple knows one another. It would be beneficial to have couples
explain how long they have been dating or engaged how well they know their partner, and what
they understand about marriage. One of the down falls of being able to get married so easily is
that it doesn t pressure the couple to really think about what they want as a couple and how they
will adjust to married life. It can be a dramatic change for some people because they may never
have had to be so responsible for so many things. It would be an advantage for people to
understand what makes a stable marriage and what the

the Nazi Party. Adolf Hitler was a decorated veteran from World War I. The Treaty of Versailles
directly affected the German people and Hitler. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty set in

with this treaty was it required that the country of Germanyto disarm, take guilt and pay apologies
to the other countries.
The treaty of Versailles did not run well for Hitler and when he became chancellor in 1933. His
Nazi Party became the largest elected party in Germany. After becoming chancellor, Hitler
worked to rebuild their economy and wanted better living space for the people of Germany. He
achieved better living space by killing all Jews. In 1934 President Von Hindenburg of Germany
died and Hitler took power of the presidency. (www.ushmm.org) The Nazi Party also had summer
camps spread across the country and even the United States to help spread the Nazi word and their
views. The summer camp helped promote the new and rising Germany and the Nazi party. He put
the unemployed to work in public programs, rebuilt the army and sent Jews, communists and others
to concentration camps. (time.com)

What Ever Happened To Baby Jane By Robert Aldrich
In the genre of film noir, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane is a 1962 American psychological
thriller that was directed and produced by Robert Aldrich. Aldrich created this film to use different
aspects to create many different emotions in the mind and the body of the audience as they watch
this cult classic. Five aspects that he used are lighting choice, music and instrumentation, makeup,
costume, and overt acting and expression. These aspects are used throughout the filmin many
different ways. The first aspect used in this film is lighting choice. One way that the lighting choice
created emotions in the audienceis whenever something bad is going to happen, the lighting gets
darker. For example, when Elvira (the house maid) set down the hammer and opened the locked
door that Blanche was in and Jane picked up the hammer and was about to kill Elvira, the
lighting in the room was darker than normal. Also, the use of dark lighting is used to create
suspicious, dark, or scary emotions. For example, when Jane is moving Elvira s body to her car,
the setting is very dark and creates dark, suspicious, and scary emotions.... Show more content on

One way that music and instrumentation is used in this film is whenever something bad is about
to happen, the music and instrumentation gets louder and more dramatic. For example, when Jane

Elvira causing dramatic and scary emotions. Another way music and instrumentation is used to
create emotions is when Jane sings I ve written a letter to daddy as edwin plays the piano. This
creates a very disgusted emotion because she is very old and she can t sing like she did before

Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case Essay
Southwest Airlines Discrimination Case
Recently, a Southwest Airlines discrimination issue surfaced resulting from comments expressed by
a Southwest pilot during a private conversation. The two minute conversation transpired on March
25, 2011 and was inadvertently broadcast over a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control
frequency in the Houston, Texas area during a flight from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California.
According to the accusations, the comments were perceived as demeaning and derogatory with
regard to the Southwest Airlines flight attendant employee group.

from both sides of the argument. The legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The airline permitted the pilot to return to work after completing diversity training. The airline
believes the incident was an isolated case and considered the conversation as private .
The Southwest Airlines flight Attendants Union have considered filing a federal workplace
discrimination complaint with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based upon
the statements made by the pilot. Despite and official apology offered by Southwest Airlines
management, the union believes the airlines response and apology falls short of expectations. The
union is calling on Southwest Airlines to address this problem throughout our company, not as an
isolated incident, but as a mandate that our workplace will be free from discrimination of all forms
as a condition of continued employment (Bingham). Despite the position of the union, Southwest
Airlines management believes the diversity training and the public apology was an appropriate
response to the incident.
Two possible actions must be considered to determine whether this incident involves any statutory
activity. First, did the pilot violate any statutory laws by transmitting obscene, indecent, or profane
language over ATC frequencies, and second, did the pilot provide a solid basis for a workplace
discrimination complaint as expressed by the flight attendant union; both possibilities appear
plausible based on the information

My High Training Approach
I venture up to my starting mark palms sweating, heart pounding. Three deep breaths followed
by a few warm up tuck jumps. Following my routine warmup, I begin the highly technical ten
step approach to ensure the correct take off position. From here I let my pliable body take over
to be able to arch my back over a bar. High jumping during track is where I understood that my
capabilities as a human being are unlimited. Track, being an outdoor sport, forces me to bear a
multitude of temperatures and conditions. Some days, the air is unbelievably hot and muggy and
surviving practice feels like an unattainable objective. Other days the cold strips my throat bleak.
Thanks to Wisconsin s unpredictable temperature, rain, snowflurries, and heat waves can occur
within one practice. If I learned anything from practicing under unpleasant conditions, it is that

life s journey. The first five steps of the approach decide how the rest of the journey will be, you

Father Stereotypes
Negativity Towards Fathers: Incapable Stereotype
Fathers have been degraded in many movies, television shows, and commercials as incapable
and incompetent. Stereotypes are socially constructed by society and the media. As humans
tend to label people by what we are taught and see through the media. This stereotype arrived
from the 1950 s and 1960 s sitcoms that relied on the incapable father to keep the viewers
entertained. The sitcoms in that day and age featured a 5 o clock dad...with a newspaper as a
face (Quindlen 101). In the 1950 s and 1960 s sitcoms fathers would be portrayed as coming home
from work at 5 o clock and sitting on the couch reading the newspaper and most likely drinking
beer waiting on dinner. At this time period the fathers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As social media has grown over the past few years so have the use of the incapable father
stereotype and all round every stereotype. As social media exploded new ways of expressing the
incapable stereotype online videos show fathers incapability in the household, not being able to
take care of the kids or clean the house and other household task. Memes and other pictures have
surfaced the social media buzz over the incapable father highlighting how fathers are seen as
solely for going to work and coming home and sitting on the couch and drinking beer. Much like
the way Peter Griffin is shown in Family Guy. Peter is shown in many episodes watching
television with a beer in his hands telling Louis to do something for him. Many fathers can very
well balance their work life and life at home. Fathers see that they are not supposed to be able to
handle both work and home but with many more women working they have to pick up the extra
task in the house to make things work. Many fathers are fighting the stereotype when it is shown in
commercials and various television shows. Saying that the times are different than in the 1950 s
and 1960 s when the stereotype was maybe more true than it is today. It is known that now more
women are out working that in the past leaving more men to help with the kids and household
work. Peter in Family Guy is shown as evidence that the media today does not see fathers as the
head of the household and fills them with a lack of faith that people see. Although the stereotype is
still famous in the entertainment world as Family Guy is still reviving great numbers, society may
stray away from the stereotype in the

The Meaning Of The Word Nigger
The word nigger has been around since the beginning of our nation. It has made an appearance in
numerous songs, speeches, and even literary classics such as The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn. Over the years, the word and its meaning have changed drastically to mean positive things
in the black community, however the original insult is still present in some contexts. Many
believe we should prohibit the use of the word as best we can in order to put an end to the
negative uses. However, I believe that we should instead be working towards changing the meaning
of the word forever instead of condemning it. Although many argue the n word should be censored
at all times, I believe it should not be censored because it is vital in understanding out nation s past,
the meaning of the word has adapted throughout time to be positive, and condemning it would only
allow the word to sustain its negative meaning. The word niggeris crucial to understanding our
history. Some argue that the word is always attributed with the nation s past blunders such as
discrimination and slavery and for that reason it should be banned. For example, the article ____
states that the word has long conjured images of lynchings, oppression, bigotry, and discrimination
(OBAMA). Although this is true, these images are necessary in describing our country s
background. Without the use of this word to do so, it would be impossible to understand the extent
of prejudice that this country had present

In the subject of field for art history Robert pointed out the art is found in all categories except

of how art progress through the globe and similar styles of art like the European art are shown in

the only category to be critical and theoretical. Criticism in art is what demonstrates the

he also claims that the library system is for categorizing art books, his statement was that every
book creates order, individually and collectively. The order of a single book is a function of its

Local resources Tourism in India can create great pressure on local resources like energy, food,
and other raw materials that may already be in short supply. Greater extraction and transport of
these resources exacerbates the physical impacts associated with their exploitation. Because of the
seasonal character of the industry, many destinations have ten times more inhabitants in the high
season as in the low season. A high demand is placed upon these resources to meet the high
expectations tourists often have (proper heating, hot water, etc.). Land degradation Important land
resources include fertile soil, forests, wetlands and wildlife. Increased construction of tourism
facilities has increased the pressure on these resources and on scenic landscapes. Direct impact on
natural resources in the provision of tourist facilities can be caused by the use of land for
accommodation and other infrastructure provision, and the use of building materials. Forests often
suffer negative impacts of tourism in the form of deforestation caused by fuel wood collection and
land clearing. For example, one trekking tourist in Nepal can use four to five kilograms of wood a

When I was tracking the progress of Facebook best performing social media contents, more than

When I conducted an interview with Brenda Davis, who is the New Media Specialist for
MARCOMM, I could gain a better insight of how the University handles responding to comments.
The University tries to respond in a timely manner, to where it does not seem like the person is
getting insulted or feel less educated. Instead of deleting negative comments, TAMU CC aims to
resolve conflict by providing as much reassurance and information to the user. If you delete
comments, it shows you do not care for the students, parents, and community (Brenda Davis,

How the Hippies Counterculture Transformed Music Essay
In the 1950 s and 1960 s, rebellion and music were synonymous. The 1950 s brought widespread
attention to a new kind of music coined as Rock n Roll . Because parents deemed the music as
sinful, the youth used it to establish an identity for themselvess. In the 1960 s, the rebellion was
given a collective charge when young adults voiced displeasure over the country s entrance into the
Vietnam War and the use of nuclear weapons. One group within this movement was coined the
hippies . This paper will discuss the beliefs of the hippies of Haight Ashburyin San Francisco,
California and illustrate how the hippiecounterculture transformed into an evolution of music, in

Haight Ashbury had a history of being an entertainment center, capitalizing on San Francisco s
economic success in the Gold Rush.
In his book titled The Making of a Counterculture: Reflections on the Technocratic Society and Its
Youthful Opposition, historian Theodore Roszak described a counterculture as typically involving
disapproval or an attempted dismissal of those institutions which presently hold some level of
dominance, while simultaneously having hope for an improved life in a new society, in terms of
thinking and being. There has been some level of debate, discussing whether or not the hippie
movement of the 1960 s and 1970 s matched this definition. Was the movement solely a product of
the hippie s clustered university lifestyle, where common experimentation with drugs as well as
political activism served as their own sources of rebellion? This notion was argued by
anthropologist William L. Partridge, in his case study titled The Hippie Ghetto: The Natural
History of a Subculture.
Roszak argues in his book about a hippie rejection of technocracy: the system of organizations and
elite experts that influences society to attach itself to the importance of efficiency, rationalizing,
planning, and necessity, which hippies felt was clearly depicted by the nuclear arms race and fight
against communism between the United States and U.S.S.R.

Validity And Credibility Of Research In A Profession
Research is vital for the development of sound policy decisions within any profession. The research
process provides an opportunity to gain new knowledge and a broader understanding of issues
through the collecting, analyzing and the evaluating data. Congress realized there was little data

these issues. (President Crime Commission Report, 1967). The National Institute of Law

Space Landing Pros And Cons
That s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind, Neil Armstrong said on July 20th,
1969. Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon and he was accompanied by Buzz Aldrin.
Apollo 11 launched on July 16th, 1969 and landed on the moon on July 20th, 1969. The objective
of the space landing was a national goal set by John F. Kennedy. Armstrong and Aldrin spent 21
hours on the moonwith seven hours of sleep. But is this all true, or is it all a lie?
Body of Research:
On July 20th, 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon. Or did they?
Actually, yes, NASA did, but that hasn t stopped conspiracy theories from surfacing. Conspiracy
theorists have made people believe that humans never set foot on the lunar surface, and that the
entire effort was massively staged. In many of pictures of the landing, the American flag that Neil
Armstrong put up has ripples. But how is this possible, once you put it on surface there is no
wind? Well scientists have said that the flag s edges are pulled taut. They said when you do this
effect, which was done purposely, you put a stiff wire into the fabric. They did this because instead
of letting the flag hang flat, the wire creates ripples.
Another conspiracy is that they re multiple shadows in the moon photos prove there was more than
one source of light. Again scientist debunked this theory too. When taking the pictures the
astronauts were on a hilly, brightly lit landscape while the sun was close to the

The fuzzy logic controller is responsible for controlling the length of the green time according to
the traffic conditions. The state machine controls the sequence of states that the fuzzy traffic
controller should cycle through. There is one state for each phase of the traffic light. There is one
default state which takes place when no incoming traffic is detected. In the sequence of states, a
state can be skipped if there is no vehicle queues for the corresponding approach.
DESIGN CRITERIA AND CONSTRAINTS
In the development of the fuzzy traffic lights control system the following assumptions are made:
i) The junction is an isolated four way junction with traffic coming from the north, west, south and
east directions. ii) When traffic from the north and south moves, traffic from the west and east
stops and vice versa. iii) No right and left turns are considered. iv) The fuzzy logic controller will
observe the density of the north and south traffic as one side and the west and east traffic as
another side. v) The East West lane is assumed as the main approach.
Vi) The minimum and maximum time of green light is 2 seconds and 20 seconds respectively.
FUZZY LOGIC TRAFFIC LIGHTS CONTROLLER DESIGN
A fuzzy logic controller was designed for an isolated 4 lane traffic intersection: north, south, east
and west. In the traffic lights controller two fuzzy input variables are chosen: the

Determinants Of The Crisis Of Colander s A Manifesto For...
Though there are numerous determinants that resulted in the Financial Crisis of 2008, wage
stagnation for the majority of Americans and increasing income inequality are among the most
influential. The housing bubble that was fueled by subprime lending and indebtedness was a
subsequent result of these two determinants. This essay will analyze the two factors (income
inequality and wage stagnation) that contributed to the onset of the crisis, factors that are
prolonging the crisis expressed from the position of Colander s A Structural Stagnation Policy

Moreover, as the top percentage of Americans accumulated more wealth, the remaining
percentage (primarily the middle class) wages stagnated. This furthered the income inequality
between the wealthy elite those who had the financial means to significantly influence politics
and the middle and lower classes those who struggled to maintain the basic welfare of their
families and their social standing. As the gap increased and financial policies began to benefit
primarily the top percent of wealthy Americans, the remaining percentages were forced to spend
more for critical services like education and health care even though their wages were stagnated.
This resulted in households spending larger portions of their incomes and saving less for the
long run. Debt accumulation for middle class and lower class households rose significantly in
the decades prior to the crisis. (Within the financial sector, debt rose from 22 percent of GDP in
1981 to 117 percent in 2008). As households spent more and saved less, they began relying heavily
on loans and speculation to sustain their spending. The housing market in the late 1990s and early
2000s became the primary focus of spending with banks giving out loans for houses far beyond the
financial means of the one s acquiring them. As J. D. Wisman asserted in Wage Stagnation, Rising
Inequality, and the Financial Crisis, the housing market was greatly stimulated by very low interest

The National Youth Leadership Forum
Growing up in a predominately African American school district, I would go several days
without ever being reminded of my racial identity. I was considered part of the majority
throughout all of grade school. However, this all changed as I began to stray from my normal
crowd and participate in academic enrichment and pre medical programs. The very first time that
I was reminded that I was the minority, and therefore inferior to many was when I attended a
program called NYLF. The National Youth Leadership Forum allowed me to spend ten days at a
medical forum with high school students from all over the world. When I arrived, I looked
around and realized that out of about two hundred kids, only about fifteen looked like me. I also
noticed that they had all congregated to the same area and had essentially secluded themselves.
Determined not to stay in my comfort zone and expose myself to new things, I decided to sit at a
different table. A few days into the program, several disappointing things became clear. I began to
observe ignorant remarks, disapproving glares, and belittling attitudes from many of my
surrounding peers. Admittedly, it did make me somewhat upset to know that so many felt that
because I was a black girl, I did not deserve to be at this program. It became evident that many of
my opinions, thoughts, and responses to activities were quickly discounted on most occasions. I
wondered if I had made the wrong decision by branching off from my African Americanpeers.

Since love was a very foreign idea to them, it influenced them to become more interested in
western book, which did not include any propaganda. When the narrator reads Jean Christophe a
book by Romain Rolland, he talks about the main character fondly Without him I would never
have understood the splendor of taking free and independent action as an individual. Up until
this stolen encounter with Romain Rolland s hero, my poor educated and re educated brains had
been incapable of gasping the notion of one man standing up against the whole world (110).
This is the main reason why Mao didn t want people reading any kind of literature that was not
connected to the party or scientific. Books such as the one the narrator read inspired people
which can motivate then to rise up against his dictatorship and lead to his loss of power. When
talking about the main character from the Balzac Ursule Mirouet novel, the narrater sates I
longed to be like her: to be able, while I lay asleep on my bed, to see what my mother was doing
in our apartment five hundred kilometers away, to watch my parents having supper, to observe
their gestures...better still, like Ursele, I would visit, in my dreams, places I had never set eyes on
before... (58 59). From this passage it can be seen how disillusioned the youth of China were due to
the re education process. Another key reason why Luo and the narrator were so interested in the
books was because they could relate to the stories. They were able to picture it happening to
themselves which in a way gave them an escape from their reality and the fact that they might

Ureterocele Essay
Ureterocele, Pediatric
A ureterocele is an abnormal swelling at the end of a ureter, near the bladder. Ureters are tubes that
connect the kidneys to the bladder. Urine is filtered by the kidneys and then it flows through the
ureters to be stored in the bladder. A ureterocele is a condition that your child is born with
(congenital anomaly). Children with this condition usually have an extra ureter on one side of the
body, which is likely to form a ureterocele.
A ureterocele usually happens on only one side of the body. Sometimes it affects both sides, but
this is rare. A ureterocele can block urineflow or cause urine to flow backward (backflow), which

The Effect Of Iron Sulphate Concentration On The Growth Of...
A study on the effect of iron sulphate concentration on the growth of Triticum aestivum, as
measured by shoot length
Background:
For the plants development to carry out general processes, an example being photosynthesis,
required for life. There are different roles which can be changed, altered, removed or added that can
affect the plant, an example being an increase temperature, CO2. Iron is a micronutrient like iron,
used by plants for plant growth, it s role a key factor in enzyme present and able to carry out the
the processes and needed for the formation of chlorophyll. A reason as to why iron plays a key part
in the plants development, is due to the fact that the fundamental components of protein found in
the enzyme that controls a large sum of chemical reactions which happens in a plant. A study
carried out showed that iron aided in seed production needed for activity in enzymes, however in
the correct dosages.
A excess of iron can inhibit plant growth, also hindering photosynthetic electron transport. An
excess can also cause iron poisoning which causes the plants to change in colour from green to
yellow and the growth of the plant to be stunted. Increased levels of iron can similarly cause a huge
drop in plant s seed germination and iron intake
The plant experimented on, was wheat which is one of the world s most used products in creating
carbohydrate foods i.e. cereal. The discerning factor of wheat is that it carries more use in

Bcg Matrix Is A Model Developed By Bruce Henderson Of The...
The BCG matrix is a model developed by Bruce Henderson of the Boston Consulting Group
(NetMBA). The goal of the BCG matrix was to allow fellow marketers to easily analyze a
product, whether it be old, or new, as to how effective it was in that particular market and if the
product was successful in its overall product growth and market share. When it comes to selling
a product, a company must overcome competitors in the same market who are looking to take a
piece of the share of consumers. Therefore, in order to be successful, the use of a model such as
the BCG allows a marketer to assess their competitive advantages as well as the ability to calculate
the relative market share. For example, once you have products that have hit the market and have
already established themselves, you can check back and cross examine those products to see which
ones are important to your success as an organization and which ones you should contemplate
scaling back on because these products may be viewed as questionable. According to NetMBA the
BCG matrix contains four key components; the stars, the cash cows, dogs, and question marks. The
stars of the matrix are the go getters. This part of the mix contains your products that continuously
show an increase in growth industry within the market and a high market share. In other words,
these products have been so superb that they influence deeper looks into how to smartly invest

  • 2. Andrew Jackson Message Regarding Indian Relations Summary Rhetoric of Message Regarding Indian Relations ; Andrew Jackson Unwrapped When one hears the name Andrew Jackson, there are many feelings that are conjured up by an individual. Some of these emotions include fear, disgust, and comedy. These sentiments are of reason for substantial evidence exists to prove these emotions plausible. Andrew Jackson was the seventh president under the Constitution of the United States of America who presided from 1829 until 1837. However, he was the first president to be impeached. With his controversial presidency, Andrew Jackson implemented many policies that continue to impact the United States in the modern era. His most controversial contribution was the Indian Removal Act. The Indian Removal Act prompted the infamous Trail of Tears that killed many CherokeeNative Americans and moved them westward to confined reservations. Of course, to implement such grand policy, Jackson had to unduly convince Congress of those actions. In Andrew Jackson s speech given February 22nd, 1831 entitled Message Regarding Indian Relations, he tries to vindicate the Indian Removal Act, outline the benefits of such legislation, and explain why such it was indeed important. Rhetorical strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos are effectively utilized by Jackson to persuade Congress to believe in the merits of upholding the Indian Removal Act which then lead to westward expansion and Native American migration from their homelands. • 3. Significant Role of the Hippocampus Essay Significant Role of Hippocampus Hippocampus is a small, curved region, which exists in both hemispheres of the brain and plays a vital role in emotions, learning and acquisition of new information. It also contributes majorly to long term memory, which is permanent information stored in the brain. Although long term memory is the last information that can be forgotten, its impairment has become very common nowadays. The dysfunction is exemplified by many neurological disorders such as amnesia. There are two types of amnesia, anterograde and retrograde. Anterograde amnesia is inability in forming new information, while retrograde refers to the loss of the past memory. This implies that bilateral and unilateral hippocampus does not contribute majorly to familiarity and recollection of unknown human s faces. Since hippocampus plays an important function in the brain, it has become a great topic for many conducted research not only on human but also animals, specifically primates and rodents. In primate model of amnesia, the experiment is performed through three main tasks delayed nonmatch to sample, object discrimination paradigm and motor skill learning across multiple trials (Eichenbaum et al, 1992). In delayed non matching test, both amnesic and intact monkey show nearly same performance rate in remembering objects across delayed in short period of time (Eichenbaum et al, 1992). In contrast, amnesic monkeys show a great impairment for longer delayed conditions, hours, in picking the right non matched samples (Eichenbaum et al, 1992). Likewise, in object discrimination task, amnesic monkeys are unable to recognize objects, as compared to control monkeys (Eichenbaum et al, 1992).These tests suggest the importance of hippocampus in acquisition of new information and recollection old events from episodic memory. Additionally, hippocampus also contributes largely to relational representation, as a characteristic of declarative memory (Eichenbaum et al, 1992). • 4. Western Society The Five Year Plans Analysis To consolidate his power in the communist government, Stalin launched the five year plans with a mission to increase the total industrial output by 250 percent and agricultural production by 150 percent. His government thought that economic development will help U.S.S.R to catch up with the West. As part of this economic program, he ordered the collectivization of agriculture. His order led to an economic disaster and shortage of basic necessities as large numbers of peasants opposed to the change slaughtered their animals and burned the crops rather than turn them over to the state. This resulted in a severe decrease in agricultural output throughout the years. Bosch made the tabletop painting with oil paint on wood panels; He created it in Brabant, which is presently known as the Netherlands. Incredibly, this masterpiece was conceived as a piece of furniture to adorn the bedroom in King Philip s Escorial palace. The Seven Deadly Sinsand the Four Last Things enlightened people about sins and stopped many from committing wrongdoings by instilling fear in people; It stopped people in their tracks and brought ethics to attention. Hieronymus Bosch masterfully applies symbolism and literalism to illuminate the seven deadly sins and the process of death. Hieronymus Bosch, was born in Brabant, now known as the Netherlands, around 1450. He was a northern European painter of the late Middle Ages, and is considered to be mysterious and elusive in history. His inspiration to become an artist began because his father, brother and uncles were painters, and therefore it is believed he was trained, or mentored, by a relative growing up. He may have been influenced by his religious group for a period time, because a majority of his art had religious themes. In 1488 he joined the highly esteemed Brotherhood of Our Lady, an arch conservative religious group of around 40 influential citizens of Hertogenbosch, and 7,000 outer members from around Europe. Religion heavily influenced his style because of his Catholic beliefs, and a majority of his works express ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People wanting to get married need to research all of the requirements for getting married, even though there are few. I find it interesting that there is an age requirement to get married, but not a requirement to take a compatibility test. I think that even if there wasn t a compatibility test that couples should have to be asked simple questions to see how well the couple knows one another. It would be beneficial to have couples explain how long they have been dating or engaged how well they know their partner, and what they understand about marriage. One of the down falls of being able to get married so easily is that it doesn t pressure the couple to really think about what they want as a couple and how they will adjust to married life. What Ever Happened To Baby Jane By Robert Aldrich In the genre of film noir, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane is a 1962 American psychological thriller that was directed and produced by Robert Aldrich. Aldrich created this film to use different aspects to create many different emotions in the mind and the body of the audience as they watch this cult classic. Five aspects that he used are lighting choice, music and instrumentation, makeup, costume, and overt acting and expression. These aspects are used throughout the filmin many different ways. The first aspect used in this film is lighting choice. One way that the lighting choice created emotions in the audienceis whenever something bad is going to happen, the lighting gets darker. For example, when Elvira (the house maid) set down the hammer and opened the locked door that Blanche was in and Jane picked up the hammer and was about to kill Elvira, the lighting in the room was darker than normal. The Southwest Airlines flight Attendants Union have considered filing a federal workplace discrimination complaint with the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based upon the statements made by the pilot. Despite and official apology offered by Southwest Airlines management, the union believes the airlines response and apology falls short of expectations. The union is calling on Southwest Airlines to address this problem throughout our company, not as an isolated incident, but as a mandate that our workplace will be free from discrimination of all forms as a condition of continued employment (Bingham). Despite the position of the union, Southwest Airlines management believes the diversity training and the public apology was an appropriate response to the incident. Two possible actions must be considered to determine whether this incident involves any statutory activity. High jumping during track is where I understood that my capabilities as a human being are unlimited. Track, being an outdoor sport, forces me to bear a multitude of temperatures and conditions. Some days, the air is unbelievably hot and muggy and surviving practice feels like an unattainable objective. Other days the cold strips my throat bleak. • 14. Father Stereotypes Negativity Towards Fathers: Incapable Stereotype Fathers have been degraded in many movies, television shows, and commercials as incapable and incompetent. Stereotypes are socially constructed by society and the media. As humans tend to label people by what we are taught and see through the media. This stereotype arrived from the 1950 s and 1960 s sitcoms that relied on the incapable father to keep the viewers entertained. The sitcoms in that day and age featured a 5 o clock dad...with a newspaper as a face (Quindlen 101). As social media exploded new ways of expressing the incapable stereotype online videos show fathers incapability in the household, not being able to take care of the kids or clean the house and other household task. Memes and other pictures have surfaced the social media buzz over the incapable father highlighting how fathers are seen as solely for going to work and coming home and sitting on the couch and drinking beer. Much like the way Peter Griffin is shown in Family Guy. Peter is shown in many episodes watching television with a beer in his hands telling Louis to do something for him. Many fathers can very well balance their work life and life at home. Fathers see that they are not supposed to be able to handle both work and home but with many more women working they have to pick up the extra task in the house to make things work. Many fathers are fighting the stereotype when it is shown in commercials and various television shows. Saying that the times are different than in the 1950 s and 1960 s when the stereotype was maybe more true than it is today. It is known that now more women are out working that in the past leaving more men to help with the kids and household work. Peter in Family Guy is shown as evidence that the media today does not see fathers as the head of the household and fills them with a lack of faith that people see. • 17. The Meaning Of The Word Nigger The word nigger has been around since the beginning of our nation. It has made an appearance in numerous songs, speeches, and even literary classics such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Over the years, the word and its meaning have changed drastically to mean positive things in the black community, however the original insult is still present in some contexts. Many believe we should prohibit the use of the word as best we can in order to put an end to the negative uses. However, I believe that we should instead be working towards changing the meaning of the word forever instead of condemning it. Although many argue the n word should be censored at all times, I believe it should not be censored because it is vital in understanding out nation s past, the meaning of the word has adapted throughout time to be positive, and condemning it would only allow the word to sustain its negative meaning. The word niggeris crucial to understanding our history. In his book titled The Making of a Counterculture: Reflections on the Technocratic Society and Its Youthful Opposition, historian Theodore Roszak described a counterculture as typically involving disapproval or an attempted dismissal of those institutions which presently hold some level of dominance, while simultaneously having hope for an improved life in a new society, in terms of thinking and being. There has been some level of debate, discussing whether or not the hippie movement of the 1960 s and 1970 s matched this definition. Was the movement solely a product of the hippie s clustered university lifestyle, where common experimentation with drugs as well as political activism served as their own sources of rebellion? This notion was argued by anthropologist William L. Partridge, in his case study titled The Hippie Ghetto: The Natural History of a Subculture. Roszak argues in his book about a hippie rejection of technocracy: the system of organizations and elite experts that influences society to attach itself to the importance of efficiency, rationalizing, planning, and necessity, which hippies felt was clearly depicted by the nuclear arms race and fight against communism between the United States and U.S.S.R. ... The objective of the space landing was a national goal set by John F. Kennedy. Armstrong and Aldrin spent 21 hours on the moonwith seven hours of sleep. But is this all true, or is it all a lie? Body of Research: On July 20th, 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon. Or did they? Actually, yes, NASA did, but that hasn t stopped conspiracy theories from surfacing. Conspiracy theorists have made people believe that humans never set foot on the lunar surface, and that the entire effort was massively staged. In many of pictures of the landing, the American flag that Neil Armstrong put up has ripples. But how is this possible, once you put it on surface there is no wind? Well scientists have said that the flag s edges are pulled taut. They said when you do this effect, which was done purposely, you put a stiff wire into the fabric. They did this because instead of letting the flag hang flat, the wire creates ripples. This furthered the income inequality between the wealthy elite those who had the financial means to significantly influence politics and the middle and lower classes those who struggled to maintain the basic welfare of their families and their social standing. As the gap increased and financial policies began to benefit primarily the top percent of wealthy Americans, the remaining percentages were forced to spend more for critical services like education and health care even though their wages were stagnated. This resulted in households spending larger portions of their incomes and saving less for the long run. Up until this stolen encounter with Romain Rolland s hero, my poor educated and re educated brains had been incapable of gasping the notion of one man standing up against the whole world (110).
