Since I start this program I have been always asking myself if I will be a good teacher, or even

Today, we tell the story of how a British attack on Fort McHenry in the port of Baltimore led to The
Star Spangled Banner, America s national anthem.
In the summer of 1814, British forces attacked Washington, DC. They burned the Capitol building,
the White House and other public buildings. Then they withdrew to their ships in the Chesapeake
Bay.
British General Robert Ross and Admiral George Cockburn led the attack on Washington. Next they
planned to attack Baltimore. But the people of Baltimore expected the attack, and began to prepare
for it. Fifty thousand of them built defenses around the city.
The port of Baltimore was protected by Fort McHenry. The guns and cannon of the fort could
prevent British ships from reaching the city.
The British began with a land attack against Baltimore. General Ross, Admiral Cockburn and about
4,000 British soldiers landed at North Point, a finger of land reaching into the Chesapeake Bay.
From North Point, it was a march of about 22 kilometers to Baltimore. The British began marching
at about seven in the morning. General Ross and Admiral Cockburn stopped their men after an

world can largely be attributed to the many technological advances and industrial processes that
sustain our way of life today. However this water is rarely ever pure, usually it contains
numerous minerals such as Mg2+ and Ca2+ that can contribute to scale build up in industrial
processes that cause inefficiency and structural damage. This experiment serves to evaluate
several filtration processes to see which is most efficient at removing minerals that contribute to
water hardness and thus scale formation. First however we will gain a better understanding of
water hardness. Water hardness is caused by the presence of the dissolved divalent cations Ca2+
and Mg2+ as well as numerous other polyvalent cations. Water that contains large quantities of
Ca2+ and Mg2+ are said to be hard. Likewise water with very low concentrations of those divalent

The subculture of southern violence theory is just one of many cultural transmissions theories
discussed in Miller s text. Cultural transmission theories determine that the values, beliefs, and
norms of subcultures (deviant or no) contrast with the dominant culture. Therefore, it is possible for
a subculture to justify criminal behavior as normal or necessary when it comes to one s reputation
and self defense. Because the southern region of the United States is known to have high crimerates
than other regions of the United States and as a whole, the subculture of violencetheory was
hypothesized by Wolfgang and Ferracuti during the late 1960s. Other researchers: Ball Rokeach,
1973; Erlanger, 1974; and Hartnagel, 1980 theorized what factors may be the cause of the high
crime rates in the southern region as well. This discussion will explore the implications of whether
or not their findings adequately support the existence of the subculture of southern violence theory.
Wolfgang and Ferracuti furthered the subculture of violence theory from the insights of cultural
deviance theorists before them. Basing their theorizations entirely upon inferences from available

hepatitis C. The study aimed to elucidate and explore culturally resonant approaches for Indigenous
peoples across Canada in a wholistic care cascade for this population.
The specific objectives of this study were as follows: (1) a rapid review of the hepatitis C
literature employing an Indigenous lens; (2) a series of sharing circles of Indigenous peoples with
lived hepatitis C experiences (3) analysis of sharing circle discourse by the research team and
Community Research Associates; (4) a series of validation exercises with key informants to
increase robustness and enrich findings; (5) team building and multi directional capacity
strengthening; and (6) development a larger community based operating grant application for future
research funding consideration. I performed the foundational aspects of this project, including the
scoping review, sharing circle planning and initial qualitative analysis.
The activities within this study also align with strong recommendations from Indigenous
