hospital when complications arise. This is often the case because treatments (such as intravenous
medications) needed to deal with the various complications of CHF require interventions that need to

website report Hospitalizations for Congestive Heart Failure: United States 2000 2010, 5.8 million
people suffer from CHF in the United States, and hospitalization rates for individuals under the age of
65 with CHF increased significantly from 23% to 29% with rates for men higher compared to women.
Fluid retention that is unresponsive to oral diuretic treatments is one of the most common situations

The Stapedial or Acoustic Reflex (AR) is the contraction of the stapedius muscle in response to an
adequately loud sound. Bilateral reflex pathways are involved in this occurrence. The aim of the study
was to compare the test retest variability on an individual, following a short interval, after the initial
test, and also to compare the ARs with pure tone thresholds. The subject had a normal hearing
sensitivity, with bilateral A type tympanogram, which indicated normal functioning of the middle ear,
and bilateral AR thresholds within normal limits. It was delineated that AR was elicited with requisite
intense acoustic signal and this test can be used as a diagnostic tool in collaterally with pure tone
audiometry.
INTRODUCTION:
When a sufficiently intense acoustic signal is presented to either of the ears, stapedius muscle in both
the ears contract, as a response to this sound. This phenomenon is termed as AR.
Stapes, the smallest middle ear ossicle is attached with a small striated muscle (stapedius muscle) on
the side. In response to a loud sound, this muscle contracts, pulling the stapes laterally, which in turn
reduced the force by which the footplate of the stapes propels against the oval window. This action
permits a considerable protection against loud and stable background noise, but not against sudden
loud sounds (e.g.: bomb blast).

I hear inner Strunk and White voices of don t overwrite , write in a way that comes naturally, and so
forth, going through my head. I have visions of endless Williams examples and illustrations on clarity.
I see weeks of blog writings flashing through my memory. From all of this, I now own and believe in
a firm and personal definition of what style is and what good writing entails. William Strunk and E.B.
White s book The Elements of Style, along with Joseph M. Williams s book Style Toward Clarity and

There must be guidelines. Strunk and White and Williams share those thoughts with their readers, and
while I do not agree with all of their rules, as a writer, I believe within these style books I have found
guidelines in which writers can fulfill their purpose. As a reader, I feel that if writers follow some of
the guidelines Strunk and White and Williams have to offer to the world, I can come away from a
piece of writing affected.
The next question would be: how is a reader affected? Well, a reader cannot be affected unless a piece
of writing is presented clearly. A piece of writing must be written in a way that any person can pick it
up, read it, and not only understand the point the author is trying to convey through her/his writing,
but be able to follow the flow of information. For that to take place, the information must be presented
in a clear manner. I believe this to be an important part of style; without it the style of a piece of
writing can be lost.
One of Strunk and White s principles of composition suggests that writers express coordinate ideas in
similar form. It goes on to explain that, ...expressions similar in content and function be outwardly
similar. The likeness of form enables the reader to recognize more readily the likeness of content and
function (26). By expressing similar ideas in the same or similar form, readers are able to better
understand how the ideas relate to each other

In the city of Las Vegas, people go through the daily trails and tribulations that the city has to offer.
People constantly on the go, worried about the collection of money, pollution filling our lungs and

and symbolic qualities, and embodied. For example a city is semi bounded by city limits (semi

single year), includes material structures like buildings and roads, has symbolic meanings such as
being perceived as a college town or an urban metropolis, and is experienced on a daily basis by the
