OUR EXPERIENCE IN THE SEMINARY

The seminary is a good grade option for improving our knowledge in English. In
this course, we have learnt to work with new tools which will help our teaching,
in facebook, we have created a group where all the students can update
information about different important aspects which help us to improve in
teaching English. Also, we had known how to use the technology in the
classroom using video clips, and other authentic and no authentic materials,
text book, cell phone, postcards, music and other important teaching methods.
Also, we have developed microteaching using the four strategies in English
(reading, writing, speaking and listening). During the classes is necessary to
apply the four skills in order to students developing their capacities for getting
linguistic competence, create real situations where students can learn how
speak front people or ask for information, in this way they will have success in
the learning.

Is important that teacher have into an account some strategies, in order to have
success in the teaching English, which are:

Develop the four skills: Listening is the most common skill used in the
classroom; listening and speaking are taught together but, is necessary to make
emphasis in listening in the beginning level. The four skills are equals of
important we use them all day when we speak for cell phone, listen music, chat
with others and read the newspaper this are actions that realized in our real life,
and is important apply it in a second language learning in the same way.
Students have difficulty in understand the mean of sentences when they read or
listen in English Language, for this reason is important that teachers work more
in theses skills, in order to improve the student´s knowledge.

The grammar use: The use of the grammar is discusses for a lot people, many
teachers ask themselves if the grammar is necessary in the classroom, we
consider that it is important in learning English language, as support during the
classes, and teacher should teach it bases in real situations for example create
a situation where teacher teach to students how ask for information when a
person visit a restaurant, park, museum, airport, supermarket eliminating the old
methods of teaching. Teaching in real situations and not for topic. Some text
book help teacher as support for teaching grammatical rules, but the teacher
should study which topics of this book are important to use during the class and
the appropriate form to teach it.

Motivation: the motivation is a good strategy for learning, students enjoy when
the classes are fun, when they can express their opinions, when the teacher
makes games or song that students like, when the classes are funny for them.
We knew that exist some types and kind of motivation and why is important that
students are motivate during the learning teaching process. Students like
classes with colorful poster, with using of computer, speaker, and short videos.
If the students are motivated, they will learn more and teachers will have a
satisfaction when his students obtain better scare.

Use of didactic materials: teacher should use authentic and no authentic
materials adapting to the context, this materials help that students feel conform
in the classroom and they want to learn. We as teacher have that abandon the
old methods of teaching where the teacher is front of his or her students
explaining a topic and students only are receiving a knowledge, students have
to participate in this process expressing their opinions, make debates, and
having a critical thinking

We have learnt about multiples intelligences it is important topic in teaching
English. Students learn in different way and different times, for example exist
some students that need more time and effort in completing a work class, for
this reason teacher should identify which intelligences exist in her o his
classroom, because some teacher only work in the two most know intelligences:
the linguistic and mathematical intelligences leaving out all the other students
with different intelligences, is important know this classes of intelligences for
planning our lesson according with each one. For example the students with
linguistic intelligences like read a book, magazine, make discussion and
debates, other students with different intelligences like puzzle, draw, video,
games, role play, other like work with other, have access to nature, or make
community events.

We also have learnt about the rules APA which is the format for citation sources
in education, we use it when speak about the ideas of one person, or when we
make a citation of one author or book, we knew about plagiarism which is a
appropriation of another person's written or idea, is important know about this
topic that is frequently in the school, because many students when teacher put
a homework they only cut and paste information, this pass in almost all the
school in our context, consequently is essential for we know about this topic.

We have presented a microteaching class where the teacher had help us
to correct the   mistakes,     that   we sometimes make      when we     teach, for
example mistakes in pronunciation or use of the materials for the classes. We
learnt that is important to be prepare when we make a presentation, we should
looking for unknown word in a good dictionary for have a correct meaning and
pronunciation of this words.

In conclusion, with this seminary we have learnt many things that during our
career our teacher didn`t emphasize, for example in APA rules, the importance
of the motivation in the classroom, the lack of motivation affect negatively the
student`s learning, because this can origin bad behaviors, lack of interest or that
students do not want to work. Now we filled many empty spaces, correcting
many of our mistakes in writing and speaking. Every day we following learn with
the objective of improve our English teaching in order to be the better teacher
for our students, who need teacher each day more professional. We following
learn offering our students the quality of our teaching.

Our experience in the seminary[1]

  • 1. OUR EXPERIENCE IN THE SEMINARY The seminary is a good grade option for improving our knowledge in English. In this course, we have learnt to work with new tools which will help our teaching, in facebook, we have created a group where all the students can update information about different important aspects which help us to improve in teaching English. Also, we had known how to use the technology in the classroom using video clips, and other authentic and no authentic materials, text book, cell phone, postcards, music and other important teaching methods. Also, we have developed microteaching using the four strategies in English (reading, writing, speaking and listening). During the classes is necessary to apply the four skills in order to students developing their capacities for getting linguistic competence, create real situations where students can learn how speak front people or ask for information, in this way they will have success in the learning. Is important that teacher have into an account some strategies, in order to have success in the teaching English, which are: Develop the four skills: Listening is the most common skill used in the classroom; listening and speaking are taught together but, is necessary to make emphasis in listening in the beginning level. The four skills are equals of important we use them all day when we speak for cell phone, listen music, chat with others and read the newspaper this are actions that realized in our real life, and is important apply it in a second language learning in the same way. Students have difficulty in understand the mean of sentences when they read or listen in English Language, for this reason is important that teachers work more in theses skills, in order to improve the student´s knowledge. The grammar use: The use of the grammar is discusses for a lot people, many teachers ask themselves if the grammar is necessary in the classroom, we consider that it is important in learning English language, as support during the classes, and teacher should teach it bases in real situations for example create a situation where teacher teach to students how ask for information when a person visit a restaurant, park, museum, airport, supermarket eliminating the old methods of teaching.   • 2. book help teacher as support for teaching grammatical rules, but the teacher should study which topics of this book are important to use during the class and the appropriate form to teach it. Motivation: the motivation is a good strategy for learning, students enjoy when the classes are fun, when they can express their opinions, when the teacher makes games or song that students like, when the classes are funny for them. We knew that exist some types and kind of motivation and why is important that students are motivate during the learning teaching process. Students like classes with colorful poster, with using of computer, speaker, and short videos. If the students are motivated, they will learn more and teachers will have a satisfaction when his students obtain better scare. Use of didactic materials: teacher should use authentic and no authentic materials adapting to the context, this materials help that students feel conform in the classroom and they want to learn. We as teacher have that abandon the old methods of teaching where the teacher is front of his or her students explaining a topic and students only are receiving a knowledge, students have to participate in this process expressing their opinions, make debates, and having a critical thinking We have learnt about multiples intelligences it is important topic in teaching English. Students learn in different way and different times, for example exist some students that need more time and effort in completing a work class, for this reason teacher should identify which intelligences exist in her o his classroom, because some teacher only work in the two most know intelligences: the linguistic and mathematical intelligences leaving out all the other students with different intelligences, is important know this classes of intelligences for planning our lesson according with each one. For example the students with linguistic intelligences like read a book, magazine, make discussion and debates, other students with different intelligences like puzzle, draw, video, games, role play, other like work with other, have access to nature, or make community events. We also have learnt about the rules APA which is the format for citation sources in education, we use it when speak about the ideas of one person, or when we
  • 3. make a citation of one author or book, we knew about plagiarism which is a appropriation of another person's written or idea, is important know about this topic that is frequently in the school, because many students when teacher put a homework they only cut and paste information, this pass in almost all the school in our context, consequently is essential for we know about this topic. We have presented a microteaching class where the teacher had help us to correct the mistakes, that we sometimes make when we teach, for example mistakes in pronunciation or use of the materials for the classes. We learnt that is important to be prepare when we make a presentation, we should looking for unknown word in a good dictionary for have a correct meaning and pronunciation of this words. In conclusion, with this seminary we have learnt many things that during our career our teacher didn`t emphasize, for example in APA rules, the importance of the motivation in the classroom, the lack of motivation affect negatively the student`s learning, because this can origin bad behaviors, lack of interest or that students do not want to work. Now we filled many empty spaces, correcting many of our mistakes in writing and speaking. Every day we following learn with the objective of improve our English teaching in order to be the better teacher for our students, who need teacher each day more professional.
