This document defines several key coastal geology terms: long shore drift describes how waves push sediment along the coastline rather than back to its origin; erosion is caused by natural elements like wind and water; a clast is a fragment of rock broken from a larger rock; an estuary is where coastal and river waters meet; a prevailing wave is a surge created by tides; and a boulder bank has a base course and top course layer. The terms are defined by Harrison.
