Lake Rotoiti 2014
Learning Intention: to create a reflection from camp using Blooms Taxonomy. You must include at least one activity from each of the six levels of
knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
Do one task from each level in your draft writing book, get this checked by your buddy, then publish.
Level 1 – Knowledge
This is when you recall the facts. It requires you as a learner to remember factual information.
Write a recount about your personal experiences on camp. Choose just one
event and describe this event using interesting language. Write in such a
way that you create an image to the reader.
Include dialogue, similes, metaphors and personification
Write a poem or song about ‘a day in the life of being on camp at Rotoiti
Lodge’.
Your poem/song must have rhythm and pace.
If you choose to do the poem, include metaphors, similes or personification.
Date completed.......................................... Date completed .............................................
Level 2 – Comprehension
This level of thinking requires an understanding of the information being recalled. It requires you to interpret and explain facts.
Write a brief outline (3-5 paragraphs) explaining why it is important that
people co-operate and work as a team when on camp. Remember to end
with a conclusion
Draw a picture (A4) or a cartoon of some aspect of the camp that you
enjoyed and attach a caption stating what is happening in your picture.
Remember a picture can say a thousand words.
(Make sure you create a draft picture first)
Date completed ............................................. Date completed ...................................................
Level 3 – Application
This level of thinking involves using previously learned information and skills to solve new problems. It requires you as a learner to use new information in
new situation
Lake Rotoiti is a beautiful scenic part of New Zealand (Aoteoroa). Every day
Create a collage (using words and pictures from magazines ) to show the
hundreds of tourists visit Nelson Lakes National Park.
positive, minus and interesting issues of the below statement
Create a PMI which looks at the positives, interesting and negatives of
having tourists regularly visit such a beautiful place. (10 ideas in each
column at least)
Think of rubbish generated, wildlife, revenue, jobs, wasps....)

Level 4 Analysis
This level of thinking involves breaking down information into smaller parts. It requires you as a learner to examine (look at ) these parts and recognise
hidden meaning and relationships.
Compulsory
Using your questions you have designed in your home study book, interview a variety of people in the class. Using your information display how people felt
in an interesting way. You may want to do a CAF chart or a SWOT analysis.
Date completed .............................................
Level 5 Synthesis
This level of thinking involves the use of old ideas to create new ones. It requires you as the learner to predict and draw conclusions.
This can be done in pairs or groups of 4
Think about the activities (rotations) we did on camp. What would you add
or change?
Create a new itinerary of activities for one day at camp. You may research
this.
This can be done in pairs or groups of 4.
Think about the activities (rotations) we did on camp.
Construct a model of one of the activities you enjoyed at camp. Sketch a
draft plan first, bring in your materials and get busy building.

Level 6 Evaluation
This level of thinking involves judging the value of the information presented. It requires you as a learner to develop and apply standards and criteria when
evaluating information, ideas and material. It tests the learner’s ability to make sound choices after reviewing evidence.
Using the information about ‘attitude of going to camp’
Using the information you created about the ‘purpose of going to camp’;
Write examples of how your attitude made camp enjoyable for all.
write examples of how you achieved these purposes.

Success Criteria Effort Achieve
Effort A Outstanding B Consistent C Variable
Selects from a range of vocabulary to suit the audience (the reader) and the purpose (the reason why you write)
