Current challenges of the Basque Health System Page Nº  Current Scenario The Basque Health System presents a potential for development and improvement to increase the value proposition of welfare services to the basque citizens : The clinical practice has been indifferent to the revolutionary changes in information and communication technologies. Care processes are exclusively oriented to face-to-face activities where a professional interacts directly with a patient. However … Patients with chronic diseases are treated only on a scheduled way So … Consequences Professionals feel unmotivated for doing low added value activities.  Low added value consultations have a  disproportionate impact on the life and work of the citizen. Inefficiencies occur in the health system and in the use of resources. Lost opportunities to improve patient care, acting before the occurrence of episodes of destabilization. No information between dates Not being able to prevent crisis In 70% of consultations interaction is exclusively verbal Many consultations oriented to the accomplishment of administrative procedures and requirements
