2. Planning of Models
• I wanted to have a professional and feminist approach when it came to models, therefore my main protagonists are all female. Although my
target audience is ‘Rock heads’ to incorporate a rock look the make up will be more visible and clear and I will dress the model in black to
add to the idea of death metal, but will have a simplistic approach therefore photographing my model in the studio to have a plain
background.
3. Location Scouting
• When photographing my models I wanted to purely focus on the Mise-en-scene. Therefore used a studio to get the minimalistic
background. For my double page spread I want the photo to make the reader feel as if they are part of the fan craze for the specified group,
To do this I will use a photo I took during a concert, This way the viewer will get the impression of being part of the crowd.
4. Costume
• Many rock artists and photo shoots usually include jackets and loose hair, as this is seen as the norm for rebellious people. In terms of the
colour for the clothing I will make the photo black and white to add the simplistic approach also I feel as if this gives a more classical look for
the protagonist. Adding colour I feel like this would distract the reader from the idea of feminism that I want to put forward. With make up,
although I'm creating the image black and white I want to make the look bold and strong as this gives across a fierce look towards the
audience.
5. Lighting, Props, Kit list
• Lighting, I want to use three key point lighting as this gives the face more definition as well as highlighting the important factors of the
costume. I also want to use a soft umbrella against the light to make the image have a soft look. I don’t want to use any props as again I feel
like this would distract the viewer from my idea of a minimalistic approach.
My Kit list includes: Softbox, Studio Umbrella, Camera, White backdrop, stool.
