Why I chose the Photos that are present within my Music Magazine
1.
2.
3. • I chose to use this picture because of
the fact that it is a mid shot, this
allowed me to show off more of my
model. This fit into the convention of
cover page models being mid shot to
draw the readers attention to them.
• I also picked it due to the models
facial expression, which shows the
emotions of confidence which is
exhibited by the fact that he is
looking straight at the camera, as if
he is challenging the audience.
• The guitar that he is holding also
gives the audience that he must be
associated with music which is the
genre of the magazine that I am
making.
4. • I chose not to use this picture as the
models expression gives the
inference of confusion and not
confidence which is what I had
planned for my cover page.
• Also the mid-close shot does not
allow me to manipulate the picture to
make the model the main focus as it
limits the exposure of the model that
I have to work with.
• Also the picture does not give any
inference that the model is associated
with music, which is an essential
feature that I wanted for my cover
page picture.
5.
6. • I chose this image because since
it is a mid shot, this allows the
reader to get a closer look at the
model, which coincides with
another reason, the model’s
facial expression, which is one of
seriousness and contemplation,
this fit with the story that was
planned for this image.
• The lighting of the image altered
its atmosphere to make the
image kook moodier and more
intense.
• Also the body positioning of the
model gives off the impression
that of superiority, as he is facing
away from the audience.
7. • I didn’t chose this photo as the body
positioning of the model is off, this is
due to the fact that the model was
leaning backwards and this creates an
emphasis on the torso of the model,
while the face looses the focus of the
audience.
• This means that the facial expression
of the model, which should be a focal
point of the image is ignored, which
means that the audience would miss
the models expressions.
• Also the shot is a long-mid shot, this
draws the audience away from the
model, which subsequently makes the
image less eye catching which reduce
the chance that the audience would be
intrigued by the image and stick to it.
8. • I chose to use this image because
the model is in a central position
within the framing of the photo,
this would allow me more
flexibility when working with this
image.
• The model is facing towards the
camera which increases the
interaction with the audience,
which would increase the success
of this photo in attracting the
audiences attention.
9. • I chose not to use this image
because the positioning of the
model within the frame was not
though out properly, because of
this part of the model was lost, and
making reducing the quality of the
image.
• The body language that is given off
by the artist is a little bit negative,
as he is slouching a little, which
provides a negative portrayal and
as such provides a negative
interpretation to the audience.
10.
11. • I chose to use this photo as it is a
landscape photo and the
increased width of the photo
meant that I could extend the
image over both pages of my
double page spread, this would
mean that there would be a
theme that would link both pages
of the article together.
• Also the way that the model is
interacting with the guitar gives
the inference that he must know
what he’s doing, this plays to the
musical genre of the magazine.
• the lighting of the iamge lights
up the models face with creates
an emphasis there, which catches
the eye of the reader and draws
their attention
12. • I didn’t choose this photo, because
models eye line is off to the side of
the photo, and this presents no
point for the audience to interact
with the model, which means that
they would be more likely to skip
over this image
• Also the model is holding guitar
with no professionalism which
gives the inference that he can’t
play the guitar and that he is just a
model and not an actual musician.
• Also the mid-long shot gives me
too much of the artist to work with
and that to effectively position this
image on the page I would need to
cut off some of the image, which
makes this image impractical.
