2. •I chose to take a high angled
shot of my model here. I
intended it to be a full body
shot, but as I took the photo a
shadow appeared at the
bottom of the photo, this
shadow was what lead me to
do what I did when editing the
photo. In the photo, the model
is seen wearing a white shirt
and a jacket that’s currently in
style.
3. •I used Photoshop to edit this photo.
•In this picture, I decided to increase
the brightness, so that the shadow at
the bottom stands out more for effect.
•I then made the decision to higher
the contrast, I felt that this was
effective because it changed parts of
the picture to seem more bleak which
could be linked in to a the genre of
music or into a colour scheme of the
magazine.
•Finally, I lowered the saturation of the
picture, this picked up on the vibrant
colours, such as the models face and
the bucket in the background and
made them a softer colour.
4. • While taking this photo, I
asked my model to pose in
this way so that he came
across as a very chilled out
person and that he isn’t
really bothered about what
people think of him.
• I had him dress in these
clothes, black suit and white
shirt because I wanted to
loosely base the style of
Arctic Monkeys front man,
Alex Turner. I did this
because the Arctic Monkeys
are a big band in the indie
pop and music industry.
5. • I edited this photo in Photoshop.
• I first put a black and white filter on
the whole picture to give an effect of
it being more mysterious.
• After, I decided to decreased the
warmth of the picture. This gave the
picture a more urban look and
allowed the different shades to flow
into each other better.
• I decreased the saturation of the
picture to make the black and white
filter stand out better. I feel like this
change made the finish of the black
and white look slightly more
professional.
• Finally, I increased the depth of the
shadows under the model, I believe
that this completed the picture and
left it with all parts of my editing
complementing each other.
6. • Here I took a full body shot of
my model. I did not tell the
model to pose in any particular
way in this photo, it was taken
while we were just having a
conversation but actually come
across quite effectively as it
looks completely natural and
shows the model having a
laugh, which could work well
as to showing the reader that
he might not be the way he is
portrayed.
• I did however, tell him to stand
in front of the brick wall. I did
this because if I did choose to
further develop this photo, the
brick wall could look very
effective.
7. • I used Photoshop to edit this
picture.
• I decreased the saturation of
the photo in order to make it
look a little vintage and old, this
was to link it in with the genre
of music that I am basing my
magazine on.
• I also added a grain effect to
also make the picture look a
little more dated.
• Finally, I increased the
brightness of the whole photo, I
did this because of the poor
lighting outside, this did
however have a positive effect
because it made the model’s
clothing stand out more from
the background.
8. • In this photo, I asked
the model to look away
from the camera in
order for him to come
across as mysterious
because we cannot see
his direct eyes.
• I chose him to be
wearing the black
jacket to illustrate that
he can have more than
one look, with the black
suit and the bigger coat
being his others.
9. • Again, I used Photoshop to
edit this picture.
• While editing this photo, I
first changed the filter to
black and white again, I
believe that the black and
white filter works well when
the model is wearing black
and white clothes.
• I then used the sharpen tool
in order to make the image
stand out from itself.
• Finally I played with the
contrast in order to find the
perfect level for the models
facial features, such as his
jaw line.
10. • This is one of my
favourite shots from the
photo shoot. This is
because it shows off the
models facial features
and by looking at it I can
already vision what I
want to do with the
picture in my magazine.
• I used a mid shot and a
high angled shot, I also
had the model looking
directly at the camera,
this was to create the
thought of confidence.
11. • I edited this photo using
Photoshop.
• I turned the contrast of the
photo down, this was so that the
models cheek bones were more
visible.
• I then tweaked the brightness
slightly. I turned it up to make my
model look slightly less pale in
the picture.
• To finish, I made the shadows
darker. I did this in order to make
the models jaw line more
noticeable. I was able to do this
because of the slight shadow
under the models chin.
