This paper presents a novel approach for optimal capacitor placement in radial distribution systems, utilizing the Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to enhance voltage profiles and reduce power losses. The methodology is divided into two parts: identifying candidate locations using loss sensitivity factors, and determining capacitor sizes as discrete variables through SFLA. The proposed method was successfully tested on a 45-bus system, demonstrating significant improvements in system performance compared to previous techniques.
