Aaron delivered this presentation during the Meeting Professionals International – Michigan Chapter luncheon meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Grand Rapids, MI.

This presentation will provide practical tips for making it through the anxiety of teaching outside one’s comfort zone.
I presented a short talk on innovation and building breakthrough ideas at in5, Innovation Centre (part of Dubai Internet City). The event was part of UAE Innovation Week program #UAE_Innovates. My session covered a number of lessons and insights from my experience on how to think in an innovative way.

Talk presented at Testlio meetup (9.11.2016 in Tallinn).
Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/172450956546962/
Abstract:
What is the difference between observation and interpretation? How to get the results you want? How to make a toast?
This talk ties together answers to these questions and explores the ways in which you can analyze and work with your process to get results. After all, just focusing on results will not get you there. To work on your stuff, you need to know what kind of process will help you do that. Hence, you need to balance thinking of your stuff and thinking of your process.
Dr Rob Yeung is a director at leadership consulting firm Talentspace (www.talentspace.co.uk), Dr Rob Yeung specialises in the assessment and development of leaders at organisations ranging from HSBC and KPMG to small, often venture-backed start-ups. He is the author of over 20 management books which have been translated into dozens of languages worldwide, including the current bestseller How To Win: The Argument, the Pitch, the Job, the Race (Capstone). Rob shared findings at thefuturestory from a decade of research that has identified ‘organisational savvy’ as a skill related to success in the workplace and demonstrate how we can develop that skill in ourselves to increase influence and personal impact.
My students usually feel difficulty in adjusting to the changing learning demands of University studies. I have prepared this slideshow to deliver on orientation session.

Editor's Notes
Life is full of challenges and studying at University is no exception. You will be constantly gaining new skills and knowledge and sometimes, some of you may require support with your assignments. This will be available in many forms: yourself, your Faculty, your fellow students, and additional university services eg Study Skills.
In this short presentation, I will attempt to answer some of the questions which students (and parents) traditionally ask.
For many students this will be the first time that they study away from home and for some it takes time getting used to studying independently and managing time.Depending on your previous educational experiences, another major difference is the academic style of writing (including referencing). For others it may be the first time an opportunity has arisen to given a presentation.Collaboration and peer learning is an essential part of many higher education programs and can cause some initial concerns.
Students can find the transition from college to higher education initially quite daunting and gain confidence from talking about how to tackle their assignmentsBut, mostly students want to achieve their best and be rewarded for their efforts.
We do work traditional office hours but (apart from public holidays) staff are available all year round. We regularly see students by appointment outside of these hours (normally between 8am and 8pm).In order to support students, who will work all hours of the day and night, most of our resources are also available on the website.

We have 2 main offices: one in Stafford and the other in Stoke. Most of our students do prefer personal contact – 455 planned visitors to the 2 centres in the last academic year. However, we do appreciate that this is not always possible, or preferable. Consultations can take place via phone, email or using the internet in a variety of ways.We attempt to blend the personal touch with the most up-to-date web technologies.
On the Stafford site, there are 2 Academic Skills Tutors – Liz Tomkinson and Soo Plant.
But the choice is yours.Hopefully, you will take control of your own learning and make use of all the services provided at Staffordshire University.
In summaryStudy skills can provide support in a timely manor which is unique and dedicated to you.By strengthening your academic skills you will be able to demonstrate your new found knowledge and move towards becoming independent learners.Listen to our expert advice and you could learn new skills, be successful and achieve rewards for your efforts.
