The Cross Cultural Communication Issues
On the whole, this paper will identify four other major possible cross cultural issues as analysed
below.
First, the cross cultural communication issue may arise and there are mainly 3 factors contributing
to the communication barriers in such case.
For starters, the factor of culture difference (Moslehpour et al. 2016) present itself. As given in the
case study, both of the SSSL executives and Saran are all from India, but the target Qatari market
and the people, including both Sheikhs and host country nationals, that they have to deal with,
share the Islamic culture or Arab culture, which distinctly differ from India s religious belief
Hinduism or Buddhism culture.
In the next place, the factor of perception difference and experience difference (Beeber et al.
2014) may occur as a result of culture differences. Since culture can influence the way people
perceive things and usually lead to diverse life events among individuals (Nisbett and Miyamoto
2005), people from Qatar and India may have different solutions and reactions to the same problem
in the future. At the minimum, conflicts or stereotyping may occur among the host country
nationals and expatriates; at the maximum, the major decisions regarding the development and
future direction of this partnership business for both sides chief executives may go separate ways.
All three major differences outlined above interactively influence the cross cultural communication
process by creating noise (Francesco and

Christine De Pizan Thesis
Born in Italy in 1364 but relocating to Paris, France a few years after, Christine de Pizan wrote
her literary work in the French vernacular. She was on her way to becoming a skillful scholar as
a child with a high intellectual interest and as a part of the royal court of Charles V, she had
many learning opportunities, Christine was exposed to a wide range of experiences that she
apparently used to her full advantage (Birk 17). Her most significant work was her involvement in
the querelle des femmes (the women s quarrel), in which she participated in a years long debate
known as the Debate on the Romance of the Rose. Christine s argument in the debate was an
important benefactor in the advancement of women in the Middle Ages. With her literary
contributions, such as the God of Love s Letter, The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A continuation of her defense of women, Christine begins the book by admitting to believing
the men who wrote about women because as scholars, they could not possibly write anything
but factual things. She is visited by three allegorical ladies who not only help her realize that she
is wrong in believing those male scholars, but also in helping Christine built the city that will be
inhabited by the ladies. Christine uses this tidbit of believing the men as her driving force to
showcase how important it is for people to recognize that the misogynistic writings are an issue
that many fall in line with because of the trust in noble scholars. Her intentions in creating this
city is to protect those virtuous and favorable women from the negative reputation that has
beseeched them. The city is a safe haven for these ladies as they continue to live in a society
where the status quo is one that looks down on them for opinions and beliefs that even they have
started to believe despite knowing that not all women are as evil as they are portrayed to be

Subprime Lending
Defining Subprime Lending The problem to be investigated is the effect of subprime mortgage
loans on the economy. According to Merriam Webster subprime is defined as having or being an
interest rate that is higher than a prime rate and is extended especially to low income borrowers;
extending or obtaining a subprime loan(Webster, 2012). Subprime mortgageloans are loans given to
people with a low credit score. Subprime borrowers normally don t qualify for prime loans or
prime lending. According to Jennings, the subprime mortgage market is defined to include those
borrowers with a FICO (Fair Isaac Co.) score below 570 (Jennings, 2012, p. 434).

The vast majority of subprime loans are now securitized; leading to claims that securitization
facilitates predatory lending and should actively police lenders. New standards to protect borrowers
against unfair practices were launched 1 July including requirements to ensure they are not lured
into credit contracts they cannot afford to repay. The standards include provisions to stop predatory
lenders from exploitative practices such as using household items as security for cash loans (Engel,
K. amp; McCoy, 2007).
Lender and Incentives One has to wonder, why were subprime loans pitched to consumers? They
weren t pushed for altruistic purposes; not from the kindness of the heart. The results were
inevitable. According to the readings, subprime loans ended with the same result. They were a risk
for the consumer as well as the bank backing the loan. There had to be some incentive for the
banks; some benefit that is reaped. In this case, it was a monetary benefit.
Yield spread premiums is what lenders call them. Consumer groups call them legal kickbacks.
YSPs are the cash that mortgage brokers or lenders get for steering a borrower into a home loan
with a higher interest rate (Center for Responsible Lending, Yield Spread Premiums (YSPS).
However, the Federal Reserve stepped in and regulated these kickbacks.
New rules issued by the Federal Reserve Board mean that YSPs are no longer legal. The Fed rules
ban brokers and loan officers from

The Elements Of Buddhist Art
In Ancient Pakistan, an area of land known as Gandhara produced a great deal of Buddhist art.
The works had a very specific style and set of influences that have been compared by art historians
throughout time. The image of what a people call the Gandharan Buddha is easily recognizable for
its distinct features. However, this image is not always universal between Gandharan art. Different
works can share similar features and distinction, but can also have many differences. These can lie
in not only the subjects and how they are approached, but also in the way different areas of the
region approach their art. In order to fully understand Gandharan Buddhist art, it is important to
look at pieces with different subjects, mediums, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These physical attributes, along with symbolic garb and poses are fairly universal across the
Asian continent and the Buddhist art that was created over time. Gandhara was a region
between modern day Pakistan and Afghanistan. Specifically, during the Kushan Period, lasting
from the late 1st c. BCE to the 3rd c. CE, many images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were created
with similar styles. With its close proximity to the Mediterranean and the carrying of culture
along the silk road, artistic influence from Greek and Roman civilization found its way into
works made at this time. Great attention was given to the face. A content expression, with
rounded eyebrows that connect to a flat nose, hollow eyes without pupils, and plump limps can
be found on not only statues of Buddhist figures, but also on statues of the Roman gods and
goddesses. A great detail went into the hair and depiction of the human form across these two
art styles. Just by looking at a statue of the Buddha from Gandhara and a roman statue of an
important figure, it looks like they could be from the same place. However, it was the way the
silk road allowed cultures to interact and influence each other that caused this connection.
Looking at the Gandharan pieces found at the Sackler Gallery, it is easy to see how the Roman
influence carried over to many works of art. Looking specifically at a statue of the head of the
Buddha (Figure 1), one can get an

European Refugee Crisis Essay
The European refugee crisis began in 2015, when a rising number of refugees and migrants
made the journey to the European Union (EU) to seek asylum. Refugees are people who have
been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.
According to the data that was shown in Business Standard and also confirmed by BBC News,
the top ten nations which account for 90% of the sea arrivals in 2015 were: Syria (49%),
Afghanistan (21%), Iraq (8%), Eritrea (4%), Pakistan, Nigeria and Somalia (2 %), Sudan, Gambia
and Mali (1%). Also the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees confirms that the top
three nationalities of refugees are Syrian, Afghan and Iraqi. Of the refugees and migrants arriving in
Europeby sea in 2015, 58% were men, 17% women and 25% children. (Wright, 2015). According to
Eurostat, EU member states received over 1.2 million first time asylum applications in 2015, 4
countries (Germany, Hungary, Sweden, and Austria) received around two thirds, while Latvia
received a very small part of them.
Latvia did not have any experience receiving or integrating refugees from other parts of the
world before refugee s crisis in Europe. At this moment, in Latvia the number of refugees is 776.
Unfortunately, the society s attitude towards refugees is negative in Latvia, if Latvia could they
would not take any more refugees, however, because Latvia is in EU Latvia has received an quota

United States Federal Bureau Of Investigation Defines...
Terrorism has been creating havoc across the globe for the entirety of recorded history. Today, with
the invention of the Internet and different computer programs, these radical groups that enact these
deadly attacks are able to change the way they operate through the use of technological advances to
further their onslaught on humanity. The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation defines
terrorismas the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or
coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political
or social objectives. (International vs. Domestic Terrorism). Every person on the planet can be
affected by terrorism, regardless of religion, gender, or race. Throughout history radical groups
who become obsessed with their own opinions and beliefs try to force others to believe in their
views through displays of violence and terror. Contrary to modern beliefs that terrorists are only
radical Islam groups like Al Qaeda and Isis, but in reality almost every group of people from
Christians to even environmentalists have enacted radical terrorist attacks. Terrorism, like
technology, is not exclusive to industrialized nations or countries but is available to anyone with the
right resources. These technologies are used throughout the world to connect average people to
others and is almost always used for good. Terrorist organizations take advantage of new found

“Your Arkansas Travelerв
Ђќ Is A Short Story Detailing The
Your Arkansas Traveler is a short story detailing the rise and fall of a charismatic but egotistical
radio host named Lonesome Rhodes. It was adapted into a feature length film titled A Face in the
Crowd, which remains quite faithful to the original work but expands greatly upon it by adding or
altering several main events.
Your Arkansas Traveler is told in a first person perspective by a radio hostess named Marcia. While
Marcia is witty and somewhat sarcastic, the deuteragonist of the story and foil to Marcia, Lonesome
Rhodes is very blunt in his speech and quite unstable throughout the story.
Marcia sits in her apartment reading Lonesome s fan mail when she receives a phone call from a
woman claiming to be Lonesome s wife. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, there is quite a lot of evidence to support the idea that Lonesome may suffer
from a mental illness such as psychopathy. Psychopaths are often incredibly charming, manipulative
individuals who lack empathy. Earlier in the story, Lonesome attempts to convince Marcia to marry
him by threating to commit suicide if she declines. This tactic is often used by abusive individuals
who are attempting to convince an abused individual to stay in a relationship with them.
Furthermore, Lonesome also has an extremely inflated ego, another major indicator of psychopathy.
Lonesome s wife states that she wants three thousand dollars a month before she will divorce
Lonesome, threatening to make Lonesome and Marcia s lives harder should he decline her offer.
Marcia suggests that Lonesome and his wife sort the divorce out between themselves, and
Lonesome s wife provides further evidence to support that Lonesome suffers from psychopathy by
stating that he begins and ends relationships in quick succession, which is an indicator of
psychopathy. Having had enough of Lonesome s wife, Marcia escorts her out of her apartment.
Your Arkansas Traveler was adapted into a film titled A Face in the Crowd. Though it remains
quite faithful the work it is based on, it expands upon Lonesome s rise to fame. Another noteworthy
change is the perspective, which is changed from first person in the short story to third person in the
film.

After 15 weeks, the amount of movement begins to decline because there is little room within the

Male brains seem to be 8% to 13% larger in volume compared to a woman s brain. Certain areas of
the brain that are larger in men include the structures that play a role in controlling language,
memory, emotion and behavior. Though men seem to have sightly larger brain, there seem to be no
cognitive differences. Overall, researchers were unable to find any patterns that created a
distinction between men and women. Multiple studies examined multiple structures in the brain
including the volume of gray matter and the connections between different parts of the brain. All of
these studies found similar findings. A very small percentage of these brains were exclusively male
or female, while the majority of them were showed substantial variability between the male and
female traits. This article concluded by explaining one finally study that studied the brain during
activities that were considered highly gender stereotyped activities. Once again, the findings were
the same. Only 1.2% of these brains were exclusively male or female, while 55% had traits from
both males and females. These findings play a vary important role in how society perceives males
and females. These findings don t support these socially constructed views. It seems that these
differences in brain structures can also stem from how our society shapes the development of
males compared to females. If men and women were treated equally throughout life, their may be
less brains that are considered exclusively male or

Essay On Bilingualism
Twenty percent of the population can be considered bilingual in the U.S today. They re over 311
different languages spoken in the United States. Living in the States, there has become a popular
belief that English is the only language that should be spoken. It s astonishing people don t
apprehend they re thousands of languages worldwide and U.S citizens are trying to be self centered
around one language, English. Therefore, this has generated tension throughout by cultural warfare.
Cultural warfare has been brought to this world created from individuality and creating own
identities. Bilingualism has created a window to connect with others around us from all over the
world. Without knowing more than one language, we would be restricted from many people and
opportunities of living an extraordinary, passionate culture.
Espada s ideas of bilingualism is expressed in several ways. Martin Espada s main idea he makes
clear to the reader is keeping loyalty to your own culture and traditions. Secondly, bilingualism can
create culture warfare between two languages. Espada argues the majority of the people want
english to become the only language and culture in the United States. But, Espada wants to keep
diversity alive. In, New Bathroom Policy at English High School there was a scenario of a
principle listening to kids in the bathroom speaking spanish and had heard his own name and was
unable to understand what they were saying about him. The principle was displeased by the boys

The Search For Happiness
Happiness is something that everyone, regardless of their background and experiences, search for
in life. This search for happiness is manifested in countless novels, theatrical plays, and films, and
involves at least one character who struggles to find purpose and joy in their life. A common theme
in these stories is the character s impression that there is something missing or inadequate with
aspects of their current identity. Thus, they believe that they must complete the missing piece of
themselves to achieve happiness. This is best demonstrated by Amedeo/Ahmed in A Clash of
Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio and Xavier in L Auberge Espagnole. I believe that
one s conceptualization of their identity is actually an obstacle to happiness and that one can only
be truly happy once they embrace their true identity, which is often much different from the one
they imagine. A Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio by Amara Lakhous
focuses extensively on the importance of identity in one s life, mainly in relation to ethnicity and
religion. Identity plays such an important role in the characters lives that it dominates the way the
perceive each other, leading them to radical and often negative conclusions. For example, when
interviewed about a murder, the character Benedetta makes statements like I m suspicious of that
Albanian friend of Amadeo s (Lakhous 36) and I m sure the murderer of Lorenzo Manfredini is one
of the immigrants (Lakhous

Zen Tradition Essay
Zen Tradition
The forefather of Madhyamika Buddhism was Nagarjuna. T.P. Kasulis writes in his book, Zen
Action, Zen Person that Nagarjuna was a predecessor to the development of Zen Buddhism.
Nagarjuna is regarded though as a patriarch of the Zen tradition. He was the affecting principle to
demonstrate logically the emptiness , or rather sunyata of philosophical distinctions. Kasulis also
explores Nagarjuna s Logic of Emptiness. The Buddhist claimed that to be concerned with
speculative questions is like being concerned with the origin of a poisoned arrow while it is still in

nothing at all continued from the cause into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So what Nagarjuna was saying was that these distinctions that the Abhidharma Buddhist believed in
eventually lead to absurdities that cannot be escaped from. Kasulis focuses on two of Nagarjuna s
points or rather critiques against the Abhidharma; time and causality. Nagarjuna s critique on time
can be seen as a good introduction to his methodology. Nagarjuna argues four points against time.
The first critique is that if the existence of the present and future depends upon the past, then
present and future should be in the past (Kasulis). An example from my life to help illustrate
this point would be driving. The past is when I was 16 years old and I got my driver s license.
The present is me currently driving and the future is that I will have a wreck. If the present
(driving) and the future (my wreck) depends on the past (my obtaining my drivers license), then
my being able to drive (present), and my having a wreck (future) should be in the past.
Nagarjuna s second critique against time is that if present and future was not in the past, how could
present and future is dependent upon the past? It can be illustrated this way. If my driving (present)
and my having a wreck (future) are not in the past then how could my driving (present) and my
having a wreck (future) are dependent upon my obtaining my license?

Timurid Mihrab Essay
In the Timurid Mihrab, the artist uses line, high relief, and vibrant primary and secondary colors to
convey a sense of whimsical but organized piece, emphasis of line and color, thus representing the
feel of the Timurid era, and harmonious aesthetics of Islamic tile work.
This piece was created in the second half of the 14th century between(c. 1370 1507), and has
believed to be used as an adornment to mosques, mausoleums, and other dynastic buildings.
The colors of the Timurid Mihrab, white, cyan, and blue do a great job of catching the eye and

The dark blue on the exterior seems to have a dark value, but the most eye catching part of the

appealing part of the Timurid Mihrab is the line used in the carvings while they are not the most

Unlike MarГa Eugenia, Edna in Kate Chopin s The Awakening chooses not to fill her family s
expectations. As she takes her final steps into the sea she thinks to herself: they need not have
thought that they could possess her, body and soul (655). Edna treasures her autonomy and chooses
death over familial subjugation. However her transformational journey, alluded to by the title of the
novel leads to more than the rejection of her self sacrificing familial roles as wife and mother and
her death.
We first meet Edna on her way back from a swim with Robert Lebrun, as Chopin begins to establish
Edna s burgeoning transformation in the context of her relationship with Robert and to ... Show

She can find no happy medium between being the model wife and mother that her friend, Madame
Ratignolle represents and the independent artist that Madame Reisz represents, while pursuing her
relationship with Robert and staying true to herself.
From the beginning of the story, the reader is alerted to the fact that Edna is experiencing an inner
struggle to reconcile her relationships with Mr. Pontellier, Robert, and herself. When Edna comes
back from her swim with Robert, Mr. Pontellier criticizes her; What folly! to bathe at such an hour
in such heat! (Chopin 522). From the outset, Mr. Pontellier is opposed to the engagement with the
water that Robert and Edna share. He is neither cognizant of the fact that Edna and Robert are
falling in love, nor is he supportive of Edna s transformation.
Later on in the story after Edna has taken up painting and refuses to receive callers, Mr. Pontellier
calls up his friend, Dr. Mandelet to evaluate Edna s mental state. Mr. Pontellier s action is
indicative of the women artist s position in society at the time, what Virginia Woolf refers to as the
crazy woman in the attic. During the late 1800 s, women that pursued their lives independently
were thought of as insane. Madame Reisz represents this stereotype in the novel as the single,
eccentric, piano playing, abrasive old woman who encourages Edna to pursue her art. In contrast,
Madame Ratignolle represents the ideal woman in society, a dedicated wife and

Soam Department of Computer Science Engineering Institute of Engineering Technology, Lucknow
Institute of Engineering Technology Lucknow Abstract We propose a system that shall enable a
SCHOOL MANAGEMENT SYASTEM interfaced with a computer to be managed remotely using
personal computers. A client running on the user s computer would connect to a central server,
over an Internet connection. The user could then use a HTTP protocol from a personal computer
to connect to the central server, and issue requests for borrowing books. In this report we describe

When people have a good connectivity at their disposal, with tremendous power of distributed
computing to supplement the same, we can think of connecting their personal computers to the
real world applications of managing school or any institute . With this, people would be able to
connect and disconnect, and manage the handling of school at their home even from a distant
place. One of the very basic examples of a utility of this is there is no old file system now, every
task is now online. Students can deposit their school fees online now either by credit/debit cards
or by internet banking via bank gateway.Student registration will be online,Hostel allotment,Mess
bills,Libray management will all come under this. 1.1 Few Terms This Project is a web
application developed for managing Institute of Engineering Technology. This project will work as
an interface between the students and faculty members of the college . It will be able to keep the
records of all the students, their attendances, salaries of faculty members, mess bills of students, data
about hostels, and will allow them to register themselves on our site to seek for the study materials
from library even. This Project chiefly focuses on: School: A school is a collection of
students, faculties, information, sources, resources, and services: it is organized for use and

Nic Nick Sabin As A Head Football Coach
A coach of any kink is important for any team to run and function in an appropriate manner. They
keep the team in good condition, ready for the next task, and how to have an open mind about
anything that comes their way. Coaches need to be flexible and be able to move things around as
things and people change daily. Coaches are leaders and have the potential to inspire many people
they come in contact with. With the right coach people and teams can get many things
accomplished in a fast and appropriate manner. This is a skillmany employers look for.
I have chosen to use Nick Sabin. For those of you who do not know who he is he is the head
football coach for The University of Alabama. They have just won another national
championship. I have been fan since I can remember and when my grandmother passed away I
received all her Alabama memorabilia. He is a respected coach by many people, players, as well as

one and group discussions. This reinforces teamwork and defuses conflict, they need to be able to
withhold judgment, acknowledge one another s contributions, deal fairly with problems, and
display openness. This gives him the upper hand in coaching on and off the field. That same

Difference Between Apple Watch Vs Samsung
Apple Watch Vs Samsung Gear S2 The ultimate comparison
Wearable technology has grown in impetus with the introduction of smart watches by Apple and
Samsung.
They promise great new features and high end performance which are met with stylish designs and
comfortable wearing.
Samsung, the big name in the industry is battling out for victory against the smart elegance of
Apple which only releases the most comprehensive products.
The big debate rose because of their similar launch dates and people have grown great interest on
the products. So, let us compare the two smart watches released by these techno giants and elicit a
conclusion.

As one can expect, the two smart watches are aesthetically attractive and there is no remark for

Whereas, the price of Gear S2 is $299, with a slight increase of price according to the versions but
it never exceeds the base price of Apple. Thus, Samsung is comfortable for the hand and the pocket
as well.
Winner: Samsung Gear S2
Loser: Apple watch
Verdict
There is not much to differentiate between the two watches and it a difficult choice to make when
one has to select from them. Apple provides great variety through multiple straps and casings;
whereas Samsung offers reliability through battery life and comfort.
In such cases, people prefer the better brand which is Apple. But this should be done when money
is not an issue and charging daily is not a problem.
Samsung Gear S2 is a serious competitor with great affordability and style which is backed up by
a great battery. Although the performance is same for the two smart watches Gear S2 is the better
choice because of many advantages it has, which are elaborated above.
However, do remember that the margin between the two smart watches is very thin and the
developers should be credited for the wonderful job they have done to bring such excellent
technology to the market.

Analysis of Bruce Dawe s Anti-War Poem, Homecoming Essay
An anti war poem inspired by the events of the Vietnam War, Homecoming inspires us to think
about the victims of the war: not only the soldiers who suffered but also the mortuary workers
tagging the bodies and the families of those who died in the fighting. The author, Australian poet
Bruce Dawe, wrote the poem in response to a news article describing how, at Californian
Oaklands Air /Base, at one end of the airport families were farewelling their sons as they left for
Vietnam and at the other end the bodies of dead soldiers were being brought home. Additionally,
he wrote in response to a photograph, publishes in Newsweek, of American tanks (termed Grants in
the poem) piled with the bodies of the dead soldiers as they returned to the... Show more content on

These sections allow for a change in emotion as each represents a separate part of the
homecoming : Saigon describes the packaging of the bodies and how the soldiers are zipped up
in green plastic bags; the flight represents the travel home, which metaphorically could also be
their souls to heaven; and the third section is the arrival of the bodies in Australia. The use of
pronouns gives the first two sections an emotionless feel as we do not learn specific names or
information about the victims. However, when the scene changes to urban Australia in the final
section the emotion changes to grief and regret for the families. The emotion of the speaker is
indicated by signature language, the poet describing how telegrams tremble like leaves from a
wintering tree and small towns where dogs in the frozen sunset raise muzzles in mute salute .
Comparing the telegrams fluttering to the ground to leaves falling from a tree in winter reinforces
our assumption of the tragic news contained within the telegrams: the wintering tree is clearly a
metaphor for death and hence we know that enclosed within the telegrams is notification of the
soldiers demise. Equally moving is the reference to man s best friend mourning its loss, the poet
describing how the dogs respectfully acknowledge the precious

The Pale Blue Dot, By Joel Achenbach
People often think about how vast, or how important the Earth is, it is the domain of the human
race. Where they strive to be the best, compete against others, world powers against another. But, in
the vast reality of the cosmos, the Earth, is nothing more than a tiny little pale blue dot. Described
none other than Carl Sagan, The Pale Blue Dot, reveals the scary reality about the placement of the
human race in the enveloping cosmic dark. In his quote, Sagan uses pathos and logos about this
reality, opening a deeper understanding that beyond the planet Earth, humans are nothing more than
insignificant. He has revolutionized the way that people view our home, and the cosmos around it.

The mission brought back stunning evidence that the people behind the mission didn t

was among those who persuaded NASA to aim the spacecraft s camera back toward Earth, by then

Theme Of Women In A Gun For Sale By Graham Greene
Graham Greene has written many novels in his life and has placed his experiences within his
stories. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out his views on society.
Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and usually, these literary tropes included
the women of his novel. Two of his books A Gun for Sale and Brighton Rock
leave Greene s female
counterparts feeling unsatisfied with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they
appear to only influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s
female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the relationships, while the
men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil. Greene utilizes the theme of innocence
versus corruption, to develop the characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun
for Sale, as well as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the
corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism.
Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together to showcase
the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these words mean? If
innocence means those who are free from guilt or sin through being unacquainted with evil, then
none of the characters in Greene s novels would ever be considered innocent because they all at one
point or throughout the entire story are acquainted with evil. However,

According to Wikipedia, Greenhouses, a third and final way to make a building more sustainable
is that we can build a greenhouse to grow our own crops and we can benefit from this because it
cost a lot to serve about 500 students but with a greenhouse we can get our food for free. We can
also sell the food we grow and with that money we can buy wind turbines, and in fact they re
pretty cheap to build! Actually a group of 5 boys can do it,why can t you? pg.5 Conclusion
There are many ways that us humans can do to make a building more sustainable. Maybe we can
just start with the little things, and in the near future when we have more advanced technology we
can invent even greener inventions, but it all starts with you, together we can generate, create, and

A Long-Standing Issue Within The Community Of Nursing Is
A long standing issue within the community of nursing is an inconsistency of care related to
patients who present multiple times to the emergency department. The journal article, Patient
experience in the emergency department: inconsistencies in the ethic and duty of care, explores the
issue of multiple presentations to the emergency department, the ethicsand duty of care they
receive, and how it directly affects the patient s ongoing management of health needs. The article

When this client centered approach is used, it promotes patient confidence in medical personnel and
ensures that when the patient leaves the Emergency department (ED) they have a firm
understanding of their follow up care and plan. This makes the patient more likely to be compliant
with follow up care, and self management of their chronic issues. (Cheryle Moss, 2014)
We should all be striving to provide this holistic approach that leaves the patient not only treated
competently and completely, but also leaves them feeling as though they understand what has been
done, and what needs to be done to improve their health and well being. This will not only lead to
better outcomes, but less waste because the patient will be more involved and informed of their
healthcare needs and decisions.
The next category of experience that the article identifies is: consistent duty of care . This level of
care describes a caregiver who is competent and efficient, but does not base the care on a patient
centered model. The article identified a higher percentage of care scenarios that matched this
description at 37%. Many of these patients were acutely ill patients that required immediate
stabilization and efficient treatment. Some of the patients fitting this category may have had an
altered level of consciousness during treatment as well, but they recall the efficacy of their care and
are appreciative. The patients that typically receive this type of care have trust that

Reflective Essay About Reading
I love to read, but it didn t start out that way. When I was in first grade and we are just starting to
learn how to read books, I remember being mad because I wasn t in the advanced reading group.
The advanced reading group got a different book than everyone in the normal reading level and
got to work in a different section of the room. This made me so mad that I decided I didn t want
to try which, when I look back on it now was not the smartest thing I could ve done. I knew how
to read but it never really appealed to me, especially since I wasn t the most proficient reader.
And why would I want to read a book when I could play with a Bratz doll? My feelings on
reading never really changed until I got into the fourth grade. Of course I, a kid who despised
reading, was placed in the one class that had a teacher that expected fifteen minutes of sustained
reading every class. During the time she allotted for reading I would sit stubbornly and refuse.
My teacher contacted my mother to let her know what was going on in class. She also told my
mother that she wouldn t give up on me and that she just had to find something that I was
interested in. When the teacher took my class in the library to get new books, she followed me
around offering suggestions of what to read. It wasn t until I tried a book from the Lily Quench

Comparision of Judaism and Zoroastrianism Essay
Comparision of Judaism and Zoroastrianism
Religion has been a major focal point in any society and in any culture. Starting from the first
civilizations in Sumer and Ur to the vast metropolitans of today like New York and London,
religion has been around and played a key part in lives of people. Possibly two of the oldest
religions in the world, Judaism and Zoroastrinism share distinct qualities that are still alive today.
Both religions are practiced but Zoroastrianism is not as popular as it once was. Meanwhile,
Judaism is one of the world s largest religions. These two religions are similar in the way that they
are designed and practiced throughout history. Judaism originated in the Middle East. Judaism calls

Women were treated unfair and were considered impure because they gave childbirth and went

derived from other religions such as Zoroastrianism. The prophet Zoroaster founded
Zoroastrianism in Persia. The doctrines preached by Zoroaster are preserved in his metrical
Gathas (psalms), which form part of the sacred scripture known as the Avesta. Zoroastrianism is
one of the first monotheistic beliefs in the world. The beliefs are outlined in the Gathas. The
basic tenets of the Gathas consist of a worship of Ahura Mazda and an ethical dualism opposing
Truth and Lie, which permeate the entire universe. Upon death in Zoroastrianism a person s soul
will be judged at the Bridge of Discrimination; the follower of Truth will cross and be led into
paradise, and the adherents of Lie will fall into hell. Zoroastrianists believe that evil will be wiped
off the face of the Earth and will be burnt. The Gathas and the Seven Chapters form part of the
larger work, the Yasna. In the Yasna there are hymns that praise specific Gods, and the code of law
that they are to follow. Both Judaism and Zoroastrinism share many characteristics in common. The
most obvious and probably one of the most important is the fact that both religions are
monotheistic. In ancient times many civilizations were polytheistic. These two religions emerged
as the first two monotheistic belief

Cold Sassy Tree Disability Quotes
In the novel, Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns, the character Campbell WIlliams clearly
suffers from a mental disability. This disability is causes a great struggle for Campbell and leads to
his ultimate demise due to self inflicted harm. This is shown through the character not
understanding death and how serious it is, his inability to do many tasks that are fairly simple, and
his refusal to stand up for himself.
The first evident example of Campbell Williams suffering from a mental disability is due to his
lack of understanding of death and its seriousness. This is shown in Campbell s suicide note where

Emotion Vs Intellect In Lord Of The Flies
It is certain that the essence of good literature lies within the tension between emotion and intellect,
yet the way authors choose to deal with the balance of this tension is what makes great literature.
Throughout completely different genres of literature, Lord of The Flies, Whiplash and Life of Pi

great literature is created by the way the author chooses to intentionally create an imbalance of
tension between emotion and intellect. In Lord of The Flies, we are able to experience the essence

as he wishes to be remembered as one of the greats, knowing that practising is the only way to be
so. However, from the middle of the film onwards, we experience Andrew s decisions become
based entirely upon his emotions. Andrew quickly becomes consumed by them, putting his
success as a musician ahead of his own well being. Even after being seriously injured in a car
crash, he runs to Lincoln Centre to play a concert saying, Look, sorry I m late, but uh... I m here,
I m ready to go . This is similar to the character of Pi in Life of Pi. At the beginning of the film, Pi
s decisions are based collectively upon emotion and intellect as he says I will not die. I refuse it. I
will make it through this nightmare and then begin to be entirely fuelled by his emotions as he
talks of Richard Parker, the tiger that tried to kill him many times, saying, I miss him . This

Well maybe there is,in the beginnings of their early lives in childhood and early adulthood
events and happenings that made them grow up to be some of the worst people ever in history.
Growing up you watch what other people do and as you see what people do you inherit those
actions as well,so maybe some of these is the reason they were who they were, taking on some
traits that were not that good at all. Perhaps maybe not,or is it that life was not going good so they
took cruel actions out on people that were not guilty. We will now find out who is the most
dangerous human in history. Is it Hitler,Mengele,or Benito.

Non Proliferation Treaty And The Universal Declaration Of...
The functioning of an international order refers to the rules of the game that delineate how states
act toward each other. These rules or governing arrangements are intentionally constructed by states
to promote their goals and interests (Bull 1977: 8) These rules may be formal, operating through
mechanisms like international law, international treaties and alliances, and international
organizations, or they may be informal, based on more nebulous concepts like norms, principles,
and values regarding acceptable or legitimate behavior. These rules of the game identify the rights
and obligations of states, and they provide mechanisms for regulating conflict among states. The
post 1945 international order comprises a large number of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Thus, there is no central political authority that can establish rules, force states to obey them, punish
states that break the rules, or otherwise arbitrate among states (Jervis 1985). However, the major
theoretical paradigms draw different implications from anarchy.
Realism is a dominant theory of international relations focuses on state s security and power
primarily. Besides, states are considered the only unitary rational actors where its survival and
interests is the cornerstone of interstates relation highly based on might rather than on right. Hence,
realists believe that people are by nature sinful and instinctively seeking power to dominant others.
Power will be everlasting in the human s nature and the possibility to be eradicated is a utopian
aspiration (Kegley, 1993). On the other hand, Liberalism as a dominant theory of international
relations emphasizes peaceful interstates relations where the preference of states goes beyond
politics to economic and social interaction to achieve a harmonious environment and reducing war
conflicts. Basically, the liberals underline that states are not unitary actors and non states actors are
significant to take a part in the realm since states are not rational and all actors will function better
together. Additionally, power and security dilemma is a secondary objective.
For realists, power and the distribution of power are the only important factors in IR. It is

Bureaucracy Can Be Good For Business
Bureaucracy can be good for business
INTRODUCTION
Bureaucracy is a term that has been coined by a French economist Vincent de tourney in 1745.
In French bureau connotes desk. It is the systematic and organised body which makes it
accountable for proper functioning. Its complexity and elaborate nature makes it reliable and
error free. While the former can be a drawback, taking in to consideration the amount of time it
takes and the large body of people involve, the latter is proving to make up for it. It can also be
defined as a large scale. administrative, systematic and a well coordinated manner of carrying out
organisational tasks and day to day activities. There are three types of power in organisations:

The bureaucratic emphasis is on stability, fairness and predictability (Pfeffer, 198).
According to Weber, bureaucratic organisations operate sine ira ac studio, meaning without a sense
of bias of favour, relying solely on a professional decision maker (Rheinstein, 1954, 190 2). In a
bureaucratic authoritative structure, power is for the most part focused at the top, and data by and
large spills out of the top down. This more often than not energises an organisation society
concentrated on guidelines and models, where operational procedures are inflexibly controlled with
best hones systems and close supervision.Bureaucracy is a type of government that permits critical
choices to be made by state authorities. This implies the general population in control are not chose
agents that are picked by the general population, yet rather extremely qualified and experienced
individuals in whatever field is being managed.

Essay about Preventing and Assessing Intensive Care Unit...
Abstract
Delirium in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has become a genuine phenomenon and can be
problematic for the patient and the staff caring for them. Delirium occurs when a patient is placed
in an unfamiliar environment and has to endure the stress of not just the hospitalization but the
stimuli of the environment, which can cause disturbances in consciousness. Patients can become
confused, anxious, and agitated; making this difficult for the staff to correctly diagnosis and care
for them. Sleep deprivation and environmental factors along with neurotransmitters are strongly
related to the occurrence of ICU delirium. ICU staff needs to become more educated on prevention,
detection, and proper treatment for the patient experiencing this ... Show more content on

This may lead to illusions or hallucinations (Figueroa Ramos, Arroyo Novoa, Lee, Padilla, Puntillo,
2009). Some signs of delirium are restlessness, anxiety, hallucinations, agitation, disorientation, and
any abnormal behavior. Some causes of ICU delirium are due to drugs, stress, environmental
factors, and sleep deprivation. Studies show a strong connection between sleep deprivation and
delirium. Alterations in specific neurotransmitters are the basis of current research (Figueroa
Ramos, Arroyo Novoa, Lee, Padilla, Puntillo, 2009). Enhanced assessment and nursing
implementations to better prevent and detect ICU delirium will bring improved outcomes for this
particular patient population. There are many ways to assess for ICU delirium. Two of the most
reliable and easiest methods are basic observations from the bedside nurse and The Confusion
Assessment Method (CAM). The CAM includes nine different criteria for delirium (1) acute onset
and fluctuation, (2) inattention, (3) disorganized thinking, (4) altered level of consciousness, (5)
disorientation, (6) memory impairment, (7) perceptual disturbances, (8) psychomotor agitation or
retardation, and (9) altered sleep wake cycle. A delirium diagnosis is given when criteria one and
two and either three or four are present. The second assessment tool for delirium detection is made
from nursing observations. The nurse observes the patient throughout their

Out Of Grout Staining
When grout that is unsealed gets dirty, it can be tough to clean the grout due to the porous
nature of grout. The porous nature allows grout to quickly absorb liquids as well as dirt. Here
are a few ways you can try to get a stain out of grout on your unsealed stone floor. Sweep The
Floor The first thing you need to do is make sure that their is not any other dirt on the ground. It
will get in the way of you cleaning and removing the stain. Before you begin addressing the stain,
you should either sweep or vacuum your floor and remove any loose debris that is present. Even
if you think your floor looks clean, it is always a good idea to sweep or vacuum it because their
could be dirt that you don t spot present. Address The Stain The next thing you need to do is
address the stain. First, you should take baking soda and sprinkle it all over the area where the
stain is. It should be applied thickly, so that in the end all you see is a nice layer of baking soda
instead of the stain. Once you have applied the baking soda, take some vinegar and pour it on top
of the baking soda. It may be easier to use a spray bottle to apply the vinegar; that way you can
evenly distribute the vinegar on top of the baking soda.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Introduction: Paradoxical swim with programs, modeled as an ecotourism method, are of great
interest to conservation biologists. Crystal River, Florida, which includes Kings Bay, is the only
place in the United States where swimming with manatees is permitted. This globally advertised
tourism attraction draws in well over 100,000 tourists a year.1 These tourists have close interaction
with over 500 manatees that winter in Kings Bay (2 km2).2 This number has increased from the
114 manatees using these warm water springs in 1981 1982, demonstrating the growing importance
of Kings Bay as a warm water site.3 West coast manatees migrate to the Kings Bay area to escape

documentation of age classes of manatees at Kings Bay will account for manatees adapting to
human interactions at these study sites over time. Thus, age may be positively correlated with
lower welfare biomarker concentrations in samples. Fecal and blood samples will also be collected

Walk Two Moon Research Paper
There were several story lines running through Walk Two Moons. One was the journey Sal took
with Gram and Gramps throughout the United States to get to Lewiston, Idaho in one week.
They traveled to Lexington, Mount Rushmore, and then to Old Faithful. These tourist
attractions are some of the few places Sal, Gram, and Gramps visited on their road trip.
Lexington is located in the state of Kentucky. Kentucky is where Sal lived in the beginning of
the book before she moved to a different state in the United States. Lexington is the second
largest city in Kentucky and has a population of about 318,449 people! It is known as the the
horse capital of the world because it is the home of a few major race courses. In Lexington, they
have a strange law that you can t put an ice cream cone in your back pocket. This law was made

Dynamite was used, the process they used was called honeycombing. 800 million pounds of

Competitive Advantage And Competitive Advantages
With the breakneck advancements in today s market, having sustainable competitive advantage has
become imperative so as to survive. The metamorphosis of technology has made the job further
challenging to have a competitive advantage and sustain it. Competitive advantage is defined as an
idiosyncratic lead a firm has over its fellow challengers and emulators. This lead enables the firm to
vanquish its challenger. In other words it is something that distinguishes an organization from the
competitors. For a competitive advantage to be sustainable, the firm has create value creating
products or services that cannot be mirrored or matched by its fellow competitors and thereby it
will able to outlast for a longer period of time (Bharadwaj, S, Varadarajan, P, Fahy, J 1993)
Sustainable competitive advantage entirely depends on how an organization performs in a
competitive environment. In order to sustain and consolidate the company s position, innovation
becomes crucial. Companies should be in a position to embrace the changes in order to be abreast
of the competition and hold its position (Daniela, P ,2014). Apart from innovation, the internal and
the external forces along with the knowledge managementform the vital factors. For an organization
to gain the competitive advantage and sustain it, it has to innovate and globalize the vital factors
mentioned.
Theories:
Let us discuss these factors with theories

Biological Weapons And Chemical Weapons
Abstract
Biochemical weapons distribute deadly toxins and microorganisms, such as viruses and bacteria,
with the intent too inflict disease among humans, animals, and agriculture. Biochemical attacks
could in fact result in destruction of food plots, temporarily upsetting a small community, and
killing large amounts of people, or more outcomes. The way that a biochemical weapon is
dispersed depends on many factors. Such as: the agent itself; the preparation; its durability; and
route of infection. most agents can be spread as an aerosol, which means the agent can be inhaled
or can infect a susceptible place on the skin, like a cut or wound. Attackers can also ... Show more

agents such as mustard gas. Mustard gas is a substance that, when inhaled causes the victim to
asphyxiate and perish. When the substance makes contact with the eyes it causes a burning
sensation, the deadly gas can even cause blindness if the eyes are exposed to it long enough.
(Wiggins, 2009)
A large amount of countries have started or continued offensive biological weapons research and
development . as well, since the 1980s, terrorist groups have become users of biological agents due
to there high effectiveness and cheap price. Usually, these cases amount only to hoaxes. However,
the following exceptions have been noted: In 1985, Iran began an offensive biochemical weapons
program involving anthrax, Botulinum toxin, and Aflatoxin. (Schnieder, 2015) During Operation
Desert Storm, the combination of allied forces faced the threat of chemical and biological agents.
After the Persian Gulf War, Iran announced that it had bombs, Scud missiles, 122 mm rockets, and
artillery shells equipped with Botulinum toxin, anthrax, and aflatoxin. They also had mist tanks

Jonathan Knowles Rm. 223 4/13/16 Document 1 Excerpt from Piers Plowman Question: What
economic trap did peasants suffer from according to lines 3 4? 3: Changed with their children,
and chief lord s rent 4: What by spinning they save, they spend it in house hire Answer: The
economic trap that is stated in this poem, translated by Terence Tiller, to the peasants is a couple
of things. First, in the 3rd line, it states, Charged with their children, and chief lords rent, which
is implying that they must pay for their children and also pay or rent the land that they live on
which is granted to them by the lords. In line 4 it states, What by spinning they save, they spend it
in house hire. This is stating that the peasants would have to also pay for their houses damages
while being stressed by all the other cluttered things they must pay for. They overall economic trap
for the peasants is them paying others and for themselves to live a somewhat healthy life, such as
lords and vassals and for their children. Document 2 Quotation from Juan Ruiz What does the
writer mean by a man not being able to , call himself his own master? Question: Answer: The writer
means that compared to a man with excessive wealth being honorable and respected, the man that
is penniless cannot call himself his own master. This implies that while the man with wealth is the
ruler, the penniless man is the one being ruled. The man with no money cannot call himself his own

Cooper Union Conflict
When Abraham Lincoln gave his Cooper Union Address it is doubtful that he knew its impact on
the country and ultimately the future of the Union. In his Cooper Union Address, future president
Abraham Lincoln thoroughly rebuked the southern Democrats Stephen A. Douglas statements
about the Republicans slavery stance by using not only the oppositions wording against them, he
supported his arguments with true examples sited from the signatories of the Constitution and their
past voting record, from information gleaned during his career as a lawyer, and from his sense of
honor and ethics. Abraham Lincolnand the Republican Partyhad some very strong constituents,
mainly those with very strong Free Soil tendencies. For this reason along with personal beliefs on
Lincoln s part the Republicans, led by Lincoln in the presidential election, were strongly against the
expansion of slavery into the territories
By using past precedents Lincoln gave some serious weight to his arguments on the nature of the
Republican s stance on slavery and the federal government s rights to limit slavery in the Territories.
Since the opposing party s argument was that the framers knew more about the issue of slavery and
its expansion than they did now. Lincoln turned this argument for the use of the Republicans by
explaining the voting records of the majority of the men who signed the Constitution. When the
question of slavery in the Northwest Territory became an issue Lincoln sites the fact that of

Summary Of The Poem Enter Without So Much As Knocking By...
In 1950 s Australia, post WWII, everyone wanted to be living the American Dream. Everyone
wanted a nice house and a large backyard, cute kids and a stay at home wife, a stable job and a
steady income, and all the material products in the world. In 1950 s Australia, Bruce Dawe wrote
many poems. In three of his poems Enter Without So Much as Knocking; Americanized; and
Breakthrough he used techniques such as language, juxtaposition and metaphors to express his
views about the negative effects of consumerism, American influence and technology.
In the poem Enter Without So Much as Knocking , Bruce Dawe uses the language of television to
display the effect technology and advertisements had on daily Australian life in the 1950 s. In the
first stanza, Dawe wrote ...first thing he heard was Bobby Dazzler on Channel 7: Hello, hello,
hello all you lucky people... The stanza is focused on a ten day old baby who has been taken
home and the first thing he hears is the catch phrase of a TV personality. This tells us that in
Dawe s world, children are exposed to the news and the power of ads as young as possible, to
force them into a life of technology and big companies. In stanza three, the language becomes
more demanding and jarring. Dawe uses capitalization, repetition and short sentences to create a
list of rules society is being forced to follow. He uses road rules such as walk. Don t walk. Turn
left. No parking, and the lack of emotion in the words highlights how he believes this is not the
way to live. The fifth stanza is written as the adult. It s a long sentence filled with the jargon of
advertising and superficial connections to family and friends, and through this language use Dawe
shows us exactly what he s afraid of.
Americanized is, as the title suggests, a poem about American influence. It is an extended
metaphor, where the mother in the poem is America, the child being Australia, and their relationship
which is not built on trust or love but rather need and fear. This basic human relationship has been
twisted by Dawe to show that the consumer lifestyle America brought to Australia is taking away
the Australian identity. The poem starts with She loves him... and although this emotive language
makes the

Ancient Egyptian Greek and Roman Stele Essay
Ancient Egyptian Greek and Roman Stele Just as we use tombstones to mark graves and
commemorate our dead, so too did ancient civilizations. One way to do so in the ancient world
was through the use of steles. A stele is a stone slab, usually decorated in relief and inscribed, that
honored the death of a person. Three of the ancient culturesthat had implemented the use of the
stele were the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. In comparing an example from each civilization, it
is possible to see the evolution of the stele from one period to another and the different influences
each civilization had on a single element.
The Egyptians had many ways to honor their dead, including the stele. Wealthy Egyptians,

The Greek grave markers of the 3rd 1st century BCE are almost wholly restricted to the East Greek
World. The most common type is tall, with architectural elements, and a big figure of the deceased
with small attendants. Another type, a short and broad rectangle, depicts the deceased at a feast the
Death Feast or Totenmahl reliefs. (Rothermel 354)
The Western Asia Minor Funerary Stele is one Greek stele that falls under these distinctions.
(University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology) It is from Asia Minor
(part of the East Greek World) during the 1st century BCE. It shows the deceased, a man, lying
on a dining couch under an arch. He is leaning on his left elbow and holds up a funerary wreath
with the right hand. It is said that the woman on the left is his wife. She appears to be thinking,
probably of her dead husband. There are also two attendants, one on either side of the arch, and a
table in front of the deceased loaded with food. This stele has all the distinct characteristics
(mentioned previously) of the grave markers from the eastern part of the Greek Empire. The
architectural elements (the arch), an image of the deceased (the man on the couch), the broad
rectangular shape of the stele, and the Death Feast are all present within this stele. (Rothermel 354)
Since this stele was created during the Hellenistic period, it has the

  • 2. The Cross Cultural Communication Issues On the whole, this paper will identify four other major possible cross cultural issues as analysed below. First, the cross cultural communication issue may arise and there are mainly 3 factors contributing to the communication barriers in such case. For starters, the factor of culture difference (Moslehpour et al. 2016) present itself. As given in the case study, both of the SSSL executives and Saran are all from India, but the target Qatari market and the people, including both Sheikhs and host country nationals, that they have to deal with, share the Islamic culture or Arab culture, which distinctly differ from India s religious belief Hinduism or Buddhism culture. In the next place, the factor of perception difference and experience difference (Beeber et al. 2014) may occur as a result of culture differences. Since culture can influence the way people perceive things and usually lead to diverse life events among individuals (Nisbett and Miyamoto 2005), people from Qatar and India may have different solutions and reactions to the same problem in the future. At the minimum, conflicts or stereotyping may occur among the host country nationals and expatriates; at the maximum, the major decisions regarding the development and future direction of this partnership business for both sides chief executives may go separate ways. All three major differences outlined above interactively influence the cross cultural communication process by creating noise (Francesco and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Christine De Pizan Thesis Born in Italy in 1364 but relocating to Paris, France a few years after, Christine de Pizan wrote her literary work in the French vernacular. She was on her way to becoming a skillful scholar as a child with a high intellectual interest and as a part of the royal court of Charles V, she had many learning opportunities, Christine was exposed to a wide range of experiences that she apparently used to her full advantage (Birk 17). Her most significant work was her involvement in the querelle des femmes (the women s quarrel), in which she participated in a years long debate known as the Debate on the Romance of the Rose. Christine s argument in the debate was an important benefactor in the advancement of women in the Middle Ages. With her literary contributions, such as the God of Love s Letter, The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A continuation of her defense of women, Christine begins the book by admitting to believing the men who wrote about women because as scholars, they could not possibly write anything but factual things. She is visited by three allegorical ladies who not only help her realize that she is wrong in believing those male scholars, but also in helping Christine built the city that will be inhabited by the ladies. Christine uses this tidbit of believing the men as her driving force to showcase how important it is for people to recognize that the misogynistic writings are an issue that many fall in line with because of the trust in noble scholars. Her intentions in creating this city is to protect those virtuous and favorable women from the negative reputation that has beseeched them. The city is a safe haven for these ladies as they continue to live in a society where the status quo is one that looks down on them for opinions and beliefs that even they have started to believe despite knowing that not all women are as evil as they are portrayed to be ... • 4. Subprime Lending Defining Subprime Lending The problem to be investigated is the effect of subprime mortgage loans on the economy. According to Merriam Webster subprime is defined as having or being an interest rate that is higher than a prime rate and is extended especially to low income borrowers; extending or obtaining a subprime loan(Webster, 2012). Subprime mortgageloans are loans given to people with a low credit score. Subprime borrowers normally don t qualify for prime loans or prime lending. According to Jennings, the subprime mortgage market is defined to include those borrowers with a FICO (Fair Isaac Co.) score below 570 (Jennings, 2012, p. 434). The American Dream Home ownership has always been a big part of the American Dream. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vast majority of subprime loans are now securitized; leading to claims that securitization facilitates predatory lending and should actively police lenders. New standards to protect borrowers against unfair practices were launched 1 July including requirements to ensure they are not lured into credit contracts they cannot afford to repay. The standards include provisions to stop predatory lenders from exploitative practices such as using household items as security for cash loans (Engel, K. amp; McCoy, 2007). Lender and Incentives One has to wonder, why were subprime loans pitched to consumers? They weren t pushed for altruistic purposes; not from the kindness of the heart. The results were inevitable. According to the readings, subprime loans ended with the same result. They were a risk for the consumer as well as the bank backing the loan. There had to be some incentive for the banks; some benefit that is reaped. In this case, it was a monetary benefit. Yield spread premiums is what lenders call them. Consumer groups call them legal kickbacks. YSPs are the cash that mortgage brokers or lenders get for steering a borrower into a home loan with a higher interest rate (Center for Responsible Lending, Yield Spread Premiums (YSPS). However, the Federal Reserve stepped in and regulated these kickbacks. New rules issued by the Federal Reserve Board mean that YSPs are no longer legal. The Fed rules ban brokers and loan officers from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The works had a very specific style and set of influences that have been compared by art historians throughout time. The image of what a people call the Gandharan Buddha is easily recognizable for its distinct features. However, this image is not always universal between Gandharan art. Different works can share similar features and distinction, but can also have many differences. These physical attributes, along with symbolic garb and poses are fairly universal across the Asian continent and the Buddhist art that was created over time. Gandhara was a region between modern day Pakistan and Afghanistan. Specifically, during the Kushan Period, lasting from the late 1st c. BCE to the 3rd c. CE, many images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were created with similar styles. With its close proximity to the Mediterranean and the carrying of culture along the silk road, artistic influence from Greek and Roman civilization found its way into works made at this time. Great attention was given to the face. A content expression, with rounded eyebrows that connect to a flat nose, hollow eyes without pupils, and plump limps can be found on not only statues of Buddhist figures, but also on statues of the Roman gods and goddesses. A great detail went into the hair and depiction of the human form across these two art styles. Just by looking at a statue of the Buddha from Gandhara and a roman statue of an important figure, it looks like they could be from the same place. However, it was the way the silk road allowed cultures to interact and influence each other that caused this connection. Looking at the Gandharan pieces found at the Sackler Gallery, it is easy to see how the Roman influence carried over to many works of art. Looking specifically at a statue of the head of the Buddha (Figure 1), one can get an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your Arkansas Traveler is told in a first person perspective by a radio hostess named Marcia. While Marcia is witty and somewhat sarcastic, the deuteragonist of the story and foil to Marcia, Lonesome Rhodes is very blunt in his speech and quite unstable throughout the story. Throughout the story, there is quite a lot of evidence to support the idea that Lonesome may suffer from a mental illness such as psychopathy. Psychopaths are often incredibly charming, manipulative individuals who lack empathy. Earlier in the story, Lonesome attempts to convince Marcia to marry him by threating to commit suicide if she declines. This tactic is often used by abusive individuals who are attempting to convince an abused individual to stay in a relationship with them. Furthermore, Lonesome also has an extremely inflated ego, another major indicator of psychopathy. Lonesome s wife states that she wants three thousand dollars a month before she will divorce Lonesome, threatening to make Lonesome and Marcia s lives harder should he decline her offer. Marcia suggests that Lonesome and his wife sort the divorce out between themselves, and Lonesome s wife provides further evidence to support that Lonesome suffers from psychopathy by stating that he begins and ends relationships in quick succession, which is an indicator of psychopathy. Having had enough of Lonesome s wife, Marcia escorts her out of her apartment. Your Arkansas Traveler was adapted into a film titled A Face in the Crowd. • 13. The Search For Happiness Happiness is something that everyone, regardless of their background and experiences, search for in life. This search for happiness is manifested in countless novels, theatrical plays, and films, and involves at least one character who struggles to find purpose and joy in their life. A common theme in these stories is the character s impression that there is something missing or inadequate with aspects of their current identity. Thus, they believe that they must complete the missing piece of themselves to achieve happiness. This is best demonstrated by Amedeo/Ahmed in A Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio and Xavier in L Auberge Espagnole. I believe that one s conceptualization of their identity is actually an obstacle to happiness and that one can only be truly happy once they embrace their true identity, which is often much different from the one they imagine. A Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio by Amara Lakhous focuses extensively on the importance of identity in one s life, mainly in relation to ethnicity and religion. Identity plays such an important role in the characters lives that it dominates the way the perceive each other, leading them to radical and often negative conclusions. Kasulis focuses on two of Nagarjuna s points or rather critiques against the Abhidharma; time and causality. Nagarjuna s critique on time can be seen as a good introduction to his methodology. Nagarjuna argues four points against time. The first critique is that if the existence of the present and future depends upon the past, then present and future should be in the past (Kasulis). An example from my life to help illustrate this point would be driving. The past is when I was 16 years old and I got my driver s license. The present is me currently driving and the future is that I will have a wreck. If the present (driving) and the future (my wreck) depends on the past (my obtaining my drivers license), then my being able to drive (present), and my having a wreck (future) should be in the past. Nagarjuna s second critique against time is that if present and future was not in the past, how could present and future is dependent upon the past? It can be illustrated this way. The use of pronouns gives the first two sections an emotionless feel as we do not learn specific names or information about the victims. Comparing the telegrams fluttering to the ground to leaves falling from a tree in winter reinforces our assumption of the tragic news contained within the telegrams: the wintering tree is clearly a metaphor for death and hence we know that enclosed within the telegrams is notification of the soldiers demise. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out his views on society. Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and usually, these literary tropes included the women of his novel. Two of his books A Gun for Sale and Brighton Rock leave Greene s female counterparts feeling unsatisfied with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they appear to only influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the relationships, while the men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil. Greene utilizes the theme of innocence versus corruption, to develop the characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun for Sale, as well as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism. Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together to showcase the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these words mean? If innocence means those who are free from guilt or sin through being unacquainted with evil, then none of the characters in Greene s novels would ever be considered innocent because they all at one point or throughout the entire story are acquainted with evil. (Cheryle Moss, 2014) We should all be striving to provide this holistic approach that leaves the patient not only treated competently and completely, but also leaves them feeling as though they understand what has been done, and what needs to be done to improve their health and well being. This will not only lead to better outcomes, but less waste because the patient will be more involved and informed of their healthcare needs and decisions. The next category of experience that the article identifies is: consistent duty of care . This level of care describes a caregiver who is competent and efficient, but does not base the care on a patient centered model. The article identified a higher percentage of care scenarios that matched this description at 37%. Many of these patients were acutely ill patients that required immediate stabilization and efficient treatment. The doctrines preached by Zoroaster are preserved in his metrical Gathas (psalms), which form part of the sacred scripture known as the Avesta. Zoroastrianism is one of the first monotheistic beliefs in the world. The beliefs are outlined in the Gathas. The basic tenets of the Gathas consist of a worship of Ahura Mazda and an ethical dualism opposing Truth and Lie, which permeate the entire universe. Upon death in Zoroastrianism a person s soul will be judged at the Bridge of Discrimination; the follower of Truth will cross and be led into paradise, and the adherents of Lie will fall into hell. Zoroastrianists believe that evil will be wiped off the face of the Earth and will be burnt. The Gathas and the Seven Chapters form part of the larger work, the Yasna. In the Yasna there are hymns that praise specific Gods, and the code of law that they are to follow. Both Judaism and Zoroastrinism share many characteristics in common. • 50. Cooper Union Conflict When Abraham Lincoln gave his Cooper Union Address it is doubtful that he knew its impact on the country and ultimately the future of the Union. In his Cooper Union Address, future president Abraham Lincoln thoroughly rebuked the southern Democrats Stephen A. Douglas statements about the Republicans slavery stance by using not only the oppositions wording against them, he supported his arguments with true examples sited from the signatories of the Constitution and their past voting record, from information gleaned during his career as a lawyer, and from his sense of honor and ethics. Abraham Lincolnand the Republican Partyhad some very strong constituents, mainly those with very strong Free Soil tendencies. For this reason along with personal beliefs on Lincoln s part the Republicans, led by Lincoln in the presidential election, were strongly against the expansion of slavery into the territories By using past precedents Lincoln gave some serious weight to his arguments on the nature of the Republican s stance on slavery and the federal government s rights to limit slavery in the Territories. • 51. Summary Of The Poem Enter Without So Much As Knocking By... In 1950 s Australia, post WWII, everyone wanted to be living the American Dream. Everyone wanted a nice house and a large backyard, cute kids and a stay at home wife, a stable job and a steady income, and all the material products in the world. In 1950 s Australia, Bruce Dawe wrote many poems. In three of his poems Enter Without So Much as Knocking; Americanized; and Breakthrough he used techniques such as language, juxtaposition and metaphors to express his views about the negative effects of consumerism, American influence and technology. In the poem Enter Without So Much as Knocking , Bruce Dawe uses the language of television to display the effect technology and advertisements had on daily Australian life in the 1950 s. In the first stanza, Dawe wrote ...first thing he heard was Bobby Dazzler on Channel 7: Hello, hello, hello all you lucky people... The stanza is focused on a ten day old baby who has been taken home and the first thing he hears is the catch phrase of a TV personality. This tells us that in Dawe s world, children are exposed to the news and the power of ads as young as possible, to force them into a life of technology and big companies. In stanza three, the language becomes more demanding and jarring. Dawe uses capitalization, repetition and short sentences to create a list of rules society is being forced to follow. He uses road rules such as walk. Don t walk. Turn left. No parking, and the lack of emotion in the words highlights how he believes this is not the way to live. The fifth stanza is written as the adult. It s a long sentence filled with the jargon of advertising and superficial connections to family and friends, and through this language use Dawe shows us exactly what he s afraid of. Americanized is, as the title suggests, a poem about American influence. It is an extended metaphor, where the mother in the poem is America, the child being Australia, and their relationship which is not built on trust or love but rather need and fear. This basic human relationship has been twisted by Dawe to show that the consumer lifestyle America brought to Australia is taking away the Australian identity. The poem starts with She loves him... and although this emotive language makes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Ancient Egyptian Greek and Roman Stele Essay Ancient Egyptian Greek and Roman Stele Just as we use tombstones to mark graves and commemorate our dead, so too did ancient civilizations. One way to do so in the ancient world was through the use of steles. A stele is a stone slab, usually decorated in relief and inscribed, that honored the death of a person. Three of the ancient culturesthat had implemented the use of the stele were the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. In comparing an example from each civilization, it is possible to see the evolution of the stele from one period to another and the different influences each civilization had on a single element. The Egyptians had many ways to honor their dead, including the stele. Wealthy Egyptians, especially officials and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Greek grave markers of the 3rd 1st century BCE are almost wholly restricted to the East Greek World. The most common type is tall, with architectural elements, and a big figure of the deceased with small attendants. Another type, a short and broad rectangle, depicts the deceased at a feast the Death Feast or Totenmahl reliefs. (Rothermel 354) The Western Asia Minor Funerary Stele is one Greek stele that falls under these distinctions. (University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology) It is from Asia Minor (part of the East Greek World) during the 1st century BCE. It shows the deceased, a man, lying on a dining couch under an arch. He is leaning on his left elbow and holds up a funerary wreath with the right hand. It is said that the woman on the left is his wife. She appears to be thinking, probably of her dead husband. There are also two attendants, one on either side of the arch, and a table in front of the deceased loaded with food. This stele has all the distinct characteristics (mentioned previously) of the grave markers from the eastern part of the Greek Empire. The architectural elements (the arch), an image of the deceased (the man on the couch), the broad rectangular shape of the stele, and the Death Feast are all present within this stele. (Rothermel 354) Since this stele was created during the Hellenistic period, it has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
