Acehnese Genocide Research Paper
The Acehnese people experienced a history of attempted colonization and occupation, first from the
Dutch, then the Japanese, it was not until the Indonesian people united was the idea of independence
recognized. However, for the Acehnese people unification was only the means to achieve impendence
and they intended to be an autonomous region separate from that of Indonesia. That dream was
unfortunately not realized as the Indonesian government of Jakarta had other ideas, and wished to
pursue centralization towards a unified state. In order to appease the Acehnese people the region was
granted somewhat of a special region status until the 1950s when it was officially incorporated into
the North Sumatra province. Much of the Aceh history is filled with violence and tension and despite
some governmental change the region still experiences a greater amount of tension and conflict than
other areas within Indonesia. When the subject of the matter is internal conflicts, identifying key
causes of the conflict is difficult when not knowing all the facts. For many other observers, including
those from the Government of Indonesia (GOI), the conflict arises due to particular grievances in
Acehnese society about economic, human rights, religious and other issues. Acehnese nationalists are
apt to downplay grievances and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The move towards independence had several underlying causes those being: Islam, natural resources,
poor governance that led to region wide human rights issues. The Aceh are composed of mostly
Muslims who have a desire to implement shariah law throughout Aceh this Muslim identity was of
great importance for the GAM to establish a separate identity and support throughout the community.
Early in the GAM revolt the importance of shariah law and the idea of a separate Aceh identity tied to
Islamic demands was strong but as of late plays more of a secondary

Jerome Lawrence Inherit The Wind
Jerome Lawrence who was born in 1915 and passed away in 2004, was a playwright with his partner
Robert E. Lee. Jerome Lawrence s childhood and life experiences have shaped his works. One of his
plays with Robert E. Lee was based on the famous Scopes Trial, which was the prosecution of a
teacher for teaching his class the theory of evolution. The recurring theme throughout the play Inherit
The Wind is the right to freedom of thought.
2. Historical Context
This play was created directly after the Mccarthyism era where many people were accused of being
communist in America. They viewed the McCarthy investigations as a shackling of freedom of
thought through coercion, public pressure and fear of punishment (Miller 3). The Mccarthyism era

(Lawrence 62). This is somewhat Drummonds opinion and his argument that people don t know what
to do in life and don t know what to believe, but it is up to that person to have the freedom to decide
for themselves. As the theme developed through the story Drummond would contradict the bible.
While giving another opinion regarding the bible, Drummond does not do this to discredit it or say it s
incorrect but to say there are other things that could be true such as evolution. Then why did God
plague us with the power to think?...Or does a sponge think? (Lawrence 94). The right to freedom of

Data And Analyse Facility Utilisation And Unused Capacity
Task 2: Utilisation information evidence/facts, data and analyse facility utilisation and unused capacity
Occupancy rate: hotel Sofitel is an international brand so the popularity of the hotel is increasing day
by day. As Sofitel hotel is licensed with planet 21 gold certificate. It uses eco friendly products and
balanced dishes. So now the occupancy rate of the hotel is increasing. It has increased to 86% from
83% in last one year.
Average room rate: Room rate of Sofitel hotel depends upon the type of the rooms. But average room
rate starts from $285 NZD. But the prestige and junior suites will have higher rate than that. It differs
because different rooms provide different facilities.
Yield percentage: Yield percentage information cannot be gained by the hotel as it is an internal
information. But as I researched about the yield percentage of hotel Sofitel they mentioned that
normally it is depending on the seasons and how many customers are visiting to their hotel in certain
time period.
Seasonality: seasonality matters a lot in the hotel industry as the occupancy is influenced by the
different seasons. New Zealand has four seasons. Those are called summer, autumn, winter and Spring
which are totally different from each other.
Summer season (December February) This is the busiest season as there are many tourists who want
to enjoy their summer in New Zealand. There are some special offers in Sofitel hotel as there are some
main festivals such as Christmas day, Boxing

Cocaine Abuse According to a national survey performed in 2011 by the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services, approximately 35.9 million Americans aged 12 and older have tried cocaine at
least once in their lifetime and approximately 2.1 million Americans are regular users (Substance
Abuse Mental Health, 2012). Cocaine is a highly addictive stimulant drug that has gratifying yet
dangerous short term physical effects, devastating long term physical effects, and intense

Some cocaine users will stay up for days, even weeks, and will not eat, which results in their bodies
becoming malnourished. Continued cocaine use can cause sleep deprivation, which can then lead to
aggressive and paranoid behavior. Cocaine is such a powerful stimulant and it can keep a user awake
for days, sometimes longer, which then results in the user hallucinating from lack of sleep.
Hallucinating can then cause the user to become aggressive and paranoid because they are hearing and
seeing things that are not really there. Continued cocaine use can also cause severe tooth decay and
reproductive damage in both men and women. Cocaine causes severe dry mouth, which further
increases the risk of tooth decay, and cocaine can also cause tooth decay because the user will grind
their teeth while using the drug. Continued cocaine use can cause heart attack, stroke, respiratory
failure, and convulsions. Cocaine use has been linked to many types of heart disease. Cocaine has
been found to trigger chaotic heart rhythms, called ventricular fibrillation; accelerate heartbeat and
breathing, and increase blood pressure and body temperature. Physical symptoms may include chest
pain, nausea, blurred vision, fever, muscle spasms, convulsions, coma, and death. Different routes of
cocaine administration can produce different adverse effects. Users who snort cocaine can experience

A Brand New Therapy
Cellatroniks is a brand new therapy in the United Kingdom, although it has been practiced in the
United States for 25 years by its founder Teddy Gagnan. Also called dynamic energy therapy, it boosts
energy fields in the body, which in turn strengthens the immune system and enhances the body s
healing capacity. According to Trick Or Treatment: The Undeniable Facts about Alternative Medicine
by Simon Singh, Edzard Ernst, The therapy works by sending invisible and soundless energy waves
into the body via key points the hands, feet, back of the neck, chest, shoulder and abdomen. A central
machine stores different programmes for enhancing different parts of the body or body systems for
example, there are programmes for the kidneys, the endocrine system, the digestion, the eyes, the legs
and the circulation. Patients sit in a comfortable chair and the energy is fed into the body via a flat
metal plate known as an enhancer. Some patients feel a warmth spreading from the plate, others say
they feel no sensation. Laboratory tests have shown that once the energy is passed into the body
differences can be found in the brain waves; patients report feeling relaxed and later energized. Teddy
Gagnan describes the treatment as a food for the body , supplying energy where it is deficient. This in
turns helps to achieve balance in the body, enabling it to combat disease and disorder. Cellatroniks
technology is currently being used to treat cancer, MS and diabetes in the United

Monasticism And Intellectual L Essay example
Religious and intellectual institutions underwent significant changes throughout the middle ages. In
some cases, advances were made, and in others, there was a major decline. Through all of these times,
the people of the middle ages learned what didn t work, what did, and how to progress once they
found what did work.
The true form of monasticism in the western Christian church was founded by Saint Benedict of
Nursia. He wrote the famous quot;Benedict s Rule quot; between 520 530. The fundamentals of the
rule was that each day was divided into a series of activities with an emphasis on prayer and manual
labor. The monks would all gather together seven times each day for prayer. These were all male ...

These were schools attached to cathedrals where religious and secular men could be trained. By the
thirteenth century, there were different religious orders among the monasteries. Two main orders were
the Franciscans and the Dominicans. The Franciscan order was founded by Saint Francis. They took
vows of poverty and lived among the poor. They preached repentance and aided the poor. This order
was attractive to many people who were disgusted with the opulent lifestyles many other religious
societies lived. The Dominicans were founded by Saint Dominic. This order was made up of
mendicant, or begging friars. These were learned men who wanted to protect the teachings of the
church from heresy. The Dominicans established schools and also had a representative government for
themselves. These were both all male orders, but new establishments for women, called Beguines,
were also developed in the thirteenth century. These were poor women who were devout Christians
and dedicated to prayer. They lived together and supported themselves by begging and working
menial jobs. They took no religious vows, however, and were free to leave as they pleased. They were
accepted by the church until the fourteenth century. A religious order that was not accepted by the
church were the Waldensians. This order was founded by Peter Waldo in southern France. Waldo was
very similar to Saint Francis in his beliefs. He preached the

Spring 2015 12 Angry Men Term Paper
Question Set One: Groups
Thinking Styles. There are a few different styles of thinking. In the movie, 12 Angry Men, the
thinking style most used by the jurors at the start of their deliberations was that of the realist. To the
realist, if they can see it, touch it, smell it or hear it, it is real. In the movie there was an allegation that
a young boy had killed his father. The neighbor claimed to have woken up in the middle of the night,
looked through the windows of a passing el train just in time to see the boy stabbing his father.
Another neighbor stated that he heard the son scream I ll kill you , heard the father s body hit the floor,
and made it to his front door just in time to see the boy running away from the scene. The neighbors
saw and heard the incident, so to most of the jurors, being the realist that they are, they had no choice
to believe the murder to be true.
Davis, Juror eight, had an entirely different way of thinking. He was an analyst thinker. Analysts think
logically while placing many pieces of the puzzle together. They gather data and analyze it with
accuracy, thoroughness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My preferred leadership style is the democratic style. I like to see things done the right way no matter
how long it takes. To achieve this style I plan to practice my critical thinking skills so that one day I
will be able to make a decision in the spur of the moment. But at the end of the day no matter how
long you had to brainstorm to come to the conclusion, as the correct decision is made I am happy.
Seeing Davis act as a leader taught me to not only speak but to listen. Leaders often want to take
charge because that is what they are designed to do but we have to remember to listen to the group and
bounce ideas off of each

old salesman that undergoes through lack of success in his life and sees the same thing happening ,to
his two grown sons now in their mid thirties, as the American dream faded away being replaced by
capitalism in the late 1940s. The play starts of by introducing Willy Loman, the protagonist, and tells

his desire of being higher in society than anyone else.Willy cannot let go of the past and continuously
refers to 1928, when his career was at its peak. His withdrawal into the past is a defense mechanism as
he refuses to come to terms with his failure as a salesman. His illusions of grandeur lead to fierce
exaggerations of himself. He tells Biff to Go to Filene s go to the Hub, go to Slattery s, Boston. Call
out the name Willy Loman and see what happens! Big shot! (Miller, 62). He refuses to realize his
personal failures and falsely believes that he is successful. Memories of a happier past Willy losing a
grip on reality and on time escapes into the past. Despite his desperate searching through his past, The
deep probing of dreams and memories in Death of A Salesman where quite important in illustrating
Miller s point. Willy is a man stuck in the past reminiscing about times when things where good
fabrication of those times really were as good as he imagines them to be? Like his inflated dreams of
the future, the past may well be embellished by Willy s wild imagination. It seems

The Culture And Customs Of Ghana
Textile industry for centuries has played an important role in most West African societies. It has been
also a form of art that can give us information about the history of African s countries. The materials
used, the patterns, and the colors of the clothes can be associated with specific communities. For
example, Kente clothes are made from cotton, silk, and raffia. Salm and Falola claim that, The
cultures and customs of Ghana today are a product of diversity in indigenous form, influenced by a
long history of Islamic and European contacts. They represent a dynamic process of adoption and
adaptation, incorporating elements of outside cultures.
The Ghana Boy tunics are a good example of how African artists combined elements of traditional
African work with European elements. They are made in bright colors, and incorporate abstract
symbols of Western commodities and styles. This type of cloth clearly announces that people had been
abroad and know other cultures and languages.
This paper intends to show a comparison between two important symbols of the Ghanaian people s
history, the smocks and the Kente clothes, and it will be focused on the textile industry and their
makers.
The research questions developed for this study are:
In which part of Ghana are these two Ghanaian textiles usually worn?
Do these two different Ghanaian textile styles serve the same function?
What are the Challenges Ghana s textile industry has been facing during the last years?

Alzbeta Letters Home
September 13th, 1939, was a very special day for me and my wife Alzbeta. It is the day of Rosh
Hashanah, the first day of the jewish calendar. The only problem was, we couldn t celebrate with our
family and our friends from Nozyk Synagogue, due to us being fearful of the Germans invading
Poland. It was more of a day of sadness; I was going to have to enlist in the polish army soon to fight
the germans on the front lines. My grandfather had died in the great war during the battle of the
somme, and my parents didn t want me to suffer a similar fate. Unfortunately for them, my country
needed me, and I would have to go whether I wanted to or not. Today was my wife and I s 3rd
anniversary, and we planned to go on a trip to Czechoslovakia. We also went there on our honeymoon,
and decided to go there every other year afterwards. I still remember our wedding day, my father was
crying tears of joy, proud of how much his son had grown up. The test to get into the army was
nothing special; just a physical and a few questions, and some training for a few days. I still remember

looking empty and lifeless, while we could clearly see our other comrades inside warm cabins. We

Was Leni Riefenstahl A Nazi Sympathizer
A Nazi sympathiser is referred to be someone who is a member of the National Socialist German
Workers Party and agrees with opinion, and ideology. Since the end of World War II many have
debated whether Leni Riefenstahl was truly a Nazi sympathiser, a propagandist, or purely an artist.
Through the analyses of the evidence gathered in this case it is clear that Riefenstahl was not a Nazi
sympathizer; she purely did what she had to do to survive, just as every other citizen whom lived
through Nazi regime period did. Paragraph 1 Leni Riefenstahl was very passionate about all hobbies
and career paths she under took. As a film director Riefenstahl claimed to have opposed Hitler s initial
demands to direct Victory of Faith and Triumph of the Will . Though this places question on why she
hesitated to undertake this task at first. Due to her persistence for what she loved to do which is clearly
exemplified in her earlier childhood, this supports the idea that she had a reason to decline. In Source

An Example Of A Private Sector Business
Business Organisations Task 1
A private sector business is a business that is part of the economy that is not state controlled. It is run
by individuals and companies who are mainly for profit. These businesses are not owned or operated
by government. An example of a private sector business would be ASDA. Asda Stores limited is an
American owned, British founded supermarket retailer. The company has been a subsidiary of the
American retail company Wal Mart since July 1999, and is now the second largest supermarket chain
by market share (Corporate Watch 1996 2014). The company provides normal goods for the public.
They offer service to the public and strive for excellence business. I chose this example because
ASDA is a large company that is aiming for profit and it is a private sector business.
A public sector business is a business that usually composed of organisations that are owned and
operated by the government (PrivacySense2015).
The primary difference between public and private sector businesses is who they for. Public sector
employees are who those work for government. An example of public sector would be public schools.
The purpose of schools is that they provide education for the young people and public schools are
funded by government to offer education to students. I chose public schools business they are from
public sector and because they use government funding to offer education to the children. Public
schools offer free education and they are

The Principles Of Systems Analysis
Unit 11 Systems analysis Design 29/09/2014 The principles of systems analysis Iain s Co Iain s Co.
are a large building company that currently employ a team of IT technicians to help them manage their
IT infrastructure and their IT users. They recently have taken over a similar small company that
employs technical staff in the same way. Iain s Co. feel that they need a centralised IT support system
that will monitor, track and report problems that have been identified by their IT users across both
sites. Iain s Co. have hired me as their Systems Analyst to provide them better solutions to manage
their IT Supports system. What is systems analysis and how are systems analysed? Systems analysis is
when business hire individuals to analyse their systems to determine what issues are present with their
current systems and provide a solution that will fix the issues. In order to discover the issues with the
system, the analyst must be able to interact with the business to identify how their current systems
work. This means that a systems analyst must have complete access to their databases as well as being
allowed to interact with employees. The main reason why the systems analyst would need to interact
with the employees is so they are able to find the strengths and weaknesses of the system. This is
useful to them as they will be able to identify what areas of the system need to be changed and what
areas should be kept the same. My Recommendations for Iain s Co In

Personal Narrative-Comanche Company
It seems to me, that a lot of people when thinking of Sustainment in the way that ADRP 4.0 lays it out
see the really big picture of it all. So I ll go back a couple years back in 2009 for a prime example of a

benefitting from the support and services of Army Aviation to continue our warfighting function. My
company was Delaware Company of the 1 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment 4 Brigade 25TH

Analysis Of The Book The Magical Realism
1. The novel fits the description of magical realism because a lot of the concept in Bless Me, Ultima
seems realistic but at the same time some of the other concepts seem much exaggerated, they are like
images that can be imagined in our head, but in the book these things actually happen in life. Oh, our
sweet baby, we are coming home to you Aghhhhhhh! My brothers! I screamed. I bolted up and found
myself in bed. My body was wet with sweat, and my lips were trembling. I felt a heavy sorrow
gagging my heart, and it was hard to breath. Outside I heard the owl cry in alarm. Someone was
coming up the goat path. I jumped into my pants and raced out into the cold night. There just coming
over the slope of the hill were three dark figures (page 61 and 62). This excerpt from the book shows
how Antonio was having a dream of his brothers and that they were coming home but, when Antonio
woke up, he realized that his brothers were really home. In a way his dream was a way of foreshadow.
2. 3. In Bless Me, Ultima the owls are symbolic because the owl symbolizes Ultima s spirit. It was
true that the owl was Ultima s spirit. It had come with Ultima, and as men brought evil to our hills the
owl had hovered over us, protecting us (page 256). This extract from the book shows how the owl
connected with Ultima because the owl was an emblem of Ultima. In the book Ultima s owl plays the
role of her spirit, It was true that the owl was Ultima s spirit. It had come with

Whole Foods Markets has been recognized as a leader in creating the modern market for organic foods
and encouraging suppliers to meet standards for humane treatment of farm animals. They have also
been in the news for violating Labor Laws in 2006. The company altered its sick leave policy, froze
wage increases, refused to provide information to the union that was necessary to negotiate a contract,
and harassed and disciplined employees. Furthermore, they fired two truck drivers because they voted
to unionize with the Teamsters. Investigators of National Labor Relations Act (NLRB) had found that
the company engaged in a variety of [illegal] retaliatory measures to discourage union activity. An out

they contain genetically modified organisms (GMO). This would be done through out all stores by
2018. Currently, the company offers over 25,000 certified organic items and about 8,500 non GMO

Persuasive Speech On Unforgiveness
The Light weight Giant The Goal of a speech is geared towards persuading listeners to learn how to let
go off past hurt, to appreciate the art of forgiveness and to restore reconnection with self after they
have finally let go. Have you ever been so angry at someone that it makes you want to scream? You
carried it with you for a longtime and you manage to hold a grudge.
And have you ever done something to someone and you know that it has hurt the person and you feel
so terrible but you find it hard to approach the person, so you just avoid them? For the next couple of
minutes I am going to discuss with you a concept that you may or may not know has a lasting impact
on your life. This is the concept of forgiveness; forgiveness can affect the success of a relationship and
our physical and mental health. As a psychology major one thing that has intrigue me is the concept of
forgiveness and unforgiveness. It is something so simple yet it can have such a massive impact on us.

The Social Impact Of A Protest At Kent State Shootings
Another event that eroded support in the war and US Government occured during a protest at Kent
State University. During a protest on May 4, 1970, twenty nine National Guardsmen gathered at the
university to oversee a Vietnam War protest. In the midst of the protest, the National Guardsmen fired
into the crowd of protesters killing four people in the process (Gordon Page 35). This event sparked an
enormous uprising from the public and the event triggered a nationwide student strike that forced
hundreds of colleges and universities to close (Lewis). This strike had a huge social impact and
through the constant strikes and protests that followed the shootings caused the US Government to
lose the trust, respect, and support of many American citizens (Gordon Page 35). The Kent State
shootings were also able to reach the international stage through the abundance of news broadcasts
and songs following the shooting. Ohio, a famous song by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, focuses
heavily on the Vietnam War and the Kent State shootings with lyrics stating, Tin soldiers and Nixon
coming. We re finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming. Four dead in Ohio (Crosby,
Stills, Nash, and Young) as a direct reference to the Kent State tragedy. A tin soldier is a toy soldier,
mindlessly controlled by its owner (Songfacts Staff). Neil Young was implying with these lyrics that
the National Guard was mindlessly following orders from Nixon. This song became wildly popular

Literary Analysis Of White Fang By Jack London
White Fang by Jack London is a breathtaking example of classical composition. This piece of
fictionalized American literature has shown, in the simplest way possible, the struggles of a wild made
tame wolf as he is thrown in and out of captivity. Mr. London s novel has shown, in vivid detail, how a
good natured cub like White Fang turned into a raging beast. He hated his own species and humans
because of the cruel treatment he had received, but by the end White Fang was able to learn what trust
and loyalty truly meant. This tale has become an important part of literary history because of it s
tantalizing plot that keeps you riveted. You ll be rooting for White Fang from the very beginning of
the book.
In White Fang, Jack London uses several different settings throughout the story. A dark, snowy, spruce
forest starts out the novel, while the conclusion leaves you in the warm and welcoming Santa Clara
Valley. As a cub, White Fang encounters the ways of the Wild, then is transitioned to the Mackenzie
Indian settlement where he first meets man. He stays with them for a quarter of his life, all the while
going through the hardships of being a lone wolf amongst the domesticated dogs. Here he learns to be
solitary and how to fend for himself; he doesn t need anyone else to survive in the Wild. After being
with his owner, Gray Beaver, for most of his life, he is sold to Beauty Smith, an abusive owner who
was intent on entering White Fang into the dark world of dog

What s So Funny About America Analysis
Mills, Brett. The Sitcom. Edinburgh: Edinburgh UP, 2009. Print.
Mill s piece provides an indepth look at the Sitcom and it s place in genre and vice versa. The piece
includes a brief history of the sitcom, the ways in which they are distinguished, and the hybridity of
sitcoms as a genre. Mill shows us that because sitcoms have been assumed to be so clearly defined,
little to no research has been done on them, when in fact there is very little agreed upon amongst
researchers, producers, and viewers alike. Mills concludes that what makes a sitcom is that it has
foregrounds of comedic intent. Mills piece is thorough, but the back and forth of using genre and
sitcom to analyze one another creates confusion. At times, it makes the piece seem unorganized and ...

Comic Visions: Television Comedy and American Culture. Boston: Unwin
Hyman, 1989. Print.
This piece analyzes the sitcom in comparison to stand up comedy. In the chapter What s So Funny
About America? sitcoms are broken down into elements that contrast those of stand up. Marc
describes the two forms of comedy as very different. He states that sitcoms depend on familiarity,
identification, and redemption of popular beliefs while stand up normally relies on the shocking
violation of normative taboos.
Instead of defining sitcom as what it is, this piece draws heavily on what it is compared to stand up
comedy. I agree with this piece that the two are very different, therefore I believe the best way to
analyze the two isn t in comparing or contrasting them. This piece relies too much on stand up comedy
and treats sitcom as the inferior of the two.
The piece first notes that comedy forces people to forget that what they are seeing is fake, but in that
exchange experience pure emotion free from guilt. This quote, and the information about sitcoms
reinforcing a status quo help to form a realization of why they work and have continued to be a main
part of television throughout it s

An Analysis Of Mechanical Solidarity
Last month, Harvey Weinstein, an extremely successful Hollywood producer, was accused of sexual
harassment and assault by many women. Following the occurrence, other highly respected men,
particularly those involved in the movie industry, have also been accused of similar offences. There
has been a snowball effect of allegations as more recent incidents have been mentioned that encourage
victims of earlier incidents to come forward. These accusations, previously hidden and ignored, are
being mentioned now because of improved social networks amongst women, stronger solidarity
against the issue of sexual offences, and feminist politics in rape response. To understand social

Blue Zones
Blue Zones is an anthropological concept that describes the characteristic lifestyles and the
environments of the world s longest lived people. They are the places in the world where people live
longer and healthier than anywhere else on earth. The four blue zones he talked about were the Italian
island of sardinia; Okinawa, Japan; Loma Linda, California; and Costa Rica s isolated Nicoya
Peninsula. One of the common factors all these places had were the eating styles. All of them had a
plant based diet. They all also lived in tribes whom were basically considered family just in case
something would have happened to them or their family, these tribe members would be the backup
plan and are the people who take care of them. So there social engagement levels were all high due to
these tribe member always being with them and being with one another. All blue zones had a no
smoking factor, which obviously caused them to live longer. My favorite similarity they all had was
they always did something active. By active i dont mean running a mile or going to gym to ... Show

Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to find out if an adults could pass a middle school science test.
My hypothesis was that the 20 39 year old age group would have the highest average test score. To
determine this I had adults, in the age ranges of 20 39, 40 59, and 60+, take a 12 question middle
school science test. The results proved my hypothesis right because the 20 39 year olds age group had
the highest average test score. The 60+ age group had the second highest average test score and the 40
59 year old age group had the lowest average test score. The independent variables are the ages of the
adults, which are (20 39), (40 59), (60+). The dependent variable is the grade the participant gets on
the test based on the answer sheet for the test. The controlled variable is the 12 question middle school
science test based on middle school curriculum. If I were to do something to make the data more
accurate I would to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Pw Botha
According to Hermann Giliomee, President PW Botha s speech on 15 August 1985 to the National
Party (NP) of Natal was the turning point at which white rule in South Africa failed to turn. Botha was
expected to use the speech, broadcast to a huge international audience, to turn around the South
African crisis that had worsened after the outbreak of uprisings in the townships in September 1984.
Spurning the expectations of bold reforms, Botha projected himself as the uncompromising leader of a
white minority determined to fight to the end for its survival.
The speech triggered a massive outflow of capital and intensified sanctions against South Africa. A
line in Botha s speech, Today we have crossed the Rubicon , promptly became the object of scorn and
ridicule. Today it is still a major question why Botha refused to give a speech that the world would
have considered as a true crossing of the Rubicon (A Journal of Historical and Human Sciences for ...

Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all the
apathy of human beings. Helen Keller s beautifully articulated words reflect the abnormality of apathy
among human beings. Apathy is neither a deadly disease that solely attacks the weak nor a problem
faced by certain groups of people. Apathy affects humanity as a whole, striking human beings
regardless of race, religion, and culture.
Apathy is generally defined as the absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement ( Apathy,

John Darley and Bibb Latane first demonstrated this effect in 1968 following the murder of Kitty
Genovese. Genovese was murdered in 1964 by Winston Moseley who stabbed her to death near her
home in Queens, New York. Darley and Bibb discovered that the probability of assistance is inversely
related to the number of bystanders present. The more bystanders, the less likely a person will offer
help to a victim in need. In one experiment, Latane and Judith Rodin staged a distress situation. 70
percent of people, who were alone, offered help to the woman in distress. However, only 40 percent of
people offered help when there were more people present in a room ( Bystander Effect, n.d.). The case
of Kitty Genovese further supports our society s growing societal apathy. Social apathy goes against
most religions belief in the Golden Rule, which states, Do to others as you would have them do to
you. To be apathetic in society goes against a human being s nature. It is virtually impossible to do
anything without feeling any form of emotion. Social apathy reverses altruism and well placed morals
in our society. If social apathy were to rise in the coming years, our community and society would be

Cell Phone Radiation May Help Alzheimer s Disease Essay
Every 71 seconds in this country, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease and in a startling
new report out today from the Alzheimer s Association, predicts that one out of every eight baby

University of South Florida has led a study along with the Alzheimer s Disease Research Center which
has abandoned the idea that cell phone radiation is detrimental to our health. The experiment studied
the effects of cell phones on Alzheimer s. Professor Arendash, started this study by noticing that the

These mice kept strong memories and performed just as well as normal mice which suggests that the
radiation could have protected their memories. Mice, who were transgenic, began the radiation
treatment at five months old when memories had begun to deteriorate. In such cases, the radiation
seemed to stop further memory loss and in some mice, the radiation may have reversed the memory
loss. According to the health physics society, radiation is an energy that comes from a source and
travels through space which may be able to penetrate various materials. In the past few weeks of our
chemistry class I have learned that atoms whom have an unstable nuclei are radioactive, these atoms
give off excess energy which are radiation rays. Radiation varies from gamma, beta, and alpha rays.
Gamma rays have the shortest wavelengths and highest frequencies. Gamma rays are the most
energetic form of light produced by the hottest regions of the universe and emitted by the nucleus of
radioactive atoms. Because of this, gamma rays are used to penetrate tissue property, such as in the
use of CT scans, and radiation therapy. Alpha particles are also ejected by the nuclei of unstable
atoms; however, they are large and consist of two protons and two neutrons. Although alpha particles
have a high mass, they are the most destructive form of radiation with a low penetrating force; a single
piece of paper can block alpha particles. Beta particles are much

Gomer And Hosea
The book of Hosea has to be one of the oddest books of the entire Bible to some. Who would have
ever thought that God would have asked his obedient and faithful prophet Hosea to go and take a
prostitute to be his wife? There is a common knowledge that God can use anything for His glory.
Therefore, as odd as Hosea and Gomer s story is, it is not exempt from glorifying God. God s love is
unfailing and unconditional for all of humanity and that was proven in and through the love story of
Hosea and Gomer. In this paper, I will cover God s peculiar instructions for Hosea, Hosea and Gomer
s story, Hosea s heartbreak, the state of Israel during this time, and God s unfailing love for Israel.
God s Peculiar Instructions for Hosea In Hosea 1:2, God gives Hosea instructions to go out and marry
an adulterous wife and have children of unfaithfulness. God told Hosea to do this because Israel is
guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. In the next verse, Hosea married Gomer, and
Gomer had three children back to back and God told Hosea to name them names that represented His
broken relationship with Israel (Hosea 1:4 8).

which did not honor God or obey his laws. Hosea mirrors the infallibility of God s love. He says in
Hosea 14:4: I will heal their backsliding. I will love them freely. Gomer did not deserve that kind of
forgiveness. Neither did the Israelites. God s love extends beyond the limits of humanity s sinful
humanity. He longs to bring us into a state of restoration with

Case Study Of Azathiopidia With Lupus
Amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia is a rare complication of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
with occasional reports of successful treatment with Cyclosporine, Rituximab, and Eltrombopag. Both
humoral and T cell mediated mechanisms have been implicated in impaired thrombopoiesis with the
setting of lupus. We report glucocorticoid refractory amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia successfully
treated with Azathioprine (AZA) in a middle aged lady with lupus. To our knowledge, this is the first
reported case of successful use of Azathioprine in SLE related amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia.
Case Report:
A 48 year old lady presented to us with inflammatory polyarthralgia of the small and large joints. She
had a history notable for low grade fever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Bone marrow biopsy revealed reduced megakaryocytes with preserved erythroid and
myeloid precursors, and plasma cell infiltrates in the interstitium. Based on these findings, a diagnosis
of amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia was reached and intravenous methylprednisolone was initiated
to which she had mild and ill sustained response. Intravenous immunoglobulin was administered, with
the successful rise in platelet counts to 80,000/mm3. The choice of another agent for maintenance
immunosuppressive therapy was the prime concern. Literature on amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia
in lupus is limited to few case reports of successful use of Rituximab, cyclosporine and
thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists (Eltrombopag).1 3 The presence of CKD precluded the use of
CSA in our patient. RTX would take longer to act and Eltrombopag could not be given due to financial
constraints. Hence, she was initiated on azathioprine at a dose of 25 mg/day that was gradually
escalated to 2.5 mg/kg body weight (125 mg/day) with weekly monitoring of white cell counts.
Platelet counts exhibited rising trends over the next two weeks and subsequently stabilized in the
normal range after two months of AZA. The patient has been doing well on the drug over the past
three years without flares or new organ involvement. To our knowledge, this is the first report of
successful use

Moving Right Mover
Moving can be a difficult process, not only are you dealing with emotions but you are also dealing
with the timely process of packing up your goods and moving them, across town, across states or
across country.
Hiring a moving company can help lighten your load on moving day. However, it is important to hire
the right moving company. Many moving companies do not have the experience to make sure your
items will arrive safely, so how do you select the right mover in the Tulsa area?
Selecting a Mover in Tulsa
Use these tips below to help you choose a mover that you can have confidence in once moving day
comes around.
Packing If you are looking for a moving company that will pack and unpack for you, you will need to
ask questions. Find out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ask the moving company if they have a check list that they use and ask for a copy yourself. It is
important that everything that goes into the truck is noted on paper and that you get a copy.
Moving What kind of vehicle does the moving company use? You want to know that the truck is large
enough to carry your valuables and that it is clean and safe. You don t want your couch being squashed
into a little truck that is full of dirt and debris.
Ask how long the move will take estimated on the size of your current space and if they charge by the
hour or a flat fee? Charging by the hour can be dangerous especially if the movers decide to take
several breaks during the move.
Cost Cheaper isn t always better. After you have asked questions about how the move will go ahead,
ask for a price quote. You can then compare what each company offers with the services they offer
during the move.
Reviews Before choosing a moving company, ask friends, family and coworkers for any feedback on
local moving companies. You can also go online and search for individual companies, online is a great
place to find ratings and opinions on each mover. If there is no information on a certain company it
may be best to leave that company off your

Study Nicky Cruz s Life Very Interesting And Inspiring
Nicky Cruz Assignment
In this research project I decided to study Nicky Cruz because I find his life very interesting and
inspiring. I chose to find out what his early life was like, how God used him and what I can learn from
him.
What was his early life like?
Nicky Cruz (full name San Nicholas de le Cruz, meaning Saint Nicholas of the holy cross) was born
on the 6th of december, 1938, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the 8th of 18 children. Nicky s
parents both practiced witchcraft, or espiritismo, and had a huge reputation and were greatly
respected. Nicky was the black sheep of the family. He was severely abused physically, mentally and
verbally by his parents, particularly his mother, who often told him she hated him and cursed by
calling him things like the son of satan and that he had the mark of the beast on his heart. Whenever
his mother was angry at his other siblings, he would be the one whipped. As a result of this treatment
he became resentful, angry, sneaky and mean. Nicky was always in serious trouble. He never cried for
the most of his childhood, his heart had hardened to stone. Him and his mother became enemies and
he swore he would one day kill her, though he was desperate for affection. He learnt to be cautious of
her. He grew up a very angry and deeply hurting boy, and would have blamed the way people treated
him on his mother. He would often run away from home, by the age of 9, for weeks at a time. Nicky
used to steal his mothers money, out of

Rights of the Criminally Accused Essay
Everyone in the United States have specific rights when they are criminally accused. I consider trial
by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the
principles of its constitution. This quote was from Thomas Jefferson. Trial by jury goes along with
everyone having rights when they are accused, it is one of the basic things in the bill of rights, that
when you are accused, you have the right to a trial by jury. There are many other rights as well. I had
already known some things about this topic. Other stuff was new knowledge to me. Something that I
already knew was that when you are being arrested, the officer arresting you has to read you your
rights as an American. I also knew that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One specific case would be Gideon Vs. Wainwright in 1962. In this case Clarence Earl Gideon was
convicted and didn t have enough money to obtain a lawyer. He asked for an Attorney, but he didn t
get one because the court denied his request. They considered the question if this violated Gideon s
right, so they unanimously decided that Gideon should be appointed an Attorney, and he was given
one. This case is an example of the Sixth Amendment right of getting an Attorney if you cannot afford
one ( Rights of the Accused , np). The Criminally Accused are given a public trial to discourage the
abuse of prosecutorial power. If you weren t given a public trial you could be put to death, and no one
would even know why. That is also the reason that you have a trial by jury. They determine if you are
guilty or not guilty by the evidence presented at trial. They also have the power to acquit an accused if
it believes that he is accused of violation an unjust law (Hornberger, np). When you are arrested, if
you aren t given you Miranda Rights, then questioning after an arrest, can be inadmissible at trial (
Advisement of Rights , np). That is part of what Due Process is. Due Process is the right that you have
to be given all of your rights and the court has to execute all of your rights before you can be
punished. Another right is no cruel or unusual

High School Pressure
The Pressure of High School High school is basically one big popularity contest, and the students will
do anything it takes to be the winner. Everyone wants the most friends and to be at the best parties, at
any cost. The students are young and experiencing new things, and that makes them very naïve and
impressionable. Peer pressure is a very common aspect that students give in to just to be a cool kid.
Peer pressure can push people into doing things that they wouldn t normally do. I was sixteen years
old going into my sophomore year of high school at a new school. I had no idea what to expect, other
than I knew I needed to make friends quickly to avoid digging myself a social grave. As days past, I
found myself hanging out with two girls, Kayla and Lexi, who were in a couple of my classes. They
showed me the ins and outs and told me all about the current high school drama, so I would feel like I
was in the loop. The three of us grew close within the next few weeks, we would hang out almost
every day and eventually we planned our very first sleepover together at Kayla s house. I was
expecting to do the normal sleepover activities like, making cookies, watching movies, and talking
about all the latest gossip. What I was expecting was not what happened. One Friday night, Kayla,
Lexi, and I, were in the living room when Kayla s mother came to tell us that she was going to sleep.
As soon as she had left, Kayla and Lexi began talking about what they were going to be wearing

Influence Of Popular Music On Consumer Culture
Introduction
As contemporary consumer culture is rapidly becoming a music consuming culture in which popular
music has the power to generate profound impacts on consumer s daily life, the use of popular music
as sound logos in advertisements rose to prominence in recent decades (Scott, 1990). Sound logos are
increasingly gaining in importance as effective brand communication. By understanding the role of
popular music within the context of changing conditions of brand identity and communication,
advertisers attempt to deliver their brand messages by establishing a shared acoustic identity among
mass listeners through commercial manipulations of popular music. Many advertisers even reduce the
acoustic brand elements to simple jingles , with lyrics and melodies that are appealing and impressive,
to subtly shape and influence listeners into desiring what they create for them, and thus successfully
encourage consumers to define themselves through consumption. In this paper, it mainly argues for
the claim that McDonald s advertiser utilizes the popular song I m Lovin it as a commercial tool in
advertisements to create acoustic identity among mass listeners and thus to shape listeners into
desiring what they create for them.

Essay on Women in Egypt
Women in the Hellenistic world
Women in the Hellenistic World Women s lives were improved and expanded in the Hellenistic age
more so than at any other time prior Greek history. Papyri from Egypt and Coele Syria have led to the
discovery of documents on marriage contracts, inscriptions of philanthropy, and the daily lives of the
women in that period. The Hellenistic woman changed in many ways. She became more educated,
more cultured, and she received domestic freedom and her new legal and occupational advancements
and a whole other myriad of news liberations. The ideal of the Classical obedient Greek wife was
turned upside down. She no longer had to be escorted to places outside her home and to issue legal
documents. She also could now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On an epitaph there is inscribed: This dust hides Archedice, daughter of Hippias, the most important
man in Greece in his day. But though her father, husband, brothers, and children were tyrants, her
mind was never carried away into arrogance. (Lefkowitz and Fant, 16) This inscription from the 5th
century BCE shows how some women were remembered for good deeds done and not just their duties
as homemakers. It also recognized the humane side of the Classical Greek woman. Philosophers and
philosophies were developed in the Hellenistic period that allowed women to join schools of thought
that expanded their freedom. Education became available for an array of Greek women in this time. A
little before the Hellenistic age came to be, the ideas of the loosening of social constructs for women
were taking place that led to the foundation of other schools of thought such as that of Epicureanism
and Cynicism. But these ideas came from a couple of the Classical philosophers. One example of this
is a discussion between Plato and Glaucon. The topic of interest to these men was that of the education
of women. The point that was made was that since there are only a couple of distinctions between men
and women, i.e. physical attributes and things like pot making and bread making although really only
social constructs that forced women to be engaged in these services day in and day out that would
have made them better then men at those

Love Medicine By Louise Erdrich Character Analysis
Love Medicine is a wonderfully written novel that has many different points of view. We see in the
beginning the death of June. This novel speaks a lot about death. While it is not just centered on death,
it does have many instances on it and how it affected the people around them. Death the one thing
guaranteed in life. Louise Erdrich used one person s death to start stories on her life. Erdrich tells of
both what someone dying was thinking and what someone watching thought. June Morrissey left her
husband and son. She dies walking home in the cold. The heavy winds continued. Even when her
heart clenched and her skin turned crackling cold it didn t matter, because the pure naked part of her
went on. (7) Erdrich describes death in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
June had not only died, but she had died leaving Gordie. He turns to drinking. This is very common in
society and is relatable. Gordie is not only sad but he blames himself. The guilt is consuming him.
One night he drinks so much he starts to hallucinate. He leaves the house to go for a drive completely
intoxicated. He sees June s ghost on the side of the road and ends up hitting a deer. He goes out to
look at it and decides to put it in his backseat to sell it for more booze. While he is driving away he
believes that he actually killed June and not the deer. When the deer goes to sit up, he hits it several
times between the eyes. Even though Gordie had felt so much guilt and sadness over June s death he
tries to kill this hallucination of her. Gordie drives to a convent to confess to the crime that he believed
he committed. When the nun realizes it s a deer the police are still called and Gordie runs away.
Gordie doesn t seem like a good person. He has a son that is left with him after June dies and he turns
to drinking. He then tries to kill June when he thinks that he accidently ran her over. Death, while it
didn t change Lulu, changes Gordie for the worst. Chapter 13 gives another view on death. In this
chapter we see what has happened to Nector, Marie and Lulu. Nector has started to lose his memory
and is becoming like a child again. Lipsha, who is the son of June and Gerry. He has the gift of
healing. He is

Evolution Vs. Fossil Records
Evolution has been a widely known discussion that many people have had over the past century, the
theory of evolution has been welcomed by many scientists yet by some religious people it has been a
taboo topic. The thought or the motion to entertain that humans evolved from primates is what some
people would shudder and state that it goes against all their religious beliefs. However, scientist have
pushed on the fact that evolution is not just a hypothetical or an outlandish theory but a theory that has
multiple hard evidence to back it and that to ignore is ignorance and just plain stupidity. Four types of
evidence of evolution are fossil records, genetic changes, the geographic distribution of species, and
the similarities in embryos of species. One of the evidences of evolution is fossil records, with fossil
records being the remains of plants and animals that scientist have found in sedimentary rocks. Fossil
records have given us irrefutable evidence of evolution in the past, over a course of a long period of
time, proving there is significant variation amongst living things. Evolution is a continuum; all the
minor changes over a period of time add up to a major change. On the continuum, fossils are the
points that displaying what the organism had become after evolving at that stage in time.
Although fossil records are substantial evidence for evolution there are gaps in the fossil records due
to the fact of incompletion of the collecting data. As evolution is

Inequality In Anthropology
Throughout the history of anthropology and the ethnographic method, topics of ritual, gender and
inequality have been diminutive. Anthropologists have turned their research to primarily minuscule
civilizations, observing participants, surveying and interviewing communities. During this, is it an
absolute necessity to marinate an individual into their preferred society to accumulate a profound
grasp about its people and practical details, which frankly cannot be achieved from literary works. By
doing so the researcher obtains a perceptive education into participants daily essence and formalities.

Tommy and I crossed paths last week, while playing soccer at the recreational center. With the project
lingering in my mind, I decided to approach him and assemble information. With limited material
obtained, he was born in China, and his family moved to the United States when he was ten. In spite
of his origins, what s intriguing is that he has been exposed to both the Western practice and his
native. Making him an untarnished participant, candidly a best of both worlds. Obtaining access to his
home is something that won t be a practical issue. His parents property however could be troublesome.
Briefly speaking with Tommy, they are disciplinary, tentative, genuine Chinese folks. Terminology
used to define them is the exact reason I ve chosen their residence, exposing myself to something out
of the norm and reveal basics of rituals and gender. As researchers you must insert yourself in
outlandish settings. Stated by ethnographic schemes, one must let loose own assumptions about the
party to productivity exercise it. In my case, I can t view Tommy s group the same way as people in
my own.Throughout this process, It is equally vital to rest personal feelings and be less

  • 2. Acehnese Genocide Research Paper The Acehnese people experienced a history of attempted colonization and occupation, first from the Dutch, then the Japanese, it was not until the Indonesian people united was the idea of independence recognized. However, for the Acehnese people unification was only the means to achieve impendence and they intended to be an autonomous region separate from that of Indonesia. That dream was unfortunately not realized as the Indonesian government of Jakarta had other ideas, and wished to pursue centralization towards a unified state. In order to appease the Acehnese people the region was granted somewhat of a special region status until the 1950s when it was officially incorporated into the North Sumatra province. Much of the Aceh history is filled with violence and tension and despite some governmental change the region still experiences a greater amount of tension and conflict than other areas within Indonesia. When the subject of the matter is internal conflicts, identifying key causes of the conflict is difficult when not knowing all the facts. For many other observers, including those from the Government of Indonesia (GOI), the conflict arises due to particular grievances in Acehnese society about economic, human rights, religious and other issues. Acehnese nationalists are apt to downplay grievances and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jerome Lawrence s childhood and life experiences have shaped his works. One of his plays with Robert E. Lee was based on the famous Scopes Trial, which was the prosecution of a teacher for teaching his class the theory of evolution. The recurring theme throughout the play Inherit The Wind is the right to freedom of thought. 2. Historical Context This play was created directly after the Mccarthyism era where many people were accused of being communist in America. They viewed the McCarthy investigations as a shackling of freedom of thought through coercion, public pressure and fear of punishment (Miller 3). The Mccarthyism era started ... Also called dynamic energy therapy, it boosts energy fields in the body, which in turn strengthens the immune system and enhances the body s healing capacity. According to Trick Or Treatment: The Undeniable Facts about Alternative Medicine by Simon Singh, Edzard Ernst, The therapy works by sending invisible and soundless energy waves into the body via key points the hands, feet, back of the neck, chest, shoulder and abdomen. A central machine stores different programmes for enhancing different parts of the body or body systems for example, there are programmes for the kidneys, the endocrine system, the digestion, the eyes, the legs and the circulation. Patients sit in a comfortable chair and the energy is fed into the body via a flat metal plate known as an enhancer. Some patients feel a warmth spreading from the plate, others say they feel no sensation. Laboratory tests have shown that once the energy is passed into the body differences can be found in the brain waves; patients report feeling relaxed and later energized. Teddy Gagnan describes the treatment as a food for the body , supplying energy where it is deficient. This in turns helps to achieve balance in the body, enabling it to combat disease and disorder. The Dominicans were founded by Saint Dominic. This order was made up of mendicant, or begging friars. These were learned men who wanted to protect the teachings of the church from heresy. There are a few different styles of thinking. In the movie, 12 Angry Men, the thinking style most used by the jurors at the start of their deliberations was that of the realist. To the realist, if they can see it, touch it, smell it or hear it, it is real. In the movie there was an allegation that a young boy had killed his father. The neighbor claimed to have woken up in the middle of the night, looked through the windows of a passing el train just in time to see the boy stabbing his father. Another neighbor stated that he heard the son scream I ll kill you , heard the father s body hit the floor, and made it to his front door just in time to see the boy running away from the scene. The neighbors saw and heard the incident, so to most of the jurors, being the realist that they are, they had no choice to believe the murder to be true. Since the end of World War II many have debated whether Leni Riefenstahl was truly a Nazi sympathiser, a propagandist, or purely an artist. Through the analyses of the evidence gathered in this case it is clear that Riefenstahl was not a Nazi sympathizer; she purely did what she had to do to survive, just as every other citizen whom lived through Nazi regime period did. It is run by individuals and companies who are mainly for profit. These businesses are not owned or operated by government. An example of a private sector business would be ASDA. Asda Stores limited is an American owned, British founded supermarket retailer. The company has been a subsidiary of the American retail company Wal Mart since July 1999, and is now the second largest supermarket chain by market share (Corporate Watch 1996 2014). The company provides normal goods for the public. They offer service to the public and strive for excellence business. I chose this example because ASDA is a large company that is aiming for profit and it is a private sector business. A public sector business is a business that usually composed of organisations that are owned and operated by the government (PrivacySense2015). The primary difference between public and private sector businesses is who they for. Public sector employees are who those work for government. An example of public sector would be public schools. The Principles Of Systems Analysis Unit 11 Systems analysis Design 29/09/2014 The principles of systems analysis Iain s Co Iain s Co. are a large building company that currently employ a team of IT technicians to help them manage their IT infrastructure and their IT users. They recently have taken over a similar small company that employs technical staff in the same way. Iain s Co. feel that they need a centralised IT support system that will monitor, track and report problems that have been identified by their IT users across both sites. Iain s Co. have hired me as their Systems Analyst to provide them better solutions to manage their IT Supports system. What is systems analysis and how are systems analysed? Systems analysis is when business hire individuals to analyse their systems to determine what issues are present with their current systems and provide a solution that will fix the issues. In order to discover the issues with the system, the analyst must be able to interact with the business to identify how their current systems work. This means that a systems analyst must have complete access to their databases as well as being allowed to interact with employees. The main reason why the systems analyst would need to interact with the employees is so they are able to find the strengths and weaknesses of the system. This is useful to them as they will be able to identify what areas of the system need to be changed and what areas should be kept the same. My Recommendations for Iain s Co In ... The novel fits the description of magical realism because a lot of the concept in Bless Me, Ultima seems realistic but at the same time some of the other concepts seem much exaggerated, they are like images that can be imagined in our head, but in the book these things actually happen in life. Oh, our sweet baby, we are coming home to you Aghhhhhhh! My brothers! I screamed. I bolted up and found myself in bed. My body was wet with sweat, and my lips were trembling. I felt a heavy sorrow gagging my heart, and it was hard to breath. Outside I heard the owl cry in alarm. Someone was coming up the goat path. I jumped into my pants and raced out into the cold night. There just coming over the slope of the hill were three dark figures (page 61 and 62). This excerpt from the book shows how Antonio was having a dream of his brothers and that they were coming home but, when Antonio woke up, he realized that his brothers were really home. In a way his dream was a way of foreshadow. 2. 3. In Bless Me, Ultima the owls are symbolic because the owl symbolizes Ultima s spirit. It was true that the owl was Ultima s spirit. It had come with Ultima, and as men brought evil to our hills the owl had hovered over us, protecting us (page 256). This extract from the book shows how the owl connected with Ultima because the owl was an emblem of Ultima. During a protest on May 4, 1970, twenty nine National Guardsmen gathered at the university to oversee a Vietnam War protest. In the midst of the protest, the National Guardsmen fired into the crowd of protesters killing four people in the process (Gordon Page 35). This event sparked an enormous uprising from the public and the event triggered a nationwide student strike that forced hundreds of colleges and universities to close (Lewis). This strike had a huge social impact and through the constant strikes and protests that followed the shootings caused the US Government to lose the trust, respect, and support of many American citizens (Gordon Page 35). The Kent State shootings were also able to reach the international stage through the abundance of news broadcasts and songs following the shooting. Ohio, a famous song by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, focuses heavily on the Vietnam War and the Kent State shootings with lyrics stating, Tin soldiers and Nixon coming. We re finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming. Four dead in Ohio (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) as a direct reference to the Kent State tragedy. • 23. Literary Analysis Of White Fang By Jack London White Fang by Jack London is a breathtaking example of classical composition. This piece of fictionalized American literature has shown, in the simplest way possible, the struggles of a wild made tame wolf as he is thrown in and out of captivity. Mr. London s novel has shown, in vivid detail, how a good natured cub like White Fang turned into a raging beast. He hated his own species and humans because of the cruel treatment he had received, but by the end White Fang was able to learn what trust and loyalty truly meant. This tale has become an important part of literary history because of it s tantalizing plot that keeps you riveted. You ll be rooting for White Fang from the very beginning of the book. In White Fang, Jack London uses several different settings throughout the story. A dark, snowy, spruce forest starts out the novel, while the conclusion leaves you in the warm and welcoming Santa Clara Valley. As a cub, White Fang encounters the ways of the Wild, then is transitioned to the Mackenzie Indian settlement where he first meets man. He stays with them for a quarter of his life, all the while going through the hardships of being a lone wolf amongst the domesticated dogs. Here he learns to be solitary and how to fend for himself; he doesn t need anyone else to survive in the Wild. Mill s piece provides an indepth look at the Sitcom and it s place in genre and vice versa. The piece includes a brief history of the sitcom, the ways in which they are distinguished, and the hybridity of sitcoms as a genre. Mill shows us that because sitcoms have been assumed to be so clearly defined, little to no research has been done on them, when in fact there is very little agreed upon amongst researchers, producers, and viewers alike. Mills concludes that what makes a sitcom is that it has foregrounds of comedic intent. Mills piece is thorough, but the back and forth of using genre and sitcom to analyze one another creates confusion. At times, it makes the piece seem unorganized and ... In the chapter What s So Funny About America? sitcoms are broken down into elements that contrast those of stand up. Marc describes the two forms of comedy as very different. He states that sitcoms depend on familiarity, identification, and redemption of popular beliefs while stand up normally relies on the shocking violation of normative taboos. Instead of defining sitcom as what it is, this piece draws heavily on what it is compared to stand up comedy. I agree with this piece that the two are very different, therefore I believe the best way to analyze the two isn t in comparing or contrasting them. This piece relies too much on stand up comedy and treats sitcom as the inferior of the two. The piece first notes that comedy forces people to forget that what they are seeing is fake, but in that exchange experience pure emotion free from guilt. My hypothesis was that the 20 39 year old age group would have the highest average test score. To determine this I had adults, in the age ranges of 20 39, 40 59, and 60+, take a 12 question middle school science test. The results proved my hypothesis right because the 20 39 year olds age group had the highest average test score. The 60+ age group had the second highest average test score and the 40 59 year old age group had the lowest average test score. The independent variables are the ages of the adults, which are (20 39), (40 59), (60+). The dependent variable is the grade the participant gets on the test based on the answer sheet for the test. God told Hosea to do this because Israel is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. In the next verse, Hosea married Gomer, and Gomer had three children back to back and God told Hosea to name them names that represented His broken relationship with Israel (Hosea 1:4 8). Hosea and Gomer s Love Story After having her children, Gomer obviously wasn t satisfied with her life as wife and mother, and she longed for her previous lifestyle before Hosea, as a prostitute ... Both Gomer and the Israelites resumed their old lifestyle which did not honor God or obey his laws. Hosea mirrors the infallibility of God s love. He says in Hosea 14:4: I will heal their backsliding. I will love them freely. Gomer did not deserve that kind of forgiveness. Neither did the Israelites. Case Study Of Azathiopidia With Lupus Amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia is a rare complication of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) with occasional reports of successful treatment with Cyclosporine, Rituximab, and Eltrombopag. Both humoral and T cell mediated mechanisms have been implicated in impaired thrombopoiesis with the setting of lupus. We report glucocorticoid refractory amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia successfully treated with Azathioprine (AZA) in a middle aged lady with lupus. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of successful use of Azathioprine in SLE related amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia. Based on these findings, a diagnosis of amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia was reached and intravenous methylprednisolone was initiated to which she had mild and ill sustained response. Intravenous immunoglobulin was administered, with the successful rise in platelet counts to 80,000/mm3. The choice of another agent for maintenance immunosuppressive therapy was the prime concern. Literature on amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia in lupus is limited to few case reports of successful use of Rituximab, cyclosporine and thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists (Eltrombopag).1 3 The presence of CKD precluded the use of CSA in our patient. RTX would take longer to act and Eltrombopag could not be given due to financial constraints. Hence, she was initiated on azathioprine at a dose of 25 mg/day that was gradually escalated to 2.5 mg/kg body weight (125 mg/day) with weekly monitoring of white cell counts. Platelet counts exhibited rising trends over the next two weeks and subsequently stabilized in the normal range after two months of AZA. I chose to find out what his early life was like, how God used him and what I can learn from him. What was his early life like? Nicky Cruz (full name San Nicholas de le Cruz, meaning Saint Nicholas of the holy cross) was born on the 6th of december, 1938, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the 8th of 18 children. Nicky s parents both practiced witchcraft, or espiritismo, and had a huge reputation and were greatly respected. Nicky was the black sheep of the family. He was severely abused physically, mentally and verbally by his parents, particularly his mother, who often told him she hated him and cursed by calling him things like the son of satan and that he had the mark of the beast on his heart. Whenever his mother was angry at his other siblings, he would be the one whipped. As a result of this treatment he became resentful, angry, sneaky and mean. Nicky was always in serious trouble. He never cried for the most of his childhood, his heart had hardened to stone. Him and his mother became enemies and he swore he would one day kill her, though he was desperate for affection. He learnt to be cautious of her. He grew up a very angry and deeply hurting boy, and would have blamed the way people treated him on his mother. He would often run away from home, by the age of 9, for weeks at a time. Nicky used to steal his mothers money, out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution. This quote was from Thomas Jefferson. Trial by jury goes along with everyone having rights when they are accused, it is one of the basic things in the bill of rights, that when you are accused, you have the right to a trial by jury. There are many other rights as well. I had already known some things about this topic. Other stuff was new knowledge to me. Something that I already knew was that when you are being arrested, the officer arresting you has to read you your rights as an American. I also knew that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One specific case would be Gideon Vs. Wainwright in 1962. In this case Clarence Earl Gideon was convicted and didn t have enough money to obtain a lawyer. He asked for an Attorney, but he didn t get one because the court denied his request. They considered the question if this violated Gideon s right, so they unanimously decided that Gideon should be appointed an Attorney, and he was given one. This case is an example of the Sixth Amendment right of getting an Attorney if you cannot afford one ( Rights of the Accused , np). The Criminally Accused are given a public trial to discourage the abuse of prosecutorial power. If you weren t given a public trial you could be put to death, and no one would even know why. That is also the reason that you have a trial by jury. They determine if you are guilty or not guilty by the evidence presented at trial. They also have the power to acquit an accused if it believes that he is accused of violation an unjust law (Hornberger, np). When you are arrested, if you aren t given you Miranda Rights, then questioning after an arrest, can be inadmissible at trial ( Advisement of Rights , np). That is part of what Due Process is. Everyone wants the most friends and to be at the best parties, at any cost. The students are young and experiencing new things, and that makes them very naïve and impressionable. Peer pressure is a very common aspect that students give in to just to be a cool kid. Peer pressure can push people into doing things that they wouldn t normally do. I was sixteen years old going into my sophomore year of high school at a new school. I had no idea what to expect, other than I knew I needed to make friends quickly to avoid digging myself a social grave. As days past, I found myself hanging out with two girls, Kayla and Lexi, who were in a couple of my classes. They showed me the ins and outs and told me all about the current high school drama, so I would feel like I was in the loop. The three of us grew close within the next few weeks, we would hang out almost every day and eventually we planned our very first sleepover together at Kayla s house. I was expecting to do the normal sleepover activities like, making cookies, watching movies, and talking about all the latest gossip. What I was expecting was not what happened. • 45. Influence Of Popular Music On Consumer Culture Introduction As contemporary consumer culture is rapidly becoming a music consuming culture in which popular music has the power to generate profound impacts on consumer s daily life, the use of popular music as sound logos in advertisements rose to prominence in recent decades (Scott, 1990). Sound logos are increasingly gaining in importance as effective brand communication. By understanding the role of popular music within the context of changing conditions of brand identity and communication, advertisers attempt to deliver their brand messages by establishing a shared acoustic identity among mass listeners through commercial manipulations of popular music. Many advertisers even reduce the acoustic brand elements to simple jingles , with lyrics and melodies that are appealing and impressive, to subtly shape and influence listeners into desiring what they create for them, and thus successfully encourage consumers to define themselves through consumption. But though her father, husband, brothers, and children were tyrants, her mind was never carried away into arrogance. (Lefkowitz and Fant, 16) This inscription from the 5th century BCE shows how some women were remembered for good deeds done and not just their duties as homemakers. It also recognized the humane side of the Classical Greek woman. Philosophers and philosophies were developed in the Hellenistic period that allowed women to join schools of thought that expanded their freedom. Education became available for an array of Greek women in this time. A little before the Hellenistic age came to be, the ideas of the loosening of social constructs for women were taking place that led to the foundation of other schools of thought such as that of Epicureanism and Cynicism. But these ideas came from a couple of the Classical philosophers. One example of this is a discussion between Plato and Glaucon. The topic of interest to these men was that of the education of women. The point that was made was that since there are only a couple of distinctions between men and women, i.e. physical attributes and things like pot making and bread making although really only social constructs that forced women to be engaged in these services day in and day out that would have made them better then men at those ... • 49. Evolution Vs. Fossil Records Evolution has been a widely known discussion that many people have had over the past century, the theory of evolution has been welcomed by many scientists yet by some religious people it has been a taboo topic. The thought or the motion to entertain that humans evolved from primates is what some people would shudder and state that it goes against all their religious beliefs. However, scientist have pushed on the fact that evolution is not just a hypothetical or an outlandish theory but a theory that has multiple hard evidence to back it and that to ignore is ignorance and just plain stupidity. Four types of evidence of evolution are fossil records, genetic changes, the geographic distribution of species, and the similarities in embryos of species. One of the evidences of evolution is fossil records, with fossil records being the remains of plants and animals that scientist have found in sedimentary rocks. Fossil records have given us irrefutable evidence of evolution in the past, over a course of a long period of time, proving there is significant variation amongst living things. Evolution is a continuum; all the minor changes over a period of time add up to a major change. On the continuum, fossils are the points that displaying what the organism had become after evolving at that stage in time.
