The Consequences Of Monetary Policy
Monetary policy has to do with the regulations that a government puts in place to control money in
circulation in the economy. An effective monetary policy will ensure that current and anticipated
events in the economy of a country are taken care of. The Federal Reserve (The Fed) is the central
bank of the United States, and it is responsible for the formulation and execution of these policies.
Banks made available huge amounts of money available in form of loans; banks were responsible
for creating large debts in form of loan interests. People who had borrowed were eventually unable
to pay. The creation of private credit and money led to a financial crisis, threatening to make banks
bankrupt. The same banks now became weary of lending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Lenders felt the burden left by defaulters and their capital reduced.
Subprime borrowers are those borrowers who have low credit ratings and poor creditworthiness.
The subprime mortgage market meltdown began on 9 August 2007 and continued into 2008
(Cecchetti, 2008). It arose when banks created a lot of money in a short time and used the
opportunity to raise house prices and speculations on financial markets. Initial subprime mortgages
were affordable and many borrowers were attracted to them. However, they were adjustable after a
given duration. It is this adjustment that instigated many defaults in payments, mostly beginning in
2007 when higher payments were demanded. By 2009, banks were going bankrupt due to the high
number of defaulted mortgage payments.
Also, lenders came up with creative mortgage packages upon speculations of growing house
prices. With mortgage backed securities (MBS), the process of securitization occurs whereby
home mortgages are grouped into categorized pools by the issuing banks. They are then sold as
a single security where the risks are spread out. These pooled assets backed securities were
attractive to both lender and borrower because lender sold the loan and borrower accessed credit
easily. Such collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) were sold to other market investors to reduce
the risk of default. These investors were attracted by the higher returns, especially due to the lower
interests. During the liquidity period, as

in a spatially variant manner because mapping function processes for each individual pixel. Local
operators characterized that more satisfactorily than global operators in terms of the detail
preservation and compression ratio of the dynamic range. Also, there are two tone mapping model
linear tone mapping model and nonlinear tone mapping model. Linear model does not need
multiscale decomposition or segmentation of the images into binary or fractional maps, where the
problems associated with layer decomposition are not found. Linear model not only interested in
making the output images look natural by enhancing pixel intensity more significantly in
highlights, but also satisfies high radiance similarity with the ground truth HDR images. The
problem appears when using linear model that usually fails when luminance value of a local patch
changes abruptly. Also, the dynamic rangeof the dark region will be compressed at the same rate as
the bright pixels, which causes losing details in this patch. Nonlinear model synchronize with the
nonlinear relationship between the physical magnitudes of effects and the perceived intensity of the
effects. Nonlinear model functiondepends on instead of linearly compressing the contrast of a patch
in an input HDR image, it adopt the local gamma correction strategy which can not only effectively
compress the bright pixels but also enhance the dark ones in one hit even in challenging patches
Compared with the locally linear model, nonlinear

The Importance Of Fragmentation In The Black Community
This Open Letter is written to address several positions that remain a source of fragmentation within
the black community, in spite having many monumental successes in industries, continues to lag
behind in education, economic development and being in a position to strategically expand its
family base from a construct of advancement, in lieu of having to depend upon subsidies or being
completely left out of any progressive developments.
As a black civil rights leader, and minister myself, I have appealed to you and your office,

The dichotomy that exists among blacks in America is a gaping hole too many have left their fate
to politicians and other media personalities to bridge the gap in their personal lives, and have gotten
nothing in return for investing that trust. Which brings me to this point: I don t understand your
position as a Civil Rights Leader if, and when, the most vulnerable in our society cannot get
adequate representation to at least explore what discrepancies exist, and second, to demand a
resolution from those that induced the problem.
You were in Washington, D.C. in late February 2017 during the same time my organization, CAAP

several attempts through our media relations department to speak briefly with you to explore a
roundtable to address the visible fallout among young blacks in America. Without question, I
value and do understand you have a busy schedule like I do. I know you were leading a social
justice MARCH during this time, however, what I find alarming is the lack of response from your
office to reconsider having a meeting in the future. Where we could schedule a time convenient for

Essay United States Border Patrol
Border Patrol The U.S. Border Patrol to me is very important to the United States of America
and to me as well. Without the Border Patrol, America would be a goat standing in the middle of
a wolf cage. The Border Patrol and their agents border the boundaries of America so we can be
safe in our homes. People don t realize how important any kind of law enforcement is, until the
day that they need assistance comes. I don t take our men and women who protect us Americans;
it is something that not everyone can say that they have. I have no one in my family that has
worked with the Border Patrol, and I want to be the first in my family to join the Border Patrol. I

The U.S. Border Patrol started its service for our nation in 1924. Even though some changes
have affected every aspect of the operations from its early days, the values, professionalism,
honor, integrity, and respect helped shape the Border Patrol from the early years and they still
remain the same today. Since the very beginning agents have been patrolling our borders,
Mounted watchmen of the U.S. Immigration Service patrolled the border in an effort to prevent
illegal crossings as early as 1904 (Border Patrol History, web). The agent s efforts were
undertaken only when resources permitted. The inspectors were all out of El Paso, Texas, Though
they never totaled more than seventy five, they patrolled as far west as California trying to restrict
the flow of illegal Chinese immigration (Border Patrol History, web). In 1915, Congress approved
a separate group of Mounted Guards. Most rode on horseback, but a few operated cars and boats.
Although these inspectors had broader arrest authority, they still largely pursued Chinese
immigrants trying to avoid the Chinese exclusion laws. The agents were immigrant inspectors,
assigned to inspection stations, and could not watch the border at all times, Texas Rangers were
also often assigned to patrol duties by the state, and their efforts were noted as singularly effective
(Border Patrol History, web). Customs violations and intercepting communications to the enemy

Microfinance Institutions Sustainability
MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants
Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking.
Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low
income areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major
distinction is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial
institutions (Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and
administrative loses faced by growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by
borrowers represents the struggle of MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve
financial sustainability. The latter however, can be reached by altering the capital structure of
MFI through diversification of source of funding or rejection of capital which can lead to
malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented, institutions can proceed to expansion
reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting sustainability. This essay would
focus on the role on subsidies in performance of MFI. The rationale behind exploring this form of
noncommercial capital is that total amount of subsidized capital in MFI reached almost 16 billion
in 2009 (Bloomberg, 2012) posing a question regarding the alternative and probably more efficient
use of respective funds to support poor. The second reason derives from the number of researches
discussed later,

The Musical Works Of Giacomo Puccini
Turandot displays the musical works of Giacomo Puccini, yet was unfinished at the time of his
death in 1924 (Edmonton Opera, Program Notes, P. 17). At the premiere, in La Scala, Milan on
April 25th, 1926 the work was performed as written by Puccini, however two supplementary scenes
were completed and added by Franco Alfano following the premiere (Edmonton Opera, Program
Notes, p.17). Puccini worked with two librettists while writing Turandot: Giuseppe Adami and
Renato Simoni (Edmonton Opera, Program Notes, p.17). This musical work is a late romantic
opera, with an emphasis on emotions being prevalent throughout the opera (Kerman Tomlinson,
Listen, 8th edition, 2015, p. 274). As the conductor took his place in the pit, the audience began the
performance with a loud applause. When the curtains were drawn back, the audience s attention
was immediately fixed upon the stage. As the characters began to file in, one s eyes were easily
drawn to the characters of wealth and importance as their costumes were more colourful and lavish
then those of the chorus. The musicaccompanying this image drew the audience even further into
the performance as its stylistic features helped to portray a sense of urgency and warning.
Three acts formed the evening s performance.

How The Church Has Been Neglected By The Community Essay
Within the African American community, Christianity has manifest itself to be one of the
cornerstones of the community. Surprisingly enough however, the church was introduced to
African Americans as a means of trying to control the thoughts and actions of the slaves. When
analyzing the church in its modern state, it would be hard to come to this realization. Since its
humble beginnings, many African Americans have come to adopt the Christian faith as their own.
Even as slaves, African Americans began starting their own churches to allow them to worship how
they wanted. Churches such as Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary BaptistChurch (GMPMBC)
(which has been a part of the local community since 1939) are prime examples of how the church
has grown to become an integral part of the African American community. This paper will analyze
the history of GMPMBC and discuss how it is overlooked in mainstream society. From there, it will
transition in to discussing how the church has been neglected by the community it serves.

characteristic in today American religious history. GMPMBC has four view point as referral to

The Nickel Electrode Batteries Are Vulnerable
The nickel electrode batteries are vulnerable to both reversible and irreversible degradation. The
reversible degradation forms can be rectified by fully discharging the cell and then recharging it.
The irreversible forms of degradation vary depending on the types of electrodes and the application
of the battery. However, the irreversible forms of degradation are majorly linked to the number and
depth of the discharge/recharge cycles and the operation temperatures. The primary causes of
irreversible degradation include the decomposition of the organic material into the electrolyte,
corrosion of the nickel electrode, dendrite formation on the surface of the negative electrolyte,
electrode poisoning, and the failure of the gas barrier. Additionally, the nickel electrode batteries are
vulnerable to thermal runaway, which can be described as a vicious cycle caused by heating and
augmented discharge and voltage. The batteries are also susceptible to gassing, which can lead to
the buildup of pressure in the cell that may lead to permanent battery damage. The batteries are also
engrossed by a number of safety and environmental concerns because they are manufactured using
an extremely toxic metal cadmium. However, the concerns have been lessened through regulation,
keen monitoring during manufacturing, and elevated recycling efficiencies. Currently, there are
three major categories of the nickel cadmium and nickel iron batteries; namely, vented sintered

was introduced to the different ways that animals are becoming extinct, deforestation,
overpopulation, economic prosperity, population growth, urban environment, global perspective
and science and ethics. Each of these is affecting different species at different rates, but what was
concluded by comparing numbers is that humans are truly responsible for their actions and the

The Asian Elephant and overpopulation Asian elephant s population once expanded from West Asia
along the Iranian coast into the Indian subcontinent, eastwards into South east Asia including
Sumatra, Java, and Borneo, and into China at least as far as the Yangtze Kiang. Crude estimates
must be made about the remaining population size because it has become hard to count the number
of animals left in the thick vegetation where they have been forced to reside from people invading
their areas. Asian elephants can be found in grassland, tropical evergreen forest, semi evergreen
forest, moist deciduous forest, dry deciduous forested and dry thorn forest, in addition to cultivated
and secondary forests and scrublands. These are areas, especially the forests where the growing
population of Asia and India have now become human homes and territory, forcing the animals to
reside on smaller locations of land with fewer resources for them, and more for humans. (http:/

Freedom of Expression Essay
Freedom of Expression
Freedom of expression, and open access to media, are as fundamental to the survival of Progress
as the sun and rain are to the survival of planet Earth. Yet censorship remains a traditional response
of any group that finds itself offended at another s message or creative indulgence.
The argument that because they serve the public interest, media should willingly accept a moral
arbiter to decide what will and what will not be disseminated is both uninformed and dangerous.
The biggest problem is that nobody will have the opportunity to vote for the people charged with
determining what information is left on the cutting room floor. Worse yet, certain lower life forms

The Media spun the Mars story big time because People were interested in it, the same way we are
always interested in exploration, at pushing boundaries. It s the same reason the book Undaunted
Courage is on the Best Seller list, and why filmmaker Ken Burns (The Civil War, Baseball) is

Raphael Sanzio
RAPHAEL SANZIO
Raphael was one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. Raphael painted and
designed many brilliant pieces of work and the stanzas inside the Vatican. He was a master at such
necessities of modern art such as depth and perspective and the use of light and shadow, and was
the turning point styles of paintings like the use of Madonnas in paintings. Through his short life,
Raphael would make some of the most awe inspiring, beautiful, and influential works of art during
the Italian Renaissance.
Raphael whose full name was Raphael Sanzio, (also known as Raphael Sanzi), was born on April
6th, 1483. He was born in the town of Urbino, Italy, where he would spend his childhood life until
he was 11 years old. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1508, at the age of 24, Raphael was invited to the Vatican by Pope Julius II. Raphael was
summoned to the Vatican to paint things like stanzas, and was probably recommended to the
pope by Domato Bramante, an architect. He was immediately well liked by the pope and
everyone else at the Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive
individual. As Giorgio Vasari once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable
that even animals loved him, not to speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132)
In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away
from the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza
della Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas
and his pupils would paint whatever he sketched. In the Stanza della Segnatura, there was a stanza
for each of the four walls.. Each side represented a topic. The four sides were about theology,
poetry, philosophy, law. Each topic was represented with a painting. Theology was represented by
Disputa, poetry by Parnassus, Jurisprudence represented law, and the extremely famous The School
of Athens represented philosophy. He started working on these stanzas in early 1509 and finished in

Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal
The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also
known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of
Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that
mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so
dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublinwere not able to support their own children. Due to
these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive
way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical
facts. Swift s proposal is a satiremade to jolt the people of Dublin, Irelandinto understanding the
growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for
a long term elucidation is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal
consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the
kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive
children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add
to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest
interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public
good of his country,

Examples Of Superstition In Julius Caesar
Superstition and the Supernatural Superstition and the supernatural have been around since people
first inhabited the earth. However, as society has progressed, these beliefs have been seen as
naГЇve and foolish. Nevertheless, superstition was a major part in Roman life and thus William
Shakespeare uses superstition and the supernatural in his play Julius Caesar. Superstition and the
supernatural held great importance in the time of Caesar and often influenced the decisions people
made. Superstition is defined as a belief or way of behaving that is based on fear of the unknown
and faith in magic or luck. Supernatural is defined as things that cannot be explained according to
natural laws. In Julius Caesar, many superstitious and supernatural... Show more content on

Three examples are Calpurnia s dream, the soothsayer, and Brutus seeing Caesar s ghost.
Calpurnia s dream foreshadows Caesar s death, which in turn furthers the plot. It also shows

soothsayer again foreshadows Caesar s death, which again furthers the plot. The soothsayer also
develops Caesar as arrogant and proud. Caesar choosing between superstitious events also shows
and develops his arrogance. Finally, Brutus seeing Caesar s ghost is again another example of
foreshadowing as the ghost predicts the death of Brutus, which again progresses the plot. The
event also shows that Brutus is second guessing his decision of betraying Caesar. Superstition
and the supernatural made Julius Caesar what it was, a play full of fateful decisions. Although
Caesar was arrogant, that was what him such a great leader. Caesar was not afraid of the
decisions he made and was not afraid of anyone or anything. As Caesar said Cowards die many

Essay about Illegal Aliens Have the Right to Healthcare
Everyday people are sent to the hospital. Not only are they in fear of losing their life but also in
fear of being in debt due to the prices of health care treatment they need. But what if this patient
happens to be an illegal alien? What if the patient has a foreign illness that needs to be cured so it
does not spread? Should healthcare providers continue to provide (s) he with treatment even if they
cannot pay? Or should illegal aliens be treated just like any other patients by having a right to
health care?
Illegal aliens are net consumers of public services and they contribute to economic growth
(Immigrants Economic Contributions, 2009). Since 1990, immigrants have contributed to job
growth in three main ways: They fill an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What the illegal aliens want are jobs that will potentially give them a higher wage in comparison to
the country they came from. To effectively weigh whether providing health care to immigrants
should be considered a right or privilege, one would have to consider how much they contribute to
economic growth. A Pew study from last year showed that undocumented immigrants add 600,000
to 700,000 new consumers to the economy every year. Since consumption makes up 70 percent of
economic activity in the U.S., this is important (and of course, more consumption means more sales
tax revenue). Immigration is also expected to account for one forth of the Census Bureau s
estimated labor force growth through 2012. Some economic estimates gauge that undocumented
immigrants contribute $22 billion, in total, to the economy each year a number that would increase
if they were given the opportunity to become legal (Karvounis, 2007). This evidence suggests that
illegal aliens are actually giving back to the nation by doing all of the dirty, low income jobs and
are only using approximately $11 billion in health care and they are contributing about $22 billion a
year to the economy. Although these illegals only using half of what they give, they contribute
more then what they use.

The Radio During World War I
The radio was never used more or for a much more important reason than during World War I and
World War II. Prior to the first world war war, many ships used the radio for communication. In
the early part of the 20th Century, amplification was one of the top concerns of the development
of the radio. Of course people were able to communicate with others hundreds of miles away, but
the clarity and amplification of the messages weren t necessarily as good as many had expected
and counted on. Often times, other means of communication like the telegraph were better off
being used instead of the radio. Because of that, Lee De Forest invented the Audion vacuum tube in
1906, and followed that up one year later by adding his triode tube. According to

Celtic Cross
A cross having essentially the form of a Latin cross with a ring about the intersection of the
crossbar and upright and shaft (CITE HERE). From the outside looking in, that is what a Celtic
cross would appear to be, but the cross has a deeper meaning than just it s looks. The origin of the
Celtic cross was unknown but the Irish believe it was founded by Saint Patrick because he was
trying to convert the citizens of Ireland to Christianity. There were multiple theories behind the
origin, however, the most recognized theory was that St. Patrick merged the sun cross and a
regular cross to give new supporters a way to keep their old religion and make the transition to
Christianity easier. The importance of the sun cross was that it held life giving properties from the
sun. Before Christianity, the people in Ireland believed in many different gods and St. Patrick
wanted them to worship one God. By combining these two crosses, St. Patrick was able to get the
Pagan people to become followers of Christianity. The Celtic ... Show more content on

The African-American Community
One of the main issues that America has continued to ignore is the problems within the African
American community. Many children within the African American community fail to get the
necessary leadership from their respective parents. That lack of leadership generally occurs from
the absence pf a father figure in the household. Reason may be because of a father being imprisoned
for whatever reason, or the father being killed by law enforcement illegally. Thus, the more
impressionable minds within the community commit illegal activities to get recognition from their
peers. Indeed, these people should be punished for their acts by law enforcement. What the African

6 1 Data Model Assignment: DAT 500 15TW1 The rental car company is laying the foundation
for building a relational database and is already deep within the design phase of the SDLC.
Developing enterprise data models will ensure the business requirements are being met and in the
long run, spell success for the enterprise. The two entity relationship diagrams the rental car
company has established are 1) a Conceptual data model and 2) a Logical data model. Using the
process of building these foundational models, the rental car company can then move on to the
physical model and complete the database. The first data model, the conceptual model, is basically
the skeleton or the foundational framing for how the rental car company can develop the concepts
(also known as entities) that are most important to the organization. Within the conceptual model,
there are a limited number of components. In this current stage of the development there are only
entities and relationships, descriptive characteristics (or attributes) come later. Here the focus is on
entities and the organization can narrow down what takes top priority. Those four concepts
mentioned in the model are at the foundation and a requirement for tracking the profitability and
efficiency of the branch and its employees. Branch, Sales, Vehicle and Employees are prime

Each of these questions gives an opportunity for the employee to feel engaged and see
themselves as a critical part of the overall success of WorldVentures. Once the employees answer
the prompted questions they are asked to grade their performance 1 5, five being the highest. At
this point the PMP is turned into the direct manager, their task is to then fill out the last
comment box with their own observations and set a meeting time for each of their employees.
The meeting is one on one in a fairly comfortable setting. The employee is then given a chance to

the way. At the end of the meeting each person signs the PMP agreeing that they will work
towards the agreed upon goals and understand the grade their manager has given, wither it is the
same or different from the grade they gave themselves. HR is then given the PMPs for everyone s

The Causes And Impacts Of The Cultural Revolution
The Cultural Revolution (1966~1976) was a sociopolitical movement that was both ideological
and radical in nature. It was a rectification movement that sought to remold the values and ideas of
society and to create a new vision for China, by Mao Zedong. Mao: the Chairman of the

practice of careerism. Within his revolution, Mao initiated purges in order to get rid of Chinas old
capitalist tendencies, and to further instill his Chairman of the Communist Party of China after

As a result of the extensive farming and industrial work, steel production dramatically increased
and several structures such as roads and hospitals improved the lives of the Chinese people.
Despite the great effort during this period, the Great Leap Forward had failed as the workers in
the industries were common, ordinary people who had no expertise in machines which led to a lot
of useless iron being made. Furthermore, as many as 30 million people died due to numerous
reasons such as the unpropitious climate conditions, pressure to meet the standards of the
authorities, and mass starvation. The failure of this period led to Mao Zedong being dismissed from
his rank as the State Chairman of RPC, although he still kept his title as the Chairman of the CCP.
In order to combat economic disorder caused by the Great Leap Program, Liu Shaoqi attained his
rank as the new Chairman of RPC while Deng Xiaoping became the CPC General Secretary. In the
face of fiasco after the unsuccessful Great Leap Forward, Mao Zedong pursued a course of
eliminating elements of Chinese culture during the Cultural Revolution to foster a new culture,
which was abortive as it had only distorted China both socially and economically, which was

they could earn them a better rate of return by selling and buying various stocks for a small fee.
The fees of the helpers and taxes from capital gains result in the diminishing of the entire family
s wealth. The parable is trying to get a person to understand that by paying others to make your
investment decisions, they are actually taking away from you. In Buffett s words For investors
as a whole, returns decrease as motion increases (5). This is the general theme of the book; that
as your investment strategy gets more complicated, returns will decrease. Jon Bogle takes this
idea and runs with it in the rest of the book, discussing 3 simple ideas: invest primarily in stocks,
invest for the long term, and invest in index funds. In the book, Bogle compares purchasing
stocks with that of the return on businesses. He sees that the correlation is very similar; by
investing in stocks, you are investing in the business as well. This makes it risky in the short
term, because of unpredictability. Half of stocks a person picks will beat the market, and half

the result is a loser s game. He goes on to discuss how the S P, the largest 500 companies, has

Navalism further changes the perception of how the Pacific was because it encourages the Pacific
to be more militarily fortified because there was imperialism in other countries too like France and
Great Britain. As a result, the Pacific became focused on power acquisition rather than its people.
The Samoans tried to get rid of the imperialistic perspective by protesting that they have no
interracial marriages, unequal pay and benefits for the Samoan police guards, and have decided to
form a copra boycott which shuts down the naval government. Congress reacted to the protest by
making the territory into legal status. Furthermore, after the Samoans realized the consequences of
the Organic Act, they rejected it due to the consequences which it has on communal landholding.
Finally, the Samoans resisted the imperial system by advocating an antimilitarist activist
organization which tells the US military to be held responsible for the sexual assaults and the
violence that the US military caused them to face. Holger concludes by empathizing that analyzing

Stem Cell Research Stem cell research has cultivated a new, miraculous study in the health field.
The study has led to an increase in curing diseases over the past couple of decades. Before stem
cell research, diseases were destroying and devastating lives continuously on end. With the use of
stem cells in modern time, diseases are no longer taking control of lives. The innovation in
biomedical technology, such as stem cell research, has greatly impacted the understanding of how
diseases can be treated, how drugs can be tested, how more careers will be available in the
future, and how newborns can safely provide help. Stem cells are cells that give rise to all other
cells in the body with a specialized function. Blood cells, muscle cells, and the cells of internal
organs all form from stem cells. There are several sources of stem cells found in the body. Two
known sources of stem cells are the embryonic stem cell and the adult stem cell. Embryonic stem
cells are found in embryos three to five days old. This means that they are able to divide into
more stem cells, or become any specialized cell in the body at this early stage. Adult stem cells are
rare, but not uncommon. These adult stem cells are found in low numbers amongst all adult
tissues. However, these cells are most commonly found in bone marrow and fat. Unlike embryonic
stem cells, adult stem cells have limited ability to breeding other cell

Urbanization And Industrialization
It s amazing how many roads have been made, skyscrapers have been thrown up and technology
has been invented in just a hundred years. The transition from agriculture to mass production
know as the industrial revolution has impacted all of our lives from indoor plumbing to
electricity. Industrialization is a process that leads to a significantly increased proportion of a
population engaged in factory work and nonagricultural occupations; it increases the number of
people living near factories and relying on mechanically produced goods and services (Monti et
al. 2015: 191). Industrialization in Western societies brought about about urbanization, the
movement of populations from rural to urban areas; the growth and development and
redevelopment of cities (Monti et al. 2015: 192). The shift to larger effective machines caused
many factories to open up which in turn provided opportunity for people seeking jobs. The jobs
brought in employees and their families, which created a need for more housing. As more and
more people moved near factories, cities became larger and more dense. Many changes occurred as
societies changed from rural and small to large, industrial and urban settings. German sociologist
Ferdinand Tönnies wrote about the changes that took place as societies became urban. Tonnies
wrote that there was a strong sense of community, or Gemeinschaft, is prevalent in traditional, rural
areas. He believed that there was a strong sense of kinship, neighborhood and

The $55 value is on the lower range of the analyst eztimates, with a best guess estimate of $67.94.
Since the value of the stock had been below $45 for 4 months, the offer of 55 dollars represented
a 29% premium to investors. Bollenbach knew that management would be resistant of any

trading at 43 dollars, the stand alone value of its equity was 16.4 billion dollars. With the 55
dollar offer to ITT, the company s value went up to approximately 21 billion. After the offer, the
stock was trading at $63.50, which gave the total equity a value of 24.2 billion dollars. With the
proposed trivesture proposal, the company would lose synergistic value as three separate
companies, compared to one large company. Examples of these include a number of overhead costs
which gain economies of scale. In addition, ITT likely has synergistic revenues coming from the
fact that it operates all three business segments. Analyst estimates indicate that the present value of

No One Is A Little Holy Without Suffering
No one is a little holy without suffering... Brideshead Revisited The novel Brideshead Revisited
by Evelyn Waugh is the story of Captain Charles Ryder s interactions with the Marchmain
family. It begins when he meets Sebastian Flyte at Oxford University; from there the novel tells
the tale of Charles s life and his time with Sebastian s family where Charles eventually falls for
Sebastian s sister Julia. This novel takes place during the time periods of World War I and World
War II in which Charles participates in. Wars can be times of confusion and turmoil. Especially,
World Wars that include many different countries and are essentially affecting the whole world.
The word backdrop means background or setting. Using World War I and World War II as the
backdrops set up a certain tone for the novel in which the characters also have an internal war
between happiness and religion amongst themselves as well as the external wars. Sebastian
struggles with drinking to escape the his true vocation and the troubles of the real world. During
this time period, teenagers and young adults were called Bright Young Things. They were given
this title due to the reckless and flamboyant activities they would participate in. The Bright Young
Things could have acted in this manner for a myriad of reasons during this time, but each reason
was connected to the war ( Bright Young Things). Sebastian and Charles could be considered apart
of this group. Sebastian s recklessness could be

What Are Plate Tectonics And Ocean Currents Influence...
How do plate tectonics and ocean currents influence climate change?
The tectonic plates are all over the earth s surface. Over the years, these plates and their
characteristics have become common knowledge. These plates move around 3cm at least every
year and they move in different directions due to the convection currents of molten magma that
flows beneath them. [Raunekk 2010] A convention current definition is a current in that a fluid is
that a results from convection. [Earth s dynamic] Then the movement of these plates are the main
forces behind catastrophic events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions as well as the
development of mountains. In addition, this means that these plates are the main reason why our
planet surface looks the way it does today. When processes such as pushing, folding and tilting (as
well as other forms of tectonic movement) take place, it shapes our planet [Weather Wizkids 2015]
as well as playing its part in heating it to an unbearable degree along with the aids of ocean
currents. In comparison to the plates that mainly produce heat through its products the ocean
current move the heat all over the earth s surface. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the ocean has specific heat capacity thousands times that of air [Science line 2015] this then in
turn means that the air above the water is heated not necessarily to the same temperature but it does
rise. Furthermore, this then can being to cause a chain reaction effect with global warming. Firstly
let s put this in perspective imagine that everything is heating up meaning that the water is
beginning to heat up as well. Now the water begins to increase the temperature in the air above it,
after that the heat within the air is transported all around the world dude to the ocean currents.
From here, it is easy to see how global warming effects the whole planet at once. [Science line

Children s Awareness Of Racial Attitudes And Preferences
Race Status
In 2012, Margaret Beale Spencer, child psychologist and a leading researcher the field of child
development, was brought on by CNN to design a pilot study that examines children and race. The
study aimed to reveal children s awareness of racial attitudes and preferences. The results were
shown during Kids on Race: The Hidden Picture , on AC360В°.
After watching this study play out, it was obvious that children seem to be given messages about
what is viewed as the good/positive race, and which is viewed as the bad/negative, race. Although it
might be expected that each child would choose their respective race as the one they gravitate to for
the positive questions, and a different race for the negative questions, what was unfortunate was
that both White and Black children showed a bias towards Whites. Since children are so strongly
influenced by their environments, and the people around them, we can assume that they are being
exposed to implicit racism, and subconscious bias attitudes. As stated by Dr. Spencer, We are still
living in a society where dark things are devalued, and white things are valued. Antonia Darder
worked for many years to understand how members of bicultural groups learn to function in both
their primary culture, and that of the dominant, mainstream culture in the society in which they
live. This includes cultural conflicts, racism, and other forms of cultural invasion (p. 48). In order

Thesis Statement Introduction An analysis of the literary elements imagery, symbolism, and tone
/mood in Barbie Doll , by Marge Piercy and, Hanging Fire by Audre Lorde reveals each character
and their struggle with their identity in society.
Summary of Barbie Doll In the poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy, we read about a young girlwho
has self image problems. Due to the expectations of society, she is not happy with her physical
appearance. She had many good qualities but is unable to see these for herself. Instead she only
sees is a a great big nose and fat legs (Piercy,1936). In order to conform to society s idea of beauty,
the young girl was advised to play coy, exhorted to come on hearty, exercise, diet, smile and...

Hanging Fire may have been her way of expressing the guidance of her mother could have helped
her through her confusion with her sexuality. I think this really impacted her, so she reminds
herself and the reader of it at the end of every stanza.
Compare/Contrast Authors Use of Literary Element Imagery Imagery is used to depict identity
issues in Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy and in Hanging Fire by Audre Lorde. In both Barbie Doll
and Hanging Fire, a young girl struggles with their appearance. In Barbie Doll the author Marge
Piercy uses imagery to portray a young girl who is unhappy with the way she looks. For instance,
in the following lines She was healthy, tested intelligent, possessed strong arms and back,
abundant sexual drive and manual dexterity. She went to and fro apologizing. Everyone saw a fat
nose on thick legs, (Piercy, 1936) although she possessed several good qualities, the only thing that
stood out to her was her nose and legs. In Hanging fire, the author Audre Lorde uses imagery to
show a young woman struggling with her identity as well, not only with the physical part of her
identity but the emotional side as well. After repeated use of the line, and momma s in the bedroom
with the door closed, (Lorde, 1978) it is apparent the young girl struggles without the guidance of
her mother.
Literary Element Symbolism in Barbie Doll The title Barbie Doll itself symbolizes a thin, curvy
body, with

Handling Of Bags By Airlines Essay
Confirm your luggage and passenger information in the kiosk. Upon confirmation, the kiosk then
dispenses destination tag. Attach that luggage destination tag to each luggage. Together with the
tags, the kiosk will also dispense the boarding pass for the passenger. Step 4
Place the luggage where directed or indicated. For some airlines and in some airports, the
passengers may have to carry their luggage for a short distance up to the luggage collection area.
Whereas, there are some airlines that have stationed personnel at each kiosk to take the passengers
luggage once one complete the check in procedure (James).
The Baggage Delay Problem
Handling of bags by airlines remains a challenging aspect in the baggage handling process and this
is bound to be an issue facing Emirates. The expanding air traffic increases the stress on the airline s
bag operations, delays and consequent unexpected alterations to schedules. These can negatively
affect the airline as a whole. In a similar manner to other businesses, Emirates encounters its own
set of challenges in its operations. One of the main problems relates to the delays that passengers
experience when dropping their baggage at check in counters. Normally, this can be attributed to
the long processes and queues that arise in printing of tags and sorting out the baggage. Often, the
sorting of the bags and printing of tags that take place at the check in counter ends up creating long
queues and unnecessary delays. The delays that

Metal Plater and Cruddy Creek
From the data given of the measured amounts of cadmium given at each stations along Cruddy
Creek, there were extremely higher concentration levels, 430 mg/kg dry weight total of cadmium
from stations F, G, and H, upstream in comparison to a total combined amount of 315mg/kg dry
weight of cadmium from stations A, B, C, D, E, and the reference sites. Thus, the following
locations have been identified as potential sources responsible for the distribution of cadmiuminto
Cruddy Creek; Atlas Batteries, Metal Plater, and Pacific Coal Electric power plant due to their
relevant histories and proximities to the increased amounts of cadmium.
Atlas Batteries has been a part of Cruddy Creek since 1970. Their main objectives were lead acid
batteries recycling and now also recycling of nickel cadmium rechargeable batteries. They are a
potential source of cadmium contamination because of their methodology of disposal of sulfuric
acid via an open, unlined pit which allows for chemicals to seep into the sediments at a much faster
and easier rate. In addition, Atlas Batteries has a direct effluent discharge into Cruddy Creek that
carries contaminants of concern such as cadmium, nickel, lead, and zinc.
Metal Plater has a long history with Cruddy Creek since its operations began in 1930. Their focus
is on different types of electroplating. Due to the complex process of electroplating the waste
products that are produced may be acidic or alkaline and contain significant concentrations of

The majority of reality television shows are based around competition, which means that, in
general, you will have one winner and a group of losers. Prose suggests that the primary lesson
to be learned from the eat or be eaten mentality of many of these shows is that the laws of natural
selection are even more brutal, inflexible, and sensible than one might find in Darwin s theory of
survival of the fittest; furthermore, Prose adds that it is perfectly acceptable, even accepted, for
the contestants to marshal all their skills and resources to succeed in a struggle that only one
person can win ( Voting 22). For many, this might seem perfectly acceptable. Why, after all, play
a game unless you want to win? However, such a question avoids the very important fact that
most of these shows also follow a curious interpretation of the values of team work in this case
each player working for the common goal of winning as a team, when, in the end, there can only
be one winner. As a result, individuals are often seeking inventive ways to deceive, confuse, and
undermine their fellow teammates with episode after episode of these various shows featuring
contestants who charm other characters into letting them stick around while always ready to crush
anyone who stands in the way of their success ( Mirror 18). Rushdie suggests that this all occurs in

Rapid Climate Change Events During The Period Between 10ka...
The last glacial period has encountered numerous large magnitude, rapid climate change events;
characterising the period between 10ka and 50ka (Steig, 1999). During this period was the Last
Glacial Maximum (LGM), which occurred approximately 21ka, a glacial period defined by
changes in greenhouse gases, sea level and ice sheets (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006). In comparison
the mid Holocene occurred approximately 6000 years ago, during the current interglacial. The
Holocene period is regarded as relatively muted in terms of signals of climatechange, with changes
primarily associated with changes in seasonal solar radiance (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006; Steig,
1999).
Models have been constructed in order to replicate the past climates, with specific reference to The
Community Climate System Model: Version 3 (CCSM3), aimed to define continental scale
dynamics, variability and climate change (Collins et al., 2006). With the use of models the
environmental variation between the LGM and mid Holocene periods can be construed. Roche et
al (2007) refers to the LGM as the classic benchmark for models, enhanced by the use of proxy data
associated with ocean surfaces, vegetation, oceanic circulation and atmospheric conditions.
Clark et al (2009) presented the extent of the LGM, with growth of ice sheets to their maximum
extent occurring between 33ka and 26.5ka; primarily in response to climate forcing from decreases
in northern summer insolation, tropical Pacific sea surface

God s Omnipotence
Some people refer God as the Omnipotent, that is to say a being that has unlimited power, and is
able to do everything. God has four different attributes, he is omniscient, simple, eternal and
omnipotent. The latter raises some difficulties, and paradoxes. In a first part I will show how
omnipotence can be defined differently, how radical omnipotence differs with limited omnipotence
and the issue with logic. Then I will show how Gods omnipotence raises some paradoxes and
contradictions, by relying on the paradox of the stone and the problem of evil. Finally I will try
to answer some questions concerning God s ability to sin, to bring about the past, and to do things
not done by him. Does God s powers have a limit, could it then be... Show more content on

(Mackie, 1955)The claim that evil is necessary as a counterpart to good (Mackie, 1955, p.203) errs,
indeed we can again assert that as God made the laws of logic it would be possible for only good to
exist in the world.
Nevertheless the existence of evil in the world is required to prove what good really is. Without evil,
everything, every actions are considered good. But if good is everywhere, it becomes difficult
to measure it, and we cannot compare it with other actions. To be good is to possess and display
moral virtue, but how can we do that if evil does not exist ? Good has to be opposed to evil, for it
to exist. It then does not distract it with God s omnipotence. Mackie (1955) reckons that first
order evil such as pain and misery contrasts with first order good pleasure and happiness .
Moreover a second order good such as sympathy can only exist if there is a second order evil
suffering , similarly with heroism in facing danger (Mackie, 1955, p.206). But according to
Mackie this claim fails, in fact the second order evil that is cowardice or cruelty (Mackie, 1955,
p.207) is rising as much as another second order good. And if God were omnipotent and morally
good he would try and eliminate those evils.
Regarding evil and omnipotence many philosophers have taken the position that human have
freewill and are independent of God. And that

Determination Of The Presence Of Herpes Simplex
Determination of the presence of Herpes simplex through Indirect ELISA
Priscilla Mariel M. Cadiz
Biology Department, De La Salle University, 2401 Taft Ave, Manila, Philippines
*Email: cadizpriscillamariel@yahoo.com
Sexually transmitted disease is currently one of the major health concerns in the world today.
Herpes simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV 1
which is often found in the mouth area and HSV 2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used in
order to determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA
involves two antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary
antibody bound to the primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better
amplified signal. Results obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV.
Indirect ELISA however cannot determine what specific type of HSV is present in the sample.
The cause of HSV 1 is the exchange of body fluids particularly obtained through kissing while
sexual contact causes HSV 2. Though it rarely happens, there are possibilities that false positive or
false negative results were obtained in Indirect ELISA. Interference may cause error.

The Controversy Over The Ethics Of Stem Cell Research Essay
The Controversy of Embryonic Stem Cell Research THE 210/04December 2, 2012
There is a debate over the ethics of stem cell research and many people on opposing sides of the
issue are not aware of all aspects. In order to intelligently debate the legal and ethical issues
regarding stem cell research, one must understand what stem cells are, the applications currently
available, and the impact of the research. It is also important to understand the distinction between
adult and embryonic stem cells before exploring their uses and impacts Stem cells possess unique
properties that make them different from all other cells in the body. Most cells do not have the
ability to replicate where stem cells have the potential to multiply indefinitely. Before they have a
specific function in the body, stem cells are essentially blank slates. There are two basic types of
stem cells, which have different empirical properties and ethical implications.
Researchers successfully attained embryonic stem cells from the embryos of mice in 1981, which
led to the discovery of this process in human beings in 1998 (National Institutes of Health, 2001).
Embryonic stem cells are derived from an in vitro embryo between five days and seven weeks.
Regenerative medicine can benefit greatly from the characteristics of embryonic stem cells. This
process enables damaged organs and tissues to heal themselves with the help of implanted stem
cells matching the organ (Hunziker, 2010, p. 1). There are two traits

  • 2. The Consequences Of Monetary Policy Monetary policy has to do with the regulations that a government puts in place to control money in circulation in the economy. An effective monetary policy will ensure that current and anticipated events in the economy of a country are taken care of. The Federal Reserve (The Fed) is the central bank of the United States, and it is responsible for the formulation and execution of these policies. Banks made available huge amounts of money available in form of loans; banks were responsible for creating large debts in form of loan interests. People who had borrowed were eventually unable to pay. The creation of private credit and money led to a financial crisis, threatening to make banks bankrupt. The same banks now became weary of lending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lenders felt the burden left by defaulters and their capital reduced. Subprime borrowers are those borrowers who have low credit ratings and poor creditworthiness. The subprime mortgage market meltdown began on 9 August 2007 and continued into 2008 (Cecchetti, 2008). It arose when banks created a lot of money in a short time and used the opportunity to raise house prices and speculations on financial markets. Initial subprime mortgages were affordable and many borrowers were attracted to them. However, they were adjustable after a given duration. It is this adjustment that instigated many defaults in payments, mostly beginning in 2007 when higher payments were demanded. By 2009, banks were going bankrupt due to the high number of defaulted mortgage payments. Also, lenders came up with creative mortgage packages upon speculations of growing house prices. With mortgage backed securities (MBS), the process of securitization occurs whereby home mortgages are grouped into categorized pools by the issuing banks. They are then sold as a single security where the risks are spread out. These pooled assets backed securities were attractive to both lender and borrower because lender sold the loan and borrower accessed credit easily. Such collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) were sold to other market investors to reduce the risk of default. These investors were attracted by the higher returns, especially due to the lower interests. During the liquidity period, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nonlinear And Nonlinear Model Linear Model in a spatially variant manner because mapping function processes for each individual pixel. Local operators characterized that more satisfactorily than global operators in terms of the detail preservation and compression ratio of the dynamic range. Also, there are two tone mapping model linear tone mapping model and nonlinear tone mapping model. Linear model does not need multiscale decomposition or segmentation of the images into binary or fractional maps, where the problems associated with layer decomposition are not found. Linear model not only interested in making the output images look natural by enhancing pixel intensity more significantly in highlights, but also satisfies high radiance similarity with the ground truth HDR images. The problem appears when using linear model that usually fails when luminance value of a local patch changes abruptly. Also, the dynamic rangeof the dark region will be compressed at the same rate as the bright pixels, which causes losing details in this patch. Nonlinear model synchronize with the nonlinear relationship between the physical magnitudes of effects and the perceived intensity of the effects. Nonlinear model functiondepends on instead of linearly compressing the contrast of a patch in an input HDR image, it adopt the local gamma correction strategy which can not only effectively compress the bright pixels but also enhance the dark ones in one hit even in challenging patches Compared with the locally linear model, nonlinear ... The Importance Of Fragmentation In The Black Community This Open Letter is written to address several positions that remain a source of fragmentation within the black community, in spite having many monumental successes in industries, continues to lag behind in education, economic development and being in a position to strategically expand its family base from a construct of advancement, in lieu of having to depend upon subsidies or being completely left out of any progressive developments. As a black civil rights leader, and minister myself, I have appealed to you and your office, National Black Action Network, to initiate a constructive dialogue by which our people could garner effective strategies to position and empower themselves for global success; to be a positive force to create and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dichotomy that exists among blacks in America is a gaping hole too many have left their fate to politicians and other media personalities to bridge the gap in their personal lives, and have gotten nothing in return for investing that trust. Which brings me to this point: I don t understand your position as a Civil Rights Leader if, and when, the most vulnerable in our society cannot get adequate representation to at least explore what discrepancies exist, and second, to demand a resolution from those that induced the problem. You were in Washington, D.C. in late February 2017 during the same time my organization, CAAP (Coalition of African AmericanPastors) was meeting at the National Press Club, and I made several attempts through our media relations department to speak briefly with you to explore a roundtable to address the visible fallout among young blacks in America. Without question, I value and do understand you have a busy schedule like I do. I know you were leading a social justice MARCH during this time, however, what I find alarming is the lack of response from your office to reconsider having a meeting in the future. • 6. Essay United States Border Patrol Border Patrol The U.S. Border Patrol to me is very important to the United States of America and to me as well. Without the Border Patrol, America would be a goat standing in the middle of a wolf cage. The Border Patrol and their agents border the boundaries of America so we can be safe in our homes. People don t realize how important any kind of law enforcement is, until the day that they need assistance comes. I don t take our men and women who protect us Americans; it is something that not everyone can say that they have. I have no one in my family that has worked with the Border Patrol, and I want to be the first in my family to join the Border Patrol. I am from Del Rio Texas, a border town neighbors with Mexico. Even though some changes have affected every aspect of the operations from its early days, the values, professionalism, honor, integrity, and respect helped shape the Border Patrol from the early years and they still remain the same today. Since the very beginning agents have been patrolling our borders, Mounted watchmen of the U.S. Immigration Service patrolled the border in an effort to prevent illegal crossings as early as 1904 (Border Patrol History, web). The agent s efforts were undertaken only when resources permitted. The inspectors were all out of El Paso, Texas, Though they never totaled more than seventy five, they patrolled as far west as California trying to restrict the flow of illegal Chinese immigration (Border Patrol History, web). In 1915, Congress approved a separate group of Mounted Guards. Most rode on horseback, but a few operated cars and boats. Although these inspectors had broader arrest authority, they still largely pursued Chinese immigrants trying to avoid the Chinese exclusion laws. The agents were immigrant inspectors, assigned to inspection stations, and could not watch the border at all times, Texas Rangers were also often assigned to patrol duties by the state, and their efforts were noted as singularly effective (Border Patrol History, web). • 7. Microfinance Institutions Sustainability MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking. Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low income areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major distinction is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial institutions (Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and administrative loses faced by growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by borrowers represents the struggle of MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve financial sustainability. The latter however, can be reached by altering the capital structure of MFI through diversification of source of funding or rejection of capital which can lead to malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented, institutions can proceed to expansion reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting sustainability. This essay would focus on the role on subsidies in performance of MFI. The rationale behind exploring this form of noncommercial capital is that total amount of subsidized capital in MFI reached almost 16 billion in 2009 (Bloomberg, 2012) posing a question regarding the alternative and probably more efficient use of respective funds to support poor. The second reason derives from the number of researches discussed later, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Musical Works Of Giacomo Puccini Turandot displays the musical works of Giacomo Puccini, yet was unfinished at the time of his death in 1924 (Edmonton Opera, Program Notes, P. 17). At the premiere, in La Scala, Milan on April 25th, 1926 the work was performed as written by Puccini, however two supplementary scenes were completed and added by Franco Alfano following the premiere (Edmonton Opera, Program Notes, p.17). Puccini worked with two librettists while writing Turandot: Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni (Edmonton Opera, Program Notes, p.17). This musical work is a late romantic opera, with an emphasis on emotions being prevalent throughout the opera (Kerman Tomlinson, Listen, 8th edition, 2015, p. 274). As the conductor took his place in the pit, the audience began the performance with a loud applause. When the curtains were drawn back, the audience s attention was immediately fixed upon the stage. As the characters began to file in, one s eyes were easily drawn to the characters of wealth and importance as their costumes were more colourful and lavish then those of the chorus. The musicaccompanying this image drew the audience even further into the performance as its stylistic features helped to portray a sense of urgency and warning. Three acts formed the evening s performance. Act One Act One began with a feeling of ominousness created by loud tense chords played on the strings, followed by a haunting segment of staccato played on the xylophone. • 9. How The Church Has Been Neglected By The Community Essay Within the African American community, Christianity has manifest itself to be one of the cornerstones of the community. Surprisingly enough however, the church was introduced to African Americans as a means of trying to control the thoughts and actions of the slaves. When analyzing the church in its modern state, it would be hard to come to this realization. Since its humble beginnings, many African Americans have come to adopt the Christian faith as their own. Even as slaves, African Americans began starting their own churches to allow them to worship how they wanted. Churches such as Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary BaptistChurch (GMPMBC) (which has been a part of the local community since 1939) are prime examples of how the church has grown to become an integral part of the African American community. • 10. The Nickel Electrode Batteries Are Vulnerable The nickel electrode batteries are vulnerable to both reversible and irreversible degradation. The reversible degradation forms can be rectified by fully discharging the cell and then recharging it. The irreversible forms of degradation vary depending on the types of electrodes and the application of the battery. However, the irreversible forms of degradation are majorly linked to the number and depth of the discharge/recharge cycles and the operation temperatures. The primary causes of irreversible degradation include the decomposition of the organic material into the electrolyte, corrosion of the nickel electrode, dendrite formation on the surface of the negative electrolyte, electrode poisoning, and the failure of the gas barrier. Additionally, the nickel electrode batteries are vulnerable to thermal runaway, which can be described as a vicious cycle caused by heating and augmented discharge and voltage. The batteries are also susceptible to gassing, which can lead to the buildup of pressure in the cell that may lead to permanent battery damage. The batteries are also engrossed by a number of safety and environmental concerns because they are manufactured using an extremely toxic metal cadmium. Crude estimates must be made about the remaining population size because it has become hard to count the number of animals left in the thick vegetation where they have been forced to reside from people invading their areas. Asian elephants can be found in grassland, tropical evergreen forest, semi evergreen forest, moist deciduous forest, dry deciduous forested and dry thorn forest, in addition to cultivated and secondary forests and scrublands. He was immediately well liked by the pope and everyone else at the Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive individual. As Giorgio Vasari once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable that even animals loved him, not to speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132) In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away from the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza della Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas and his pupils would paint whatever he sketched. In the Stanza della Segnatura, there was a stanza for each of the four walls.. Each side represented a topic. The four sides were about theology, poetry, philosophy, law. • 16. Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublinwere not able to support their own children. Due to these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical facts. Swift s proposal is a satiremade to jolt the people of Dublin, Irelandinto understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for a long term elucidation is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country, ... What the illegal aliens want are jobs that will potentially give them a higher wage in comparison to the country they came from. To effectively weigh whether providing health care to immigrants should be considered a right or privilege, one would have to consider how much they contribute to economic growth. A Pew study from last year showed that undocumented immigrants add 600,000 to 700,000 new consumers to the economy every year. Since consumption makes up 70 percent of economic activity in the U.S., this is important (and of course, more consumption means more sales tax revenue). Immigration is also expected to account for one forth of the Census Bureau s estimated labor force growth through 2012. Some economic estimates gauge that undocumented immigrants contribute $22 billion, in total, to the economy each year a number that would increase if they were given the opportunity to become legal (Karvounis, 2007). This evidence suggests that illegal aliens are actually giving back to the nation by doing all of the dirty, low income jobs and are only using approximately $11 billion in health care and they are contributing about $22 billion a year to the economy. The meeting is one on one in a fairly comfortable setting. The employee is then given a chance to hear their manager s observations and goal ideas with time to discuss and ask questions along the way. At the end of the meeting each person signs the PMP agreeing that they will work towards the agreed upon goals and understand the grade their manager has given, wither it is the same or different from the grade they gave themselves. HR is then given the PMPs for everyone s files and assists the managers with any escalations or over the top issues as they come up. Furthermore, as many as 30 million people died due to numerous reasons such as the unpropitious climate conditions, pressure to meet the standards of the authorities, and mass starvation. The failure of this period led to Mao Zedong being dismissed from his rank as the State Chairman of RPC, although he still kept his title as the Chairman of the CCP. In order to combat economic disorder caused by the Great Leap Program, Liu Shaoqi attained his rank as the new Chairman of RPC while Deng Xiaoping became the CPC General Secretary. In the book, Bogle compares purchasing stocks with that of the return on businesses. He sees that the correlation is very similar; by investing in stocks, you are investing in the business as well. This makes it risky in the short term, because of unpredictability. Half of stocks a person picks will beat the market, and half won t generally. This results in the concept of a zero sum game. Navalism further changes the perception of how the Pacific was because it encourages the Pacific to be more militarily fortified because there was imperialism in other countries too like France and Great Britain. The Samoans tried to get rid of the imperialistic perspective by protesting that they have no interracial marriages, unequal pay and benefits for the Samoan police guards, and have decided to form a copra boycott which shuts down the naval government. Congress reacted to the protest by making the territory into legal status. Furthermore, after the Samoans realized the consequences of the Organic Act, they rejected it due to the consequences which it has on communal landholding. Finally, the Samoans resisted the imperial system by advocating an antimilitarist activist organization which tells the US military to be held responsible for the sexual assaults and the violence that the US military caused them to face. Stem Research On Stem Cell Research Taylor Basham Professor Susan Kelly English 111 36 25 November 2014 Stem Cell Research Stem cell research has cultivated a new, miraculous study in the health field. The study has led to an increase in curing diseases over the past couple of decades. Before stem cell research, diseases were destroying and devastating lives continuously on end. With the use of stem cells in modern time, diseases are no longer taking control of lives. The innovation in biomedical technology, such as stem cell research, has greatly impacted the understanding of how diseases can be treated, how drugs can be tested, how more careers will be available in the future, and how newborns can safely provide help. Stem cells are cells that give rise to all other cells in the body with a specialized function. Blood cells, muscle cells, and the cells of internal organs all form from stem cells. There are several sources of stem cells found in the body. Two known sources of stem cells are the embryonic stem cell and the adult stem cell. Embryonic stem cells are found in embryos three to five days old. This means that they are able to divide into more stem cells, or become any specialized cell in the body at this early stage. Adult stem cells are rare, but not uncommon. These adult stem cells are found in low numbers amongst all adult tissues. However, these cells are most commonly found in bone marrow and fat. Unlike embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells have limited ability to breeding other cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The transition from agriculture to mass production know as the industrial revolution has impacted all of our lives from indoor plumbing to electricity. Industrialization is a process that leads to a significantly increased proportion of a population engaged in factory work and nonagricultural occupations; it increases the number of people living near factories and relying on mechanically produced goods and services (Monti et al. 2015: 191). Industrialization in Western societies brought about about urbanization, the movement of populations from rural to urban areas; the growth and development and redevelopment of cities (Monti et al. 2015: 192). The shift to larger effective machines caused many factories to open up which in turn provided opportunity for people seeking jobs. The jobs brought in employees and their families, which created a need for more housing. As more and more people moved near factories, cities became larger and more dense. Many changes occurred as societies changed from rural and small to large, industrial and urban settings. German sociologist Ferdinand TГ¶nnies wrote about the changes that took place as societies became urban. Tonnies wrote that there was a strong sense of community, or Gemeinschaft, is prevalent in traditional, rural areas. He believed that there was a strong sense of kinship, neighborhood and ... Over the years, these plates and their characteristics have become common knowledge. Children s Awareness Of Racial Attitudes And Preferences Race Status In 2012, Margaret Beale Spencer, child psychologist and a leading researcher the field of child development, was brought on by CNN to design a pilot study that examines children and race. The study aimed to reveal children s awareness of racial attitudes and preferences. The results were shown during Kids on Race: The Hidden Picture , on AC360В°. After watching this study play out, it was obvious that children seem to be given messages about what is viewed as the good/positive race, and which is viewed as the bad/negative, race. Although it might be expected that each child would choose their respective race as the one they gravitate to for the positive questions, and a different race for the negative questions, what was unfortunate was that both White and Black children showed a bias towards Whites. Since children are so strongly influenced by their environments, and the people around them, we can assume that they are being exposed to implicit racism, and subconscious bias attitudes. • 50. Rapid Climate Change Events During The Period Between 10ka... The last glacial period has encountered numerous large magnitude, rapid climate change events; characterising the period between 10ka and 50ka (Steig, 1999). During this period was the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), which occurred approximately 21ka, a glacial period defined by changes in greenhouse gases, sea level and ice sheets (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006). In comparison the mid Holocene occurred approximately 6000 years ago, during the current interglacial. The Holocene period is regarded as relatively muted in terms of signals of climatechange, with changes primarily associated with changes in seasonal solar radiance (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006; Steig, 1999). Models have been constructed in order to replicate the past climates, with specific reference to The Community Climate System Model: Version 3 (CCSM3), aimed to define continental scale dynamics, variability and climate change (Collins et al., 2006). With the use of models the environmental variation between the LGM and mid Holocene periods can be construed. Roche et al (2007) refers to the LGM as the classic benchmark for models, enhanced by the use of proxy data associated with ocean surfaces, vegetation, oceanic circulation and atmospheric conditions. Clark et al (2009) presented the extent of the LGM, with growth of ice sheets to their maximum extent occurring between 33ka and 26.5ka; primarily in response to climate forcing from decreases in northern summer insolation, tropical Pacific sea surface ... • 51. God s Omnipotence Some people refer God as the Omnipotent, that is to say a being that has unlimited power, and is able to do everything. God has four different attributes, he is omniscient, simple, eternal and omnipotent. The latter raises some difficulties, and paradoxes. In a first part I will show how omnipotence can be defined differently, how radical omnipotence differs with limited omnipotence and the issue with logic. Then I will show how Gods omnipotence raises some paradoxes and contradictions, by relying on the paradox of the stone and the problem of evil. Finally I will try to answer some questions concerning God s ability to sin, to bring about the past, and to do things not done by him. Does God s powers have a limit, could it then be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Mackie, 1955)The claim that evil is necessary as a counterpart to good (Mackie, 1955, p.203) errs, indeed we can again assert that as God made the laws of logic it would be possible for only good to exist in the world. Nevertheless the existence of evil in the world is required to prove what good really is. Without evil, everything, every actions are considered good. But if good is everywhere, it becomes difficult to measure it, and we cannot compare it with other actions. To be good is to possess and display moral virtue, but how can we do that if evil does not exist ? Good has to be opposed to evil, for it to exist. It then does not distract it with God s omnipotence. Mackie (1955) reckons that first order evil such as pain and misery contrasts with first order good pleasure and happiness . Moreover a second order good such as sympathy can only exist if there is a second order evil suffering , similarly with heroism in facing danger (Mackie, 1955, p.206). But according to Mackie this claim fails, in fact the second order evil that is cowardice or cruelty (Mackie, 1955, p.207) is rising as much as another second order good. And if God were omnipotent and morally good he would try and eliminate those evils. Regarding evil and omnipotence many philosophers have taken the position that human have freewill and are independent of God. And that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Determination Of The Presence Of Herpes Simplex Determination of the presence of Herpes simplex through Indirect ELISA Priscilla Mariel M. Cadiz Biology Department, De La Salle University, 2401 Taft Ave, Manila, Philippines *Email: cadizpriscillamariel@yahoo.com Sexually transmitted disease is currently one of the major health concerns in the world today. Herpes simplex virus is one cause of STDs. There are two types of HSV present namely HSV 1 which is often found in the mouth area and HSV 2 found at the genitals. Indirect ELISA was used in order to determine the presence of Herpes simplex among 3 different samples. Indirect ELISA involves two antibodies; the primary antibody which is bound to the antigen and secondary antibody bound to the primary antibody. Results produced by indirect ELISA produces better amplified signal. Results obtained showed that 1 of the 3 samples tested positive for HSV. Indirect ELISA however cannot determine what specific type of HSV is present in the sample. The cause of HSV 1 is the exchange of body fluids particularly obtained through kissing while sexual contact causes HSV 2. Though it rarely happens, there are possibilities that false positive or false negative results were obtained in Indirect ELISA. Interference may cause error. 1.INTRODUCTION ELISA or Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay is a biochemical technique used to check for the presence of a target protein of interest in an experimental sample and how much of protein is present (Voller et al, 1978). ELISA is considered an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Controversy Over The Ethics Of Stem Cell Research Essay The Controversy of Embryonic Stem Cell Research THE 210/04December 2, 2012 There is a debate over the ethics of stem cell research and many people on opposing sides of the issue are not aware of all aspects. In order to intelligently debate the legal and ethical issues regarding stem cell research, one must understand what stem cells are, the applications currently available, and the impact of the research. It is also important to understand the distinction between adult and embryonic stem cells before exploring their uses and impacts Stem cells possess unique properties that make them different from all other cells in the body. Most cells do not have the ability to replicate where stem cells have the potential to multiply indefinitely. Before they have a specific function in the body, stem cells are essentially blank slates. There are two basic types of stem cells, which have different empirical properties and ethical implications. Researchers successfully attained embryonic stem cells from the embryos of mice in 1981, which led to the discovery of this process in human beings in 1998 (National Institutes of Health, 2001). Embryonic stem cells are derived from an in vitro embryo between five days and seven weeks. Regenerative medicine can benefit greatly from the characteristics of embryonic stem cells. This process enables damaged organs and tissues to heal themselves with the help of implanted stem cells matching the organ (Hunziker, 2010, p. 1). There are two traits ...
