A notch filter is a frequency selective filter that attenuates signals at a specific center frequency, creating a null or deep notch in the filter's frequency response. Notch filters work by introducing a pair of complex conjugate zeros on the unit circle at the angle of the frequency to be eliminated. They are commonly used to remove hum and interference from power lines, measure non-linearities of power amplifiers by avoiding the carrier frequency, and in applications like Raman spectroscopy and laser-based fluorescence instrumentation that require eliminating specific frequency components. Examples given include an anti-hum filter that passes all frequencies between 59-61 Hz except 60 Hz to remove mains hum, and a very narrow notch filter used in radio frequencies to avoid overloading a spectrum

Your Ultimate Guide to Designing Analog Filters - Welcome to OXELTECH.pdfaud Scarlet
In contrast to a digital circuit, which requires a signal to be one of two discrete levels, an Analog circuit uses a continuous, variable signal that is called an Analog signal.
In signal processing, a filter is a device or process that removes some unwanted components or features from a signal. Filtering is a class of signal processing, the defining feature of filters being the complete or partial suppression of some aspect of the signal. Most often, this means removing some frequencies or frequency bands. However, filters do not exclusively act in the frequency domain; especially in the field of image processing many other targets for filtering exist. Correlations can be removed for certain frequency components and not for others without having to act in the frequency domain. Filters are widely used in electronics and telecommunication, in radio, television, audio recording, radar, control systems, music synthesis, image processing, and computer graphics.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
2. GENERAL
A Filter is an electrical circuit that is designed to pass a specified band of
frequencies while attenuating all the signals outside that band.
It is a frequency selective circuit.
The filters are basically classified as active filters & passive filters.
They are used in circuits which require the separation of signals according
to their frequencies.
They are widely use in communication & signal
processing.
3. Filters
Background:
. Filters may be classified as either digital or analog.
. Digital filters are implemented using a digital computer or
special purpose digital hardware.
. Analog filters may be classified as either passive or
active and are usually implemented with R, L, and C
components and operational amplifiers.
4. COMMONLY USED FILTERS
The most commonly used filters are :-
Low Pass Filter
High Pass Filter
Band Pass Filter
Band Reject Filter
All Pass Filter
Notch Filter
Comb Filter
5. NOTCH FILTER
A notch filter is a filter that contains one or more deep notches or, ideally ,
perfect nulls in its frequency response.
Notch filters are useful in many applications where specific frequency
components must be eliminated.
6.
7. To create a null in the frequency response of a filter at a frequency
ω0, introduce a pair of complex-conjugate zeros on the unit
circle at the angle ω0.
Hence, the zeros are selected as z1,2 = e±jω0
Then, the system function for the notch filter is
H(z) = b0(1 − ejω0z−1)(1 − e−jω0z−1)
= b0(1 − (2 cos ω0)z−1 + z−2) where b0 is a gain factor.
Figure illustrates the magnitude response of a notch filter having a null at ω = π/4.
8.
9. APPLICATION OF NOTCH FILTER
IN OPTICS
Notch Filters are used in Raman spectroscopy, confocal or multi-photon
microscopy, laser-based fluorescence instrumentation, or other life science
applications.
IN COMMUNICATION
Notch filters are used in the for applications like elimination of 50- and 60-Hz
hum components to avoid interference of power frequency with Communication
channels.
10. EXAMPLES
In the audio domain
Anti-hum filter
For countries using 60 Hz power lines:
•Low Freq: 59 Hz
•Middle Freq 60 Hz
•High Freq: 61 Hz
This means that the filter passes all frequencies, except for the range of 59–61 Hz. This would be used
to filter out the mains hum from the 60 Hz power line, though its higher harmonics could still be
present.
For countries where power transmission is at 50Hz, the filter would have a 49–51 Hz range.
In the radio frequency (RF) domain
Non-linearities of power amplifiers
When measuring the non-linearities of power amplifiers, a very narrow notch filter can be very useful
to avoid the carrier frequency. Use of the filter may ensure that the maximum input power of a
spectrum analyser used to detect spurious content will not be exceeded.
