Text Heb 10:19-31
Heb 10:19-21
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the
holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated
for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
To get this “let us” is easy. Just go down to the
farmers market where the master Gardener has the
seeds set out for the taking. He’s done all the work
to get the seed to you; But with the seed in hand
there remains much work to be done before you
have a harvest.
I. Let Us Preparation
Heb 10:22
22 Let us draw near
with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water.
Ps 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I
have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may
declare all thy works.
Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this
people draw near me with their mouth, and with their
lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far
from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:
Jer 30:21 And their nobles shall be of themselves,
and their governor shall proceed from the midst of
them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall
approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his
heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.
Jas 4:8-10 8 Draw nigh to God, and
he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;
and purify your hearts,
ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter
be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and
he shall lift you up.
John 8:8-9 8 And again he stooped down, and
wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their
own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at
the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left
alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
1Tim 4:1-5 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that
in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of
devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy;
having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain
from meats, which God hath created to be received
with thanksgiving of them which believe and know
the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to
be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
II. Let Us Persistence
Heb 10:23
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without
wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Rom 11:3-5
3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged
down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek
my life.
4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have
reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have
not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5 Even so then at this present time also there is a
remnant according to the election of grace.
1Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but
such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who
will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind
of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
1Thess 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also
will do it.
2Thess 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish
you, and keep you from evil.
Gal 2:17-18 17 But if, while we seek to be
justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found
sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin?
God forbid.
18 For if I build again the things which I
destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For
he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with
the wind and tossed.
Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which
thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
III. Let Us Ponder
Heb 10:24
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love
and to good works:
1Cor 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the
house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia,
and that they have addicted themselves to the
ministry of the saints,)
2Cor 9:2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for
which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that
Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath
provoked very many.
Heb 10:25-31
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as
the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so
much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the
knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice
for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery
indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under
two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he
be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son
of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant,
wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath
done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth
unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The
Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living
God.
Conclusion Heb 10:25-31
32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which,
after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of
afflictions; Persistence
33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by
reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became
companions of them that were so used.
34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took
joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves
that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring
substance. Ponder
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath
great recompence of reward. Persistence
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done
the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Preparation
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come,
and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: Preparation
but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure
in him. Persistence
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition;
but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Ponder
Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of
Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith
toward God,
Heb 6:10-11 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget
your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed
toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints,
and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same
diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
