The document discusses walking in the Spirit versus fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. It emphasizes that we must follow God's word rather than our own preferences or ideas. The Spirit leads us to love, joy, peace and self-control, while the flesh leads to sinful acts. We must say no to the flesh and follow the Spirit by abiding in Jesus through prayer, Bible study, fellowship, and communion.
2. Sanctified Walking
It was Ray Stedman, who said:
“The apostle Paul understands that he
is a servant of the Word. His job was to
proclaim God's truth. It is very easy to
forget this. We get wrapped up trying to be
creative and innovative, we dabble in
politics and pop psychology. But this is not
our calling. These things cannot save
anyone.
3. There is a tendency to make the Word
of God a servant of the teacher rather than
the teacher, a servant of the Word of
God. It is not our job to "pick and choose"
which part of the Bible we will focus on
and believe.
We must present and study the
fullness of the truth. God's Word must
dictate what we teach; not public opinion,
contemporary events, personal
preference. Scripture is not for us to use to
prove our ideas. We are here to proclaim
God's ideas!”
4. Pastor Mike who has taught here before,
says: “There is only one life style,
everything else is a death style. ”
Galatians 5:16 - 23.
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you
shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and
the Spirit against the flesh; and these
are contrary to one another, so that you
do not do the things that you wish.
5. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are
not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident,
which are: adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions,
jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
6. 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries,
and the like; of which I tell you
beforehand, just as I also told you in time
past, that those who practice such things
will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such
there is no law.
7. These verses draw the battle lines for
us; on one side is to be led by the Spirit and -
on the other side is the works of the flesh.
JUST SAY: „NO‟.
This may sound simplistic but I think
that some of us when it comes to our flesh
need to actually stand in front of a mirror
and practice saying, NO.
24 And those who are Christ‟s have
crucified the flesh with its passions
and desires.
8. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk
in the Spirit.
The idea here is that we who have
been given life by the Spirit should have
lives that line up with the Holy Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking
one another, envying one another.
9. One option:--
o A dirty, grimy, polluting -- Flesh
Factory.
~Or~
o A garden, a Fruit of the Spirit garden.
With each choice we decide where we
are going to be living.
--1st: He reveals His will to us through
the Bible.
10. So, the leading of the Spirit will always
flow in line with the already revealed word
of God.
It will not contradict the word. So,
how important is it for you today to be
learning the Word???

11. 2 Timothy 3:16
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is
useful to teach us what is true and to
make us realize what is wrong in our
lives. It corrects us when we are wrong
and teaches us to do what is right.
17 God uses it to prepare and equip his
people to do every good work.
12. “When the flesh begins to act up the
only remedy is to take the sword of the
Spirit, the word of salvation, and fight
against the flesh. If you set the Word out of
sight, you are helpless against the flesh. I
know this to be a fact. I have been assailed
by many violent passions, but as soon as I
took hold of some Scripture passage, my
temptations left me. Without the Word I
could not have helped myself against the
flesh.”
[Martin Luther]

16. Our heavenly oxygen hose. Our life
line. Our first resort and not our last.
Philippians 2:13 . . .for it is God who
works in you both to will and to do for His
good pleasure.
John 15:1-8
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the
vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear
fruit He takes away; and every branch
that bears fruit He prunes, that it may
bear more fruit.
17. 3 You are already clean because of the word
which I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides
in the vine, neither can you, unless you
abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He
who abides in Me, and I in him, bears
much fruit; for without Me you can do
nothing.
18. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast
out as a branch and is withered; and they
gather them and throw them into the fire,
and they are burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in
you, you will ask what you desire, and it
shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you
bear much fruit; so you will be My
disciples.
And I‟ll add one more, Communion, as we
are going to partake of this night.
19. I‟ll end with a quote by Charles
Spurgeon from the devotional Morning and
Evening:
Beloved Christian, in matters of grace,
you need a daily supply. You have no store
of strength. Day by day must you seek help
from above. It is a very sweet assurance
that a daily portion is provided for you in
the word, through the ministry, by
meditation, in prayer, and waiting upon
God you shall receive renewed strength.
20. In Jesus all needful things are laid up for
you. Then enjoy your continual
allowance. Never go hungry while the daily
bread of grace is on the table of mercy.”
