Psa 1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in
the coun-sel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the
path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the
scornful; {2} But his delight is in the law of the
LORD, And in His law he meditates day and
night. {3} He shall be like a tree Planted by the
rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its
season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And
whatever he does shall prosper. {4} The
ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff
which the wind drives away. {5} Therefore the
ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor
sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
{6} For the LORD knows the way of the
righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall
                     perish.
GROWING LIKE A
    TREE
I.
A TREE
GROWS
UPWARD
I. A TREE GROWS UPWARD
A. Eph 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may
   grow up in all things into Him who is the head;
   Christ;
B. Gal 5:22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
   joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
   faithfulness, {23} gentle- ness, self-control.
Against such there is no law. {24} And those
who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with
its passions and desires. {25} If we live in the
Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. {26} Let us
not become conceited, provoking one another,
   envying one another.
II.
 A TREE
 GROWS
DOWNWARD
II. A TREE GROWS DOWNWARD
A. Eph 3:17 that Christ may dwell in your
hearts through faith; that you, being rooted
   and grounded in love,
B. 1 Pet 5:9-10 Resist him, steadfast in the
faith, knowing that the same sufferings are
experienced by your brotherhood in the
world. {10} But may the God of all grace,
who called us to His eternal glory by Christ
Jesus, after you have suffered a while,
   perfect, estab-lish, strengthen, and settle
   you.
III. A TREE GROWS INWARD
III. A TREE GROWS INWARD
A. 2 Pet 3:18 but grow in the grace and
knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. To Him be the glory both now and
   forever. Amen.
B. 1 Sam 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel,
"Do not look at his appearance or at the
height of his stature, because I have
refused him. For the Lord does not see as
man sees; for man looks at the outward
appearance, but the LORD looks at the
   heart."
IV. A TREE GROWS OUTWARD
IV. A TREE GROWS OUTWARD
A. Psa 92:13-14 Those who are planted in
the house of the LORD Shall flourish in
the courts of our God. {14} They shall
still bear fruit in old age; They shall be
   fresh and flourishing,
B. Mat 5:16 "Let your light so shine
before men, that they may see your
good works and glorify your Father in
   heaven.
TREES
A. Mat 7:16-21 "You will know them by their
fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn
bushes or figs from thistles? {17} "Even
so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a
bad tree bears bad fruit. {18} "A good tree
cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree
bear good fruit. {19} "Every tree that does
not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown
into the fire. {20} "Therefore by their fruits
you will know them. {21} "Not everyone
who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter
the kingdom of heaven, but he who does
the will of My Father in heaven.
TREES
B. Comparing your life to a tree are you
