NME magazine uses a consistent color scheme of red, black, and white on its covers to be easily recognizable. The bold red logo in the top left corner draws the reader's eye. As a music magazine aimed at young people, the covers feature many images of young bands and artists. Key information like the issue date and website are printed small on the barcode, which may make them difficult for readers to find. Overall the cover design successfully promotes the magazine's content through visual elements and layout.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

LF Energy Webinar: Electrical Grid Modelling and Simulation Through PowSyBl -...DanBrown980551
Do you want to learn how to model and simulate an electrical network from scratch in under an hour?
Then welcome to this PowSyBl workshop, hosted by Rte, the French Transmission System Operator (TSO)!
During the webinar, you will discover the PowSyBl ecosystem as well as handle and study an electrical network through an interactive Python notebook.
PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.
What you will learn during the webinar:
- For beginners: discover PowSyBl's functionalities through a quick general presentation and the notebook, without needing any expert coding skills;

2. Selling line Cover Lines Masthead Main images. There are more than one Main cover line Explanatory text Bar code & dateline & website Cover lines Model Credit
3. NME is situated in the top left corner of the page and consists of the same colours as of each issue. This also makes it easy to recognize and people who want to buy this particular magazine can easily tell this is NME. There’s only three colours used on the cover which are red, black, and white and this helps the audiences recognize that this NME because these colours are used on every cover of the magazine. Even the pictures around the cover are mainly black and the background is also white which continues the colour trend. The writing is either white on a red background, white on a black background and so on. The NME logo is the boldest piece of text on the cover as there is the red writing, which is then outlined with white and then again with black. These are the three colours used throughout the rest of the cover. NME is bold so that it is one of the first things the readers eye is drawn to. From the magazine cover, I can tell that NME is aimed at a niche audience of young people as it features young bands and artists. NME uses a wider base magazine than A4 so that they can fit more information on their front page. The whole front page mirrors colours of the logo and usually, the masthead is covered to hide the “E” to represent that it is a well known magazine. The bands are presented at the bottom in bold and bright colours to represent that this is a action-packed edition.
4. The date of the issue is presented on the barcode which is not really good because it’s very small to see so many readers would find it difficult to find out the date issued. Also on the barcode is their website which is also very small as the readers won’t have any idea of where to visit if needed. This is not a main convention of a magazine however it’s a good idea. There are many images presented in this front cover which is different to only one or more artists but I think this is a good idea as it is more visually interesting for the readers as they have a better idea of which artists are included in the magazine. The mast head and cover lines are san serif fonts which make it easier and clearer for the audience to read. This cover follows direction in a V shape from the masthead down through to the main cover line and back up.
