This study evaluated the predictive accuracy of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in assessing the severity of acute pancreatitis. The study found that NLR was elevated in patients with severe acute pancreatitis compared to non-severe cases. An NLR cutoff value of 3.825 showed high sensitivity (84.6%) and negative predictive value (89.5%) in predicting severe acute pancreatitis, though the results lacked statistical significance. The study concluded that NLR can serve as a prognostic marker of severity but should not replace standard scoring systems due to the small sample size and single-center design limitations.
