Core Concepts Of Quality And Associated Academic Theory
The history of quality movement can be traced back to medieval Europe (American Society for
Quality , 2016) but fundamental quality processes and practices came into effect in the early 20th
century. In the 1920 s statistical theory began to be applied effectively to quality control and by the
1950 s quality management practices were developing rapidly in Japan s manufacturing market,
becoming fully embedded in industry in Europe and the USA by the 1980 s (Department of Trade and
Industry, n.d.). But what is quality? Although there are many re occurring themes, quality means
different things to different people and there are many variations on the academic interpretation of
quality. The subject of this assignment will be to investigate the ... Show more content on

But is a little vague, this could relate to a number of characteristics for example reliability and cost
when in relation to products, or accessibility and efficiency in relation to the services sector. The
Chartered Quality Institute believes quality is about making organisations perform for their
stakeholders from improving products, services, systems and processes, to making sure that the whole
organisation is fit and effective (Chartered Quality Institute, 2016) This definition of quality is specific
and up to date with today s requirements of the application of quality. This definition demonstrates
Feigenbaum s (1961) idea that quality is from the cradle to the grave and also addresses stakeholders.
This could be the customer of a product, or client of a service for example a patient in a hospital.
Comparatively this definition of quality is more rounded than the ISO and Dictionary definitions and
encompasses the idea of satisfying the customer and constant improvement. Constant improvement
and customer satisfaction is a common theme within the principles of many philosophers of quality.
The contribution of quality innovators have made contemporary quality what it is today by developing
and deploying new frameworks and techniques. (Rose, 2005). One of the earliest pioneers of quality
was Dr. William Edwards Deming. Deming, born in 1900, was an eminent scholar and teacher in
American academia and was considered by many to be the master of continual

An Analysis Of Patrick Cariou s Canal Zone
Copyright involves the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute the matter and
form of something (as a literary, musical, or artistic work). This enables the creator of such item to
have insurance that no one else can steal or replicate their idea. Copyright has seen some of the largest
court cases of all time where companies have sued millions due to breaches of copyright.
A French photographer, Patrick Cariou, published a book Yes, Rasta (Powerhouse) for a show at
Gagosian Galleryphotographs. The images were of a Rastafarian community in Jamaica.
In 2008 Richard Prince created Canal Zone , which were a series of art works incorporating Cariou s

In April 2013 The SDNY found that most of Prince s works were deemed to be transformative of the
original works to an observer and consequently in fair use. In particular, the Court found that the
lower court erred in requiring that the appropriating artist claim to be commenting on the original
work, and found works to be transformative if they presented a new aesthetic. The court found 25 of
Prince s works to be transformative fair use under fair use. Cariou and Prince have since settled the
case.
Defamation or Libel is a false statement or accusation that harms the reputation of an individual
person, business and much more. In regards to journalism there have been numerous cases in the UK
of a newspaper organisations publishing an article or an image that could be seen as defamatory to
those involved. This has led to numerous court cases against these media outlets due to the defamatory
nature of the publication.
For example, in 2011, Comedian Frankie Boyle, sued The Daily Mirror after describing him as racist
comedian . Boyle said the paper defamed him with an article that was published in on 19 July 2011.
Boyle claimed that the defamatory article cost him his job on the BBC panel show Mock The Week.
The Daily Mirror defended the article they published by claiming it that the racist description was
either true or honest comment on a matter of public interest

The Fourth Amendment Essay
Article VI The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against
unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon
probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched,
and the persons or things to be seized. U.S. Constitutional Amendments Preface I choose the fourth
amendment for two reasons: It recognizes a right that, inevitably, cannot be taken away from a person.
It was not written out of spite, but out of experience. I personally feel like this is an issue that, had
there not been a provision in the Constitution, would have created some serious issues with the
colonists. The Fourth Amendment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case made people think about reasoning for entering one s home. There were certain guidelines
drawn up such as murder in self defense and the allowance of a Sheriff to enter if the door is already
open). Entick v. Carrington One of the most famous cases that influenced the Fourth Amendment was
that of Entick v. Carrington. This was only one of many civil cases against officials who raided people
s homes and other places in search of materials connected with John Wilkes political pamphlets that
attack both the government and the King. Mr. Entick, who was an associate of John Wilkes, sued
because agents had entered his house forcefully and broken into desks and boxes that were locked.
They then seized pamphlets, charts, and other printed materials. The courts decided the warrant gave
the officials the right to search and seizure and the ability to issue a warrant for all a person s papers
rather than only those accused of being criminal contrary to the genius of the law of England. The
warrant was said to be invalid because it had no probable cause and no record was made of what had
been seized. The Supreme Court has said this case is a guide to understanding what the Framers meant
when writing the Fourth Amendment. Putting the Amendment to Use The reasoning for such an
amendment was obvious. What the amendment really expresses are the rights to officials and people
alike. An official

Digging
Digging Digging by Seamus Heaney is the first poem in the first full volume of Heaney s poems,
Death of a Naturalist . Death of a Naturalist is about the transition into adulthood and the loss of
innocence. The poem shows how Heaney looked up to his father and grandfather, especially their hard
work. Even though Heaney did not follow in their footsteps and become a farm laborer, he respects
the work they do, especially their skill at digging. The poem is a free verse poem. It has eight stanzas
with two couplets. It rhymes occasionally, but it does not have a patterned rhyme. The first two lines
rhyme with thumb and gun , the second stanza also has some rhyming words. The poem is a first
person narrative; this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The space between I look down and Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds (line 5 6), creates
the gap of time. Heaney continues to depict his father s work skills, and then introduces his grandma
in the 6th stanza. In the second to last stanza, the cold smell of potato mold (line 25) and the squelch
and slap (line 25) is imagery that vividly describes the digging. The last stanza says, Between my
finger and my thumb / the squat pen rests / I ll dig with it (line 29 31). That is Heaney saying he
cannot dig peat or potatoes, but he will work by digging in his memories and writing. Mid Term Break
Seamus Heaney s poem Mid Term Break is about the loss of his younger brother. Seamus comes back
from boarding school on a break, but it is not a happy one. The unexpected death of his four year old
brother occurred while he was away, and the poem takes the audience through the journey. The poem
has eight stanzas and is written with three lines per stanza, with the last stanza having only one line.
This makes the last line have even more impact on the reader. There is not a specific rhyming pattern,
but the last word in the poem rhymes with the last word in the previous stanza. This also highlights the
importance of the last line. Imagery such as Counting bells knelling classes to a close (line 2), the
corpse, stanched and bandaged (line 15), and

Ibo People Essay examples
* The Ibo people have a civilized community because they have an organized structure to their society
with rules and laws. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples actions
cannot be considered savage. The Ibo are highly religious; the base of most of their daily life revolves
around religion, whether it is how they raise their families or how they grow crops, such as yams. * In
a savage setting, the parents would usually not bother to educate their children or abandon them at a
very early age to fend for themselves. In the Ibo culture, the children learn socially complex skills,

Intro: The Ibo people have a civilized community because they have an organized structure to their
society with rules and laws. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples
actions is not uncivilized. The importance of religion and communication, showing through art and
music, shows their advanced mindset as a whole society. The Nigerian country also shows these
qualifications, despite many beliefs that African countries are uncivilized, they are civilized as well.
Family must play a large part in the civilized culture. This shows civilization by explaining how each
member in a society is watched after and taken care of. Religion also must be taken seriously, and
there must be a majority of one religion in a society, or else the culture is too diverse. This separates
them from each other, halting any possible growing as a civilization.

A Short Note On Failure And Emergency Department
Congestive heart failure (CHF) as a disease which nearly five million Americans suffer from and this
number is expected to double in prevalence by the year 2030. CHF is the most common reason for
hospitalization and emergency department (ED) visits by those 65 years and older in the United States
(American Heart Association, 2002). Horowitz, Rein, and Leventhal (2004) wanted to conduct
research on problems with self managing CHF and whether patient had the adequate tools for self
management. The title of Horowitz et al. (2004) article A story of maladies, misconceptions and

Horowitz et al. (2004) found interventions done to date did not benefit from sufficient data in which
potentially modifiable factors are responsible for suboptimal treatment, inadequate self management,
and adverse CHF outcomes. The researcher s perspective on the problem of self managing CHF came
from determining whether a patient understands and perception of CHF demonstrated the features of
the disease, which are important for participation in their own care. According to Polit and Beck
(2008), literature reviews vary in purpose and length in order to critically appraise the state of research
evidence. There are major steps which must be completed in order to properly analyze literature.
Literature review broadens the understanding of a research problem and summarizes the existing body
of knowledge related to the phenomenon of interest. Horowitz et al. (2004) reviewed different sources,
which provided a solid base for this study. The researchers utilized current studies and trials to provide
reliability and validity to their study. The researchers integrated the literature throughout the study,
highlighting clinical guidelines and current thoughts of best practice. Although the majority of
literature reviewed was pertinent and timely, there were several journal articles dating back 15 years,
which may render the information questionable to current

Social Media is used to provide information about a particular disaster and in turn receive feedback,
messages, comments and posts from users. The use of social media as an emergency weapon for
communication is increasing and readily available to post emergency information in turn receiving
assistance requests from affected people, using images uploaded to estimate the damage caused and
how to come to aid with these conditions.
But is social media actually capable of helping those affected in disasters through the Internet forum?
The use of social media during natural calamities at all levels local or international has successfully
widened and expressed interest concerning how social media very soon will be used to come in terms
with recovery of affected regions and cultural monuments because of disaster.
Taking the recent natural disaster, an earthquake with massive magnitude that affected Nepal as an
example we examine the benefits of using social media as a platform with its implication in context to
natural disasters.
Introduction:
The use of social media is not restricted by geographical boundaries; it is used to interact with anyone
in the world who is sharing the same media application (Boyd and Ellison, 2008).

OCD is a brain disorder that may be caused by incorrect information processing. The three areas in the
brain that are looked at are the Orbitofrontal cortex ,which is located in the prefrontal cortex above the

front of the corpus callosum. Kring et al., (2014 ) states, the activity in these three places increase

behavioral, environmental, and cognitive factors can trigger the disorder in an individual . It is not
known which specific gene is inherited, but if a family member has OCD, their is a chance a child can

Advantages Of Competitive Strategies
This TPA will discuss about four competitive strategies according to Porter s five forces model.
Furthermore, this TPA will also use the model to help a Malaysian business partner in order to gain
competitive advantages and to sustain those four competitive strategies. Competitive advantage is
defined as a condition where a company is in a favorable position in order for it to be more profitable
than its competitors. This can be done by selling the same goods as its competitors at a lower price or
providing goods that give a greater value, which mean a high quality product through differentiation
(Business Dictionary, 2015). Every company needs to identify its competitive advantages in order for
an organisation to be able to gain profit and to continue the business for a foreseeable future.
Information systems (IS) have played an important role in helping organisations to achieve their
objective and goals. Kroenke and Hooper (2013) suggested that, by recognizing the competitive
strategy, it can determine the structure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Childhood Obesity Epidemic, By The Encyclopedia Of Science
For the past few decades, the dire situation of obesity in America has gotten worse and is now
affecting new generations of young Americans. Every day the poor eating and physical choices that
children make can lead them to a life with diabetes, heart disease, and cancers. The unhealthy lifestyle
that children have is influenced by their parents and the society that surrounds them. This
unprecedented surge of poor lifestyle choices has lead to an epidemic that young children are now
facing. Ultimately, the health of young children is at stake. Being obese is not just being overweight,

As stated in the Encyclopedia of Science s article, obesity is affecting any child from any ethnicity or
race, age, economic backing, or region. Hispanic children, African American children, native
American children, and any other children with bad quality eating habits, especially in the south, are at
an exceptionally higher risk. The southern part of America is known for their comfort food, which is
extremely fattening, and is the reason why children living in the south have an exceptionally higher
chance of becoming obese. In the African American communities, as well as the Hispanic
communities, nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. Children who are at a lower
economic standing may have a higher chance of developing obesity, but that doesn t mean wealthier
children are immune. The site, Let s Move states that without solving this issue, 1/3 of all children
born after 2000 will suffer from diabetes at one point in their lives. Statistics from the Encyclopedia of
Life Science show that this number is still growing and is being compared to the 7% of obese children
and 5% obese teens in the 1980 s, to show the changes needed to be done in society. More action, now

The Field Of Sport Management
Comparatively, the field of sport management is a rather new academic discipline (Chalip, 2006),
which has faced some challenges in terms of justifying its prominence in the academic world.
Nonetheless, Chalip (2006) believes it was an unavoidable course for the evolution of sport
management. Mullin (1980) defined the sport manager as follows:
A person whose job entails planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling to be performed
within the context of an organisation whose primary product or service is sport, or sport related (p3).
The term management has been defined in many different ways through research as it continues to

As a result, the professional and elite levels have also grown substantially these last three or four
decades (Vanderzwaag, 1998). Areas such as recreational sporting programs, corporate sponsored
events, sporting news media and sporting goods have been established within the professional realm
of sport as well. It is evident that as the sport industry grew and evolved, it progressively took on the
business attributes of other industries (Masteralexis, Barr Hums, 2014).
Despite similar business industry characteristics, the sport industry has a unique management,
business and legal practice, unique to all other industries. Furthermore, what makes this industry so
unique is the organisational structures that are in place in order to manage, govern and organise sport.
Masteralexis et. al (2014) identified three main management structures of sport; clubs, leagues and
tournaments which are used to manage and organise sport. These management systems encompass a
range of amateur and professional organisations that may apply variations to these structures for the
purpose of producing a sporting event.
For instance, American college sports such as basketball, baseball, track and field, are structured under
the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as an amateur governing body, but are televised

The Controversy Of Human Cloning
Human Cloning
The controversy of human cloning has contemplated the reasons it should or shouldn t be allowed.
Human cloning is the reproduction of human cells and tissue by creating a genetical copy artificially.
Clones contain original characteristics of the individual or cell. There are many dangerous risks and
great benefits to human cloning. Many people have an extraordinary reaction to cloning because it
creates all sorts of images. Cloning is a medical breakthrough that can help millions of people if it is
scientifically proven to be 100% safe. Is science really ready to officially clone a human?

The moral code for religious people stands at cloning being unacceptable. Various religious followers
believe that science is playing God . This also corresponds with laws of the United States as well as
other countries. Laws have outlawed cloning in general or have research monitored, the issue was first
addressed by California legislature, which banned reproductive cloning, or cloning to initiate a
pregnancy, in 1997. Since then Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, Rhode Island, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Virginia have enacted
measures to prohibit reproductive cloning, (NCLS 1).
What are the benefits of human cloning? Even though genetically copying something has its
negatives, there are upswings. For example, cloning can help infertile couples get children of their
own. It also can help patients that are injured.
My believe stands on the fact that human cloning is wrong. With the low success rate it has, I do not
think that cloning is reasonable. Most of cloning has taken place with animals which cannot take the
place of a human being. There is a large room for error. What if the experiment goes wrong, then
what? That person could either be at risk for death or other

Persuasive Essay On Guns In Schools
Since 2013, there have been 306 school shootings in America. That is an average of one shooting per
week. The mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, located in Parkland, FL was
committed by nineteen year old, Nikolas Cruz. He was armed with an AR 15 and open fired in the
school, killing seventeen people and wounding several others. This is the deadliest school shooting
since the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. It s extremely
unfortunate to know that children are also victims of America s gun violence crisis, even while
attending school. It is even more unfortunate and frustrating to know that the National Rifle
Association (NRA) use school shootings like Parkland to encourage policies that allow guns in
schools. According to Everytownresearch, there is no evidence to validate the increased safety of

as fair for those who strive for success. Consider this, many people start at working minimum wage
which is about nine dollar an hour. For one waitress addressed in a PBS news article by Paul Solman,
that one waitress only earned $2.13 an hour before taxes. It is stated by many who are struggling with
minimum wage that it is not enough to live on. As the cost of living increases, the minimum wage
becomes insufficient in covering bills and cost. As a result of this situation, there are inspiring students
who are unable to go further with their education and move up in life. Being stuck near the poverty
line creates a situation where as much as those workers desire to progress in their career, insufficient
funds and the lack of education keeps them from doing so as many higher paying jobs require

Marcus Aurelius Meditations
The book Meditations wasn t ever really intended for publication; this is due to the fact that this book
is personal writings from Marcus Aurelius himself. Its his own memories and events of his life that he
went through. In book one of Meditations, Aurelius is giving thanks to those who helped him the
most. He thanks his grandfather for teaching him to be modest, for establishing good morals in him,
and teaching him how to control his temper. His father who taught him how to be modest and helped
him become the man he is. His mother taught him how to be generous, and to not be content with
keeping all his wealth to himself, and to give to others. He was taught that simplicity is okay, that
there is no need to piety others. Aurelius teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You should always do good without expecting some sort of gratitude in return. You should be satisfied
with the though of being a good human being, instead of expecting a payment in return for your good
deed. Book six goes to explain how it is important to always think about the good, its essential to
control your mind and thoughts, if you can do this you can control in which way your life will go.
Book seven is about patience and how you must have tolerance. People will always try and bring you
down no matter what you do, good or bad. The only way you can remain happy during these times, is
to remain true to yourself. How you react to these situations and negativity being put upon you, is up
to you and that will determine your happiness. Book eight goes hand in hand with book seven. It
explains how you will encounter a lot in life but if you separate yourself from others, you will only
end up hurting yourself more than if you actually try and interact with the situation. Books nine
through twelve kind of tie together the entire reading. We should be sincere and honest, because that s
the only way to be good and content with ourselves. It questions why we are the way we are as human
beings, and what makes us

Joseph Pilates Research Paper
Although today in the 21st century many individuals believe the exercise Pilates (formally known as
Contrology ) is for women, it was not at first, and was created by a man named Joseph Pilates. Born
on December 9th, he was a small sick child who suffered from asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever,
and was persistently tormented by bigger children. His idea of the exercise was molded by the
inspiration his parent s passed on to him about therapeutic exercise; his father was a prize winning
gymnast, and his mother a naturopath who believed that body stimulation to heal itself had to be done
without drugs. In this paper, you will see what Joseph Pilates created, what it has become today, as
well as my thoughts on what Pilates is. Comparatively, Pilates began to educate himself in anatomy,
wrestling, martial arts, yoga, and gymnastics (just to name a few). At first, he used Pilates in his career
as a circus entertainer, and later believed that the modern lifestyle of bad posture, and ineffective
breathing (which is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several students of Joseph s, as well as his wife s later went on and shared the teachings they were
taught to others. Now, not only did soldiers know the techniques, but so did dancers, models, actors,
famous athletes, business professionals, as well as housewives. Many Pilates studios are found all over
the world; in health sections, racks of DVDs are found in bookstores with instructions on the method
also. From what I have learned so far of the exercise what Pilates means to me is one s ability to being
able to get workout results wanted from the precision, focus, and effort that is put into the workout
without the quantity of how many reps one can achieve being the goal. Pilates also helps the mind stay
at ease from whatever frustrations someone may be

Dome Of Rock
The Dome of the Rock is among the largest Islamic shrines that are located in Jerusalem. Built almost
thirteen centuries ago, this shrine remains one of the most gorgeous and treasured architectural
buildings in the world. It is adorned with a splendid gold dome and an elaborate inscription that
represents the Islamic religion. This shrine is built on a sacred rock that was considered to be holy
before Islam started. To the Jewish, this rock was the very spot where Abraham was meant to sacrifice
Isaac, his son. Besides, the shrine is believed to stand at the spot of the Holy of Hollies of Herod s
Temple and Solomon s Temple (Grabar 59). According to Balfour (117) the shrine was constructed
between 688 and 691 by Umayyad caliph Abd al Malik. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on top of a building that is covered outside and inside using Arabic calligraphy and colored mosaic.
This building has eight arched entrances and staircase that are connected to the temple on the lower

The History of Track and Field Essay
Track and Field events, also known as athletics, have progressed a great deal since their birth in
Olympus, around the ninth century B.C. More athletes and more nationalities compete in Track and
Field than in any other Olympic sport. Athletics is one of the largest attractions at the Modern
Olympics, drawing in huge crowds of spectators and creating interest at summer Olympics. Track and
Field events have come a long way since the Ancient Greek Olympic games. Many events and
techniques have been revised, added, or eliminated since the original Greek Olympics. The Olympic
motto, Citius, Altius, Fortius is describing the Track and Field events in Latin. The Latin means Faster
(Swifter), Higher, Stronger, and indicates the running, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the data, which is available from that period, it has been shown that the number of footraces was no
more than six or seven per Olympic Games. This has changed greatly in the modern Olympics. The
winner of these Ancient Olympic races would be rewarded with an olive branch crown. Another type
of footrace, called the hoplite, was introduced rather late in the history of the Ancient Olympics. The
race was of about two stades undertaken while wearing battle armor composed of round shields and
plumed helmets. Racing over hurdles was not at all part of the Greeks knowledge during the Ancient
Olympics. It was established later in the modern Olympic trials.
Another Track and Field event is the long jump. This event differed very greatly from the jumping we
see today. The jumpers would have a running start and be holding weights in their hands for
momentum purposes. The use of the weights, which were swung about during the run and jump,
caused the jumper to have a much larger distance than the athletes of the modern Olympics. In fact,
the ancient jumping events are highly controversial because of the ludicrous records found about the
distance of the jumps in ancient Greece. One record states that a contestant jumped 55 feet. The
modern record for the running long jump is near 30 feet and it seems to many track and field experts
that it would be quite impossible for anyone to jump 55 feet, even with the help of an impetus. Some

Targeted population, creator and history of assessment
Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) test which is a third personality test created by Hans
Eysenck and Sybil Eysenck at 1975 (Fiest Fiest, 2008). Hans Eysenck (1916 1997) was born in
Germany on March 4, 1916. Due to the persecution of jews he fled to England at the age of 18 and
here he became a famous psychiatrist. The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire built on the basic and
successive improvement of Maudsley Personality Inventory and Eysenck Personality Inventory which
included extraversion (E) scale, nuerocitism (N) scale, and psychoticism (p) scale. The EPQ is a self
reported questionnaire. Basically, EPQ can use to test every people because it possess adult and junior

Viva La Vida Coldplay Analysis
Throughout history, there have been countless accounts of empires and kingdoms that have fallen due
to power and corruption. Kings and rulers, who were once able to break all laws without any
consequences, became shadows of their former selves and were forced to be remembered as failures.
The song Viva la Vida by Coldplay shows first hand account of a king, Louis XVI, the last monarch of
France, who had fallen prey to the destruction that power can bring. Listeners get a memoir of this
king who went from being a the pillar of society to a man whose legacy was tarnished by corruption.
Absolute power is able to corrupt even the noblest of hearts and, through the use of metaphor,
Coldplay has shown the regression of a king who s was thought to have everything a man wants. The
narrator is a wealthy king who is used to ruling over others. In the first line of the song Being apart of
the monarch, he was born into a life of luxury, never wanting for anything. In the line One minute I
held the key we see that he once was able to walk with his head held high, holding all the power to do
with as he wished. He was the king and, besides God, there was no one above him. By the line Next
the walls were closed on me the narrator shows lines show exactly how far from grace ... Show more

Homelessness Problem
Homelessness has seen an increase in Portland even with the 10 year plan to end chronic
homelessness being enacted, falling behind the country as a whole in the quest to get the poor and
vulnerable indoors. Currently, the nation is nearing its ten year plan to end chronic homelessness,
which has resulted in little to no progress. This is quite concerning because a homeless person on the
street will cost the city more per year than if the city invested more in guiding the homeless into stable
housing. Experts say the main way to end homelessness in Portland is to create much more affordable
housing, help train the homeless to be self sufficient, and creating a social safety net to prevent people
from falling into homelessness in the first place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of people who live on the streets disabled, vulnerable, or inexperienced has been steadily
rising in Portland. Along with the fact that there is little affordable housing for those who do manage
to find a job, it is nearly impossible for someone to find their way back into a stable life. While there
are many problems with homelessness, there are solutions to not only get the homeless out of the
streets and into housing, but to also help the homeless acquire career related skills, and prevent people
from falling into homelessness in the first place. Until we have permanent solutions to homelessness
places like CIty Team Ministries will alleviate the issues that the homeless face everyday, but even the
combined efforts of all shelters is not enough to stop homelessness. In the country s present state,
almost anyone can go from living comfortably, to sleeping on the streets very quickly. Solving
homelessness won t just help those who need it now, but it will also holp those who may need it in the
future. So next time you see a homeless person on the streets, just imagine that it could happen not
only to you, but to your friends and family as

Relationship Between Nurses Perceptions Of Empowerment...
The article that is being critiqued is titled, The Relationship between Nurses perceptions of
empowerment and patient satisfaction and is an article that looks at the correlation between nurse
empowerment and patient satisfaction (Donahue, 2008). This research looks at the relationship
between the levels of nurse empowerment and the level of patient satisfaction in the nurse s care. This
research is valuable to the field of nursing because the possible correlation between nursing
empowerment and patient satisfaction, directly affects the way nursing is practiced and the way nurses
are evaluated. This is important in the field of nursing because this deals specifically with the work
efficiency of nurses and in turn, directly affects the quality of healthcare a patient could possibly
receive. I believe this study has value because it establishes the groundwork of correlating the
emotional and mental status of a nurse and the quality of care being delivered to the patient. This
article also made a point of stating, within the background and significance section, that this is the first
study that is looking at the possible correlation of nurse empowerment and patient satisfaction
(Donahue, 2008). One of the strengths of this article is the breakdown of the term nurse empowerment
and the components that make the sum of the term, especially through the use of previous studies such
as Kanter s theory. The next aspect of the article we will dissect is the background and

The Secret Life Of David Case Study
Throughout his lifetime, David has been through his fair share of problems. Even before he was out of
his mother s womb, there was always some kind of complication. While David s mother was pregnant,
she had some DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) tests run to determine if he would have any genetic
problems after he was born. His mother, Karen, and father, John, went into this test confident there
would be nothing wrong because they were to healthy adults with no genetic diseases or disorders.
The first thing the doctor did was run tests on the two of them to make sure they were telling the truth
about being healthy. When the test came back, the doctor found that both of them were carriers for the
gene which causes sickle cell disease. The doctor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was due to the trial and error his mother and father had because they knew so little about the
disease. For instance, they did not know water below or above a certain temperature would cause an

David still found time to play the other kids at school as well as in the neighborhood. David enjoyed
playing with bigger groups of kids; nevertheless, he managed to find a best friend, James who was a
couple years older than David. Because James, was older he grasped concepts before David such as
conservation and the rearrangement of object. These were all difficult concepts for David to
understand at first because Piaget states this is due to the lack of attention span a young child has.
After David grasped the concept and the rationale behind them, he looked slightly smarter than his
friends when their parents asked the same group of questions. James also began teaching David how
to catch a football, shoot a basketball, throw a baseball, and kick a soccer ball. Depending on the
season, John took David outside where they threw the baseball or played basketball as father and son,

Religious Literature Can Be Similar Through The Ages
Religious literature can be similar through the ages, because the values of men have not changed.
Humans have always strove to dominate their surroundings and attain knowledge and enlightenment.
Since before the beginning of the written word in Sumerian texts to the present day, man has told
stories of heroes who have gained recognition through their exploits. These stories always have a
underlying story of enlightenment and self realization, where the hero learns through his journey about
himself and how to better lead his people. Although these lessons are not easily learned, they are
necessary lessons for the heroes to help them become better men. Looking at the stories of The
Exploits of Ninurta and The Hymn of the Pearl, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because man has always sought to achieve not only greatness through deeds, and respect through their
benevolence, it cannot be achieved without parental guidance. These two writings tell that story
although they were not written at the same time or in the same place. In the stories of Ninutra and The
Pearl, both of the heroes are children of privilege. Ninutra is referred to as a King in the first line of
the epic, O King, storm of majestic splendor, peerless Ninurta and the young man in The Hymn of the
Pearl is described in the beginning as When I was a child, and dwelling in my kingdom, in my father s
house and content with the wealth and the luxuries of my nourishers, Also, both of the heroes are
guided by their parents, and this is evident in the Sumerian writing on Ninurta when Ninurta s father
Enlil tells him to wait to for a storm so that he can defeat his enemy, I shall cause horrid storms to rise
against . Also in The Hymn of the Pearl, the hero is sent a letter from his parents to remind him of his
purpose, I remembered that I was the son of royal parents, and my noble birth asserted itself. Both
heroes completed their quests and returned home champions of their respective causes. These
similarities are important because through the ages respect for parental guidance plays an important
part in societies, and this lesson is one which needs to continue to be learned and

Employment Decision Of Will Roberts
Employment Decision of Will Roberts When a person is in the military, they have to make some very
important decisions as they rise in the ranks. Often it is hard to get management to agree with you, due
to the fact that some managers want all the glory. Through an open door policy program, bargaining,
and negotiations a mission can be accomplished more successfully.
Employment Decision Choice Fort Sill, Oklahoma sends out around 2,000 basic training Soldiers on a
two week vacation during the Christmas and New Year s Holiday. It is the job of the Fort Sill
Emergency Operations Center to assist in the logistics and tracking of all these Soldiers from the base
to the bus station or airport. Every two hours after this mission begins, it is a requirement to send out a
PowerPoint presentation on the location numbers of each Soldier.
This is difficult if you do not know exactly what the Colonel wants to send to the Commanding
General of the base. The Colonel had an open door policy, but as a courtesy a person needs to talk to
his direct supervisor first. We changed the slides so often during the departure of the Soldiers that my
fellow coworkers got frustrated. One of the main reasons because lack of information and correct
communication information between us, the Colonel, and the organizational representatives (both at
the base, on the buses, and at the airport). These representatives were supposed to call us after a bus
left the base, arrived at the bus station or airport,

Compare And Contrast The Great Gatsby And The King s Speech
I have had the privilege to study two compelling masterpieces this year. The enthralling novel The
Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald and the exceptional visual sensation that is The King s Speech .
The cultural context alludes what aspects are relevant to the society of that world and their daily lives.
I was very intrigued when comparing both of these texts.
While the texts presents very different worlds there are some striking similarities. Ultimately each text
creates its own unique universe which impacts the protagonist in a variety of ways.
Setting
The king s Speech is set in England during the time period of 1925 1939. This was a very tense period
since England was still recovering from The Great War and was leading to the Wall ... Show more

In The King s Speech The main protagonists are either members of the English Royal family or a
family man from the colonies in middle class. A moment of class snobbery was availed in the film
when Bertie and Elizabeth went to Balmoral castle to attend one of David and Wallace s extravagant
parties. This itself was a red flag to the Duke and Duchess since the royal family doesn t throw such
informal and decadent parties since they too respected and classy for events like that. Elizabeth s short
wit and tempered and vivid when Wallis greets them informally and acted as if everything was hers.
This was evident in the mise en scene showing her close up with the expensive chandelier overhead.
Elizabeth rudely brushed her off then stated I was invited on behalf of the king . Afterwards her and
Churchill discussed how a commoner like her couldn t marry David. This proves the class snobbery
that is present in The King s Speech
In The Great Gatsby we also see this exact same class consciousness at myrtle and Tom s apartment.
This is evident when Lucille stated I almost made mistake too. I almost married a little kike who d
been after me for years. I know he was below me. Everyone kept saying; Lucille, that man s below
you! but if i hadn t met Chester he d gotten me for

  • 2. Core Concepts Of Quality And Associated Academic Theory The history of quality movement can be traced back to medieval Europe (American Society for Quality , 2016) but fundamental quality processes and practices came into effect in the early 20th century. In the 1920 s statistical theory began to be applied effectively to quality control and by the 1950 s quality management practices were developing rapidly in Japan s manufacturing market, becoming fully embedded in industry in Europe and the USA by the 1980 s (Department of Trade and Industry, n.d.). But what is quality? Although there are many re occurring themes, quality means different things to different people and there are many variations on the academic interpretation of quality. The subject of this assignment will be to investigate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But is a little vague, this could relate to a number of characteristics for example reliability and cost when in relation to products, or accessibility and efficiency in relation to the services sector. The Chartered Quality Institute believes quality is about making organisations perform for their stakeholders from improving products, services, systems and processes, to making sure that the whole organisation is fit and effective (Chartered Quality Institute, 2016) This definition of quality is specific and up to date with today s requirements of the application of quality. This definition demonstrates Feigenbaum s (1961) idea that quality is from the cradle to the grave and also addresses stakeholders. This could be the customer of a product, or client of a service for example a patient in a hospital. Comparatively this definition of quality is more rounded than the ISO and Dictionary definitions and encompasses the idea of satisfying the customer and constant improvement. Constant improvement and customer satisfaction is a common theme within the principles of many philosophers of quality. The contribution of quality innovators have made contemporary quality what it is today by developing and deploying new frameworks and techniques. (Rose, 2005). One of the earliest pioneers of quality was Dr. William Edwards Deming. Deming, born in 1900, was an eminent scholar and teacher in American academia and was considered by many to be the master of continual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analysis Of Patrick Cariou s Canal Zone Copyright involves the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute the matter and form of something (as a literary, musical, or artistic work). This enables the creator of such item to have insurance that no one else can steal or replicate their idea. Copyright has seen some of the largest court cases of all time where companies have sued millions due to breaches of copyright. A French photographer, Patrick Cariou, published a book Yes, Rasta (Powerhouse) for a show at Gagosian Galleryphotographs. The images were of a Rastafarian community in Jamaica. In particular, the Court found that the lower court erred in requiring that the appropriating artist claim to be commenting on the original work, and found works to be transformative if they presented a new aesthetic. The court found 25 of Prince s works to be transformative fair use under fair use. Cariou and Prince have since settled the case. Defamation or Libel is a false statement or accusation that harms the reputation of an individual person, business and much more. In regards to journalism there have been numerous cases in the UK of a newspaper organisations publishing an article or an image that could be seen as defamatory to those involved. This has led to numerous court cases against these media outlets due to the defamatory nature of the publication. For example, in 2011, Comedian Frankie Boyle, sued The Daily Mirror after describing him as racist comedian . Boyle said the paper defamed him with an article that was published in on 19 July 2011. • 4. The Fourth Amendment Essay Article VI The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. U.S. Constitutional Amendments Preface I choose the fourth amendment for two reasons: It recognizes a right that, inevitably, cannot be taken away from a person. It was not written out of spite, but out of experience. I personally feel like this is an issue that, had there not been a provision in the Constitution, would have created some serious issues with the colonists. The Fourth Amendment ... There were certain guidelines drawn up such as murder in self defense and the allowance of a Sheriff to enter if the door is already open). Entick v. Carrington One of the most famous cases that influenced the Fourth Amendment was that of Entick v. Carrington. This was only one of many civil cases against officials who raided people s homes and other places in search of materials connected with John Wilkes political pamphlets that attack both the government and the King. Mr. Entick, who was an associate of John Wilkes, sued because agents had entered his house forcefully and broken into desks and boxes that were locked. They then seized pamphlets, charts, and other printed materials. The courts decided the warrant gave the officials the right to search and seizure and the ability to issue a warrant for all a person s papers rather than only those accused of being criminal contrary to the genius of the law of England. The warrant was said to be invalid because it had no probable cause and no record was made of what had been seized. The Supreme Court has said this case is a guide to understanding what the Framers meant when writing the Fourth Amendment. Putting the Amendment to Use The reasoning for such an amendment was obvious. What the amendment really expresses are the rights to officials and people alike. An official ... • 5. Digging Digging Digging by Seamus Heaney is the first poem in the first full volume of Heaney s poems, Death of a Naturalist . Death of a Naturalist is about the transition into adulthood and the loss of innocence. The poem shows how Heaney looked up to his father and grandfather, especially their hard work. Even though Heaney did not follow in their footsteps and become a farm laborer, he respects the work they do, especially their skill at digging. The poem is a free verse poem. It has eight stanzas with two couplets. It rhymes occasionally, but it does not have a patterned rhyme. The first two lines rhyme with thumb and gun , the second stanza also has some rhyming words. The space between I look down and Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds (line 5 6), creates the gap of time. Heaney continues to depict his father s work skills, and then introduces his grandma in the 6th stanza. In the second to last stanza, the cold smell of potato mold (line 25) and the squelch and slap (line 25) is imagery that vividly describes the digging. The last stanza says, Between my finger and my thumb / the squat pen rests / I ll dig with it (line 29 31). That is Heaney saying he cannot dig peat or potatoes, but he will work by digging in his memories and writing. Mid Term Break Seamus Heaney s poem Mid Term Break is about the loss of his younger brother. Seamus comes back from boarding school on a break, but it is not a happy one. The unexpected death of his four year old brother occurred while he was away, and the poem takes the audience through the journey. The poem has eight stanzas and is written with three lines per stanza, with the last stanza having only one line. This makes the last line have even more impact on the reader. There is not a specific rhyming pattern, but the last word in the poem rhymes with the last word in the previous stanza. This also highlights the importance of the last line. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples actions is not uncivilized. The importance of religion and communication, showing through art and music, shows their advanced mindset as a whole society. The Nigerian country also shows these qualifications, despite many beliefs that African countries are uncivilized, they are civilized as well. Family must play a large part in the civilized culture. This shows civilization by explaining how each member in a society is watched after and taken care of. Religion also must be taken seriously, and there must be a majority of one religion in a society, or else the culture is too diverse. This separates them from each other, halting any possible growing as a civilization. There are major steps which must be completed in order to properly analyze literature. Literature review broadens the understanding of a research problem and summarizes the existing body of knowledge related to the phenomenon of interest. Horowitz et al. (2004) reviewed different sources, which provided a solid base for this study. The researchers utilized current studies and trials to provide reliability and validity to their study. However what is one supposed to do when there s a roadblock that is difficult to overcome? There are factors that may all together or by one at a time cause someone to not achieve that pay that wish. Due to education and wealth, discrimination, worker abilities and monopoly power, the opportunities of equal pay isn t always obtainable to workers. First factor of income quality, not every citizen has the best education they can get for that high paying job, and not many has the funds to get that job they really desire. • 32. Religious Literature Can Be Similar Through The Ages Religious literature can be similar through the ages, because the values of men have not changed. Humans have always strove to dominate their surroundings and attain knowledge and enlightenment. Since before the beginning of the written word in Sumerian texts to the present day, man has told stories of heroes who have gained recognition through their exploits. These stories always have a underlying story of enlightenment and self realization, where the hero learns through his journey about himself and how to better lead his people. Although these lessons are not easily learned, they are necessary lessons for the heroes to help them become better men. Looking at the stories of The Exploits of Ninurta and The Hymn of the Pearl, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because man has always sought to achieve not only greatness through deeds, and respect through their benevolence, it cannot be achieved without parental guidance. These two writings tell that story although they were not written at the same time or in the same place. In the stories of Ninutra and The Pearl, both of the heroes are children of privilege. Ninutra is referred to as a King in the first line of the epic, O King, storm of majestic splendor, peerless Ninurta and the young man in The Hymn of the Pearl is described in the beginning as When I was a child, and dwelling in my kingdom, in my father s house and content with the wealth and the luxuries of my nourishers, Also, both of the heroes are guided by their parents, and this is evident in the Sumerian writing on Ninurta when Ninurta s father Enlil tells him to wait to for a storm so that he can defeat his enemy, I shall cause horrid storms to rise against . Also in The Hymn of the Pearl, the hero is sent a letter from his parents to remind him of his purpose, I remembered that I was the son of royal parents, and my noble birth asserted itself. Both heroes completed their quests and returned home champions of their respective causes. These similarities are important because through the ages respect for parental guidance plays an important part in societies, and this lesson is one which needs to continue to be learned and ... • 34. Employment Decision Of Will Roberts Employment Decision of Will Roberts When a person is in the military, they have to make some very important decisions as they rise in the ranks. Often it is hard to get management to agree with you, due to the fact that some managers want all the glory. Through an open door policy program, bargaining, and negotiations a mission can be accomplished more successfully. Employment Decision Choice Fort Sill, Oklahoma sends out around 2,000 basic training Soldiers on a two week vacation during the Christmas and New Year s Holiday. It is the job of the Fort Sill Emergency Operations Center to assist in the logistics and tracking of all these Soldiers from the base to the bus station or airport. Every two hours after this mission begins, it is a requirement to send out a PowerPoint presentation on the location numbers of each Soldier. This is difficult if you do not know exactly what the Colonel wants to send to the Commanding General of the base. The Colonel had an open door policy, but as a courtesy a person needs to talk to his direct supervisor first. We changed the slides so often during the departure of the Soldiers that my fellow coworkers got frustrated. One of the main reasons because lack of information and correct communication information between us, the Colonel, and the organizational representatives (both at the base, on the buses, and at the airport). These representatives were supposed to call us after a bus left the base, arrived at the bus station or airport, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Compare And Contrast The Great Gatsby And The King s Speech I have had the privilege to study two compelling masterpieces this year. The enthralling novel The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald and the exceptional visual sensation that is The King s Speech . The cultural context alludes what aspects are relevant to the society of that world and their daily lives. I was very intrigued when comparing both of these texts. While the texts presents very different worlds there are some striking similarities. Ultimately each text creates its own unique universe which impacts the protagonist in a variety of ways. Setting The king s Speech is set in England during the time period of 1925 1939. This was a very tense period since England was still recovering from The Great War and was leading to the Wall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The King s Speech The main protagonists are either members of the English Royal family or a family man from the colonies in middle class. A moment of class snobbery was availed in the film when Bertie and Elizabeth went to Balmoral castle to attend one of David and Wallace s extravagant parties. This itself was a red flag to the Duke and Duchess since the royal family doesn t throw such informal and decadent parties since they too respected and classy for events like that. Elizabeth s short wit and tempered and vivid when Wallis greets them informally and acted as if everything was hers. This was evident in the mise en scene showing her close up with the expensive chandelier overhead. Elizabeth rudely brushed her off then stated I was invited on behalf of the king . Afterwards her and Churchill discussed how a commoner like her couldn t marry David. This proves the class snobbery that is present in The King s Speech In The Great Gatsby we also see this exact same class consciousness at myrtle and Tom s apartment. This is evident when Lucille stated I almost made mistake too. I almost married a little kike who d been after me for years. I know he was below me. Everyone kept saying; Lucille, that man s below you! but if i hadn t met Chester he d gotten me for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
