what is RFID
 Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic
identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving
data using devices called RFID tags or transponders.
 RFID (radio frequency identification) is a technology that
incorporates the use of electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling
in the radio frequency (RF) portion of the electromagnetic
spectrum to uniquely identify an object, animal, or person.
 An alternative to bar code
introduction
 The main functionality of this project is to verify the identity /
attendance of the user who needs to access it through RFID.
 For this purpose the authorized person is given an RFID card.
 This card contains an integrated circuit that is used for storing,
processing information through modulating and demodulating of
the radio frequency signal that is being transmitted.
 Thus, the data stored in this card is referred as the
identification/attendance of the person.

Step down transformer Bridge rectifier Filter Regulator

The 230V AC supply is first stepped down to 12V AC using a step
down transformer.
This is then converted to DC using bridge rectifier.
The AC ripples is filtered out by using a capacitor and given to the
input pin of voltage regulator 7805.
At output pin of this regulator we get a constant 5V DC which is used
for MC and other ICs in this project.

 Full Duplex UART Serial Channel
Pin description
LCD-liquid crystal display
 Most common LCDs connected to the microcontrollers are 16x2 and
20x2 displays.
 This means 16 characters per line by 2 lines and 20 characters per line
by 2 lines, respectively.
 The standard is referred to as HD44780U, which refers to the controller
chip which receives data from an external source (and communicates
directly with the LCD).
Working
 RFID card is detected by the reader module if it in the range of 10
cm.
 After reading the card it checks the database
 After checking database it decides that card is duplicate or not.
 According to database it controller increases the count for that specific
lecture and store it in database
Features of RFID based Attendance system
 Capability to store maximum records in real time
 Auto attendance of students as soon as student enters school premise /
class.
 Tracking, monitoring, and identification of students in school premise
and in GPRS-enabled school buses in real time.
 Storage of complete attendance data
 RFID – Radio Frequency Identification
 The reader coil generates an electromagnetic field, which couples
into the coil on the RFID tag (“transponder”).
 The field generates a current in the transponder, which powers it, and
also contains the transmitted data.
Advantages
RFID attendance system is secured, but there is a chance of misusing
the cards. One person can give another person’s attendance if he/she
had RFID card.
If the card was swiped for more than once, there is a chance of giving
attendance for next days also if code is not written properly.
Limitation
 RFID based attendance system can be used in educational
institutions, industries, anywhere.
 RFID is emerging technology and is used in applications where
authentication is needed.
Application
 Range of the RFID reader can be increased, so the reader can detect
the tag from far distance.
 RF TRANSRECEIVER module can be used for long distance
communication to transfer data.
 The transferred data can be save and store in computer as a database
using specific software.
 This attendance system’s data base can be linked with college
website and can be shared and monitored by the student’s parents.

  • 3. what is RFID  Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders.  RFID (radio frequency identification) is a technology that incorporates the use of electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency (RF) portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify an object, animal, or person.  An alternative to bar code
  • 4. introduction  The main functionality of this project is to verify the identity / attendance of the user who needs to access it through RFID.  For this purpose the authorized person is given an RFID card.  This card contains an integrated circuit that is used for storing, processing information through modulating and demodulating of the radio frequency signal that is being transmitted.  Thus, the data stored in this card is referred as the identification/attendance of the person.

Contd.. The 230V AC supply is first stepped down to 12V AC using a step down transformer. This is then converted to DC using bridge rectifier. The AC ripples is filtered out by using a capacitor and given to the input pin of voltage regulator 7805. At output pin of this regulator we get a constant 5V DC which is used for MC and other ICs in this project.

LCD-liquid crystal display  Most common LCDs connected to the microcontrollers are 16x2 and 20x2 displays.  This means 16 characters per line by 2 lines and 20 characters per line by 2 lines, respectively.  The standard is referred to as HD44780U, which refers to the controller chip which receives data from an external source (and communicates directly with the LCD).

Working  RFID card is detected by the reader module if it in the range of 10 cm.  After reading the card it checks the database  After checking database it decides that card is duplicate or not.  According to database it controller increases the count for that specific lecture and store it in database

  • 17. RFID attendance system is secured, but there is a chance of misusing the cards. One person can give another person’s attendance if he/she had RFID card. If the card was swiped for more than once, there is a chance of giving attendance for next days also if code is not written properly.   • 18.  RFID based attendance system can be used in educational institutions, industries, anywhere.  RFID is emerging technology and is used in applications where authentication is needed. Application
  • 19.  Range of the RFID reader can be increased, so the reader can detect the tag from far distance.  RF TRANSRECEIVER module can be used for long distance communication to transfer data.  The transferred data can be save and store in computer as a database using specific software.  This attendance system’s data base can be linked with college website and can be shared and monitored by the student’s parents.
