The document discusses next generation business analytics technologies and techniques. It describes how business analytics goes beyond traditional business intelligence by allowing for more ad-hoc analysis of data to gain new insights. Current business intelligence tools have limitations in terms of data quantity, flexibility, and ease of use. Next generation business analytics vendors are addressing these challenges with cloud-based tools that provide massive data storage and processing capabilities, as well as user-friendly interfaces for interactive data exploration. These new tools complement and enhance existing business intelligence environments.

The first step towards understanding data assets’ impact on your organization is understanding what those assets mean for each other. Metadata — literally, data about data — is a practice area required by good systems development, and yet is also perhaps the most mislabeled and misunderstood Data Management practice. Understanding metadata and its associated technologies as more than just straightforward technological tools can provide powerful insight into the efficiency of organizational practices, and enable you to combine practices into sophisticated techniques, supporting larger and more complex business initiatives. Program learning objectives include:
* Understanding how to leverage metadata practices in support of business strategy
* Discuss foundational metadata concepts
* Guiding principles for and lessons previously learned from metadata and its practical uses applied strategy
* Understanding how to leverage metadata practices in support of business strategy
* Metadata strategies, including:
* Metadata is a gerund so don’t try to treat it as a noun
* Metadata is the language of Data Governance
* Treat glossaries/repositories as capabilities, not technology
Your take-away from the IT Service Management (ITSM) presentation are:
• A clear understanding of PM practices used in the implementation of ITSM
• Planning tips to successfully deliver an ITSM process improvement project
• Marketing ideas to socialize the message to the organization
• Testing techniques to achieve organic improvements along the way
• Ways to achieve buy-in from stakeholders

- Where are most of failing?
and most importantly, "How to connect the dots and move from Data to Strategy?"
I work with all facets of Web Analytics and Business Strategy and see the structures and governance models of various domains to establish and analyze the key performance indicators that allow you to have a 360º overview of online and offline multi-channel environment.

Webinar: Decoding the Mystery - How to Know if You Need a Data Catalog, a Dat...DATAVERSITY
There’s a lot of confusion out there about the differences between a data catalog, a data dictionary and a business glossary, and it's not always easy to understand who needs which and why. Join Malcolm Chisholm, Ph.D., President of Data Millennium, and Amichai Fenner, Product Lead at Octopai, as they help decode the mystery. Spoiler alert: one of these enables collaboration across BI and IT, which is it?
Data Architecture is foundational to an information-based operational environment. Without proper structure and efficiency in organization, data assets cannot be utilized to their full potential, which in turn harms bottom-line business value. When designed well and used effectively, however, a strong Data Architecture can be referenced to inform, clarify, understand, and resolve aspects of a variety of business problems commonly encountered in organizations.
The goal of this webinar is not to instruct you in being an outright Data Architect, but rather to enable you to envision a number of uses for Data Architectures that will maximize your organization’s competitive advantage. With that being said, we will:
Discuss Data Architecture’s guiding principles and best practices
Demonstrate how to utilize Data Architecture to address a broad variety of organizational challenges and support your overall business strategy
Illustrate how best to understand foundational Data Architecture concepts based on “The DAMA Guide to the Data Management Body of Knowledge” (DAMA DMBOK)
Predictive Analytics: Context and Use Cases
Historical context for successful implementation of predictive analytic techniques and examples of implementation of successful use cases.
Enterprise Service Management & IT Operations Management Coming TogetherOpsRamp
IT Service Management (ITSM) has moved beyond IT and is now often referred to as Enterprise Service Management. Similarly, IT Operations Management (ITOM) has gone beyond disparate monitoring tools and single pane of glass promises to focus on the broader needs of digital operations. In this Tech Talk, FlyCast Partners will join us to discuss Enterprise Service Management - what's changed, what's next and how does it intersect with modern digital operations. As always, we'll discuss the new reality of today's remote IT operations and dive into an OpsRamp demonstration highlighting bi-directional integration with ITSM tools like Cherwell, Ivanti, and ServiceNow.

Data modelling is considered a staple in the world of data management. The skill of the data modeler and their knowledge of the business plays a large role in successful Enterprise Information Management across many organizations. Data modeling requires formal accountability, attention to metadata and getting the business heavily involved in data requirement development. These are all traits of solid Data Governance programs.
Join Bob Seiner and a special guest modeler extraordinaire in this month’s installment of Real-World Data Governance to discuss data modeling as a form of data governance. Learn how to use the skillfulness of the data modeler to advance data-as-an-asset and governance agendas while conveying the importance and value of both disciplines.
In this webinar Bob and a special guest will talk about:
•Data Modeling as Art or Science
•Role of Data Modeler in a Governance Program
•Data Modeler Skills as Governance Skills
•Modeling and Governance Best Practices
•Leveraging the Model as a Governance Artifact

Developing a Data Strategy for your organization can seem like a daunting task. The opportunity in getting it right can be significant, however, as data drives many of the key initiatives in today’s marketplace: digital transformation, marketing, customer centricity, and more. This webinar will help de-mystify Data Strategy and Data Architecture and will provide concrete, practical ways to get started.
Enterprise Architecture vs. Data ArchitectureDATAVERSITY
Enterprise Architecture (EA) provides a visual blueprint of the organization, and shows key interrelationships between data, process, applications, and more. By abstracting these assets in a graphical view, it’s possible to see key interrelationships, particularly as they relate to data and its business impact across the organization. Join us for a discussion on how Data Architecture is a key component of an overall Enterprise Architecture for enhanced business value and success.
Big data analytics: Technology's bleeding edgeBhavya Gulati
There can be data without information , but there can not be information without data.
Companies without Big Data Analytics are deaf and dumb , mere wanderers on web.
Material for the 26 Oct 2015 lecture I held for Aalto University business students. The lecture focuses on the high level topics in analytics and Big Data that are either central to the subject or just highly visible in the media.
The main messages of the lecture are:
- The purpose of analytics and of the data analyst is to solve business problems
- Big Data brings over some very special traits to doing analytics that don't exist when working working with smaller datasets. Understanding these traits is a must for successful analytics.
- Deploying analytics is more dependent on humans than on technology
- Data and analytics are nowadays significant assets to many companies. Therefore they need their own strategy and need to be managed just like any other business critical assets.
