TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH,
PLANNING AND EVALUATION
STAGES?

2. TECHNOLOGY
• Technology is a body of knowledge used to create
tools, develop skills, and extract or collect materials.
Technology help to widen our creativity that is
technology gives as more space to do
extraordinary things, things which would not have
been possible if not for the presence of technology.
For example let us take a look at these two images
below .the first image was taken in 1940s the quality
of the picture in general is not bad .But can we
describe this image perfectly to some who has not
seen it before?, Now the second image is from
recent time by that I mean 2013.

This picture gives more depth in terms of description. It give as the perfect
image in our minds even if we have never been to the place before. This has
been made possible due to the use of colour. This shows that technology is
very essential in every media creation or project.
The computer has played a very major roll in my media project from both AS
and A2 without it none of these below would have been possible.

IMac was used for all our video editing and the windows computer was used
For all my InDesign and Photoshop productions.

5. RESEARCHING AND PLANNIG
• The internet played a very important role in the
making of my media product both from AS and
A2.In AS for example I used the internet to
research into the type of music magazine that I
was creating at that time. Through the use of
Google which is a search engine I was able to
find example of professional magazines within
the type of magazine that I was making. Also it
was through Google that I discovered a font site
known as Dafont.com which help me create
amazing font styles for my music magazine. Also
through Google I got to know more about the
conventions of a music magazine within the Hip
hop genre.

6. • Also through the use of Google I was able to know the right
locations for the shooting of a music within my genre .In my A2
through the use of the internet I was able to discover where I
can find an unsigned artist who will be willing to work with me
and my crew by going on the www.unsigned.com After
finding my artist I need to know more about how to create a
good music video that fits perfectly into the genre of the artist
this where YouTube became very useful. Due to the presence
of YouTube I was able to be able to watch music of
professional artists who fell within my genre and by doing this I
was able to know where to set my video the type mise en
scene, Editing and camera angels that my target audience
will be expecting to see in my music video. In terms of my
research and planning my mobile phone also played an
important role through the use of the mobile phone I was able
to communicate with my artist to know when he was free and
ready for filming. Also the mobile helped me to access
websites in places where I had no access to the computer.

7. • In planning my music video I had to draw a story
board .Microsoft paint was very useful .by using
pain I was able to draw my artist and what I
expected of him in each scene. It also made the
shooting very easy and very understandable.
• Also I used my phone to check when the weather
was suitable for filming through the use of .

8. CONSTRUCTION
• In AS MEDIA I was to create a magazine, I used
adobe In Design and Photoshop. These soft wares
helped increase my creativity, by using these
Softwares, I was able to manipulate the quality of
the image and also the colour and the size of the
image which helped me to achieve the exact size
for my magazine cover.

9. • Photoshop for instance helped me to add more
effects to my images in the construction of my cd
package for my A2 coursework. Also through the
use of Photoshop I was able to achieve this image
which I could not have done with only the camera.
Also through the use of these softwares I was able
to increase or decrease the brightness of my image
where necessary .Picture below are some of the
pictures I took with my camera. They looked a little
dark.

12. • Through the use of Photoshop I was able to achieve these
images below which were perfect for my cd package.

These softwares also made it possible for me to lay another
image over the other this help me to get a unique image.

13. • Secondly in constructing my music video the video
camera played a very important roll .Without the
video camera there would not have been any
music video .the video camera made it possible to
film the artist while he was performing his music.
• Also due to the improvement of technology less
effort was used to achieve the best quality footage
expected. However this could not have been done
without the tripod. The tripod also provided a great
assistance in the production of my music video.

14. • The tripod helped to hold the
camera in place and prevented
it from shaking .Also through the
use of the tripod I was able to
shoot from high angles and low
angles. After filming FinalCutPro
was used in bringing all the
pieces of footage together. Also
final cut pro helped me to put
some effects on my video,
effects which included colour
correction, increasing and
decreasing the speed of a
particular footage and also
adding the song to the video
and removing unwanted
background noise.

15. EVALUATION
• After I had finished my media product I
had to put it on the web where my
teachers and examiner could see and
mark ,through the internet I was able to
create a blog where I could post all my
work. My work was on a website known
as word press. Word press is an amazing
site which allowed me to learn a lot of
things such as laying out my work. The
site allowed me to create a menus and
categories where each piece of my
work went.

16. • Also social networks such as face book and twitter
played a very important role in my music video
,through these social networks I was able to get
audience feedback .these audience feedback
made me aware of certain mistakes that I had
made in the construction of my music video, my cd
package and my magazine adverts. It also made
me aware of how creative I was in the construction
of certain media product such as the cd package.
• YouTube again was very helpful in my evaluation
,comment left by my audience who had already
viewed the video made me aware of certain things
that i could not have seen at first .
