What is Network ?
 A network is two or more computers, or other electronic
devices, connected together so that they can exchange
data.
For example a network allows computers to share files,
users to message each other, a whole room of computers
to share a single printer, etc.
Network connections between computers are typically
created using cables (wires). However, connections can be
created using radio signals (wireless / wi-fi).
3
4
General Types of
Network
This Network used between countries
for example join countries all over the
world.
This network using in local for
example for join multi office together
or join network between cities , this
network reduce cost than Global
network.
5
Global Network
Local Network
Types of Network
 LAN ( Local Area Network )
 MAN ( Metropolitan Area Network )
 WAN ( Wide Area Network )
 WLAN ( Wireless Local Area Network )
6
Local Area Network
 This is one of the original categories of
network, and one of the simplest. LAN
networks connect computers together
over relatively small distances, such as
within a single building or within a small
group of buildings, This network used
between (100m – 1000m).
7
Metropolitan Area Network
 This is a network which is larger
than a LAN but smaller than a WAN,
and incorporates elements of both.
It typically spans a town or city and
is owned by a single person or
company, such as a local council or
a large company.
8
Wide Area Network
 This is another of the original categories of
network, and slightly more complex in
nature. WAN networks connect computers
together over large physical distances,
remotely connecting them over one huge
network and allowing them to communicate
even when far apart. The Internet is a WAN,
and connects computers all around the
world together.
9
Wireless Local Area Network
 This is a LAN which works using wireless
network technology such as Wi-Fi. This
type of network is becoming more popular
as wireless technology is further
developed and is used more in the home
and by small businesses. It means devices
do not need to rely on physical cables and
wires.
10
Advantages of Network
 Easily share files and data.
 Share resources such as printers and Internet connections
 Communicate with other network users (e-mail, instant messaging, video-
conferencing, etc.).
 Store data centrally .
 Keep all of our settings centrally .
11
12
Advantages of Network With Wireless :
 Network With Wireless Reduce cost than
network with wire.
 Tying and build network With Wireless is
easier than network with wire.
Advantages of Network
 Advantages of Network With Wire :
 Network with wire is much better and faster
in a little time can transmit data.
 Network with wire will be implicated less
and not effected by weather.
 Network with wire have more security.
Disadvantages of Network
 The computer is vulnerable to hackers.
 If the network breaks, many tasks become very difficult.
 Your computer can more easily be attacked by a virus.
13
Disadvantages of Network14
Disadvantages of Network With Wire :
 Network With Wire cost is more than Network
With Wireless.
 Tying Network With Wire is more difficult
than Network With Wireless.
Disadvantages of Network With Wireless :
 Data will be transmit later than Network With
Wire.
 Network With Wireless have a weak security.
 Network With Wireless will be effected by
weather.
15
Types of Create
Connection
connection between three computers
or more, or three machine or more,
and join three business apartment or
more that we can exchange data.
The simplest type of connection
between two computers or two
machine or join two business
apartment that we can exchange data.
16
Point to Point
Multi Point
What is Network Topology ?
 This is the basic Systemize of Network to create our networks easiest
and best form,
17
 Types of Network Topology:
1- Star
2- Ring
3- Bus
4- Mesh
5- Line
6- Tree
7- Fully connected
What is IP Address ?
 IP is abbreviation of ( Internet Protocol ), IP consisted four parts that each
of them consist of three numbers, between each other part have a dot( . ) ,
numbers will be prolonged from ( 0 to 250 ).
For example (192.198.0.1 ) or (168.10.10.10 )
 We have Two Types of IP ( Internet Protocol ) : -
1- Dynamic IP addresses ( Temporary )
2- Static IP addresses ( Permanency )
18
Conclusion:
 As a result in this presentation we learned that Network is the main way
to exchange data ,files and information between Computers and
electronic devices of cities and countries. And we learned types of
Network ,and advantages and disadvantages of network with wire or
wireless. And we knew ways to create connection for Network. .
And we talked about Network topology and it types, and IP address.
