Essay about Observing a Child with Autism
Observing a Child with Autism
Cody is an eight year old boy diagnosed with autism. Cody tends to perseverant on things that are
dangerous. He often verbalizes glass is dangerous, it cuts your eye, call 211, go to the hospital. Cody
also tends to stare off into space and is socially inappropriate. Cody had been placed in severely
handicapped classrooms that consisted of children with severe cognitive and physical disabilities.
Cody was provided with a one to one aide through BCRC. Currently, Cody is in a new program
designed for children with autism. The student to teacher ratio is two to one. The stimulation in the
classroom has been reduced to a minimum to provide an appropriate learning environment. Cody ...

At that time, I asked her to think about what she would like Cody to be able to do in a year. She
immediately responded that she and her husband had always hoped that Cody would learn to read. She
reported that previous experiences with his teacher had led them to focus on self help and behavioral
goals. Cody loves to listen to stories. It is used as a reward in the classroom. He prefers to look at a
book over anything else in the classroom. For these reasons, parent interview and classroom
observations, I have chosen to teach Cody pre reading skills.
Operational Definition Due to time constraints, I will focus on teaching Cody to identify the letters
a,b,c,d, and t and to produce the phonological sound. After he has mastered the sound with symbol, I
will focus on blending the sounds to produce consonant vowel consonant words ( cat, bat, at ).
Mastery will consist of 80 % accuracy over seven days. These tasks will be single step. This
information will generalize for Cody because he has a natural love for books. Once he has mastered a
few sounds, he will be able to read a short a book on his own.
Task Analysis Method The task that I chose for Cody is a single step task. A plastic letter is placed in
front of Cody. He picks up the letter, feels it. After feeling the letter he identifies it. After hearing
himself identify the letter, he makes the appropriate hand sign. While feeling the hand sign, he

The Slaves And Effects Of Slavery By Frederick Douglass
1. Slavery is an institution that repetitively separates family members and close friends from each
other, without any regard to those people. This aids in disrupting the heteronormative nuclear family
relationship greatly. Frederick Douglass said that My mother and I were separated when I was but an
infant... and that It is a common custom...to part children from their mothers at a very early age. (pg.
1). This showing that most children that were born into slavery would grow up having no relationship
at all with their own mothers. Also, a lot of slaves were born into slavery by the fact that children of
slave women shall in all cases follow the condition of their mothers, (pg. 2) and the slaveholder now
holds the title of father and master. With being torn from their mother at a young age and having your
own father be your master, completely takes away the chance of a child that is born into slavery from
having the normal nuclear family relationship.
2. The institution of slavery is something that can corrupt all parties involved or that around it. There
was no exception, men, women, children, and the slaves themselves could be subject to be corrupted
due to these horrific circumstances. Obviously the slave owners were the most corrupted with thinking
that this institution was morally right, but their children were taught at a young age that this treatment
to black people was fine. Douglass says that it was a very common saying even among the young
white boys

Negative Effects Of The Pol Pot Regime
Prior to the history of the Pol Pot Regime that occurred in Cambodia, there were many conflicts that
sparked within the government. In April 1975, Cambodia s government had gone through significant
drastic changes, and many of the citizens were forced to leave their own lifestyles.1 The importance of
a changing government could be seen as crucial because during this time period, government
reformations created a negative impact towards the citizens. The Khmer Rouge were Maoist forces led
by Pol Pot in Cambodia during the reign of terror that lasted from 1975 to 1979. 2 It was a terrifying
sight of exhausted victims, eyes widened with fear, arms and necks chained with bruises marking their
features.3 Many of the children and parents had to endure endless harsh labor daily, while suffering
exhaustion and limited sources of food.4

goods and boosted economy, many citizens suffered because the working conditions weren t as
developed and the living conditions had become poorer due to factory and waste pollution, similar to

Azalea and Friends Essay
Today was going to be a superb day. Azalea had invited all her friends to her house. She had found a
key in her backyard, yesterday and didn t know what to do with it. Ding, Dong, Ding, the bell rang it
was Max, at the door Azalea s best friend in the whole world. Hi, Azalea Max cried. Hey, Azalea
replied. I want to show you something I found. Let s wait for the others. Before Azalea and Max knew
it, everyone was there. First to arrive was Taylor, followed by Madeline, lastly with a tie, the twins
Brad and Chad. I m so happy everyone could make it, Azalea squealed. Now follow me to the
playroom. Azalea s house was humongous. There were fancy sculptures and pictures everywhere. It

Good one, Max, Azalea exclaimed!
Biscuit! Azalea called. Come here.

luck the key didn t fit. Well obviously it fits a tree. Brad snorted. You must be kidding, Azalea said. No
he s not Chad retorted. The key is shaped like a tree, so it must obviously fit inside of a tree. I think
you guys are on to something, Azalea expressed. Everyone lets head to the backyard.
The outside of Azalea s house was just as nice as the inside. She had a miniature garden and a spiffy,
wooden patio. Tall, old, oak trees were all around Azalea s house; they swayed in a mysterious
rhythm. Now what tree could it be? Madeline, asked the group. Let s try the massive one at the top of
the hill. Azalea, proclaimed. It was a hike, but the kids reached the top of the hill. When they reached
the massive oak tree Azalea noticed a door. The door had a keyhole. Put the key, Put the key, Brad
yelled! Don t rush me. Are you guys sure of this? Azalea asked her friends. I mean this could be risky.
Everyone just stood there and looked at each other for a second. We re sure, piped Max. Just like
Peanut Butter and Jelly, we ll all stick together. Ok, you guys here goes nothing. Azalea placed the key
inside the keyhole, and one by one, from Azalea to Chad, they entered the door. It was pitch black

Cable Television Consumer Protection And Competition Act...
When the rise of cable television began there were many local broadcasters who were worried about
what sort of financial state they would be left in once audiences decided to switch over to much larger
networks. Time went on and many attempts at regulating cable companies became bigger and bigger
issues. The larger networks could reach across the nation, and by doing so would have effectively
rendered the local network useless. The people were growing weary of the services provided by the
cable companies, as well as the price at which they had been charging for those services. Realizing
that this could become a greater issue Congress endeavored to settle this debacle by making the Cable
Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992. This law would require cable providers
to set aside channels so that local or public broadcasters could take place in the vacant airwaves,
which would effectively keep them all from going out of business under the pressure of larger cable
networks. The Federal Communications Commission would be responsible for any sort of actions to
be taken to ensure that the Act was properly set into place. For those who worked under local and
public broadcasting this was the greatest kind of victory, but not everyone was happy about the
decision to enact this law. The Act caused many dissenting opinions within the cable industry as they
appealed to the courts with the intention of proving that a must carry policy is unconstitutional.

Ride Along 2 Analysis
After four weeks of dominance, The Force was officially been subdued and dethroned by the new
comedy sequel, Ride Along 2. With a significant debut of $34 million, the comedy duo of Kevin Hart
Ice Cube strikes again just as they did with their predecessor nearly two years ago to the day.
Unfortunately, not everything about Ride Along 2 s victory is good news as the new film failed to
surpass the opening establish by 2014 s Ride Along ($41.5 million). Of course poor reviews didn t
help the comedy s cause, either as it currently maintains a wretched score of 14% at RottenTomatoes.
Regardless, Ride Along 2 is far from a bust after being produced on $40 million. Holding strong in the
second position is the new Golden Globe winner for Best Drama, The Revenant which grabbed a
healthy $29.5 million. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, gave Star Wars a run for its money last
weekend, through coming up just short. However, with a slew of Golden Globe wins last weekend,
The Revenant picked up steam and should continue to remain relevant as we move closer to he Oscars
in February. To date, The Revenant has grossed $111.4 million, worldwide ($87.6 million,
domestically), and was produced on $135 million. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Swot Analysis Ryanair
Strengths Ryanair is one of the largest European airline company and it keeps growing by launching
new routes and opening new bases. Ryanair was the first company in reducing ticket costs and keep
them low at all times. Low fares area key strength of the company and very big advantage over other
airlines. Another strength of the company has a strong brand which means it s widely recognised.
Ryanair established in the European market share. The current market cap in millions is £17,729.86
according to London Stock Exchange. (Appendix 1) The last strength of Ryanair listed is the ability of
landing in over 200 destinations on 33 countries. Weakness Internally, there has been serious strategic
issues with current employment model applied by Ryanair. Statistics shown that the average length of
service for pilots is about 4.6 years and average of 386 pilots leave Ryanair each year since 2012. This
is caused by precarious nature of their employment relationship including disrespect towards pilots
and cabin crew, failure of giving scheduled time off and working over contracted hours. In this case
precarious work condition means that many Ryanair pilots don t have fixed permanent contract. Pilots
are grouped into Irish agency companies which have between 5 and 8 pilot directors, those agency
companies then subcontract into a UK labour provider of pilots and then that UK provider provides
the pilot labour into Ryanair. This causing a big distance between Ryanair and the

The Flat Tax And Tax
The flat tax carries many names. Among these names are the fair tax, progressive tax or a
consumption tax. Despite these nicknames, the flat tax is a proposal that taxes are collected on
different goods and services. The basic premise is that everyone pays a certain percentage of tax on
the things that they buy. This percentage varies depending on who is making the particular proposal.
This idea of a tax on goods rather than on income has different arguments for and against it. The first
major argument of the flat tax is that it everyone pays the same percentage. This seemingly simple
statement has managed to split up into sides. One side of the coin, there is a certain amount of fairness
employed. Everyone pays the same exact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second major argument in regards to the flat tax is that it creates a simple tax rate that is easily
calculable by the average individual. While there is no argument about the complexity of the tax code,
there are still arguments pertaining to making taxes simple. One side is concerned about the economic
effects that simplification of the code will have on business operations. Since many of the tax
exemptions center around corporate operations, there are potentially some business that might see a
dramatic increase in taxes while other will see a dramatic drop in rates. Those businesses that operate
solely in selling consumer goods such as cars will see a much higher tax bill than those that operate
more on offering services. On the other side of this, the tax code will be simple enough that anyone
can calculate it. This means that people can estimate how much they are going to spend on taxes. The
argument is that this will boost the economy because people are able to plan and spend their money
better. With better planning, people may invest more and save more. Better money management also
leads to better credit scores and will help to loosen up the credit market. However, that won t always
be the case since there are many different factors that play into how a consumer spends their money.
The third major argument is that it will shrink Government.

Andrew Carnegie And The Gospel Of Wealth
Andrew Carnegie (1835 1919) was a major American industrialist in the late 19th century and after
obtaining substantial wealth from his steel industry, became an advocate for giving back to the less
fortunate. Carnegie s desire to donate to those less fortunate came from past experiences, growing up
as an immigrant and working in a cotton factory young. He knew and understood the hardships that
people faced when not able to acquire the type of wealth he rose to earn. Through his long life this
atypical businessman advocated for many and dedicated the later years of his life to promoting the
general welfare of the world.
After having enough of the steel industry in which Carnegie built from the ground up, with little
training and knowledge in the field, other than his past experiences from working on the railroads and
investing in oil and iron companies, The Gospel of Wealth (1889) was written. At the time of booming
industry, few men had the opportunity to amass such vast fortunes such as Carnegie, and in writing
The Gospel of Wealth (1889), Carnegie wanted to inspire to those with money to donate and give back
to the less fortunate, and life with be better for everyone. He penned that greedy men who let their
money die with them are a disgrace, and that the wealthy have a sort of obligation to promote the
common welfare for the average American. Although Andrew Carnegie did not write any other essay,
he donated millions of dollars, funded libraries, and supported a

The World s Wife By. Duffy
As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the focus on
women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs Beast , in
which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give Mrs Beast
dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The opening lines of
Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters mentioned throughout The
World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that would fit the themes of the
sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to men from Mrs Beast, who sees
these women in herself, commenting: so when you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the stanza, as
Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold stashed in the
bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take care of herself with no
need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is highlighted by the anaphora of
my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout The World s Wife , particularly in
Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in
Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which describes a girl progressing from innocence
and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and becoming independent ten years later. Despite
these differences, both poems similarly reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red
Cap could grow up to become with her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her
ability to take care of herself and be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look .
In juxtaposition with this, the Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the
traditional handsome and arrogant prince of fairytales. He is treated and described as an animal
instead of a person, falling to his knees at the door for Mrs Beast and kiss(ing) her glove with his
mongrel lips , reflecting his

To A Utilitarian, This Would Not Apply As They Are Not
To a Utilitarian, this would not apply as they are not bound by the holy scripture, the divine command,
they would view this as, it s their own decision to decide what to do with their own body, no
government, no authority or any other person can interfere on what their right is. It is their own
absolute autonomy to make their own decision, whether they choose to die. Jeremy Bentham
associates utilitarianism with ancient hedonism, where actions are resulting in the pursuit of
happiness. It was him who established act utilitarian; where the decisions deal with each individual

This would achieve the best health care system for the society; since we would be saving all the
patients coming through the emergency room. Also, some patients feel hopeless when the clinicians
are making their decisions for them, however, when clinicians are dealing with competent, rational
patients, patients can take part of the decision making on their own treatment, the dilemma happens
when the patient is not rational, incompetent, like a patient without an advanced directive for
healthcare and being in a persistent vegetative state, or coma and unable to make their own decisions.
An advantage to a utilitarian theory would be; if a terminal ill person wanted to die, and family
members did not object to the person wanting to die, then the Mercy killing would be viewed as
acceptable. Similarly, utilitarian s are not bound to the holy scripture, so the command, Though shall
not kill , also has no effect on what is morally right or what is morally wrong for a utilitarian person
wanting to die, so if they majority of the family are okay with the person wanting to die by voluntary
euthanasia, then it would be viewed as acceptable. However, the disadvantage to this would be, what
about the minority? Being utilitarian, and being a minority would not be in your favor, because the
majority would always win. What if your Grandma, who is suffering from a terminal illness,

Propaganda And Doublespeak By Donna Woolfolk Cross
The use of propaganda and doublespeak have a long history, going back to the ancient societies.
Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have an effect on the emotions,
attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them to accept a particular political, religious, or
financial point of view, or even to start a war. It is careful manipulation of the opinions of the societies
mostly by their government. In the effort to control the nation s thought process, the government has
used mass propaganda for selling a war.
In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of Doublespeak, both authors
discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda and the misleading nature of doublespeak. First,
Donna Woolfolk Cross describes the constructions and the specific methods propaganda presented in
our day by day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross believes that it is important for people
in a democratic society to be well informed about propaganda due to how people get manipulated into
simply doing something except thinking. Additionally, Cross explains for us as readers the different
sorts of propaganda and how we view the topics in a positive way. She highlights in her essay that
propaganda is not continually negative; however, it also used in significant ways. Cross presents in her
essay that there are thirteen different types of propaganda; such as Card Stacking, Name calling, and

The Darkness Of The Night
The slightly built woman dreaded the advancing darkness of the night as she stood solemnly by the
window, staring, but not actually seeing the rolling green hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Their
peaks dominated the landscape, rising high above the treetops. How she would love to escape over
their crests never to return.
In the distance, an encroaching curtain of gloom had begun to fall across the countryside. Lightning
bolts flashed brilliantly across the sky briefly brightening the room, as the loud rumble of thunder
shook the windows.
The damp air from the approaching rain blew through the open window and hung in the room with
humid, oppressive tension, bringing the potential for chaos along with a cleansing relief from the
relentless summer heat.
Worry and doubt cast a burden on her heart as the setting sun slowly seeped into the earth, drawing her
ever closer to despair.
Uneasy fingers ruffled through light brown hair, which flowed in long waves to her waist. Beautiful,
tear filled violet eyes reflected an intensity that was rare in someone so young.
One hand reached up hastily wiping a tear from her rosy cheek where a smattering of faint freckles ran
randomly across the bridge of her nose.
The bleakness of the threatening thunderclouds, chasing across the evening sky, matched the depth of
her encompassing depression.
It was Friday, and the coal miners would be converging on the local merchants to spend the small
amount of cash they received each week. The

Physical Development Involves Developing Control Over The...
Sky was in a hurry to born. She was born at 35 weeks my water broke at home and by the time I

infancy through adolescence with Sky. Physical development examining the ways in which the body s
makeup the brain, nervous system, muscles, and senses and the need for food, drink, and sleep helps
determine behavior (Feldman, 2013, p. 5). Physical development involves developing control over the

How To Be Remembered Sir Isaac Newton
When asked about how he would be remembered Sir Isaac Newton once said, I do not know what I
may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore,
and diverting myself now and then in finding a smoother pebble or prettier shell than ordinary, while
the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me(bio.com) Today, one of the most highly
regarded scientists is still Sir Isaac Newton. He should be remembered as the father of modern
physics. Sir Isaac Newton was born on Jan 4, 1643 or according to December 25,1642 in Woolsthorpe,
England. He never knew his father because he died before he was born and his mother remarried when
he was three (bio.com). His mother moved in with his stepfather but she left him to be raised by his
maternal grandmother Newton was educated at the King s School in Grantham which taught Latin and
Greek but very little math. After the death of his stepfather, his mother wanted him to quit school to
become a farmer. His mother was later convinced to allow him to re enroll at the school by the
headmaster Henry Stokes (Wikipedia). After he was finished studying at the King s School in

Parable Of The Sower
Introduction
As the world s population continue to migrate and live in urban areas, planners, engineers, and
politicians have an important responsibilities to ensure that they are livable and sustainable. But what
defines an urban area, and what makes it so attractive? In my opinion, urban area are places that
consists of a variety of land uses and buildings. Places where services and amenities are easily
accessible to the general public, with an efficient multimodal (i.e. rail, vehicles, bikes, public transit,
walking and etc.) established transportation network. As well, it should be a place where people can
play, learn, work, and grow in a healthy, safe, and collaborative manner. Based on that definition, the
novel, Parable of the Sower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, as the government fails to look after their towns, many corporations, such as KSF,
brought out many towns, such as Olivar. At first, corporate owned towns seemed ideal since they offer
jobs and protection, thus citizens in Robledo were quickly applying for spots. Ultimately, Lauren s
friend, Joanne, and her family got accepted to Olivar and she even said I have to go. What else is there
for me for anyone. It s all going to hell here. You know it is. (Butler 150). However despite Joanne s
belief, Lauren, her father and Joanne s boyfriend were all skeptical about Olivar since they
contemplated that it is a trap and at ... the end is debt and loss of freedom. (Butler 152). It was not
until the end of the novel, when we met corporate town escapees, Emery, that the readers finally learns
about the truth about corporate owned towns. It was stated by Emery that wages were paid, but in
company scrip, not in cash. Rent was charged for the workers shacks. Workers had to pay for food, for
clothing new or used for everything they needed, and, of course they could only spend their company
notes at the company store. (Butler 330). As well, to make matter worst, they don t have any rights or
freedom, as stated by Emery

Lessons in Civil Disobedience
No one possesses the same morals or beliefs. Morality does not have a black and white answer
because no one is exactly alike. Everyone has their own opinion and right to voice that opinion, and
there are numerous ways of doing so. As a citizen with my own beliefs, I believe I have the right to
violate laws if I feel morally obligated to. The amount of progress that America has made in such a
short amount of time is astonishing. In some ways it seems as if the only way to make any headway is
to speak up. If I was morally opposed to a policy or law I would go against it due to its effectiveness,
individualism, and past history of the world that has made immense progress. It is important to notice
that if civil disobedience was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You cannot base your morals off of a group s thought, because you disregard your own morals.
Thoreau says that, every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new
(Walden 1). Thoreau despised laziness and considered following the crowd as lazy and that as an
individual, you could better the world by standing up for your own beliefs. Thoreau claimed that, not
till we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and realize where we are and the infinite
extent of our relations, (Walden 2). That quote signifies that the only way to find ourselves and our
own beliefs is for there to be significant turmoil in the world. Thoreau states in Civil Disobedience
that, The mass of men serve the state thus, not as men mainly, but as machines, with their bodies... In
most cases there is no free exercise whatever of the judgment or of the moral sense; but they put
themselves on a level with wood and earth and stones; and wooden men can perhaps be manufactured
that will serve the purpose as well (Thoreau 3). Thoreau is basically saying that the mob mentality
does not help make the moral decision because there is a great sense of conformity that individuals
feel obligated to follow. To be individual you must realize that you have to put your beliefs before the
conformist s idea. The history of the world and the

Personal Statement For Marine Engineering
In order to be a highly effective man, I believe that talent and working hard are not enough, one
should also go for his own dreams. It takes me some time to find out how to pursue my dream which
is serving people in the real world. My father is from Abadan, a coastal city in southern Iran. In my
childhood, he always talked to me about the poor people in the coastal cities of Iran. The main job of
those people is fishing. However, lack of properly designed fishing ships and corrosion of existing
ships have caused some fishermen to lose their lives due to ship sinking and fishing became a low
profit business every year. For this reason, I was very excited to have any contribution to improving
the life quality of these people by appropriate designing of the ships. So I found myself greatly
interested in optimal designing of the various ships mainly fishing ships. This encouraged me to select
to be a Marine Engineer. However, the most of my friends looked down on me because Marine
Engineering was not a popular course in my country and they told me you will regret in the future.
However, despite all the contempt, the strong educational background and great enthusiasm led to I

Fernando Botero Essay
Fernando Botero is an internationally acclaimed figurative artist and sculptor. He is one of the most
traded and recognized artists from Latin America. His art is exhibited in international museums
worldwide and follows an art style he spent years to perfect. Fernando Botero s success began in
Columbia; he then moved Barcelona, Madrid and finally Paris where he now spends most of his time.
Botero s beginner art was frequently criticized for lacking its own identity as it was influenced by the
works of various renowned artists such as Diego Rivera, Pablo Picasso, Francisco Goya and Diego
Velasquez. As a result, Botero developed his own, unique style known as Boterismo (Bertamini).

Pros And Cons Of Social Darwinism
Social Darwinists argue that economic competition produces human process. Social Darwinism is a
theory that states that individuals, groups, and people are all subject to the same Darwinian law of
natural selection as plants and animals. Spencer s idea was modified to refer to free competition in the
economic world. Spencer stated that free competition ensures that only the most capable individuals
survive and rise to the top. He also argued that the free competition that enriches some individuals and
reduces others to poverty results in the gradual improvement of the human race. One basic problem
with his idea is that the skills that help individuals and firms advance and survive in the business
world are not necessarily those that help humanity survive on the planet. Advancements might be
achieved through a ruthless disregard for other human beings. It is also important to mention that the
main problem with the Social Darwinists is the normative assumption that survival of the fittest means
survival of the best. 9. What are Marx s four forms of alienation? How does each form help to increase
inequalities of wealth and power? The first form of alienation is alienating workers from their own

Summary Of Ten Questions By Joel M. Charon
The study of sociology is the study of a society and how people behave in these societies. According
to Joel M. Charon in his book Ten Questions, he states that Sociology is an academic discipline, an
attempt to seek knowledge and understanding through painstaking and critical investigation (Charon
3). In other words, it is an attempt to become knowledgeable about of different societies and people in
those societies work together. When studying sociology, a person is trying to understand human
society and how humans act and react to certain situations presented to them in their society. It also
seeks to understand how much a person will interact with their society.
When Charon first discusses society he says, Society is not simply a bunch of individuals; it
constitutes a larger whole, a reality that it is more than the sum of the individuals who make it up
(Charon 5). This means that society does not mean lots of people in the same place, it is people living
together as a community, having relationships with each other and having a similar or the same
culture. A culture can be defined as a way of life for a group of people within their society. Living in a
place where everyone comes from the same culture does not necessarily mean that you automatically
have a well working society. While culture is very important to a society, it is important for the people
living there to be able to establish relationships with the people living around them. For a society to
thrive, the

Leadership Styles And Leadership Skills
According to our textbook, leadership is an influence relationship among leaders and followers who
intend real changes and outcomes that reflect their shared purposes (Daft, 2014, pg. 5). In another
word, leadership is not defined by what one individual does, but as the ability to form an alliance,
motivate, empowered, coach, and to build relationship with others. Leadership is a set of skills that
leaders can practice over time. In addition, there are different leadership perspectives one can develop
in order to become an effective leader. Furthermore, there are a number of leadership styles leaders
can adapt to. Among them are micromanaging, coaching, democratic, delegating, and many more. All

Many researchers have lodged a number of theories of leadership to better understand leadership, and
most importantly, why some people are better leaders than others. For example, behavioral theories of
leadership focus on the leader s behavior towards followers. Theorist concluded that a leader s
behavior will not only reveal his or her leadership influences, but also determine his or her leadership
success. Behavioral theories support a number of different approaches to mandate. The text book
describes two important behaviors leaders demonstrate, autocratic and democratic. According to Daft,
an autocratic leader tends to centralize authority and derive power from position, control of rewards,
and coercion (2014, pg. 44). For example, followers rely on their leaders for everything, and they have
limited access. On the other hand, democratic leaders delegate authority to others, encourage
participation, relies on subordinate s knowledge for completion of tasks, and depends on subordinate
respect for influence (Daft, 2014, pg. 44). Followers with democratic leaders have a better chance to
grow in an organization. Traits are the distinguishing personal characteristics of a leader, such as
intelligence, honesty, self confidence, and appearance (Daft, 2014, pg. 36). Trait theories assume that
people ingrained certain qualities and traits that make them better suited to leadership. Trait theories

Carnage And Culture By Victor Davis Hanson

Carnage and Culture: Landmark Battles in the Rise of Western Power. In the book, Victor Hanson

He looks at the army and warfare in terms of men, technology, valour and victory (Hanson 68). He
also discusses the west?s militarism tradition. A tradition supports mobilization of citizen soldiers and
animating them with principles of collective endeavor. According to Victor Hanson, it is the west?s
tradition that has helped them develop and maintain a strong military power. Hanson struggles to
recreate nine ?landmark? episodes of combat through which the west gradually started their rise to the
top. In this approach, three classical period episodes are depicted to show the situational onset of the
rise of the west as Salamis, Cannae and Gaugamela. Hanson depicts these battles to have manifested
particular western lethal military machinery. Moreover, the chronology is given a vivid progression
when the author depicts that gradual spread of the western style war machinery through three
additional battles as Tenochtitlan, Poitiers and Lepanto. The author eventually examined the gradual
mechanism of battle spread from Europe into the west. The distinct military style of invincibility is
further traced through Midway, Rorke?s Drift and Tet.
John Lynn, on the other hand, tries to conceptualize the relationship between practical dimensions of
war and cultural factors. Although he tries to undermine Victor Hanson?s idea of war, he discusses the
realities of combat and discourse of war based on social and political

We walk out of the airport and stop, frozen in sheer amazement at the picturesque view of Bermuda.
This sheer amazement occurs when one is so astonished at what his eyes lay upon that his body
forgets all functions, as if each muscle and organ is in envy of what the eyes are rewarded with.
(Definition) As if on cue, the aroma of peppers comes upon us as we look upon the clear, turquoise
water waving back and forth in front of us between the immaculate palm trees swaying in the light
breeze. We follow our taxi driver to his car and enter, only to hear music that would never be played in
America. It sounds like an upbeat Caribbean or Jamaican tune, which clearly represents the mood of
everyone who lives in Bermuda, and soon us as well. This drive to the resort is one of the most

A Brief Note On The Ethiopian Church Of Egypt
Rastafarianism is the child of two very distinct and unrelated entities. One parent is Garveyism, an
ideology which at its essence is a Black supremacist socio political movement with the end goal of
repatriating African descendants in the diaspora back to Africa and and Ethiopian Orthodox
Christianity. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is one of the five monophysite churches, characterised
by their rejection of the Council of Chalcedon 451 AD(Ethiopian) This council was convened in an
effort to create uniformity in regards to doctrine amongst varying christian sects. One of the many
decisions agreed upon was that God had two distinct natures in Christ. Ethiopian orthodox christianity
vehemently disagreed with the council and instead decided that Christ s humanity cannot be separated
from his divinity.(Encyclopedia britannica) The Ethiopian church was for most of its existence placed
under the jurisdiction of the Coptic Church of Egypt. In 1959 the Ethiopian church became
independent from Egypt when an Ethiopian patriarch was elected (Ethiopian) It most be noted that
although the Ethiopian Orthodox church and associated teachings are accepted by the Rastafarian
community all other christian denominations are rejected. They hold the belief that all other religious
institutions, buildings, churches and schools, including Jamaican Pentecostal revivalism although
indigenous, are created with the sole intent of keeping black people down. They believe that Jamaican

Quasi Contracts
INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS:
Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have
little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid
by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of
money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it.
But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by
the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to
emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract.
This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the
purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT:
The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by
the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed
that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for jus naturale
. Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly
obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v.
Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not
stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling
within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy.
Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit
was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of
the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views were
challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 the various actions grouped
under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the common law
were inevitable

Decline in Water Supply in India
Introduction
The available water in India has declined drastically over the past several decades due to the rise in
demand for water sources across almost every industry. This shortage has greatly affected all activity
in India, including the agricultural industry and the available drinking water for domestic life. The
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, or the FOA, believes that India will literally
run out of water if certain steps are not taken to replenish India s aquifers. To fully grasp the matter, an
explanation of the problem is below.
The main cause for concern is that India s flourishing agricultural industry uses the 91% of water
throughout the country leaving aquifers at lower levels every year. ... Show more content on

Fluorosis Epidemic in India Fluoride is a geologic material that lies underneath most of India. As

Why Is Ancient Egypt So Important To Ancient Civilization
River Civilizations Essay. Rivers are very important to any ancient civilization. One of the major
resources that rivers provided was silt. Silt is a kind of dirt filled with important minerals and nutrients
that are very helpful in planting and growing crops. Silt is produced when a river floods and after the
flood is over a nutrient rich soil is left over. Another recourse that rivers provide is food. Rivers can
provide fish that can be used to feed a family or whole city. The final major function of rivers in my
opinion is transportation. Transportation is a very important river function because it can lead to trade

functions for Ancient Egypt and helped them in many different ways from silt to transportation. The
Ancient Egyptians were able to predict flooding of the Nile which came in handy so they could be
well protected and prepared. The Ancient Egyptians would actually celebrate the flooding the Nile
because they knew that after the flood was over silt would be left over which they could use to grow
crops if there was a drought. Egyptians were also excellent sailors which came in handy when it came
time for trading. Ancient Egypt traded many of things like gold, papyrus, linen, and grain. Trading
also helped Egypt move forward because they could borrow ideas from other places that they traded
with and mix them into their culture. In my opinion trading was good, but it also was bad because it

Duddy Kravitz grew up without knowledge of any better life and hustled for every penny he made.
His greed fuels his success and also causes his failures. It is important to realize that without his greed,
Duddy would not have his land. Nevertheless, he would have a stable relationship with Yvette. The
exact nature of Duddy s greed is exhibited when he works at the Hotel Lac des Sables in Ste. Agathe.
He is tricked into acting as banker for a rigged roulette game where he loses three hundred dollars.
Owing to this failure , Duddy runs away from the resort with shame, but Irwin (the one who swindles
him) is forced to return the money. After he receives the money from Irwin, he is welcomed by Mr.
Cohen, one of the guests, who along with other contributors has donated five hundred dollars to pay
Duddy back. Here it is observed that Duddy has no moral values: Duddy rushed upstairs..... and did a
few somersaults (Richler 92). He has just received eight hundred dollars in total. He goes from being a
child and escaping from his problems, to a man with money. Duddy s ambitions are based off this
childish greed. His greed drives his confidence and gives him an ego. When things do not go his way,
he does not know where to turn and reverts to being greedy again. This affects other characters too,
such as Virgil, who knows no better of Duddy and looks up to him as a guru. Unfortunately for Virgil,
from the moment they met on the train, Duddy s intent was not to provide support to Virgil, but to
cheat him and profit from his simple mindedness. From the moment, they meet, he takes any chance
he gets to swindle Virgil. This is first seen when Virgil comes to Montreal. Duddy takes this
opportunity to get free work done and Virgil believes that Duddy truly cares for him. So when Virgil is

feel happy, because the day was beautiful, fun, and full of funny things. My mother took us to the
Outlets for school shopping. I enjoyed that because I like school shopping, even though I do not like
the beginning of school. Bath and Body Works is my favorite store at the outlets because I love all the
smells and colors.
The smells and colors are made by people with a very prestigious job. They are called perfumers, and
they use chemistry to make perfume, lotion, shampoo, and body wash. There are two types of
perfuming: Fine fragrance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lady in the center of the picture has a bad tempered look on her face, and has her arms crossed.
Toward the picture s right side, there are pumpkins of assorted shapes and sizes. The pumpkins are
candle holders, and of course, they hold pumpkin scented candles. The smell of the candles reminds
me of Thanksgiving, and pumpkin pie with cinnamon. Some of the pumpkin shaped candle holders
feel almost like real pumpkins, even though I know they are made of Styrofoam or metal. When this
picture was taken, it was the day before Labor Day, and there were a lot of people at Bath and Body
Works trying to catch a bargain.
You can also see many fall decorations in the picture. There are artificial leaves hanging in the right
corner of the picture. The leaves look like they could be a part of a real tree. They are in mid transition
between green and colors like brown and red. Like I have previously mentioned, there are a
substantial amount of pumpkins in the picture that make you think of fall. Fall is my favorite time of
the year because there are so many colors, and the trees lose their leaves. If you walk on the sidewalk
during fall, the leaves will crunch underneath your feet as you walk. I also like fall because my
birthday is October, and Halloween takes place. Bath and Body Works even makes Halloween themed
hand sanitizers, soaps, and lotions. The history of perfume is shocking and very interesting. In ancient

Teva Pharmaceutical
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd
1) External Environment:
The Pharmaceutical Industry is dependent on political and legal conditions of general environment. In
pharmaceutical industry we have two kind of medications which are generic or innovative. Innovative
pharmaceutical industry success depends on the patent protection in the industry. For example, in
United States innovative industry can have 10 to 12 years of patent protection life from the time that
product is for sale in the market. Success of the generic pharmaceuticals which are bioequivalent to
innovative pharmaceutical is also related to the political and legal environment of their market. If we
look at pharmaceutical industry globally we can see that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover revenue growth and net income growth was positive and high during the 12 and 36 month
period. Teva occupy 18% of generics market in USA and by merging with Ivax it has the highest
number of 180 day exclusivity in 2006.Also since 1985 Teva did merger and acquisition valuing $12
billion which is unique between generic companies. Teva is largest public company in Israel and was
among the first companies that are on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in 1968.
4) Strategy of the firm and Gap analysis
a) Business level strategy: They have tried to become as large as they can by using merger and
acquisition technique to compete better with their competitors .Cost leadership is the business strategy
that Teva is achieving. They spent a lot of time on their business model to be able to offer the lowest
price.
b) Corporate strategy:
Exhibit 7 shows that Teva is practicing the dominant business strategy and almost 80% of Teva
revenue is from generic sales.
GAP ANALYSIS:
Gap is very small for Teva Company because they are very good in their acquisition strategy.
The small gap can be filled by entering into physician driven market instead of waiting for change in
concerned countries regulation even if it would be more costly in short term. Teva should continue in
its

The Curse Of A Curse
Has it ever crossed your mind if you, your family or someone you know is being cursed based on
events happening in your or their life? While some people believe curses to be total bogus there are
actually many people out there who believe in being cursed. To be cursed means to invoke by evil. A
curse is the effective action of some power, distinguished solely by the quality of adversity that it
brings. It may also be said to result from a spell or prayer, imprecation or execration, or other
imposition by magic or witchcraft, asking that a god, natural force, or spirit bring misfortune to
someone. ( ). There are four different types of curses the first beginning with Biblical curses, These
curses are there for those who do not obey God s commandments. The next type is Witchcraft curses,
these are Curses placed on us by witches, any kind of witchcraft for the solutions to any problems one
may have. The third type is Spoken curses by people who are not witches, people place these curses
just by what they say or express about other people and lastly, there are Self imposed curses. This type
of curse is based on what you say about yourself. If you say something negative about yourself, you
are giving the devil permission to send you a demon. (,). People can cast evil spells like a curse for
similar reasons such as attempting to get even with enemies or trying to get ahead in life. In the novel
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, the Leon De Cabral family believes to be

The Goals And Philosophy Of Art
Goals and Philosophy:
Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different sectors. I believe
that displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel that makes
customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience depending on who
they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and
welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there that can be used to
create compelling store displays that provoke consumers to shop and help maximize a store s profits.
This is an interesting field where not only are artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to
merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable.
My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of
surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a unique
perspective motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. I want to be able to have a job that I feel
is rewarding and where each day is somewhat different from the next which is possible with visual
merchandising because retail is always changing visually to keep up with trends and seasons.
In the short term I hope to get a visual merchandising internship or job where I can get more
experience and use my skills that I have learned, in the retail environment. In

  • 2. Essay about Observing a Child with Autism Observing a Child with Autism Cody is an eight year old boy diagnosed with autism. Cody tends to perseverant on things that are dangerous. He often verbalizes glass is dangerous, it cuts your eye, call 211, go to the hospital. Cody also tends to stare off into space and is socially inappropriate. Cody had been placed in severely handicapped classrooms that consisted of children with severe cognitive and physical disabilities. Cody was provided with a one to one aide through BCRC. Currently, Cody is in a new program designed for children with autism. The student to teacher ratio is two to one. The stimulation in the classroom has been reduced to a minimum to provide an appropriate learning environment. Cody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At that time, I asked her to think about what she would like Cody to be able to do in a year. She immediately responded that she and her husband had always hoped that Cody would learn to read. She reported that previous experiences with his teacher had led them to focus on self help and behavioral goals. Cody loves to listen to stories. It is used as a reward in the classroom. He prefers to look at a book over anything else in the classroom. For these reasons, parent interview and classroom observations, I have chosen to teach Cody pre reading skills. Operational Definition Due to time constraints, I will focus on teaching Cody to identify the letters a,b,c,d, and t and to produce the phonological sound. After he has mastered the sound with symbol, I will focus on blending the sounds to produce consonant vowel consonant words ( cat, bat, at ). Mastery will consist of 80 % accuracy over seven days. These tasks will be single step. This information will generalize for Cody because he has a natural love for books. Once he has mastered a few sounds, he will be able to read a short a book on his own. Task Analysis Method The task that I chose for Cody is a single step task. A plastic letter is placed in front of Cody. He picks up the letter, feels it. After feeling the letter he identifies it. • 4. The Slaves And Effects Of Slavery By Frederick Douglass 1. Slavery is an institution that repetitively separates family members and close friends from each other, without any regard to those people. This aids in disrupting the heteronormative nuclear family relationship greatly. Frederick Douglass said that My mother and I were separated when I was but an infant... and that It is a common custom...to part children from their mothers at a very early age. (pg. 1). This showing that most children that were born into slavery would grow up having no relationship at all with their own mothers. Also, a lot of slaves were born into slavery by the fact that children of slave women shall in all cases follow the condition of their mothers, (pg. 2) and the slaveholder now holds the title of father and master. With being torn from their mother at a young age and having your own father be your master, completely takes away the chance of a child that is born into slavery from having the normal nuclear family relationship. 2. The institution of slavery is something that can corrupt all parties involved or that around it. There was no exception, men, women, children, and the slaves themselves could be subject to be corrupted due to these horrific circumstances. Obviously the slave owners were the most corrupted with thinking that this institution was morally right, but their children were taught at a young age that this treatment to black people was fine. • 8. Cable Television Consumer Protection And Competition Act... When the rise of cable television began there were many local broadcasters who were worried about what sort of financial state they would be left in once audiences decided to switch over to much larger networks. Time went on and many attempts at regulating cable companies became bigger and bigger issues. The larger networks could reach across the nation, and by doing so would have effectively rendered the local network useless. The people were growing weary of the services provided by the cable companies, as well as the price at which they had been charging for those services. Realizing that this could become a greater issue Congress endeavored to settle this debacle by making the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992. This law would require cable providers to set aside channels so that local or public broadcasters could take place in the vacant airwaves, which would effectively keep them all from going out of business under the pressure of larger cable networks. The Federal Communications Commission would be responsible for any sort of actions to be taken to ensure that the Act was properly set into place. For those who worked under local and public broadcasting this was the greatest kind of victory, but not everyone was happy about the decision to enact this law. The Act caused many dissenting opinions within the cable industry as they appealed to the courts with the intention of proving that a must carry policy is unconstitutional. (Ugland, ... Despite these nicknames, the flat tax is a proposal that taxes are collected on different goods and services. The basic premise is that everyone pays a certain percentage of tax on the things that they buy. This percentage varies depending on who is making the particular proposal. This idea of a tax on goods rather than on income has different arguments for and against it. The first major argument of the flat tax is that it everyone pays the same percentage. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second major argument in regards to the flat tax is that it creates a simple tax rate that is easily calculable by the average individual. While there is no argument about the complexity of the tax code, there are still arguments pertaining to making taxes simple. One side is concerned about the economic effects that simplification of the code will have on business operations. Since many of the tax exemptions center around corporate operations, there are potentially some business that might see a dramatic increase in taxes while other will see a dramatic drop in rates. Those businesses that operate solely in selling consumer goods such as cars will see a much higher tax bill than those that operate more on offering services. On the other side of this, the tax code will be simple enough that anyone can calculate it. This means that people can estimate how much they are going to spend on taxes. The argument is that this will boost the economy because people are able to plan and spend their money better. With better planning, people may invest more and save more. Better money management also leads to better credit scores and will help to loosen up the credit market. However, that won t always be the case since there are many different factors that play into how a consumer spends their money. The third major argument is that it will shrink Government. ... Andrew Carnegie And The Gospel Of Wealth Andrew Carnegie (1835 1919) was a major American industrialist in the late 19th century and after obtaining substantial wealth from his steel industry, became an advocate for giving back to the less fortunate. • 14. The World s Wife By. Duffy As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the focus on women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs Beast , in which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give Mrs Beast dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The opening lines of Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters mentioned throughout The World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that would fit the themes of the sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to men from Mrs Beast, who sees these women in herself, commenting: so when you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the stanza, as Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold stashed in the bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take care of herself with no need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is highlighted by the anaphora of my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout The World s Wife , particularly in Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which describes a girl progressing from innocence and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and becoming independent ten years later. Despite these differences, both poems similarly reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red Cap could grow up to become with her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her ability to take care of herself and be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look . In juxtaposition with this, the Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the traditional handsome and arrogant prince of fairytales. Thoreau states in Civil Disobedience that, The mass of men serve the state thus, not as men mainly, but as machines, with their bodies... In most cases there is no free exercise whatever of the judgment or of the moral sense; but they put themselves on a level with wood and earth and stones; and wooden men can perhaps be manufactured that will serve the purpose as well (Thoreau 3). Thoreau is basically saying that the mob mentality does not help make the moral decision because there is a great sense of conformity that individuals feel obligated to follow. • 23. Personal Statement For Marine Engineering In order to be a highly effective man, I believe that talent and working hard are not enough, one should also go for his own dreams. It takes me some time to find out how to pursue my dream which is serving people in the real world. My father is from Abadan, a coastal city in southern Iran. In my childhood, he always talked to me about the poor people in the coastal cities of Iran. The main job of those people is fishing. However, lack of properly designed fishing ships and corrosion of existing ships have caused some fishermen to lose their lives due to ship sinking and fishing became a low profit business every year. For this reason, I was very excited to have any contribution to improving the life quality of these people by appropriate designing of the ships. So I found myself greatly interested in optimal designing of the various ships mainly fishing ships. This encouraged me to select to be a Marine Engineer. However, the most of my friends looked down on me because Marine Engineering was not a popular course in my country and they told me you will regret in the future. Social Darwinism is a theory that states that individuals, groups, and people are all subject to the same Darwinian law of natural selection as plants and animals. Spencer s idea was modified to refer to free competition in the economic world. Spencer stated that free competition ensures that only the most capable individuals survive and rise to the top. He also argued that the free competition that enriches some individuals and reduces others to poverty results in the gradual improvement of the human race. One basic problem with his idea is that the skills that help individuals and firms advance and survive in the business world are not necessarily those that help humanity survive on the planet. Advancements might be achieved through a ruthless disregard for other human beings. It is also important to mention that the main problem with the Social Darwinists is the normative assumption that survival of the fittest means survival of the best. 9. • 27. Summary Of Ten Questions By Joel M. Charon The study of sociology is the study of a society and how people behave in these societies. According to Joel M. Charon in his book Ten Questions, he states that Sociology is an academic discipline, an attempt to seek knowledge and understanding through painstaking and critical investigation (Charon 3). In other words, it is an attempt to become knowledgeable about of different societies and people in those societies work together. When studying sociology, a person is trying to understand human society and how humans act and react to certain situations presented to them in their society. It also seeks to understand how much a person will interact with their society. When Charon first discusses society he says, Society is not simply a bunch of individuals; it constitutes a larger whole, a reality that it is more than the sum of the individuals who make it up (Charon 5). This means that society does not mean lots of people in the same place, it is people living together as a community, having relationships with each other and having a similar or the same culture. A culture can be defined as a way of life for a group of people within their society. Living in a place where everyone comes from the same culture does not necessarily mean that you automatically have a well working society. While culture is very important to a society, it is important for the people living there to be able to establish relationships with the people living around them. For a society to thrive, the ... Behavioral theories support a number of different approaches to mandate. The text book describes two important behaviors leaders demonstrate, autocratic and democratic. According to Daft, an autocratic leader tends to centralize authority and derive power from position, control of rewards, and coercion (2014, pg. 44). He looks at the army and warfare in terms of men, technology, valour and victory (Hanson 68). He also discusses the west?s militarism tradition. A tradition supports mobilization of citizen soldiers and animating them with principles of collective endeavor. According to Victor Hanson, it is the west?s tradition that has helped them develop and maintain a strong military power. Hanson struggles to recreate nine ?landmark? episodes of combat through which the west gradually started their rise to the top. In this approach, three classical period episodes are depicted to show the situational onset of the rise of the west as Salamis, Cannae and Gaugamela. Hanson depicts these battles to have manifested particular western lethal military machinery. Moreover, the chronology is given a vivid progression when the author depicts that gradual spread of the western style war machinery through three additional battles as Tenochtitlan, Poitiers and Lepanto. The author eventually examined the gradual mechanism of battle spread from Europe into the west. The distinct military style of invincibility is further traced through Midway, Rorke?s Drift and Tet. One parent is Garveyism, an ideology which at its essence is a Black supremacist socio political movement with the end goal of repatriating African descendants in the diaspora back to Africa and and Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is one of the five monophysite churches, characterised by their rejection of the Council of Chalcedon 451 AD(Ethiopian) This council was convened in an effort to create uniformity in regards to doctrine amongst varying christian sects. One of the many decisions agreed upon was that God had two distinct natures in Christ. Ethiopian orthodox christianity vehemently disagreed with the council and instead decided that Christ s humanity cannot be separated from his divinity.(Encyclopedia britannica) The Ethiopian church was for most of its existence placed under the jurisdiction of the Coptic Church of Egypt. In 1959 the Ethiopian church became independent from Egypt when an Ethiopian patriarch was elected (Ethiopian) It most be noted that although the Ethiopian Orthodox church and associated teachings are accepted by the Rastafarian community all other christian denominations are rejected. Quasi Contracts INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS: Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract. This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT: The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for jus naturale . Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v. Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy. Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views were challenged.
