•Decade – a period of ten years, e.g. 1930-1939
(the 1930s).
• Century – a period of one hundred years, e.g.

century).
• Chronology – this means to place events in the

Locating sources
It can be difficult for historians
to locate primary sources.
• Objects (artefacts) are found
in museums.
• Archives– this is a building
specially used for storing old
documents, public records and
old newspapers.

  • 8. Periods of time: •Decade – a period of ten years, e.g. 1930-1939 (the 1930s). • Century – a period of one hundred years, e.g. 1900-1999 (the 20th century). • Chronology – this means to place events in the correct order.
  • 12. Source: a historian has to gather evidence from sources to help them to understand the past. There are two types of sources, primary and secondary. The Historian’s sources:
