It is with great pride, honor and appreciation to
present to you a copy of the original narrative report
which is a compilation of hardships in various academic
struggles, experiences and major accomplishments most
especially to the In Campus and Off Campus On the Job
Training (OJT) for the degree of Bachelor of Science in
Industrial Technology (BSIT) major in Computer Technology
which rendered with joy, perseverance and determination in
order to gain more knowledge, skills and attitudes in
actual work which are vital for professional development
and work ethics. It has also the statements of appreciation
and expressions of gratitude that truly give more beautiful
meanings to all struggles and success.

Gratefulness is the sweetest memory that keeps one’s

INTRODUCTION
Surigao del Sur State University Cagwait Campus,
Cagwait, Surigao del Sur is one of the state universities
in Caraga Region and in the province of Surigao del Sur
which is permitted by the Commission in Higher Education
(CHED) to offer Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Technology with different majors in Computer Technology,
Automotive Technology, Food Technology, Electrical
Technology.
At present, Surigao del Sur del Sur State University
Cagwait Campus, has its enrollees of Bachelor of Science in
Industrial Technology who are majoring Computer Technology
and has a highest number of enrollees among other majors of
Bachelor Science In Industrial Technology since it was a
Surigao del Sur State Polytechnic State College. This
indicates further that Computer Technology is one of the
most in demand major fields in terms of Industrial
Technology.

THE COURSE
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology
curriculum imparts a body of knowledge, skills, attitudes,
values and experiences that will provide prospective
industrial workers with the necessary competencies
essential for effective technologists.
Industrial Technology is a field of study designed to
prepare technical or technical management-oriented
professionals for gainful employment in business, industry,
education, or government. Graduates in Industrial
Technology will be involved with the application of
theories and concepts found in science, mathematics, and
the humanities. A strong emphasis is placed on
communication and the application of computer and technical
skills.
It is a non-calculus based degree which provides
students with the credentials for promotion within their
field or for a career in industrial technology. In the
program, courses teach methods for improving efficiency and
management.

INTRODUCTION OF THE REPORT
On the Job Training (OJT) is one of the significant
components of every degree and non degree programs; it is
also a vital requirements of every graduating students from
his or her area of concentration. This training is very
objective in order to gain actual work experiences within a
specific period of time. On the Job Training (OJT) is
designed to provide graduating students to learn from a
specific number of tasks within a certain organization in
order that they can apply their knowledge and skills on
technical operations towards works or tasks being assigned.
It also helps them to understand better the work
values or ethics, discipline and professionalism at work.
On the Job Training (OJT) is programmed to become one
of the visible proofs that all graduating students will
have learned something new from his or her specific period
of training that contributes something to the performance
of the company in its level of productivity.

IMPORTANCE OF THE REPORT
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology
program required every student trainee to undergo in and
off Campus on the Job Training, thus, the said training is
very much significant for the enhancement and enrichment of
knowledge and skills of a student trainees and measure the
ability of their knowledge and skills learned at school.
It is also in this training where the student trainees
would learn actual work experiences and gain new knowledge
and skills that can help improve his work performance and
behavior.

Objectives of on the Job Training
The objectives of this practicum for student trainee
include the following:
1. To enable the students to undergo Nine Hundred
Forty (940) hours in order to gain actual industrial
experience form occupation itself thereby enrich their
insights, understanding, and technical-know-how with actual
work and improved their manpower skills through gainful
access to the expertise and facilities available in
industry.
2. To supplement the training in school with those
found in actual industrial set up and to provide the
student with realistic situation for the development of
good work habits, responsibility, initiative, thrift,
cooperativeness and other social values.
3. To provide the students with a more meaningful
training scheme whereby they come acquainted with the
people employed in
Professional occupation and learn to work with them, hence,
developing and understanding of the employer-employee
relationship.

b.1 In-Campus
I started my in campus On the-J0b Training last June
7, 2012 at the SDSSU –Cagwait Campus, Office of the BSIT
Program Chair, SDSSU – Cagwait Campus, supervised by Leizl
O. Pelayo, MIE, During the first day of my OJT, I was
assigned to clean the computer unit and arranged the files
and documents on their proper places, I also encoded my own
OJT logbook sheet and Daily Time Record (DTR). During my in
campus training, I experienced to encode communications
using Microsoft word and spreadsheets in excel. I also
experienced to send communication through e – mail.
I’ve also encoded and printed program, syllabi,
questionnaires, training designs, activity proposals,
activity designs, authority to travel, purchase order and
request, troubleshoot computer and installed SMADAV
Antivirus, and I also experienced on how to photocopy
documents and files. Arranged and classified folders into
their proper places.
As a trainee, it was also my task to observe rules and
regulations, office protocols, policies and anticipate
other errands.

b.2 Off-Campus
I started my off campus on-the-job training on
November 22, 2012, at Office of the Municipal Vice Mayor,
Cagwait, Surigao del Sur,
On Nov.22, 2012, the Board Secretary, Solotora C.
Abellar, OIC during that time, gave lecture on the rules
and regulations, office protocols of the said office. After
orientation, I started my first day of my on-the-job
training at the office of Municipal Vice Mayor. My first
tasks were cleaning the office, accepting incoming
communications, recording of outgoing communications.
I learned a lot of things that I’ve never experienced
before especially on office protocols. I always attended on
time in my office with the same routines and works.
My Off Campus On the Job Training at the Office of the
Municipal Vice Mayor ended last November 29, 2012 due to
financial problem. I continued my off campus training at
Unidad National High School, Unidad, Cagwait, Surigao del
Sur
On December 03, 2012, I started my Off Campus training
at Unidad National High School, Unidad, Cagwait, Surigao
del Sur During my first day , The School Principal, Nerissa
F. Therry gave some important orientations and job

descriptions, after that, She assigned me to encode
documents using Microsoft word and spreadsheets in MS
excel, I have also experienced and learned how to send
communication thru e – mail, I also experienced to mentor
students in using Windows Movie Maker, PowerPoint
presentations, MS word, and Internet.
I have also troubleshot computers at the Computer
Laboratory II and Office of the Supply Custodian, and I
have assigned to track the late hours, minutes, under time
and leave of absences of the faculty and Staff, I also
learned to use scanner in scanning documents,
I was also tasked to go to the Division Office to
submit reports. And I also troubleshot printers and
assisted the students in printing their documents; I also
experienced on how to photocopy reports and documents and
also downloaded pictures, documents, and anticipate other
errands.
As a trainee, it was also my tasks to consistently
observe the rules and regulations, office protocols and
policies and learned to work confidently, diligently and
religiously.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) it refers to an
electronic circuit control system with surge suppressor
(Charles, 1993).
CPU (Central Processing Unit). It refers to main function
is to perform arithmetic and logical operations on the data
taken from the primary storage or on information entered
through any input device (Charles, 1993).
DATA. It refers to the facts, text, graphics, images, sound
and video segments that have meaning in the user’s
environment (Hopper, Prescott, Mc Fadder, 2002).
DIAGNOSE. It refers to recognition of a problem; a formal
statement of the decision reached in identifying a problem
(Webster Dictionary, 1992).
DISK/DISK DRIVE. It refers to a hardware on which you can
store files and folders; it has assigned a letter; for hard

drive is known as (C :), for floppy drive (A :) and for CD
ROM drive (D :)(Seril, et al., 2002).
HARDWARE. It refers to the physical components or
equipments of a computer system consisting of input
devices, output devices, storage media and secondary
storage (Seril, et al., 2002).
MS Word (Microsoft Word). This refers to word-processing
application software for manipulating text-based documents
(Seril et al., 2002).
MS Excel (Microsoft Excel). This refers to a spreadsheet
application in the MS Office Suite, it is an accounting
program for the computer, primarily used to work with
numbers and text (Seril et al., 2002).
SOFTWARE. It refers to the set of instructions or programs
that tell the computer how to perform a specific task
(Seril et al., 2002).
TEMPLATE. This refers to a workbook that is used as the
basis for other workbooks and worksheet (Ulrich, 2002).
TROUBLESHOOT. These refer to the isolation of a problem in
a program, computer system, or network and remedy it
(Ulrich, 2002).

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE GAINED
I have gained knowledge and skills during my in and
off on the job training. These include: troubleshooting
computer and printer, scanning flash drives and documents,
encoding and printing documents, sending email, mentoring
students, office protocols, and downloading and uploading
documents and pictures
I also learned how to download pictures from digital
camera to computer.
I also encountered and learned office operation like
step by step processing of papers from the different
departments or offices.
I learned much in encoding, printing, checking and
recording of documents and most of all respect other
employees, enjoy and love your work.
As a trainee, I learned to be more patient, more
confident, more disciplined, more open minded, and more
hardworking.

Summary
My In and off campus On the Job Training (OJT)
experiences were very exciting, challenging and memorable.
I had a lot of unexpected experiences in my off campus on
the job training. I gained some knowledge and skills that
really improved my ability in actual works.
On the Job Training is also a strategic way of
evaluating, testing, and monitoring process of the
performance of the student trainees in order to become
equipped and skilled workers on their respective field of
specialization.
It is also in this training that all of the graduating
students will be given once in a lifetime opportunities to
gain more and learn better.

Conclusion
In my 998 hours In and Off On the Job Training (OJT), I
encountered some difficulties especially when I experienced
and encountered financial problem and stressed on the daily
assignments, tasks, and other errands. However, I’ve done
it all successfully with confidence, patience, open-
mindedness and hard work every time. These things that
happened to me in the midst of my in and Off Campus
Training will be my source of memorable experiences.
I would like also to recommend that all BSIT students
that they will undergo In and Off Campus On The Job
Training to experience the real world of work in attaining
and achieving the actualization and goal of his work and
training.
