                                   CHAPTER 5

          Summary of Findings, Conclusions, and Recommendations

     This     chapter   presents    the   summary     or   the   research   work

undertaken, the conclusions drawn and the recommendations made as

an outgrowth of this study.           This study is on the profile and

performance evaluations of Filipino Tour Guide as Perceived by

Local Tourist.


     On the Tourist and Tour Guide profile were age, sex, civil

status,    educational     qualifications,      and    in-service    trainings

attended were undertaken.


Summary of Findings

     The salient findings of the study are as follows:


     1. How do the local tourists assess the Filipino Tour Guides

in terms of:


     1.1 Personality


     The local tourists assessed the Filipino Tour Guides in terms

of Personality as Outstanding with weighted mean of 4.44.


     1.2 Communication Skills

        The local tourists assessed the Filipino Tour Guide in terms

of Communication Skills as Very Good with weighted mean of 3.49.


        1.3 Technical Skills


        The local tourist perceived the Filipino Tour Guide in terms

of Technical Skills as Good with weighted mean of 4.49.


        2. Is there a significant difference on perception of the

local    tourist    to     the   Filipino   Tour    Guides      using    the    above

mentioned variables?


        The   overall     computed   t-value   of   0.71   is    lower    than      the

critical value of 1.645 at 0.05 percent level of significance with

48 degrees of the freedom. It was interpreted as not significant

therefore, the hypothesis is accepted.


Conclusions


        Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions

are drawn:


  1. The researchers conclude that the Filipino tour guide

        should     have    enough    skills    and    knowledge         to     be   an

        effective leader.

  2. The   researchers      conclude      that    the   two    groups    of

    respondents      have    the   same    perception     of    what    they

    observed with their tour guides when it comes to the

    above mentioned variables.

  3. The researchers then conclude that the tourists do not

    mind the attitude of the Filipino Tour Guides as being

    Tactful.

Recommendation

    Based on the findings and conclusions presented, the

following recommendations are suggested:


  1. The researchers recommend that the Filipino Tour Guides

    should improve their personality especially with their

    grooming,     personal     hygiene,     professional       appearance,

    and flexibility so that the tourists will be convinced

    to patronize their product or will recommend them to

    their friends and will conduct a tour with the Filipino

    Tour Guides of Intramuros, Manila.

  2. The researchers recommend that the Filipino Tour Guides

    have enough skills and knowledge for them to do well in

  their assigned jobs and duties. The tour Guide also use

  of highfalutin words often times, they need to improve

  this Technical Skill for them to attract or encourage

  tourists to listen.

3. The researchers recommend that the Filipino Tour Guides

  should lessen their tactfulness so that the tourists

  will   come   again.    And   instead    of   being    tactful,   the

  researchers recommends to the Filipino Tour Guide to

  improve their politeness.
