Social Emotional And Executive Function Defects
Through the decades, researchers have tried to solve the mystery of the enigmatic prefrontal cortex.
Along with the famous case of Phineas Gage (Harlow,1848), many studies have attempted to
answer the burning question of either or not lesions to the prefrontal cortex lead to an antisocial
behavior. The PFC, which is found in the frontal lobeand has an executive function, helps us have
an appropriate response to social situations. Why is it important to study this matter? Because we
are social creatures and knowing how to act in society is one of our basic needs. The studies
which will be presented show that there is an obvious link between dysfunction of the PFC and an
antisocial way of acting.
In the developmental neuropsychology literature, it has been proved that social emotional and
executive function defects are associated with early damage to the PFC. Piaget (1968) claimed that
children learn from experience and this is the way in which they obtain adaptive characteristics.
Therefore, studying patients such as children can give a lot of information about the effect of brain
maturation and social development.
The study conducted by Eslinger(2004) reveals 10 cases of patients suffering from early prefrontal
cortex damage highlighting one of the most informative cases available in the literature on human
prefrontal lobe damage , the case of Acherly and Benton(1948). JP, the person who was being
studied, is particularly important because he was observed for a long

The Significance of Cultural Differences for Foreign...
Introduction:
My essay is about significance of cultural differences for international companies which want to set
up a business in China. To do a clearly demonstration, I break it down into 3 parts: First is an
example that the culture differences affect international companies in China; Second is the
significance of these cultural differences; Third is how the companies would overcome them.
For the first part, there will be examples of international companies which set up a business in China
. As we know, since China joined the WTO in 2001, many foreign companies were attracted by
China s huge market and lower labour cost. But some of them experienced hard times when they
came into Chinese market. The unfamiliar of the cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Then, in the following part, I will give a more clearly demonstration based on real evidence and
shows what are the China s specificity and why the culture differences is significance for
international companies in China.
Significance of cultural differences in China
Culture is a very widely identity. For a company, we usually consider two main parts: the national
culture, and the corporate culture. So when talk about Chinese culture s influence to international
firms, I will include both Chinese national culture and Chinese corporate culture.
For Chinese national culture, we need to consider many parts, such as the philosophy. Because of
the long history, China has formed very complete and complicated philosophy, which has a great
different from western countries. Some traditional ideas are still kept in every Chinese people s
mind. A simple example is the advertisement of McDonalds mentioned above. Kneel down in
China could never be a joke or used in an advertisement. Because of the influence of Confucianism,
Chinese people in some parts are more conventional than western people. Some things which have
a strong sex and violence implication may be forbidden by the government. The Techcn website
(2009) [6] has showed that one of the reasons why Google suffer from a failure in China in 2007
is the Chinese most powerful media CCTV made it public that Google can link

Studying the Effects of Nanofluid as a Coolant Essay
INTRODUCTION
1.1Problem Statement
The whole outline of this project is to investigate the effect on heat transfer rate in a shell and tube
heat exchanger when nanofluids are used as coolant (cooler medium). Computational Fluid
Dynamics aids the research due to the complexity involved such as the flow structure and
temperature distribution.
1.2Significance of the Study
The main focus of this project is to study the effects of varying nanofluids as coolant on heat
transfer rate using CFD with constant shell and tube heat exchanger model. I am pursuing this
study to find more efficient way of heat removal using nanofluids as the cooling medium. All
leakage and bypass stream in the heat exchanger do not exist or are negligible in this ... Show more

Shell and tube heat exchanger are usually used for higher pressure applications up to 552 bars.
2.2 Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger
Shell and tube heat exchangers are probably the most widespread and commonly used basic heat
exchanger configuration used in the process industries. This is because shell and tube heat
exchanger provides a larger ratio of heat transfer area to volume and weight. Its provide this
surface in a form which is relatively easy to construct in a wide range of size and which is
mechanically rugged enough to withstand normal shop fabrication stresses, shipping and field
erection stresses, and normal operating conditions. Moreover there are many medication of the
basic configuration is available to solve special problems. Those components that most subject to
failure (gaskets and tubes) can be easily replaced and cleaned. Finally, good design methods exist
and the expertise and shop facilities are available throughout the world.
2.2.1 Shell and Tube Exchanger: Geometric Terminology
The vital components of a shell and tube exchanger are shown in Figure 2 a, b and c and
described in Table 1. Figure 2. Type BEM, CFU and AES exchangers. 1988 by Tubular Exchanger

Selecting A Health Care Provider Summary
Chapter One
Selecting a Health Care Provider
At no time should a patient feel uneasy with the treatment they receive, or the overall environment
of the facility they are visiting. All staff should address concerns with a professional approach.
According to Issidoros Sarinopoulos, Ph.D., a professor of radiology at Michigan State University,
Patients should pay attention to how their doctor makes them feel and recognize empathy as a
desirable characteristic in a physician.
A Good Healthcare Provider Does the Following:
Treats all questions and concerns with respect
Responds in a timely manner
Reserves judgement
Asks permission before any testing is performed
Approaches office visits with an unrushed setting

At no time should you feel unable to maintain your own well being due to judgement from medical
providers. Today s medical school graduates have had more training on sexual health than their
more established counterparts, but it is still possible to encounter a doctor who lacks a thorough
approach to patient sexual health.
Chapter 2
Preventative Sexual Health Services
Preventative services include vaccines, screenings for transmitted diseases and infections and
counseling to assist in making health minded decisions. Regardless of one s ability to pay for
preventative services, they have a right to these services through community organizations.
However, not all communities offer comprehensive preventative sexual health services at no cost or
low cost. Research what is available in your area, starting with your local Planned Parenthood
office.
Males should be aware that Planned Parenthood offers reproductive services, general health care,
sexual health services and cancer screenings for men. The company is widely known for their
female sexual health services, but Planned Parenthood also assists males in the following gender
specific areas:
Erectile dysfunction exam, education, treatment and referrals
Male sterilization (vasectomy)

The Rating System Is Entirely Voluntary
The MPAA likes to advertise that their rating system is entirely voluntary. Virtually, their system
is only in place as an informative tool provided to assist parents to conveniently and easily decide
what film will be suitable for their children. In reality, the system as previously discussed,
influence the overall life span of a film. The is no realistic alternative other than going through the
process of receiving a rating by the MPAA, editing the film to their liking or taking your chances
with the appeals board. The members of the MPAA which include Sony Pictures (Sony), Warner

what gave his film an NC 17, .... They really barely lead the horse to water, so it s tough to take a

gave us the NC 17?... This board of individuals is almost like the gatekeeper for all films where
they can decide the fate of a film with a label. As a nation we are being robbed of our right to
choose the films we want to see and have our children see, but as individuals what can we do? As
an individual one might feel overwhelmed when discovering an unsettling aspect that may
affect our lives. One may think to themselves what can only one person do to impact a big
organization? A way that you can take a step towards change is to demand it by using your
power as a consumer. Take your business away from the members of the MPAA until they make
the changes we need and want. Invest in watching films by independent distributers, like
Sundance. In the world of business, the goal is to profit, we as consumers hold that power to
influence where the market goes, so if we are unhappy they must fix it. Once the MPAA realizes
where their market lies they will make changes to meet consumer need. This is a key step towards
change. One individual making a move leads many more to do the same. Movements like the Black

Generalized Anxiety Disorder, DSM V 300.02 (F41.1) is an anxiety disorder characterized by

Constraint Induced Aphasia
After the first year of aphasia resulting from stroke, researchers believe that spontaneous recovery
even with intensive therapies will be unlikely. There are few studies which have documented the
results of post stroke language functions after 12 months. Traditional language therapies also focus
on utilizing compensatory communication strategies with a focus on immediate communication
needs for each patient. Initial strategies used included gesturing, drawing, writing, and AAC
systems with the expectation that these assistive modalities will be decreased as verbal language
function improves. Scientists have begun to question if using these types of techniques could
contribute to a learned non use phenomenon. Thus, this study purposes to discover if restraining
non verbal communication in aphasia patients can result in better verbal language outcomes in the
future.
Constraint induced aphasia therapy (CIAT) focuses on using intensive verbal practice with clinician
guided verbal cuing without the use of other compensatory strategies (ex: naming). Although there
are concerns that limiting communication compensatory strategies could create frustration with

Pharmacist Prescribing History
History of Pharmacist Prescribing
Pharmacist independent prescribing has taken years of planning, review, and discussion, and it has
been a long fought journey from the early days of the 1980s when there has been a trend towards
increasing deregulations of prescription only medicines (POMs) to pharmacy only medicines (P

Lymphoma
Lymphoma is cancer that occurs when cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes, a type of
white blood cell, grow and multiply uncontrollably (Lymphoma.org). Lymphocytes are in the lymph

is the most common blood cancer (Lymphoma.org).
Cancerous lymphocytes can travel to many parts of the body, including the lymph nodes, spleen,
bone marrow, blood, or other organs, and form a mass called a tumor. Lymphocytes are the warriors

Tobacco smoking is the largest single preventable cause of death and disease in Australia
(Cancer Council, 2006). The 2003 Australian Burden of disease study considers tobacco
smoking as a leading cause of disease burden in Australia (Begg S, 2003). Anti Cancer Council
of Australia conducted its first national survey which shows that during the middle of last
century, large numbers of males aged 16 and over were smokers and compared to females.
However, in the following decades, the prevalence of smoking decreased among males due to
publicity regarding health effects of smoking which first started in 1950s and early 1960s (Gray N

risk associated with smoking. Australia has been considered as a world s leader in production and
broadcasting of mass media campaigns to reduce smoking and first employed tobacco control mass

conducted in Sydney and Melbourne (Pierce JP, 1986) . During the first year of the campaign,
Sydney showed a marked decrease of 2.5 % in prevalence of smoking rate (Dwyer T, 1986). A
similar result was seen in Melbourne campaign in its first year of campaign. This decline

smokers to quit smoking and in reducing the uptake of smoking among children.

Wireless Communications: Explosive Growth.
Explosive growth of wireless communications technology continues as the industry experiences
new subscribers and lower prices for services. The U.S. market had 100 million wireless
subscribers in year 2000, a 16.2 percent rise from 1999 of 86 million. In 1993, there were only
16 million wireless subscribers, a rise of 525 percent rise in subscribers over 7 years. Market
penetration rose 33 percent in 2000. In 1993, market penetration was only 6 percent. The explosive
growth can largely be attributed to intensive competition which forces prices down and increase
cellular phone usage. In fact, the market for wireless voice services is becoming mature. Growth
rates and heavy competition are restricting profit margins.
The U.S. telecommunications services industry will continue to expand in 2001. The popularity of
wireless phones has increased the demand for wireless cellular telephone service and reduced the
demand for in building wired phones. Approximately 50 percent of the population has access to a

A divided country of the Syrian government and rebels has caused horrific acts. Acts that the
president of the United States deemed necessary for military retaliation. That has sparked the
debate on if it was not only justified but ethical to launch tomahawk missiles into war torn parts of
Syria. In an article on the Huffington Post, Dr. Helen Ouyang argues that it was justified and that
military intervention is needed. She uses different forms of arguments to draw comparisons of

Dr. Ouyang uses many value based arguments and with a morally questionable topic, the strategy
makes sense. In paragraph two, Dr. Ouyang states, This is why to me, the issue in question is not
necessarily whether chemical weapons were used, but what the intentions of Assad s regime is,
what has happened thus far to the innocent, and what is likely to happen in the future. She
acknowledges that there is no question that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons so that is
not what the disagreement should be about. In the following paragraph, she speaks about all of the
arguments against military involvement. She ends the paragraph by stating that despite the reasons
not to be involved, she can t turn [her] back on the 110,000 who have died and the six million more
who have fled their homes. By stating the opposing arguments, labeling them as sound, and refuting
them by stating that her moral obligation is more critical, she is using a value based argument.
Basically, she says that although we see that the military involvement may be similar to past
failures, our moral decision is more serious. Later in the article, she even calls to the use of
abstract values. She claims that we should not use military intervention because of the vast reasons
many Americans think we should such as punishing Assad or to send a message. Instead, she says
that we should do it for the lesser known reason to stop the mass killings and crimes

According to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense James R. Blaker, military bases are
installations routinely used by military forces that supply their personnel with the means and
equipment to respond to a threat within the land it occupies (The Editors, 2011). As the world s
only superpower, the US possesses more military bases in foreign countries than any other state in
the entire world. In the year 2015, it was reported that the US had approximately 800 military
bases in more than 70 countries worldwide (Vine, 2015). By projecting power abroad, the US

To answer this we must look at the stability and political environments that encompass a state
because they play a large role in the ability of other actors to occupy land that it controls. For this
reason, the US should only associate with countries that follow their same beliefs. The US must be
cautious as to what countries that they decide to ally themselves with in order to analyze potential
political outcomes (Lostumbo, Michael J., McNerney, Michael J., Peltz, Eric, 2013). Factors that
can play a role can include a countries economic growth, annual GDP, or if there is ethnic conflict
within the territory. If analyzed in an efficient way, the argument can be made to allow for the

Missing White Woman Syndrome Summary
The disappearance and death of Maylin has created an awareness of not only her disappearance,
but of many other Latina s who have gone missing. This article states that missing Latina s are
not getting the news coverage they deserve. It also talks about how white women are innocent
victims in disappearance scenarios, whereas black women and Latina s are involved in activities
that in some form lead to their kidnapping and death. This article explains how more news
coverage on missing women of color could make a difference in whether they are found alive or
dead. This is something that is true because the more the public is informed on missing people
the more they will be able to help out with these cases. This article is relevant to my topic
because it will help support my claim on the lack of news coverage of missing women of color.
Missing White Woman Syndrome is described as the extensive media coverage missing white
females receive. In many cases these missing women are rich, attractive, and young. This article
states that there are missing children who are non white who do not get the media attention that
white children get. A reason for this is because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times news coverage is slanted due to framing. This is magnifying or minimizing coverage
based on such factors as a woman s youth, beauty, and occupation. Although there is an obvious
difference between media coverage on white females and females of color, it is not intentional.
This article states that the news does not equally present information on missing victims of color.
Women who are white often have their family members describe the person they were, but many
times women of color do not get this. This source will be helpful in writing my research essay on
the differences in reports of missing white women and

Fear Of Madness In Hamlet
Madness, and fear of madness, are the driving factors behind the plot and character interactions
in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. By the end of the play, almost every main character
ends up dead as a result of the hysteria or indecisiveness of other characters. As more and more
tragic events and countless deaths occur, each character is forced to find a coping mechanism.
Some succumb to the pressure, like Ophelia, who goes mad and drowns after her father dies, but
others attempt to hide the effect the pressure has on them, like King Claudius. A deeper
examination of Claudius s emotions and behaviors reveal that his psychological state is in truth
severely damaged and has taken a toll on his actions.
After killing his brother, King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He diagnoses this disease as Hamlet and attempts to cure himself by sending the Prince to
execution in England. ... The King is very violently affected by this play (Alexander). Unable to
deal with his own guilt and grief after murdering his brother, Claudius instead finds a scapegoat
to convince himself he has done nothing wrong. He accuses Hamlet of being mad, yet there is
madness that lies within himself. The burden of holding in the horrible action he has committed
has begun to take a toll on his well being, and the audience is finally given a glimpse into
Claudius s emotions after The Murder of Gonzago, when he attempts to pray: Pray can I not.
Though inclination be as sharp as will, my stronger guilt defeats my strong intent (3.3.42 44). The
fact that there is nothing Claudius can ever do to truly make up for what he has done finally
catches up to him, but he instead ends up using this as motivation for pursuing Hamlet s murder.
The more Hamlet pushes his buttons, the more Claudius increasingly responds with coercion and
eventually force (Keener). Every move Hamlet makes serves to convince Claudius that he is mad
and a threat that needs controlling. Claudius convinces others around him that stopping Hamlet s
madness is for the safety of the people, yet it is mainly

Bullying can be describes as an aggressive behavior from an individual that feels the need to
overpower, and control others, whether physically or mentally. The term bullying is thrown
around a bit excessively these days that we go to extremes when we hear the word, we either
ignore it completely or we go off the handle and want to stamp everyone as a bully. As a society
we have become desensitized to term while at the same time trying to stay politically correct, in
other words we tend to look the other way, but when approached by others about it we try to save

Children and even adults have this pressure to look a certain way; boys are judged on a daily

how society has tremendously changed in physical appearance and the idea on how men and

consequences, and what can be done to resolve this. Schools all around America are already busy

The Rights Of Gays And The Homosexual Agenda
In March of 2009, at the Hotel Triangle in Kampala, Uganda, Scott Lively, an American attorney
and activist and the president of Abiding Truth Ministries, a conservative Christian organization,
delivered a speech that was to have a drastic effect on the human rights of gays and lesbians in
Uganda. The speech, given at an anti gayconference titled Exposing the Truth behind
Homosexualityand the Homosexual Agenda , linked homosexuality with child molestation and the
destruction of African families and laid the foundation for what was to become a virulently
homophobic movement in Uganda. This religious crusade against the rights of gays and lesbians
culminated in an oppressive law, passed in 2014 and recently struck down on a technicality by a
Ugandan court that, in its original form, made homosexual acts punishable by death. This paper
examines the roots and language of the law and the connection between its passage and American
evangelical efforts in Uganda, as well as the distorting influence of Scott Lively and a lawsuit
brought against him for human rightsviolations. Lively is an attorney, activist, and candidate for the
2014 Massachusetts governorship, as well as a published author (most notably of The Pink
Swastika, a thoroughly discredited history that argues that homosexuality was the root cause of the
Holocaust). He is the pastor and president of Abiding Truth Ministries, a church based in

A Business Plan For A Team
Introduction Every new business commences with a concept or thought or an idea. For instance,
an entrepreneur may be knowledgeable and passionate about something, or maybe there is an
urge to fill a gap in the marketplace and therefore turn the thought into a business. In order to
make this business idea work perfectly, it is necessary to carry out market research, write a
business plan including realistic projections, target the right market and prospects and develop
an effective team to support. A team is a group of individual coming together so as to achieve a
common goal. However there are different types of a team member that are essential in creating
a new entrepreneurial venture, such as the shapers, chairperson, monitor evaluator, company
worker, team worker, et al. All these personalities and diversities are needed in an organization to

Five Pillars Of Islam And Islam
Five Pillars of Islam All great things are built on a solid and strong foundation. The religion of
Islam is no different. The foundation on which Islam was built is known as The Five Pillars of
Islam. These are the essential duties that are required of all Muslims. The pillars are the shahadah
(declaration of faith), salah (establishment of the five ritual prayers), zakah (almsgiving), sawm
(fasting the month of Ramadan), and hajj (pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca). These five pillars
are in the central religious text of Islam, the Qur an, and are presented as the framework for
worship and a sign of commitment to faith (Esposito, Pillars of Islam ). The pillars are often
compared to a creed such as those seen in Christianity. While the two are similar in regards to the
first pillar, they differ in that the five pillars of Islamare acts or practices that Muslims must perform
while a creed, as defined by Merriam Webster dictionary, is a brief authoritative formula of
religious belief. Shahadah, salah, zakah, sawm, and hajj are the five obligations all Muslims have
to satisfy to live a respectable life according to Islam. They are the framework and foundation of a
Muslim s life. The first pillar, shahadah, is the declaration of faith. La ilaha illa Allah wa
Muhammadrasul Allah . This translates to There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet
of Allah. This is the shahadah. All faithful Muslims recite this and one must recite this sincerely,

Marine biology is the scientific study of aquatic organisms, their characteristics and behaviors
[1]. Even though everyone on the planet is aware of the fact that about 70 percent of the Earth s
surface is covered with water, it is believed that only 5 to 10 percent of the oceans have been
explored yet [1]. There are hundreds of thousands of marine creatures that can be found underwater
with unique features. Ocean life is very diverse and is categorized into different groups, such as
sharks, mammals, reptiles etc. Of them, whales fall into the category of mammals and are

The most common of these is the blue whale. Being the largest animal on the Earth, blue whale
has a length of around 100 feet and weighs around 150 tons [3]. Their tongue alone can weigh as

light spots on it. They usually swim with the speed of 5 miles per hour, but can make it up to 30
miles per hour when required. They sleep while sleeping and at this time they use only half of
their brain [3]. Examples of toothed whales include the sperm whale, killer whale, bottlenose
whale, and other species of dolphins. Of these, the most common is killer whale. Killer whales are
considered as the biggest dolphin on the planet as they measure up to 26 feet. They are highly
intelligent and social creatures. They are named as killer because they kill other whales, and not

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in
the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall
in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was

(Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how
Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components
with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product
quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to
aby with, and once met the product may be produced. As a consumer there is nothing more
important than a products quality and reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save

Persuasive Essay Homework
Have you ever heard a the bell go off signaling the end of the school day and you just want to get
home and relax, but you remember you have a ton of homework to do? This constantly happens to
me all the time. A lot times I get homework from multiple classes all in one day. Often after school
I have sports which already takes up enough time. Usually I get my assignments turned in on time,
but to the expense of spending time with friends or family. Sometimes when I get home and start
doing my homeworkI might struggle with the topic and there isn t a teacher there to help me, so I m
left trying to search for websites that might help me or ask my parents to help. Having
homework on a daily basis is causing problems for me, and I think incorporating time in the
school day can really help in solving this issue. There are many causes to this problem. First of
all many teacher feel that they need to give homework to see if a student understands the lesson
they are on. I understand why teachers give homework for this reason however there are many
other ways of tracking a students understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions
at the beginning of class. Another reason for homework is there isn t enough dedicated time to
do work at school. Teachers use homework to use for students grades. There are many reasons
for students receiving homework, but receiving little to no homework could really be beneficial
to students. Getting large amount of homework has negatively affected me in many ways. In Is
to Much Homework Bad For Kid s Health? By Sandra Levy, it states communities who spend too
much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance in
their lives, and alienation from society. I find that homework causes me a lot of stress. Many
days I find myself up late at night trying to complete homework, and this causes a lot of stress.
The next day when I go to school I m tired and get even more stressed. When I spend time doing
homework outside of school I spend less with family and friends. I often have trouble with
balancing homework, time with family, and athletics. To succeed in the future you need to learn the
skill of balancing things, but it s hard to learn it

Rent Control Of The United States

Economics 2

Rent Control in the United States
Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a
tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while
people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is
so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through
government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are
not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control
was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the
economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following
the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of
the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and
it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship
between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). The war
was a reason because the wives of the soldiers acquired jobs in manufacturing plants, factories, and
other places. This caused a surge in population, which then increased the demand for housing
accommodations near places of

Trench Warfare In The Trenches
During World War I most of the fighting was done on land where it was solider versus solider
and the one who could withstand the pressure of the trenches the longest would win. Trench
warfare was completely accidental and the fighting was supposed to go as quick as possible
where your troops would be in and out then they could all go home; what ended up happening was
one of the world s longest stalemates where both sides dug in their boots and held their ground for
as long as they could. However many things changed trench warfaresuch as: no man s land, tanks,
machine guns, gas, grenades, and shelling. There were horrors far worse than the ones seen in
the trenches though, because between the trenches the lined there land and the enemies was a
place known as no man s land. No man s land was the stretch of land between one sides trenches
and the others. This land is described as the worst place to be if you were in the war. No man s land
was full of dead bodies from both sides as neither side was able to reach the bodies of their men; so
there bodies just laid there rotting and decomposing because no one was able to get their... Show

piece in this program was Sonata in D Major, K. 381 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
. This work was
composed during the year of 1772 after Mozart s return to Italy for the opening of his new opera.
The work was written to be played by two sets of hands, Mozart and his sister, Nanneri. The
arrangement was composed in D major. This is an Italian polyphonic piece written in the classical
style. There are three movements in the work. The first movement, titled Allegro is played with at

Romeo Juliet Comparison
Romeo and Juliet Often people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are
correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet written centuries ago can be
better than any movie productions of Romeo and Juliet, which had much better technology to
work with. Although the films appeared more appealing, they left out some major parts. The
play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better
presentation. This speech will prove why William Shakespeare s original play should be taught
to students rather than any film versions. One major difference between the play and the movie
occurs in the mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play,
Romeo and Juliet act very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo
says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act 2, Scene 6)
which is a very intelligent thing to say. Whereas, in the movie they kiss and giggle the entire
time. This leads the viewer to believe that film versions wanted the two to look like fools, that
they could not do anything the way it is normally done because they are children in search of
quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In real life, young adults would take the
matter seriously because they know it is a major step in life. Because the play is not entirely trying
to make the two look bad, it is the better production.

Sacrifice Of Animals In War Essay
Introduction You might know that humans are dying in wars, but show some love to the
animals that sacrifice their lives as well! Imagine that you were taken out of college or taken out

anxiety YOU have from the bullets zooming across your face, hoping that YOU would be alive
and in one piece. Doesn t that sound scary to you? This is what military animals have to live by.
They are thrown into training and when they are old enough to be in battle, they don t have the
voice to say a simple No. if they had the choice to be in war. Indeed, military animals have saved
countless amount of lives and have truly change the outcome of war, but is this all worth the
sacrifice? The sacrifice of bringing your best friend that grew a bond with you and have the
chance to die in front of you? Many people will believe that animals should be used in the
modern warfare because history shows that animals like the messenger pigeon has delivered many
messages that soldiers has wrote about the locations of enemy lines. While other people believe
that animals shouldn t be in war because it will traumatize the animal. In this paper I will present
alternative position on the topic of animals that are used in the modern warfare, considering a

typical heroic tropes that go beyond the gender norm of saving a damsel in distress and fairy tale
archetypes. For students, this could be known as The Heroic Cycles that are often found in the
fantasy genre (Thomas 60). The hero is usually an orphan, disposing of inconvenient parental
monitoring. He or she is sent on a great quest of great importance... He or she meets up with a
wise person, reflecting the desire of students for guidance. The hero confronts and conquers the
evil foe (60). In J. K. Rowling s famous series and Chris Columbus film... Show more content on

The novel depicts the alienation, the teasing and abuse he receives from the Dursley s and from
his muggle school in length but the film cuts it out and only represents Harry s current life with
his muggle family. Though film often acts like the viewer is watching an historical reenactment
of a literary work, but Nel argues that [t]he movie was not enough like the book and, at the same
time, very much like the book (172). True, the film does not explain the themes that were
already discussed and introduces the film at the zoo but the film interestingly introduces the
magic world to Harry [played by Daniel Radcliff] through the use of absurdities and fun. It
presents the magic world in a more whimsical manner that modern muggles would not
realistically dream of. For instance, the scene of the owl infestation at the Dursley s home when
the Hogwarts letters were not being delivered is not mentioned in the novel and is an added
creative twist to the film. It also presents one of Hogwarts symbols of the owl delivery system and
at the same time, it may also foreshadow the animal companion to the hero. Though the novel
presents this scene with whimsical descriptions, the film portrays magic in a manner that is absurd
and entertaining to the audience and Harry as well. But his call to the hero s cycle begins when he
first finds out that he is a Wizard. When Harry

What Is The Reflection In The Nature Of Things By...
Lucretius in The Nature of Things explains that there are only two entities that make up bodies in
the universe: matter and void. Matter is ever present and does not decay while the void is a
nothingness that allows for motion and change. Marcus Aurelius in Meditations explains that
matter and the soul are the components of the universe, with the soul in some sense filling the void.
Lucretius void has a correlation to Aurelius soul. Both philosophers explain how the concept of the
void is responsible and related to death, because it allows for disturbances to the balance within the
being. Lucretius believes that the void is the cause of death, yet questions whether the soul travels
with it. Aurelius questions how the soul can remain after death. Death is an abstract concept that
Lucretius and Aurelius attempt to answer through matterand voids. Lucretius calls the void a
nothingness, which is always empty, and matter a solidthat is free of any void. Aurelius has an
essence of somethingness to his void, the soul, and calls matter a static body. By adding the soul
as a third component to reality, the Stoic Marcus Aurelius rejects the binary universe of
Lucretius. Matter is defined by Lucretius as a primordial entity free of void and decay; they are
the atoms that create entities. Atoms and primordial entities are synonymous with each other:
the solidity of matter is called procreant atoms, matter, seeds of things, or primal bodies, as
primal to the world (107 108). Lucretius uses all these words, emphasizing the simplicity of his
philosophy. This simplicity is explained as he declares: primal bodies are solid, without a void
(596). Because he believes that all entities are composed of primal bodies and a void, the primal
body must be free of any void, thus giving substance to the object. He declares that entities are
composed: partly primal germs of things, and partly unions deriving from the primal germs (566
567). This definition states that all matter consists of atoms, which, when combined, form
molecules. Molecules, as defined by science, are the unions of atoms. This scientific principal is
further explained: So primal germs have solid singleness, which tightly packed and closely

1960 s Respect
Respect is a word that is commonly associated with words like dignity, recognition, and
consideration. The 1960 s was a generation seeking these qualities throughout both exceptional and
dreadful events, that occurred in this time period that was becoming a culture of respect. Whether
society was trying to earn respectfor their rights that they honestly deserve it was a time of
standing up and fighting for what you regard as important. Similarly to the youth of the 1920 s,
adolescents of the 60 s fought against the conservative cultures of the older generation. They
provoked change by starting movements such as the Kent State protests, to reach out to Americans
so that their opinions would be more understood. While it was an era of peace,... Show more content

The rights of African Americans have been violated and abused ever since slavery was
abolished in 1863. This operation for equal rights was a battle, fought by two black activist
groups. One group was nonviolent and wanted peace, the other was the opposite, very willing to
become violent to succeed in the battle for equality. The group that demanded change by
threatening violent activity was lead by Malcolm X. He believed that if they weren t given the
equality that they demanded, that they should just take it. Nobody can give you freedom.
Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you re a man, you take it , he believed
that violence and force was the most effective way of getting what they wanted. As history has
shown us though the nonviolent protests, lead by Martin Luther King was more effective and
made an impact on the outcome of the civil rights movement. He was inspired by some of the
greatest nonviolent advocates of history, for instance Mahatma Gandhi. King wanted to help
African Americans reach equality, by helping the less fortunate and the victims of injustice. He did
this by peaceful protests, like the march on Washington, one of the largest political rallies ever
seen. King marched for jobs and freedoms of African Americans, on August 28, 1963. At
Washington King delivered his famous I have a dream speech , where he talks about racial justice

  • 2. Social Emotional And Executive Function Defects Through the decades, researchers have tried to solve the mystery of the enigmatic prefrontal cortex. Along with the famous case of Phineas Gage (Harlow,1848), many studies have attempted to answer the burning question of either or not lesions to the prefrontal cortex lead to an antisocial behavior. The PFC, which is found in the frontal lobeand has an executive function, helps us have an appropriate response to social situations. Why is it important to study this matter? Because we are social creatures and knowing how to act in society is one of our basic needs. The studies which will be presented show that there is an obvious link between dysfunction of the PFC and an antisocial way of acting. In the developmental neuropsychology literature, it has been proved that social emotional and executive function defects are associated with early damage to the PFC. Piaget (1968) claimed that children learn from experience and this is the way in which they obtain adaptive characteristics. Therefore, studying patients such as children can give a lot of information about the effect of brain maturation and social development. The study conducted by Eslinger(2004) reveals 10 cases of patients suffering from early prefrontal cortex damage highlighting one of the most informative cases available in the literature on human prefrontal lobe damage , the case of Acherly and Benton(1948). Some succumb to the pressure, like Ophelia, who goes mad and drowns after her father dies, but others attempt to hide the effect the pressure has on them, like King Claudius. A deeper examination of Claudius s emotions and behaviors reveal that his psychological state is in truth severely damaged and has taken a toll on his actions. After killing his brother, King ... The King is very violently affected by this play (Alexander). He accuses Hamlet of being mad, yet there is madness that lies within himself. The burden of holding in the horrible action he has committed has begun to take a toll on his well being, and the audience is finally given a glimpse into Claudius s emotions after The Murder of Gonzago, when he attempts to pray: Pray can I not. Though inclination be as sharp as will, my stronger guilt defeats my strong intent (3.3.42 44). The fact that there is nothing Claudius can ever do to truly make up for what he has done finally catches up to him, but he instead ends up using this as motivation for pursuing Hamlet s murder. The more Hamlet pushes his buttons, the more Claudius increasingly responds with coercion and eventually force (Keener). The Rights Of Gays And The Homosexual Agenda In March of 2009, at the Hotel Triangle in Kampala, Uganda, Scott Lively, an American attorney and activist and the president of Abiding Truth Ministries, a conservative Christian organization, delivered a speech that was to have a drastic effect on the human rights of gays and lesbians in Uganda. The speech, given at an anti gayconference titled Exposing the Truth behind Homosexualityand the Homosexual Agenda , linked homosexuality with child molestation and the destruction of African families and laid the foundation for what was to become a virulently homophobic movement in Uganda. This religious crusade against the rights of gays and lesbians culminated in an oppressive law, passed in 2014 and recently struck down on a technicality by a Ugandan court that, in its original form, made homosexual acts punishable by death. This paper examines the roots and language of the law and the connection between its passage and American evangelical efforts in Uganda, as well as the distorting influence of Scott Lively and a lawsuit brought against him for human rightsviolations. Lively is an attorney, activist, and candidate for the 2014 Massachusetts governorship, as well as a published author (most notably of The Pink Swastika, a thoroughly discredited history that argues that homosexuality was the root cause of the Holocaust). First of all many teacher feel that they need to give homework to see if a student understands the lesson they are on. I understand why teachers give homework for this reason however there are many other ways of tracking a students understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions at the beginning of class. Another reason for homework is there isn t enough dedicated time to do work at school. Teachers use homework to use for students grades. • 37. Rent Control Of The United States Philippe Bouchereau Prof. Kaycea Campbell Economics 2 11 May 2016 Rent Control in the United States Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). • 42. Romeo Juliet Comparison Romeo and Juliet Often people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet written centuries ago can be better than any movie productions of Romeo and Juliet, which had much better technology to work with. Although the films appeared more appealing, they left out some major parts. The play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better presentation. This speech will prove why William Shakespeare s original play should be taught to students rather than any film versions. One major difference between the play and the movie occurs in the mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play, Romeo and Juliet act very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act 2, Scene 6) which is a very intelligent thing to say. Whereas, in the movie they kiss and giggle the entire time. This leads the viewer to believe that film versions wanted the two to look like fools, that they could not do anything the way it is normally done because they are children in search of quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In real life, young adults would take the matter seriously because they know it is a major step in life. Because the play is not entirely trying to make the two look bad, it is the better production. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. What Is The Reflection In The Nature Of Things By... Lucretius in The Nature of Things explains that there are only two entities that make up bodies in the universe: matter and void. Matter is ever present and does not decay while the void is a nothingness that allows for motion and change. Marcus Aurelius in Meditations explains that matter and the soul are the components of the universe, with the soul in some sense filling the void. Lucretius void has a correlation to Aurelius soul. Both philosophers explain how the concept of the void is responsible and related to death, because it allows for disturbances to the balance within the being. Lucretius believes that the void is the cause of death, yet questions whether the soul travels with it. Aurelius questions how the soul can remain after death. Death is an abstract concept that Lucretius and Aurelius attempt to answer through matterand voids. Lucretius calls the void a nothingness, which is always empty, and matter a solidthat is free of any void. Aurelius has an essence of somethingness to his void, the soul, and calls matter a static body. By adding the soul as a third component to reality, the Stoic Marcus Aurelius rejects the binary universe of Lucretius. Matter is defined by Lucretius as a primordial entity free of void and decay; they are the atoms that create entities. Atoms and primordial entities are synonymous with each other: the solidity of matter is called procreant atoms, matter, seeds of things, or primal bodies, as primal to the world (107 108). Lucretius uses all these words, emphasizing the simplicity of his philosophy. This simplicity is explained as he declares: primal bodies are solid, without a void (596). Because he believes that all entities are composed of primal bodies and a void, the primal body must be free of any void, thus giving substance to the object. He declares that entities are composed: partly primal germs of things, and partly unions deriving from the primal germs (566 567). This definition states that all matter consists of atoms, which, when combined, form molecules. Molecules, as defined by science, are the unions of atoms. This scientific principal is further explained: So primal germs have solid singleness, which tightly packed and closely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
