Basically a Molecular plant breeder my focus was on millet breeding programme for the last two decades which has led to the development of high yielding minor millet varieties viz., Ragi (Co(Ra)14),Samai (CO(Samai)4), Panivaragu (CO(Pv)5) and Kudaraivali (CO(Kv)2) which were released for commercial cultivation to the farmers. To introduce and popularize wheat cultivation in non-traditional areas of Tamil Nadu three new tropical wheat varieties were developed in collaboration with IARI Wellington (Bread wheat varieties COW (W) 1, COW3 and the samba wheat variety COW2). Durable rust resistance QTL was identified using genome wide association mapping approach for sustainable wheat cultivation
