This document shows calculations to determine the milliequivalents (mEq) contained in 1 gram of sodium chloride (NaCl). It sets up the calculation of 1 gram of NaCl divided by the molecular weight of NaCl (58.5 grams/mole), and then multiplies this value by 1000 to obtain the number of milliequivalents (17 mEq) contained in 1 gram of NaCl.
