The document analyzes the results of a questionnaire given to a target audience aged 14-16 that was mostly female. It found that the most preferred genres were thriller and action/adventure. Favored films included scary thrillers like Insidious and funny films like We're the Millers. Most respondents preferred a male lead, live action over animation, and characters that counter typical stereotypes. They also preferred a strong, attractive female lead and a narrative-focused opening depicting death, drugs/alcohol, and using music rather than speech. The results confirm and provide guidance for the creator's initial thriller film ideas while also suggesting some changes to better appeal to this target demographic.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2. Our questionnaire was mostly answered by people aging from 14-16, this shows we should
aim our target audience at them and include people of the same age in order for them to
be relatable to the audience.
3. This tells us the respondents of the questionnaire were mostly female, this tells us
that we should be aiming to use female characters in order for them to relate to the
audience.
4. This shows that the genre preferred the most Is thriller, this is surprising as most of the
respondents are female which isn’t usually a genre females tend to enjoy. I was also
surprised at the second most popular, action and adventure. Usually males tend to watch
these genres but this shows that female enjoy a exciting/scary film. We will use these ideas
in order to make a film which will meet our target audience. These do not change my initial
ideas as thriller is one of my genre of film.
5. This tells us that the favoured films tend to be scary thrillers for example insidious and the black
swan, but also funny exciting fun packed films such as we are the millers. This is surprising as
males usually enjoy scary films more than females do. However we are the millers and frozen
doesn’t surprise me as these are the typical films females usually enjoy. Making a thriller film will
meet our target audience however the respondents tend to like funny light hearted films. This
doesn’t change my initial ideas as a thriller film can be these things.
6. A male as the leading role is shown to be most popular, this doesn’t surprise me as it was
mostly answered by females and they would want to watch a male character as the main
part. This changes my ideas as a female main character was to be used, however a male
character will meet the target audience therefore meeting this will suit our audience more.
7. This tells me that the audience like live action films more than animation films. This is
because people usually enjoy a film more when they can relate to them and share the same
thoughts and feelings. This doesn’t change any initial ideas and the film wasn’t going to have
any animation characters in it. This also doesn’t surprise me as the audience aged from 14-
16 where as animation tends to be for the younger audience.
8. In this question It is shown that the audience prefer counter typing to the typical
stereotypes usually shown in films. This means they are more likely to enjoy watching
characters do things they don’t usually do and aren’t normally portrayed as doing. This
doesn’t surprise me as watching the usual stereotypes are common and repetitious. This
does change some ideas however stereotypes weren’t going to be used to much,
countertypes could also be used within the film to make it different and more interesting.
9. This tells us that the audience tend to want a strong, attractive, female leading
character. This does surprise me as mostly females answered the questionnaire
although may want to watch females taking a strong leading role. This doesn’t
change any initial ideas as the leading character was firstly agreed to be female,
however may change a few ideas when planning the story as was going to end with
the main character facing a death.
10. This shows the audience would more likely like to see about the narrative in the opening
however is quite equal to how many would want it to be more about character in the
opening. This doesn’t surprise me as it pretty close and depends on the particular person
and not just the age or gender. This will lead us to make the opening of the film be more
about the narrative.
11. A death, drugs and alcohol are most preferred to be shown in the opening. This is surprising
as most respondents were female, however these were young teenagers and they therefore
find these situations exciting and interesting. This doesn’t change any of my initial ideas as
was planned to make a thriller which includes a surprising traumatic scene.
12. In the opening scene music is most preferred to be used. This Is a good idea as it builds
tension and suspense which is useful when creating a thriller film. Younger audience usually
would prefer music over live speech etc as may find speaking in the opening scene boring
and adult like. This hasn’t changed any of our ideas as we weren’t going to use any speaking
in our opening scene, only music to build tension.
