GUIDANCE
• This document is for you to track the progress of your
production – filming, editing and post-production.
• This is so you can track what you did and how you did it,
explaining and amendments and changes you made and
tracking the decisions that have shaped the practical
creation of your music video.
• The more detail you include about how you made your music
video, the better. The document is broken down in to two
sections, Filming and Editing, each of these is then made of
specific elements that occur in both.
• For each slide there is a prompt detailing what you should
include, delete the prompt after you have complete the slide.
• Remember, images often show what you’ve done more
effectively than words. Use text to explain an illustration.

3. FILMING
Explain what worked and didn’t work about your filming and how you
managed this covering the following areas:
• Technical – using the cameras and any technical equipment; this
could be how you did your lip sync, used the green screen, dealt
with problems with batteries, etc
• Logistical – did your locations work? Did you have any access
problems? Did it rain?
• Personnel – how were your cast/crew? Did anyone let you down?
How did you manage this?
• Planning – did your planning help? Do you think it could have
worked better? How?
• Next steps – do you need to re-film? Film more? Have you
changed your video? How/why?

4. TECHNICAL
I planned to film my music video on my camera and not my
phone however there was a few issues with that to do with
batteries, so I ended up filming on my phone in the end
which wasn’t a issue really as the shots turned out perfectly
fine. I went out and bought a few lenses for my phone camera
e.g fish eye, macro, wide angle. Which was good to change
the shot so it wasn’t all the same, however I did film some of
the shots on my ordinary iphone camera.

5. LOGISTICAL
For the most part all the locations were fine as the first day
we went out filming the weather was fine and we were able to
access all the locations, the only location we couldn’t film in
was the skatepark as it was too busy but this wasn’t that big
of an issue.
we had a few more problems the second time we went to film
as it wasn’t the best weather however I don’t think this was
too noticeable in the shots, also the second time we went I
struggled to find things to film as I had already filmed
everywhere that fit my aesthetic the first time and I didn’t
want it to become repetitive.

6. PERSONNEL
There was no problems here as everyone that agreed to be in
my music video turned up and was up to do whatever I
needed to create my music video. However the only thing is I
did plan to have some lip synching in my music video but
nobody was up for it.

7. PLANNING
I think my planning helped me a lot as it helped me plan what
I was going to film and where I was going to go to achieve
these shots.

8. WHAT WENT WELL

I wanted to edit one bit of my music video to the beat, it was
very fiddly and tricky but I managed to do it eventually.
I also did a very cool shot where I filmed whilst being pushed in
a trolley.
Another thing that went well was the eye shot at the start and
the end I think that looked cool.

I had quite a few problems with the music on my music video
as bits of it kept cutting off and then everything I had done to
the beat wasn’t on the beat anymore. Another problem I had
was that I didn’t have enough footage to start with but I
corrected this by going out and getting more.

clue how to use it before
- by filming I have learnt what angles get the best shots.
- I learnt how to cut the the beat on premiere pro
- I have also learnt what the key conventions of music videos
are
- I learnt how to edit the shots on premiere pro in order to
slow down etc.
