Music Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of music may seem like a delightful task initially, given the
vastness and richness of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of music, its genres,
historical significance, cultural influences, and the emotional impact it has on individuals can
make the process more challenging than anticipated.
One of the difficulties lies in capturing the essence of music in words. Music is a language in
itself, and trying to translate its beauty, emotion, and depth into written form can be a daunting
task. The subjective nature of musical experiences further complicates the writing process. What
resonates deeply with one person may not evoke the same emotions in another, making it
challenging to create a universally appealing narrative.
Moreover, the extensive history of music, spanning various cultures and eras, demands
comprehensive research to provide a well-rounded perspective. Balancing the historical context
with modern developments, technological influences, and the evolution of musical genres
requires meticulous attention to detail.
The challenge is not only in conveying factual information but also in expressing the personal
connection that individuals have with music. Trying to articulate the profound impact of music
on emotions, memories, and even societal movements can be a nuanced and intricate endeavor.
Additionally, the sheer diversity within the realm of music poses a challenge. Whether exploring
classical compositions, contemporary pop, jazz improvisations, or the cultural significance of
traditional music, the essayist must navigate a broad landscape while maintaining coherence and
relevance.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the expansive and multi-faceted topic of music demands not
only a deep understanding of the subject but also a skillful blending of factual information and
personal expression. It requires the ability to capture the intangible aspects of music, making the
essay a harmonious composition in itself.
For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other academic writing challenges,

standards and capture the essence of the subject matter.

The Rubik s Cube
How Architecture found Cubes
The Rubik s cube, invented by Erno Rubik, is famously known as the Impossible
puzzle.
It was during the summer of my 7th grade that I first stumbled upon the Rubik s
cube. The Rubik s cube is a cube with different colors on all sides. The goal is to be
able to return the original look of the cube, with all the edges and corners
corresponding to the center color of each face. People seem to think the cube is
made out of 27 cubes, but it is actually made of a core. The other pieces fit in with
the core to give the look of multiple cubes grouped together.
I remembered the day vividly when I held the glamorous box with the Qi Yi
BullFight (Name of the Rubik s Cube) inside. The cube felt special, it was an
experience I had never encountered. Perfect. Made with care. I momentarily observed
the cube, six sides, all with their beautifully covered ... Show more content on

Architecture is the design of a building, just like the bones that make up the
structure of a human being, and the way it forms as a basis for a design. The
Rubik s cube is the pencil I use for drawing. The pencil is occasionally used, and
sometimes, left alone. When I am focused, I can solve my difficulties, calm and
controlled. Nevertheless, I can draw my imagination, however hard it maybe.
However, when I am inattentive, it seems like a brick wall is stopping me from my
solution. Although this pencil may cause me to stress out, it can also encourage me
to try harder, and seek out the hidden solution even with the massive brick wall in the
way. My love of architecture connects with the cube because solving problems in
puzzles is just like thinking through and designing something. In addition, whenever I
open my vision to the many designs in the world, it brings me back to the Rubik s
cube and architecture. The many designs act like the algorithms in the cube, you
sometimes make errors, and you sometimes
The Middle Ages Essay
The Song of Roland is the Emblem of the Middle Ages
The Middle Ages was an era of invasions. It was a dark time in England and across
Europe. Where Islam was taking over, the crusades had to take action against that
and spread Christianity instead. Values and beliefs were driven from the church. On
the other hand, Feudalism, which stands for the power of the land was taking over.
All these incidents and more inspired the poets and writers to create literature that
expressed what was happening in the Middle Ages. One of these productions was the
Song of Roland it is one of the oldest epic poems that was written in France. In my
view the following points taken from this magnificent poem, focus on the values of
this era: church was spreading wrong conceptions against Islam in order to spread
Christianity; rules and values in society were imposed by the church, when people
where believers in god ; land owners are the most powerful in society, that lead to
feudalism; one of the knights merits is complying to orders; noble knights fight
alone when in need for help till the last breath; vicious sins like falsehood and
betrayal are dammed by the kingdom.
The Church was spreading wrong conceptions about Islam in order to spread
Christianity; The Song of Roland purposely draws negative images about the faith
of Islam and semi Muslims. And associated them with devils, in (laisse 78) Rain

Essay on Lawren Harris
Lawren Harris was a Canadian artist who was born in Brantford, Ontario in the
year of 1885. Lawren Harris plays a very important role in art history as he was one
of the best known landscape painters as well as the leader of the Group of Seven.
The group of seven began in the twentieth century and is a group of artists who were
brought together by the common interest of art. These men today are Canada s most
famous artists as their works symbolizes Canada s identity. Lawren was also the
founding member and the first president of the Canadian Group of Painters. He was

Beatrice, 14 years later he fell in love with another women who s name was Bess

unsure of what to do as if they both got divorced and then married each other, it
would result in a huge scandal. After 24 years of being married to Beatrice, he left
her for Bess Houser who Lawren ended up marrying in 1834. Beatrice s family
threatened Lawren to charge him with bigamy which is the act of entering a
marriage while you are still legally in one. Lawren ended up moving to the United
States of America later that year with Bess. They then moved again in 1940 to
Vancouver, British Columbia. That is when Lawren began to make abstract
paintings. Twenty nine years later, Lawren was made a Companion of the Order of
Canada. The next year, Harris died in Vancouver and was buried on the grounds of
the McMichael Art Gallery where his work is displayed. His work will always be
remembered and still continued to sell years later. His paintings have very high
values and has been sold for a record of 2,875,000 in 2007. Lawren was a very
inspirational artist and his work will never be forgotten.
Lawren s paintings are very recognizable as they use the same types of techniques.
His paintings are abstract landscapes of rural Ontario showing an appreciation for

A Summary Of The Short Story Of Jamaica Kincaid
A mother has various jobs, such as being our doctors, therapist, our superheros,
biggest supporters and most importantly, our teachers. They teach us almost
everything from our ABC s and 123 s to driving and managing money. Jamaica
Kincaid wrote a short story of a conversation between old fashioned motherand
daughter. The mother wants to share all of her knowledge and wisdom with her
daughter, so she will grow up to become an exceptional young lady.. The advice that
she gives her is like the advice that our mothers gives us growing up, but is definitely
an older version. The important things that the mother wants her daughter to know
are how to maintain a household, how to act like a lady and how to deal with other
people.
Even though the mother had plenty advice to give to her growing daughter, one of
the most important things were how to take care of her future household. It is very
important for her to know how to keep her house together at all times. Most of the
time people would host guest at their house for dinner, parties, etc. Back then the
women did all the housekeeping and cooking while their husbands are at work. One
advice that the mother gave her was how to properly set a table for different meals,
eating together has a family was essential in a household. this is how you set a table
for tea; this is how you set a table for dinner; this is how you set a table for dinner

Telescreens Comparison Essay
One parallel from modern day life to George Orwel s 1984 is the Telescreens or
big brother is watching you to the NSA s surveillance. In the novel the telescreen is
a device similar to a TV combined with a security camera. The device is used by the
party to monitor the behavior of the inner and outer party members and to insure that
they are not plotting against the party. The people of the inner and outer party have
very little to no privacy.
There are many similarities between the telescreen and NSA surveillance. Such as the
fact that everything that Americans say on phone calls can be recorded and listened
or put in to the data base similar to what the thought police do with the telescreens
everything that you say or do can be filed away and used against you at a later date.
If the government has any supsion that you are a terrorist or have anything to do with

If the telescreen records you doing certain things you are immediately under
suspicion like turning your back to the telescreen Winston kept his back turned to
the telescreen. It was safer, though, as he well knew, even a back can be revealing.
(1.1.6) In book one chapter one paragraph 6 Winston reveals that even by facing
away the thought police could still detect his rebellion. Winston also reveals in
book one chapter five paragraph 65 that It [ s] terribly dangerous to let your
thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a
telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away... For example to wear an
improper expression on your face (to look incredulous when a victory was
announced, for example) was itself a punishable offense. There was even a word for
it in Newspeak: facecrime, it was called. (1.5.65). Which is similar to how a small

Song Of Innocence In William Blake s Songs Of Experience
In Songs of Experience Blake immediately creates imagery by using the image of
the speaker talking a child who is covered in soot and crying in the snow. There is
a contrast of misery being understood using the color black and a sense of
innocence using white. The speaker demands that the child tells him where his
parents are and he expresses how they are in the church. Similar to Songs of
Innocence, in line 8 the metaphor And taught me to sing the notes of woe. shows
this child was also forced to be a chimney sweeper. This also shows his experience
and how he learned sadness instead of happiness. But, unlike that version, he was
once happy. In line 7, They clothed me in the clothes of death, the theme of death
arises again as a metaphor that can refer to chimney sweeping outfit or an outfit to
wear once you die. This image also applies to experience because he knew that he
would die eventually from doing this job. Nevertheless, these two images are
almost the same because chimney sweeping resulted in death at some point. In both
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the parents are responsible for their
children s unhappiness for forcing them to be chimney sweepers. Line 12 Who
make up a heaven of our misery. in Songs of Experience, Blake is directly shaming
the government and society including the church and parents. He questions how
parents can be praising God while their children are working and living in deadly
conditions. In both pieces the society is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Urbanization In Village

In the novel Village By The Sea by Anita Desai tells the problem faced in Indian
villagers which can be noticed from two characters, Hari and Lila. From the book
we can experience the Indian culture and their way of life through the life faced by
the characters. I feel that the book is distinctive and special in a way, as it alternates
between the view of Hari and Lila. It also has an effect on the readers, when Hari
goes to the city of Bombay and Lila is in the villageof Thul. From these two point of
view we can get the idea of similarities and differences between city and villagelife.
Some of the problem faced by villagers in India is industrialization and urbanization.

I would not say that it is a problem, but there are definitely advantages and
disadvantages to urbanization. The advantages can be that the country will be more
economically competitive as contrasted to other which are not so developed
countries. It will also have more cleaner and more efficient manufacturing and will
be more potential in controlling their resources. In addition, when the country is
very developed, they will be very successful to safeguard themselves. When more
people live in cities or upper class apartments, there will be more capacity for other
development. More lenders will want to invest in the country and more tourists will
want to come to the country, because of these factors. The disadvantages of
urbanization are the air quality of the area will certainly be affected, because of the
smoke from the exhaust of vehicles and the pollutants from the factories. This may
affect the health of the people living in the cities. The environment of the country
may also be affected by the country s

Informative Essay On Wrestling
The sport of wrestling has been going on for thousands of years. Our earliest
ancestors have been known to play the sport. Back in the caveman times in France
the drawings have showed us two men grappling and fighting (College Sports). This
is showing the two men wrestling. Wrestling to me has been the toughest sport I have
had to participate in so far in my athletic career.
Why do I call the title ancient you ask, well it s because wrestling has been on earth
for a very long time. Like I said in the upper paragraph is that its been here on earth
since back to the cave paintings found in France. Now wrestling to the Greeks was
very big in their history. It was their number one sport that they had played. The
wresting though would get very violent at some points and get messy.
Wrestling was also big in other places like England. They would have wrestling

A Brief Note On The Non Profit Sector Essay
The Non Profit Sector
The Chinese non profit sector has grown rapidly over the past decade. Some scholars
have pointed out that private non enterprise units have more characteristics of social
enterprises in the three types of social organizations that are currently recognized by
the law
However, China s non profit sector is facing a long term development of the plight of
the lack of resources. How to realize the self sufficiency of funds through the market
oriented and commercialized operation mode becomes a topic of concern in the
industry and academia. At present, some non profit organizations with
entrepreneurial spirit have begun to practice market oriented mode of operation, such
as the implementation of internal management of the enterprise, the implementation
of public service fee system for government outsourcing projects and enterprises to

In this micro analysis I will be analysing the film Blade which was produced in 1998

Mise en scene and cinematography. I will be analysing everything in the scene

As soon as the fight scene begins Blade pulls out a shotgun. The shot gun is black
and long in length. While the fight is commencing there is a feeling of claustrophobia
that the setting creates and entrapment. This feeling is created through the shots used
as he is fighting the vampires and the composition. Blade is position in the middle of
most of the shots and vampires are surrounding him from either side fighting him.
This gives a feeling of isolation and claustrophobia towards the audience.
While the fight scene is going on the audience will notice that all the vampires are
in red and Blade has high key lighting on him most of the time throughout the
scene. This indicates danger around him and evil and also he is isolated. This
shows the audience that Blade is going to be the hero because the light that is
shining on him indicates hope to the audience but then again indicates coldness at
the same time. As the scene goes on there is a mid shot of Blade having lots of
stakes around his leg and plunging it into a vampire s heart. The mise en scene
makes us think that it is a good vs. evil theme and that Blade is on a mission to kill
all the vampires because strapped to his leg is a bundle of stakes, its like Blade was
ready and waiting for the vampires to attack.
Blade is then enclosed with vampires circling him. The shot used here is a long shot

occurred at a Virginia college. Seung Hui Cho a 23 year old South Korean alone
executed the killing of 33 people by securing colleges doors to prevent escape of any

Cho had a hard childhood and was in the shadows of his very successful sister.
Even in college Cho had no friends and began to look up to other school shooters as
martyrs. Although these individuals were not his friends at all in his situation they
were the closest thing to having friends. In college Cho was accused of stalking
women on two different occasions, was caught taking photos of the legs of female
students in class and was separated out of classes. I believe that Cho s antisocial
lifestyle along with the transition any from home eventually lead him to commit the
mass murder. Cho s anti social lifestyle seemed to escalate to criminal behaviors from
the time he went off to college until the time of the Virginia Tech shooting. I believe
that this tragedy could have been prevented if the proper preventative measures and
treatment techniques were taken. As a boy Cho should have been taken in for a
mental evaluation but I believe the integration of his family into the American society
prevented that. In high school Cho being bullied and teased could have been put to a
stop by teachers and surrounding students. Also when Cho started writing gruesome
poems short stories and plays he should have been recommended to a counselor. Any
counselor that Cho had encounters with could have been a lot more persistent in
getting to the bottom of Cho s situations. A teacher college teacher doesn t just

Considerations and Treatments of Glioblastomas
Malignant gliomas are the most common type of primary malignant brain tumor, and
glioblastoma accounts for 82% of cases of malignant glioma. Glioblastomas arise
from glial precursor cells and are characterized histologically by considerable
cellularity, mitotic activity, vascular proliferation, and necrosis. They are highly
invasive, infiltrating surrounding braintissues, yet they are typically confined to the
central nervous system and do not metastasize.1 From a molecular standpoint,
malignant glioblastomas are heterogeneous tumors, and genome studies have
demonstrated four transcriptional subclasses. These four classes display features of
distinct cell types: classical, mesenchymal, proneural, and neural.1 Patients with
glioblastoma experience a wide variety of complications from both the disease and
drug therapies. Current standard therapies for glioblastoma are maximal safe surgical
resection followed by temozolomide and radiotherapy. With these therapies the
median patient survival is less than 2 years due to common tumor recurrence.2
However, new therapies such as targeted vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors,
carmustine wafers, and gene therapies are promising in prolonging survival and
delaying progression of the disease.
Patients with glioblastoma experience clinical complications of the malignancy
including thromboembolic events, seizures, fluctuations in neurologic symptoms,
and visual field defects, in addition to adverse effects from
Sprayable Polymer-Based Foam

The new anti bleeding material originates from shrimp shells and is later developed
into a spraying foam. This new sprayable whipped cream like foam can significantly

The sprayable polymer based foam can be significantly vital for treating major
injuries in street violence and combat zones.

Roger Chillingworth In The Scarlet Letter
Altered by sin in The Scarlet Letter, evil, obsessive, and manipulative are what
describe Roger Chillingworth. From the beginning, Roger is an enigmatic yet
intriguing character, knowledgeable in medicine from his time in captivity, as well as
unbeknownst to others except for the audience the wife of Hester Prynne. Becoming
eviler as the story goes on, Roger s complexion is only matched by the devil
himself, with his only goal being to pursue Dimmesdale for his (and Hester s) act
of sin. Roger stays for seven years, becoming obsessed about Dimmesdale s
suffering and pain, like a leech. His dependency proves to be his downfall, as
when Dimmesdale accepts his sin to be a part of him, Roger s life is now without
purpose. These chain of events leads to the idea that Roger Chillingworth s act of
sin (revenge), as well as Hester and Dimmesdale s act of sin (passion) influence his
character development and outcome greatly in The Scarlet Letter, as he becomes
psychologically more manipulative, evil, and obsessive, and physically more sinister
looking. In Puritan society, it proves someone else s sin can make another one
twisted and evil, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests how in a Puritan society, one s sin can negatively transform another,
and in today s society, how being evil and obsessive can lead to one s end. Roger s
mind and demeanor are made demented and sinister, with him only thinking about
revenge towards Dimmesdale because of his and Hester s sin, giving way to the idea
one s sin can lead to another s sin. Roger constantly obsesses over a sin of revenge,
which proves to be his downfall when Dimmesdale reveals himself to everybody at
the end, disclosing the idea that obsessiveness and evility can lead to one s
Analysis Of Social Service Work Values
One of the social service work values required in this situation includes, service to
humanity (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Referencing the text on the values and ethnics
of social service work provided during first semester, service to humanity focuses
on upholding service in the interest of others consistent with social justice
(Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). It explores balancing one s own needs with the collective
needs of the people (Ramsarran, 2015, p. 3). Furthermore, it involves acting in a

Suspense In Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow, directed by Tim Burton, is a thrilling horror film which tells the
story of a bewitched town called Sleepy Hollow. Set in 1799, Constable Ichabod
Crane is requested to venture to Sleepy Hollow in order to solve the mysterious
murders of two decapitated victims. Upon his arrival, he is told about the belief of
the evil spirit of the Hessian Headless Horseman. At first, Crane does not believe this
rumour and is very stubborn that the culprit is of flesh and blood. However, through
his investigations and ventures he finds that the culprit is a spirit of the underworld,
who is being controlled by a living person. Two scenes from the film and various
cinematic techniques will be used to demonstrate specific aspects of the film such...

Such films include Dracula and Frankenstein, where the monster falls in love with an
innocent woman in a dark world. The film Sleepy Hollow is classified as a part of this
genre. Through the use of cinematic techniques, Burton has created a gothic horror
film which can commonly be seen in the Tree of the Dead scene. Through this
scene, Burton has heavily used dark lighting to influence the theme gothic horror
as the darkness creates a gothic and dark sense of feeling. The use of this darkness
surrounding the Tree of the Dead incorporates the feeling of a gothic theme as the
setting is dark and gloomy, which falls under the gothic horror genre. Another
aspect which interprets the film as a part of the gothic horror genre is the use of
setting. The settings in this film are always gloomy and sad representing the
theme of gothic horror. Using the town of Sleepy Hollow for example, the town is
always seen as a sad and gloomy town as the shade and colour of the town is often a
darker shade. Music is another effective technique used to display the gothic horror
genre in this film as it is always played in a low manner, usually consisting of a base
and violins. It creates the dark and gloomy sense of feeling which is common in
gothic horror films. The dark and deep music allows the sense of gothic horror to be
created as it is a gloomy and dark genre, which can clearly
Free Association And Dream Analysis
Free Association is a central technique in psychoanalytic therapy. Free association is
where clients can vent and speak their mind to find closure. Free association can be
used with current clients because it gives the client the chance to open up about
other significant activities that can help resolve or lead to a solution for their
situation. For example, clients speak of wishes and fantasies of how they imagine
their life.
Dream Analysis also known as Dream Work. According to Corey, Dream analysis has
two levels of content: latent content and manifest content. Latent content is hiding
reality and the pain that can and will occur. Manifest Content is escaping the pain in
a dream (p. 80); believing that the client is a fantasy world and

It is at this time that they begin to develop self concept and their feelings of

The Concert I Will Be Reviewing Performed By Gregory
Sauer
The concert I will be reviewing was performed by Gregory Sauer (cello) and Eric
Jenkins (piano) as part of the UTRGV Patron of the Arts Guest Artist Series, which
began at 7:30 PM on Monday, October 3, 2016 in the TSC Arts Center Performance
Hall. This well rounded program included modern works from the 20th Century as
well as works of the Late Romantic and Baroque eras. Sauer s style and expression
varied according to the piece he was performing; however, the principle elements of
his virtuosity remained unaltered throughout Monday night s performance. These
foundational practices are what made each articulation and individual piece not only
well understood, but (and more importantly) consistent.
Before a performance, the concert hall is a convivial atmosphere where patrons catch
up and music students engage in discussing the inside scoop around campus, all
unbeknownst of the (not so) subtle preparation taking place on stage; Monday night
was no exception. Following the initial applaud, Gregory Sauer sat in his chair,
positioned his Cello and began playing CassadГі s Suite for Solo Cello . Typically, I
would have sat back and enjoyed the program, but having read up on the instrument
and the positioning of the body in respect to the instrument, I immediately noticed the
inclination of Sauer s cello toward the right side of his body as well as the loose
position of his right hand. I kept track of this positioning throughout the concert, but
there were other consistencies

CASE OF SHERWOOD V. WALKER The cow case became a very famous case in
1887, and for generations after that, law students have study this particular case.
Part of the appeal of this case is the simplicity of it and country settings, which is
two farmers bargaining about the price of a cow. One of the parties involved in
this case was Hiram Walker. He was a business man in the nineteenth century, who
made his fortune in distilling. Mr. Walker purchased a farm in Wayne County and
took up the avocation of gentleman farmer and breeder of fine cattle. Theodore
Sherwood was a successful banker who also took the part of a gentleman farmer

Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And...
It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in
a time when the world is faced with so many significant problems climate change,
population density to name just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about
the prospect of studying Engineering, especially at the point of so many major
advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I hope to
help to lead these advances and solve these problems.
My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in
Year 9. I remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in
different patterns. Though it was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make
physical changes to my own home brought me great pleasure. As I became more
knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive
projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a
CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition
system using a Raspberry Pi and open source libraries. These projects have showed
me the practical aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be
able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; ].
Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of
different LEDs that can have features such as its flicker rate and intensity
configured to a very precise level. This formed part of a larger research project
investigating how animals react to types of light. The project, done as part of a
Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it
involved dozens of different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this
project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed
me how research works at the PhD level.
Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the
garage and I have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what
constitutes Engineering. I recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick
University which proved to be an enlightening experience because of the amount of
new material that was covered,
Evaluating My Learning Style
People have different learning style. According to the VAK Learning Style
Indicators, my learning style is quite not clear which is tend to be physical but very
close to visual and auditory. Because of in university or college even high school in
some cases is very stressful. Student live in a very intensive environment, so it is very
significant to let the student know what their learningstyle is. Let them concentrate on
using the learning style that they good at. So, I am going to introduce my current
learning style, the tasks I find which is the most easiest or difficult and the strategies
I think it would be useful in university due to my learning style.
I have a weird hobby that is in the theater, I will casually turn my head back to see
how people would react when they watch movie. Perhaps this action shows the visual
side that I tend to accept information. Another example, back to the time I started
learning English, I have got no interest at all. The only thing I interested in is English
music, some of them were really attracted me. Then I started learning those
vocabularies from the lyrics while listening to the music, I have learned both
pronunciation and general vocabulary. I believe this would show how auditory style
works on me. Also, this example brought up the moment I learned to dance when I
was little. Just imagine all the movement in my head while listening music then tell
the dance instructor all those movements, she was very impressed. In

the facade does not last long and she is forced to deal with the truth and guilt of her

Rome During The Revolution Of Rome Essay
When many people think of Rome, they think of an oligarchy but still consider Rome
somehow democratic. Rome, however was a mix of many different systems, all
culminating with the aristocratic versus the Plebeians. Rome was built on a
monarchy before becoming a democracy, and then ending with an imperial rule. As
Rome struggled with recognizing the different social classes within its social system
and society, the system of government that it was based on slowly morphed into
something that was not democratic at all. This government system even showed itself
in the generalities of daily life in Rome, like the family and the household.
Rome was founded, according to legend, in 753 BCE. It began as a monarchy,
starting with the king, Romulus, a descendant of the earliest Roman, Aeneas. This
system can, of course, be seen as a type of aristocracy, since the common people
would never have been chosen as a successor for rule. After the revolution of Rome
in 509 BCE, Rome became democratic; that is that they now had more than just a
king and now had voting assemblies made of the male citizens of Rome. These
citizens now had legislative duties, could be more than just the people, and could
now be a legitimate power in Roman society. However, when Augustus came into
power, this democratic system was effectively abolished, and Rome became an
imperial system in everything but in name . This imperial system lasted until Rome
fell in 476 CE .
Rome s democracy, as mentioned, was
The Failure of California s Proposition 19
Cannabis, also known as Marijuana, has been used by humans throughout history
for medical, recreational, as well as spiritual purposes. Its fiber, oil, and seed are
also refined into products such as hemp oil, wax, rope, cloth, and paper (Agriculture
and Agri Food Canada, 2013, para. 1). With 56% voters overwhelming supported for
medical cannabis, California became the first state in the United Statesto pass Prop
215 in 1996 ensuring the patients and their primary caregivers to have the right to
obtain and use marijuana for medical purpose (California Department of Public
Health, 2013, Text of Law section, para. 1). Right after the U.S. Department of
Justice announced in March 2009 that it would no longer prosecute marijuana
patients and providers whose actions are consistent with state medical marijuana
laws (Meyer Glover, 2009, para. 1), political windows suddenly opened for
California marijuana reform advocates to push for legalizing the recreational use of
marijuana. As a result, California Proposition 19, the Regulate, Control Tax
Cannabis Act, became a ballot initiative on November 2, 2010 statewide ballot.
Supporters argued that legalizing creational use of marijuana would help California
to regulate the use and sale of marijuana, reduce correctional costs, redirect its court
and law enforcement resources to other more serious crimes, and collect additional
exercise taxes and sales taxes that would help with California s budget shortfall. In

Dissimilar to men, it was regularly not the lady s decision regardless of whether she
needed to have youngsters. This was particularly valid for dark ladies bodies amid
a period when men could assault dark ladies and the legal framework would not

expendable specialists alongside their regenerative capacities that were used

To legitimize this type of fierceness, dark ladies bodies were portrayed as being

Essay On A Streetcar Named Desire

other plays of the 1940s remain relevant? First, Streetcar dared to delve into sensitive
social topics, from mental illness to homosexuality to addiction, and even mortality.

To Blanche and Stanley, masculinity is defined purely by forceful actions and
sexuality. Societal pressures on men forced Stanley to grow up with little ability to
express himself without the use of force and a constant urge to display and promote
his sexual prowess. Through the character of Stanley, Williams highlights the
pressure men feel to be aggressive and active in sex.
On the contrary, the expectations and double standards of society pressure Blanche to
behave prudently and conservatively, against her nature. Blanche admits to Stella the
pressure she feels to appear demure when she shares, It isn t enough to be soft. You

My Communication Skills Of My Life And How They Have
Been...
Being able to communicate is a great skill that one can practice every day of our
lives. There are several ways or types of communication skills I have learned in this
course such as vocally, written, visually, or non verbally. In this assignment, I am
going to write about my communication skills in three periods of my life and how
they have been developed. First, I would like to talk about how I was when I was a
little. When I was about five or six years old, I was spoiled between my family just
like most of the other kids. However, outside my house I can describe myself as a
shy and quiet girl that I sometimes in school I have been bullied by other students.
When I was five years old my dad enrolled me and my half brother who is as my
age in a kindergarten school. I was always with my brother and I felt safe around
him, but when we become at the seventh age, my dad couldn t have enrolled us in
the same school because he was told that I was born at the last days of November
and they would accept me in the school with the next generation. Therefore, my dad
decided that I am going to a private schoolso that I can be with my generation.
At the first day of school I was afraid to be alone without having my brother around
me. I just hated that school because I was just by myself, and my classmates were
not nice to me at all. The boys and some girls were very mean and like to be
bullying for example, they always take my stuff and refused to return them back

Synthesis Essay On Monument
2013 Synthesis Essay
Although there are many important factors a group or agency should consider when
creating a monument, the most important are location, the impact of the design, and
the overall purpose. The most effective monuments combine all three elements in a
way that is unique to the person or event being memorialized, creating a significant
and distinct tribute.
Numerous components for the location for the prospective monument should assessed
prior to construction. If the immediate area around the monument is incongruous, the
memorial may be seen as unwelcome. The citizens in Rapid City, neighboring Mt.
Rushmore, viewed the massive sculpture as an offense and an obstruction (C). These
commemorations should be placed in an appropriate area where they will be
appreciated. The surrounding scene should not belie what is being commemorated.
As said by Kirk Savage, Professor, History of Art Architecture, Why make a
pilgrimage to a site with no historical significance to read text that was already
everywhere? The answer is simple: the monument manufactures its own aura (A). ...

A monument is a way to immortalize an occasion, and the design should illustrate
why that occasion was significant. The structure should serve as a representation of
the features of the happening, whether it be the Statue of Liberty symbolizing
freedom, or the Wright Brothers memorial commemorating the first flight. Successful
monuments are able to encapsulate great events by illustrating them in a way that is
appealing to the viewer. Maya Lin, designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

sources of energy have to be developed to meet the future energy requirement. Grid
connected wind capacity is undergoing through fastest rate of growth compared to
any other form of renewable power generation, achieving global annual growth rates
of 20 30 %. The power electronic converters play a major role in wind energy
conversion system for controlling and conditioning of output power from wind
energy. During last few years matrix converters and multi level converter topologies
have generated significant interest. This paper discusses the diode clamped multilevel
matrix converter design for double fed induction generator based wind energy
conversion system. The MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used for analyzing the
converter performance.
Index Terms Double fed induction generator, diode clamped multilevel matrix

A Revolution Of Sentiments Essay
A Revolution of Sentiments The American Revolution was more of an accelerated
evolution than a revolution. However, the exodus of some 80,000 Loyalists left a
great lack of conservatives. This weakening of the aristocratic upper crust let
Patriot elites emerge. The fight for separation of church and state resulted in
notable gains. The Congregational church continued to be legally established by
some New England states, but the Anglican Church was humbled and reformed as
the Protestant Episcopal Church. Slavery was a big, problematic issue, as the
Continental Congress of 1774 had called for the abolition of slavery, and in 1775,
the Philadelphia Quakers founded the world s first antislavery society. This new
spirit of all men are created equal even inspired a few slave owners to free their
slaves. Another issue was women: they still were unequal to men, even though some
had served (disguised as men) in the Revolutionary War. There were some
achievements: New Jersey s 1776 constitution allowed women to vote (for a time).
Mothers devoted to their families were developed as an idea of republican
motherhood and elevated women to higher statuses as keepers of the nation s
conscience. Constitution Making in the States The Continental Congress of 1776
called upon colonies to draft new constitutions (thus began the formation of the
Articles of the Confederation). Massachusetts contributed one innovation when it
called a special convention to draft its constitution and made it
Expository Writing
During the semester, the class was assigned writing tasks that were intended to
showcase our strengths and weaknesses in our writing. We were forced to think
outside the box and expand on ideas in our readings. In the beginning of the
semester, I was not certain what to except from this course. Writing has never been
my strong suit, early in the semester I struggled with the writings. In high school,
English class was not my favorite subject causing me to not gain the knowledge I
should have, coming into this course with a poor knowledge about expository and
narrative writing. Once I entered this course, the information that was received about
expository and narrative writing helped me tremendously. I became accustomed to
the new writing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My weakness that was evident in my writing was my grammar, I made a few
mistakes that could ve been fixed had I revised my grammar more intently. Overall
I enjoyed this writing because it was based off a topic that I could relate to easily. I
learned that if I organize my ideas prior to writing, it makes it a lot easily to write
about.
Reflection:
The prompt of the reflection was to reflect on a topic and question it. I wrote about
love and why it is that we love certain things. In my writing, I explained how
individuals fall in love based off quality memories that they have of that a person,
place, or thing. My purpose was to provide the reader with enough information to
convince them that love is based off memories. The toughest challenge that I faced
was finding enough information to support my claim. Through multiple hours of
searching the web I was able to find enough information that supported my claim
and was satisfied with my draft that was submitted. While I was revising my paper
my focus was to eliminate any grammatical and or spelling errors that may have
been made. Throughout my writing the strength of it was my sensory imagery,
when I talked about my grandmother s home I made sure to give the reader a good
mental image. Another strength that was evident in my writing was my personal
experiences, giving a perspective from my eyes to give the reader a better sense of
what I was trying to say. The weakness of this paper was my
What Is the Objective of Internet Censorship in Public...
Shawn Nephi Klaxx
What is the objective of internet censorship in public schools? Is it effective and
does it do more good than bad? When talking about internet censorship in schools,
heated debates are always bound to arise on what they should block, how strict they
should be, and if they should even be there. The topic of fettered or unfettered internet
is a hot topic and can be both good and bad for education. When talking about
something that sounds like such a small topic it is important to remember that
everyday our lives and the internet are becoming more and more intertwined. Now
phones and computers are almost always linked to the internet. In this ever evolving
world that is becoming more and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like everything else there are laws that are placed on the internet and these
laws are expected to be followed. When these laws are broken they can be
punishable under two categories, Federal or International (being that it is a World
Wide Web database(No one owns it)). It is important to teach students these laws
and the consequences of breaking these laws. Because it is easier to teach a child
something then to teach them as a grown adult. Teachers and parents alike argue that
Internet filters should be applied but no one can come to an agreement on to what
extent the strictness of these filters should be. Congress, in 2000 enacted the
Children s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) as part of the Consolidated
Appropriations Act. The act provides three different types of funding; 1) aid to
elementary and secondary schools; 2) Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)
grants to States for support of public libraries; and 3) the E rate program that provides
technology discounts to schools and public libraries. ( Children and the Internet
National Conference of State Legislation). This is a good way to protect children
from harmful threats on the Internet. There is lots of harmful material on the Internet
though, Perhaps most troubling is the role Internet has come to play in bullying and
harassment, highlighted by the series of high profile suicides in the last few
The Basic Idea Of Hadoop
Basic Idea : Parallelization
The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily
accomplished, if a processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the
core focus of MapReduce programming framework have been to solve the partition
problem.
The Problem :
Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to
the amount of time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to
finish in a reasonable amount of time, the task needs to be split into potentially
thousands of machines in a cluster. To this account, Hadoop compute framework
provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and code to participating
nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP.
Mapping Lists:
A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time.
Each element is individually transformed to an output data element.
Reducing Lists :
In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of inputvalues
from the input list is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these
values to produce a single output value.
Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values)
All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify
related values. The input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are
(Key,Value) pairs.
Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space)
All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the
same key are given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations
occurring on other lists of values associated with different keys.
Input Files :
An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this
input file resides in HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of
Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning across multiple nodes.
InputFormat :
InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. InputFormat is a java
class which provides functionalities like selecting the files that needs to be used as
input, defining InputSplits that breaks
Persepolis And The Iranian Revolution
In the graphic novel, Persepolis Marjane s way of living is completely changed by
the Iranian Revolution. The Iranian revolution entails the overthrow of the Pahlavi
dynasty under the Shah , Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi. After 1979, the main
character of the novel, Marjane, is about ten years old and lives through the changes
made after the revolution beginning in primary school. These changes as a new
Islamic republic included a stricter government, capital punishment for protest,
mandatory dress codes for both men and women, and a reformed education system
based on the Shia Muslim religion where students are separated based on their
gender. This reformation makes it more difficult for Marjane being a young girl in
Iranin 1980 because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To a ten year old child, Marjane, for instance, it is a strong reason to protest and
question these actions because a big shift in her school has taken place from a non
religious school with little legislation to a fully reformed school highly based upon
religion. Marjane looks to faces of disgust for these new regulations and eventually
progresses to vocal rebellion as her education progresses. The early stages of
education reformation besides dress code also include religion based education and
gender based learning with no opposition from citizens. Before the Iranian revolution,
schools were not mandatory to be religious and if they were, they had freedom of
religion to practice something other than Shia Islam. This change of a religious
school base is stated by the Library of Congress due to a three pronged program
that involved purging courses and textbooks believed to slander Islam and
substituting courses on religion; purging teachers to ensure that only those who
understood the true meaning of Islam (i.e., were not secular) remained in the
schools.. (Metz). This change did has not only eliminated many teachers that
Marjane was used to out of her life but was a sudden change from her non religious
school background. Regardless of what the children of that time believed in, they
had to conform to the rules of a 1980 Iranian school system, Marjane expresses her
feelings towards her schools
A Report on the Management of Change
Report on the Management of Change Part One: Case study 1. Introduction At the
beginning of 2012, Martin Scott, the CEO and half owner of Alhambra Software
Solutions, reflected on the situation of the company. He was proud that the
organization had followed an ascendant path throughout the previous years, and
had not been hit by the devastating effects of the internationalized economic crisis.
Alhambra Software Solutions had registered tremendous increases in employees,
revenues, as well as customers served and projects completed. From the outside, it
all looked impressive and the company seemed flawless. Still, Scott was worried
by the fact that two of his senior software developers had handed in their
resignations that morning. Michael Tors and Janine Moss had been with the
company since its early stages; they had grown within Alhambra Software
Solutions ever since they had graduated from university, to this day, when they are
reputable and valuable senior developers. The decisions of Tors and Moss
intrigued the chief executive officer, who had always believed that the firm had
created a positive working environment for its employees. Still, looking back, he
now realizes that Tors and Moss were not the single senior software developers who
left the firm. In fact, there were several seniors that had left the company in the past
year, and if he recollects well the majority of the new people hired, were mainly
junior developers. Reflecting on the situation,
Feasibility Of Designing Partial Agonists Of The Human...
This article presents a study performed to demonstrate the feasibility of designing
partial agonists of the human muscarinic M1 receptor that would modulate the
receptor in two distinct ways simultaneously. It also explains the signaling behavior
of the receptor.
The muscarinic M1 receptor was described as the one of five subtypes of the
muscarinic G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) with the highest expression in the
central nervous system. Two downstream effects of activating the M1 receptor were
identified, activating of phospholipase C mainly by Gq/G11 proteins and influencing
ion channels like the N methyl D aspartate (NMDA) receptor and voltage gated Ca2+
channels. These two ion channels were reported to be therapeutic importance in ...

The hybrids synthesized were classified into four main groups (2, 3, 4, and 5) based
on the orthosteric agonist, the allosteric moiety and the number of carbon atoms in the
linker moiety.
Derivatives of benzyl quinolone carboxylic acids (BQCA), that function as
positive allosteric modulators and allosteric agonists of M1 receptors were linked
with the M2 selective orthosteric superagonist, Iperoxo in hybrids 2 and 3. In
hybrid 4, another derivative of BQCA was linked with the compound 1 (AF292), a
M1 selective agonist. Hybrid 5 was synthesized with compound 1 linked to the
allosteric binding moiety of an allosteric agonist, 1 (1′ (2 methylbenzyl) 1,4′
bipiperidin 4 yl) 1H benzo[d]imidazol 2(3H) one (TBPB) using linker moieties of
three different lengths.
The response obtained when the receptors were saturated with Acetylcholine, the
endogenous muscarinic ligand, was defined as the system s maximal response. The
data obtained from the DMR measurements were reported to have been analyzed
using the operational model of agonism for dynamic ligands. From the results,
iperoxo did not function as a superagonist at the M1 receptor. The synthesized
hybrid compounds in the groups 2 and 3 were observed to act as partial agonists at
the M1 receptor. The substitutions on the quinolone moiety of group 2 compounds
were said to have no

Music Essay.pdf

  • 1. Music Essay Writing an essay on the topic of music may seem like a delightful task initially, given the vastness and richness of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of music, its genres, historical significance, cultural influences, and the emotional impact it has on individuals can make the process more challenging than anticipated. One of the difficulties lies in capturing the essence of music in words. Music is a language in itself, and trying to translate its beauty, emotion, and depth into written form can be a daunting task. The subjective nature of musical experiences further complicates the writing process. What resonates deeply with one person may not evoke the same emotions in another, making it challenging to create a universally appealing narrative. Moreover, the extensive history of music, spanning various cultures and eras, demands comprehensive research to provide a well-rounded perspective. Balancing the historical context with modern developments, technological influences, and the evolution of musical genres requires meticulous attention to detail. The challenge is not only in conveying factual information but also in expressing the personal connection that individuals have with music. Trying to articulate the profound impact of music on emotions, memories, and even societal movements can be a nuanced and intricate endeavor. Additionally, the sheer diversity within the realm of music poses a challenge. Whether exploring classical compositions, contemporary pop, jazz improvisations, or the cultural significance of traditional music, the essayist must navigate a broad landscape while maintaining coherence and relevance. In conclusion, writing an essay on the expansive and multi-faceted topic of music demands not only a deep understanding of the subject but also a skillful blending of factual information and personal expression. It requires the ability to capture the intangible aspects of music, making the essay a harmonious composition in itself. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other academic writing challenges, resources like HelpWriting.net offer professional support and expertise. Expert writers can navigate the complexities of diverse topics, providing tailored essays that meet academic standards and capture the essence of the subject matter. Music Essay Music Essay
  • 2. The Rubik s Cube How Architecture found Cubes The Rubik s cube, invented by Erno Rubik, is famously known as the Impossible puzzle. It was during the summer of my 7th grade that I first stumbled upon the Rubik s cube. The Rubik s cube is a cube with different colors on all sides. The goal is to be able to return the original look of the cube, with all the edges and corners corresponding to the center color of each face. People seem to think the cube is made out of 27 cubes, but it is actually made of a core. The other pieces fit in with the core to give the look of multiple cubes grouped together. I remembered the day vividly when I held the glamorous box with the Qi Yi BullFight (Name of the Rubik s Cube) inside. The cube felt special, it was an experience I had never encountered. Perfect. Made with care. I momentarily observed the cube, six sides, all with their beautifully covered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Architecture is the design of a building, just like the bones that make up the structure of a human being, and the way it forms as a basis for a design. The Rubik s cube is the pencil I use for drawing. The pencil is occasionally used, and sometimes, left alone. When I am focused, I can solve my difficulties, calm and controlled. Nevertheless, I can draw my imagination, however hard it maybe. However, when I am inattentive, it seems like a brick wall is stopping me from my solution. Although this pencil may cause me to stress out, it can also encourage me to try harder, and seek out the hidden solution even with the massive brick wall in the way. My love of architecture connects with the cube because solving problems in puzzles is just like thinking through and designing something. In addition, whenever I open my vision to the many designs in the world, it brings me back to the Rubik s cube and architecture. The many designs act like the algorithms in the cube, you sometimes make errors, and you sometimes
  • 3. The Middle Ages Essay The Song of Roland is the Emblem of the Middle Ages The Middle Ages was an era of invasions. It was a dark time in England and across Europe. Where Islam was taking over, the crusades had to take action against that and spread Christianity instead. Values and beliefs were driven from the church. On the other hand, Feudalism, which stands for the power of the land was taking over. All these incidents and more inspired the poets and writers to create literature that expressed what was happening in the Middle Ages. One of these productions was the Song of Roland it is one of the oldest epic poems that was written in France. In my view the following points taken from this magnificent poem, focus on the values of this era: church was spreading wrong conceptions against Islam in order to spread Christianity; rules and values in society were imposed by the church, when people where believers in god ; land owners are the most powerful in society, that lead to feudalism; one of the knights merits is complying to orders; noble knights fight alone when in need for help till the last breath; vicious sins like falsehood and betrayal are dammed by the kingdom. The Church was spreading wrong conceptions about Islam in order to spread Christianity; The Song of Roland purposely draws negative images about the faith of Islam and semi Muslims. And associated them with devils, in (laisse 78) Rain does not fall nor dew collect. There is no stone,

The device is used by the party to monitor the behavior of the inner and outer party members and to insure that they are not plotting against the party. • 8. Song Of Innocence In William Blake s Songs Of Experience In Songs of Experience Blake immediately creates imagery by using the image of the speaker talking a child who is covered in soot and crying in the snow. There is a contrast of misery being understood using the color black and a sense of innocence using white. The speaker demands that the child tells him where his parents are and he expresses how they are in the church. Similar to Songs of Innocence, in line 8 the metaphor And taught me to sing the notes of woe. shows this child was also forced to be a chimney sweeper. This also shows his experience and how he learned sadness instead of happiness. But, unlike that version, he was once happy. In line 7, They clothed me in the clothes of death, the theme of death arises again as a metaphor that can refer to chimney sweeping outfit or an outfit to wear once you die. This image also applies to experience because he knew that he would die eventually from doing this job. Nevertheless, these two images are almost the same because chimney sweeping resulted in death at some point. In both Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the parents are responsible for their children s unhappiness for forcing them to be chimney sweepers. Line 12 Who make up a heaven of our misery. in Songs of Experience, Blake is directly shaming the government and society including the church and parents. He questions how parents can be praising God while their children are working and living in deadly conditions. In both pieces the society is

This feeling is created through the shots used as he is fighting the vampires and the composition. Blade is position in the middle of most of the shots and vampires are surrounding him from either side fighting him. This gives a feeling of isolation and claustrophobia towards the audience. While the fight scene is going on the audience will notice that all the vampires are in red and Blade has high key lighting on him most of the time throughout the scene. This shows the audience that Blade is going to be the hero because the light that is shining on him indicates hope to the audience but then again indicates coldness at the same time. As the scene goes on there is a mid shot of Blade having lots of stakes around his leg and plunging it into a vampire s heart. The mise en scene makes us think that it is a good vs. evil theme and that Blade is on a mission to kill all the vampires because strapped to his leg is a bundle of stakes, its like Blade was ready and waiting for the vampires to attack. Glioblastomas arise from glial precursor cells and are characterized histologically by considerable cellularity, mitotic activity, vascular proliferation, and necrosis. They are highly invasive, infiltrating surrounding braintissues, yet they are typically confined to the central nervous system and do not metastasize.1 From a molecular standpoint, malignant glioblastomas are heterogeneous tumors, and genome studies have demonstrated four transcriptional subclasses. These four classes display features of distinct cell types: classical, mesenchymal, proneural, and neural.1 Patients with glioblastoma experience a wide variety of complications from both the disease and drug therapies. Current standard therapies for glioblastoma are maximal safe surgical resection followed by temozolomide and radiotherapy. With these therapies the median patient survival is less than 2 years due to common tumor recurrence.2 However, new therapies such as targeted vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors, carmustine wafers, and gene therapies are promising in prolonging survival and delaying progression of the disease. Such films include Dracula and Frankenstein, where the monster falls in love with an innocent woman in a dark world. The film Sleepy Hollow is classified as a part of this genre. Through the use of cinematic techniques, Burton has created a gothic horror film which can commonly be seen in the Tree of the Dead scene. Through this scene, Burton has heavily used dark lighting to influence the theme gothic horror as the darkness creates a gothic and dark sense of feeling. The use of this darkness surrounding the Tree of the Dead incorporates the feeling of a gothic theme as the setting is dark and gloomy, which falls under the gothic horror genre. Another aspect which interprets the film as a part of the gothic horror genre is the use of setting. The settings in this film are always gloomy and sad representing the theme of gothic horror. This well rounded program included modern works from the 20th Century as well as works of the Late Romantic and Baroque eras. Sauer s style and expression varied according to the piece he was performing; however, the principle elements of his virtuosity remained unaltered throughout Monday night s performance. These foundational practices are what made each articulation and individual piece not only well understood, but (and more importantly) consistent. Before a performance, the concert hall is a convivial atmosphere where patrons catch up and music students engage in discussing the inside scoop around campus, all unbeknownst of the (not so) subtle preparation taking place on stage; Monday night was no exception. Following the initial applaud, Gregory Sauer sat in his chair, positioned his Cello and began playing CassadГі s Suite for Solo Cello . • 30. Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And... It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when the world is faced with so many significant problems climate change, population density to name just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering, especially at the point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I hope to help to lead these advances and solve these problems. My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in different patterns. Though it was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me great pleasure. As I became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system using a Raspberry Pi and open source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; ]. Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that can have features such as its flicker rate and intensity configured to a very precise level. This formed part of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The project, done as part of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it involved dozens of different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed me how research works at the PhD level. Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an enlightening experience because of the amount of new material that was covered,

  • 33. Rome During The Revolution Of Rome Essay When many people think of Rome, they think of an oligarchy but still consider Rome somehow democratic. Rome, however was a mix of many different systems, all culminating with the aristocratic versus the Plebeians. Rome was built on a monarchy before becoming a democracy, and then ending with an imperial rule. As Rome struggled with recognizing the different social classes within its social system and society, the system of government that it was based on slowly morphed into something that was not democratic at all. This government system even showed itself in the generalities of daily life in Rome, like the family and the household. Rome was founded, according to legend, in 753 BCE. It began as a monarchy, starting with the king, Romulus, a descendant of the earliest Roman, Aeneas. This system can, of course, be seen as a type of aristocracy, since the common people would never have been chosen as a successor for rule. After the revolution of Rome in 509 BCE, Rome became democratic; that is that they now had more than just a king and now had voting assemblies made of the male citizens of Rome. These citizens now had legislative duties, could be more than just the people, and could now be a legitimate power in Roman society. However, when Augustus came into power, this democratic system was effectively abolished, and Rome became an imperial system in everything but in name . This imperial system lasted until Rome fell in 476 CE . Rome s democracy, as mentioned, was

Right after the U.S. Department of Justice announced in March 2009 that it would no longer prosecute marijuana patients and providers whose actions are consistent with state medical marijuana laws (Meyer Glover, 2009, para. 1), political windows suddenly opened for California marijuana reform advocates to push for legalizing the recreational use of marijuana. As a result, California Proposition 19, the Regulate, Control Tax Cannabis Act, became a ballot initiative on November 2, 2010 statewide ballot. Supporters argued that legalizing creational use of marijuana would help California to regulate the use and sale of marijuana, reduce correctional costs, redirect its court and law enforcement resources to other more serious crimes, and collect additional exercise taxes and sales taxes that would help with California s budget shortfall. Grid connected wind capacity is undergoing through fastest rate of growth compared to any other form of renewable power generation, achieving global annual growth rates of 20 30 %. The power electronic converters play a major role in wind energy conversion system for controlling and conditioning of output power from wind energy. During last few years matrix converters and multi level converter topologies have generated significant interest. This paper discusses the diode clamped multilevel matrix converter design for double fed induction generator based wind energy conversion system. The MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used for analyzing the converter performance. Index Terms Double fed induction generator, diode clamped multilevel matrix converters, grid, matrix Converter, space vector pulse width modulation technique, wind turbine. 1.INTRODUCTION Energy plays a vital role
  • 42. A Revolution Of Sentiments Essay A Revolution of Sentiments The American Revolution was more of an accelerated evolution than a revolution. However, the exodus of some 80,000 Loyalists left a great lack of conservatives. This weakening of the aristocratic upper crust let Patriot elites emerge. The fight for separation of church and state resulted in notable gains. The Congregational church continued to be legally established by some New England states, but the Anglican Church was humbled and reformed as the Protestant Episcopal Church. Slavery was a big, problematic issue, as the Continental Congress of 1774 had called for the abolition of slavery, and in 1775, the Philadelphia Quakers founded the world s first antislavery society. This new spirit of all men are created equal even inspired a few slave owners to free their slaves. Another issue was women: they still were unequal to men, even though some had served (disguised as men) in the Revolutionary War. There were some achievements: New Jersey s 1776 constitution allowed women to vote (for a time). Mothers devoted to their families were developed as an idea of republican motherhood and elevated women to higher statuses as keepers of the nation s conscience. Constitution Making in the States The Continental Congress of 1776 called upon colonies to draft new constitutions (thus began the formation of the Articles of the Confederation). Massachusetts contributed one innovation when it called a special convention to draft its constitution and made it

We were forced to think outside the box and expand on ideas in our readings. In the beginning of the semester, I was not certain what to except from this course. Writing has never been my strong suit, early in the semester I struggled with the writings. In high school, English class was not my favorite subject causing me to not gain the knowledge I should have, coming into this course with a poor knowledge about expository and narrative writing. Once I entered this course, the information that was received about expository and narrative writing helped me tremendously. I became accustomed to the new writing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My weakness that was evident in my writing was my grammar, I made a few mistakes that could ve been fixed had I revised my grammar more intently. Overall I enjoyed this writing because it was based off a topic that I could relate to easily. I learned that if I organize my ideas prior to writing, it makes it a lot easily to write about. Reflection: The prompt of the reflection was to reflect on a topic and question it. I wrote about love and why it is that we love certain things. In my writing, I explained how individuals fall in love based off quality memories that they have of that a person, place, or thing. My purpose was to provide the reader with enough information to convince them that love is based off memories. The toughest challenge that I faced was finding enough information to support my claim. Through multiple hours of searching the web I was able to find enough information that supported my claim and was satisfied with my draft that was submitted. While I was revising my paper my focus was to eliminate any grammatical and or spelling errors that may have been made. Throughout my writing the strength of it was my sensory imagery, when I talked about my grandmother s home I made sure to give the reader a good mental image. Another strength that was evident in my writing was my personal experiences, giving a perspective from my eyes to give the reader a better sense of what I was trying to say. The weakness of this paper was my
  • 44. What Is the Objective of Internet Censorship in Public... Shawn Nephi Klaxx What is the objective of internet censorship in public schools? Is it effective and does it do more good than bad? When talking about internet censorship in schools, heated debates are always bound to arise on what they should block, how strict they should be, and if they should even be there. The topic of fettered or unfettered internet is a hot topic and can be both good and bad for education. When talking about something that sounds like such a small topic it is important to remember that everyday our lives and the internet are becoming more and more intertwined. Now phones and computers are almost always linked to the internet. In this ever evolving world that is becoming more and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like everything else there are laws that are placed on the internet and these laws are expected to be followed. When these laws are broken they can be punishable under two categories, Federal or International (being that it is a World Wide Web database(No one owns it)). It is important to teach students these laws and the consequences of breaking these laws. Because it is easier to teach a child something then to teach them as a grown adult. Teachers and parents alike argue that Internet filters should be applied but no one can come to an agreement on to what extent the strictness of these filters should be. Congress, in 2000 enacted the Children s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act. The act provides three different types of funding; 1) aid to elementary and secondary schools; 2) Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grants to States for support of public libraries; and 3) the E rate program that provides technology discounts to schools and public libraries. ( Children and the Internet National Conference of State Legislation). This is a good way to protect children from harmful threats on the Internet. There is lots of harmful material on the Internet though, Perhaps most troubling is the role Internet has come to play in bullying and harassment, highlighted by the series of high profile suicides in the last few
  • 45. The Basic Idea Of Hadoop Basic Idea : Parallelization The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if a processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce programming framework have been to solve the partition problem. The Problem : Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable amount of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. To this account, Hadoop compute framework provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and code to participating nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP. Mapping Lists: A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time. Each element is individually transformed to an output data element. Reducing Lists : In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of inputvalues from the input list is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single output value. Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values) All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify related values. The input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are (Key,Value) pairs. Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space) All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the same key are given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations occurring on other lists of values associated with different keys. Input Files : An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this input file resides in HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning across multiple nodes. InputFormat : InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. InputFormat is a java class which provides functionalities like selecting the files that needs to be used as input, defining InputSplits that breaks
  • 46. Persepolis And The Iranian Revolution In the graphic novel, Persepolis Marjane s way of living is completely changed by the Iranian Revolution. The Iranian revolution entails the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under the Shah , Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi. After 1979, the main character of the novel, Marjane, is about ten years old and lives through the changes made after the revolution beginning in primary school. These changes as a new Islamic republic included a stricter government, capital punishment for protest, mandatory dress codes for both men and women, and a reformed education system based on the Shia Muslim religion where students are separated based on their gender. This reformation makes it more difficult for Marjane being a young girl in Iranin 1980 because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To a ten year old child, Marjane, for instance, it is a strong reason to protest and question these actions because a big shift in her school has taken place from a non religious school with little legislation to a fully reformed school highly based upon religion. Marjane looks to faces of disgust for these new regulations and eventually progresses to vocal rebellion as her education progresses. The early stages of education reformation besides dress code also include religion based education and gender based learning with no opposition from citizens. Before the Iranian revolution, schools were not mandatory to be religious and if they were, they had freedom of religion to practice something other than Shia Islam. This change of a religious school base is stated by the Library of Congress due to a three pronged program that involved purging courses and textbooks believed to slander Islam and substituting courses on religion; purging teachers to ensure that only those who understood the true meaning of Islam (i.e., were not secular) remained in the schools.. (Metz). This change did has not only eliminated many teachers that Marjane was used to out of her life but was a sudden change from her non religious school background. Regardless of what the children of that time believed in, they had to conform to the rules of a 1980 Iranian school system, Marjane expresses her feelings towards her schools
  • 47. A Report on the Management of Change Report on the Management of Change Part One: Case study 1. Introduction At the beginning of 2012, Martin Scott, the CEO and half owner of Alhambra Software Solutions, reflected on the situation of the company. He was proud that the organization had followed an ascendant path throughout the previous years, and had not been hit by the devastating effects of the internationalized economic crisis. Alhambra Software Solutions had registered tremendous increases in employees, revenues, as well as customers served and projects completed. From the outside, it all looked impressive and the company seemed flawless. Still, Scott was worried by the fact that two of his senior software developers had handed in their resignations that morning. Michael Tors and Janine Moss had been with the company since its early stages; they had grown within Alhambra Software Solutions ever since they had graduated from university, to this day, when they are reputable and valuable senior developers. The decisions of Tors and Moss intrigued the chief executive officer, who had always believed that the firm had created a positive working environment for its employees. Still, looking back, he now realizes that Tors and Moss were not the single senior software developers who left the firm. In fact, there were several seniors that had left the company in the past year, and if he recollects well the majority of the new people hired, were mainly junior developers. Reflecting on the situation,
  • 48. Feasibility Of Designing Partial Agonists Of The Human... This article presents a study performed to demonstrate the feasibility of designing partial agonists of the human muscarinic M1 receptor that would modulate the receptor in two distinct ways simultaneously. It also explains the signaling behavior of the receptor. The muscarinic M1 receptor was described as the one of five subtypes of the muscarinic G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) with the highest expression in the central nervous system. Two downstream effects of activating the M1 receptor were identified, activating of phospholipase C mainly by Gq/G11 proteins and influencing ion channels like the N methyl D aspartate (NMDA) receptor and voltage gated Ca2+ channels. These two ion channels were reported to be therapeutic importance in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hybrids synthesized were classified into four main groups (2, 3, 4, and 5) based on the orthosteric agonist, the allosteric moiety and the number of carbon atoms in the linker moiety. Derivatives of benzyl quinolone carboxylic acids (BQCA), that function as positive allosteric modulators and allosteric agonists of M1 receptors were linked with the M2 selective orthosteric superagonist, Iperoxo in hybrids 2 and 3. In hybrid 4, another derivative of BQCA was linked with the compound 1 (AF292), a M1 selective agonist. Hybrid 5 was synthesized with compound 1 linked to the allosteric binding moiety of an allosteric agonist, 1 (1′ (2 methylbenzyl) 1,4′ bipiperidin 4 yl) 1H benzo[d]imidazol 2(3H) one (TBPB) using linker moieties of three different lengths. The response obtained when the receptors were saturated with Acetylcholine, the endogenous muscarinic ligand, was defined as the system s maximal response. The data obtained from the DMR measurements were reported to have been analyzed using the operational model of agonism for dynamic ligands. From the results, iperoxo did not function as a superagonist at the M1 receptor. The synthesized hybrid compounds in the groups 2 and 3 were observed to act as partial agonists at the M1 receptor. The substitutions on the quinolone moiety of group 2 compounds were said to have no
