1. How To Write A Intro Paragraph For An
Essay
Writing an essay on the intricacies of crafting an introductory paragraph might seem deceptively
simple, yet delving into the nuances can unveil a complex undertaking. The challenge lies in
striking a balance between capturing the reader's attention and succinctly introducing the essay's
main ideas. Crafting a compelling opening requires a keen understanding of the essay's purpose,
audience, and overall structure.
Firstly, one must grapple with the art of hooking the reader. The choice of a captivating
anecdote, a thought-provoking quote, or a compelling statistic can make or break the
introduction. It demands a creative touch and an understanding of what resonates with the target
audience. Selecting the right hook to establish a connection with the reader while setting the
tone for the rest of the essay can be a formidable task.
Simultaneously, the introduction must smoothly transition into a clear and concise thesis
statement. Formulating a thesis that encapsulates the essay's main argument or purpose is no
small feat. It necessitates a careful consideration of the essay's central message and the key
points that will be explored in subsequent paragraphs.
Additionally, maintaining relevance and coherence in the introductory paragraph poses a
challenge. It requires a writer to resist the temptation of veering off into tangential topics and to
stay focused on laying the groundwork for the rest of the essay. Striking this balance demands a
mastery of both the macro structure of the essay and the micro details of sentence construction.
In conclusion, crafting an introductory paragraph for an essay involves a delicate interplay of
creativity, strategic thinking, and linguistic precision. It is a task that requires not only a deep
understanding of the essay's content but also an awareness of the reader's expectations.
Navigating these complexities makes writing such an essay a challenging but ultimately
rewarding endeavor.

8 Apr 2011 Woodstock: Peace, Music, and Memories In the summer of 1969, a
music festival known as Woodstock took place for three straight days in Upstate,
New York with thirty two musical acts playing, and over 400,000 people from
around the world coming to join this musical and peaceful movement. Woodstock
started out being a small concert, created to promote peace in the world. Now,
Woodstock is still being celebrated over 40 years later. This three day music festival
represented the perfect concert for the baby boomers during a messy political time.

3. Did Rome Change The British Coins Essay
There is the argument that Rome did completely change the British coins. Which,
many argue because of the image of Apollo and Diana in many coins. But against this
argument you can see the very uniquely British characters on the reverse or obverse
of these coins. The British created their own unique iconography. Even with roman
influence their coins never took on the Roman weight standard or the style on a full
coin. But another argument of Roman influence and its change on British is the
change in the spread of coinage after the Roman invasion and change before Romes
full conquest. During the beginning of the Roman reign there was a wider spread
throughout Britain of coinage and a simplification and devolving of diversification of
coinage. But this change in Britain could be due to roman influence and cultural

There is a lot proof to counteract this hypothesis. With most coinage using the roman
style of portrait but putting their own king name on the coinage, telling the Roman

Reign British coinage got less elaborate and a lot of coinage went back to the mound
style, almost protesting the Roman way of doing things. Also, the argument of
Roman influence is that certain places like Wales did not have its own coinage before
the Roman invasion, leading Roman completely influencing their coinage, which is
mostly true. But, one needs to understanding this paper is focusing on the parts of
Britain s with before coinage to see and understand the societal change. Also this
paper does not cover all of Britain and every tribe, this is mostly focusing on the tribes

The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy, and Editha Charlotte
Perkins Gilman s piece, The Yellow Wallpaper (written in 1890, published in 1892),
is a semi autobiographical piece that, although believed to be a result of her severe
postpartum depression, illustrates the difficulties faced by women during the Women
s Movement. These difficulties are further illustrated by the similarly semi
autobiographical poem, based on Plath s father and husband, Daddy by Sylvia Plath
(written in 1962, published in 1965). These gender roles are then reversed in Editha,
(written in 1898, published in 1905) which has been said to be William Dean Howells

The initial description of this woman is of her stooping down and creeping about.
The woman in the wallpaper is a direct reflection of the narrator s confidence and
feelings of inferiority, and the change they undergo. Initially, the woman in the
wall symbolizes the narrator s fear of presenting herself and her opinions, and
being her husband s equal. She begins to display a building confidence in herself,
and an almost amused view of John s orders. When John tells her that she seems to
be doing well, in spite of the wallpaper, she has to stop herself from openly
laughing. It is at this point, where she is building confidence in herself, that she
begins to see the woman in the wallpaper more clearly. She states, I think that
woman gets out in the daytime! And I ll tell you why privately I ve seen her!
symbolizing her confidence beginning to emerge. Finally, she allows herself to be
fully confident; she allows her mind to fully explore the wallpaper. The lines, then I
peeled off all the paper I could reach standing on the floor. It sticks horribly and the
pattern just enjoys it, symbolizes the destruction of that which limits her. One may
argue that she has had a psychotic break, but the intention of these lines is to show
the narrator gaining confidence. As Gilman says herself in an article submitted to the
October 1913 issue of The Forerunner regarding her treatment: then, using the

8. Becaus Just As In The Lottery Rhetorical Analysis
People cannot think clearly when they are afraid. As numerous studies have
shown, fear is the enemy of reason. It distorts emotions and perceptions, and often
leads to poor decisions. Within a society motivated by fear, it leads to a solicitous
of paranoia, hysteria, manipulation, and a lack of productivity. For people who
have suffered trauma, fear messages can sometimes trigger uncontrollable flight or
fight responses with dangerous consequences. Yet over time, many interlocking
aspects of our society have become increasingly advanced at conversing messages
and information that produce fear reactions. Advertising, political ads, news
coverage, literature and social media all send the constant message that people
should be afraid. Whereas in the context of pervasive fear, large portions of the
population are extremely vulnerable to fear based messaging within their everyday
lives. There are many examples of the vulnerable among us, they re numerous and
constant, though difficult to assess, since there is likely so much overlap. Fear is so
prevalent that experts have made the case we live in a generalized culture of fear, ...

The SBRP however belongs to a larger class dubbed the Vehicle routing Problem
(VRP).
The Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) can be defined as a logistics problem that
involves the design of best possible routes for the pickup and delivery of students
from a start off point to a destination, where each student is dispersed over a large
area. (Laporte, 1992)
There are various problems associated with the VRP, these problems include;
Capacitated VRP, VRP with Time windows and VRP with pickup and delivery to
name a few. The Vehicle routing problem has several variations. Some of these
variations are;
School Bus Routing Problem (SBRP)
Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP)
Capacitated VRP (CVRP) (Toth and Vigo, 2002).
The SBRP has been dealt extensively in various literature, although approaching the
problem in different ways.
Newton and Thomas (1974) where one of the first authors to tackle the SBRP,
however their theory strongly supported the concept of a homogeneous fleet of

The UniSA s School of Law is a heritage building with important historical value. It
was built in 1940 41 for the administrative headquarters of the South Australian
Brewing Company. In 1956, extensions were added to the original building. The
Georgian style of the building, was designed by the architect F Kenneth Milne,
who chose clay brick masonry as the material for the structure (Adelaide City

in 1954 (Sinadinovski, Greenhalgh Love 2006), wind loads, humidity, temperature
variations, internal loads and other forces. All these factors have an impact on the
structure and it has led the building to several small structural damages. The aim of
this paper is to research and study the structural behavior of clay brick masonry and
analyse the damages on the UniSA Law building. This will lead to an
understanding of what factors led to the failures and propose an approach of how it

Wind, rain and small quakes that Adelaide has experienced since being built has had
an effect on the building. The wind and rain has caused wear and tear over long

the Law building even though they have rarely occurred in Adelaide. These effects on
the building depend on the magnitude of the earthquake. The biggest earthquake that
the building has experienced happened in 1954 which was recorded to be 5.6 on the
Richter scale. This had an effect on all parts of the building, both internal and
external. These were from the foundations of the building to the roof, damaging the

11. Comparing Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells
1.Compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Be sure to address cell
structure, replication (including DNA replication) and gene expression.
The cell structure of prokaryotic organisms is small, only about 1 10 microns in
length, and they are also single celled. Prokaryotes contain circular DNA which is
held in the nucleoid because they lack a nucleus. The specific organisms that have
circular DNA are: mitochondrial, bacterial (eubacteria), and Archaea
(Methanobacteria, Halobacteria, and sulfobacteria). Prokaryotes have no membrane
bound organelles because they have no organelles. Their ribosomal subunits are 50S
and 30S which come to equal 70S, and their plasma membrane does not contain
sterols. In prokaryotes, there is one large vacuole per cell which takes up 50 90% of
cell and serves as a reservoir for water; this helps hold turgor pressure in plants.
Prokaryotes also cannot go through endo or exocytosis, and their cell wall is made
of peptidoglycan. The replication properties of prokaryotes includes Theta Mode
Replication, in which there is only a single origin of replication, but two replication
forks. The Okazaki Frangments are 1000 2000 base pairs in length, and the formation
of the cell plate is done by the phragmosome. Proteins and RNA help the DNA to fold
proteins because prokaryotes do not have histones. Transcription and translation
occur simultaneously because prokaryotes have no plasma membrane, therefore no
posttranscriptional modifications

Abstract
This article seeks to find which of the macroeconomic variables among FDI inflow,
current account balance, inflation and interest rate play a significant role in
economic growth in Malaysia using the SPSS Regression method for a time period
of 14 years from 1995 to 2008 (Oct). The results of the research indicated that FDI
and inflation are not significantly related to economic growth in Malaysia during the
period of study. However, CA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, FDI is said to be the most important contributing factor for Malaysia s
economic performance. The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to
Malaysian soil started with the introduction of the Investment Incentives Act 1968,
and followed by the establishment of the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) during the
Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has attracted a large portion
of the investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example, Malaysia was
the second largest FDI recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion.
Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and
1997 respectively. The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of
confidence as a result of the Asian financial crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that
investor confidence had improved. Malaysia s highest FDI inflow was recorded in
2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion from USD 6.0 billion in 2006.
FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign
country. Foreign direct investments create a strong demand for a local currency and
help boost the economy. With money coming into a country, strong foreign direct
investment is one way governments can finance current account deficits. However,
just as funds flow in, they also can flow out,
13. Symbolism In Into The Wild
Symbols are used to represent many things, including distance, isolation, and
journeys. Into the Wild is a film that is based off a true story, which was written by
Jon Krakauer. Into the Wild contains many symbols related to the topics of
distance, isolation, and journeys. Likewise, The Catcher in the Rye, written by
J.D. Salinger, includes a series of symbols as well. The title, Into the Wild,
represents Chris McCandless s journey of finding himself when he runs away from
his home, so he can live in the wild. The title of The Catcher in the Rye is symbolic
of what Holden wants to be when he is older. Holden wants to be the person who
waits by the rye and catches all the kids that are about to jump off. This represents
how Holden is scared of the transfer from childhood to adulthood, he wants to
prevent the kids from growing up. A great story... Show more content on

Money influenced them to do what the believe in and to think what they want to
think. Salinger wrote in the perspective of a teenager who is almost obsessed with
money. To Holden the amount of money someone has represents what they are
like. As stated, It isn t important, I know, but I hate it when somebody has cheap
suitcases. It sounds terrible to say it, but I can even get to hate somebody, just
looking at them, if they have cheap suitcases with them (Salinger 121). This quote
shows that Holden was so caught up in the world of money that it makes him sick
to see someone to have even one thing cheap. On the other hand, Chris believed
money was not needed. In the beginning of the film, Chris is seen during all his
money and then living on his feet and the stuff on his back. Chris does not care
about money at all, he never wanted to be associated with money. While Holden
loved money, possibly more than life itself, Chris hated money as much as he hated
his abusive father. To tie together, both stories contain the symbols of money, hats, and

To further examine the book s worth as a historical guide it is important to note the
great details described in terms of process and specifications of the late Arrow.
Peden captures a multitude of statistics and draws on technical background making
his book an excellent source for facts and figures. Moreover the book explains
much of the technical focus of the Arrow project detractors, for this takes up the
larger portion of his case. In the event that one should need to back up concepts
and theories regarding the Arrow project and the surrounding political and
economic affairs, Peden provides an extremely valuable source. There is much to
be mentioned in terms of the people who drove the project, engineers, cooperative
Americans who s resources made much of the project viable, and the leadership of
Crawford Gordon. Unfortunately this source is skimpy on the preceding variables,
compromising it s historic worth in terms of key personalities. It would be this
papers contention that Peden s work is an excellent source for the enhancement and
crystallization of prior knowledge on the subject matter, due to it s technological
base. It is also being suggested here that the historic value of the political and
decision making process observed throughout the period of the 1956 58, may be
oversimplified in Peden s case

17. Taking a Look at Natioanl Parks
A national park is an area set aside by a nation s government to protect natural beauty,
wildlife, or other remarkable features. Some national parks protect entire
environments like coral reefs, deserts, grasslands, mountain ranges, or rain forests.
Today about 1,500 national parks protect about 1.5 million square miles. Theodore
Roosevelt had a huge impact on the national parks we know today. The three I found
most interesting include The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Sequoia
National Park, and the Everglades National Park.
Theodore Teddy Roosevelt had a huge impact on the national park system that
extended well beyond his term in office. Teddy Roosevelt first came to the
Badlands in September 1883. Big game hunting had initially brought him to the
west, as he spent more time in this area, he became more and more alarmed by the
damage that was being done to the land and the wildlife. After this, conservation
became one of Roosevelt s main concerns. After he became president in 1901,
Roosevelt used his authority to protect wildlife and public lands by creating the U.S.
Forest Service. He also established fifty one federal bird reservations, four national
game services, one hundred and fifty national forests, five national parks and created
the Antiquities Act which he used to officially declare eighteen national monuments.
Roosevelt has been called many times our country s Conservation President He is
remembered with a National Park that bears

The scientists will be working on a recently discovered Mammoth that was found
dripping blood in Siberia. If the somatic cloning process is a success, it is said that
there will be a successfully cloned Mammoth by 2017. However, somatic cloning is
renowned to be very difficult, so the scientists are simply challenged with the
question, can a Mammoth be cloned? This essay will argue that the Mammoth can
not be resurrected. This is because no matter how well preserved the Mammoth
appears, the DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case that scientists do find a Mammoth that is in absolutely pristine
condition and has intact DNA in the nucleus that is prime for the somatic cloning
process, the chances that scientists will end up with a baby Mammoth are still
slim. An article written by Alasdair Wilkins in 2011 stated that despite technology
becoming more advanced cloning still remains a frustratingly inexact process, one
where a single successful fertilisation out of hundreds of failed attempts would be
considered a massive achievement (Wilkins, 2011). Cloning is still an entirely
experimental technology, and that any successful attempt should be considered
purely a matter of chance and luck (Wilkins, 2011). In support of this, an article
from the University of Utah (2015) stated that cloning animals through somatic
cloning nuclear transfer is simply inefficient, with success rates ranging from
0.1% to 3% (University of Utah, 2015). Meaning for every 1000 attempts, only one
to thirty clones are made (University of Utah, 2015). Couple with the fact that the
Mammoth DNA could be over 40,000 years old, there is little DNA available and
there is a surrogate mother, the success rate drops to around 0.01% (University of
Utah, 2015). The somatic cloning process has such a low success rate because of two
major things that can go wrong. First,

Introduction The objective of this report is to analyse two clients using primary and
secondary data in these following areas: пѓ Their financial Literacy skills пѓ Their
risk Tolerance пѓ From the data how will you effectively communicate in relation to
the two clients пѓ Email regarding communication effectiveness within the business
To assess the above criteria a hypothetical scenario was made that both clients had
received an inheritance of $40,000 and how with go about investing their money
investing their money. The effective communication is to address common business
communication skills, where email will be developed to inform and outline
effective letter writing skills. Financial Literacy Skills Financial literacy is
relatively broad to define, as it solemnly depends on ones knowledge and ability to
interpretation of financial terms and concepts (Worthington 2006). An individual
understanding financial literacy revolves around influential aspects of their lives
such education, experience, income and work experiences. The two clients analysed
in this report both had different understanding of specific financial literacy skills.
Client 1 Client 1 was a 23 year old male born overseas , who works within the
financial sector and held a bachelors degree in business commerce, his financial
literacy skills were good certain areas. His strengths revolved around a good
understanding on superannuation and the housing markets. His weakness revolved

21. The Eruption Of Mount Vesuvius Analysis
Millions of deaths. One reason a volcanic eruption. How could one volcano kill so
many people? The fumes and ashes that a volcano spits out can be ingested, killing
many. Then the hot lava comes, killing more. This is a tragic way to die; however, it
has happened several times in history in many different places.
The Eruption of Mount Vesuviuswas written by Pliny the Younger. He tells about
his experiences leading up to his uncle s death. Pliny explains the chain of events
and how people reacted. First, the ash cloud rose to a great height on a sort of
trunk and then split off into branches. People debated whether to stay indoors or
take their chance in the open because no one knew which way would be safer.
Then sheets of fire and leaping flames blazed at several points on Vesuvius, while
his uncle was trying to calm people down. When they were trying to figure out an
escape, Pliny s uncle died from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story, Pliny s uncle tried to allay the fears of his companions by repeatedly
declaring that there was nothing by bonfires left by peasants. He knew he needed
to get the people out of the town, so he decided to go down to the shore and
investigate on the spot of the possibility of escape by sea. He thought they could
depart from one of the close ports but the sea had big waves so it would not have
worked. Pliny s uncle was a hero by trying to calm people down just like the mayor
did when Nevado Del Ruiz volcano erupted. He was talking to people and told them
to stay calm and not to worry. He had looked for means of escape just like Pliny s
uncle did. Sadly, there was not a way for for them to leave either. Both of these
leaders were trying to save their people, but did not have enough time and ways to
transport their people to safety. This shows great leadership and love for their family
and people. Guidance in the year 79 was the same more than one hundred years
22. Analysis Of Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
The book, Whale Done, written by Ken Blanchard, exemplifies how a business
manager named Wes Kinsley learns the key to managing relationships while on a trip
to SeaWorld. Kinsley uncovers the secret to managing positive relationships with
people by witnessing how trainers at SeaWorld receive incredible responses from
their whales by highlighting their positive behaviour, and ignoring or redirecting their
negative behaviours. In the book, Blanchard contrasts the GOTcha manager, one who
seeks to only accentuate the negative properties of individuals actions with the
WHALE DONE manager, who highlights and tries to reinforce positive behaviour.

management... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in
communication. Negative responses are useful in order to keep workers inline
and stopping them from breaking rules. It can be necessary in many situations;
however, managers of today still abuse negative responses. There are examples of
modern day managers using negative responses and finding success. For example,
John Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National
Hockey League has found success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but
he actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning,
winning the Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his teams success.
(Cooper, 2015). He is often seen as a villain in the hockey community, but his
success is clearly attributable to his negative responses and negative attitude. This
tough relationship he has with his players must improve their play because he has
been a coach on and off in the league since 2001. Blanchard s ideologies clearly go
against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no denying his success.
This style of management can be successful in some places, and modern managers
have to understand when to apply this style. Clearly Blanchard s methods are
successful, but so are

similar complication rates and equivalent diagnostic yield with that of smaller

been found to influence the development as well as the severity of post biopsy
complications. A study conducted by Wang et al[48] concluded that smoking, supine

risk factors for post biopsy pneumothorax. Eva Branden et al[8] observed that there
was an increased risk for pneumothorax when the biopsied lesion was small or when
the emphysema was in the path of the biopsy needle. Stanley et al[49] conducted a
study to evaluate the diagnostic yield and complications of CT guided thoracic

size and lesion depth. Risk factors influencing haemoptysis rate were found to be the
traversed lung length and lesion size. Analysis of risk factors affecting complications

A similar observation was noted by Guimaraes et al[6] in their study that evaluated

predictor of post biopsy pneumothorax with the highest incidence reported for
subpleural lesions. Radiological evaluation of bronchogenic carcinoma

It is the leading cause of cancer deaths in both men and women worldwide
accounting for approximately 27% of all cancer deaths[54]. This carcinoma is

Passenger carrying vehicles are generally categorized into the following three
classes for underwriting purposes; public hire vehicles, private hire Chauffeur
driven vehicles and private hire self drive vehicles (Canner, 2007). Public hire
vehicles are licensed to ply for hire. They include vans, mini buses and pick ups.
The vehicles are hailed in the streets though local bylaws restrict the waiting points
of such vehicles. This class is regarded as the highest risk because of maximum use
of the vehicle and drivers coupled with high levels of moral hazard.
Private Hire Chauffeur driven vehicles are hired for passenger travel through the
operator s office or agency. The vehicles tend to cover extensive mileage with
drivers working for long shifts. One sector of this class which is regarded as good
is the prestige limousine arena where vehicles are used for wedding purposes, as
hearses and for other private functions. Finally, Private Hire Self drive vehicles are
made available to the hirer. Regrettably the vehicles which fall under this class are
misused by the hirers. To mitigate this, a pre and post hire inspection is carried out
by the owners of the vehicles (poll M., et al, 2009).

Because of their nature as being protracted contracts of an excessive cost,
shipbuilding contracts may entail a number of serious risks for both their
counterparts, that may result to great damage in their financial standing.
While at the past years the shipbuilding market witnessed a period of economic

30. Venezuela s Presidency And Leadership
Latin America s history has been paved by the various social movements that give a
voice to the indigenous and the forgotten populations. In Venezuela, the Bolivarian
Revolution sparked a movement that fought to liberalize the country from the elitist
and foreign influence. Under Hugo Chavez s presidency and leadership, the
Bolivarian Revolution flourished as a leftist social movement in pursue of popular
democracy, economic independence, equality, and an end to political corruption. In
this paper I will discuss the origin of such an impactful movement, its significance,
success and failure. As well as, how it shaped Venezuelas present day.
Emergence
During the 20th century, Venezuela s agricultural based economy transition into an
economy heavily based on the exportation of oil, thus increasing the country s GDP
in Latin America. Although, the export of oil increased Venezuela s economic
power, it also brought an immense amount of inequality between the elites and
ordinary citizens. In addition, Venezuela experienced an economic crisis in the
1980s and 1990s, thus leading to a political crisis, which motivated the people of
Venezuela to demand a change. The Bolivarian Revolution began in 1992 after Hugo
Chavez attempt to overthrow the current president, Carlos Andres Perez, failed. In
1994, Chavez transformed what was once his military coup into a revolutionary, anti
system movement. Following Chavez s release from prison, he took office as
president of Venezuela in 1999
31. Comparitive Flood Stories Essay
Comparitive Flood Stories Most comparisons between Genesis and ancient
Creation or Flood stories can be classified as comparative religious studies. They
generally involve one text isolated from its original historical context (e.g., the
Babylonian creation myth Enuma Elish or the Flood tablet of the Gilgamesh Epic)
and one related biblical narrative. On the basis of currently available evidence, their
earliest known written form can be dated only to the first half of the first millenium
B.C. William Shea of Andrews University has pointed out that by using isolated,

32. Personal Responsibility Work And Opportunity Act Analysis
The Personal Responsibility Work and Opportunity Act was a bill that was passed
into law in 1996. This law created a new program called Temporary Assistance to
Needy Families (TANF). The changes in the TANF program were significantly
different than the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. The
TANF program became a part of the national welfarereform which puts a stop to
women with children being entitled to an endless amount of cash benefits. Welfare
reform was part of President Bill Clinton and his campaign s promise to end welfare
as we know it (Gilbert and Terrell 2013 p.74). The sponsor of this bill was a
Republican representative for Ohio s 12th Congressional district and his name was

bill. On August 22, 1996 President Bill Clinton signed the bill for Personal
Responsibility Work and Opportunity Act to become a law. The party affiliations of
this act are Republicans and Democrats. Both parties were crucial in the process of
getting the bill to be passed into law. The stakeholders are people who are affected by

Many, many bitter faces were scrutinising me; it looked as though the whole town

Smiths, especially Elizabeth, she was like the daughter I never had. I had feared
the worst when I found her. When I rushed to her aid my fears became reality. Her
cold body, lying in the soft, blood stained grass. Her lifeless eyes staring blankly into
mine.
Perhaps hundreds of people glaring right at me, as I marched slowly towards the

A man with an apple like frame slowly approached me, Were you the house slave for

Yes sir, I can talk.
Then he grumbled, Tell us what happened on the night of little Elizabeth s death. I
answered with great caution including details about what had happened that dreadful
night, although it did not seem like he nor the large audience believed me.
As I returned to my seat, the man stayed on the floor and stated, A good dog is like
a nigger. You can get to know it, maybe some get to love it, it has no particular use

When Eugene took the floor for one last fight for justice, he addressed the crowd
with great emotion, Some negroes lie, some are immoral, some negro men are not to

34. Considerations For Effective Organizational Change
What Is Organizational Change?
Organizational change is the term used to describe the transformation process that a
company goes through in response to a strategic reorientation, restructure, change in
management, merger or acquisition or the development of new goals and objectives
for the company. The realignment of resources and the redeployment of capital can
bring many challenges during the transformation process and organizational change
management seeks to address this by adopting best practice standards to assist with
the integration of new company vision.
Organizational change is not just change for the sake of change itself. The major
precursor for organizational change is some form of exogenous force such as an
external ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If workers don t embrace or see the reason for change, resentment and resistance can
occur You have to emphasize the positive reason for the change and convey it to the
workers. This way, improve the chances of support.
For effective organizational change, you should create a transition management team.
You should also select a change leader from every department and conduct regular
meetings. This will comprise the transition team that can drive the change initiatives
and help facilitate and implement the initiatives throughout the various departments.
This also provides a support structure for the initiatives. Resources should be provided
to the transition management team.
Additional Considerations For Effective Organizational Structure:
Evaluation of the aesthetic appeal is essential for effective organizational change.
The plan should be clear defined goals and rationale and should be concise. Ensure
that the decision makers within the organization are onboard. Any change in the
policy affects the operation of the organization which needs broad approval at some
levels.
Ensure you adequately define the nature of the changes. This will help team members
and employees to interpret the core objectives.
You should measure whether the change has taken place or not. Often this process is
neglected but to ensure effective organizational change you need to have predefined
benchmarks to measure implementation progress.

It seems that in going through Chiquita s company background, that they have been
somewhat of a shady brand since its origin. Eli Black, CEO in 1970, paid a US$1.25
million bribe to Honduran official in return for them reducing taxes on the company s
banana exports. He then proceeded to kill himself. The next CEO, Carl Linder, was
know for bottom fishing and led the company into bankrupty in 2002. Next in line to
assume the title was Agguire.
It seemed that he was faced with an overwhelming load of problems from Chiquita
s past, but he quickly decided on the best way to fix it. He told CEO Magazine in
2007, [Chiquita s] key challenge is to control costs while supporting innovation
efforts. Cost saving programs have not been nearly enough to offset higher industry

competitive, fast paced marketplace that is characterized by growing consumer
expectations [...] and that in order to strengthen the [...] power of the brand, [they] are
developing strategies based on consumer brands for healthy, fresh foods and focusing
on diversification and innovation (5). He made it clear from the beginning that
Chiquita would be transitioning from the low margin operations to a company that
produced more value added products. Also, that they would begin to maintain an
excellent record of food safety, quality, management, customer service, and in store
36. Economic, Social, and Political Problems in the Post-Civil...
Americans suffered many economic, social, and political problems in the post
Civil War era. I have identified one of each of these types of problems that I
believe were among the most important during the period of 1865 1900. The
economic issue that I believe had one of the biggest impacts on Americans at the
time is the Great Railroad Strike of 1877. The social issue that I feel greatly affected
America after the Civil War is Chinese immigration. One of the biggest political
issues, to me, is the Populist Party. I feel that the Great Railroad Strike of 1887 was a
major issue because it made Americans realize just how deeply Americans were
invested in the railroads. At the time, the biggest investment banking firm in America,

The strike lasted all of 45 days, and became to lose steam and effectively come to a

record of the losses faced by the country during this strike, but it is reported that the
engineers and firemen s brotherhoods lost approximately $600,000 over the forty
five days of the strike, while for the Burlington Railroad the losses were at least
$2,100,000. In Pittsburgh, it was estimated that property damage reached over three
million dollars, with Chicago, Baltimore and other cities facing losses of a similar
magnitude. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Railroad_Strike) I believe that
Chinese immigration during the period after the Civil War was a very big issue
because it showed just how unwilling ordinary, white citizens were to let another
inferior race into the country. Chinese immigrants had been arriving in large
quantities starting during the mid 19th century. Most of worked as laborers, usually
on the transcontinental railroad (such as the Central Pacific Railroad) and in the

employers being eager to get this new and cheap labor, but the ordinary white public

that was not present within more predatory portrayals of the vampiregenre. Each of
the flatmates represents a former portrayal of vampires within the horror genre. We
can see how What We Do In The Shadows is drawing from previous texts to make
commentary on the shift within the genre and within society. Earlier representations
of vampires were developed in the 18th and 19th century myths of vampires. Some
theories believe that these characteristics came from symptoms of disease and the
myth of the vampire was used to explain what the technology of the time could not.
We still use the tropes and characteristics from these former portrayals but now the
motivations of the characters have shifted. Genres and fiction often reflect society.
Older content may no longer be relevant to the world around us. The vampire genre

resulted in a whole new set of issues that don t relate to that of a 19th century villager.
The purpose of a mockumentary is to make fiction appear as fact. Mockumentaries

Dubliners
Joyce s Juxtaposition of Catholicism and Aesthetics James Joyce was a prolific
Irish writer who wrote about Ireland and the troubles the people of Ireland faced.
According to the Volume Library Encyclopedia, with Ireland being about 94 %
Roman Catholic, religion is a motif brought forth prominently in Joyce s works. In
Dubliners, his book of short stories as well as his supposed autobiography, Portrait of
the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce shows religious turmoil and indecision through his
characters. Stephen Dedalus, the main character in the journal like story of Portrait of
the Artist as a Young Man, goes through an internal turmoil of his own throughout the
entire book on how he would view religion. He shows certain extremities of... Show

On this retreat he hears sermons about sin, hell, and guilt among other things.
Through hearing Father Arnall s sermon about hell he is scared and horrified
recognizing hell as his imminent destiny. He takes a nap and has nightmares of
creatures waiting for him in a field like in hell. He applied these to himself and
began to hate the life he lived. His soul sickened at the thought of a torpid snaky
life feeding itself out of the tender marrow of his life and fattening upon the slime
of lust (Portrait 151) After a time period of chronic sin and negligence to his faith,
Stephen tried fervently to regain his faith through repentance and reconciliation.
In his repentance he tells the priest this, His sins trickled from his lips, one by one,
trickled in shameful drops from his soul festering and oozing like a sore, a squalid
stream of vice. The last sins oozed forth, sluggish, filthy. (Portrait 159). He
suddenly viewed life differently and it seemed that his old life of sin was abolished
with his religious epiphany on his retreat. He viewed life in a new light. Life

39. Juan Ponce De Leon Research Paper
In 1460, in Santervas de Campos, Spain, Juan Ponce de Leon was born to a noble
family. He learned military tactics and social skills while serving as a page at the
court of Aragon. Ponce de Leon also fought against the Moors in Granada as a
soldier. Led by Christopher Columbus, Juan may have gone on the second voyage to
the West Indies. He started settlements and constructed defenses in Hispaniola for
Spain. Ponce de Leon was given the position of the provincial governor of the
eastern part of Hispaniola because he reduced a native uprising in 1504. Juan met
and married a woman named Leonora on his journey back to Spain. In 1508, the
Spanish crown officially sent Ponce de Leon to explore Puerto Rico after hearing

While at Hispaniola, I would have been able to see how settlements and colonies
would be set up in the different regions, depending on the different geography and
climate of each region. Settlements and colonies are the start of civilizations, and I
would ve been able to see the growing of the settlements after returning every
couple years. Ponce de Leon also visited Florida where he was able to accomplish
the discovery and naming of the region. He was also named military governor of
Bimini and Florida. It would have been interesting to be on this voyage because he
was searching for something that was rumored to be true but never found. It
would have been fun seeing his reaction towards not finding the fountain of youth .
I m also curious if he ever realized that he sailed to North America instead of the
Caribbean Islands. Another place he visited was Puerto Rico, which was rumored
to have gold. Ponce de Leon found gold here and was named governor of Puerto
Rico. He also established a settlement here, but this time through the use of slaves. I
would have been so excited to search for gold on this journey, especially knowing
that he eventually found some. While at all of these places, I would have especially

that fall out of this spectrum, namely when a patient is unable to sign a consent

43. Describe the Concept of Jit and Its Relationship to...
Just In Time (JIT) is a management philosophy which implements systems or
processes which aims to maximise return of investment by maximising production
efficiency, improving product quality, reducing manufacturing and logistical costs,
and the elimination of waste. JIT, as the name implies, also means bringing the right
materials at the right place at the right time. Items must arrive as and when they are
needed, neither earlier nor later, but just in time . In its strictest sense, inventoryis
considered a waste in JIT. In logistics, JIT aims to eliminate waste of all forms; be it
time, resources or materials.
Although the JIT concept has been applied loosely for years by various
organisations, the JIT philosophy we know today can be ... Show more content on

Also, the computers delivered were customized according to different customer
requirements, without compromising on quality. With JIT, production levels can be
easily adjusted to meet demand. Integrated supplier and distributor networks were
instrumental in the success of Dell Computers. Without these relationships, Dell
would not have been able to support a 50+% growth rate for 3 consecutive years that
lead to $12 billion in annual sales by 1997. (Fillard, Frahm, Mercer Scott, n.d.)
Although the JIT system managed to revolutionise numerous companies in the
way they run their logistics, it is not all a bed of roses for some companies. Since
JIT does away with supply inventory, companies are sometimes forced to be over
dependent on their JIT suppliers. Sometimes they are at their suppliers mercy.
Examples of this can be found at Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Ford
faced a problem with one of its suppliers which forced them to shut down six plants
which cost them tens of millions of dollars. The supply company for General
Motors had a strike, and supplies could not be delivered. Two thirds of their plants
had to shut down. This cost GM about $600 million in profits in 1996. (Glenn, T.
2001)
For JIT to be efficiently implemented, it is vital for companies to have the right
partner suppliers which share the same JIT commitment and drive. Toyota

46. Epictetus Views On Friendship
(1) According to Aristotle there are several types of friendships we have with
people. These different friendships consists of useful friendship, pleasant friendship
and good friendship. Aristotle thinks that when we look at ourselves, we see that we
are rational animals and which then, we are, by nature, social animals. We as humans
create these different friendships in the way we think serves our needs. Aristotle also
believed that friendships should be valued very much. First friendship Aristotle talks
about is usefulness. These friendships consist of mutual needs from each other.

Happiness depends on the person and their virtues. Epictetus view is that
happiness is how we respond to the outside world and not have that outside affect
us on the inside. Epictetus believes you have to build inner tranquility in order to
stay happy. So if a family member dies, you shouldn t feel sad, or feel horrible they
are dead but instead realize that people eventually die. He believed that people
have to except that situations in life will happen and that we should not be
affected by them. Epictetus says that if people follow this way of life, they will
always be happy. Carcich 3 (4) There are two types of stoicism, one is extreme

stoicism is not showing any emotions or pain. Extreme stoics believed that people
couldn t control their feelings and that those feelings will control their life instead.
47. Persuasive Essay On American Exceptionalism
American Exceptionalism is a term used to define the ideal that America is far
superior to all other countries. It has been used to justify unfair actions and used to
cover up flaws. Children are taught from a young age that America is the model
country, and the people living there can do no wrong. In school, each bad thing that
America has done in history is skimmed over, yet the accomplishments and victories
are taught in great detail. For years, Americans have hid behind the phrase American
exceptionalism as a way to not only avoid taking responsibility for their actions but to
not push themselves to be better, as they already consider themselves perfect. The
concept of this exceptionalism impedes the progress and evolution of mankind as
they give up caring and trying to better themselves. The great diversion for every
mistake America or an American has made is the main use of this ideal. Instead of
acknowledging the bad things that they have done, Americans push their poor
choices to the side and pretend that they do not know what they have done. Instead,
they focus on the small good things they have done and do not even try to right their
wrongs. Using American exceptionalismas an excuse takes away guilt helps hide
flaws and make people feel better about themselves. From The Madness of Donald
Trump Matt Taibbi writes America, land of the mad pig president. Shove that up
your exceptionalism (Taibbi). Not only does he show both how insane and comical
America is, he

It was once said by Marcel Proust that We do not receive wisdom, we must discover
it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make
for us, which no one can spare us... . This journey through the wild to discover
wisdom is exactly what transpires in The Inferno by Dante Alighieri. The Inferno is
an epic poem that is the first section of a three part poem called The Divine Comedy.
The Inferno is about the narrator, Dante, traveling through the layers of Hell and
learning about the men and women in Hell, and ultimately why God is punishing
them there. One of the most representative parts of The Inferno as a whole is Canto

Despite not reading all of The Inferno, the certain part I did read gave me a true
illustration of the entire work. Particularly in Canto 18, readers observe Dante s
writing techniques as well as the main ideas or themes present in the work. Canto
18 is an especially excellent illustration of Dante as a visual poet and his imagery.
For example, it begins with Dante describing Malebolge as made of all stone the
color of crude iron / as is the wall that makes it way around it. / Right in the middle
of the evil field / is an abyss, a broad and yawning pit (2 5). Dante continues in
writing more of a unique description about the geography of Hell. His
descriptiveness allows readers to feel and see the cold, crude iron surrounding
Malebolge and see the huge pit in the middle, too. As when I read the description
of the geography, Dante s writing creates fear in me just as he does for other
readers in all parts of The Inferno. Besides Dante s visual poetry, he also includes
very shocking imagery that affects all five of the senses. Canto 18 holds an
excellent example of Dante s imagery. At the end of the canto, Dante writes, The
ditch beneath / held people plunged in excrement that seemed / as if it had been
poured from human privies (112 114). These few lines are a wonderful portrayal of
the extremely, shocking details he

50. Examples Of Ethics In Good Will Hunting
Abstract: The movie Good Will Hunting (1997) by Gus Van Sant depicted an
intelligent man, Will Hunting, with issues fitting in society and maintaining
relationship connections and the therapists who successfully changed Will s outlook
at the world . However, it wasn t without certain technical flaws and possible
crossing of certain code of ethics. This paper raises the issue of the potential
erroneous counseling depiction in movies and certain ethical principles that may
have been violated in such depiction, discusses connection problems of the main
character, Will Hunting, and possible reasons why one particular therapist was able
to assist him with his problems whereas other counselors have failed, as well as a
reflection based on the author s own opinion.
Cinematic movies featuring therapists are quite common and sometimes even

Cranes above Kaifeng or Auspicious Cranes is a hand scroll attributed to one of
the most artistic important figure: Late Northern Song Emperor Huizong (Sturman,

cranes flying on the sky above the main gate of the palace, Kaifeng, on the day of
Lantern Festival on the year 1112. This phenomenon was believed as a Mandate of
Heaven under the rule of Emperor Huizong (IBID). This auspicious phenomenon,
however, might not be as magical as it seems since Cranes above Kaifeng mirrors
Emperor Huizong s 3 aspects of painting that shows Emperor Huizong s power on art
during his sovereignty. Firstly, auspicious phenomenon mentioned before is known as

In other words, although he promoted realism, Cranes above Kaifeng is still
subjected to interpretation. In the painting, the cranes were dancing in an elegant
and formally choreographed dance above the city gates among the magical clouds
(Ars orientalis). Seeing this, it might not be convincing to say that the painting is
based on a real life event since it is close to impossible for the cranes to dance in an
exact beautiful formation. Although, it is not unlikely that Huizong did see cranes
above the city gates but he saw or imagine them as if they were dancing instead of
just flying through. Intentionally or not, he then depicted the event so beautifully
in the hand scroll and interpreted it as Mandate of Heaven. Furthermore, during
Huizong s reign, he focused a lot on these auspicious signs and even developed a
record of these by having the citizens to report the sightings (ars orientalis). It was
like a documentation of the blessings that were given to the Song (kertas
selembar). This system, however, made it seems like these auspicious events were
forced and did not happen naturally. This is quite fascinating because it seemed like
Huizong wanted to control Heaven s blessings and as long as the people believed
him, it did not really matter whether those auspicious events were not true. The
documentation or record that was produced acted like evidence that Song is blessed
and Huizong was indeed a legitimate leader. This
