Differences Between Pre Code And Pre-Code Movies
The magazine article describes the stark contrast in the portrayal of female sexuality between pre
Code and post Code movies. Pre Code movies are flagrantly sexual; although some contemporary
film critics believe that women were simply embracing their sexual freedom through these pre code
films, the marketing for many of these brazenly sexual films often included derisive comments
from males, suggesting that the intent of overt sexuality in films was more crude. Post code films
often used screenwriting strategies to stay within bounds of the Code. Denby argues that this
censorship actually created a net benefit for women, who were given stronger personalities and
more interesting plot lines instead of simply being sexual objects. The article suggests that
censorship led to the inception of the screwball comedygenre, which was forced to create sex
without sex. The article takes many examples from primary sources, mostly from films of the pre
Code and post Code era. He utilizes these films to exemplify the difference in the portrayal of
sexuality due to the Production Code. Secondary sources, including a book called Pre Code
Hollywoodby filmhistorian Thomas Doherty, are used to analyze pre Code films, which did not
follow political or moral patterns of the time. The article describes the relationship between
censorship and screwball comedies as a causal one. Pre code films would brazenly use female
sexuality to make more money through straightforward sex appeal, using

West Coast Trail Narrative Essay
10 members of 3 CDSG Signal Squadron have recently returned from completing the West Coast
Trail, on Vancouver Island, BC as part of the Squadron Adventure Training which ran from 29
April to 09 May 2017. Arriving in Victoria from Dets scattered from Shilo, MB to Chilliwack,
BC, the team had one day to gather last minute supplies, and distribute shared items to spread the
weight. After deploying to the northern trail head at Gordon River, we spent the night at a local
campsite so that step off could be as early as possible. This started wonderfully until we got a
small scare when someone thought that there was a bear in camp in the middle of the night,
waking us all up with their scream. The first day started out with a sunny morning... Show more

Due to the rain slowing our progress to barely 1km in an hour at times, the command team
determined that we would use our scheduled rest day at the end of the hike to give us an extra day
on the trail instead. This allowed us to complete the most difficult section of the trail in a safe
manner. It s a good thing we were a group of prepared Signalers, out came the satellite phone and
calls were made. The final days, with stops at Camper Bay and Thrasher Cove, provided the highest
concentration of ladders on the trail, as well as the last 3 cable cars. Our stay at Camper Bay gave
us our first encounter with any type of large and possibly dangerous wildlife in the form of a lone
black bear. No issues were had as it grazed on plants and checked us out from across the creek. The
Warrant kept an eye on his bear spray as we all took photos and selfies from a safe distance, before
it was bored of us and headed back into the woods. The final day we awoke early to ensure we
would make the last ferry at 1530. After a short climb out of the campsite, we took a break for
breakfast and a few photos to mark the last leg. Then we were off on the final kilometers of the
trip with the goal to have everyone finished and off the trail by lunchtime. After a few more
ladders and passing a derelict Donkey engine, a large steam powered machine that was used for
logging, we got to the top of the final and steepest ladder on the trail. This took us down to the
beach where we signaled and

Showing Flexibility
Showing flexibility is understanding what changing conditions mean in the organization. As a
member s skills, we will roll with the punches; and will adapt to ever changing situations. Will
not complaint or get disturb for something new being tried or some new approach taken. All
considerations of different points of views and compromise will be looked at when needed. We
will not hold rigid to a point of view and argue it to death, especially when the needs to move
forward to make a decision or get something done. Will stand firm in our thoughts yet open to what
others have to offer flexibility is the name. Will constantly show commitment to the members and
the organization. We will care about our work, the members, and the member s work.

Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers the Rights of Others
Civil marriage is enjoyed by all people in society; all people that is, excluding the ones that find
love in the form of their own gender. These people are being denied the basic right of engaging in
legally bound matrimony. Laws, such as this one, have been created time and time again, mostly
by ignorant bigots, only to be dissolved when finally seen as immoral and unjust in the eyes of
someone without hatred in their heart. It should be considered a crime in itself to deny access to an
institution that has no one true concrete definition; but instead much diversity, which America has
depended on and built from for over a 1000 years. There are at least ... Show more content on

sanctify freedom from religion as well? People wanting to engage in same sex marriage are not
asking for all religions to accept their vows. They ask merely for tolerance and the ability to recite
them so that they mean something, legally. They ask for simple civil equality in the pursuit of
happiness (Jefferson 200) among themselves, the United States citizens.
A dispute that frequently appears in court over same sex marriage is the question of what marriage
is in it s self. Marriages exist in many forms that cannot fit into a universal mold. There are
relationships consisting of one man and numerous women called polygamy. Relationships with
one woman and many men called polyandry (Halsall 1). Some are age dissonant with a full grown

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Market Economy
Market Economy is a Poor Choice for Developing Country to Stay Competitive
Introduction
Market economy is an economy system the individuals are owned and controlled most of the
resources and are allocated through voluntary market transactions governed by the interaction of
supply and demand. The presence of market economy will make a gap or disparity in society. It is
happened because people are free to play in the market. In addition, there is no interference from
the government and it will lead to the exploitation. It has lead to the market economy become not
an option for a country to stay competitive. Competition in the marketplace provides the best
possible product to the customer at the best price. When a new product is invented, it usually
starts out at a high price, once it is in the market for a period of time, and other companies begin
to copy it, the price goes down as new, similar products emerge.... Show more content on

Besides that, there are always problems with market economy system. There are some
disadvantages such as the exploitation of workers and uncomfortable working condition,
investment priorities and wealth becomes distorted, goods cost will be lower due to the mass
produced, prices may give false or inadequate signals to producers and consumers, high levels of
unemployment due to the overproduction of goods, and produce a skewed distribution of income
through large gap between the rich and the poor. Free competition is the spirit of market economy
system, naturally led the group with income and wealth in order to compete with any particular
group. The market economy instead of making competitive but it leads to monopoly. In this paper,

Kant And Kant s Philosophy
A transcendental principle is one by which we think the universal a priori condition which alone
things can become objects of our cognition in general[.]
Immanuel Kant, p 20 of Critique of Judgment This quote most aptly describes Kant s purpose in
writing a critique of aesthetic judgment, with the most important term being transcendental. The
Oxford Dictionary defines the word as presupposed in and necessary to experience (what Kant
refers to as a priori). In this sense, it is something that pertains to elements of human experience and
then in turn conditions human knowledge. Basically (and specific to this essay and to Kant s
theory), what needs to be present for a judgment of aesthetics to occur? Kant divides the Analytic of
Aesthetic Judgment into four moments according to the four divisions of the table of logical
functions of judging: quality, quantity, relation and modality. In doing research for this essay, I
found that Kant was interested in analytical investigations into many subjects and did so in an
almost scientific fashion, so this sort of division makes sense. Each moment is serial, and the
questions raised in one moment are then addressed in the following moment. I have used the logical
functions of judging to help me find the moments that judgment takes into consideration when it
reflects (Kant, pg. 43). Based on this context, these moments are not temporal moments, but more
realms of thought or consideration. How are the conceptual

Power And Control Within The Novel Wild Geese
In Martha Ostenso s Wild Geese, there are many issues surrounding power and control throughout
the novel. Many of these issues are because of the main character Caleb, and the control he holds
over many other characters. There are three main issues associated with power and control in the
novel: The powerCaleb holds creates fearand hatred for him from other characters in the novel. The
power he holds also causes his children to dream about things in another life and become rebellious
against Caleb s wishes. Finally, Caleb s control and power ruins him as a character and he suffers
from nemeses. These issues surrounding power and control are important to characterization, plot
development, and the relationships and conflicts between characters.
The first issue related to power and control in Wild Geese is the fear and hatred many characters
have for Caleb because of his need to have authority throughout the novel. An example of fear for
Caleb is the fear Amelia has for her husband. Amelia is scared of Caleb and what he will do to
her if she challenges his power over her. Amelia was justified in fearing Caleb if he held any
damaging knowledge about her (117). This shows that Caleb has control over Amelia, and the
characters in the novel know that he will not hesitate to ruin someone s life if he feels he needs to,
no matter what the relationship is he has with them. Amelia is also the one that has the power over
the children. Throughout Wild Geese she is the one that

El Rio Canal Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment is to collect water samples from El Rio Canal. Data such as
dissolved oxygen (DO), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and Biochemical Oxygen Demand
(BOD) will be found. From the results of each group, Streeter Phelps Dissolved Oxygen sag curve
will be constructed. Then, the Streeter Phelps sag curve will be analyzed and the group will
increase an understanding of the limitations and assumptions using this curve. The amount of
biodegradable organic matter and non biodegradable matter found in the water samples will be
compared. Ultimate BOD will be estimated by using the first order method or the гЂ–BODгЂ—_t

El Rio Canal flows south from Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach to Glades Road in Boca Raton.
This canal offers fishable waters, and therefore the dissolved oxygen in this canal must be at least

Dissolved oxygen varies depending on the temperature in the water, salinity, oxygen depletion,
oxygen source and other parameters (Stoddart 2014). Biochemical Oxygen Demand BOD can
be defined as the amount of dissolved oxygen that microbes utilize to decompose organic matter
in the water (Academic 2015). Results from BOD can be usually found after 5 days. However,
some times in order to get a complete biochemical Oxygen, BOD must be measured for 20 to 25

The Plight Of The Immigrant Farmer Worker Essay
Bernard Lange Professor Byrne Composition I, English 1510 November 20, 2016 The Plight of
the Immigrant Farm Worker Have you ever wondered how really bad it is to be an immigrant
farm worker? The article In the Strawberry Fields by Eric Scholsser, he looks at the hardships
that face immigrant farmers. Though there are laws to try and help the immigrants Schlosser
observed The temptation to break the law can be great. The punishments for doing so are rarely
applied (86). From sharecropping and low wages to deplorable living conditions the farmers
take advantage of immigrant workers at nearly every turn. Enforcing the laws will help improve
immigrant farmers working and living conditions. Sharecropping is one way the famers take
advantage of the immigrants, sharecropping is the most insidious means by which growers
avoid responsibility for their workers (Schlosser 86). The farmer would lease a portion of their
land to the sharecropper. By doing so the immigrant sharecropper would then be responsible for
just about every aspect of the farm operation. In effect he would become a pseudo farmer, but in
the end would really hold no power or land. Sharecroppers lease the land from the farmer. The
farmers will lend the money to run the farm to the sharecropper at a very high interest rate.
Schlosser notes, under the old arraignment, if things went wrong, sharecroppers simply would not
be paid for their work; under the new one, they are being saddled with thousands

Basaltic Vs Rhyolitic Essay
Explain the differences between Basaltic, Rhyolitic and Andesitic volcanic eruptions with reference
to processes, which lead to the eruptions, the type of volcano produced and the reasons for the
differences between the material erupted by these volcanoes.
Volcanic eruptions are caused by a red hot liquid rock, called magma inside the earth s core.
Volcanoes erupt when magma rises to the surface of the earth, which causes bubbles of gas to
appear in it. This gas can cause pressure to build up in the mountain, and it eventually explodes.
When the magma bursts out of the earth, it is called lava. The type of magma in the earth can create
different volcanoes. If the magma is quite thin, the gas can escape easily and there will not be an ...

Continents that sometimes divergent currents occur beneath continents in which the continent
breaks apart, producing a rift valley e.g. the Great African Rift Valley in East Africa. In a rift
valley you find lakes and volcanic activity e.g. Mount Kilimanjaro. In time the rift valley will
develop into an ocean of its own.
Lastly, there are Destructive Plate Margins and conservative plate margins. Destructive Plate
Margins are the places where the Earth s crust is being destroyed at the same rate as they are being
formed at the constructive plate margins. Oceanic Convergence is where oceanic and continental
plates meet. As oceanic plates are denser they go down toward the Mantel; this is subduction.
Sediments that have accumulated at the bottom of the ocean form land mass as they rise as they
melt due to the magma, through the continental crust and then re appear as the continent. Also,
there is oceanic convergence. This is where two oceanic plates meet; one is forced under the other.
Oceanic trenches are formed and island arcs; (Hawaii). Lastly, there are continental convergence
where two continent plates meet and sediment is forced up to form mountains. And, Conservative
Margins are where two plates slide over each other and there is neither creation nor destruction
takes place. There is no subduction or volcanic activity. However, the plates move

Land Title System In Canada
The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is
located in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which
province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land
ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of
Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the
territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the
entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the
steps to be taken in real estatesales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles
system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the
registry system, a transfer of ownershipmust be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the
transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from
interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be
taken.
There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property
in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used
for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the
land and that

Analysis Of The Scholarly Article Offshore Aquifers By...
In the scholarly article Offshore Aquifers by Renee Martin Nagle, she discusses the discovery of
fresh water sources being found in the ocean. Nagle talks about the water shortage not only are
an issue for California, but also the entire world. She talks about how there are two different
types of aquifers, recharging and non recharging aquifers. Recharging aquifers are aquifers are
linked with the surface and receive its water reserves from rainwater, streams, rivers, and runoff.
They are commonly found close to the surface. They are more susceptible to over use and
pollution. Non recharging aquifers are usually found deep beneath the surface, and porous rocks,
buried beneath a solid layer of sedimentary limestone or dolomite rock. The water found in the
non recharging aquifers arrives there because it gets trapped there when tectonic plates shift, and
sea levels where much lower 20,000 years ago when the Siberian land bridge allowed humans to
travel from Asia to the Americas. Nagle also discussed both pro s and con s of extracting the water
from the ocean. It will not be an easy task because while the United States is fighting a water
shortage, attempting to mine the water from the ocean could cause huge irreversible damage to the
ecosystem of the ocean and pollution to the environment. If the drilling is not done very carefully,
the entire water supplycould be contaminated. Nagle discusses that the underwater drilling would
be comparable to drilling oil

1.3 Privacy Concerns
While police are utilizing body cameras, it is vital to ensure privacy and confidentiality for any
information or person videotaped. That is why it is necessary for police departments to have
detailed guidelines in place. Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier recently cautioned that the
video footage will capture a broad range of information including police communications,
passwords and interiors of private residences that would need to be redacted before releasing video
(Vega, 2015, par. 7). This will take a good deal of time and resources as millions of hours of video
recordings will need to be stored and analyzed (Vega, 2015). Also, body cams worn by police could

Only 3% of penile vaginal sex scenes and 9.5% of penile anal intercourse in heterosexual films
showed condom usage. In homosexual films, the researchers noted that 80% of penile anal sex

usage for penile oral contact (Grudzen, et al. 2009). These statistics suggest that condom usage
among male homosexuals is more socially acceptable because of the higher prevalence of HIV in
that community. The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA
compliance in the Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen,

Joseph Turner Poem
Joseph Mallard William Turner s oil painting done on canvas, Slavers Throwing Overboard the
Dead and the Dying: Typhoon Coming On (1840; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) is a beautiful
painting with a lot of movement and colors, it is a landscape painting of the sea during sunset.
This paining memorializes an incident 60 years earlier, in which the British Empire s slave
trade ship, the Zong, tossed overboard the sick and dying slaves.. Malnutrition and disease on
boad the Zong claimed the life of 70 white men and 60 African slaves before the commander,
Luke Collingwood ordered that 133 living slaves be cast overboard. Upon the Zong s return to
England, they fabricated a story justifying the murder of the slaves: it was necessary to kill them
due to an insufficient water supply. However, this was proven false and when the owner claimed
full value for the slaves, he were denied by the insurers. This example amongst many others of the
ill treatment of slaves due to selfishness and greed inspired the formation of the Anti Slave trade
movement four years later. Turner s painting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nanocrystalline Materials Lab Report
Photophysical Properties of Nanocrystalline Materials
Allison Bray, Harsha Rao, David Sanchez
Abstract:
Introduction: Nanoparticles are widely researched because of their size dependent properties that
progressively differ from their bulk formations. Nano, meaning these particles are measured to be
~100 nm or less, are structures where the majority of the atoms are located at the surface of the
particle. This gives nanoparticles a high surface area to volume ratio. In comparison to their bulk
counterparts, when materials are in the nano scale, the physical and chemical properties of these
different materials tend to stray from the norm. These changes allow nanoparticles to be effective in
several fields of science and engineering based research, for example, chemical catalysis. These size
dependent properties will be analyzed through three experiments: (1) absorption and fluorescence
emmission of CdSe nanocrystals, (2) Plasmon resonance of metal nanocrystals, and (3) Raman
scattering and surface enhanced Raman scattering.
Nanoparticle orbitals embody valence bands(bonding) and conduction bands(anti bonding), where
the space between these two bands is known as the Bohr Exciton Radius. Depending on the number
of molecules in the nanocrystal, this will determine the distance between the valence and
conduction bands. As the size of the nanocrystal decreases the band gap inherently increases. This
development is due to the process of when the nanocrystal decreases in size

The European Union ( Brexit ) And The Refugee Crisis
Two consistent trends have been reported within reputable sources regarding the topic of the
European Union are the upcoming E.U. referendum taking place in Britain (Brexit) and the refugee
crisis. The European Union is faced with its impending decline, which has accelerated in recent
weeks with concerns about the British referendum becoming an immediate issue on the continent.
A possible Brexit could possibly lead to the fifth largest economy in the world and the second
largest economy in the Eurozone from leaving the European Union(E.U). The Brexit is the most
contested issue both within the United Kingdom(U.K) and the European continent. In the wake of a
rampant security and refugee crises in Europe, Europe s need to have an economically strong
member of the E.U is needed to combat the difficulties the continent is facing, particularly the
Mediterranean members of the E.U who are most heavily affected by the influx of people escaping
Syria and Turkey, taking refuge in recovering countries such as Greece, in hope of further
immigrating to their country of choice, namely Germany and Austria.
With tensions in the Middle East escalating, the refugee crisis in Europe is worsening, the
increasing number of people is led the E.U to consider isolating Greece from the rest of the

more regulated and observed. With the Internet, the government, whether it be local or national, is
slowly progressing towards an Orwellian future. It is extremely difficult to situate borders for
privacy, and that brings multiple questions to the table. Is it moral to allow people like white
supremacists an unchecked platform to offer their ideas? Is it okay for the government to censor
content it deems immoral? Will observing and profiling people actually help counter any threat of
terrorism? In order for such significant issues to be dealt with, we the people must learn to adapt....

Some argue that globalization will, on the long term, bring all cultures as a unique Western, if not

came up . (Zuolaga,2001) Indeed, the NAFTA agreements made between major world powers, it is
expected that many will question the validity of these agreements on an equality scale for Mexico,
known as a weak country on many levels.
Alongside job losses and the increase of the dependence of Mexico on the United States, Mexico
has deeply been affected on a cultural aspect after the NAFTA was put in place. Indeed, Zuloaga
explains in her article that The internal imbalances caused the Mexican people to question their
independence and national identity . (Zuolaga,2001) By these words, the author once again shows
that cultural identity is well affected by economic integration measures, and thus, globalization.
Further on, she also mentions the asymmetry of power among NAFTA s member states, which is
undeniably palpable looking at the lack of affirmation Mexico is offered to deliver, here in the

What Is The Reconstruction Dbq
The Reconstruction Grace Barar January 14, 2016 Although the reconstruction did unify the United
States and passed the 14th and 15th amendments, reconstruction failed on many other vital issues.
The radical republican legislation that promised freedom and equality for all was far from a reality
for black Americans. Legislation failed to protect former slaves from white supremacy, and
persecution. The entire social and cultural backbone of the south needed reform in order for African
Americans to enjoy the freedom and equality that this nation promised, unfortunately this change
did not come during the reconstruction. In 1877 president Hayes removed federal troops from the
south, almost immediately former confederates and slave owners returned

Deception In Twelfth Night
In the play twelfth night by william Shakespeare the three themes disguise, love, and deception
play major roles. It is the deceptive appearances and deceptive language that allow the characters
in the play to make their way, obtain that which they desire, and play humorous pranks on people.
The mistaken identities cause great confusion within the characters and impel them to behave in
ways they would not under usual circumstances. q q q q q q q q q q q q We find our first display of

Earthquake Experience Essay
My experience with massive earthquake.
3 years ago, I had experience of massive and repeated aftershock and tremor. It was Saturday in the
morning, it was official holiday of our nation. I and my family were living at the heart of
Kathmandu, a city full of historical monuments. It was unforgettable days for me. It was black day
of the nation. It was worst natural catastrophes that I ever encounter. The lesson that earthquake
gave me was to live life satisfyingly and prepare for what s coming.
During the period of incident, I was living in down floor apartment of four stored building with my
mother and sister. The house was recently built. The surrounding houses were old which were
built in primitive way. In Saturday, it was good sunny day and holiday we were having launch
with my mother and sister. My father was living in abroad. We all had plan for the holiday, I was
planning to meet my friend, my sister was having her board exam and shoe was more into study.
But before we move out of home, disastrous earthquake occurred.
At 10:56 am, we all family were together having launch. Suddenly, the earth shook and all the
utensil started moving and the wall swayed violently. The intense shake causes lose my balance
and my mother shouted to me and my sister to hide with her inside the table. Seconds later, I heard
could hear the sound of the ground, the house falling down, the screaming of people. Even after
minutes it earthquake started swaying and shaking like it has been intensely intoxicated. There was
no way to get out of house, as gate used to be locked as usual during turbulence.
After the earthquake, we moved outside the ground, many aged houses had turned into dust and
rubble hovering around the whole city. People alive inside the destroyed building were crying
for help and assistance. Seeing all the body covered with stone and brick made me cry as if I
was having a worst nightmare. The adrenaline rush began when I saw the people whom I used to
talk were buried inside the bricks and all I could see was their hands, legs. It was impossible to get
the body out from the ripped foundation.
When I took a glance at the surrounding, people were scrambled like a colony of ants, looking for

The President s party does not have a majority of the seats in both chambers of parliament. The

which was a landslide win for the PSOE. During previous years, it was always the Popular Party,
the conservatives, who would beat the PSOE, the liberals, in presidential and National Assembly

victors reflected the opposition the population felt against the Iraq war which the PP and its leader

Trunk Flexion
We found that the muscle strength of trunk flexion showed significant differences within group and
between groups. The results of the trunk back extension showed significant differences within
group. Our result of increased trunk strength was similar to previous study results. Within group
difference of muscleactivation was higher in the BLSE group than in the HLSE group. This
implies that the EO and RA were activated as the agonist of trunk flexion, and that muscle
hypertrophy can increase strength of trunk flexion when activated by the EO and RA. One
study showed EO activated approximately 32% of MVIC by bracing and 12% of MVIC by
hollowing (Grenier McGill, 2007). The % EMG max values in RA was 18% in the bracing
strategy, while the RA value was approximately 6% in the hollowing strategy(Maeo et al., 2013).
Thus, we suggest that trunk flexion strength would be increased by muscle hypertrophy if the
bracing strategy is applied in side plank exercise and prone plank exercises, which activate EO and
RA, for 12 weeks.
In trunk back extension, the % EMG max value of ES was 20% in bracing group and 10% in

`` Comfort Me With Apples `` By Tracy Daugherty
If you ever die in Houston (Rough Draft)
In the short story Comfort me with Apples by Tracy Daugherty the theme of death transpires
throughout the story. Daugherty developed a constant theme of sorrow and unfortunateness
through the characters, places and events, which all were ultimately affected by death. Although,
countless readers of Comfort me with Apples would suggest that the story is centralized by another
theme, many would agree that the theme of death in the story showcases how different characters
cope with death and the effects it has on the human condition, by examining how George coped
with the death of his wife, how death affected the Zamora family and how the bayou represented
death in every aspect when portrayed.
Undoubtedly with many untimely deaths, such as automobile accidents, survivors are often left
with survivors guilt and have to find ways to coupe death, as George did in the story. The tragic
accident that killed George s wife and her parents left him in disarray, but he persevered by
holding on to the memories of his wife, helping others and by staying busy throughout story.
George did not feel sorry for his self or succumb to moping around and lying in bed all day, as
many do when coping with death. For instance, George spends his days helping and interviewing
the Zamora and Thout families, he brings them food, offers advice and ultimately shows
compassion for both families. Additionally, he keeps close relationships with his friends

the attitude of humans with distinct differences, but are one people who work together embracing
our complexities. Through elegant descriptions Naomi shares her firsthand experience with us
and what it is like to be on a goat farm in China. She displays her surroundings to provide her
experience. The poem begins with her description of the icy climate suggesting that life is full of
hardship for the goats. This cold air is harmful to the goats, and they warm bodies pressing, must
work together for survival. The warmness of the goats exemplifies human characteristics of trust,
nurturing, and comfort. If one goat chose to stay on its own it would surely die. The harsh climate...

Naomi continues to develop her poem by talking about a water tank. The tank develops the idea
that she is on a farm. This farm is a dangerous place for them because there is no shelter from the
icy winds that torment these goats. She continues clarifying the actions of the goats saying, little
ones toward bulkier ones. This shows us again that the goats need each other for the survival of
their herd. She hopes that the goats will find the brush , another type of home for the goats, yet
brush is different for the goats because it is covered, and protects them from the ice. The brush
resembles the human characteristics of safety, shelter, and comfort. Another frigid night swooping
down, reestablishes the harsh reality of the suffering of the goats. Naomi

Jane Addams is recognized as a social and political pioneer for women in America. In her
biography, which later revealed her experiences in Hull House, she demonstrates her altruistic
personality, which nurtured the poor and pushed for social reforms. Although many of Addams
ideas were considered radical for her time, she provided women with a socially acceptable way to
participate in both political and social change. She defied the prototypical middle class women by
integrating the line that separated private and political life. Within these walls of the settlement
house, Addams redefined the idea of ?separate spheres,? and with relentless determination, she ...

More and more women were becoming teachers during this period, and it was continuously
being associated as a female entity. Women were allowed to engage in certain social affairs.
Although this did not include fighting for the reduction of labor hours or the elimination of child
labor, it did encompass helping the poor, which was the immediate motive behind establishing
Hull House. Reaching out to women who needed a place to stay, or workers who could not
afford to live in the crowded and unsanitary apartments that usually stuffed several families in one
room, could find shelter in Addam?s creation. However, Addams worked extended beyond the
?private sphere? in too many areas to ignore. Her struggle led to many social and political
reforms; she took a very radical political stance for her time, breaking her association from the
standard middle class women.
Hull House was unique in the sense that it held a position in both the public and private spheres of
society. Within the private sphere, women in the Addam?s settlement house ran the household,
raised children, taught about the necessity of morals, and preached about religion. In addition, Hull
House members offered assistance to their community, which later encompassed the realm of the
private sphere. Such actions included teaching, daycare, art galleries, and libraries. ??Hull House in

Twentysomthings Research Paper
In today s time the age for which men and women are getting married and having children has risen
to extreme highs and the numbers are still climbing. This occurrence affects a certain group known
as the twentysomthings of today s culture.
There has been many changes over the years in our culture on the viewing of getting married and
starting a family. One example of this is rather than people getting married they are cohabiting with
each other rather than committing themselves to marriage. One of the main reasons for this fact is
that many twentysomthings see this as a end to their freedom and that things are going to start
getting serious. But there are still people getting married but it at later times in their life.
For the age that men and women get married now is 29 while women its 27. Waiting longer to get

Cellular backhaul: The robust bandwidth of 802.16 technology makes it an excellent choice for
backhaul for the commercial enterprises, such as those providing hotspots ,as well as for point to

Broadband to underserved and remote areas: WiMax is a natural choice for under served rural and
outlying areas with a low population density.
Broadband on demand: It can help to accelerate the deployment of Wi Fi hotspots especially in
those areas not served by cable, in areas where the local telephone company may have a long lead
time for providing a broadband service.
Best connected wireless service: WiMax has nomadic capabilities, which allow users to connect to
WISP even when they roam outside their home or business, or go to another city that also has a
WISP.

CHIP ADVANCES: The main obstacles to long distance wireless communications are limitations
on battery power and poor power efficiency. Regulation keeps the power levels low and the range
of Wi Fi signals short, to avoid the overcrowding of airwaves. But advances in DSP chips mean
that weak signals can be deciphered, lengthening the distance that is practical for transmission, as
well as improving distance and speed potential. Battery improvement is vital to make a WiMax cell

Chicago By Carl Sandburg Analysis
Chicago, written by Carl Sandburg is a rousing piece of writing about the lives of people in
Chicago and about the city as a whole. Drawing from his working class roots, he built a raw
boned poetry that violated the poetic norms of the time he cast off inherited poetic diction and
form and adopted an exuberant free verse. The poem is a sordid love affair between a man and his
tumultuous citywith Sandburg declaring his affinity for the Chicagoand its people despite its
downfall, via his anaphoric stylization, juxtaposition, and anthropomorphisation of the city. To him,
it is not just a chimpanzee s playground, rife with crime, but also his home.
Within the second stanza, no anaphoric phrasing beyond they tell me appear, in hopes to ingrain the
negative connotation to which the outside world attributes to Chicago inside the reader. Each one
coupled with a phrase like, On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton
hunger (8), evoking a primordial distaste for the city in the reader, a bitterness as this city threatens
the livelihood of women and children. The phrases, disconnected from each other in terms of
outright sounds, kindling a feeling unlike that of the outside world, one of disappearing brilliance,
of melancholy, of a utter slumming. The city is in a tumultuous state, ununited, disconnected with
painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys (6) and killers roaming free in the streets
(7). However, immediately after Sandburg

of trade of the members have become the majority international trade. It is the maker, supervisor and

WTO was born out of the negotiations called the Uruguay Round and earlier negotiations under the

intergovernmental agreement about the rules of tariffs and trade signed on 30th October 1947.
However, it had been an interim agreement but not a formal international institution since it came
into force, which had hugely limited its processes of executions. Firstly, it lacked of legal binding
and powerful measures. Secondly, the interim agreement had some grey area, which cause the
agreement could not be implemented accurately. Finally, GATT discriminated different social

Mrs. May s bedroom window was low and faced on the east and the bull, silvered in the
moonlight, stood under it, his head raised as if he listened like some patient god come down to
woo her for a stir inside her room. The window was dark and the sound of her breathing too light to
be carried outside. Clouds crossing the room blackened him and in the dark he began to tear at the

Her murderer, some nigger s scrub bull (311), is here to stay. He is not a fleeting image at her
window side. Rather, he is patient , [appears] again in the same spot , and is twice described by
the modifier steady . In addition, the bull seems to transcend ideas of time and nature s cycles.
Although, in the first paragaph he only outlasts one cycle of the moon emerging and retracting, his
unwavering presence characterizes him as a survivor.
If the bull is a survivor, then Mrs. May is a victim. In contrast to the bull, she is vulnerable and
defenseless. Her window was low and her breathing was light . She is the recipient of the action, as
opposed to the giver. The bull watches her and presents his horns, the instrument of her forthcoming
death. Mrs. May, as with her death, has no choice in the matter. There is nothing she can do but be
watched and presented to.
The ideas of the dominator and dominated evident in the word choice of the paragraph hint at the
mechanics of Mrs. May s murder. When the bull takes her life in the story s final scene, she is
penetrated by the horns that were presented to her on the first night outside her window.
Repetition, although subtle, is evident in the paragraph. The word window is repeated three times,
and chewing is repeated twice. The repetition is not particularly noticeable upon first reading of this
paragraph because the words appear in different structural areas

The Principle Of Conducting Research
The principle of conducting research is sprouting and growing, which it has turned out to be a
important skill in today s modern world. A main importance of nursing is to deliver patients with
high quality and excellent service and care. It has concluded and established that lack of research
in clinical practice is merely a practice without validation. Researchis dynamic and a vital
component used in appraising the efficiency and efficacy of modalities in nursing treatments and
also to examining the outcome of nursing care on a patient s health. In a situation when challenges
and changes occur in nursing practices, thus research needs to be conducted in order to address
these needs or challenges.
Quantitative research is a recognized, official, objective, rigorous, systematic process for creating
statistical information and data about the nation. Quantitative research is conducted to define new
circumstances, procedures, impression or ideas; test the relationships among variables; and to
determine and conclude the effectiveness and efficacy of treatments in the whole world (Burns,
2011). Qualitative research is a systematic, subjective approach used to describe life experiences
and give them meaning. Qualitative research is not a new idea in the social or behavioral sciences
(Burns, 2011). Qualitative research consists of a detailed, thorough and complete description of
circumstances or events whereas quantitative research is the approach in attempts to describe these

which a young Honduran boy places his life at risk in order to reach the United States and be with

Belky and the mother. Enrique s mother, Lourdes, had to make the painful decision a mother
could make, she had to leave her son because of the poverty in Honduras. Her plan was that once
she was in America, she would send money for both her children, Enrique and his sister. Her son

In the Foreword, she brings the reader to a day in 1997, when her cleaning woman Carmen reveals
that she has four children in Guatemala, whom she has not seen in twelve years. Nazario is
stunned. She cannot understand how a mother could so walk away from her young children, but
Carmen then presents a reality the author will soon investigate and know to be ordinary. Since the
1960s, untold numbers of Central American mothers, often abandoned by their husbands, come to
America to take any work available (Nazario xiii). In the late 20th century, then, and as American
women were entering the workforce more and more, supply met demand and the illegal immigrant
mothers found work as house cleaners and nannies. As Carmen expresses, nonetheless, the distance
is almost unbearable and these mothers intensely feel the distance from their children. As the novel
also reinforces, the children similarly experience the pain of separation, which goes to another
form of immigration ; basically, and often at very young ages, they risk their lives to join their
mothers. Most importantly, then, and as Nazario is further moved by the true tale of Carmen s son
Minor, Enrique s Journey actually documents an ongoing situation based on inequality and
injustice. The novel is then completely based on the realities researched by the

For many years now, obesity has been an issue that has plagued our country with its effect on our
people. From the increasing difficulty to get good healthcare, to the monumental amount of
fattening snacks that have cultivated themselves into our diets. Throughout our media, we have
seen countless ways in which the human body can look good, bad, look better, or look worse.
Most of which would ignore or makeup, health claims just to come off as scientific. Along with
what s considered as desirable, that sought out notion has and will continue to change. Articles,
books, songs, movies, and magazines have left many Americans feeling pulled in multiple
directions on how to take care of their bodies as well as how they should look. Leading to body
issues, radical or hateful opinions, and possibly health problems. Many studies, book, papers,
and social experiments on obesity are developed to clear up some confusion towards eating and
weight gain, of which add their own informed opinions and facts to brighten our previous sphere
of knowledge on the subject. Some of which are proven biased or false based on opposing
opinions or facts but, for the most part, add to the conversation. So with this much information out
there and with many of them contradicting themselves, one may ask internally What is the right
thing to do for me? , or What should I believe? , and those are valid questions. Does one look at
what science says that day or go with what they feel is healthy? With these

Malala Yousafzai Influence
Not many people are born with a sense of righteousness. Chances are, your beliefs are influenced
by your surroundings and your life circumstances. This is the case for pretty much all activists.
Certainly, activists are influenced by problems around them. Take Malala Yousafzai, Craig and
Marc, and Emily Anne Rigal for example. Malala is a Global Advocate for Girls Education
(malala.org), Craig and Marc are on a mission to free children and their families from poverty and
exploitation. (we.org), and Emily Anne Rigal strives to end bullying. These young activists have
seen or experienced things that drove them to speak out for what they think is right.

It was more of the fact that she believes in education for all, and the environment that she grew
up in did not support female education. Malala loved going to school. The young girl could
have lived a fine life, if not for one thing: The lack of female rights in her home country,
Pakistan. The Taliban, a religious group, bombed schools and buildings. Now fast forward to
2009. A young Malala started writing a blog for the BBC Urdu service under the pen name Gul
Makai. She blogged about her fears of her school being attacked by the Taliban and increasing
military activity. Television and music were banned, and women could not go outside without a
male relative. Malala spoke out against this. She protested against Taliban policies and schools
being shut down. In 2011, she received Pakistan s first National Youth Peace Prize. What did the
Taliban think of this? A young girl in Pakistan speaking out against what she thought was
wrong? The extremist group did the one thing they saw fit. They voted to kill her. And try to kill
her they did. On 9 October 2012, as Malala and her friends were travelling home from school, a
masked gunman entered their school bus and asked for Malala by name. She was shot with a
single bullet which went through her head, neck and shoulder. (malala.org) She was rushed to a
hospital in Birmingham, United Kingdom. She survived. People thought it was a miracle. A teen
girl fighting for education was shot in the head and survived. This ignited new hope in the hearts
of many. Malala was finally released from the hospital a few months later. In 2014, Malala accepted
the Nobel Peace Prize, sharing the award with Kailash Satyarthi. Malala grew up in an
environment that looked down upon women. Schools were being bombed, and she was driven to
speak out about it: We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced. Malala

Program (Australia). (1996). Overview of the impacts of feral cats on Australian native fauna.
Canberra, ACT: Australian Nature Conservation Agency.
Content Summary
In this book the authors review impact of feral cats. Feral cats have major or minor impacts on
the Australian native wildlife some of which are competitive, amensal, and predatory. The
Competitive impact caused by cats is on large predatory species by loss of prey. Amensal impact
is most likely cause by transmission of diseases. And predatory impact on native wildlife has been
identified by historical evidence. Many conclusions can be made from this evidence. Mammals
make up a large part of a feral cats diet. They target mammals weighing up to 2kg, and birds up to
1kg. But they prefer prey weighing less then approximately 200grams in Mainland Australia. ...

marsupials since European explorers and settlers arrived. Most of these extinctions have been
linked to feral cats and other introduced species. Cats have developed there skills over millions of
years and they a fast and silent killers. The US Fish and Wildlife Service has revealed that feral

The Marketing Strategy Of Nike

These areas are very well polished in Nike. The owners know the correct trigger points of every

position in the market is such that consumers upon hearing the name of Nike are sure that they

To let the liver function properly it is important to detect cirrhosis in early stage. Now a days
several noninvasive imaging techniques have been developed recently for detection of liver
cirrhosis such as CT, USG, MRI. In this paper we have used CT scan images of liver cirrhosis and
applied some statistical operations on those CT images such as mean, median, standard deviation
and mode.
II. Methodology:CT scans are challenging because of the different image characteristics that must
be considered. Here we will be considering the statistical features of a CT scan of liver which is
having liver cirrhosis as a disease. The methodology followed is given below:
Fig.1 Flow Chart of Methodology Used
(1).Image Acquisition : To get an image of which you want to extract some features.
(2).Image Preprocessing : It is common practice to perform preprocessing on acquired CT scan
images before extracting the features of images. Here we have applied the statistical operation on
the preprocessed images After acquiring the image various preprocessing methods can be apply.
The aim of this step is to improve the quality of the image that suppress unwanted distortion and
enhance the image features which is important for further processing. Such as increase or decrease
brightness, shape, contrast, remove the noise from the image.

Essay on The Internet
When historians look back at the latter half of the twentieth century, they might well remember it
less as the time man walked on the moon and more as the time when the Internet was born. The
Advancement Research Projects Agency Network, known as the ARPANET, was developed in the
1960 s by the U.S. Department of Defense. This was the world s first operational informational
sharing network, and the predecessor of what we now call the Internet. Although the creation of the
Internet was primarily to allow the sharing of resources, its true popularity came in the ability to
send and receive mail. This communicationprocess, known as electronic mail or more commonly
referred to as e mail, has now evolved into the most used application on... Show more content on

This technology meant that the conversations that were previously being e mailed and took
seconds to send and receive, were now taking place in real time. Instant Messaging software is
simply a program placed on a computer that connects to an on line service, similar to a phone line
connecting to the operator. This software permits computers to relay conversations over the
Internet, which in turn means two or more people can talk or correspond simultaneously. Instant
Messaging eliminates any delay issues with direct communication; however e mail also evolved
into another forum through Weblogs.
First introduced in the mid to late 1990 s, Weblogs, also referred to as blogs, are Internet
webpages where entries are made similar to a journal or a diary. These personal views or
updates to a particular subject are presented in reverse sequential order. Blogs can cover an array
of topics including food, politics or local news, but most function as more personal online diaries.
A typical blog combines text, images and links to other blogs, web pages and other media related
to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual and include photographs, videos or audio. Without any
discretion on the choice of topic, the questions becomes why would anyone want to air their
personal problems or desires for everyone to see?
According to an article entitled The Blog Phenomenon, author John Dvorak points out a few
obvious suggestions as to why participants in

Yeats Poetry Analysis
The poetry of Yeats remains relevant because he examines both the local and universal through
heightened symbolism.
Discuss the accuracy of this view with detailed reference to AN IRISH AIRMAN FORESEES HIS
DEATH and other poems set for study.
Composers explore the local and universal to communicate their text s relevance to their world
using historical evidence and present day knowledge to inform responders about their struggles.
W.B Yeats examines the ideas of annunciation, the past and spiritualism within his world. Both
poems, An Irish Airman Foresees His Death and The Second
Coming, extrapolate, through heightened symbolism, the ideas of the past and the present and the
impact they have had on Ireland and Yeats. Throughout the poems Yeats references the spiritual
and historical issues existing within Yeats s world. As Louis Bogan (1938) states, We can trace in
Yeats, the continually enriched and undeviating course of an inspired man, suggests Yeats ontology
towards man and his existence.
Yeats s philosophies examine the historical and philosophical concepts and their effect on
immortality and the environment through his heightened use of analogies to convey his concerns
for his country and the wider world. Yeats s interest in our existence and purpose in life is
formed from the Greek philosopher, Plato. He believed in Plato s principle of immortality
whereby death is a separation from the soul of his body evident in his poem An Irish Airman
Foresees His Death.

Hurricane Research Papers
Several ships recorded hurricane force winds and pressures as low as 968 mbar (28.6 inHg),
though none entered the eye of the hurricane and sampled the lowest pressure in the storm. The
system produced winds of 54 mph (87 km/h) on Bermuda as it passed very close to that
island.[1] About this time, five ocean liners near each other encountered the storm; some
portholes on the Orca were damaged and 15 passengers were treated for cuts, bruises, and
contusions.[5] Off Nova Scotia, the cyclone produced an unspecified number of casualties,[6]
including the sinking of the schooners Sylvia Mosher and Sadie Knickle. Five people died and
one other person was injured after the Norwegian steamer Ringhord capsized near Scatarie Island.
One person also drowned after the Edith Newhall sunk. Many other boats and ships in and near
Nova Scotia capsized or ran aground, including 11 ships at New Harbour, 2 motorboats at Mosher s

The system also ranks as the third deadliest Canadian tropical cyclone of the 20th century, behind
only a hurricane in 1927 and the remnants of Hurricane Hazel in 1954.[7] After the storm,
Lunenburg Progress Enterprise publisher William Duff was one of few people calling for
schooners to be supplied with transmission and receiving radio equipment, while there were a
few requests for a rescue ship to be stationed at the fishing banks on standby should other ships
become distressed. However, little was done to improve mitigation prior to the hurricane in August
1927. In Nova Scotia, the families of the victims of the storm received monetary compensation via
the Workplace Safety Insurance Board. The agency became severely depleted of funds, leading the
board to announce a 5% increase in insurance rates for the fishing industry. Captains and vessel
owners responded by threatening to go on strike, forcing the board to reverse their

The Sabbath Of The Jewish Holidays
When people think of holidays they would think Christmas or Thanksgiving. But with the Jewish
religion they celebrate the holidays a little bit different than most people. With the Jewish cultural
they celebrate Shabbat, Passover, You Kippur, Sukkot, and Hanukkah.
The Shabbat is considered the most important of all Jewish holidays. It is the day of rest and
weekly observance of God s completion of creation. Shabbat starts on a Friday night an hour
before sunset, it lasts for 25 hours until sunset on Saturday night. This holiday is one of the way
the Jewish people connect with Yahweh because these people will make some of the tuitional
meal that comes with this holiday. Also, they will make the setting special because they are
celebrating their god and what to make it wonderful. In the book God in search of man there was a
quote that said Perhaps Sabbath is the idea that expresses what is most characteristic of Judaism.
What is the Sabbath? A reminder of every man s royalty; and abolition of the distinction of master
and slave, rich and poor, success and failure. To celebrate the Sabbath is to experience one s
ultimate independence of civilization and society, of achievement and anxiety. The Sabbath is an
embodiment of the belief that all men are equal and that equality of men means the nobility of men.
(pg.417) The author is showing that the men of the household it leading their family and that is
holiday can become a family tradition.

Historical Accuracy In The Film Ned Kelly, Directed By...
Ned Kelly (2003), directed by Gregor Jordan and starring Heath Ledger (Ned Kelly) and Orlando
Bloom, is the film interpretation of the legendary story of the Kelly gang. As this is a film, not a
documentary, it is only moderately historically accurate. The three key events in this story in which
Jordan has attempted to maintain the truth to a reasonable extent are the incident with Constable
Fitzpatrick, the shooting of Aaron Sherritt and the Glenrowan shootout. However, there is also
one major aspect of the film where Jordan has not endeavoured to uphold historical accuracy, and
that is Ned Kelly s love life. As the very purpose of a feature film is to entertain an audience, there

In actuality, the shootout takes place after the Kelly gang take 60 hostages at the Glenrowan hotel.
When the police arrive, the outlaws put on their famous steel armour, and start shooting at the

having injured Superintendent Hare, the commander of the police proceedings that night. The
other members of the gang withdraw to the hotel where they are shot dead by police. Ned returns
to Glenrowan at dawn and is quickly brought down, but not killed, with shots to his unprotected
legs. In the film, however, it is made to look as though the Kelly gang bring down many officers
in the fight for their cause and also that Dan and Steve kill themselves before the police can get to
them. This event is historically accurate to a reasonable

The Life Of The Beta
Going into TCU, if you would have told me that I would be so close to 46 other guys so soon I
would not have believed you. When I arrived on campus, I had no idea if I wanted to commit to
greek life. I was one that never really liked to party, and I thought that all houses were like the
ones you saw in movies. After a lot of contemplation, I told myself that I would just go to a few
events and see how they went. The first event I went to was for Beta, and from then on I knew I
wanted to be apart of that brotherhood. Whether it be the delicious burgers or late night talks, all
the events for Beta were unforgettable. As rush went on, I was nervous that I wasn t going to get a

Pledgeship may have been one of the hardest things I have done so far, while managing school.
But I am proud of myself and my brothers for pushing me to limits I didn t know I could do. I
am deserving of being initiated, because I have poured my heart into all of my brothers. There
is no one group of people that I would commit so much time to. Not only have I poured my heart
into my brothers, but I have committed endless hours to our pledgeship in trying to succeed, and
be the best man I can be. I have learned so much about each of my brothers, but even more about
myself. I have learned that I have to sacrifice more time for something I really want, even if that
means not going out. I have learned to push myself to succeed even more in academics, and so
much more. I know these 10 weeks is only a glimmer of what Beta will teach me these next years.
I would do anything for this group of guys. I have learned the true definition of brotherhood. Going
into pledgeship, I thought these guys would be just friends, but through the past 10 weeks, I have
realized I have made new brothers that I can always rely on. I can t wait to continue this bond. If
I am initiated, I know I will be able to contribute a lot to this fraternity. I love working with other

Multicultural Curriculum For A Multicultural Classroom
When I first started this class I was aware of multicultural curriculum but I was not aware of how
important it was in a classroom setting. As the weeks have gone by in this class, I have learned that
multicultural curriculum is important because it s a way for teachers to include all children from
diverse backgrounds. As we ve have progressed in the study of multicultural curriculum we have
learned to address important topics such as biases, social justice, stereotypes, the development of
identityand how to communicate with parents.
The purpose of this paper is to inform our readers of how a multicultural education benefits
children. How can teachers create a multicultural learning community, and how can teachers help

(Igoa p. 44). (Robert Cole p. 3).
There are many factors that can help a child achieve a better outcome in a school setting, as
teachers we should be able to identify each of our student s individual strengths, their pastimes and
how can we support their needs so that they can master their full potential.
Early childhood teachers play an important role in supporting and increasing nondiscriminatory
learning and appropriate developmental outcomes for all children. (Madeleine saffigna p.5). It is
important for educators to believe that all children deserve opportunities and materials to achieve
the highest potential of learning. Teacher s need to assist children to distinguish and to put to
practice these characteristics, it is important for teachers to instantly intercede when conflicting
messages of one s identity are expressed. Classrooms transform into a prominent place where
children can learn to be content with themselves and their families this helps them to notice the
differences amongst each other and to treat people respectfully and to speak up when they feel that
others are being biased.
It is essential for teachers to emulate on their own perception of the children they render services to
and the possible revelation of diversity. To have a successful multicultural classroom is important
for teachers to accept the lives of the families and their children.

  • 2. Differences Between Pre Code And Pre-Code Movies The magazine article describes the stark contrast in the portrayal of female sexuality between pre Code and post Code movies. Pre Code movies are flagrantly sexual; although some contemporary film critics believe that women were simply embracing their sexual freedom through these pre code films, the marketing for many of these brazenly sexual films often included derisive comments from males, suggesting that the intent of overt sexuality in films was more crude. Post code films often used screenwriting strategies to stay within bounds of the Code. Denby argues that this censorship actually created a net benefit for women, who were given stronger personalities and more interesting plot lines instead of simply being sexual objects. The article suggests that censorship led to the inception of the screwball comedygenre, which was forced to create sex without sex. The article takes many examples from primary sources, mostly from films of the pre Code and post Code era. He utilizes these films to exemplify the difference in the portrayal of sexuality due to the Production Code. Secondary sources, including a book called Pre Code Hollywoodby filmhistorian Thomas Doherty, are used to analyze pre Code films, which did not follow political or moral patterns of the time. The article describes the relationship between censorship and screwball comedies as a causal one. Pre code films would brazenly use female sexuality to make more money through straightforward sex appeal, using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. West Coast Trail Narrative Essay 10 members of 3 CDSG Signal Squadron have recently returned from completing the West Coast Trail, on Vancouver Island, BC as part of the Squadron Adventure Training which ran from 29 April to 09 May 2017. Arriving in Victoria from Dets scattered from Shilo, MB to Chilliwack, BC, the team had one day to gather last minute supplies, and distribute shared items to spread the weight. After deploying to the northern trail head at Gordon River, we spent the night at a local campsite so that step off could be as early as possible. This started wonderfully until we got a small scare when someone thought that there was a bear in camp in the middle of the night, waking us all up with their scream. The first day started out with a sunny morning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the rain slowing our progress to barely 1km in an hour at times, the command team determined that we would use our scheduled rest day at the end of the hike to give us an extra day on the trail instead. This allowed us to complete the most difficult section of the trail in a safe manner. It s a good thing we were a group of prepared Signalers, out came the satellite phone and calls were made. The final days, with stops at Camper Bay and Thrasher Cove, provided the highest concentration of ladders on the trail, as well as the last 3 cable cars. Our stay at Camper Bay gave us our first encounter with any type of large and possibly dangerous wildlife in the form of a lone black bear. No issues were had as it grazed on plants and checked us out from across the creek. The Warrant kept an eye on his bear spray as we all took photos and selfies from a safe distance, before it was bored of us and headed back into the woods. The final day we awoke early to ensure we would make the last ferry at 1530. After a short climb out of the campsite, we took a break for breakfast and a few photos to mark the last leg. Then we were off on the final kilometers of the trip with the goal to have everyone finished and off the trail by lunchtime. After a few more ladders and passing a derelict Donkey engine, a large steam powered machine that was used for logging, we got to the top of the final and steepest ladder on the trail. This took us down to the beach where we signaled and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers... Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers the Rights of Others Civil marriage is enjoyed by all people in society; all people that is, excluding the ones that find love in the form of their own gender. These people are being denied the basic right of engaging in legally bound matrimony. Laws, such as this one, have been created time and time again, mostly by ignorant bigots, only to be dissolved when finally seen as immoral and unjust in the eyes of someone without hatred in their heart. It should be considered a crime in itself to deny access to an institution that has no one true concrete definition; but instead much diversity, which America has depended on and built from for over a 1000 years. There are at least ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And while this is the most applied law, it stands still unclear. The bible calls homosexuality an abolishment , but also says, Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve #8230;nothing is unclean in itself; but unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean (Romans 14:13 13). Also, when Americans were told that they would have freedom of religion, does not that sanctify freedom from religion as well? People wanting to engage in same sex marriage are not asking for all religions to accept their vows. They ask merely for tolerance and the ability to recite them so that they mean something, legally. They ask for simple civil equality in the pursuit of happiness (Jefferson 200) among themselves, the United States citizens. A dispute that frequently appears in court over same sex marriage is the question of what marriage is in it s self. Marriages exist in many forms that cannot fit into a universal mold. There are relationships consisting of one man and numerous women called polygamy. Relationships with one woman and many men called polyandry (Halsall 1). Advantages And Disadvantages Of Market Economy Market Economy is a Poor Choice for Developing Country to Stay Competitive Introduction Market economy is an economy system the individuals are owned and controlled most of the resources and are allocated through voluntary market transactions governed by the interaction of supply and demand. The presence of market economy will make a gap or disparity in society. It is happened because people are free to play in the market. In addition, there is no interference from the government and it will lead to the exploitation. It has lead to the market economy become not an option for a country to stay competitive. Competition in the marketplace provides the best possible product to the customer at the best price. • 7. Kant And Kant s Philosophy A transcendental principle is one by which we think the universal a priori condition which alone things can become objects of our cognition in general[.] Immanuel Kant, p 20 of Critique of Judgment This quote most aptly describes Kant s purpose in writing a critique of aesthetic judgment, with the most important term being transcendental. The Oxford Dictionary defines the word as presupposed in and necessary to experience (what Kant refers to as a priori). In this sense, it is something that pertains to elements of human experience and then in turn conditions human knowledge. Basically (and specific to this essay and to Kant s theory), what needs to be present for a judgment of aesthetics to occur? Kant divides the Analytic of Aesthetic Judgment into four moments according to the four divisions of the table of logical functions of judging: quality, quantity, relation and modality. In doing research for this essay, I found that Kant was interested in analytical investigations into many subjects and did so in an almost scientific fashion, so this sort of division makes sense. Each moment is serial, and the questions raised in one moment are then addressed in the following moment. I have used the logical functions of judging to help me find the moments that judgment takes into consideration when it reflects (Kant, pg. 43). Based on this context, these moments are not temporal moments, but more realms of thought or consideration. How are the conceptual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Power And Control Within The Novel Wild Geese In Martha Ostenso s Wild Geese, there are many issues surrounding power and control throughout the novel. Many of these issues are because of the main character Caleb, and the control he holds over many other characters. There are three main issues associated with power and control in the novel: The powerCaleb holds creates fearand hatred for him from other characters in the novel. The power he holds also causes his children to dream about things in another life and become rebellious against Caleb s wishes. Finally, Caleb s control and power ruins him as a character and he suffers from nemeses. These issues surrounding power and control are important to characterization, plot development, and the relationships and conflicts between characters. The first issue related to power and control in Wild Geese is the fear and hatred many characters have for Caleb because of his need to have authority throughout the novel. An example of fear for Caleb is the fear Amelia has for her husband. Amelia is scared of Caleb and what he will do to her if she challenges his power over her. Amelia was justified in fearing Caleb if he held any damaging knowledge about her (117). This shows that Caleb has control over Amelia, and the characters in the novel know that he will not hesitate to ruin someone s life if he feels he needs to, no matter what the relationship is he has with them. Amelia is also the one that has the power over the children. Throughout Wild Geese she is the one that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. El Rio Canal Lab Report The purpose of this experiment is to collect water samples from El Rio Canal. Data such as dissolved oxygen (DO), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) will be found. From the results of each group, Streeter Phelps Dissolved Oxygen sag curve will be constructed. Then, the Streeter Phelps sag curve will be analyzed and the group will increase an understanding of the limitations and assumptions using this curve. The amount of biodegradable organic matter and non biodegradable matter found in the water samples will be compared. Ultimate BOD will be estimated by using the first order method or the гЂ–BODгЂ—_t vs.гЂ–BODгЂ—_(t+1) method. El Rio Canal flows south from Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach to Glades Road in Boca Raton. This canal offers fishable waters, and therefore the dissolved oxygen in this canal must be at least 4.0 mg/L. Results from BOD can be usually found after 5 days. However, some times in order to get a complete biochemical Oxygen, BOD must be measured for 20 to 25 days (Pisarevsky 2005). • 10. The Plight Of The Immigrant Farmer Worker Essay Bernard Lange Professor Byrne Composition I, English 1510 November 20, 2016 The Plight of the Immigrant Farm Worker Have you ever wondered how really bad it is to be an immigrant farm worker? The article In the Strawberry Fields by Eric Scholsser, he looks at the hardships that face immigrant farmers. Though there are laws to try and help the immigrants Schlosser observed The temptation to break the law can be great. The punishments for doing so are rarely applied (86). From sharecropping and low wages to deplorable living conditions the farmers take advantage of immigrant workers at nearly every turn. Enforcing the laws will help improve immigrant farmers working and living conditions. Sharecropping is one way the famers take advantage of the immigrants, sharecropping is the most insidious means by which growers avoid responsibility for their workers (Schlosser 86). The farmer would lease a portion of their land to the sharecropper. By doing so the immigrant sharecropper would then be responsible for just about every aspect of the farm operation. In effect he would become a pseudo farmer, but in the end would really hold no power or land. Sharecroppers lease the land from the farmer. The farmers will lend the money to run the farm to the sharecropper at a very high interest rate. Schlosser notes, under the old arraignment, if things went wrong, sharecroppers simply would not be paid for their work; under the new one, they are being saddled with thousands ... Basaltic Vs Rhyolitic Essay Explain the differences between Basaltic, Rhyolitic and Andesitic volcanic eruptions with reference to processes, which lead to the eruptions, the type of volcano produced and the reasons for the differences between the material erupted by these volcanoes. Volcanic eruptions are caused by a red hot liquid rock, called magma inside the earth s core. Volcanoes erupt when magma rises to the surface of the earth, which causes bubbles of gas to appear in it. This gas can cause pressure to build up in the mountain, and it eventually explodes. When the magma bursts out of the earth, it is called lava. The type of magma in the earth can create different volcanoes. Lastly, there are Destructive Plate Margins and conservative plate margins. Destructive Plate Margins are the places where the Earth s crust is being destroyed at the same rate as they are being formed at the constructive plate margins. Oceanic Convergence is where oceanic and continental plates meet. As oceanic plates are denser they go down toward the Mantel; this is subduction. Sediments that have accumulated at the bottom of the ocean form land mass as they rise as they melt due to the magma, through the continental crust and then re appear as the continent. Also, there is oceanic convergence. This is where two oceanic plates meet; one is forced under the other. Oceanic trenches are formed and island arcs; (Hawaii). • 12. Land Title System In Canada The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is located in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to be taken in real estatesales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the registry system, a transfer of ownershipmust be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be taken. There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the land and that ... • 13. Analysis Of The Scholarly Article Offshore Aquifers By... In the scholarly article Offshore Aquifers by Renee Martin Nagle, she discusses the discovery of fresh water sources being found in the ocean. Nagle talks about the water shortage not only are an issue for California, but also the entire world. She talks about how there are two different types of aquifers, recharging and non recharging aquifers. Recharging aquifers are aquifers are linked with the surface and receive its water reserves from rainwater, streams, rivers, and runoff. They are commonly found close to the surface. They are more susceptible to over use and pollution. Non recharging aquifers are usually found deep beneath the surface, and porous rocks, buried beneath a solid layer of sedimentary limestone or dolomite rock. The water found in the non recharging aquifers arrives there because it gets trapped there when tectonic plates shift, and sea levels where much lower 20,000 years ago when the Siberian land bridge allowed humans to travel from Asia to the Americas. Nagle also discussed both pro s and con s of extracting the water from the ocean. It will not be an easy task because while the United States is fighting a water shortage, attempting to mine the water from the ocean could cause huge irreversible damage to the ecosystem of the ocean and pollution to the environment. If the drilling is not done very carefully, the entire water supplycould be contaminated. Nagle discusses that the underwater drilling would be comparable to drilling oil ... That is why it is necessary for police departments to have detailed guidelines in place. Washington D.C. In homosexual films, the researchers noted that 80% of penile anal sex scenes showed condoms. In both homosexual and heterosexual movies, there was 0% of condom usage for penile oral contact (Grudzen, et al. 2009). These statistics suggest that condom usage among male homosexuals is more socially acceptable because of the higher prevalence of HIV in that community. The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA compliance in the Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen, et al., 2009). In 2004, there was a cluster of HIV infections in the Californian adult film industry. Joseph Turner Poem Joseph Mallard William Turner s oil painting done on canvas, Slavers Throwing Overboard the Dead and the Dying: Typhoon Coming On (1840; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) is a beautiful painting with a lot of movement and colors, it is a landscape painting of the sea during sunset. This paining memorializes an incident 60 years earlier, in which the British Empire s slave trade ship, the Zong, tossed overboard the sick and dying slaves.. Malnutrition and disease on boad the Zong claimed the life of 70 white men and 60 African slaves before the commander, Luke Collingwood ordered that 133 living slaves be cast overboard. Upon the Zong s return to England, they fabricated a story justifying the murder of the slaves: it was necessary to kill them due to an insufficient water supply. However, this was proven false and when the owner claimed full value for the slaves, he were denied by the insurers. • 19. Nanocrystalline Materials Lab Report Photophysical Properties of Nanocrystalline Materials Allison Bray, Harsha Rao, David Sanchez Abstract: Introduction: Nanoparticles are widely researched because of their size dependent properties that progressively differ from their bulk formations. Nano, meaning these particles are measured to be ~100 nm or less, are structures where the majority of the atoms are located at the surface of the particle. This gives nanoparticles a high surface area to volume ratio. In comparison to their bulk counterparts, when materials are in the nano scale, the physical and chemical properties of these different materials tend to stray from the norm. These changes allow nanoparticles to be effective in several fields of science and engineering based research, for example, chemical catalysis. These size dependent properties will be analyzed through three experiments: (1) absorption and fluorescence emmission of CdSe nanocrystals, (2) Plasmon resonance of metal nanocrystals, and (3) Raman scattering and surface enhanced Raman scattering. Nanoparticle orbitals embody valence bands(bonding) and conduction bands(anti bonding), where the space between these two bands is known as the Bohr Exciton Radius. Depending on the number of molecules in the nanocrystal, this will determine the distance between the valence and conduction bands. As the size of the nanocrystal decreases the band gap inherently increases. This development is due to the process of when the nanocrystal decreases in size ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The European Union ( Brexit ) And The Refugee Crisis Two consistent trends have been reported within reputable sources regarding the topic of the European Union are the upcoming E.U. referendum taking place in Britain (Brexit) and the refugee crisis. The European Union is faced with its impending decline, which has accelerated in recent weeks with concerns about the British referendum becoming an immediate issue on the continent. A possible Brexit could possibly lead to the fifth largest economy in the world and the second largest economy in the Eurozone from leaving the European Union(E.U). The Brexit is the most contested issue both within the United Kingdom(U.K) and the European continent. In the wake of a rampant security and refugee crises in Europe, Europe s need to have an economically strong member of the E.U is needed to combat the difficulties the continent is facing, particularly the Mediterranean members of the E.U who are most heavily affected by the influx of people escaping Syria and Turkey, taking refuge in recovering countries such as Greece, in hope of further immigrating to their country of choice, namely Germany and Austria. With tensions in the Middle East escalating, the refugee crisis in Europe is worsening, the increasing number of people is led the E.U to consider isolating Greece from the rest of the Schengen area (passport free travel area in Europe) by closing off its borders (Corder, 2016). With the Internet, the government, whether it be local or national, is slowly progressing towards an Orwellian future. It is extremely difficult to situate borders for privacy, and that brings multiple questions to the table. Is it moral to allow people like white supremacists an unchecked platform to offer their ideas? Is it okay for the government to censor content it deems immoral? The Cultural Impact Of NAFTA On Mexico Introduction Some argue that globalization will, on the long term, bring all cultures as a unique Western, if not Americanized, culture, while others argue that some cultures will persist in order to keep their own essence and therefore avoid the homogenization of all cultures. Alongside pure tradition, global conflicts, contradictory political regimes and the diversity of economic systems, some cultures are bound to face issues when trying to fully fit in a global western culture, and that is why cultures are adaptable to one another, but with some limits that we will express in this essay. Alongside job losses and the increase of the dependence of Mexico on the United States, Mexico has deeply been affected on a cultural aspect after the NAFTA was put in place. Indeed, Zuloaga explains in her article that The internal imbalances caused the Mexican people to question their independence and national identity . (Zuolaga,2001) By these words, the author once again shows that cultural identity is well affected by economic integration measures, and thus, globalization. • 27. Trunk Flexion We found that the muscle strength of trunk flexion showed significant differences within group and between groups. The results of the trunk back extension showed significant differences within group. Our result of increased trunk strength was similar to previous study results. Within group difference of muscleactivation was higher in the BLSE group than in the HLSE group. This implies that the EO and RA were activated as the agonist of trunk flexion, and that muscle hypertrophy can increase strength of trunk flexion when activated by the EO and RA. One study showed EO activated approximately 32% of MVIC by bracing and 12% of MVIC by hollowing (Grenier McGill, 2007). The % EMG max values in RA was 18% in the bracing strategy, while the RA value was approximately 6% in the hollowing strategy(Maeo et al., 2013). Thus, we suggest that trunk flexion strength would be increased by muscle hypertrophy if the bracing strategy is applied in side plank exercise and prone plank exercises, which activate EO and RA, for 12 weeks. Daugherty developed a constant theme of sorrow and unfortunateness through the characters, places and events, which all were ultimately affected by death. Although, countless readers of Comfort me with Apples would suggest that the story is centralized by another theme, many would agree that the theme of death in the story showcases how different characters cope with death and the effects it has on the human condition, by examining how George coped with the death of his wife, how death affected the Zamora family and how the bayou represented death in every aspect when portrayed. Undoubtedly with many untimely deaths, such as automobile accidents, survivors are often left with survivors guilt and have to find ways to coupe death, as George did in the story. The tragic accident that killed George s wife and her parents left him in disarray, but he persevered by holding on to the memories of his wife, helping others and by staying busy throughout story. Drawing from his working class roots, he built a raw boned poetry that violated the poetic norms of the time he cast off inherited poetic diction and form and adopted an exuberant free verse. The poem is a sordid love affair between a man and his tumultuous citywith Sandburg declaring his affinity for the Chicagoand its people despite its downfall, via his anaphoric stylization, juxtaposition, and anthropomorphisation of the city. To him, it is not just a chimpanzee s playground, rife with crime, but also his home. • 42. Mother Depicted In Enrique s Journey Introduction Sonia Nazario tells a personal story in her 2007 novel, Enrique s Journey, and one in which a young Honduran boy places his life at risk in order to reach the United States and be with his mother. The main characters are Enrique, his grandmother, his girlfriend Maria Isabel, his sister Belky and the mother. Enrique s mother, Lourdes, had to make the painful decision a mother could make, she had to leave her son because of the poverty in Honduras. Her plan was that once she was in America, she would send money for both her children, Enrique and his sister. Her son becomes resentful and turns to drugs, and then, at the age of seventeen, finally resolves to somehow make the journey and be with the mother who so inexplicably vanished.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Foreword, she brings the reader to a day in 1997, when her cleaning woman Carmen reveals that she has four children in Guatemala, whom she has not seen in twelve years. Nazario is stunned. She cannot understand how a mother could so walk away from her young children, but Carmen then presents a reality the author will soon investigate and know to be ordinary. Since the 1960s, untold numbers of Central American mothers, often abandoned by their husbands, come to America to take any work available (Nazario xiii). In the late 20th century, then, and as American women were entering the workforce more and more, supply met demand and the illegal immigrant mothers found work as house cleaners and nannies. As Carmen expresses, nonetheless, the distance is almost unbearable and these mothers intensely feel the distance from their children. As the novel also reinforces, the children similarly experience the pain of separation, which goes to another form of immigration ; basically, and often at very young ages, they risk their lives to join their mothers. Most importantly, then, and as Nazario is further moved by the true tale of Carmen s son Minor, Enrique s Journey actually documents an ongoing situation based on inequality and injustice. The novel is then completely based on the realities researched by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Argumentative Essay On Obesity For many years now, obesity has been an issue that has plagued our country with its effect on our people. From the increasing difficulty to get good healthcare, to the monumental amount of fattening snacks that have cultivated themselves into our diets. Throughout our media, we have seen countless ways in which the human body can look good, bad, look better, or look worse. Most of which would ignore or makeup, health claims just to come off as scientific. Along with what s considered as desirable, that sought out notion has and will continue to change. Articles, books, songs, movies, and magazines have left many Americans feeling pulled in multiple directions on how to take care of their bodies as well as how they should look. Leading to body issues, radical or hateful opinions, and possibly health problems. Many studies, book, papers, and social experiments on obesity are developed to clear up some confusion towards eating and weight gain, of which add their own informed opinions and facts to brighten our previous sphere of knowledge on the subject. Some of which are proven biased or false based on opposing opinions or facts but, for the most part, add to the conversation. So with this much information out there and with many of them contradicting themselves, one may ask internally What is the right thing to do for me? , or What should I believe? , and those are valid questions. Composers explore the local and universal to communicate their text s relevance to their world using historical evidence and present day knowledge to inform responders about their struggles. W.B Yeats examines the ideas of annunciation, the past and spiritualism within his world. Both poems, An Irish Airman Foresees His Death and The Second Coming, extrapolate, through heightened symbolism, the ideas of the past and the present and the impact they have had on Ireland and Yeats. Throughout the poems Yeats references the spiritual and historical issues existing within Yeats s world.
