MULTIFOCAL CONTACT
LENSES
By – Ayushi Patel

What is the basic difference between
multifocal spectacles and multifocal
contact lenses?
Multifocal spectacles are works on the
Accommodation and Convergence. So, distance PD is
wider and near PD is narrow.
Multifocal contact lenses are works on the
Accommodation and pupillary constriction.

• THE LENS DESIGN
• To provide users a smooth shift from single
vision lens, we have carefully thought of changing
the addition power and the optical design for
Type A and B, hence minimizing discomfort and
maximizing visual performance. We also adopted
the "Adjustable Parametric Design" found in
"SEED 1dayPure UP". By controlling the thickness
and curvature for each power, and thinning the
bevel design, users can experience greater
comfort while wearing it.
• Type A
• This design provides natural vision, just like single
vision lenses. (Additional power +0.75D
• Type B
• This design emphasises and defines the difference
between near and distant vision. (Additional power
+1.50D)
• As Good As Your Own Eyes
• Using our original
zwitterionic material SIB (SEED
Ionic Bond), and Alginic Acid as
a natural moisturising agent,
SEED 1dayPure Multistage
lenses retain more water to
keep your eyes moist and
comfortable for extended
hours!
• SEED 1dayPure moisture
Bifocal lenses are designed to
give you optimal vision
whatever your eyes are
focusing on.
HIGH CONTAMINATION RESISTANCE
Although zwitterionic material "SIB" is ionic and has high
water content, it has the advantage of keeping away the
proteins, which cause contamination.
HIGH MOISTURE RETENTION
In addition to its strong ability to attract and retain
moisture, the zwitterionic material SIB also has two
types of moisturising ingredients, alginic acid and
non-ionic surfactant. With the ability to retain
moisture, it is highly recommended for wearers who
experience dryness in their eyes during the evening.
CONTAINING UV ABSORBER
SEED 1dayPure Multistage contains UV absorber.
Contact lens with UV absorber significantly reduces
absorption of UV rays.
HIGH OXYGEN PERMEABILITY
Regardless of high water content, SEED 1dayPure Multistage
excels in morphological stability. Thus, the thickness of the lens
centre is 0.07mm (-3.00D), which is the thinnest class among
daily disposable high water content contact lenses.
Due to high water content and the thin lens design, the oxygen
transmissibility becomes 42.9. This value is high enough to
transmit adequate oxygen, which is sufficient for human eyes.
• ZWITTERIONIC
MATERIAL "SIB"
"SIB" stands for SEED Ionic
Bond, and ensure
biocompatibility. Every pair of
SEED PURE series contact lenses
is made from Original "SIB"
material. It contains both
positive and negative ions,
resulting in electrical stability.
This stability keeps on dust and
impurities, while ensuring high
water content

To help users distinguish between the inside and outside
faces, lens marking can be found on every lens to ensure
the easy handling and safe usage of lens.
Lens Marking
The lens has different diopters for near and
distance vision, which lets you enjoy seeing
well at both near and far with a single pair
of lenses. By controlling the thickness and
curvature for each power and thinning the
bevel design, users can experience
comfortable wear.
■ Natural Polymer "Alginic Acid"
Contact lens storage solution is infused with alginic acid which is
a natural moisturizing agent extracted from seaweed. It attracts
moisture in eyes, and keeps tears on the surface of the lenses.
■ Zwitterionic material "SIB"
SEED's original material "SIB" (SEED Ionic Bond) which contains
both positive and negative ions resulting in electrical stability.
This stability ensures high water content while keeping out dust
and impurities.
Containing UV Absorber
Ultraviolet rays (UV) causing skin pigmentation such as
spots, are said to be one of the causes of eye diseases
such as cataracts.
SEED’s 2weekPure Series contains an UV absorber that
shields your eyes from ultraviolet rays, protecting them
from harmful ultraviolet light and helps keep them
healthy.
*Contact lenses with an UV absorber do not block
100% of UV light and are not substitutes for UV
absorbing eyewear.
Containing both positive and negative ionic properties, the
zwitterionic material "SIB" has superior biocompatibility and repels
contamination while retaining materials. Because of the feature of
deposit resistance, comfortable wearability can last for two weeks.

Three Lens Designs for Three Different
Depth-of-Focus Ranges
To meet patient's extensive needs, three
lens designs for three different depth-of-
focus ranges are provided. Each lens
design features extended depth of focus
and provides the power distribution
needed to minimize perceived image
quality deterioration.
High Oxygen Permeability
The high moisture content and ultra-thin 0.07 mm*
center design smoothly transmits adequate oxygen to
your eyes.*(at -3.00D)

  • 19. • THE LENS DESIGN • To provide users a smooth shift from single vision lens, we have carefully thought of changing the addition power and the optical design for Type A and B, hence minimizing discomfort and maximizing visual performance. We also adopted the "Adjustable Parametric Design" found in "SEED 1dayPure UP". By controlling the thickness and curvature for each power, and thinning the bevel design, users can experience greater comfort while wearing it. • Type A • This design provides natural vision, just like single vision lenses. (Additional power +0.75D • Type B • This design emphasises and defines the difference between near and distant vision. (Additional power +1.50D)
  • 20. • As Good As Your Own Eyes • Using our original zwitterionic material SIB (SEED Ionic Bond), and Alginic Acid as a natural moisturising agent, SEED 1dayPure Multistage lenses retain more water to keep your eyes moist and comfortable for extended hours! • SEED 1dayPure moisture Bifocal lenses are designed to give you optimal vision whatever your eyes are focusing on.
  • 21. HIGH CONTAMINATION RESISTANCE Although zwitterionic material "SIB" is ionic and has high water content, it has the advantage of keeping away the proteins, which cause contamination.
  • 22. HIGH MOISTURE RETENTION In addition to its strong ability to attract and retain moisture, the zwitterionic material SIB also has two types of moisturising ingredients, alginic acid and non-ionic surfactant. With the ability to retain moisture, it is highly recommended for wearers who experience dryness in their eyes during the evening. CONTAINING UV ABSORBER SEED 1dayPure Multistage contains UV absorber. Contact lens with UV absorber significantly reduces absorption of UV rays.
  • 23. HIGH OXYGEN PERMEABILITY Regardless of high water content, SEED 1dayPure Multistage excels in morphological stability. Thus, the thickness of the lens centre is 0.07mm (-3.00D), which is the thinnest class among daily disposable high water content contact lenses. Due to high water content and the thin lens design, the oxygen transmissibility becomes 42.9. This value is high enough to transmit adequate oxygen, which is sufficient for human eyes.
  • 24. • ZWITTERIONIC MATERIAL "SIB" "SIB" stands for SEED Ionic Bond, and ensure biocompatibility. Every pair of SEED PURE series contact lenses is made from Original "SIB" material. It contains both positive and negative ions, resulting in electrical stability. This stability keeps on dust and impurities, while ensuring high water content

  • 32. The lens has different diopters for near and distance vision, which lets you enjoy seeing well at both near and far with a single pair of lenses. By controlling the thickness and curvature for each power and thinning the bevel design, users can experience comfortable wear.
  • 33. ■ Natural Polymer "Alginic Acid" Contact lens storage solution is infused with alginic acid which is a natural moisturizing agent extracted from seaweed. It attracts moisture in eyes, and keeps tears on the surface of the lenses. ■ Zwitterionic material "SIB" SEED's original material "SIB" (SEED Ionic Bond) which contains both positive and negative ions resulting in electrical stability. This stability ensures high water content while keeping out dust and impurities.
  • 34. Containing UV Absorber Ultraviolet rays (UV) causing skin pigmentation such as spots, are said to be one of the causes of eye diseases such as cataracts. SEED’s 2weekPure Series contains an UV absorber that shields your eyes from ultraviolet rays, protecting them from harmful ultraviolet light and helps keep them healthy. *Contact lenses with an UV absorber do not block 100% of UV light and are not substitutes for UV absorbing eyewear.
  • 35. Containing both positive and negative ionic properties, the zwitterionic material "SIB" has superior biocompatibility and repels contamination while retaining materials. Because of the feature of deposit resistance, comfortable wearability can last for two weeks. High Contamination Resistance
