- So, let’s take a pre-assessment.What is media?Give some examples of media.What is digital media?Give some examples of digital media.What is the difference between media and digital media.Media is Communication, including television, radio, and newspapers, that often reaches and impacts a large audience Digital Media is Electronic devices and media platforms such as computers, cell phones, digital video, social networking sites, the Internet, video games, and virtual worlds that allow users to create, communicate, and interact with one another or with the device or application itself The difference is digital media allows interaction between two people or things. Media is a one-way communication. Prior to the digital media used today, media was consumed through one way communications like the television and radios.

- In groups of 4, you will discuss the role of media in your life. We will use a concept map. You can use any shapes or creativity to display your concepts. You will need 4 – Types, Actions, My Feelings, and My Parent’s Feelings.We will start with Types of media. First, list all the types of media you use in a day (2 min). Now share your list of media with your group members (2 min). Next, let’s look at Actions. What types of actions do you complete with the various media? (2 min) Share with your group. (3 min)List the feelings you experience when using each of the media types. (3 min) Share with your group your feeling and why you felt that way. (4 min)For homework, ask your parents how they feel about their media usage and how they feel about your media usage.

A simile is similar to a metaphor, which is another literary device for making comparisons We are going to create a simile about digital media in our life. Here is an example, “My media life is like a track meet because I’m exhausted at the end of the day.”Below your simile, draw a picture that represents the simile you created.
