Essay On Pearl Harbor
Writing an essay on the topic of Pearl Harbor can be both challenging and intriguing. The
historical significance of the event demands a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances
leading up to the attack, the attack itself, and its aftermath. Researching and gathering accurate
information is crucial to present a well-informed and balanced perspective.
One of the challenges lies in sifting through vast amounts of historical data to select relevant and
reliable sources. The complexity of the geopolitical landscape during that time further adds to the
difficulty, as understanding the relationships between nations, alliances, and the motivations
behind the attack requires careful analysis.
Crafting a coherent narrative that captures the gravity of the situation while maintaining clarity
and engaging the reader can be another obstacle. It's important to strike a balance between
presenting facts and incorporating insightful analysis to provide a comprehensive view.
Moreover, addressing the emotional and human aspects of the event, such as the impact on
individuals and communities, adds depth to the essay but requires a delicate touch. Balancing
historical analysis with a humanistic perspective is essential to create a well-rounded and
impactful piece.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Pearl Harbor demands meticulous research, critical thinking,
and effective storytelling. It's a task that requires careful navigation through historical intricacies,
geopolitical complexities, and human emotions to create a compelling and informative narrative.

Binary Oppositions For From Heaven Essay
Hawthorne conveys his concept of the Outsider through a variety of techniques. As
the text aims to portray a highly religious and repressive community, Biblical
allusions enlarge and enlighten the message of the text. Hester breaks one of the ten
commandments, the punishment reminds the reader of the brand of Cain and Pearl
s name is drawn from the pearl of great price in the parable of the merchant. The text
draws on the responder s understanding of the Bible to convey its ideas about the
Outsider. The text also is a strongly symbolic one. The most obvious symbol in the
text is the scarlet letter. The scarlet A shifts in meaning throughout the text. It begins
as a symbol of shame but it eventually becomes a symbol of identity. Binary

The film was made in 2002 and uses the setting of 1957 to explore issues of social
taboos and the treatment of the outsider. The film reflects contemporary attitudes
to race and sexuality by representing the apparent attitudes of the past. In the United
States in 2002 educated Americans are sensitive to issues of race and the vast
majority subscribe to values of racial equality. This is in sharp contrast to the
setting of the text; in 1957 there is a clear division between the races and the civil
rights movements was yet to make real gains for African Americans. At the time
that the text was composed Americans were and still are, debating gay rights.
While many gains have been regarding the rights of homosexuals, they are still
significantly discriminated against by laws relating to marriage, property and
children, even in the more liberal states of the country. The film highlights the
injustice of this by juxtaposing the stories of racial and sexual discrimination.
Representing the life of an archetypal 1950s housewife shows how far society has
progressed regarding women since the time when the film was set. Cathy s role as a
house wife would be an anachronism in today s society. The filmmaker also reflects
his cultural context by his conscious evocation of the films of the
Sign Here If You Exist By Jill Sisson Quinn
Austrian British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein once said, The real question of
life after death isn t whether or not it exists, but even if it does what problem this
really solves. The idea that death is inevitable is well known by everyone, yet no
one is certain as to what happens afterwards. Even though the subject of life after
death has been argued for centuries by many philosophers and theologians. In the
article Sign Here If You Exist, Jill Sisson Quinn adequately employs figurative
language, rhetoricquestionings, and personal anecdotes to demonstrate a
controversial argument on the topic of life after death. In her article, Quinn uses
multiple figurative languages to strengthen her claim that life after death does not
exist. This is a very opinionated piece therefore using figurative language such as
metaphors, simile, diction and symbols help enhance the validity of the author s
argument, while effectively giving her opinion to the readers in a subdued manner.
Quinn s use of the Ichneumon wasp as a symbol for the process of human life is a
subtle way of writing it. Her article starts off with a detailed description of the
physical features of a Female Giant Ichneumon Wasp, which then proceeds to a
biology based background explanation on the specie. During her descriptions, Quinn
uses carefully chosen words that is meant to let the reader go beyond imagining the
wasp and to think of it as something more. She explains Her overall appearance of

your thermostat is working properly, then it should immediately start up without
Innovative Building Materials
ABSTRACT
Latest innovations have developed new materials and better technologies in the field
of construction. The need of the hour is the replacement of costly and scarce
conventional building materials by innovative, cost effective and environment
friendly alternate building materials. Here we see about the Insulating concrete forms
(ICF) Fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) Structural insulated panels (SIP)
By implementing these technologies gives birth to many sub level new engineering
concepts. These engineering conceptual methods now days become very important,
latest practically applied fields in innovative constructions. The major problem by the
conventional structures due to various aspects can be resolved by incorporating ...

Most forms have vertically oriented furring strips built into the forms on 6 , 8 , or 12
centres which are used to secure interior and exterior finishes.
Different ICF systems also vary in the shape of the resulting concrete within the wall:
Flat systems form an even thickness of concrete throughout the walls, like a
conventionally poured wall 3rd Generation ICF: most common Waffle Grid systems
create a waffle pattern where the concrete is thicker at some points than others 2nd
Generation ICF: somewhat lower structural strength fire resistance Post and Beam or
screen grid systems form discrete horizontal and vertical columns of concrete 1st
Generation ICF: least resistance to fires Benefits
Manufacturers commonly cite the following advantages compared to traditional
building materials, especially in residential and light commercial construction. It
needs to be said, however, that it is questionable what is meant by traditional
building materials ; this comparison apparently assumes different worst case
alternatives for each point. Minimal, if any, air leaks, which improves comfort and
less heat loss compared with walls without an air barrier Thermal resistance (R
value) typically above 3 KmВІ/W (in American customary units: R 17); this results in
saving energy compared with uninsulated masonry. High sound absorption, which
helps produce peace and quiet compared with framed walls
Indigenous People Religion
Indigenous people have many different aspects of their religion that is recognized
with all indigenous groups. Indigenous people worship a supreme being who they
believe created everything. The Supreme Being is often referred to as male with
such names as Great mysterious , Great spirit , all powerful or creator . Some
tribes refer to the Supreme Being as a woman, changing woman . Southern and
central Africans believe the high being is either too distant, too powerful or too
dangerous to worship or ask for help. The Supreme Being that is worshipped by
indigenous people is similar to God western monotheistic religions worship.
Indigenous people also worship unseen spirits that are believed to be at work in their
normal life. These spirits
Leonardo da Vinci Essay
Who would have thought that a rural boy would become one of the greatest minds
of history? This boy was born during the Italian Renaissance, a time of great rebirth
and renewed interest in cultural arts (Leonardo artist page 3). His name was
Leonardo da Vinci, and he was born in April 15, 1452 (Leonardo artist page 9).
Many would call Leonardo a jack of all trades; master of none, yet possibly he was
a master of all (Leonardo artist page 4). He had achieved many talents and countless
accomplishments (page 4). A genius at heart, Leonardo had many jobs and careers: a
painter, a sculptor, an inventor, an engineer, a writer, an architect, and... a scientist.

It was even rumored that Verrocchio, after seeing Leonardo draw a beautiful angel in
one of his works, gave up painting and simply used sculpting.
Leaving Florence, Leonardo arrived in Milan in 1482 (Leonardo world В¶ 7 8). He
became a court artist for Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, often designing many
mechanisms and even a sculpture of the Duke (В¶ 7 8). During Leonardo s stay in
Milan, he painted Madonna of the Rocks and the famous Last Supper (В¶ 7 8). In
1499, the French overthrew Milan, and Leonardo left the city to return to Florence
(Leonardo world В¶ 9 11).
After many years in Milan, Leonardo had become respected and famous after his
paintings in Milan, inspiring a generation of artists (В¶ 9 11). In Florence, a new
hall was being built for the city council, and the government hired Leonardo to paint
the walls with victories from the city (В¶ 9 11).
The Battle of Anghiari, painted by Leonardo da Vincion a wall in a hallway built for
the city council, is only generally known in Leonardo s sketches (Leonardo world
В¶ 12). During the creation of The Battle of Anghiari, Leonardo used a different
painting technique, causing the paint to run (В¶ 12). He never finished The Battle of
Anghiari, and it no longer exists (В¶ 12).
While painting The Battle of Anghiari, Leonardo started working on one of the most
famous paintings ever made, Mona Lisa (Leonardo world В¶ 12 and 31). Leonardo
probably used the wife of a Florentine silk merchant as his model of Mona Lisa (В¶

The Issue Of A Constitutional Convention
Danny Chasteen and Susan Rick thought that they had finally gotten their big break
when they won $250,000 from the Illinois lottery. But, because the Illinois budget
had not passed, they received nothing but a cold promise. No, the lottery situation is
not the most pressing problem facing our government, it is merely a trivial
outgrowth of a bigger problem: political gridlock in the state legislature. A large
majority of the citizens of Illinoisare exasperated with the government, and they have
the right to be, but a Constitutional Conventionis not going to fix any of our problems.
Every state has its own dilemmas, and these issues can be solved through the
everyday political process. A Constitutional Convention is simply not necessary, when
the Constitutionitself is not what is holding back the Illinois State government.
What could possibly be the purpose of a Constitutional Convention? Is it to change
provisions on the state budget, income tax, or even school funding? All of these
subjects can be focused on individually, and changed through the already present
amendment procedures. In fact most of the Constitution itself can be changed
through this existing political process. The Constitution is a living breathing
document that is meant to change as its environment changes, which is the specific
purpose of amendments. Each provision should be dealt with individually, so as to
bring more attention to that specific problem. For instance, school budgeting or
pension reform

Options allow investors to hedge against risk. If one expects stock prices to rise, then
he/she may like to invest in stocks. However, buying stocks also entails risk because
of price fluctuation. The risk will be potentially large in case price falls to zero. In
order to avoid risk one may like to buy a call option.
An American call option gives one the right, but not an obligation, to buy a specified

Daylight saving weekends are typically followed by large negative returns on

Presidential Campaign Of President Obama
Political campaigns can elevate a candidate s position, or a poorly run campaign can
doom that candidate s chances no matter how good the candidate is. At the end of the
day all that matters is winning. That is the goal of political campaigns in a nutshell.
There have been many tactics implemented when trying to run a campaign. Of the
tactics implemented there are those that are believed to work better than others. Of
those that work better than others are, mobilizing base voters by properly identifying
who they are, having a clear message and spreading that message to voters, debate
performances and fundraising efforts. In this paper the 2008presidential campaign of
current president Barack Obamawill be measured along with the 2004 presidential
campaign of John F. Kerry. In this paper both campaigns will be analyzed on what
tactics they used properly, where they were not as effective and what could have been
differently.
One of the most important factors when trying to run a successful political
campaign is properly identifying and mobilizing base voters. According to the
readings in the book Presidential Elections: Strategies and Structures of American
Politics, it gives reasons why people do and do not vote. One of the reasons people
do vote is because voting in some way or another makes the voter feel good.
However when a campaign properly identifies their base voters, they can pretty much
assume that those voters are going to go out and vote, but more importantly

In the western world the terms president, and prime minister means, for lack of a
better term, the head of a country, the difference is that between Canada and the
United States they have one or the other. Back in the Eastern world of Western
Europe, France was the first major European country to adopt a semi presidential
system giving them both a prime minister and a president to oversee it all (Allen et

strengthen economic ties and decision making among members of the Union by
coming up with a constitution for the EU and was approved by not only the current
president but also 10 other Union states and Spain (through a referendum), but was
rejected by Germany, the Dutch and France (through a referendum) (Allen et al. 28).
This was because even though the first and second part of the constitution was
widely accepted as in benefit of those it meant to protect it was rejected for its long
winded third part consisting of references to liberalization and market building and
was criticized throughout all of France (Allen et al. 30). Still it leaves the fact alone
that France is an integral part of the European Union. but as of current policy in the

Arguments Against Veganism
Ever since the beginning of time, man has hunted and consumed animals for survival.
Because of this, it is been taught for millennials that meat is an essential to our
bodies for survival and health. While we are capable of eating meat, the question is,
should we? Firstly, humans do not need to eat meat, or any other animal products for
that matter, for survival. Modern day humans are not living in the same conditions as
early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal products. We no
longer need to rely on animals for consumption, and in fact, it is actually best to leave
them absent from your diet. Numerous amounts of studies have been conducted that
support the claim that consuming animal products is detrimental... Show more content

One of the most common arguments is that our ancestors ate it, so so should we.
Humans have had omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has
been an argument that is oftenly used against veganism. Early humans were
scavengers and ate whatever they could find for the purpose of survival and it is
believed that humans ate a majority of meat, however scientific studies have shown
otherwise. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was
found in early human feces (nutritionfacts.org). Vegaprocity (vegaprocity.com) shows
that both carnivores and omnivores require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, while all
herbivores, frugivores, and humans do require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, however
in America, usually less than half the recommended fiber intake a day is consumed
(nutritionfacts.org). While there is no denial that early humans did not hunt and eat
animals, this suggests that the majority of what was ate ate was not meat, but in fact
plants and herbs. When compared to carnivores, humans show more similarity to
herbivores and frugivores. One of the common arguments used in opposition to
veganism is that humans are supposed to eat meat because the mechanism of our
body suggest so. This, however, is false. When compared to carnivores and
herbivores, humans share far more similarities with herbivores. To begin with,
humans have short and soft

Arising Problems with RINs
One of the main issues with RINs have been their prices. Typically RIN prices are
below $1 per RIN. However, lately RIN prices have exceeded $1. According to the
International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) the price for a gallon of
gasoline was about $3 in 2014. As RIN prices increase this could drive up the price
of gasoline for consumers. Increasing RIN prices may be attributed to complications
with the blendwall . Blenders were unable to blend additional ethanol to meet their

are estimated to spend nearly $2 billion on RINs in

The first example of a faustian bargain is when Jin a character in the novel wants to

himself just to get a girl by changing his hair and adopting a new way of life. A
wise one says It s easy to become anything you wish . . . so long as you re willing

of the story when the monkey king has a meeting with Jin and he says You know,

Clay Behavior And Its Effects On The United States
Throughout the past few decades, clay behavior has drawn significant attention
from geotechnical engineers due to its contribution in structural damages [1]. The
sensitivity of clay to climate changes and its corresponding collapse and swelling
due to water content changes is the main reason for the resultant damages. Since
1950s, various ways have been introduced for reducing destructive effect of
expansive clays. (These methods are usually based on trial error, from using
mechanical stabilization like compaction [2] or prewatering (mostly in 1970s) to
altering the physicochemical properties of the soil like addition of chemical agents
or process of ion changing [3, 4].
In the following decades lime and cement injections were the most widely used

How Relationships End Research Paper
During our lives we can have many relationships and some of these relationships
can last for what feels like moments and others can seem to last a lifetime. It could
be greeting someone we might never see again or embracing someone we will see
many times.
These relationships can range from a childhood friends, colleagues, family members
or a partner for instance. And no matter how old or young we are; what is clear is
that we have all had relationships that have started and relationships that have come
to an end. For these beginnings and endings are part of life.
Now, some of these may be relationships that we wish had never been started and
relationships that we wish had never come to an end. But what life shows us is that

During the moments where we feel neglected or rejected externally; we can make
sure that we are there for ourselves during these moments internally.
Our own capacity to mentally and emotionally regulate and sooth ourselves will also
increase. And because our own self appreciation and self respect has increased for
who we are, we will also be able to ask for help when we require it.
Relationships With Others
What will also occur are deeper and more meaningful relationships with others. As I
mentioned above about our relationship with others always reflecting the relationship
we have with ourselves; it is a natural consequence that the relationships we have with
others will change as we change.
As are self integrity increases we will attract others who have integrity and by
accepting who we are; it will allow other people to gravitate to us who accept us.
The relationships in our life that don t honour who we are will also begin to change
and perhaps even come to an end.

Battle Of Hastings Research Paper
The Battle of Hastings remains as one of the most influential battles in British
history. King Harold II, an Anglo Saxon, would be defeated by William the
Conqueror, who would establish the House of Normandy as England s ruling
house for over 200 years. William was born in the Falaise Castle in what is now
the modern country of France. He was born to Robert, the Duke of Normandy and
a mistress named Herleva. When William was just a few years old, his father left
on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. His father would die returning to France and William
would succeed him with the archbishop of Rouen (also named Robert) serving as
regent. Barons would fight for William s position which led to William s teacher and
guards dying. At one point a relative
Health Insurance Fraud Essay
Faking a death is the most common type of life insurance fraud and has even been
the plot of many movies, books and shows; although it is difficult to pull off. This
occurs after a person takes out a life insurance policy on their self and after a few
months of it being in effect they disappear and are declared dead. Then the
beneficiary, a family member or spouse, then attempts to collect the life insurance
policy
Double billing is a scheme that is common in health insurance fraud. Doctors will bill

Insurers can refuse to pay claims or delete claims, deny or cancel coverage as well
as underpay medical expenses. Fraudulent insurance companies can also collect
premiums and pay for inexpensive care before disappearing if a large claim is filed.
It has also been known for companies to look through insurer claims to intentionally
drop them saying the insurer did not disclose previously.
One of the most targeted insurance lines is auto insurance fraud. There are many
known schemes that take place in this fraud that can vary in seriousness and
complexity. There are small schemes to defraud; filing multiple claims for a single
injury, filing claims for vehicle damage or injuries that were not caused by and auto
accident and padding the cost of repairs. The schemes can become more complex
involving staged accidents, faking injury or falsely reporting a stolen vehicle.
Other schemes in auto insurance fraud occur mostly to avoid paying higher
premiums. People might register their car in a different town so they have cheaper
rates. It is also common for fake primary drivers to be listed to avoid a bad driving
record or young drivers that are indeed the sole driver. Another scheme is a policy
holder reporting a false auto insurance claim that occurred before the policy period
The Piano Lesson By August Wilson
The piano lesson playwright August Wilson. The piano lesion is about the African
American family. It s about the history of their family. The Piano Lesson is
published in 1936, with all the action taking place in the house of Doaker Charles.
Main character of the play is Berniece s brash, impulsive, and fast talking brother,
the thirty year old Boy Willie introduces the central conflict of the play and berniece
is the sister of boy Willie, The PianoLesson is a brother and sister couple at war over
the question of using the familylegacy. Boy Willie Coming from Mississippi to he
plans to sell the family piano and buy the land. Sister cares about the piano because
that takes her family life.
Piano plays big role in piano lesson. The piano is more than just a symbol of
slavery though it s also representing the strength of the Charles family. I am not
thinking about Berniece s berniece s used to remember as her family because her
family died because of the piano, but boy Willie does not care. Doaker then tells
the story of the piano s history too because doaker wants boy Willie to understand
the importance of piano. Importance of piano start Generations earlier, Sutter, their

The Threepenny Opera Essays
What keeps mankind alive? Answer the question with reference to the actions of
characters in The Threepenny Opera. In The Threepenny Opera, Bertolt Brecht,
through the writing of the song Second Threepenny Finale What Keeps Mankind
Alive in Scene Six, gives us the idea that mankind is kept alive by bestial acts (page
55, line number 18). In my opinion, although the idea to associate human beings with
beasts, or more specifically, human behaviour with bestial acts looks peculiar, some
characters, in their pursuit of desires and wants, do reflect an inhuman nature, which
makes them beast like . In the play, we can see the constant, uncontrollable longing
of food (page 55 number 9) of some characters. In my opinion,... Show more content

In my view, Mac is really, as what Polly and Lucy comment, a man who is not
worth [so] [many] commitments (page 68). Besides sexual urges, money is
another piece of juicy meat that attracts the most number of characters and leads
them to inhuman deeds. An obvious example is Jenny. Upon the bribe of Mrs.
Peachum, she decides to betray Mac in spite of the companionship between them.
Worse, she is not impressed by Mac s belief that a woman with name beginning
with a P (instead of a J as suggested by Jenny) will betray her, and goes on turning
him in to Constable Smith. Finally, when Mr. Peachum refuses to give her the
reward for turning Mac in, Jenny gets furious, blames the Peachums for black[ing]
[Mac s] boots (page 58) and tells them how bad she feels for having [sold] the last
sportsman left in London (page 58). In my view, Jenny is such a hypocrite and
money fanatic that the example about her is itself, the best manifestation of what is
suggested in the song as however much you twist, whatever lies you tell.... Morals

The Ten Commandments
The movie the author would like to critique is probably one of the greatest movies of
all time. The movie is The Ten Commandments, starring Charlton Heston, Yul
Brenner, and Cecil B. DeMille. If the author were a real critic like Gene Siskel, and
Roger Ebert, she would give this movie two thumbs up. The author will probably be
giving her, interpretation of this movie all the way through this paper because she
feels that in order to understand what s being critiqued you have to understand the
movie. Of course this is a movie that the author has seen a number of times, and every
time she views it she finds something that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For some reason back in the fifties the bible was a good source for movies, and you
have to understand one of the reasons will be found in the strength of genre
movies. For the director, there were certain advantages with working within a given
genre. Because the characters, the plot, and the conventions were already
established, they provided the director with a kind of cinematic shorthand greatly
simplified the task of storytelling. (Boggs, M., Petrie, D., 2008 7th Ed.) The
original movie was shot in 1923 as a silent film which was also directed by Cecil
Demille. The cast of the 1956 remake of the Ten Commandmentswere cast from the
original silent film. The production of this film was good for that time period. The
production crew had it easy when it came to the cast, due to most of the cast came
from the original film from 1923. The props, scene, and setting that the production
crew used were great, for an example in the film Ten Commandments, the scene with
Moses bringing down the ten commandments from the mountain top after talking
with God. When you look at that scene the production crew does a good job with
the dark clouds and the fire like orange colors in the setting of the clouds. The
mountain that was in the back ground of Moses really stood out in that scene, when
Moses gave the ten commandment to the children of Israel, he stood on the mountain
and with his red over garment blowing in the wind
Toyota s Management Structure Functional Integration
One of Toyota s issues was their lack of organizational culture, perceived or real.
Thus, organizational culture is the shared values that are accepted by members of the
organization (Bethel, 2016). Unfortunately, Toyota s corporate culture was one of
total secrecy, which left many feeling there was something amiss. Further, corporate
arrogance, complacency, and company insular nature were evident (Parnell, 2014, p.
603). Additionally, newly appointed CEO Akio Toyoda was invisible, which created
contention amongst others in leadership. There seemed to be a belief that family
members were focused on safety, while non family members were focused on profits
(Parnell, 2014).
Likewise, Toyota s management structure lacked functional integration because the
functional operating areas reported directly to Japan. Basically, it was top down
management structure, which may have led to several of the key issues, which were:
High growth trajectory
Corporate culture
Poor leadership
Management structure
Failure to own mistakes
Focus on cost cutting
Pressure on suppliers to reduce costs (Parnell, 2014).
Clearly, Toyota was in the automobilemanufacturing industry and had been for
many years. Hence their key competitors included: Honda, General Motors, Ford,
Chrysler, Kia, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, BMW, and Nissan (Parnell, 2014). As with
the others in the industry, some of the key risks associated with the auto industry
were the impact of the recession, rising costs of

complicated sentences and synonyms are always adopted in this book. However,
when I read Child s story of the Bible, I have found another style. Namely, short and

Solace By Noami Alternate Ending
Solace. Noami woke to the frosted windows, warm sheets, and draped curtains of
her room. These few comforts made Noami s life a bit more bearable, but not quite
better. Her feelings of absolute emptiness never seemed to every fully depart, leaving
her feeling confused. Dragging her hand exhaustedly through her hair, she somehow

How Water Is An Important For Our Lives
Thousands have lived without love, not one without water, W.H. Auden says. It is
true that water plays an important in our lives; nobody can survive without water.
Importantly, water is a scarce resource which means that society has insufficient
productive resources to meet all citizens needs. Once the scarce resource becomes
more and more terrified, people will turn to limit the usage. Since California has
been dried for four years continuously and reached near crisis proportion, on April
1, 2015, Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order that will restrict urban
water usage by 25 percent to deal with the drought (Nagourney). The bill seems to
make sense by limiting the water when it becomes scarce. This order will affect some

in Johnson). Technically, farmers use 80 percent of water while cities use 20 percent
(Johnson). However, as Governor Jerry Brown claimed California to reduce water
using by 25 percent, he did not indicate agriculture (Johnson). Yet, Robert Glennon
stated that For California to solve its water crisis must also come from farmers.
Definitely, with a huge water consuming, restricting agriculture will conserve water
more significant water than households water saving. Glennon points out that By my
calculations, even a four percent reduction in water consumption could increase by 50
percent the water available for municipal and industrial uses. Thus, to solve drought,
California should not restrict personal water use, but regulate agriculture instead.
Secondly, wisely using appropriate management, water in agriculture is one of the
best ways to control water instead of restricting personal water use. Agriculture
consumes about 80 percent of all water usages in California, and the primary water
consuming in agriculture is irrigation. This irrigation system helps lands that don t
annually receive enough rainfall to be utilized for growing plants. According to

Hijack Coaches Research Paper
It goes without saying that coaches and many of their student athletes are highly
competitive individuals. I know from my time as a student athlete, along with
eleven years as a coach, that on game days I was a little bit edgy, tunnel visioned,
and ready to compete. Competition, after all, is what makes sports exciting; it
keeps the games fun for the players coaches and exhilarating for the fans. However,
there is a balancing act that all coaches and athletes face between having a ferocious
will to win, while also displaying appropriate body language, speaking the right
words, and being a part of a positive team culture.
There can be a dark underside to competition when coaches, athletes, and even fans let

Italian Food In The 1970s
America has seen numerous waves of immigrants which brought their own culture
and cuisine. With time various cuisines became very popular nationwide and not just
within the original consuming communities. One of the most popular ethical foods
in the United States is Italian food. It gained its popularity long time ago and since
lots of Italian dishes became leaders in restaurants. Due to growing interest of general
public to Italian foodnumerous food restaurant networks have emerged in the United
States. Moreover, only one third of so called Italian food is imported from Italy. This
suggests that many products are fake and many people take advantage of popularity
of Italian food. Sometimes manufacturers name their products Italian but they have
nothing in common with authentic Italian food.

Furthermore, people become more and more acquainted with the food because of

magazines. Moreover, the ability to examine foods and make own preparations were
given an unprecedented importance. The Americans could exercise their competence,
distinction, and good taste according to their own individual style (Cinotto 5).
However, authenticity became the most important value of Italian food, the visitors
of Italian restaurants expected their chefs to focus on the use of authenticity of
recipes, techniques for cooking and other things. In late 1970 s, this aspect became a
focus for popular magazines which quickly engaged in production of cultural

How Did Joseph Haydn Develop Music During The 18th
Century
Joseph Haydn, in full Franz Joseph Haydn (born March 31, 1732, Rohrau, Austria
died May 31, 1809, Vienna), wan an Austrian composer who was one of the most
influential composers in aiding the development of the Classical style in music
during the 18th century. He helped establish the forms and styles for the string
quartet and the symphony.
Haydn, from a young age, displayed unusually great musical gifts, and a cousin who
was choirmaster in the nearby city of Hainburg offered to take him and train him.
Haydn, not yet six years old, left home, never to return to his humble cottage except
for rare visits.

Ancient Calendars
Accepted systems for the division of time into days, months, and years, calendars
reflect a human effort to measure and order extended periods of the future. Scholars
divide calendars into three general categories lunar, solar, and lunisolar depending
upon whether their temporal divisions are principally based upon the movements of
the moon or the sun or on a compromise between both. Regarding Western forms of
chronology, in which solar reckoning of time predominates, historians have studied
calendar reform, which encapsulates many scientific advancements and cosmological

had produced a closer approximation of the tropical year, the Gregorian Reform
removed centurial leap years, except for those divisible by 400. While the reform
was rapidly accepted throughout Catholic Europe, Protestant countries were resistant.
Over time, new scientific discoveries concerning the mechanics of the universe were
brought to light, causing astronomers, regardless of religious persuasion, to
acknowledge the errors of the old system. Notably, as the work of Sir Isaac Newton
in the seventeenth century effectively annihilated the last remnants of the ancient and
flawed Ptolemaic cosmological model and presented a new vision of the universe,
resistance began to erode. Eventually the German states fell into line by 1699, in
large part due to the lobbying efforts of Newton s contemporary, Gottfried Wilhelm

Comparing Plato s Views On Mind And Body
Thai Huynh
November 18th, 2015
Soul and Body
The mind (soul) and the body can be apart somehow. You trust something in your
soul even the things you trust does not exist, and you trust how thing is when you
see it by how it is. Now I am giving example of three philosophers to show how they
debate about mind and soul.
Plato thinks that souls can and will exist outside of the body and can exist after the
dead of the body. He provided a proof for this position and is the first to do this in
writing that we have nothing to do so. He assumes that humans were composed of
bodies and souls but the souls are the most important and immortal things. For
example, Plato thought that he could conclude that the soul could exist independent
of the body because it acted independently from the body when it engaged in pure
thought. The reason is people come to know things is that they are remembering the
knowledge implanted in their souls when the souls were in the realm of pure thought
and eternal forms before entering into the body after which they forgot as they
became confused by physical emotions a feelings and limited experiences through the
senses. Plato s position on notion (mind)is the concept, the knowledge has been
objectified. They were pullout of human consciousness, blending into the world of
thought is considered the master similar concepts. The notion is deemed to exist in
general, immutable and eternal. Plato insisted that the notion is what does not exist
is the reality. In
Twilight Essay
The Myth of the Vampire in Twilight
The myth of the vampire existed in a multitude of civilizations and cultures under
various names such is strigoi (for the Romanian territory), Apotamkin, etc. But no
matter the name, vampires will always refer to gothic creatures that drain the blood
of humans, thus being monstrous.
The first writer to introduce the vampire in literature was Lord Byron in the
eighteenth century, but the most significant writer to develop the myth was Bram
Stoker. He is the „father of the vampire as he gave a complete description of the
vampire in his most famous book Dracula . After the release of the book, the myth of
the vampire became extremely popular amongst writers and as a consequence the
books whose main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another particularity of the eyes of a vampire is that they show whether a
vampire feeds on human or animal blood. This is best shown in the baseball scene
when James and the other vampires come and disrupt the Cullen s game. The
camera focuses on the eyes of every new vampire( which , as we were previously
shown, attacked humans) and we can clearly notice that their eyes are scarlet red. So
the redness of the eyes is an indicative of the fact that these vampires are not
vegetarians .
The similarities stop here. There are definitely very few elements which are kept
from all the previous books that present vampires, and to sum everything up we
know that they have cold and pale skin, the fact that they drink blood and the fact that
they are very fast and strong.
The differences are way more numerous that the similarities and in this part of the
essay we are going to present just that.
Stephenie Meyer also introduces a lot of new elements. For instance the most
important entirely new element is that blood has a distinguished smell, a smell which
can trigger the vampires hunting instinct. Edward calls the smell of Bella s blood
„ a drug and „his personal brand of heroin .
First of all there is nothing that indicates Edward as a vampire apart from his cold
and white skin( and the fact that he shines like diamonds but only in the sun). But if
this were a novel written by let s say Anne Rice, the vampire would definitely have
fangs. Stephenie
The works of art that will be compared in this paper are...
The works of art that will be compared in this paper are Giotto, Lamentation (c1304
5), and Rogier van der Weyden, Deposition (c. 1435). Although the two artists use
different media and style, they share the same topic: the story of the lamentation of
Christ from the Holy Bible. The story of lamentation of Christ can be summarized as
following: due to the betrayal of the Judas, Christ was arrested and crucified. Both
drawings illustrate the scene of the deposition of Christ. These drawings demonstrate
the naturalism by using emotional effect. Giotto was an Italian painter and architect
from Florence in the late middle ages. His works of art contributes many things to the
Italian Renaissance. Different from other painters at that time,... Show more content

Although she knows her son will be reborn, she still can t accept the truth that her
son is dead. On the painting, not every character s attention is on Jesus. John the
disciple and another female character supported Jesus s mother by lending her with
their hand. The characters on the right took Jesus down from the cross. All of their
facial expressions show sadness. The facial expressions make this painting look
more like a realistic photo. Jesus s mother is wearing clothes in blue, which is a
very expansive pigment in that time. This fact shows that the social status of
religious is very high at that time. The functionality and color of these art pieces
are different as well. Lamentation is a fresco and its purpose is to spread the
gospel and let every person know about Jesus. The color of this painting doesn t
have many contrasts. All the colors are light. However, Deposition was an
altarpiece, which means that it is for religious rites, it reminds people of the history
of Christianity. Deposition s color and facial expression are more elaborate than
Lamentation, which also shows the advancement in technique over the last 100
years. The colors in this painting contrast each other. The color blue, red and green
make a very strong contrast on the picture. The shape of Deposition is irregular
which makes it difficult for artists to fulfill the top. However, Rogier van der Weyden
Fairies In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Just as A Midsummer Night s Dream could have easily ended in tragedy, Romeo
and Juliet held the promise of a comedy until the point of collision. Romeo and
Juliet promised their love to one another in secrecy, with the help of the Nurse and
Friar, and united their love in procreation. However, fate was not working towards
the benefit of the two lovers. More precisely, the battle between the Montagues and
Capulets embodies the possible ending likely for A Midsummer Night s Dream if
Lysander and Demetrius had fought. Without the supernatural intervention of the
fairies to interrupt their duel and prevent bloodshed, the play could have easily
ended in death just as Romeo and Juliet. In preventing the duel, the fairies were able
to tip the scales... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Targoff states that Shakespeare, intensifies the already powerful sense in the play
that love has no meaningful posthumous future (33). More exactly, when the lovers
die there is no exchange of prayers or promises to meet again in the afterlife. In fact,
Targoff argues that in this moment Juliet longs for death itself, (33) and that her last
words are not a romantic stream of conscious confessions to her deceased love, but
rather to the knife that will end her
Upper Classes Are a Nation s Past; the Middle Class Is Its...
Upper classes are a nation s past; the middle class is its future. This quote was
written by Ayn Rand. The meaning of this quote is that the upper class was important
in the past, but now in the future, the middle class will be the important class. It
relates to the story because in Russia during this time period, the upper classwas the
important class and the lower class had no rights. Anton Chekhov is the author of
The Bet , The Lottery Ticket , and Oh! The Public . Anton was from Russia and in
the three stories he represents Russia from 1881 to 1896. He also slides in his life
experiences and things that had to do with him in his stories. The theme, class
structure, is shown in the stories Oh! The Public, The Bet, and The Lottery... Show

The Lottery Ticket made the two main characters feel as in they were part of the
other two classes, which they were not.
Anton Chekhov made these stories to represent how Russia was at the time,
showing the class structures that they had, and what the different classes did. In
the story The Bet , it shows how the higher class was. The higher class would do
silly things and things that weren t important with their money. Since they were
rich they didn t care what they would spend their money on. In this story, the
banker makes a bet with a lawyer, to see if he can resist in prison for fifteen years,
and the banker wouldn t win anything out of it, so he didn t care what he wasted
his money on. In the story Oh! The Public , it shows how the different classes
would treat each other. If you were in the lower class you could do nothing about
what the middle and higher class did to you. The higher class treated the lower class
with no respect and to the middle class with a little respect. The middle class treated
the lower class worse than how the upper class treated the working poor. As you
see in this story, the invalid, who was a middle class person, treated Podtyagin, who
was the ticket collector, with no respect. All Podtyagin wanted to do was his job,
which was collect the passenger s tickets. The invalid made his job hard, because he
would just complain and not give Podtyagin his ticket. The
The Merits Of Liberal And Realist Arguments
The Merits of Liberal and Realist Arguments: Explaining the decisions of all major
states to sign the 2015 Paris Agreement to address climate change and global
warming Liberalism and Realism can very well go together (Seliger). In fact, they
would both support the Paris Agreement from last year. For different reason of
course, but the fact remains that these two very polar ideals would both show
support nonetheless. Both ideals have changed over the years but their
fundamental philosophies were born hundreds of years ago by philosophical
thinkers such as John Locke and Thomas Hobbes. They birthed the ideals of liberal
and realistic thinking respectively. For simplicity sake, from this point forward the
liberal point of view will be referred to as John s perspective, in honor of John
Locke whilst the realist point of view will be referred to as Thomas s perspective,
in honor of Thomas Hobbes. December 12th, 2015 was a historic moment on a
global scale. That date marked the conclusion of the Paris climate agreement which
accumulated the approval of hundreds of countries including many major ones.
The main goal of this agreement was to drastically reduce carbon emissions and
slow the average world temperature. Specifically, by 2020, they idea was to keep
global average temperature to well below 2В°C above preindustrial levels (Diane).
Currently, we are not doing too well to achieve that goal. As prominent scientist
James Hansen puts it... It s a fraud really, a fake...It s
Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Model (2003)
Causes of Child Neglect (Risks) There are many risk factors for whether or not a
child will experience neglect. These can include lower maternal age, lower maternal
education, maternal depression and the child s temperament (Kotch et al 1995).
Family risk factors include whether or not the parents are married and the size of the
family (Kotch et al 1995). Sociodemographic risks include living in poverty, parental
unemployment, the neighborhood, parental beliefs on punishment, parents attitudes
toward the child (ren), and their overall skills as parents (Kotch et al 1995). With the
threat of lifelong consequences it is essential to consider any necessary prevention
and intervention efforts that prove to be successful not only in the immediate... Show

One example of this is the implementation of Healthy Start Facilities across the
United States (Guterman 1997). This intervention supports families during a period
when there is a high risk for abuse or neglect. This window of opportunity is crucial
for developing a healthy parent child relationship and positive parent child
interactions (Guterman 1997). The purpose of Healthy Start is aimed at modifying
potentially problematic parent child interactions that could lead to neglect or abuse. It
is also the purpose of this program to consider the ecological model as well. There are
many ecologically rooted influences in parenting, and for appropriate change to
occur, it is necessary to examine the whole environment in which a child is brought
up in, not just the family home. The length and intensity of programs offered were
shown to be the most influential variables. Additionally, Guterman found that issuing
services prenatally was highly advantageous

Development Of Human Rights Laws Essay
DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS LAWS IN INDIA WITH SPECIAL
REFERENCE OF (NHRC)
The Constitution of India is imbued with the spirit of promoting and protecting the
human rights of its constituents. But, merely incorporating a comprehensive bill of
rights will not deliver the goods. And, although Article 32 of the Constitution assures
an individual the right to move the Supreme Court of India for the enforcement of his
/her rights, other constraints (like court fees, large back log of pending cases, and the
intricacies of legal procedures leading to inordinate delay in justice) make the legal
option difficult and almost unapproachable for the ordinary person. The
implementation of laws that guarantee constitutional rights can be overseen by
special administrative or institutional measures. The Indian Government has set up
many special institutions under different acts of parliament and the primary task of
these institutions is to give effect to various constitutional rights, particularly the
rights of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. One such important institution is the
National Human Rights Commission. In order to understand the powers and
functioning of this commission it is necessary to know the various Indian Laws
relating to Human Rights.
An Overview

College Cost In College
The author talks about college cost, and the effect it has on students and on how
times it takes longer to graduate. This is an important topic because college cost
has been a problem for many individuals for decades and it still is. College cost is
something that shapes people s lives and it worries them because collegecost is what
determines if they re going to continue going to college. It s something that people
should take lightly because college is pretty expensive. According to the advocacy
group complete college America, it cost 63,718 for one extra year to attend college.
For students who take longer to finish schoolbecause of certain requisites, it becomes
a toll because of the cost. According to Norton Field Guide to writing by Richard
Bullock and Maureen Daly Goggin found a report on Los Angeles bases campaigns
for college opportunity, saying students who attend school 6 years instead of 4
years will lose 110,900 dollars in their lifetime. Many people in the work field and
colleges expect students to attend school for four years. According to the NFGW,
nearly nine out of 10 freshmen think they will earn their bachelor degree within the
traditional four years. Yet In the NFGW quotes the U.S Department of Educationand
they report that about 45 percent won t have finished.
I have encountered many people who have mentioned that college is very expensive
and that it has been a big factor on whether they would continue their education.
People can take a break
The Progressive Era
The progressive era was not the first reform America faced, but it is perhaps one of,
if the most important. It was a time that stretched roughly from 1890 to 1920. It
was a time of progress . A time where the American people wanted to make America
a better country. The people wanted to do away with political corruption; they
wanted to fix all problems, especially those economic, social, and political.
Progressivism was considered to be an umbrella . Under this umbrella fell labor
issues, unsafe work conditions, child labor, no work man s comp, and the issue of
poverty. There was one group of people who truly lead the charge when it came to
exposing the corruption in politics and the unsafe work conditions millions of
American workers faced.
These people were called muckrakers . It was a group of people who adopted the
phrase, The pin is mightier than the sword. Muckrakers was a term given to them by
Theodore Roosevelt. It was not a complement, it was a derogatory term due to the
fact that these people were showing the American public just what was going on in
the countries government and in the large companies that most of the people bought
their food, and other supplies from. They were early day investigative journalists.
They got the name Muckrakers because they would go investigate everything that the
American people should know about, like the use of children in the coal mines, or
the Monopoly of the Standard Oil Company; these are just a few examples of that

Essay On Pearl Harbor.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Pearl Harbor Writing an essay on the topic of Pearl Harbor can be both challenging and intriguing. The historical significance of the event demands a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances leading up to the attack, the attack itself, and its aftermath. Researching and gathering accurate information is crucial to present a well-informed and balanced perspective. One of the challenges lies in sifting through vast amounts of historical data to select relevant and reliable sources. The complexity of the geopolitical landscape during that time further adds to the difficulty, as understanding the relationships between nations, alliances, and the motivations behind the attack requires careful analysis. Crafting a coherent narrative that captures the gravity of the situation while maintaining clarity and engaging the reader can be another obstacle. It's important to strike a balance between presenting facts and incorporating insightful analysis to provide a comprehensive view. Moreover, addressing the emotional and human aspects of the event, such as the impact on individuals and communities, adds depth to the essay but requires a delicate touch. Balancing historical analysis with a humanistic perspective is essential to create a well-rounded and impactful piece. In conclusion, writing an essay on Pearl Harbor demands meticulous research, critical thinking, and effective storytelling. It's a task that requires careful navigation through historical intricacies, geopolitical complexities, and human emotions to create a compelling and informative narrative. • 3. Binary Oppositions For From Heaven Essay Hawthorne conveys his concept of the Outsider through a variety of techniques. As the text aims to portray a highly religious and repressive community, Biblical allusions enlarge and enlighten the message of the text. Hester breaks one of the ten commandments, the punishment reminds the reader of the brand of Cain and Pearl s name is drawn from the pearl of great price in the parable of the merchant. The text draws on the responder s understanding of the Bible to convey its ideas about the Outsider. The text also is a strongly symbolic one. The most obvious symbol in the text is the scarlet letter. The scarlet A shifts in meaning throughout the text. It begins as a symbol of shame but it eventually becomes a symbol of identity. The film reflects contemporary attitudes to race and sexuality by representing the apparent attitudes of the past. In the United States in 2002 educated Americans are sensitive to issues of race and the vast majority subscribe to values of racial equality. This is in sharp contrast to the setting of the text; in 1957 there is a clear division between the races and the civil rights movements was yet to make real gains for African Americans. At the time that the text was composed Americans were and still are, debating gay rights. While many gains have been regarding the rights of homosexuals, they are still significantly discriminated against by laws relating to marriage, property and children, even in the more liberal states of the country. The film highlights the injustice of this by juxtaposing the stories of racial and sexual discrimination. Representing the life of an archetypal 1950s housewife shows how far society has progressed regarding women since the time when the film was set. Cathy s role as a house wife would be an anachronism in today s society. The filmmaker also reflects his cultural context by his conscious evocation of the films of the
  • 4. Sign Here If You Exist By Jill Sisson Quinn Austrian British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein once said, The real question of life after death isn t whether or not it exists, but even if it does what problem this really solves. The idea that death is inevitable is well known by everyone, yet no one is certain as to what happens afterwards. Even though the subject of life after death has been argued for centuries by many philosophers and theologians. In the article Sign Here If You Exist, Jill Sisson Quinn adequately employs figurative language, rhetoricquestionings, and personal anecdotes to demonstrate a controversial argument on the topic of life after death. In her article, Quinn uses multiple figurative languages to strengthen her claim that life after death does not exist. This is a very opinionated piece therefore using figurative language such as metaphors, simile, diction and symbols help enhance the validity of the author s argument, while effectively giving her opinion to the readers in a subdued manner. Quinn s use of the Ichneumon wasp as a symbol for the process of human life is a subtle way of writing it. Her article starts off with a detailed description of the physical features of a Female Giant Ichneumon Wasp, which then proceeds to a biology based background explanation on the specie. During her descriptions, Quinn uses carefully chosen words that is meant to let the reader go beyond imagining the wasp and to think of it as something more. She explains Her overall appearance of fragility the

Most forms have vertically oriented furring strips built into the forms on 6 , 8 , or 12 centres which are used to secure interior and exterior finishes. Different ICF systems also vary in the shape of the resulting concrete within the wall: Flat systems form an even thickness of concrete throughout the walls, like a conventionally poured wall 3rd Generation ICF: most common Waffle Grid systems create a waffle pattern where the concrete is thicker at some points than others 2nd Generation ICF: somewhat lower structural strength fire resistance Post and Beam or screen grid systems form discrete horizontal and vertical columns of concrete 1st Generation ICF: least resistance to fires Benefits Manufacturers commonly cite the following advantages compared to traditional building materials, especially in residential and light commercial construction. It needs to be said, however, that it is questionable what is meant by traditional building materials ; this comparison apparently assumes different worst case alternatives for each point. Minimal, if any, air leaks, which improves comfort and less heat loss compared with walls without an air barrier Thermal resistance (R value) typically above 3 KmВІ/W (in American customary units: R 17); this results in saving energy compared with uninsulated masonry. • 8. Leonardo da Vinci Essay Who would have thought that a rural boy would become one of the greatest minds of history? This boy was born during the Italian Renaissance, a time of great rebirth and renewed interest in cultural arts (Leonardo artist page 3). His name was Leonardo da Vinci, and he was born in April 15, 1452 (Leonardo artist page 9). Many would call Leonardo a jack of all trades; master of none, yet possibly he was a master of all (Leonardo artist page 4). He had achieved many talents and countless accomplishments (page 4). A genius at heart, Leonardo had many jobs and careers: a painter, a sculptor, an inventor, an engineer, a writer, an architect, and... a scientist. It was even rumored that Verrocchio, after seeing Leonardo draw a beautiful angel in one of his works, gave up painting and simply used sculpting. Leaving Florence, Leonardo arrived in Milan in 1482 (Leonardo world В¶ 7 8). He became a court artist for Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, often designing many mechanisms and even a sculpture of the Duke (В¶ 7 8). During Leonardo s stay in Milan, he painted Madonna of the Rocks and the famous Last Supper (В¶ 7 8). In 1499, the French overthrew Milan, and Leonardo left the city to return to Florence (Leonardo world В¶ 9 11). After many years in Milan, Leonardo had become respected and famous after his paintings in Milan, inspiring a generation of artists (В¶ 9 11). In Florence, a new hall was being built for the city council, and the government hired Leonardo to paint the walls with victories from the city (В¶ 9 11). The Battle of Anghiari, painted by Leonardo da Vincion a wall in a hallway built for the city council, is only generally known in Leonardo s sketches (Leonardo world В¶ 12). During the creation of The Battle of Anghiari, Leonardo used a different painting technique, causing the paint to run (В¶ 12). He never finished The Battle of Anghiari, and it no longer exists (В¶ 12). While painting The Battle of Anghiari, Leonardo started working on one of the most famous paintings ever made, Mona Lisa (Leonardo world В¶ 12 and 31). Leonardo probably used the wife of a Florentine silk merchant as his model of Mona Lisa (В¶ 12 and
  • 9. The Issue Of A Constitutional Convention Danny Chasteen and Susan Rick thought that they had finally gotten their big break when they won $250,000 from the Illinois lottery. But, because the Illinois budget had not passed, they received nothing but a cold promise. No, the lottery situation is not the most pressing problem facing our government, it is merely a trivial outgrowth of a bigger problem: political gridlock in the state legislature. A large majority of the citizens of Illinoisare exasperated with the government, and they have the right to be, but a Constitutional Conventionis not going to fix any of our problems. Every state has its own dilemmas, and these issues can be solved through the everyday political process. A Constitutional Convention is simply not necessary, when the Constitutionitself is not what is holding back the Illinois State government. What could possibly be the purpose of a Constitutional Convention? Is it to change provisions on the state budget, income tax, or even school funding? All of these subjects can be focused on individually, and changed through the already present amendment procedures. In fact most of the Constitution itself can be changed through this existing political process. The Constitution is a living breathing document that is meant to change as its environment changes, which is the specific purpose of amendments. Each provision should be dealt with individually, so as to bring more attention to that specific problem. For instance, school budgeting or pension reform

  • 12. Presidential Campaign Of President Obama Political campaigns can elevate a candidate s position, or a poorly run campaign can doom that candidate s chances no matter how good the candidate is. At the end of the day all that matters is winning. That is the goal of political campaigns in a nutshell. There have been many tactics implemented when trying to run a campaign. Of the tactics implemented there are those that are believed to work better than others. Of those that work better than others are, mobilizing base voters by properly identifying who they are, having a clear message and spreading that message to voters, debate performances and fundraising efforts. In this paper the 2008presidential campaign of current president Barack Obamawill be measured along with the 2004 presidential campaign of John F. Kerry. In this paper both campaigns will be analyzed on what tactics they used properly, where they were not as effective and what could have been differently. One of the most important factors when trying to run a successful political campaign is properly identifying and mobilizing base voters. According to the readings in the book Presidential Elections: Strategies and Structures of American Politics, it gives reasons why people do and do not vote. One of the reasons people do vote is because voting in some way or another makes the voter feel good. However when a campaign properly identifies their base voters, they can pretty much assume that those voters are going to go out and vote, but more importantly

Back in the Eastern world of Western Europe, France was the first major European country to adopt a semi presidential system giving them both a prime minister and a president to oversee it all (Allen et al. 109). This is accomplished by giving the president the power of political figure head for the country and allowing the Prime Minister and the government to ...determine and direct the policy of the nation it shall have at its disposal the administration and the armed forces. Because of this, it is been taught for millennials that meat is an essential to our bodies for survival and health. While we are capable of eating meat, the question is, should we? Firstly, humans do not need to eat meat, or any other animal products for that matter, for survival. Modern day humans are not living in the same conditions as early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal products. We no longer need to rely on animals for consumption, and in fact, it is actually best to leave them absent from your diet. One of the most common arguments is that our ancestors ate it, so so should we. Humans have had omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has been an argument that is oftenly used against veganism. Early humans were scavengers and ate whatever they could find for the purpose of survival and it is believed that humans ate a majority of meat, however scientific studies have shown otherwise. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was found in early human feces (nutritionfacts.org). Vegaprocity (vegaprocity.com) shows that both carnivores and omnivores require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, while all herbivores, frugivores, and humans do require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, however in America, usually less than half the recommended fiber intake a day is consumed (nutritionfacts.org). While there is no denial that early humans did not hunt and eat animals, this suggests that the majority of what was ate ate was not meat, but in fact plants and herbs. When compared to carnivores, humans show more similarity to herbivores and frugivores. One of the common arguments used in opposition to veganism is that humans are supposed to eat meat because the mechanism of our body suggest so. This, however, is false. When compared to carnivores and herbivores, humans share far more similarities with herbivores. To begin with, humans have short and soft

Clay Behavior And Its Effects On The United States Throughout the past few decades, clay behavior has drawn significant attention from geotechnical engineers due to its contribution in structural damages [1]. The sensitivity of clay to climate changes and its corresponding collapse and swelling due to water content changes is the main reason for the resultant damages. Since 1950s, various ways have been introduced for reducing destructive effect of expansive clays. (These methods are usually based on trial error, from using mechanical stabilization like compaction [2] or prewatering (mostly in 1970s) to altering the physicochemical properties of the soil like addition of chemical agents or process of ion changing [3, 4]. In the following decades lime and cement injections were the most widely used methods for stabilization of clay. However, hydration starts while water and cement are mixed But when water reaches cement, hydration happens and hydrated calcium silicates (CSH), aluminates (CHA) and lime (Ca(OH)2) would be generated which would and cause a rise in pore water pH. In 1971, [5] found the reactivity of clay minerals with acids and alkalines and afterward the usability of other chemicals other than lime and cement was investigated. Moreover, the ability to examine foods and make own preparations were given an unprecedented importance. The Americans could exercise their competence, distinction, and good taste according to their own individual style (Cinotto 5). However, authenticity became the most important value of Italian food, the visitors of Italian restaurants expected their chefs to focus on the use of authenticity of recipes, techniques for cooking and other things. In late 1970 s, this aspect became a focus for popular magazines which quickly engaged in production of cultural

This decision established the legal authority for sterilizing a toll of U.S. citizens that would grow to more than 60,000 in over thirty states until as late as the 1970 s. • 42. Comparing Plato s Views On Mind And Body Thai Huynh November 18th, 2015 Soul and Body The mind (soul) and the body can be apart somehow. You trust something in your soul even the things you trust does not exist, and you trust how thing is when you see it by how it is. Now I am giving example of three philosophers to show how they debate about mind and soul. Plato thinks that souls can and will exist outside of the body and can exist after the dead of the body. He provided a proof for this position and is the first to do this in writing that we have nothing to do so. He assumes that humans were composed of bodies and souls but the souls are the most important and immortal things. For example, Plato thought that he could conclude that the soul could exist independent of the body because it acted independently from the body when it engaged in pure thought. The reason is people come to know things is that they are remembering the knowledge implanted in their souls when the souls were in the realm of pure thought and eternal forms before entering into the body after which they forgot as they became confused by physical emotions a feelings and limited experiences through the senses. Plato s position on notion (mind)is the concept, the knowledge has been objectified. They were pullout of human consciousness, blending into the world of thought is considered the master similar concepts. The notion is deemed to exist in general, immutable and eternal. Plato insisted that the notion is what does not exist is the reality. In

The first writer to introduce the vampire in literature was Lord Byron in the eighteenth century, but the most significant writer to develop the myth was Bram Stoker. Another particularity of the eyes of a vampire is that they show whether a vampire feeds on human or animal blood. This is best shown in the baseball scene when James and the other vampires come and disrupt the Cullen s game. The camera focuses on the eyes of every new vampire( which , as we were previously shown, attacked humans) and we can clearly notice that their eyes are scarlet red. So the redness of the eyes is an indicative of the fact that these vampires are not vegetarians . The similarities stop here. There are definitely very few elements which are kept from all the previous books that present vampires, and to sum everything up we know that they have cold and pale skin, the fact that they drink blood and the fact that they are very fast and strong. The differences are way more numerous that the similarities and in this part of the essay we are going to present just that. Stephenie Meyer also introduces a lot of new elements. For instance the most important entirely new element is that blood has a distinguished smell, a smell which can trigger the vampires hunting instinct. Edward calls the smell of Bella s blood „ a drug and „his personal brand of heroin . First of all there is nothing that indicates Edward as a vampire apart from his cold and white skin( and the fact that he shines like diamonds but only in the sun). But if this were a novel written by let s say Anne Rice, the vampire would definitely have fangs. Stephenie

  • 53. The Progressive Era The progressive era was not the first reform America faced, but it is perhaps one of, if the most important. It was a time that stretched roughly from 1890 to 1920. It was a time of progress . A time where the American people wanted to make America a better country. The people wanted to do away with political corruption; they wanted to fix all problems, especially those economic, social, and political. Progressivism was considered to be an umbrella . Under this umbrella fell labor issues, unsafe work conditions, child labor, no work man s comp, and the issue of poverty. There was one group of people who truly lead the charge when it came to exposing the corruption in politics and the unsafe work conditions millions of American workers faced. These people were called muckrakers . It was a group of people who adopted the phrase, The pin is mightier than the sword. Muckrakers was a term given to them by Theodore Roosevelt. It was not a complement, it was a derogatory term due to the fact that these people were showing the American public just what was going on in the countries government and in the large companies that most of the people bought their food, and other supplies from. They were early day investigative journalists. They got the name Muckrakers because they would go investigate everything that the American people should know about, like the use of children in the coal mines, or the Monopoly of the Standard Oil Company; these are just a few examples of that
